Speaker 1 (00:00):
Well, welcome to the show. And on today's show, we're
gonna be talking about the holiday movies, bets, gift for
the kids, your partners, the hottest games, records being broken,
so much more. Also, we gotta talk about Warner Brothers.
A lot of stuff happening there. And on the stow
we've got Christian Borley, he's from has been a hotel.
And then on top of that, we've got some questions
gonna sneak in between, because got five winners for Disney
(00:23):
Park tickets all we've been pushing this. You got some
nerding questions for us are let's start the show, come
right back, and let's just dive right into this. We
got a lot to do today on your nerd side.
Speaker 2 (00:32):
Welcome, we can ned.
Speaker 1 (00:39):
Your personality. All right, So holiday movies to watch? Guy?
Anything in here? All right? What is this? You you
saw them? Uh? The list is like, uh, Gladiator two,
Craving the Hunter, Sonning the Hedgehog three, Wicked Part one
one to two, and then five Nights at Freddy part two.
What did you think of that? You saw it? Have
no interest? Good? Bad side?
Speaker 3 (00:58):
Way?
Speaker 2 (00:58):
Why don't you have an interest?
Speaker 1 (01:00):
It just looks like a movie that would possibly be
on demand that I'd want to sell.
Speaker 3 (01:04):
I could tell you, parents, if there is a movie
that your twin wants you to go to, go on
opening day, go to Regal Theater where they have a
nice healthy drink for you to have. And I enjoyed
it in the sense of their RPX the sound system.
Speaker 2 (01:22):
I got some jump scares, but it was.
Speaker 1 (01:26):
From Five Nights of Freddy. You got jump scares from that?
I did, so did they do better in the last movie?
Speaker 2 (01:32):
Four jump scares and four fans? But what no?
Speaker 3 (01:38):
I mean, it's not like Oscar Worthy, you know a movie.
I mean, there's definitely going to be a third one,
so get ready for that's just the same thing. But
I was surprised more of the kids were not screaming
and yelling regarding by when the teachers bring that crash.
Speaker 1 (01:54):
Weird They had this movie out for during Christmas time?
Is it this?
Speaker 3 (01:58):
But that's happened last year and we had to talk
about it about horror shows during the holiday season. Just
guess what not everyone likes that. I mean, look, we
just you know, like, why are we talking about Craving
the Hunter to stream or gladiat or two us that
everyone feels lovey dovey.
Speaker 1 (02:15):
Like I gotta say, if you watch television, which we
are still addicted to television, there's just nothing on the
goddamn TV. They repeat things over and over again. They
need to put some new stuff out there, so you
gotta stream and like Craven and all that stuff like that.
There's not much to stream that much either too. For
as much as we have on there, there is not
that much to watch dah.
Speaker 3 (02:35):
I mean, it's kind of like watching the original Avatar
one and two before the new Avatar movie coming out.
Speaker 1 (02:41):
I'm not doing that again. I'm not doing that.
Speaker 2 (02:43):
I want to watch Avatar.
Speaker 1 (02:44):
Oh my god. When we were we were stuck at
the airport during Christmas time and we had to go
watch it was so boring.
Speaker 4 (02:50):
I'd rather have had my teeth drilled that I have
to watch. Wow, it was so long and so boring.
It was. It was just it just dragged out.
Speaker 2 (02:58):
It just fall.
Speaker 1 (03:00):
But if I wanted to see something beautiful, I'd go
to the museum, not go to a movie theater and
watch your Avatar. That's just how it is.
Speaker 3 (03:05):
Okay, but I still, you know, so for our last episode,
you can listen We did give you some ranks, like
both fun Sake and I were like the shop around
the Corner, meet me in Saint Louis Holdovers, those were
the top three. Tangerine, Yeah, you know Amercle on thirty
fourth Street. I mean, but like really Little Women though
I never saw it. But okay, so what movie did you? Well?
Speaker 2 (03:29):
Did I answer your question? How five nights?
Speaker 1 (03:30):
No said it was okay, But well it's okay. It's
not Oscar worthy. It's an average one.
Speaker 3 (03:35):
You know.
Speaker 2 (03:36):
I'm glad I went the first night.
Speaker 3 (03:38):
Everyone in that theater had a five nights popcorn bucket.
Speaker 2 (03:43):
Rego, you did a for I in buy one eighty bucks.
It was eighty bucks. They sold out.
Speaker 1 (03:52):
Before they make it up in popcorn buckets, go ahead, and.
Speaker 2 (03:55):
It doesn't even hold enough popcorn is.
Speaker 1 (03:57):
They're not for popcorn, they're display things.
Speaker 3 (04:00):
I wonder why you're saying that, as I have Star
get the thor one from Love and Thunder See.
Speaker 1 (04:07):
Let me see here. We've got Transformers, I've got Galactis,
We've got the robot. What's your name? Robot? I forgot
his name? How do I forget him? You can read
the Wars Superman? Yeah, he goes on and on on.
All right, so we're gonna get into Hollygifts next. But
I wanted to do something real fast. We have a contest.
(04:27):
I hope people are dying to do this. So uh
for for the Holidays to send you away to Disney Parks.
We thought we wanted to make you a nerd, and
so I've been promoted all over social media. Uh, Disney's
actually pushed it for me and Amazon twos. Thank you guys.
I love it and I've been at different events that
I do different jobs to go. Did you get my email?
(04:49):
You get if you were like my friends and I'm like, no,
I don't see them. They actually pick them out and
give them to me. So they put a five on
my the emailed me to me open them up. I'm
right now. So let's start with some questions. You think
we can do this? I got some stuff? You ready, amvy?
You ready? You're ready for questions? These are nerdy questions.
They're real easy. I got the answer. Dennis Moore, Livermore, California,
(05:12):
font Seka. I love this and they left this in
fan saka. We love seeing you at the San Jose
Sharks game. When are you back so they are local
and I get this at the games all time.
Speaker 4 (05:21):
December twentieth, my friend, I'll be back there December twentieth.
Speaker 3 (05:24):
Oh my god, that is my father's nightieth birthday.
Speaker 1 (05:28):
I'll be at a Sharks game. Okay. In Star Wars,
Dennis asked, what is the name of the creature living
in the garbage compact on the Death Star? That, of
course is the Dinoga Thedyoga.
Speaker 2 (05:41):
Has there been a toy of the dye, only a
little one.
Speaker 1 (05:45):
It was in the trash compactor you had to get
as the one eye, all right. They're characterized by the
seven suckled tentacles, and ice stalk and mouthed and sharp
teeth and several hearts. They could grow up to seven
to ten meters. Their blood had a blue tint, and
their feet they they're known for you feeding on smaller
animals like fish and crabs, but also feed them bones
and aquatic plants.
Speaker 2 (06:04):
And jo are also a similar character. I believe in
Pokemon too.
Speaker 1 (06:08):
Yes, but those are different universes and they have nothing
to do with things because it's we're talking about Star Wars,
so you're really not showing your nerd side when you're
kind of combining.
Speaker 3 (06:16):
Them are Rgin form Diaga. It's a thirteen inch model.
I think that one's prettier.
Speaker 1 (06:21):
They have excellent hearing and eyesight, and they can live
without oxygen for a short while. But I'm pretty sure
in Star Wars episode four when the death star blew up, yeah,
that guy he didn't serve was gone. All right, Hey, buddy, Dennis,
let me make sure Dennis more a little more. You
got four tickets to uh, you want to discipline? You
(06:42):
got it one more and then we're going to go
in the back of the show. And I got three
more to do. Carol Gomez, Seemi Valley, California. I love
the show. When you come into some comic cons down south,
when they invite us, that's how it works, Carol. So
I they invite us, we'll go down there. The question
is in the Legend of Zelda, which is the official
name of Link's iconic horse. Do you know this? I'm
andre Orona is the name of the horse, and they
(07:07):
named this for the video game. It is a protective horses, ponies, donkeys,
and mules. It's a like it's for the Roman religion,
so they took it from there.
Speaker 3 (07:15):
But here's the crazy part. If you go to the
Nintendo store, you won't see that many toys.
Speaker 2 (07:20):
Regarding about that.
Speaker 1 (07:21):
Now, they don't do. I have noticed. It's the Nintendo stores,
especially when in San Francisco they do in New York.
They're not really focused on the uh, the toys because uh,
this is what I got from guy. They did the
research and they're more into the gaming and the clothing
and stuff like that because they're trying to client tele
of an older crowd, because San Francisco is a totally
different atmosphere and a different clientele than it is from
(07:43):
New York.
Speaker 3 (07:44):
You're not going to buy the Legends of the Echoes
of Wisdom Nintendo Switch game for your son?
Speaker 1 (07:49):
No? No, probably not? Okay, one more? Or should we
continue on with the show?
Speaker 2 (07:53):
Go go?
Speaker 1 (07:54):
It's the call, Sam Dennison, Las Vegas, California. Pick me.
I want to drive to Anaheim for Ximus and my
face family font Seka, okay, this is so easy. In
the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the song that plays when Star
Lloyd first appears and guardens in Galaxy? What is it?
What is it? Just say? Don't even look it up?
Do you know? No, he's dancing go coming in, get
(08:16):
your love, coming to get my love, my redbone.
Speaker 2 (08:20):
You know what I think? I think let the artist
sing the song Jesus.
Speaker 1 (08:24):
All right, we got two more, but let's get back
to the show. I wanted to talk about the envy
pulled this Up's amazing. The big toys, the Holly Gift
Guide this year. This is amazing. Oh and you guys,
you guys all family all four tickets. So everybody picked
Disneyland tickets. You guys got Disney. You guys have said,
all right, well, Disney will be taking care of you guys.
(08:44):
All everything is set up, all right. So the toys
for what's what's the Holly gift card? What's the big
thing people want?
Speaker 3 (08:51):
Okay, it depends who you're talking to. So let's break
it down for kids and tweens, let's loot. Leave more
on the twins and some of our adults. Pokemon sets
are you it's weird. Sets are two hundred dollars and
I saw them just flying off the shows.
Speaker 1 (09:07):
It's so weird.
Speaker 2 (09:08):
There's just so big.
Speaker 1 (09:09):
I haven't seen this big since nineteen ninety nine.
Speaker 3 (09:12):
I think it's bigger than ninety because you got no kids.
Speaker 1 (09:16):
In ninety nine. It was so big. When I was
in Minneapolis and I did after at Nights Dave Ryan.
In the morning, they were doing katiewb Chance to Win
your Pokemon gift cards and I was like at the
board and I was like, holy shit, people are calling
in to win Pokemon cards.
Speaker 3 (09:33):
Remember they had the app Pokemon Go and he had
a fine Pokemon throughout yourself that accidents they had to stop,
I think from lawsuit.
Speaker 1 (09:41):
I remember I went to Burger king in like two thousand.
They were getting way Pokemon cards and the burg Yeah,
I was fighting against this and I got one because
I just had a meal.
Speaker 3 (09:49):
It doesn't fight them too much this time. But now
the other type of sets are Lego sets.
Speaker 1 (09:55):
That's always been big though. Yeah. But they released the
new ones last week at a show. They've got new
Star Wars. They got new again Stranger Things because it's
out again, all these Marvel ones.
Speaker 2 (10:06):
For you're not gonna hoping your Stranger Things.
Speaker 1 (10:08):
Oh no, I got the outside down one. No, that's
a display in the box. Is beautiful. It is not
getting touched.
Speaker 3 (10:13):
And then of course for those who have Nintendo one
or two Nintendo Switch games that are out there, it's
huge many because for economic reasons, many arcade cabinets, right,
those little ones you get even twenty bucks.
Speaker 2 (10:28):
Out of CVC.
Speaker 3 (10:29):
But listen for the adults, if you still want the
card games. Guess what Avatar is big right now because
it is a magic card. We're talking about two hundred dollars,
my friend. For different bundles, they're out there, but let's
just say you're just not that nerdy, or you're that nerd,
but your partner isn't smart mugs, Vinyl turntables, they streaming bundles,
(10:52):
and you did this one made custom Funko Pop.
Speaker 2 (10:57):
Are you good? Where's my custom Fucko Pop?
Speaker 1 (10:59):
Right?
Speaker 3 (11:00):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (11:00):
Okay, make them for you.
Speaker 2 (11:01):
I noticed you need.
Speaker 1 (11:02):
To make them beautiful enough for you.
Speaker 3 (11:04):
Now for our for our fans, maybe you want to,
I don't know. Are you gonna do your nerd sized
subscription box or get your own gaming headsets so you
can listen.
Speaker 2 (11:13):
To our show. So those are some other great things.
Speaker 3 (11:16):
And then the hottest games for our gamers, because the console,
this is where it's most popular. Nintendo switched to you know,
I'm gonna say that it's gotta be if you.
Speaker 1 (11:25):
Said for the hot games it's gotta be something called duty,
and I'm not looking Is.
Speaker 2 (11:29):
It the games? He wants me to go? Games for Gas?
Speaker 3 (11:33):
Okay, Spider Man two point five, it's gonna look beautiful.
Play Fortnite Chapter six, Super Mario RPG remake, then Call
of Duty, New Black Ops. Yes, it tells you Zelda
echoes of her rule.
Speaker 2 (11:50):
Sorry I said that wrong.
Speaker 3 (11:51):
And Minecraft Legends consoles switch to PlayStation five, Xbox series,
Metaquest three Staying Deck is getting popular.
Speaker 1 (12:00):
All right, let me get into a quick interview and
come right back. And I want to talk about Netflix
and Warner Brothers because and I'm not into this. I mean,
I'm into it that it's happening. And DC is not
gonna be ruined. They said they're gonna let him go
forward with all his DC comics. But I'm a little nervous.
This is where I gets iiffy. They're bringing in all
politics in it, because the company originally wanted to purchase
(12:21):
the Warner Brothers' rights and on stuff is a friend
of well, our President of the United States, and they
said they're going to kind of hold it now. This
is where it gets iffy, because I don't know any
of that stuff. Because I'm just an American that plays
video games. All right, first off, it's gonna interview gentlemen's
name is I just had it write from me? Oh, Chris,
Christian Borley has been Hotel. Got a chance to talk
(12:43):
to him at a comic con. I believe this is
Galaxy Con, which you guys are fantastic. I love you
Galaxy Con. When we were there, we got to videotape it.
So after this, give it about a week, it'll be
up a video. You can see the interviews on the videos,
and there's always more there. Right, let's get a quick
interview with him. I went Christian Borrow. This is so awesome.
Speaker 5 (13:01):
The voice the vox on has been Hotel. First off,
before we get you these mazing questions, how do we
get this?
Speaker 1 (13:08):
She's just auditioned. Did they call you? What happened?
Speaker 6 (13:10):
Sweet Viv was working on vox and she was listening
to a song from Smash NBC's Smash called don't say
This Until I finished talking, she thought that that one
suit box and so here I am today.
Speaker 1 (13:21):
So they just called you. They just called me.
Speaker 5 (13:24):
I wish I had that power. Okay, we say the
vox is a unique voice. All right, before you go
into the studio, is there some something we do that
to get ready?
Speaker 3 (13:35):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (13:36):
Yeah, what is your thing you do to get ready
to get into character for the voice?
Speaker 6 (13:40):
I go and then I swear about twenty times and
then I think about Will Arnette?
Speaker 3 (13:46):
Do you really? I do?
Speaker 5 (13:49):
Lady and gentlemen, Will Arnett's going to reach out to us.
All right, what's your social media hand?
Speaker 1 (13:53):
I want to know it.
Speaker 6 (13:53):
I'm not on social media, and I invite all of
you to get off social media. I understand the irony
that I'm saying this on social Here we are.
Speaker 1 (14:01):
This is give me. So remember if you want to
hear more interviews or those interviews, I got them up.
They're going up and go. Get the videos up right
now at your nerd side dot com, or you can
just check them out on YouTube under your nerd Side
Interviews anything your nerd Side there, everything from things were
out to and all that stuff and opening toys and stuff.
Check it out on their website.
Speaker 3 (14:21):
Now for a nerd like you, I'm surprised, ani man
who loves haunted stuff. Have you watched the Haunted Hotel
animated comedy series.
Speaker 1 (14:30):
I know it's on Netflix.
Speaker 3 (14:31):
Yeah, it is on Netflix, my friend, so wantally check
out for those who.
Speaker 2 (14:36):
Want some things to do so.
Speaker 1 (14:38):
And a lot of people know this. And if you
there's your nerd side social media, which I love. And
then I have my own social media. It's fan Saki show.
If you knew my life and what I do from
morning tonight to the But the only time I get
to watch a driving I'm like, I put on my
little phone and turn on television and listen to it.
Speaker 2 (14:59):
Want you listen to an audiobook?
Speaker 1 (15:00):
But I do that? Well, what happens? It cuts out
when I'm going up the hills in the backyard.
Speaker 2 (15:07):
Now you tend to complain, so will force us there?
Speaker 3 (15:10):
Eliza Kus, there's no complaining sky Okay, Well let's just
move on then, all right.
Speaker 1 (15:16):
The whole Netflix thing and DC deal and Warner Brothers.
You know what the government's doing with this because you
seem like you seem like the political kind of guy.
Do you know what's going on?
Speaker 3 (15:27):
It's so no different than what you've been hearing about
Paramount and sky Dance, where the person in the White
House is basically good buddies with a lot of super
rich people. They are letting a lot of let's just
be honest. Just check out with Elizabeth Warrant monopolies. If
you think monopolies are great, you have less choices, less jobs,
(15:51):
less opportunities. We're not even talking about what's happening in
AI in the industry right now.
Speaker 2 (15:55):
But right now we haven't heard Netflix.
Speaker 3 (15:58):
It will be the new owner of d C, and
then a lot of DC fans really worry about James.
Speaker 1 (16:04):
What is it Warner Brothers of DC because d C is.
Speaker 2 (16:09):
It Warner Brothers Discovery Studio.
Speaker 1 (16:12):
They do on DC Comics. All that's come with it too,
everything coming. So Netflix is trying to turn into the
new Disney.
Speaker 2 (16:18):
I guess yeah, so they will.
Speaker 1 (16:20):
So is Netflix going to purchase Land and do a
theme park next? Got to wonder about that because they're
making money.
Speaker 3 (16:26):
I mean, they want to look at what's going to
be happening. But there's a lot of anxiety because what
happens with any type of mergers is it downsizes.
Speaker 1 (16:35):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (16:35):
Right, so they're going to make up for their money.
But and here's a problem that's happening is that Netflix
is being doing a lot stronger K pop, demon Hunters,
out of.
Speaker 2 (16:47):
Control, vample hold on.
Speaker 1 (16:49):
I cannot believe.
Speaker 2 (16:50):
So he is doing really well.
Speaker 1 (16:52):
I know, but I had an early like I was
on the radio someplace else really early this morning. So
I came home, slept for a while, and I'm sleeping
and I thought I was dreaming. Listen to these it's
sound like K pop singing, and I woke. Come look
to the right, she's sitting there watching k pop demons?
Is that what it's called? K pop? Deal?
Speaker 2 (17:09):
I want to see it. I mean there, I'm going in.
Speaker 1 (17:12):
Yeah, it was good, it was good.
Speaker 3 (17:13):
And then the van shoes you get gets for k
pop taking demon hunters do not want those dad those
stranger things.
Speaker 2 (17:20):
But what have you heard a lot?
Speaker 3 (17:22):
I mean, like if you look at our past shows,
there wasn't a lot of great excitement about Superman that
happened while there. So there is a lot of decisions
about the Giant. It's still also a lot of politicians
are talking about the monopoly because why is this happening
so soon right after sky Dance. Also, and there's a
(17:43):
lot of friends, so we're talking about Larry Ellison, who is.
Speaker 2 (17:46):
The billionaire father. Aren't happy about what is happening, right.
Speaker 1 (17:51):
But here's the deal. Let's say Netflix everything goes fine.
Everything like that, the audience will expand so big. It's
not funny with all the DC franchises because Netflix is
so huge in India. Netflix is so huge in Germany.
And now if you watch Netflix, you'll see sometimes that
stuff comes up, like oh, this show from Greece or
(18:13):
Denmark or poll in a lot of Russian shows different
like that. They try to put in different markets and
they change the you can change the what you're hearing,
you know, the the language. This is just gonna help
DC's whole like catalog expand it across the United States,
United States, the world globally. I think it's kind of
(18:34):
a good thing. And I yes, I know about downsizing either,
but sometimes you need to if you're gonna broaden something.
This is one of the the outlets I can see
Netflix right.
Speaker 3 (18:45):
But it's gonna be a fight because Allison has drawn
up plans to go possibly hostile if Netflix won the
bidding war for the Netflix wb D combo. So it
looks like there's gonna be a lot of antitrust opposition.
I'm the Trump administration and the state because it's not here.
It is job is friends with not the Netflix.
Speaker 1 (19:07):
WUS friends really or they just know each other.
Speaker 2 (19:13):
Making their money.
Speaker 1 (19:14):
Ask you something, when you make so much money, why
you need to make more money? What's the point?
Speaker 2 (19:18):
It's called ego and lack of a soul. That's why.
So you feel it.
Speaker 1 (19:23):
If I make enough money to buy thirty slight savers,
I'm fine, I'm straight up, I'm good. If I can
buy a tront I want to make enough money where
I can afford to buy a realistic tron light cycle
to drive the way.
Speaker 3 (19:35):
Well, if people don't the people, remember there's more people
than these billionaires. Means if this goes through, that means
less job means there's job losses ability to produce. But
at the same time, if it also happens, so there's
a lot of arguments in the merits of the combo deale.
In the absence of the overlap, meaning less job losses,
(19:55):
it's ability to produce movies in the US, and that's
a competition from social media. The Andreize concerns of combining
the third largest streamer with Netflix are overblown. The White
House is trying to see how this is good to check.
Speaker 1 (20:11):
Out, But we got a lot of hey, you know,
White House, besides thinking about if Netflix, and that's going
to work out. Help get our groceries down, help the
wars that are going around the world, help our own
the homeless. Here, let's not worry about if Superman's gonna
stream on Netflix or not, or your other buddy's gonna
make money off it, because there are a lot of
other things. Help with medical insurance, and just help get
(20:32):
that crap together. Then we'll focus on if Warner Brothers
and We're going to see Superman his tights on Netflix
or not. Just throwing it out there to you. I
don't know too much about this.
Speaker 3 (20:41):
Well, it sounds like you want recommending them to go
see an old Christmas movie in nineteen ninet two, The
Muppet Christmas Carol.
Speaker 1 (20:47):
I saw that movie. I have the vinyl for it.
That was my only Christmas prends run.
Speaker 3 (20:51):
And then if you want a combook recommendation that you
always say we need to put out there, Superman The
Last Days of Kryptos.
Speaker 1 (20:57):
I heard about that also. I have to go pick
it up. They haven't a hole for me. I still
want to see that. I still have not read. And
three episodes come out of the twilet Zone. They're like
it's ready for you. It's ready for you, and I
gotta go pick it up. All right, you guys want
to go to Disneyland. I know that you're probably listening
to this like fines read on. What is it?
Speaker 4 (21:13):
Is?
Speaker 3 (21:13):
A me?
Speaker 1 (21:14):
I got two more and then next week we'll do more.
Email them in or do it on social media. They're
taking it and they're compiling them all together. I got
