Speaker 1 (00:12):
Welcome to she Leads Podcasts, where we are empower women
in ministry to navigate challenges and to step Bowley into
their calling. I am Iris your host, and today we're
talking about one of the most challenging yet transformative experiences
in ministry. It's transition. It almost seems like everybody's talking
(00:35):
about that, but it is what it is, and everyone
has a piece of the puzzle. So, whether we're stepping
into a new role, or maybe facing some unexpected changes,
or simply navigating a new season of life, transition can
feel overwhelming, but they're also an opportunity for growth, renewal,
(00:57):
and deeper reliance on God. So let's unpack how to
lead well through transition. We're gonna embrace the timing of
God and we're gonna walk confident into this new season
of ministry. Now, now, let's just face it. Change is hard.
(01:17):
Even when we know a transition is God ordained, it
can still feel daunting. It's easy to wonder am I ready?
What if I fail? How will this impact me? My family,
my future? But there's always good news in the Gospel.
(01:40):
God is in the business of making things new, always creating.
That's why He's Creator Isaiah forty three nineteen says, I
see I am doing a new thing. Now it springs up.
Do you perceive it? I am making a way into
wilderness and streams in the wasteland. This verse is reminding
(02:05):
us that God is always working even in the uncertainty
of transition. Now, why did I get it all excited
for that verse? I'll tell you why. We have spoken
that verse over and over in ministry and until we
don't have a revelation of it, actual rama, the breath
of God breathe down that scripture. We're never going to
(02:26):
understand what it means to perceive the new thing. And
often we're like, yeah, we're gonna do a new thing,
but we never really get to see the new thing
until we actually come out of something old, so to
perceive it. That's it right there is to be able
to come out of something old and identify that you're
(02:49):
now seeing something new, that your heart has been transformed
into something new. Ecclesiastics three one tells us that there
is a time for everything and the season for every
activity under the heaven. Transitions are a part of God's
divine rhythm for our lives. They aren't meant to just
(03:10):
derail us. They're meant to re define us, and sometimes
in that derailing is going to bring a refining of
our best us, and I thank God for that. Can
we just just give God some glory on that moment.
(03:32):
If it wasn't for a derail, if it wasn't for
a detour, if it wasn't for those moments, I promise you,
I don't know how in the world we would mature
in our seasons of Christ. So recognizing His hand in
the transition is very important. It's the first step of
navigating any transitions. Recognizing that God is in it, is
(03:53):
God in it, is He in it in this moment,
then there's no way that I can fall or be
left behind. When I know His hand is upon me.
Change doesn't catch him by surprise, It only catches us.
And even when it catches us in the place of
being off guard, we are always going to see His
(04:16):
hand at work in some of these steps. So the
first one is doors closed and other ones open. Transitions
come through closing doors in one area, but they open
up another one. It may feel like unbearable, uncomfortable, but
(04:36):
it's often God's way of redirecting us to something better.
You won't believe it. You know, if we were to
see doors close and not seeing the new ones open,
you're not going to believe that this is the thing
that's happening. You might even feel discouraged. Thank God for
the sisters in Christ. Thank God for the ones we
can lean on that know that God is doing a
(04:57):
new thing. Thank God for those who stay and persistent
and pray for us. Thank God that when they don't
have the answers, they know who does. Thank God for
that backbone in the ministry that we can rely on
our sisters to be able to get us to push through.
Even our brothers as well. But it's important to have
(05:18):
that core support to lean on. Don't talk about that
a little bit further. The second thing is a stirring
in your spirit. Have you ever felt the holy restlessness,
like God is preparing you for something new, something great,
something bigger. We need to pay attention to those moments.
(05:38):
They're often the signs of an upcoming shift. I know
that in the season of going through this, I didn't
feel anything bigger. I felt numb, I felt pain, I
felt distorted. I felt like everything was crumbling. I was dying.
I felt like complete death. I didn't feel that. But
(05:58):
once that stage was over, once I've made up in
my mind that God was doing something that was for
my good, then I began to walk into another level
of transition where I can actually start feeling a holy restlessness,
of a holy movement inside of me that was starting
(06:20):
to prepare me for something big, something greater, something something
more blessed. And the third thing was the confirmation through
others or His word. What is it life without prophecying
the prophetic ministry. God is going to often speak through
the trusted mentors, your friends, and even scripture to confirm
(06:40):
the changes he's leading us into. So stay prayful and
being open to his guidance, and just be alert, be sober.
So now let's recognize God's hand in this transition. Let's
talk about how it navigates practical So here's the fourth
(07:01):
steps of what will help us adjust to see this.
It's the first thing is that we embrace the season
you're in transition. It takes time. Now I can't tell
you right now that just me going through my own thing,
I'm not fully there. Like I know, there's another piece
of unraveling that he's gonna get you know the chance
(07:22):
to do. But I like when he releases to get
you to get that breath of fresh air and know
that a good thing has happened, to begin to take
in that other part, you know, of the thing that
hasn't surfaced yet out of you. So we look and
we see that we don't want to rush this process
(07:42):
or skip ahead. We should be now in the point
of we're embracing it. You know, we're like, Okay, God's
doing a new thing. Why should I even go ahead
of him? I kind of like what he's doing. So
then we start to begin to trust God is using
the season to prepare us for what is next. So
we ask ourselves, what can I learn from this season?
How can I grow closer to God during this time?
(08:06):
The second thing is you want to do is you
want to anchor yourself in prayer and in the word. Oh.
The enemy loves to sow fear. He loves to sew
fear doubt, especially in these times of change. Oh, he
is a liar. He will plant seeds of all types
of things that do not even exist, will even cause
(08:28):
you to think that things could actually be happening when
they're not. So stay grounded. By immersing yourself in that
prayer and in scripture. That's a duel right there. Let
God's voice be louder than your doubts, and then meditate
on the promises like Isaiah forty three nineteen Ecclesey I
(08:48):
said three and one, remind yourself that God is leading
you through this. The third thing is you want to
build a support system. I talked to about that a
little bit earlier. You know, in this place transition, you're
going to feel isolated. You're gonna feel abandoned, you're gonna
feel neglected, you're gonna feel negative energy, You're gonna feel
(09:08):
that negative source come. But you're not meant to go
through them alone. So surround yourself by people that you trust,
a community like I spoke about before, who can encourage
you and pray for you. Pray for you, Pray me
through this because I don't know how to get myself
out of this. So be open about your struggles. Transparency
(09:32):
is your key in this season. Ask for help when
you need it. Their strength in your vulnerability, believe it
or not. That is a virtue. Number four. Take one
step at a time. Don't get overwhelmed by the big picture.
Focus on the next step God is asking you to take,
(09:53):
trusting that he'll reve more to you as we're gonna
go along. Always remember obedience in the small things often
needs to breakthroughs in the big things, and keep that
in mind as we're moving forward. Now, once you stepped
into that season, it's important to thrive, but not survive all.
(10:13):
What I love about this moment is that you're going
to come into a place where survival isn't needed anymore,
and you will thrive from the beauty of those ashes.
So let's look at how we can embrace those new
roles or the season with more confidence. One, We're going
to focus on the mission, not the fear. This transition
(10:36):
often come with the new challenges, So instead of focusing
on what you don't know, focus on the mission God
has placed before you. Lean into His strength and not
your own. Biblical Second, celebrate the small wins. It's easy
to feel overwhelmed by learning the curve of a new season.
(10:56):
Celebrate every small victory. It's evidence of God's faithfulness. There's
nothing more greater than the power of gratitude. Third, he
continues seeking God's guidance just because you've entered into this
new season doesn't mean the transition's over. Just like I
staid it before, I know there's a deeper underlying that
He's still going. You know, he's gonna go in and do.
(11:18):
But God can't pull everything out all at once. He's
got to work his way through. He's gotta massage us,
he's got to mold us, he's got to recreate us. Oh,
it's such an amazing work that he can do. So
we're gonna keep seeking God's wisdom on how to lead
well and grow in our new role. And the fourth
thing is be willing to adjust. New seasons often require
new strategies. Be flexible, open to adjusting your approach as
(11:42):
God reveals more about his plan well. Transitions will always
feel overwhelming, especially when you don't have the knowing, but
they're remember always an opportunity for growth. Oh. I love
the fact that we are maturing and we're detraying in
the ways that He's calling us to, not in the
(12:03):
way the world is trying to conform us into. Trust God,
Trust him deeply, step into the fullness of his plan
that he has for each and every one of us.
Isaiah forty three, nineteen. Will always remind us that God
is always doing a new thing, even in our wilderness.
Thank you in praise, because if it wasn't for Him
(12:23):
and my times in my wilderness, I don't know where
I would be. The Ecclesiastics three to one that reassurance
that every season has a purpose, and this has purpose.
So whatever transition we're whatever we're facing in our transition,
should I say know this that is with you. He's
equipping us for this new season and even when it
(12:44):
feels uncertain, take it one step at a time. I
can't emphasize this a month enough. Anchor yourself in his word.
Trust that He is making a way. Well, that's all
