Speaker 2 (00:05):
My name is Christy.

Speaker 3 (00:06):
Producer Karina is here and yesterday we were talking about
this BuzzFeed article that came out shocking reasons why youngsters
feel people are old.

Speaker 2 (00:17):
Things like you used a DVD. Oh my god, you're
so old. Yeah, yeah, I asked Christy.

Speaker 4 (00:23):
I asked my niece Levana if they still use chalkboards
and she's like, what are chalkboards?

Speaker 2 (00:28):
Yes, my friend Gabby.

Speaker 3 (00:30):
This kind of came up because my friend Gabby, she's
a substitute teacher, and one of the kids brought up
their packet in school and was like, what is this word?
She said, encyclopedia and the kid was like, what is that?

Speaker 2 (00:45):
That's so fun and it's.

Speaker 3 (00:46):
Crazy because if you're in sixth grade, you have no
idea what.

Speaker 2 (00:51):
An encyclopedia is.

Speaker 3 (00:53):
So she's trying to explain to the sixth grader, well,
it's like Google, but like written out in a book,
several books that used to sit in a room in
your house that your parents bought from somebody, most likely
going door to door exactly. She was like, what are
you even talking about right now? Some other things on

(01:13):
the list if you had a MySpace account. I remember
when my Space dropped and everyone was like, whoo my Space.
If you have CDs in your car still, people might
consider you. I do a little, you know. I don't
have CDs anymore.

Speaker 4 (01:31):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:31):
They don't even have CD players in cars. They don't
even put them in the cars anymore. If you if
you leave a voicemail, people consider you older. I don't
understand why people don't just pick up the phone and call.
Someone was trying to reach me and they're like, I
kept trying to text you, and I said, why didn't
you just pick up the phone and call me.

Speaker 2 (01:50):
Yeah, because it doesn't happen anymore. Call me, yeah, okay,
blondie me all day long.

Speaker 1 (01:56):
Just call.

Speaker 2 (01:58):
Don't send a text if I'm not in three.

Speaker 3 (02:00):
But there are so many things that people don't understand
today that they did back in the day, like headphones
with quarts.

Speaker 2 (02:11):
Yeah, headphones with quarts yep, yep, yep. Everything's wireless now.
It definitely is.

Speaker 3 (02:16):
There's something that you think people will not understand who
used to do it back in the day, but now
they don't quite get. Maybe you've run into it yourself
and someone has checked you on it call one eight

Or one employee decided to bring a dish to the
potluck and it resulted in this.

Speaker 3 (03:10):
Dozens of people became sick with reported food poisoning.

Speaker 2 (03:13):
The situation reached the point where the hospital was put
on many disaster alert. How many people are we talking about?
What did they served?

Speaker 4 (03:22):
Forty six employees got sick because one employee brought a
Filipino dish called fonset to the potluck and I guess
it was not cooked right?

Speaker 2 (03:34):
Uh uh sums up?

Speaker 3 (03:36):
Wow, that's not You don't just get forty six year
cowork because pens it is like noodles.

Speaker 4 (03:42):
Forty six employees had to be set like for them
to call the hospital and said, this is a mini disaster.

Speaker 2 (03:47):
Oh my god, come on, this is why I don't
eat the pot luck food. Who cannot be eating everybody's food? Now,
that is the pot unluck. That's what is poud You
messing around with somebody else's food.

Speaker 4 (03:59):
It is a pot unlock, they said right away, they
call nine one one oh least they got to go
home early.

Speaker 1 (04:24):
Coming with Christy Live Classic Kids one oh three point seven.
It's time for the Great Debate.

Speaker 2 (04:37):
Sickly for your pets? Really paid sick leave for your pets? Hmm?
Barking mad or brilliant? Oh look at that.

Speaker 3 (04:47):
Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, we always do the Great Debate.
And there is a new law that they are trying
to pass in New York. People already get paid sickly
to take care of their family members, actual human beings,
but now they want to pass a law to give
people paid sickly to take care of their pets. Do

(05:09):
you think this is a good idea.

Speaker 2 (05:11):
Would you say.

Speaker 3 (05:11):
Barking mad or brilliant barking mad or just barking mad?

Speaker 2 (05:17):
A barking first on your tone?

Speaker 4 (05:20):
So you are not for this tone, Christy, you are
not for this paid sickly for the pets? You know what?

Speaker 3 (05:26):
Normally I would say heil to the no, like, come on, really,
paid sick leave.

Speaker 2 (05:31):
I can understand you.

Speaker 3 (05:32):
Can take time off to take care of your pet.
I'm not denying that, but paid sickly? Where's that money
coming from?

Speaker 2 (05:38):
It doesn't matter. I think it's important.

Speaker 4 (05:41):
Animals, pets are our family members. Keeping our pets healthy
keeps us healthy. So I am all for this bill.

Speaker 3 (05:50):
So, like I said, this is the question for this
morning's great debate, paid sick leave for your pets?

Speaker 2 (06:04):
I actually agree with this, you do. I know it
is shocking, it's very shocky.

Speaker 3 (06:12):
So I would not have about two weeks ago, but
one of my best friends, miss Mona, has a cat
named where are You?

Speaker 2 (06:19):
And Where are You?

Speaker 3 (06:19):
The cat got sick and she had to spend a
lot of money trying to take care of this cat.

Speaker 2 (06:26):
I don't know a lot of money, yeah, I mean
it costs a lot. It just costs a lot, and
you know she wasn't going to work.

Speaker 3 (06:33):
So I think if you have to take time off work,
you might as well be getting paid because they charge
you hell of money if you want to take care
of your sick pets. So I would actually say I
agree with this. But what do you think one eight
six six, nine hundred and one three seven? Is your
cold heart gonna melt like mine? Or do you feel
like you're gonna go with the common sense on this
one and say no?

Speaker 2 (06:54):
Tap the red microphone on our free.

Speaker 1 (07:07):
Great Debate Classic Kids. One oh three point.

Speaker 3 (07:09):
Seven paid sickly for your pets. There is a new
law they're trying to pass in New York and if
it passes, you know, it would only be a matter
of time before it spreads around the country that people
would be able to get paid sickly just to take
care of their animals.

Speaker 2 (07:30):
James, what do you think about that?

Speaker 1 (07:32):
Man? In America? We just cannot figure out why inflation
keeps getting higher and higher. It because of stuff like
this man, call work, make your money. I love my
pets just as much as anybody. They're my little babies.

Speaker 3 (07:45):
But man, hey, at the end of the day, it's
a pet.

Speaker 4 (07:47):
I got kids that got to take care of.

Speaker 3 (07:48):
You know. Normally I would say, yes, you can get
the time off. I understand if your pet is sick,
that's cool. You want to take your time, that's your time.
But paid sickly for your pet. But you know, like
I said, my friend had a sick pet. So I
kind of had to jump on Karina's side on this one.
But secretly, deep down inside, I think I agree with
you too.

Speaker 2 (08:09):
I know you do.

Speaker 1 (08:10):
I know es.

Speaker 2 (08:12):
I'm all about a day off.

Speaker 1 (08:13):
Man.

Speaker 3 (08:16):
All right, thank you so much the best ladies, you too,
take care. Appreciate you jumping in on this morning's great debate. Laura,
where do you stand? Well, our family member, So that's
a possibility.

Speaker 1 (08:33):
If companies can.

Speaker 2 (08:34):
Afford it, I would say yes, you know, if they're
talking to put them out, okay, then I will note
that vote. Appreciate it.

Speaker 3 (08:41):

a talk back.

Speaker 2 (08:50):
Hey, Christy, this is Sheila in Valao.

Speaker 3 (08:53):
Why do we need to give them paid sickly for
their animals?

Speaker 2 (08:57):
Why not just take a personal day? That's what personal
days are.

Speaker 1 (09:00):
Four?

Speaker 2 (09:01):
How do we even know that their pets are sick?
I'm not for this at all. That is a good point.
Thank you for the talk pack, Sheila. What do you think?

Speaker 3 (09:09):
One eight sixty six nine hundred and one three seven
or do what Sheila did? Tap that red microphone, leave
a talkback to join this morning's Great Debate, not your vote?

Speaker 1 (09:22):
Next to the Great Debate Classic Kids one oh three point.

Speaker 3 (09:26):
Seven paid sickly for pets. They're trying to pass a
law to make it a thing in New York. And
if your pass is there, you know it's only a
matter of time before it spreads. What do you think
about that is the question for this morning's Great Debate
Louise and Morgan Hill.

Speaker 2 (09:43):
No, no, that ownership, man, it's a choice. I have pets,
you know, if they get sick, you know what, it's
on my own.

Speaker 1 (09:52):
So no.

Speaker 2 (09:55):
With that, but that's a choice. Okay, thank you.

Speaker 3 (09:59):
You too, Louise, appreciate the call. Good morning, Heather. Do
you think paidsick leave for pets is good or bad.
I think that's actually a really good idea.

Speaker 4 (10:09):
I actually have a coworker that's scaling with a sick
animal right now, and we.

Speaker 3 (10:13):
Were having this conversation literally a few days ago.

Speaker 4 (10:16):
That's so weird.

Speaker 3 (10:17):
But yeah, no, absolutely for it.

Speaker 1 (10:18):
We have to take care of our her beating.

Speaker 2 (10:21):
I mean, do we really have to No, I'm just kidding.
Thank you so much for the call.

Speaker 3 (10:25):
All right, appreciate you always jumping in every Monday, Wednesday
and Friday for the great debate.

Speaker 2 (10:36):
Producer Carina, What have people said?

Speaker 4 (10:38):
Everyone said, give people the paid sick time off or
their pet.

Speaker 2 (10:42):
Not everybody.

Speaker 4 (10:43):
Well, I'm the majority of the people saying, you know,
I won't be in this week.

Speaker 2 (10:51):
My goldfish is sick, right, I will say it.

Speaker 1 (10:56):
Words.

Speaker 2 (10:56):

part of the show. We always love chat with you
