Hey everyone, it's Joe Demonico andwe are reopening the feed today to pay
tribute to one of our friends andcolleagues, Dan Gilfoyle, who passed away
yesterday, June fifth, twenty twentythree, at the age of seventy nine.
Danny loomed large in my early career, big in size, big in
appetites, someone that was my privilegeto call a friend for almost thirty years.

(00:22):
And I can think of no betterway to honor Danny than by sharing
the thing he loved almost as muchas his wife, Carolyn, and that's
music. This is Danny's final show. The last regularly scheduled music program Wham
ever aired from March second, nineteenninety one. It might recall it was
just a day and a half laterthat an ice storm would cripple Western New

(00:43):
York and forever change the sound ofWham Radio. Danny would plan, program
and curate these shows out of hisown private record collection. So here's some
good old fashioned rock and roll aswe honor and remember Dan Gilfoyle. Hi

anybody requests the time Tones and solong that I've got to play a few

(13:33):
songs by them. We're gonna startout with a ballad. This was actually
their first release on Times Square Records, and they were named after Time Square
Records. And we'll go into thata little more after the break. We're
gonna do the ballad side of theirfirst release. Here are the time tones

alarming rate. That's why police departmentsCoast to Coast say buy and use the

club. The club the anti cartheft to turn that can virtually eliminate auto
theft if it's on your stirring wheel. Let me describe the club. It's
a bright red bar that's highly visible. It's made of solid timbered steel,
so it's tough to defeat. Itworks as a slide in lock brace.
It locks onto your stirring wheel.Making your car or truck impossible to drive.

(17:42):
With the club, the odds ofyour car or truck being stolen are
greatly reduced. And best of all, it's reasonably priced for unders sixty dollars.

(18:26):
and now we're gonna play the flipside of the song you heard just before
the break. The Time Tones hadtheir first release. It was Times Square
Records number four twenty one. Itwas actually the first release for Time Square
Records. And this is kind ofa fairytale. It's I'm surprised there's never
been a movie made out of TimesSquare Records itself. Guy named Irving Slim
rose on Time Square Records. Andit was down in forty second Street and

(18:49):
Broadway in the Subway arcade, andit was this little record store and there
were records on the wall and youcould buy a classic group songs that now
sell for anywhere from twenty to threefour five hundred dollars for a buck or
two. It was a fantastic placeand people used just go in there and
listen to the songs. I usedto buy labels. I'd buy everything that
was on a certain label that they'dhave there. And from Time Square Records

(19:12):
came Times Square Record label, camea group called the Time Tones, obviously
named after Times Square Records. Camea song that the Summits did call the
Times Square Stomp. I mean,it was an amazing situation down there,
and this was the uptempo side ofthe first release on Time Square Records.
Here are the Time Tones and inmy heart ahead with you because I would

(20:04):
