Speaker 1 (00:01):
With Mario Lopez. Hey, Ala, Mario Lopez in studio right now,
please welcome one of the stars of Tanya, Paul Walter Houser.
What's going on, man, Thank you, sir, Straight from Saginaw,
Michigan here in Los Angeles, sagon On, Michigan in the house. Dude,
we all love that movie here in studio. I mean,
obviously great film, nominated for Academy Awards, one of our favorites.

(00:25):
But you you really had like some scene stealing moments,
and we were all big fans of yours. Am I right?
I'm not lying, right guy? No? I mean, first of all,
I actually looked up the footage of the real guy.
You did a phenomenal job of playing him. It's yeah,
you gotta do your YouTube homework. I got the audition
back in November of I just come back from doing

(00:47):
a pilot in Vancouver with Eric Balfour and all these
wonderful people, and I come back and get this audition, Like,
there's no way I'm getting this. But I did look
up that interview and I just watched it ad nausea,
him just lying to Diane, Sawyer's face and and I
was like, God, I gotta get this. I gotta, I
gotta totally capture this guy and the guy um Eckhart

(01:08):
was his first name, Sean Eckhart. He actually passed about
eight years ago, and he was a relatively young guy too, right, Yeah,
it was maybe forty and two thousand and seven when
he passed of what we're told are natural causes. I
would guess based on his health it was like a
heart condition or something like that. Well, I'm sure a
lot of stress in his life to this this episode,
or based on the stories he told, maybe he was

(01:29):
murdered by another government. Maybe maybe maybe he was on
a Yeah, to honor his memory, let's just say that
he saw the red dot on his chest pace that
I've earned. It got me last. I mean, what a
fun character to man, which I remember when I was
speaking with Alison Janny two she shot her role in
like eight days. Oh yeah, it was intense, man, it was.

(01:52):
I mean, listen the specs are. It is a period
piece that's spans the eighties and nineties, biography story with
a list talent, shooting in thirty one days over two
and setups with ten million bucks. So like it was.
It was some indie indie stuff. But everybody came and
showed up with their with their game face and a

(02:13):
lot of sweat equity, no egos. It was like the
kind of set you want to be on. Yeah, let's showed.
Where did you shoot the film? But we shot in Atlanta,
which is like the new Hollywood, right, everything's filming over there.
And now the film Titania is out on Blu Ray,
DVD and digitals. If you haven't had a chance to
check it out, definitely check it out. So clearly a

(02:34):
big breakthrough role. I know, I know you've been out
here in l A from a while via sagging on Michigan. Yeah, dude,
thanks for plugging the hometown you're you're also on Kingdom.
I was also on Kingdom. I did a show with
Frank Grillo Nick Jonas that was really a terrific show,
but kind of underseen. It was tough to kind of
get seen. Had we been on a showtime HBO, it
might have been a little bit different. But yeah, just

(02:54):
bit parts. It's always stunnying in Philadelphia. Can peel little
little parts, and this was the one that has been
providing a kind of a new, a new era era
for me. And what can we look forward to checking
you out in next Oh man. I got a bit
part in super Troopers to April, bit part in Unbreakable
can We Schmidt for Netflix in May June, and then

(03:17):
I did a Spike Lee movie where I get to
play one of the stupid batties in this movie called
Black Klansman. I play opposite Adam Driver until for Grace
and John David Washington from Ballers. It's a very cool,
it's adult movie. It's gonna be good. How wasn't working
with Spike Lee? Oh my goodness. I'm such a fan boy.
So like even I was telling I was telling you,
I was, I was telling Danielle. I'm like, I'm kind

(03:37):
of nervous because I like said by the Bell was
my favorite show. If you, if you, if you put
me in front of Brad Pitt, I wouldn't bat an eye.
But I'm like, Mario Lopez is kind of messing me
up right now. But I know that was like our
first week doing this radio show from like thing, It's genuine, man, genuine.
But yeah, Spike is is a film hero mine. I
love uh films like twenty fifth Hour and Do the

(04:01):
Right Thing. So I was intimidating then you find out
he's just a film nerd like me. Man, He's just
he's just living out his dreams. It was a blast
work for you. Do you prefer to do comedic stuff
or do you like the seriou stuff, because like the
character and Kingdom was pretty dark, like, I mean, he
had his issues, but it was messed up. I I
would say my heroes growing up were Chris Farley and
Phillips Seemore Hoffman. They both, uh, they both left us

(04:23):
way too early for for the personal reasons. So in
my day to day life, I'm seeking I'm seeking Jesus
Christ and some salads. Man. I'm trying to keep my stuff.
I'm trying to keep my stuff right. But on screen,
bringing on on screen. I want to play the most
uh defective individuals imaginable because I love that stuff. We'll
keep you keep on that healthy root right there. And

(04:45):
professionally things seem to be going well. Personally, you're available, single,
ready to mangle Mario. I didn't even pay him to
say this. He's just being a bro right now. He's
being a buddy. Well, just we're just throwing it out there,
I mean in an obst nominated movie. Yeah, Hello, ladies,
listen to and a nice guy to boot ladies, I'm
just telling you I'm not and I cook. This weekend St.
Patrick's Day, I'm having a party from Ford to midnight

(05:08):
of my apartment Silver Lake. And are fighting now that
I'm in fighting everybody in this room. Corned beef and cabbage,
homemade mashed potatoes, homemade mac and cheese, some garlic toast,
some Brussels sprouts and the whole thing. Well, did you
provide liquor? And that sounds like that. We got coffee
and Bailey's, we got Heineken. Come by, any ladies listening,

(05:28):
I mean up on the social media. Hey there there
it is. Well man, we appreciate you taking the time
to come and please come back next time. We've got
something you know, you really want to talk about and
we'll promote out there. I greatly appreciate that. Guys, thanks
