Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. Oh man, what a
difference a year makes, right when you think, man, we're
still stuck in a run. Then all of a sudden
we present to you this it is football related. We
will get to that here coming up in just a
couple of moments from now. That guy right over there's
Bucky Brooks. I'm Jonas Knox. This is Fox Sports Radio.

(00:23):
You can listen to. This show is always on the
I Heart Radio app and on hundreds of Fox Sports
Radio affiliates. Wherever you are taking part in the program,
we appreciate you making us a part of your Saturday
here on fs ARE and Bucky Brooks, we are going
to take everybody all the way up until eight pm
Eastern time here on Fox Sports Radio, and I present

(00:45):
to the my man, Bucky fffing Brooks. Probably more calm
this week for you now that we are past the draft.
But Bucky Brooks, welcome into another Saturday here at fs
ARE happening in Jonas, what's going on? Listen? I'm just
inundated with football right now because we got the Spring
League on Fox Sports One. We got the FCS semifinals

(01:10):
going on right now on on another channel. Not to
be named. But we've got all of this that is
happening here, and I'm looking around going a year ago,
we didn't know if we were going to have any sports.
Now not only do we have sports, we've got FCS
in the Spring League playing games right now. So it
feels good to be alive. Yeah. No, it's a good day.

(01:32):
It's a good day. It's a good time. We're almost
back to normal. Things are good sports and back that. Now,
let me ask you this, when you get a stage
like this, like the FCS is getting here, you've got
James Madison and Sam Houston. When you get a stage
like this, which, by the way, that sounds like a
couple of wrestlers going on in the seventies, like a

(01:53):
couple of wrestlers in the older was at the n
w A that you used to watch Garden Bucky Brooks
um with they were like fighting to get a championship
match against Wahoo McDaniel. So you've got this happening. You've
also got the Spring League going on. Tell me that
like this doesn't give some of these players exposure they
would have never gotten before. And and is there the

(02:15):
legit possibility that some of these guys could climb up
a draft board in this FCS game and also maybe
getting noticed by some of these NFL teams that are
looking for talent, looking for guys to maybe bring in
as a training camp. Body. Look, guys are always looking.
Teams are always looking for players, and so the more
outlets to more opportunities, you have an opportunity to put
film on on on display, put your talents on displaying

(02:36):
on film, the better. And so they're definitely scouts that
are signed to look at the spring league, look at
all the games to see if anyone pops. And so
this is a tremendous opportunity for these guys too kind
of reignite um their NFL careers. So I'm excited to
see it. Well, And I mean, you know, with all
the news out of Green Bay that the Packers are
looking for other quarterbacks during O t a S, I mean,

(02:59):
maybe they'll find on one, heir, I mean, maybe there's
a possibility the Packers could find a quarterback here to
bring into training camp, because I mean, I mean, I
don't yeah, I mean, I don't know. It's just it
feels like, you know, things are so bad there. It
also feels like maybe Aaron Rodgers is starting to soften
a stance a little bit, Like we think stance a
little bit here, here's okay, here's the thing we like,

(03:23):
especially me. I'm not gonna say you, but I I
love the chaos. I think it's funny. I think it's
I I get a kick out of it because it's not.
It's not the end of the world. So I try
and keep a pretty good perspective on that. And I
think when these stories come out where you got Russell
Wilson who's angry, and you got Deshaun Watson who's angry,
and you got Aaron Rodgers who's piste off and all
the like, we immediately run too. And I'm saying we,

(03:46):
meaning me, immediately run too. He's gonna get traded. It's
the end of the world. It's all over. And now
you wait a couple of days and more and more
reports come out, and now we it feels like maybe
Aaron Rodgers, who came in within a pro cho I'm
just gonna take a match to the entire organization, got
a little bit of pushback from the Packer fan base,

(04:07):
and I think maybe now not that he's regretting the situation,
or that he's regretting the fact that maybe he wants
to leave Green Bay. But I don't think this is
actually playing out how he wanted it to. No, no, no no,
I mean, look, it's going for somebody. It was going
to become uncomfortable. It was going to be uncomfortable for
either the Packers front office or Aaron Rodgers. And that

(04:27):
was the deal because this is really a situation where
the player, Aaron Rodgers, has no leverage. The only leverage
that he has is making the life miserable for the
front office just by creating comments and controversy and hot
takes and talk and chatter and all of that. But
from a like in a realistic standpoint, like there's there's

(04:50):
nothing that he can do. Like the contract he's in.
I think he has three years left on the extension
that he signed. Um, the fines are prohibitive heart about
eleven million per year if he didn't show up and come,
So you talked about twenty two millions that he would
have to pay back. Um, Like, look, he can wine
and have a timber tantrum and all those other things,

(05:12):
but like if the Packers whole firm, there's nothing that
he can really do. And so that's the thing. And
so I know it's been great for content and conversation
and ously we love it. But at the end of
the day, man, look this is much ado about nothing.
I mean, um the and and also when you just
look at how the pack like, it feels like like

(05:32):
some of the stories that came out this week I
thought were funny because when the story comes out of
all right, who released the story? How does how does
something like this get out? And so the one about
Aaron Rodgers being on a text chain uh and and
ripping his uh, his GM Brian good Kunst and and
you know, calling him Jerry Krauss and all that stuff,
that story gets out, It's like, all right, how does

(05:54):
that something something like that get out? You know what
I mean? Like especially, it either got out because of
one of two ways. Either one the packers found out
about it and they dropped the bomb, or two Aaron
Rodgers didn't mind that there's that a story like that
got out, and then you had well, they offered him
a massive contract extension, and then he was telling free
agents and other players don't sign with Green Bay. It

(06:15):
feels like he attacked first and and took the first shot,
and the Packers withstood it and just said, all right,
how about this, like like we got one for you,
how about this? And it was like the Victor Ortiz
when he fought Floyd Mayweather back in the day when
he was head button him and Floyd Mayweather just stayed
calm and then just put him to sleep with a
combination in the corner, and everyone thought it was it

(06:37):
was like the Packers were trying were put together a
combination just said you want to play this game, we
can play this game. Because you haven't been the easiest
guy to work with when it comes to a franchise quarterback.
And I think I think there's a lot to that,
because he hasn't been the easiest to work I mean
to to get along with. We've heard the conversations, We've
seen how prickly he can be, and this is a

(06:57):
situation where he's definitely been very prickly um And so
I look, I think this plays out where they sweeten
the pot, they pay him the money that he certainly wants.
I don't expect him to trade Jordan's love. I don't
expect him to put him in a situation where Jordan
love can't get onto the field. But they're trying and
meet in the middle and let him know that he
has appreciated. UM, give him the money to let him

(07:20):
see that he's appreciated, and then they'll figure out how
to kind of move forward. If but Bucky, I thought
it wasn't about money. I mean, I thought, come on,
I thought this wasn't about money. I thought this was
about respect. I thought about it was about winning super Bowls.
Come on, now about the money. Yeah, you you pointed
that out. I think for you're one of the first
guys I heard point that out. They're like, listen, man,
well what's his contracts? Say where's the contract at This

(07:43):
could be about, you know, maybe throwing him a few
extra bucks. And then you get some people that say, well,
you know, it's it's not about that. You know, it's
about you know, he wants to be able to dictate
terms towards the end of his career. Well, it's like, dude,
you may want what Brady had, but Brady had a
situation where the Patriots were ready to walk away, and
so was Tom Brady, and it just worked out that way.

(08:04):
The Packers aren't ready to walk away from Rogers maybe
in a year or so, but I don't. I don't
think they had any intentions of getting rid of him
this offseason. I don't. I don't think that was the case.
I think they might have looked into it and seeing
what the possibility was. But I think this the plan
was always towards next year, that it would have always
made more sense financially, and that would give them another
year to see whether or not Jordan's Love is the guy,

(08:27):
and and Aaron Rodgers trying to speed up the process
and green Bays putting their foot down. Yeah, I mean
it's funny because look, he understands it. And some of
this is the reports about Jordan's Love. One. I want
to know who put those reports out about Jordan Love
and whether you can play or not because we haven't
seen him play, Like, no one's seen him play. We
don't know if you can play or not. But um

(08:50):
Summer saying Aaron is emboldened because he's seen Jordan Love
on the practice feeling he's like, you're gonna play with
that guy. Oh, y'all have be calling me real quick,
and so you know, I mean, there's so many layers
to this conversation and what exactly does it and Rodgers
want does he want to have a say? Does he
want an opinion? Does does you want to kind of

(09:11):
flex like Tom Brady has been able to flex? Well,
if you flex, now, that now makes you public enemy
number one. And when it doesn't go your way, so
you have to be careful, like if you do this,
you have to be willing to take all the criticism
and critiques that come with it. Also, he's bil that well, yeah,
and that's and I think that's all another issue here
because what look the interview he did with Mike Tarico

(09:33):
last week during the Kentucky Derby, which I believe nobody won.
Did my horse my worst one? I don't let's go
live your favorite? Yeah, leader Lap. Did anybody's horse win
last week? I don't think they did, right, I don't
think anybody will know. None of our horses won, none,
None of your one was not drafted by My horse

(09:57):
came in second place. I thought that was my horse.
But buck you okay? First of all your horse to
the factory. Yeah, they brought out a Coleman tent and
an elephant gun. Listen, hold on, you see what Bucky
Brooks one one of that's such a scam. When he
said my horse, he said Bob Bafford. So every horse

(10:18):
that Bob Bafford has, Bucky is now claiming as his.
There was I thought that was my horse. I thought
I had Bob Bafford, quit the favorite. Yeah, he had
Bob Bafford. That was Bob Bafford. And what was my
horse's name? Essential quality? Essentially, it doesn't sound like a
horse that I would go after. Yeah, it sounds like
a pain medication, even essential quality. Yeah, it doesn't seem

(10:42):
like your type of horse, Bucky. Yeah, Now listen, you
like everybody's got got variety that definitely isn't in your diet,
you know, essential quality. No chance, nobody on this show.
For a matter of fact, we're gonna be all right.
Jonah snocks Bucky Brooks here on Fox Sports Radio. But
the point on the Rodger stuff with Mike Tariko, did
you notice how he made it very clear he wouldn't

(11:04):
go on camera, but he wanted to make sure that
Mike Tariko took it back to the viewers that Hey,
you know, I love the Packer fan base. I love
the city of Green Bay, you know I love that.
I love that organization. There's just an issue at the
front office. I think he's not feeling very good about
the idea that he's being painted as a guy who's
causing problems and the Packer fan based might turn on him.

(11:26):
I think that is what what is the big concern
for him right now, that he's bothered by the impression
that not only did that happen, but that he may
have dropped the news. Although Adam Schefter came out with
a lie this week and said no, no, I came
up with it myself, that he may have dropped the
news on draft day and spoiled the fund for a
lot of kids that were looking to make the NFL.
He seems uncomfortable at this point because people tearing him

(11:48):
up there hit him because of all of it. The
fact that it dropped three hours before the draft. I
mean that wasn't a coincidence. I mean, if Adam Schefter
had that, he just decided to day of. You know,
it's just such ps It's like, come on, what do
you want to bet at? What if? If? And when

(12:09):
a move gets done. Adam Schefter is the first guy
with it because he probably said, listen, Aaron, I'm gonna
fall on the sword for you. I'll take the I'll
take the heat, don't worry about it. Uh And and
I'll come out and say that it was me who
made the decision and you had nothing to do with
the fact that it dropped. When it dropped, I just
I just happen to be scrolling through and my text
and today was just to day, and I was like

(12:33):
a great day to drop the schefter bomb. Yeah, It's
like I had no idea. It's like, hey, so, what
are you planning on moving? I was thinking December. I'm sorry, Yeah,
you know, I figured nothing's going on. I get some
help from some people. Why not December twenty works? Like,
come on, dude, you know what day it was. Let's stop,
all right, Bucky Brooks Jonas knocks Fox Sports Radio. You
can listen to the show on the I Heart Radio

(12:54):
app and we're gonna take you all the way up
until a p m. Eastern time here on FS are
coming up next though, we are going to get to
the bottom of whether or not Aaron Rodgers will be
on the move sooner rather than later. We've got the
very latest, and we got it for you next year
on Fox Sports Radio. He's Bucky Brooks. I'm Jonas Knocks.
This is Fox Sports Radio. You could listen to. This

(13:15):
show is always on the I Heart Radio app. Coming
up in we'll call it a little over ten minutes
from now here on fs ARE we're going to dive
back into the National Football leagues of news and notes,
interesting storylines from the quarterback position. So we'll get to
that here in about ten minutes from now. Right now,
though you hear the music, you know it can only

(13:35):
mean one thing. It is the man himself, Adam Kaplan,
Fox Sports Radio, NFL Insider, Serious x M NFL as
well Adam, Jonas and Bucky. How's your Saturday, guys. It's good,
you know, it's it's It's got to calm down a
little bit. I'm always gonna have news that's going on
around the National Football League. But this is kind of
where I catch up with coaches because they're not working

(13:57):
on Saturday for the most part, and kind of get
their idea of how they felt they did in the
draft and uh, well the early word on their depth
chart and who's competing for jobs and so forth. Alright,
so then spill the beans. What are we talking about?
Who thought their draft sucked. Alright, let's just get it's
funny they never say that what will happen is I, Well,
obviously I'm not gonna tell you the team, but it's
funny when they go, man, I didn't like that player.

(14:19):
I didn't see it, but you know, it's the look
the the GMS will listen to their coaches, but in
the in the end, they're gonna do what they think
is right. And all the coaches of the Animal cares
can this guy player or not? But going into it,
there's going to be disagreements. There's just that not everybody
agrees in a draft room based on their tape study
what the player could be. And remember, general managers and

(14:39):
personnel people generally have better information than coaches do because
they're the ones who are out there gathering the information,
you know what, and and thinking about all of this.
Like the week has been such a big um, I
guess a review. Everyone reviews the draft and then the
speculation begins immediately on when are the young guys going
to get in the whew. So at quarterback the conversation
has been all about Jimmy Garoppolo and trade lands. Based

(15:02):
on what you think about this situation, when do you
expect tree Land to get on the field. Yeah, and
this is also connected to justin fields. It's interesting. I
was having this talk with some people this week. See,
here's the thing. The Niners made a decision. It wasn't
just recent. They made a decision they were going to
spend a high round pick pretty much after the season
that they were going to address the quarterback position pretty significantly.

(15:23):
And they did that. But they never fully said they
would trade Jimmy Garoppolo. It was just for the future.
Jimmy's futurist clouded though we've signed for two additional seasons.
Because of his injury history, Bucky, they just cannot depend
on him. So now you you flip the script going
forward here and you look at their situation. They had
the worst COVID slash injury issues of any foot football

(15:46):
team last year. I mean, it was just it was brutal.
Majority of those players will be back, save for a
couple of players they decided to bring who they decided
not to bring back, Salomon Thomas, a couple others who
was a former first round pick. But now that they're
gonna get these players back, including Jimmy Garras blow fum
is multiple high ankle sprains. It's reasonable to think that
they can be for a playoff spot. Whereas I think
sometimes when you it's you know, it's one thing if

(16:10):
you have a new regime, new coaching staff. In the draft, quarterback, well,
no matter what they tell you, that quarterback is gonna
play early. Where San Francisco with the Niners who play
who play in they trained in Santa Clara. They playing
in San Francisco, um or had been for years. Nevertheless,
they have to make a decision on how they want
to handle us. My senses is gonna be Jimmy Garoppolo

(16:31):
for at least the first half of the season if
they're competing for a playoffs. But I don't see fields plays.
I don't feel trailing is gonna play very much. Were
in Chicago, they're playing, They're playing for the coaches and executives.
Guys they are are are the Bears will be playing
for their futures. And that's the difference between both of them.
Adam Kaplan, Fox Sports Radio, NFL Insider joining us here

(16:51):
on FSR, Jonas Knox, Bucky Brooks with the here um
and it's funny you mentioned the situation in Chicago, and
you saw this play out because Nick Foles is still
on the roster, and I think people forget that. So
I think there's a chance if Fields comes in and
plays at a high enough level that I think there's
a chance that maybe Andy Dalton gets dealt. And here's

(17:13):
why I say that. In Philadelphia, when they drafted Carson Wentz,
Sam Bradford was still on the roster, and from my understanding,
the plan was, well, where Sam's going to be the starter.
I think he might have just gotten a contract from
them not that long before. He was upset from what
I heard about the situation. Yeah, it was he was
not happy about it. And then all of a sudden

(17:34):
we got to the season and before the season even started,
they decided Carson Wentz was going to be the guy
and they traded Sam Bradford. Do you see maybe a
similarity between that situation from you being there in Philadelphia
and this one. And I'm pretty close to both situations,
so I could tell you let's go to Philly first.
So what happens Philly was Teddy Bridgeworter got hurt in Minnesota,
yea Rick Bield and the gentermal magic called Howard Rose.

(17:55):
Eagles general manages said, look, you know a better situation
with Teddy we lost him, were Sam Bradford. What's going
to take the Eagles guy? Think out a first and four,
one and and four, which is ridiculous for Sam Bradford
with his injury history. Uh, Sam, they actually played competent football,
but his knees would not hold up and the rest
would be history. He just really was done after he
left Minnesota. But that situation, they were a new coaching staff,

(18:19):
they had no allegiance to anybody other than Carson Wentz
was gonna be their starter. And what Doug Peterson said
Jonas in the off season was their plan was and
this is before this is before that the the Bridgewater
stuff came to to pass that their plan was to
go with Bradford and Chase Daniel to be the backup,
the the well traveled journeyman, the very wealthy journyman. By

(18:42):
the way, he's made a lot of money. I mean, really,
the agent deserves an awards. Ridiculous so much there's a
guy's made so much for doing so little. I know, Chase,
I'm sorry, but you've made a lot of money. Uh,
nothing wrong with that. Good for you, But then Carson
wants to be the third quarterback. Well, Bradford's traded Chase
Dan had a bad training camp, and of course Wentz

(19:02):
would wind up being the starter, and that that's the
way it happened. Now in Chicago, my understanding is Dalton's
the starter. Um nick Foles you mentioned now, they tried
to move him prior to his UM. He had a
four million dollar guarantee, which became fully guaranteed I think
on March one, So they were trying to move him
before that. This is not the secret to anyone who's
done reporting on it. It's um. Right after that happened

(19:25):
where they couldn't move them, they knew they were going
to keep him. That was that. It was wasn't that
people didn't want nick Foles, they just didn't want to
contract Um that the total compensation was eight million, which
in today's NFL with the sellery cap issues, it was
hard to move. Nobody wanted him. They try to actually
trade in the Philly but the Eagles could not accommodate
him because their shaller cap issue. So yeah, you're right,
it's fields. I expect to be the third quarterback to

(19:46):
start the season. Just now straight if Fields has a
knock as a great preseason and training camp and and
Andy Dalton, who's the starter, doesn't do well, and then
they could change. But Matt Naggie actually compared the situation
with Patrick Mahomes, where Mahomes they were not going to
rush with me only started one game and plus obviously

(20:08):
they were in the playoff fund. That has something to
do with it and not the Bears are expecting. By
the way they're expecting, it could certainly could pete for
a plaoffs, but they backed into the playoffs at eight
and eight, but they did get in last season. You know,
it's funny because Matt Naggie and Ryan Pace seemingly go
from being on the hot seat to being celebrated in
the town because they make the right pick exactly comes
to Fields, and so I mean it not. It seems

(20:29):
like they're gonna get a long leash and they're gonna
have an opportunity to see this out. And I don't
know if any of us would have thought that that
would have necessarily played out. I want to go to
The other hot situation would be New England Cam Newton,
Bill Belichick says on draft day, Cam Newton is the guy.
Those guys have to earn the right to be the starter.
What do you expect to play on when they get
a chance to get to camp. Yeah, this one is
This is one where I think the Bears and nine

(20:51):
a situation I feel I feel like I could call
that pretty well. It just depends on, as we said,
with the Bears, um, how they're doing standing wise. And
the other one it's they want to go with Jimmy
Garoppolo the season, you know, just to finish the Niners off.
That's that's their plan and then see how he plays it.
Could he stay healthy. But then with with New England,
Bill wants to Bills not told people this, but just

(21:13):
my read, I think Bill wants to prove that he
was right about Cam. Nowon Cam obviously was should have
been bench last season, even play well after a hot start,
but they declined to play Jared Stidham the fourth round
of nineteen, so that that kind of sealed his fate
of the future. And now with Mac Jones in there,
I think this is also another one where it depends
on how the team is playing. Now, we had the

(21:34):
Dolphins situation, which is rare. The Dolphins were not expecting
to be for a playoff spot last year, and they
wanted to. This is very unique. They wanted to to
be in the thick of being a playoff race in
his rookie season. This is not what most teams would do.
Most teams would stick with fran Fitzpatrick. But they knew
that there weren't going to be a super Bowl team
and they wanted to do to be in that playoff

(21:56):
fint now I wouldn't rule out anything with Bill Belichick
and am Nowton. I think Bill, they all want him
to do well. I know Josh McDaniels is very fond
of him. Um well, I think this is a wait
and see what happens type of situations. Once a little
bit more fluid, we're the only one other ones we
kind of know what's gonna happen, all right, Adam Kaplan,
Fox Sports Radio, NFL Insider, Serious x M, NFL Radio.

(22:16):
Joining us here on Fox Sports Radio, Jonas Knox, Bucky
Brooks of the here. Alright, so I tease this. So
this is bad radio by me because this should have
been the first question. But we get off and running
and we get excited because we're talking about other quarterbacks.
Not named Aaron Rodgers, but we must address the issue.
It's it's Aaron Rodgers. Um, what is what is the
latest on this? Where where do we stand? How's this

(22:38):
gonna go? Look? Let let we'll move this forward here.
It's actually very funny. So all the you know, the
thing that you do now is if you're let's say
you're an ex player podcaster or an ex player radio
show host, like a like a J Hawk or John
Coon or someone else who knows Aaron, you have him
on the show or you you have you talked about
Aaron Rodgers because this is the this because we're in May,

(23:00):
there's other than rookie mini camps. It's very boring, and
because there's nothing else to talk about a major note,
you're gonna talk about Aaron Rodgers. So what players, these
ex players are doing is they're they're trying to spend it. Well, look,
Aaron is uh, you know, I know Aaron. He he's
just this is the way he feels now. But he
might he might change his mind. I don't know about that.
I've I've done a lot of reporting on this and

(23:21):
just gathering information. He's one of the most stubborn people.
If you talk to anyone who really knows him, like
really super knows him. He's a super type a that
once he makes a decision, he generally doesn't change it.
And I mean he holds grudges. Man, he has major
grudges against the front offs, particularly general manager. And I think, look,
he was motivated last see and be the m v

(23:43):
P he was. I don't know this is situation is
going to change. But the Patags said they're not trading him.
I'll say this again. Folks were in May, we are
not in August. Let's see what happens if if Rogers
is not a show up to the manditary mena camp
in mid June, then does not show up to train
a camp in late July, and it extends. This stends
to the second week of August. For for example, that

(24:04):
meets he's serious and that the packers are gonna have
to move him despite how detrimentists to their cap. They
got a major cap issue. If they the whole the
whole idea was they would trade him after one based
on contract structure and they'd have love set for two years.
Well now because they Aaron, Aaron's done this and as
people have spoken off the record. This is what's happening.
They're in a very bad situation here. I don't think
he's getting much better. To be honest with you, Oh

(24:25):
my god, quickly, Adam, have you heard any reports like
because no one has seen Jordan's love right, and so
we have all of this opinion where people like, oh
he sucks, Like what did they do? Have you Have
you heard anything about how he's progressing as a young quarterback? No,
but I could tell you that I've talked a bunch
of quarterback coaches. They thought he was a major project
um coming into the twenty draft. It was so shocking

(24:46):
that he went in the first round. We're mahomes like.
I know, people try to say his mahomes like Mahomes
is issues where with mechanics and he was wild with accuracy,
But there was so much upside. You know, the Seahawks
were going to draft him had he been there. They
went up trading out, but he went the Chiefs trade up,
So it's a move point. Seahawks and other teams I
spoke with thought he was so much upside you would

(25:06):
just sit him yere one. Well, we know in today's
NFL typically don't sit a quarterback anymore like Rogers did.
He's for three years. That that doesn't happen, But the
belief was that he would sit for two years. And
I still think that's the case of Rogers long team
and the Packers. Right now they are saying they're not
trading him. Well again, we're in May, not not not August. Yeah,
and here's here's the part the pot And before we

(25:26):
let you go to the part, just one last thing,
the part that bothers me about that is man, Aaron
Rodgers wasn't exactly a finished product when he came into
the league. Yeah, they felt like he was kind of ready. Yeah.
I heard mechanics were an issue with him as well too.
So this idea that like all we've seen Jordan's love
and some practices, never mind the fact they were COVID
practices and all the other non offseason stuff that he

(25:47):
that he wasn't able to go through like a normal
rookie quarterback coming into that. Despite all of that, we're
able to identify that he can't play, and that's why
we're playing. It's just I had to feel like, give
the guy a chance at least. Oh one thing I
do want to tell you that you just brought something.
I remember talking to someone with the Chiefs. There was
a practice i'm gonna say sometime in November of seventeen
where this my guy told him. He goes, listen, he goes,

(26:12):
He goes, we're Aaron won't be at alexheanpier quarterback next year.
I'm just telling you what I just saw this week.
It was so spectacular, magnificent. He goes, oh, Mike, because
you can't report this, but I'm telling you I could
report who cares now? But he goes, you can't. We
can't upset Alex. You can't put this out there. But
this it's over. What did he do? He goes, you
had to be here? I wish I could share the

(26:32):
practice tape was. It was just they all were like,
Bucky knows this from being a perfect night. When you
see it, you go oh my oh MG, like you
you like get so excited you can't wait to see
it next year. And that's what happened. You remember at
the super Bowl, the story came out from I think
the Kansas City Star that that the they were gonna
move Alex Smith. I mean it was pretty amazing. I

(26:54):
mean the fact that you know you would expose Andy
Reid is telling me about that. It wasn't any don't
you know. He's Adam Kaplan, Fox Sports Radio, NFL Insider,
Sirius x M, NFL Radio. Get him on Twitter at
Kaplan NFL. Adam, We appreciate it as always. Man would
do it again next week? Sounds good, He's awesome. He's

(27:16):
the best. Adam Caplan here on Fox Sports Radio. All right,
coming up next, Um, people have way too much money
to spend, way too much money to spend. We've got
the proof and it ties into Bucky Brooks. We will
get into that next year. But for all the latest
from around the world of sports, ladies and gentlemen. The
gas bad David gascony again? Money? You know what? Man?

(27:43):
You text man, It's never gets old. What's up, Dave? Yeah,
it's been a little while since the whole cruise here
a little bit. Yeah, it's been it's been quite a while.
Gascon's coming up. Gascon's coming up. It's nice to see that.

(28:05):
I was Sam is not taking another weekend off to
go hiking. Oh guy, I don't even want to hear
about his little tree hugger retreat that he went on
We're going to get to that smoke, a bunch of pot,
kick a hacky sack, and like burned leaves, yahuasca. Little
activities took place for sure. Can you guys take a
look at my my sun tan, my sun burnt skin? Yeah,

(28:28):
I was sam right there. Just just I do have
a nice tan now after getting burnt. Let me tell
you something. If I ever ditched this show to go
hug trees and clip the wings of a sparrow in
the mountains, you guys should have me arrested. You should
have me arrested and thrown off the air. Unbelievable. Who
does that fraud? Like Northern California go on a hiking trip.

(28:53):
It was amazing in the NFL draft too. How do
you get away? Guys? Disrespect jerk a right, Oh yeah,
I've got some stuff to talk about today, guys. National's
hit me Yankees right now in the seventh inning, Max
Scher's your six innings, twelve ks and earned run, two
hits against Nationals to one over the Yankees. Right now

(29:14):
in the home half of the seventh inning, Cardinals and
Rockies have gone back in forth. St. Louis leads nine
to eight as a score Paul Goldschmidt three from four
the homer he's driven in three and also scored three times.
San Francisco three, San Diego nothing. This game is now
on the top of the fifth named Padres have all
of two hits in the affair. A's three nothing over
the Raise, Twins and Tigers locked up at to two

(29:37):
on the ice. Rangers fourth three lead at Boston. It's
late in the third period of that one, and the
Penguins one nothing over the Buffalo Sabers. There's about nineties
seconds to play in the third and now, hey, by
the way, Dave, you're you're an NHL guy, We are, yes,
you nine. Yeah, you can't listen. You can't tease us
with a with three fights on the ice to start

(29:58):
a game and then never have it happened again the
rest of the world. Come on, man, if you're the NHL,
listen to the audience. If the audience is responding, well,
just go with that. Make that a mandate. Talk to
your teams and players. They let them throw down right
to start the game. Rangers got fined two hundred and
fifty thousand dollars for comments taking a shot at the

(30:20):
at the commissioner and the league's disciplinary board. Um, I
don't know if you saw this, Bucky, but they had
ninety two minutes of penalties in the first four minutes
and fourteen seconds of a Rangers Capitals game because of
Tom Wilson. Yeah, but don't you. But you gotta admit, Jonas,
you gotta admit, like, that's the one that's missing from

(30:40):
the NBA and Major League Baseball is that guy athletes
could police the game themselves as opposed the officials coming
in and you know, every touch foul or god forbid
you throw up an in at a hitter anymore. Well, look,
it's exactly why you don't see like like you'll see
guys run their mouths a little bit, but it's it's
not to the extent like you'll see in the NBA

(31:02):
to where they'll run their mouths and in baseball, you
know they're flipping bats and stuff like that, which I
have no issue with, but you'll see because in the NHL,
in the NFL, you're held accountable every single play, every
single play you run your mouth, there's a chance you're
gonna go over the middle and you're gonna get cut
in half. Like that's that's just bottom line, I mean,
and and so you don't see a lot of the

(31:23):
a lot as much chirping with with knowing that nothing's
going to happen on the back end like you would
see in some of these other sports. And to see
those guys just drop the gloves and go three like
a three man tag and just and then you fill
up the box like that. It's now them taking Tom
Wilson out of the game because of a quote unquote
upper body injury and not not letting him, you know,

(31:46):
get a little bit of let them get some payback
on him. I thought, was you know, a bit suspect.
I'd love to see someone do that to Kirk Feren's Wow, wow,
we are already off and running. The you that will
not go away David gascon versus Iowa Sam. Here it
plays out every single Saturday. Unbelievable, this one, this is

(32:10):
not going Do you say, I'm sorry, I actually missed
while Let's go live till I'm checked out on a
nationale show? Iowa Sama, Yeah, what are you doing? Sam?
On Yosemite dot com? Come on show? And uh I
missed with slander. Gascon levied my way. He just said
that um, not so nice things about Kirk Ferren's I

(32:31):
actually think can can we figure out a way to
get Dave gascon versus Iowa Sam on the undercard of
the Mayweather Logan Paul Fight? Can we get that orso
Jake Paul? I don't know. I was tracked sometimes, honest
to go, I swear like like up until about three
weeks ago, I didn't know the difference between Logan Paul
and Chris Paul. I swear to God like very good. Listen,

(32:53):
we could get me versus Iowa Sam on my space?
How about that? Good? Yeah, that that'll that'll sell out
for sure. That that'll that'll bring that corpse of a
website back up and run and no doubt about it.
All right, Jonas knocks Bucky Brooks here on Fox Sports Radio.
We're already off into the ditch again, into the ditch
here of sports radio, so we will continue on here.

(33:14):
You can listen to the show on the I Heart
Radio app coming up next. Though. Some people have way
too much money to spend, and it ties into the
great Bucky Brooks. We've got the proof. We'll have it
for you next year on fs ARE. He's Bucky Brooks
I'm Jonas Knocks. This is Fox Sports Radio. You can
hang out with us as always on the I Heart
Radio app. Coming up top the next hour here on

(33:36):
FS are about fifteen minutes from now. Uh, there is
a quarterback competition in the NFL that could look very
very similar to something you've seen in the past, and
we will get to that here fifteen minutes from now,
top of next hour. But it's not the quarterback competition
you're thinking of, So that'll be coming up here on
Fox Sports Radio. By the way, guy writes in on Twitter, Bucky, Uh,

(33:58):
how great would it beat see Money Mayweather beat the
blank blank out of these talentless scumbag I can't even
read the rest of it, but he's basically referring to
me and UH and the Paul brothers. So he sent
that to you and he just wants to know how
great on a scale of one to ten, you think
it would be if Floyd Mayweather beat up myself and

(34:22):
Logan and Jake Paul. So I don't know if you
have any thoughts on that, but but there we go.
I mean, I would expect I would expect him, I
would expect him to land, but you never know. Man,
there's a big size there's a big size advantage for Paul.
I mean, like it's like Floyd's not a big guy
at all, and and he always had issues with his hands.

(34:42):
He kept breaking his hands early on, which is why
you know he turned to more of a defensive fighter.
So yeah, who knows. I mean talking ban like one
of the all time great fighters. Could you imagine if
he lost that fight like that? That's how his career
wrapped up. Who goes undefeated? He beats all these legends
and he loses to to of these guys on YouTube,
Like I mean, okay, so how do you expect this

(35:04):
thing to play out? Like how do you think? How
do you think Floyd will approach it? Do you think
he'll approach it like he did Conor McGregor. I think
he'll have money on the fight, And I think we
need to ye over under on rounds and and see
and maybe, you know, get boots on the ground in

(35:25):
Las Vegas and find out how many people are are
that Floyd Mayweather is sending to casinos to bet on
what because they're betting on the over. I think he's
going to carry this guy into the later rounds like
he did Connor McGregor, and then we're going to win
money on it. I think that's how this goes. That
should be our approach to all this, if you, if
you ask me, But what the hell do I know? Here?
Here's what I'd like to know. Um, who the hell

(35:49):
wants to pay one point three eight million dollars for
a Michael Jordan's game war in North Carolina tar Heel jersey?
And I know you're a North Carolina tar Heel, but
come on, Bucky, I mean, if I had it, I
mean I would get it. I mean smelling like MJ
from years ago. Yeah, so you don't think they watched that.

(36:11):
You don't think they're watching those jerseys afterwards? I mean,
I mean I wanted authentic exactly, and I agree. I agree. Listen,
it's got to be authentic. I want to I want
to be able to smell everything. Um, they were doing
a throwback week on FS one to where everybody was
wearing these throwback jerseys Iowa sam Our technical producer. Is

(36:32):
there a former Iowa Hawkeye jersey that you would love
to get your hands on? Is it? Sean already know,
already know, already already know. Brad Low house basketball. That's
a good one. I would go with a number thirty one,
Matt Roth jersey defensive end. What about Sean Green of
all the players that he was one of my favorites.

(36:55):
I could do a Sean Green to have green T shirt.
But by the way, when we're talking about the Shan Green,
it was the running back, not the former major league
player Sean Green who who for the Jets to the
title game. Yeah, yeah, that's Sean Green. All right, So
you wouldn't go Sean Green Matt Roth. All right? You
got Matt Roth. Interesting lead, the lap lead, the lapis

(37:17):
ary throwback, like a packer jersey or something that you
would love to get your hands on. H Henderson the
fullback or Dorsey Levin's maybe whoa wait, whoa William Henderson? Yeah?
Did I you know he's my roommate right in college?
No way, really, Henderson was. William Henderson was my roommate
in college also and in the pros. I like clincting

(37:37):
fullback jersey and would and I will leave it in
there because we don't need to talk about I'll just
I'll just leave it. I would just leave. I would
just leave. I don't want big Stiffy to um get
mad at me if he happens to be listening. Wait
a second, his nickname Stiffy big Stiffy. All right, yeah,
I think I think we're good. Here We're Good is

(37:57):
brought to you by Pogo Sticks Sports rad. Wow. I
didn't know that you and William Henderson. How about that? Yeah,
you're in Sentario so um we uh roommates my last
year in Carolina and then when I got to the Packers,
we um man, we stayed together for like a year.
My most that's my guy. Yeah, well how about that?

(38:19):
Look at that Lee? You never know you never knew
that that you were next to one of your favorite
players of roommates, and and you never knew that you
would be this close to hearing a story about him
that will never be told on me exactly. Now. Wait,
is he the guy who had the embroidered? That's that's
my friend. That's my that's my best friend from uh
from high school and college. That's Edgar. Yeah. Yeah, so

(38:43):
he had biggie or something on us. A big big fella,
like one thing that's big is every everything is always
big for my guys, they always are like big, big,
big big You know if it's true, but it's big. Yeah,
well it's not true about me, souse. You're wondering, all right. So,
Dave Gascon, is there a throwback jersey you'd like to take, Johanna,
Let me guess a Carl Mecklenburg Broncos jersey from back

(39:05):
in the day, Dave Man, I'd like to get an
old school Shannon Sharp. Oh yeah, yeah, the road uniform
though the white I probably I probably could get there
for you. Do you want to with the tears on it?
Or I would? I would have asked for them. I
would have asked for this. I would have asked for
the jersey that was the case because uh Shannon, Shannon

(39:29):
dropped a two point conversion in that wildcard game against Jacksonville. Dave, Dave,
come on, maybe you don't. You don't have a more
obscure player like a Bubby Brister or a Okay, what
about Bobby Humphrey, Remember Bobby Humphrey back in the day? Marlon?
What about what about Gaston Green jersey? How about that? Okay,
that works, I'm gonna do it, alright. Gaston Green makes
a lot of sense. That works for me, all right.
So Gaston Green Bucky, is there is there a throwback

(39:52):
jersey you'd love to get your hands on, Davis, you
gotta go throwback, um, I would say, and I play
when which is weird? But Marcus Allen's old Raider jerseys, Yes,
the white or the black, you gotta go white rights

(40:12):
to be it has Even though I like their throwbacks
when they're numbers, they're so clean that I think it's
the best throwback jersey in the NFL. The silver, the
white with the silver Raider jerseys, I think are the
best throwback jerseys in the NFL. God, I used to
have a Marcus Allen starting lineup back in the day.
I probably got it somewhere. Either that or you know,
who knows somebody somebody sold it for drugs in my house.

(40:34):
I never know what that family all right back Next.

So there's a quarterback situation in the NFL. It's a
quarterback battle. It could play out like one you've seen
a couple of years ago, but it's not the one
you're thinking of. We'll get into that here coming up
just a couple of moments from now. He is Bucky Brooks.

(41:38):
I'm Jonas Knox. This is Fox Sports Radio. You can

Fox Sports Radio. And Bucky Brooks. I'm watching my Jousters

(42:03):
try and make a comeback against the Generals in the
Spring League currently on Fox right now, minute and change
left to go. Okay, so let's be let's be real, Um,
the Jousters in the Generals before the day. Did you
know about the Jousters in the General? Listen? No, I'm
not comfortable answering. I don't think this is Look, Kevin

(42:26):
Gilbride is the is the head coach for the Jousters.
UM last scene on a sideline getting punched by Buddy
Ryan with the Houston Oilers back in the day, which,
by the way, the Houston Oilers you want to talk
about jerseys, um, might maybe one of the best jerseys
of all time, those home blue Houston Oilers. I wouldn't

(42:47):
mind getting. Give me a Curtis Duncan, a Curtis Duncan
throwback Houston Oiler jersey, a little little Heywood Jeffreies, give
me a Warren Moon if you will. He was from
North Carol, Remember Heywood Jeffrey. Yeah, yeah, they had they
had some good some good teams there, those like Houston Oilers,
but unfortunately they couldn't hold on to a thirty two

(43:08):
point lead against the Bills, so you know through it's
a difficult task, definitely is. There's probably Houston oiler fans
who saw, oh man, come on, Jousters, this is I'm okay,
I'm done with the Jousters. I'm done. I'll no longer
be a Jouster fan now these The general's helmet reminds

(43:30):
me of the helmet from the New Jersey Generals way
back in the day. Right yeah, and it's also got
yeah yeah, a little a little bit like that. Um
I look, I actually think call me crazy, but I
think that had there not been a shutdown, that the
XFL would have worked. I really do believe it. I

(43:51):
think the second edition of the XFL, the a F
was doomed when they started borrowing money from the NHL,
they were doomed. I think the XFL would have actually works.
I thought the quality of football was better. There was less,
you know, a circusy type of atmosphere when it came
to you know, the hot tubs in the end zone
like the original f XFL and all the you know,

(44:13):
rolling a ball out there and then scrambling to try
and determine who wins possession and who will receive the
kickoff or gets possession first. I actually felt like the
XFL at a real opportunity, and then all of a
sudden everything got shut down. And I remember I was
talking to Brady Quinn about this the weekend of the
shutdown in March whenever it was. He was in Tampa

(44:33):
Bay getting ready to call an XFL game, and then
his producer called him and said, hey, man, we're done.
So what do you mean. He goes, that's it. League's done.
Like they were already there, ready to call the game,
ready to go in the city. They had done interviews,
they had talked to players, coaches, all that stuff, and
they just stopped everything right off the bat. And I

(44:54):
believe if that not hadn't happened, I think there was
some real hope for the XFL. Yeah, I Ryan Malley
getting to win. I know Ryan Mallett. Guy. Wasn't he
the quarterback at Michigan when rich Rod took over and
said he doesn't fit my scheme, so I'm gonna I'm
gonna tell you he's got to go. It wasn't it Ryan.

(45:15):
I think it was Ryan. It might have been It
might have been Ryan. Mellody ended up going to Arkansas
whoo pig suey Yeah, damn right, much like it was
it Matt Jones, so the other former Arkansas quarterback and
became a receiver and then all of a sudden got
drafted like eighteenth overall or something like that by the
Jacksonville RS. Yeah, and then I had a little bit
of a little bit of an issue with the uh,

(45:37):
the non the the smelly powdered doughnuts if you will, Yeah, yeah, donuts.
You got sniff from the funny the scratch and snuff
scratchy stuff donuts. A little bit of that cough chalk. Yeah,
that happens to the best of us, I guess. All right.

(45:58):
So that is uh and that wrap up are our
coverage of the Spring League radio Saturday as we as
we ventured to another discussion that we want to have here. Um,
I always say this you do and and this isn't
me just ball washing you because I want to hype
up my partner and crime every weekend. But you do
a really good job on NFL dot com. And for

(46:18):
those of you that haven't checked it out, go look.
Check out Bucky's work every single week three sixty all
throughout the year. Uh, like clockwork, every Friday, you come
up with some thoughts around the NFL, and it's everything
from you know, lists or just a breakdown of a
of a storyline or your perspective, which is a unique

(46:40):
one when it comes to being a former player, a scout,
a coach now an analyst. It kind of runs the
gamut on perspective when it comes to the NFL and
covering the NFL. And one of the things that you
did was you broke down the top five positional battles
in the league. And I want to focus on one
of them now because there's some others that I think

(47:00):
are interesting, and one of them is the Tray Lance
Jimmy Garoppolo battle at training camp for the forty Niners.
And I've heard some people, you know, make the comparison.
Matt Nagge of the Bears talked about, Man, you know,
if we we're hoping that the Andy Dalton justin field
situation in Chicago plays plays out exactly like it did

(47:21):
in with the Kansas City Chiefs, to where you had
Alex Smith who played really really good football, um maybe
his best season of his career. Patrick Mahomes was the
rookie quarterback. He came in one week in Week seventeen
after everything was already wrapped up, and then he got
that year to sit and learn, and then they turned
the keys over to Patrick Mahomes and the rest is history.

(47:43):
And there's a lot of people in Matt and Naggy himself,
they are looking at the Justin Fields Andy Dalton situation
saying we wanted to work out just like that. I
don't think that's gonna happen because I think Matt Naggi's
on the hot seat and I feel like there's gonna
be a rush to get Justin Fields in the game.
The one Sitch wation I feel most resembles the Patrick
Mahomes Alex Smith's scenario is the one in San Francisco.

(48:08):
I think it's Tray Lance and Jimmy Garoppolo because Kyle
Shanahan is not worried for his job. Jimmy Garoppolo, if
he's healthy, can come out and play quality football he
has in the NFL. And if you and Tray Lance,
I think from everything that I've heard and you would
know better than me, is that project that guy that
needs a little bit more time to develop, like a
Patrick Mahomes. I think the scenario isn't gonna play out

(48:33):
like that in Chicago. I think it's actually gonna pla
out in San Francisco. Don't look. I agree with you,
just in terms of what you potentially could have in
tray Lance. I think this situation could be the Pat
Mahomes situation. Not necessarily in terms of tray Lance coming
in and throwing the ball all over the yard, but
Trey Lance adding a dimension to this offense that makes
you say he has to be the guy to play

(48:54):
and with his legs, his running ability combined with what
the Niners do on the ground. Already, you talked about
an offense that is a nightmare to defend. I think
Trade Lance offers that now if they're forced to or
if they continue to play with Jim Garoppolo. This is
a team that went to Super with Jim Garoppolo. He's
as a starter. So there's nothing wrong with staying the
course and going that route. But man, if they want more,

(49:18):
Trade Lance could give them more. And so when you
and and I've heard you know, players and Adam kaplan
last hour here on Fox Sports Radio, um, and you know,
maybe we'll bring that back in the final hour. But
he talked about a scenario in to where somebody on
the Kansas Kansas City Chiefs reached out to him and said, hey, man,

(49:39):
I wish you could have seen Patrick Mahomes in practice,
which you could have seen him in comparison to Alex Smith.
It was so obvious that he was going to be
the next guy and they were going to move forward
after the season was over, and that was a playoff
run for them. I just I wonder how long it's
gonna be before they see because physically, like all all
the physical traits, there's gonna be a glaring difference between

(50:02):
Jimmy Garoppolo and Trey Lance right when they get out
that they're on the practice field size wise, Yes, when
they see him physically, because you talk about a guy
that's about two and thirty pounds six three six four
physically and prosing has been training. Uh, and when you
see him move around and run, it doesn't be a
bit of a difference. Now when it comes to throwing, uh,
they maybe even it maybe a push when it comes there.

(50:23):
Trey Lance has a stronger arm, but they both are inaccurate,
and so they have a tough time throwing strikes consistently,
but it will be an interesting um contrast between the
two quarterbacks. Yeah, I just I think that's the one
to watch. Like the Cam Newton um Mac Jones situation,
I just I don't. I don't think mac Jones is
gonna play this year barring injury. Like I I really don't.

(50:46):
I don't think that's gonna happen. Um. I think Cam
Newton is gonna be the guy. I think he has too.
And I think if you go back and you would
look at how Cam Newton played pre COVID, it was
a different thing those first two games. Remember how we
were talking about we were talking about the New England
Pages having to throw a big extension on Cam to
the COVID thing. He had three and fifty yards against
the Seattle Seahawks, and we can talk about their defense

(51:07):
being awful in those things, but in the moment we
were wild by Cam Newton and his fit in New England.
And then he had COVID. He was never the same
player after COVID, and so we just don't know what
the I mean, look what the virus did to him
in terms of his body from the inside out. But
we will get an opportunity to see mac Jones and
Cam Newton on the same field, which would be a

(51:29):
very interesting thing to watch because you have Adonis and
then you got my guy coming straight out to Fred House,
rolling out with not many muscles and an harmed that
maybe not as live as some quarterbacks that we've seen
in the league, but look high i Q players, So
it'll be just it will just be interesting to see
how this plays out. Because in New England everything has

(51:51):
to be earned, it's not given. So Ken mac Jones
earned the trust and respect of his teammates and coaches
to be the starter. And here's the other thing. Am
Newton got signed in what July, Like how much time
did he actually have? Yeah, so this and and he
came in and they were awesome, and you can say, well,
yoh yeah, but you know what about the end. We

(52:13):
can focus on the end of the season all we want.
Here's here's all I know. When Cam Newton was on
the field a yard away from winning that game in Seattle,
the conversation we were all having in prime time when
he was going head to head with Russell Wilson and
watching that play out on national TV was hey, man,
the Patriots might have done it again. They might have

(52:33):
found some guy that people gave up on, and this
guy's playing his ass off. And then I know what
I saw when he was out with COVID and they
had to play that game against the Kansas City Chiefs
because that game was there for the taking. Brian Hoyer
melted down in the red zone towards the end of
the first half, and then they brought in Jared Stidham
and he couldn't play. So, if you want to argue

(52:54):
or do they look better with Cam Newton or without
Cam Newton? Last year they look better with Cam Newton.
And that was a Cam Newton with COVID and very
little time to get ready for a season, and then
dealing with a roster that was completely different opt outs
on defense, a banged up offensive line, and no real
weapons on the outside. Man, I think Cam Newton is

(53:14):
gonna be good this year. I really do. Yeah. I
think he has the opportunity to be good. And I
think what would be great the preseason. Have an opportunity
to see these guys in preseason, being able to get
on the field and do all these things, would give
them an opportunity to kind of develop a rhythm and
once they develop a rhythm and some timing and cohesion.
And also it's an upgraded cast with tight ends uh

(53:35):
that are a level Hune Henry and John new Smith's respectively.
That gives them a chance. And I actupected this new
England team to be a really good team. He is
Bucky Brooks, I'm Jonas Knocks is his Fox Sports Radio.
We'll let you know. We are going to take you
all the way up until a p m. Eastern time,
five o'clock Pacific here on FSR. By the way, enjoy

dot Com. Alright, coming up next, uh, this is the
story of the NFL. The situation in the NFL involving
Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers. There's a lot
of people talking about it, but we're gonna go live

(54:20):
to a man who is on the ground at ground
zero of this drama, and we're gonna get the latest
for you. Next year on fs are he is Bucky Brooks.
I'm Jonas Knox. This is Fox Sports Radio. You can
hang out with us as always on the I Heart
Radio app coming up in well bottom of the hour
or later on in the hour. Rather, we are going

(54:43):
to have the return of the Iowa Minute. We thought
a week off from it would really benefit everybody here
on the show. Unfortunately it is back, So a well
overdue Iowa Minute is yours later on in the hour
here on Fox Sports Radio. But right now it is
always a pleasure to be joined by the voice of
Wisconsin Sports Radio. He has none other than the great

(55:05):
Mike Heller. You hear the Mike Heller Show on ten
seventy of the game in Madison, Wisconsin. And whenever there's
a big story like the story that is brewing with
the Green Bay Packers and Aaron Rodgers, he must be
a guest on this show, and he's kind enough to
do it again. Here Mike, it is Jonas and Bucky.
What's happened to man? How are you? Jonas? Bucky? I'm
doing great. There is a lot of a lot of

(55:26):
talking points. Uh this has been a good uh well
for sports radio. It's been a good week. Uh. No
kidding now. I'm sure you guys it has been a
topic A, B, C, and D for you over the
past week or so. But what's what's the feeling there
in Wisconsin from Packer fans and not only Packer fans,

(55:47):
but just people that follow the team that are seeing
how this has played out, the news being broken on
Draft Day and what has happened since then when it
comes to Aaron Rodgers. Yeah, I think it's been a
really interesting UM economy to look at how fans treat
the situation and what information they take UM and so
I think up until Draft Day, Packers fans were frustrated,

(56:11):
even angry at the organization that they hadn't found a
way to restructure Aaron Rodgers money. And I think that's
what they were talking about, is restructure so they could
be a player in free agency. And I've been kind
of ringing that bell, saying the fact that they haven't
restructured means that there's a fire behind those walls right
now and we just hadn't got oxygen to it for
the rest of us to know about it, but it's there.

(56:33):
And then Draft Day kind of fueled that. It Again,
it wasn't new to the Packers. It wasn't new to
Aaron Rodgers, but it finally got out there and it's
been a problem. I actually think that this quiet week
has probably been better for both the Packers and Rogers.
I don't know was your instinct talent, but for me

(56:54):
that it's been mainly quiet since Draft day, make a
couple of nuggets in the days that followed, the rest
of it has been pretty quiet, and I think that's
good for the potential reconciliation. You know it was hard
for me is having spent time up there. Everything around
the Packers goes back to the Lombardi years, right where
everything is about the team and the organization is always

(57:15):
the biggest thing, no player. But I do wonder with
the fan base where they falling. Are they siding with
Aaron Rodgers into situation? Are they siding more with the team. Yeah?
I think originally Bucky they sided with the team. Um,
they were against the team. I'm sorry, let me reverse
that they were signing with Aaron Rodgers originally just on

(57:36):
a restructure. But when it came to and you know
this from from understanding the situation in Wisconsin with the Packers,
that it's not an owner that you know, you know,
hundreds of thousands of people have ownership in the team,
which amounts to no value at all. That's how much
they pride or take pride in this being a community

(57:58):
owned franchise. When they found out that Aaron doesn't want
to be here for whatever reason, whether that is simply
a Brian Good accounster reason, um, and I my assumption
is that that's where it is. When they found out
Aaron said he didn't want to be here, it turned
heavy against him. A week ago, I ran a poll

(58:20):
who's the villain in the story? And it was fifty
fifty And then it's more that information came out. Now
it's seventy third against Aaron, saying that Aaron's the villain
in this. I don't know what he is, but I
think when it comes down to Bucky's that the Packers
as an organization misread the room. When the season finished

(58:42):
and Roger's in his age who came to the table
wanting an extension, the Packers looked at it and said, no,
we're good with we're good with your three years remaining
in one year for the option out. Uh. And they
missed read the room, you know, they they botched it
and now they're having to see if they figure it
back out. Uh. He is Mike Keller joining us here

(59:04):
on Fox Sports Radio. You hear the Mike Heller Show
on our Fox Sports Radio affiliate ten seventy The game
in Madison, Wisconsin, joining Bucky Brooks, myself, Jonas Knox here
on fs are you mentioned Brian good Kunst And by
the way, that might have been the first time I've
actually pronounced it correctly, So I just want to give
a to myself. I know that that was probably a

(59:25):
trip wire for many people early on when he got hired.
But nonetheless, in all seriousness, the relationship between him and
Aaron Rodgers, the reports that Aaron Rodgers was mocking him
on a on a group text chain with other teammates.
What what can you tell us about that dynamic and
what you have heard being there in Wisconsin about whether
or not the national perception of their relationship meets up

(59:48):
to the reality there locally. No, I think it does.
I think it does, Jonas. I think that there's a
there's an issue, Um, Aaron, I think this is an
exclusive to Aaron Rodgers. It's firstly with the Hall of
Fame future Hall of Fame quarterbacks when they get later
in their career, they want a voice, and I don't
think many of them actually get a voice. I think

(01:00:11):
gms will play kate them and give them a sense
and do you think they take some of their information
in But the end of the day, the GM is
gonna make player personnel decisions. So I think Aaron was
bothered when the Packers cut ties with Jordie Neilson Welcome.
Jordie had aged out of the league. He played in OAKLANDY.
I think he had one good Sunday, but he had

(01:00:33):
aged out of the league, and Aaron didn't see it.
And then they got another guy this this last year.
That was the Division three um kid who ended up
in Buffalo but also did nothing. So I think that
Aaron had some carson Ellis used like his voice wasn't
being heard enough. But then it all came down to
this contract, and when they came back in the room

(01:00:55):
and said, Okay, let's dispense with the Jordan's love nonsense
and let redo a contract. So I canna be here
my final three to four years in the league. And
when the Packers said no, based on the jority on
the Kumo fire cutting and then the drafting of Jordan
Love Rogers is you know he's done. From a good

(01:01:16):
con standpoint, I still think there's a road to reconciliation.
But both sides are gonna have to check their egos
at the door and say, well, we might have been
at fault here, we might have been at fault here,
but let's get this thing done, okay, So let's fast
forward it now, because I feel like this situation has
made it nearly impossible for Jordan's Love to get a

(01:01:39):
fair shake with the fan base. Right and when you're there,
when you hear the name Jordan Love or Packer fans
hear the name Jordan Love, what's the reaction, even though
we haven't seen him play in a preseason game or anything. Yeah,
I think a lot of people are really bothered that
they made the selection a year ago. I might, and

(01:01:59):
I I think they didn't make that selection um in
a hollow way. They didn't do it without doing due diligence.
They think Jordan's Love has something there. The problem is
none of us have seen it. The last time he's
got decent film is from two years ago at Utah
State and last year because they had no camp, and

(01:02:20):
media wasn't at camp that they did have no exhibition games,
and he didn't dress for a regular season game. We've
not seen the kid, you know. And I think after
one year in Green Bay, Aaron Rodgers kind of had
the same view that fan based it. I was here
covered it. Uh, Aaron Rodgers pick was not popular because
Brett Barb was popular and year into that dynamic, nobody

(01:02:42):
thought Aaron Rodgers also, we could see him at practice
and in training camp and saw that there was some
talent there. Nobody seen Jordan's Love. So it's it's this
is a bit of a conundrum. If they have a
camp and they're playing exhibition games this year, that will
be Jordan's Love's coming out party. And if there's something there,
I think fans will um ease back on how how

(01:03:03):
critical they are on that selection. You know that I
was thinking about Mike Heller joining us here on Fox
Sports Radio from ten seventy the game in Madison, where
you can hear the Mike Heller Show, one of our
Fox Sports Radio affiliates. The other thing I've found a
little bit confusing. There's this sort of because and you
know how this works, there's a lot of people, especially nationally,
and you're not one of these guys. You've always called

(01:03:25):
it down the middle. You've always been brutally honest about it.
But it's almost like you get these people nationally that
are really hoping Aaron Rodgers jumps on their podcast or something,
so they're just gonna they're gonna defend him to the end. Like, Oh,
no matter what, I'm gonna defend Aaron Rodgers. I'm gonna
be honest. Man. It's not like he's got the worst
roster around him in the world. Like this idea that
he just has nothing around him and they they've you know,

(01:03:46):
sabotaged his career. It's like, man box tr was injured,
but he might be the best tackle in the league.
Aaron Jones is a stud, Davante Adams is awesome. And
if we're gonna blame the defense, well they've tried to
address the defense in the draft. They made efforts. So
I just don't buy this idea that he's a victim
of just a crumbling organization. They've been back to back

(01:04:07):
NFC title games. I don't think they're that far off.
I think that's sort of been misrepresented by a lot
of people. I think it's been terribly misrepresented, but give
him help. Last year he had the number one tight
end touchdowns in the NFL, and Robert tounying. They have
Davante Adam, they have Aaron Jones and David Box, the

(01:04:27):
three guys, the other three guys you mentioned. So this
offense and not having enough weapons, that's a whole load
of something. Um So, so I look at it this way.
Rogers had gone back to back years in eighteen and
nineteen which he threw and twenty six touchdowns ended up,
you know, ending on bad terms with McCarthy. Flora's first year,

(01:04:47):
Aaron Rodgers, by many reports, is ignoring some play calls
and just making his own play call when they left
the huddle. Not inaudible, but just disagreeing with the play call.
There was some issue there last year, and that's why
the Packers draft of Jordan Love back to touchdowns and
and she's with McCarthy previously, with good quence currently and

(01:05:11):
Matt Lafleur, and they're going, okay, it might be a
really good window to transition three years from now, three
years after the draft of Jordan Love, to transition to him.
But then Rogers through a huge wrench into the mix
by being the best Aaron Rodgers it's ever taken the field.
Last year for him is without question, his best year

(01:05:34):
in the NFL, and it's it's pnest issues. And then
he walks on the room and says, you know, if
you don't extend me, I'm not gonna play here. Ah.
You know, not a mass is be a mass until
June two, right, I mean even And I was talking
to Dan Patrick Castrody on his show and Dan said,

(01:05:55):
when it's quiet, a lot of times something's happening. And
this has been a quiet week. Going back to my
original point, there's been no new news from Rogers, no
new news from the Packers. When it's quiet, maybe they're
gonna want something out. I mean, look, I I love
this because I've told Jonas this is all about the money.

(01:06:15):
I understand the powering and stuff. Like he's looking over
and seeing Pat Mahomes and Dak Prescott to those guys
go over forty million. He wants that. Here's the thing, um,
what the Packer fans feel about Mark Murphy because it
appears that he is the ultimate puppeteer, because he's the
guy that's empower over Brian Goodakas and Matt la Fleur.
How do Packer fans view him? Well, I think when

(01:06:39):
he hired Matt Lafleur, Packers fans um, really, I think
we all saw through a little bit of the facade.
Remember that this is maybe weedy, but the Packers went
to a three pronged power approach. Um and the communication
from Brian Goodicus to rust Ball, who handles their finances,

(01:07:01):
to Brian to Mark Murphy's the team president. Those three,
those are the three silos that they now have talked
to one another. Well, Murphy hired Matt Lafleur, Brian Goodcounts didn't,
rust Ball didn't. They hired Matt Lafleur, and it all
went through Murphy and that's worked out brilliantly because I

(01:07:23):
think that I think Matt Lafleur is an outstanding coach.
So Murphy is gonna be judged on maybe how this
works out if Aaron Rodgers leaves next month in a trade.
Murphy's whole, uh, his whole career will be judged on
this decision and how it works out the next two years.

(01:07:44):
Because I, unlike a lot, think that Green Bay is
maybe the co super Bowl favorite in the NFC this
year if Rogers is their quarterback. If he's not the quarterback,
they're not going to the super Bowl with true luck
if he was coming back a trade or with Jordan's
love and the rest of the roster is super Bowl ready.

(01:08:05):
So this has to work. If it doesn't work, Murphy's
Murphy's career looks quite a bit different five years from
now if Rogers is not the quarterback to end his career,
Mike Keller, before we let you go, Um, Packer fans
dealt with Brett Farve leaving, there's the potential Aaron Rodgers
could leave, which was more devastating to the fan base

(01:08:27):
in your opinion, if Rogers leaves, Um, let me add this,
And I think Bucky you'll get this as well, and
Jonas you certainly will. And that is that farm was
loved by the Packer fan base. Rogers the player is loved,
Rogers the person is not because he you know, I

(01:08:50):
know he's from but he his whole lifestyle blended perfectly
other than the accent into Wisconsin's lifestyle, you know, flaws
and all uh, and Aaron's not fit in in that way.
Aaron's done so many great things with the sharitable donations
being benevolent. But Aaron has never been a chief head

(01:09:12):
far blood. So if Aaron goes away, I think, um,
it won't be nearly as tragic as that far divorce.
You know, Roger's career was average. He doesn't end up
being a Hall of famer. That far divorce would haunt
disfranchise in its main base for ever. It worked out differently.

(01:09:33):
Maybe this one will too. Awesome stuff. Get him on
Twitter at Heller Sports. He is the voice of Wisconsin
Sports Radio. Always fantastic Mike Heller joining us here on
fs are Mike, we appreciate it. Don't be a stranger man,
You're one of the real good guys in the business
and we love having you on every time. Jonas Buck
he don't say yes, you call me awesome. He's the best. Thanks, Mike,

(01:09:56):
We appreciate it. Man, see you boys. There is my
Keller good stuff that I thought the part about they
love Aaron Rodgers the player but not the person was
because look, man, a lot a lot don't sugar. He
is a lot high, high maintenance, and I think he

(01:10:17):
really eloquently kind of laid it out there because when
you go through the timeline, people don't go through the
timeline about seventeen eighteen and nineteen. I mean there's a
lot two years where he's basically ignoring Mike McCarthy. Then
Matt la Fleu comes in, he waves off his plays
and doesn't do it. Only after they bring in Jordan's
Love does all of a sudden Aaron Rodgers become complying

(01:10:38):
and play at a high level. And then as soon
as he does that, now he wants all the power
bag like no, no, yeah, it's it's funny. A lot
of people compare Aaron Rodgers to a Jay Cutler. This
is where I think they're different. Jay Cutler literally doesn't
care what anybody thinks. Aaron Rodgers does like Jay Cutler
is good with like whatever you don't like, I don't care.

(01:10:58):
I think. I think Aaron Rodgers is very, very aware
of what people say around him, and he take keeps
notes and he pays attention, and therefore you get situations
like this. All right, Bucky Brooks Jonas knocks here Fox
Sports Radio. We are going to have the Iowa Minute
coming out next year on fs ARE. But for all
the latest from around the World of Sports, Tom brokea

(01:11:19):
who's on the updates today? Yeah? Stop gas man. You
you asked me a few minutes ago about about retro attire,
right like throwbacks? Yes, you know I want to change
my my ask because you you went with a UM.
I believe you went with an O. J. Simpson Bill's jersey, right,

(01:11:40):
and that'd be a good jersey though not really, I'm
gonna go. I'm gonna go with an old school throwback
of I'm gonna respond to a text message from Leedal
lap um Jonas during the break, Lee responded to a
text message I sent him three weeks ago. Oh yeah,

(01:12:03):
Like he doesn't care and it's always I have bad reception.
Lee pretends like he's like living in his standb. Yeah,
I left I left my wallet here in the studio
last week, and so I immediately called him when I
left the studio to ask him if he can grab it.
Dude doesn't pick up the phone. I call, I call
Iowa Sam. A minute later, he picks up the phone

(01:12:24):
and he says, I got it. I come in here,
and he's like, oh, I was talking to Sam. I
couldn't pick up. You know, you get a coordinated you
ad your stories that make stories him straight to his face.
I'm not picking it up. Okay, you know how, all right,
you know how? You know how when you use your
phone to open up your your thumb to open up

(01:12:45):
your iPhone like it recognizes your thumb print. So normally
when you want to make a call, to just open
up your phone you can get to whatever. When Lee
opens up his phone and goes straight to his bumble
app like, it doesn't even like no messing around. He
doesn't care about who called, who texted, He's not interested.
Right to bumble and he's off to the races. That's
how that works, would lead the lab. Well, you can't
miss out on any opportunity. So very good there. He's

(01:13:08):
a class act everybody, real classy guy. Gascons coming up,
Gas coming up? Is it possible to do a trending
report for the next twenty one minutes? Listen the Iowa minute.
Maybe after a week to think about things up in
the mount, could you imagine I was Sam is back
and ready to rob. Could you imagine if you took

(01:13:29):
a could you imagine if Bucky took a week off
during the NFL draft to go hike like I need
to go clear my head. This job is too stressful.
We go take a week off through the NFL draft.
Now I have listen, I have it an under good authority,
um that Iowa Sam says it will be a hefty
edition of the Iowa Minute. Is that correct, Sam? That's

(01:13:50):
the world we're gonna go with. Yes, And this this
update's gonna take to twenty one minutes. We don't get Jesus,
I do have quite a bit of stuff. You go,
we got draft stuff for the Iowa Minutes. So Bucky,
I'm gonna get you involved here, so we get to it.
Let's go, guys. Nationals spoiled a great performance from Max
Scherzer today. He left seven and thirds innings, fourteen strikeouts,

(01:14:14):
two hits, one earned run. They led to one, but
they blew it in the nine thinnings another in extras,
National's three Yankees two Cardinals beat the Rockies nine eight.
And for the fact that I have to get out
of here because that dude over there all you know,
I need this kind of stress here Iowa. Like I'm triggered.
I might go complained. Why don't you go take a

(01:14:34):
hike up in northern California. All right here we go.
Let's can we play nice just for just for a
segment here on the air. That's all we're looking to
do here. We're trying to, you know, present some positive
sports stock radio here. And you guys want to continuously
bring violence to the airwaves. I don't think it's necessary.
Bucky and I are trying to be above board. We're
trying to be a classic individuals. You guys should try

(01:14:55):
it sometime, all right, He is, Thanks Dave, Jonas Knocks
Bucky Brooks here on Fox Sports Radio. You can listen
to the show on the I Heart Radio app. Coming
up next, we have been promised a quote unquote hefty
edition of the Iowa min It. It's been gone a week,
but it is yours. It's back at its next year
on fs ARE. He's Bucky Brooks, I'm Jonas Knox. This
is Fox Sports Radio. By the way, uh Iowa Sam

(01:15:21):
yelled something in my ear rest in peace what as
we were coming back from break That has to do
with this bumper music. Here I Go again by White
Snake featured a very pretty woman named Tawny Kitine who
died recently at the age of fifty nine. I believe
she was featured in this music video. Can you deliver
the news? Can you deliver the news with a little

(01:15:42):
bit more sympathy? Proper? Very good? So there it is. Uh.
It is a Fox Sports Radio welcome in Uh. Coming
up top the next hour, we will continue to take
a look at the quarterback situation around the NFL here
on fs are so that will happen top the next hour.

(01:16:03):
Right now, though, it is time we do something on
the show that we have not done in a week.
And it has been it's felt so good, or at
least in two weeks. We took a week off. It's
been so good. But we are back to where we started.
It's another edition of this and away we go back.
I'm back. Did you miss me? Get the hell out

(01:16:24):
of my wow? I was out backpacking in nature in
rugged northern California last Saturday, doing my business in the woods.
M I wonder if I missed anything. Not Jesus, why
do we agree with this? Now? I know you guys

(01:16:48):
aren't upset about me bringing up the draft again. It's
better than flapping gums about the NBA's m v P
djour right, you know it. We must must cover the
draft selections from the four corners of the Iowa minute. Surprisingly,
though perhaps not to Bucky, it was not raigning Defensive
Player of the Year Iowa defensive tackle Davia and Nixon

(01:17:09):
taken as the first player out of Iowa. We'll get
to that, Bucky, but we fall all the way to
the third round, Hawkeye edge rusher Chauncey Gholston taking eighty
four overall to the Cowboys. He was the first player
taken from the state of Iowa, and just nine picks later,
how about this, he was one of just five FCS

(01:17:29):
players selected in the draft. Large human and offensive tackles
Fencer Brown out of Northern Iowa headed to Buffalo. Fourth round.
We go, well, lookye here, linebacker and pass rusher Ellerton
Smith out of wait for it, Northern Iowa to the
New York Giants. Let's just give it up to the

(01:17:52):
Missouri Valley Football Conference. Only five players drafted from the FCS,
eight from the m VC to from North dakotast eight
two from Northern Iowa. Hey, can I take credit? Can
I take credit? For? Uh? For Ellerson Smith? Ellerson Smith,
Ellerson G. Smith that is in Northern Iowa. I predicted
him going to number two fifty three. Uh, in the

(01:18:14):
bottom ten of my mock draft. I do here at
Fox Sports Radio, So I actually am the reason he
got drafted hundred hundred and seven. So you got his
name out there. I did, Ellerson, Smith and Rusher pumped
him up. Man, damn right. Let me ask you, Bucky.
Only five players taken from the FCS we saw, Um,
there's my music. Uh, we hadn't. We didn't see any

(01:18:37):
players taken from hbc U S. But that had almost
everything to do with March mudnus right the time when
they were playing their season. I mean, only five players
seems pretty low, isn't. You couldn't You couldn't play in
the spring and also enter the draft, right and so okay,
because you get the extra year in the fall, and
so it was more of a bio product with that.
FCS decided to play in the spring, so he really

(01:18:57):
kind of took a bunch of guys out of the mix.
It's crazy five players from she seemed to see a
lot more than that. Um so two panthers off the
board from a team that went three and four? Guys?
Did I miss something? Nobody from that Fiesta BOWLT champion
Iowa State team off the board. You have throw a
hundred and sixteen picks. Wait, sound the alarm. Three picks later,

(01:19:20):
three picks later, I said, the Vikings select running back
Cana Nwangu, who was Briefe Lightning's relief man in Okay.
To be fair, the hype train fry with State football
is charging full steam ahead because Matt Campbell's crew is
returning pretty much intact. Alright. Round five, the Vikings picking
up four your Hawkeye starter Emir Smith Marsette for Kirk

(01:19:42):
Cousins to overthrow and look at jeez. One pick after
I s m the Carolina Panthers beam up defensive tackle
Davian Nixon. Finally, I heard some things, Bucky, But why
did he drop? Was it off the field? Stuff? And
he's a slim guy, He's kind of a smaller demons.
But everyone, everyone is all over the board. And issue
was the hardest one to predict. You just don't know,

(01:20:03):
like it might have been a medical issue. Everything came
in so late. That's true. Alright, we're wrapping up here.
First pick of the sixth round, Chargers take Iowa linebacker
Nick Neeman. His brother Ben Neeman plays for the Chiefs,
so we'll have some sibling interdivision rivalry. How about that?
That'll be fun. And that wraps it up from the

(01:20:25):
Iowa Minute taken in the seventh round and with this
or the Iowa hour, I talk free agent signings, alas
we must move on. Hey, by the way, uh job
well done to Iowa Sam the return episode of the
Iowa I'm not I would say this is one of
his best ones. Don't mess it up, Sam, Sam shop
when you're hit, where You're hit. No, I got to

(01:20:47):
get the music going again. We got forty five seconds's
going on the assless kind. That transfer portal portal is
still in full effect. Whoa whoa whoa happening now? I
don't know. New Iva State men's basketball coach T. J
Otselberger continues to use use that portal to his advantage.
Former Penn State guard Isaiah Brockington, who will be a junior,

(01:21:10):
is coming to Ames after averaging twelve points six points
per game for the Nitneys, which was second on the team,
and former Iowa guard C. J. Frederick made his transfer
to Kentucky official last Wednesday. He is now officially a Wildcat,
with apologies to Drake the school, not the musician, as
your Iowa Minute. Thank you, It is going to be
I have a quick question for you about that last part,
just to come a question, all right, who cares? Why

(01:21:33):
did we finish with that? Why didn't we end on
a high note that you roll out a bag of
crap to finish the Iowa Minute. We gotta rounded up.
So there are dudes and don't and don't rather in
the NFL, and we've identified something that a team absolutely
should not do. And we'll get into that here coming
up in just a couple of moments from now. He's
Bucky Brooks. I'm Jonas Knox. This is Fox Sports Radio.

(01:21:55):
You can hang out with us as always on the
I Heart Radio app and on every single one of
our Fox Sports Radio affiliates. Wherever you are taking part
in this program. We appreciate you making us a part
of your Saturday, and we do it all the way
up until eight p m. Eastern time, five o'clock Pacific,
final hour of the program. And my guy, Bucky Brooks,

(01:22:17):
the hell's happening on a Saturday? Man, It's all good,
all good, great Saturday in the hood. It is h
It's been a lot of fun. Um. I would like
to just point something. I want to get your honest
opinion on something, all right. So you've been a scout
for a long time now, and you've now transitioned to
the analyst side of things when it comes to the
draft and whatnot, when it comes to evaluating players, and

(01:22:41):
you're able to come up with reasons why teams do
the things that they do and make it easy to
understand for people that are listening. Like sometimes you get
these people that are talk all fancy about oh well,
there's this and this scheme and bluh, and you sort
of simplify it so it makes it easier to understand,
which is why you're great at your job and why
people constantly want you on their programs. WI there be

(01:23:03):
Fox Sports one, so on and so forth. So I
need to ask you your professional opinion on this, right,
and I want you to be honest with me, and
this is not These are not Shenanigan's all right. Lead
to lap as a witness. He heard me when I
came up with us on the air. But I have
in my hand here, Bucky Brooks, my bottom ten mock draft.

(01:23:28):
This is the bottom ten of the draft. Now, I
included trades, I included everything from the bottom ten picks
of the seventh round of last week's draft. This is
a tradition. I do it every single year because I
figured anybody can pick the top ten, what about the
bottom ten when when you've got, you know, players that
would rather be free agents because they can pick and
choose where they want to go as opposed to getting

(01:23:49):
drafted and all of that stuff. Now, I just want
to get this out in the open first. I didn't
get one of these, right, al right, not one of
them right? Uh. In fact, most of these guys ended
up being a free agent. Um, we talked about Ellerson
Smith out of Northern Iowa. I did have him going
number two fifty three. He actually ended up going a
hundred and thirty seven picks earlier than that. Jalen More,

(01:24:12):
the offensive lineman out of Western Michigan, he went almost
a hundred picks earlier than when I had him a penned.
So like, none of these actually worked out well at all.
Like like, most of these guys ended up being free agents.
One guy, I don't even think he signed with a team.
But here's what I wanted to ask you, your professional
opinion on I predicted that Ian book would be drafted

(01:24:35):
by the New Orleans Saints. Yes, I have the proof
here ian Book, but I had him going number two
fifty five to the New Orleans Saints. He ended up
going one thirty three. So I only missed that one
by two picks, all right, So I went I was
at least, you know, somewhat in in the range of
where he ended up going. But he went in the
fourth round. But this is where I want to get

(01:24:57):
your professional opinion on what do you think The reason
was that I gave as to why Ian Book was
a natural fit for the New Orleans Saints and Sean Payton.
Like if you, if you were like going to take
a couple of guesses, what would be in your opinion
the reason why I thought Ian Book would be a

(01:25:17):
New Orleans Saint. Maybe because he's he's short of statue
like Drew Brees close. Is there anything else maybe a
playing wise or is there anything about his style of
play that maybe Sean Payton would be into seeing that
he just had Drew Brees Drew Brees anything at all
that can jump out to you. He runs around and
throws a little. He's the all time winning this quarterback
at Notre Dame. Yeah, all of those are credible and

(01:25:42):
truthful and exactly what you would expect from a scout.
Have nothing to do with the reason why I thought
ian Book and this is what a broadcast professional I am.
The reason why I thought Ian Book was going to
the New Orleans Saints was because him and brute Drew
Brees both have birthmarks on their face. Everybody has. Everybody has.

(01:26:07):
Ever there is all right, So I just I saw
it and I said, you know what, man, this feels
like a perfect match. And as it turned out, it
was a perfect match. Bucky Brooks so so Ian Book,
Drew Brees part of team facial birth Mark and are
now members of the New Orleans Listen, man, this a
lead lap. You heard me say that on the air

(01:26:28):
right well ahead of time. Alright, I called my shot.
Did I not leave you very much? Did? Yes? Yeah,
I called my shot. I was basically laughed off the
air by Brady Quinn at the time, but look, I
felt like it was a legitimate to scattering report to give. Okay,
next time he talked to Brady, asked Brady to rank
the Notre Dame quarterbacks between him and Ian Book and

(01:26:51):
let's let's just figure out if Brady ranks ian Book
ahead of him, I'm scou he will say yes, he will, Yes,
he will, he will rank ian Book ahead of him,
and then he'll have a couple of drinks that way, No,
I'm done. Yeah, that that'll be how that works. But
he has a lot of respect for ian Book. Ian

(01:27:12):
Book won a lot of games at Notre Dame, and
that's the guy that you felt like, hey man, you know, look,
at least he got drafted. He probably got drafted. He
felt he was going to get drafted a lot sooner
than a lot of people did. Um just just based
on his competitive nature and just you know, he played
in a lot of big time games. They won a
lot of games. So yeah, I just it felt like
ian Book had a shot in the NFL. And look,

(01:27:32):
the facial birthmark helped. I think that really pushed him
over the edge for the New Orleans Saints. I'm just saying, So,
you have a bunch of people running around getting the
moles like they used to remember a way back in
the day. You have a bunch of a bunch of
a bunch of young kids running around putting on their
marks and stuff like that. That that is a that
is a hell of a you know, cost him if

(01:27:55):
you think about it. If you want to go as
Drew Brees for Halloween, all you would need was a
a fake birthmark on your face and a piece of
notebook paper that was holding up how many records you
set on Monday Night football like they had been back
in the day. That's all you needed. Um. Now, speaking
of the NFC South, you have a little piece of
advice that you came up with on NFL dot com

(01:28:16):
for the Atlanta Falcons. The Atlanta Falcons have a brand
new head coach. Um, they've got uh Kyle Pitts who
is now in in in the locker room based on
their selection at number four pits. And so you've got
just a small piece of advice. It's not that big
of a deal, but a small piece of advice as
far as what they shouldn't do when it comes to

(01:28:37):
their roster currently. Oh yeah, like this is a team
they made a decision at for a couple of things
before you even get to that. When the Atlanta Falcons
decided to resign a restructure Matt Ryan's deal, they locked
themselves into Mandy Ice for the at least the next
two years because it's just prohibitive to to get away
from it. So we go wax poetic about how, hey,
this is a perfect time for them to take a

(01:28:58):
franchise quarterback and those things. Regardless Matt Ryan was going
to be on the team for the next two years.
It just, I mean, just the way the numbers are
on the books, you have to do it. So if
you're going to go that route where Matt Ryan is
your quarterback, Matt Ryan has played as his best when
he has a a I mean like a plethora of
weapons around him. Julio Jones, Calvin Ridley, you're throwing cal pitts.

(01:29:20):
You need that kind of supporting cast around him to
allow him to do his thing, I mean everything to me,
that's that's what he does. And so now that you've
made the choice that Mattie Ice is going to be
the quarterback, it was all about making sure that he
has all the weapons that he needs. That's why this
conversation that we're having on the on shows about Julio

(01:29:42):
Jones and they should move more, should they? Should they not?
Julio Jones has to be a falcon because if he
is a falcon, what it does is he impacts the
entire offense. He makes life easy for Calvin Ridley on
the other side, cal Pitts in the middle, Matt Ryan
being able to find open receivers. He is a difference
maker and a game changers. So they don't have any choice.
The guy has to be around. I think it's a

(01:30:04):
no branding. He has to be Atlanta Falcon going forward.
Like I I never took the because I saw those
reports come out before the draft that the Falcons were
shopping Julio Jones, Like what could you what could you
get for Julio Jones? Now, like could you get a
first round pick for Julio Jones? Because I don't think
that you could. I don't, I really don't. I don't
think you get a first round. I think you can
get a second round. I think at the time the

(01:30:24):
conversation would be like the teams that are desperate for
wide receivers. So for instance, if the Green Bay package
wanted to give a Rogers a makeup gift, they could
gift him Julio Jones, even though it would be cost prohibitive,
because the end they'd be like, hey see, we got
your big weapon to go opposite Damante Adams. If the
Baltimore Ravens were looking to add a veteran WI, this

(01:30:46):
is protege a veteran wide receiver, a number one UM
to compliment what they want to do with Lamar Jackson
in the running game, Julio Jones would fit. Now, I
don't know, man like I don't know. I don't know
exactly where he would He's a great player. I just
don't know who is the team that is in desperate
need of a playmaker like that to come on board. No,

(01:31:08):
I I totally agree. And also here's the other thing.
I've never heard any issues with Julio Jones off the field,
like in a in a league where we hear about
diva wide receivers and diva behavior. He's had some contract battles,
but Bucky, he never it never got ugly. He never
like like it started a little public never get out.

(01:31:29):
But but please believe he's he's like you are when
it comes to the show. He's a little. He might
be a little. I mean I said, sometimes you might
need he might he might he might require like some
pillo green old water and fair enough and avocado and
chicken breast and all that to make sure he's right here.
And I want m ands, but no green ones all

(01:31:49):
over here, like just just those things. But I mean, like, look,
that's what stars do, and that's why you're able to
do what you do, because you have to be comfortable.
And so Hulio has been able to do that in Atlanta.
And by the way, let me just go and take
a sip out of Maya. And this is this is
also truthfull on the air. They just listen to this.
That is a that is power Greens, two bundles of
Power Greens and twenty four hours of water. And and

(01:32:13):
because I like to save a buck. It's not even
in a red solo cup. It's the Walmart brand red cups,
which which don't last very long. But as long as
I rifle through it pretty quick, we're done here. But
like the Julio Jones stuff like, it's never like there's
never really been the issue. So if you're the Falcons,
why not hold on to him, especially if you've a

(01:32:33):
young guy like Kyle Pitts to where look, you can
learn from how to do it the right way. You
can learn from a guy that's that's played the position
at the right way and done a really good job.
I just don't see the benefit and them trading Julio
Jones for a second round pick when you're bringing in
Arthur Smith. And I've heard some people discuss, you know,

(01:32:53):
the issue for them was always on defense. I just
wonder if the Falcons look at this year and go,
we're just gonna try and outscore people, absolutely that it's
gonna If you're Arthur Smith and you're coming in, you
don't want to do a full scale rebuild. You want
to figure out what's the best way for me to
get this team going where we can win some games
while I'm rebuilding on the fly. And the best way
to do it is put the ball in hands Maddie Ice,

(01:33:14):
throw the ball all over the yard, try and find
a running game to balance it out so you can
drain the clock and win games that way while the
defense is improving gradually with picks in those things. And
so I completely understand the mythology the philosophy that Arthur
Smith may be coming with. And then it's just a
matter of can we win enough games to be competitive

(01:33:35):
in the NFC South, And then in year two, can
we fix the defense to see if we can become
a playoff team or better? Do you Okay, if you
had to pick right now order of finish in the
NFC South, what order you going with? Because I think
it's one of the most interesting divisions in football because
I just look, I like Tampa Bay a lot. Just so,

(01:33:56):
so let's go Tampa first. Then we have to player
on playing rock paper scissors with myself over here, all right,
let's it's better better than doing something much alright, So
then then it comes down to, honestly, like the Atlanta
Falcons offense is better than the rest of him. But

(01:34:19):
then I will say this, the wild court is the
Mighty Sam Donald in Carolina, right yes. And the reason
why I called him the Mighty Sam Donald because is
I mean he is he's a superhero. He's a superhero,
like he's a guy. He's a guy who though he
despite ranking to the bottom of the chart every category,
like he's ready to pop right now. This is the

(01:34:40):
best this is the best cast that he has around him.
And so I'm gonna go Atlanta, Oh, then New Orleans,
then Carolina. See, and I think New Orleans is up
in the air because I look, they've got a lot
of talent on the roster, but we don't know how
the quarterbacks you're gonna play. I mean, but even yeah,
I know, and even with that, that's like I I think,

(01:35:02):
I think it's a division that's gonna eat its own.
I really do. I think. I think, I don't know.
I don't know that anybody in that division is gonna
is gonna sweep another team. I think everybody's gonna have
a bunch of division losses and it's going to be
a battle all the way to the end because I
don't know who's got a clear cut advantage over anybody else.
I just I mean, Tampa Bay feels like the best team.
They're getting everybody back, but man, you never know when

(01:35:24):
when when Tom Brady takes a hit the wrong way,
like we're like, we're you're always a play away, it's
seemingly of of that whole ending going a different way.
I just I think that's one of the most interesting
divisions of football that in the NFC West, I think
are the two most interesting divisions of football, because I
have no idea which way it's going to go. I
really don't the NFC West, I think it's crazy. I'm

(01:35:45):
with you on that, get it, But you know, the
the great Yeah, the great Sam Donald. He is back
rising from the ashes. It was Adam Gaze's fault. It
was everybody else in New York's fault, not Sam Donald.
But he is back and finally as a a successful
organization to go to as they draft a long snapper, uh,

(01:36:07):
which actually was a big fan of all Right, Bucky
Brooks Jonas Knocks Fox Sports Radio. You can listen to
the show on the I Heart Radio app. Coming up next,
we're going to ask a former NFL quarterback now analyst
his thoughts on the quarterbacks to start the fastest when
it comes to the rookies, and we're not talking about
the top two, we're talking about the other guys. We'll

(01:36:28):
get to the bottom of that next year. On fs ARE.
He's Bucky Brooks, I'm Jonas Knocks. This is Fox Sports Radio.
Coming up. In ten minutes from now here on fs ARE,
we will get to uh a little something we call
in the Gutter with David Gascon. We will take you
into the gutter of sports talk radio and beyond it
is yours ten minutes from now here on fs ARE.

(01:36:51):
Right now, he is anything but the gutter of sports
talk radio. He is the great Bruce Gradkowski, former NFL quarterback,
now analyst and pro football because joining us here on
Fox Sports Radio, Bruce Jonas and Bucky What the hell
is going on at the Gradkowski house right now? What
sort of craziness are you dealing with? Well? I just
I was, you know, tuning in, and I just thought

(01:37:12):
I heard like Will Smith song and I was like,
you know what, that would be a perfect theme song
for you too? Is Will Smith's just the two of us?
All right? Very good? So that that was like a
good dame. But no, nothing, you know, nothing too crazy.
We just got out of church, we went to dinner
for a bite and um then I'm telling you what.
I'm hoping to get the kids a bit early tonight.

(01:37:34):
Last night was a late night and I wouldn't mind
sitting back watching a good movie with my wife. So
any good recommend recommendations for tonight Prime, Netflix and any
movies you Tube seeing later? You? Uh? All right, let
me just say this on recommendation from Lee. Alright, Lee
the lap who is our movie insider? Lee? Would you
we call him? Uh we we haven't even come up

(01:37:56):
with it with a name yet, but we'll call him
something that's moving like Lee Cinema or whatever you want
to call. But lead to lab is our movie insider
and little known fact. By the way, did you know
lead de laps Dad? It was the drummer for Michael J.
Fox's band in the movie Back to the Future. That
was it. The Yeah, yeah, I mean he doesn't return

(01:38:21):
my text messages whatever by that, but Lee Lee recommended me,
um the movie Sound of Metal and Um, if you
haven't seen it, Bruce, that's a damn good movie. I
watched it. I watched it last week. Yeah, it's on
the Amazon Prime Amazon Prime. Yeah, Sound of Metal. Yeah, alright,
good stuff. So there it is, all right, So we

(01:38:42):
we move away from that over to the situation involving
Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers. Bruce Gradkowski, we've
heard all sorts of rumors, some stuff that's come out
his unhappiness contract offers, um, you know, them looking for
core backs in in O T A s because they're
not quite sure. It's been kind of quiet this week.

(01:39:05):
But then you hear stuff like where do you land
on this Roger stuff? And how do you think this
gets handled? When it comes to his future in Green Bay?
Man you know, I'm so intrigued to see what happens
the rest of the off season and before the season
because I just feel like from the things we hear
um and just just looking back at Aaron Rodger's career too,

(01:39:27):
it's like I think he's like, you know, he's gonna
draw a line. And I don't think he budgetes. I mean,
I I think it's something where it's not gonna matter
to him money wise. Um, And I think he's just
kind of over it in a sense. And you know,
and I've I've had multiple radio shows this week going
back and forth and you know, uh, one of my

(01:39:49):
co hosts, he's on the other side, not Brogner's side.
You know, I kind of like, what what did they
even do to him? But I think it's just accumulation
over the past few years. I think Rogers is in
those meeting rooms, he's at practice, he sees where Jordan's
love is and I'm talking after the fact of when
they already drafted him, which which picked him off. So

(01:40:13):
he's looking at him thinking, so, this is the guy
taken over for me. Yet I still don't feel like
you're you know, investing in me, building around me. Extending
my contract, like all these things, and I think it
just got to the point where now he's shut off,
he kind of tuned them out. He's shutting it down emotionally.

(01:40:34):
So I'm just I'm very intrigued of how this can
really come back together. I feel like watching Rogers last year,
it looked like he was having fun. I felt like
with him, Matt, Matt Laflour and Nathaniel hack it offensively,
they all got along. It looked like, you know, they
were having a good time. Of course they're being successful
as well. So's this really interesting to me how this

(01:40:55):
is gonna play out? But because I can't see, um,
how this is gonna calm down. And I think at
the end of the day, guys, we talk about it
all the time, and the number one thing is communication.
So I think throughout the last few years there's just
been a lack of communication somewhere, uh, to get it
to this point. Hey, Bruce, Aaron Rodgers has been a

(01:41:18):
diva right like litten like, let's like let's be real, like,
let's let's let's go back to the young Brucekirtkowski And
I'm going to I'm going to transport you and I'm
gonna put you in the Green Bay package uniform, and
I'm going to name you the starter, and I'm gonna
give you some of the coins that Aaron Rodgers has,
and I'm gonna give you the weapons that he has.
Are you going to the office and complaining about the
stuff that he has around? Are you, as the young

(01:41:39):
Bruce Gretkowski complaining like, hey, I need I need even
more based on what they have? An all Pro receiver,
a top five running back. Last year, I think you
guys had the best offensive line in football. Like, what
are we really talking about? What else does he need
besides more cheese on the burger in terms of money? Well,
I'll tell you what, Bucky. You know that young Bruce
ki the sixth rounder out of Toledo. You know, so

(01:41:59):
I was I was thankful for any you know, crumbs
on the table. I was taking it. I was, you know,
grateful for it. Uh and everything like that. And then
to the other point to Bucky, all of us quarterbacks
are diva. I mean, I'm I'm more of you know,
the women in our relationship than my wife. Like I'm

(01:42:20):
the one that's particular, um picky, I want things my
way I'm the one that spends the money. She doesn't.
So hey, man, we're all divas, and I think, yes,
that plays a partner. Yes, I think, you know, Rogers
is being a little bit of a diva here. But
I also think, guys, look how the league has been lately,

(01:42:43):
and guys are taking their careers in their own hands.
And I think that's where Rodgers is right now, is
understanding like, look, I don't have like a ton of
time left to play, but I have some good years left.
I want to take my career in my own hands,
and I could stir something up and maybe I could
go so where else to play because I think it
would be nice to play somewhere else. And who knows

(01:43:03):
what's going through his head, But I think at the
end of the day, he's taking his career into his
own hands, and that's where you're seeing that. Bruce, did
you Bruce Gradkowski joining us here on Fox Sports Radio.
Former NFL quarterback, now an analyst for Pro Football Focus. Now,
I know Jonah knocks Bucky Brooks of the here, and
now I know that you played pretty early on in
your NFL career. Were you the starter day one in

(01:43:25):
Tampa or was there an injury that took place and
you got into the game. Yeah. Now, so I was
the sixth rounder, working my tail off in the off season,
trying to learn Gruden's crazy offense. And it was like
weeks three, week three or four, because I think we
were owing three at the time, So it was the
fourth week of the season. Chris Simms. That's when you
graptured his spleen against the Yeah, against against the Carolina Panthers,

(01:43:49):
And I remember Sims would come to the sideline and
I'm backing him up, and I remember him just, uh,
you know, he's just kind of talking like that and
he's like kind of holding where his ribs are. He's like, man,
I just I don't know, man, it was my ribs.
And I was like, yeah, maybe get that shot up.
I gotta shot up in college. It made me feel better.

(01:44:10):
I'm lucky he didn't listen to me. I mean, you know,
it was it was his spleen. But um. But so
after that, we had like a bye week and then
we played the Saints in the Superdome Drew Brees Sean Payton,
and I remember was my first start through for like
two d twenty seven yards, two touch sounds note picks
and Reggie Busher turned the punt on us. It was

(01:44:30):
a great game back and forth. But that was my
first start in the Superdome. So yeah, it was Chris
Simms got injured, which kind of pushed me forward to
start eleven games. But it was, you know, it was
I'd learned the offense quick I thought Gruden was a
great teacher. I felt like his offense and the timing
and footwork that you had to play with that was

(01:44:50):
that was my strength. And then I just naturally, like
you know, I was athletic. I could run for first
downs and stuff like that, and I think Gruden really
liked that. Um So it was quick man. It was
the fund you know, quick start because then in No.
Six you don't get a lot of rookies start right away,
especially six rounder. So I learned a lot that year,
and I wish sometimes I could go back to that

(01:45:11):
because I felt like at times I could have played
better and taken more advantage of that opportunity. So and
the reason I ask you that is because of the
three quarterbacks that that we're being told they're not the starters,
they're gonna be the backups. We hope they sit for
a long time. It's tray Lance, it's Justin Fields, and
it's Mac Jones. Who would you have the most confidence

(01:45:34):
in right now if they went through something similar to you,
god forbid an injury to the starter, that you would
have the most confidence they could come in right now
and play at a high enough level to win games
in the league. Is it Tray Lance, Justin Fields or
Mac Jones? Oh man, that's you know, that's a great question.
And because I mean, you guys have already pointed out

(01:45:55):
for I'm an optimistic dude, so I could kind of,
you know, give them all the benefits of the doubt
if that opportunity came. Because you look at Trey Lands,
he's with a good coach, so he's gonna set him
up for success. If that running game is going plays
and pass the bootlegs, his athleticism to run the football,
he could he could maybe do pretty well. I'm just

(01:46:16):
concerned a little about Trey lances accuracy at times, you know,
justin fields. I think that the thing intriguing about justin fields.
You know many there there's nothing but upside here. No,
there hasn't been a quarterback that played well in Chicago
for a long time. So if he gets a chance
to play, you know, and they have a good defense

(01:46:37):
around him, good team, and now he brings those splash
plays with his legs. Fans love athletic quarterbacks that can
run and just die for first down and make plays.
So I feel like Justin Fields can really spark that organization.
And then I look at Mac Jones. I mean Mac Jones,
depending on how everything shakes out, I mean, this offense

(01:46:58):
is similar to Alabama. He he's gonna operate the right way,
He's going to get to the right play, he's gonna
throw it to the right receiver, and he's going to
be ACTI with it. So that would be intriguing to
me too. But I just think, you know, pure ability. Um,
it would be interesting to see Justin Fields played because
of that, but I think it would benefit Trey Lance

(01:47:19):
and Justin Fields to sit. I think Mac Jones could
really uh do a good job if he got an
opportunity to play in New England Universe. She just real
quick because we're having some guys go to rookie minicamp. Um,
if you could whisper in Zach Wilson's here before he
went to camp. What would you tell Zach Wilson to
focus on doing these two or three days that you're

(01:47:42):
really having an orientation with the team. Yeah. I mean
I remember when Gruden when I had my rookie minicamp,
Gruden sat me down. He's like, look, man, everyone's gonna
be nervous as crap. Go out and just have fun.
Light in the mood, bring the guys around you, and
just have fun with it. And I think with Zach
and I would say that, but I would also say, look, man,

(01:48:05):
you don't have to do it all. Just execute the offense,
listen to your coach, do what do what your coach
to do. And I think a lot of young quarterbacks
that's where we get stuck because we try to do
too much. We try to overthink things. And I was
almost I was playing just dumb when I first got
to Tampa. Like I was just really like operating what

(01:48:26):
I was told to do, how I could do it,
and I wasn't overthinking. All of a sudden, halfway through
the year when I started having some bad games, we
were playing bad, I just was overthinking. I was I
knew what to do, but I was like, but what's
Growden want me to do and then that's when you
get stuck. So I think to any young quarterback and
during this time, it's like, look, man, don't overthink it,

(01:48:48):
trust yourself, trust the preparation you're gonna put in. But
just have fun with it. And like I said, don't
try to do too much. Just execute the play that's
called and worst case scenario, just getting completion. Bruce Gradkowski,
former NFL quarterback, now an analysts for Pro Football Focus.
Always good stuff. Get him on Twitter at b Gradkowski five. Bruce.

(01:49:09):
I don't know what movie you're gonna select or or
go with tonight, but enjoy time with the wife. You've
earned it. Another phenomenal performance here on Fox Sports Radio.
You guys are the one more time. What was that movie?
Get uh? Sound of Metal? That's the name of the movie, rightly,
Sound of Metal, Sound Metal. Yeah, according to us Siskel

(01:49:32):
and Liebert behind the scenes, So that is that's the movie. Bruce.
We love you man, We appreciate it. Thanks so much.
We'll do it again next week. Hey, have a great weekend.
There he is, uh, Bruce Gradkowski here on Fox Sports Radio.
What did he say? He's more of the woman in
his relationship that his wife is because he's a former

(01:49:54):
NFL quarterback. Well, listen, you know there's some diva to it.
That's all right, yes, um, all right, Bucky Brooks Jonas
knocks here on fs are we're going to go into
the gutter of sports talk radio. Literally, we'll do that next,
but for all the latest from around the world of
sports ladies and gentlemen. Gosh man, David Gascott, I don't know,
I'm gonna go. We're gonna have a chance to go

(01:50:14):
in the gutter. We're gonna have time. I don't know.
Asca you know, the guys behind the scenes as Lee
and I was saying, Bucky and I are just passengers
here there the uperer. You act like they're paying attention.
What okay? Now I'm hearing rumblings that Lee is not
in the studios that blue dog. Yeah, I knew it.
There's a watering hole right next to us, by the way,

(01:50:34):
they plan on making their beers cold. Ever, or is
it just gonna just saying are you getting offended? For
Sam Well? I just was stepping into uh to defend Lee.
He is in the studio, he's talking to Bruce and
we are always paying attention. I played just the two
of us on the way out. If Bruce was leaving,
that sucks. Stinks. Yeah, watch yourself. Unbelievable, guys, it's all over.

(01:50:57):
Yankees walk off from the Nationals. Fourth was the final.
They spoil a performance from Max Scherzer with fourteen strikeouts
and seven and one thirds innings. He left the ball
game leading to one, but they blew it. In the ninth.
Cardinals nine eight winners over the Rockies, Cubbies three two
winners of the Pirates. San Francisco beat up on San
Diego seven of one was the final, Raise get closed

(01:51:18):
out on by Oakland six to three. In the Bay Area.
On the ice, Rangers beat the Bruins and the Penguins
one nothing winners over the Sabers. NBA will get things underway.
Most of the action tonight, obviously, areas of concerned for
some of the guys here jonas you know, Lebron, Anthony Davis. Yeah,
I was gonna say, I mean, as as that all
going for everybody? Fun, fun time to be an l

(01:51:39):
a sports fan with the Dodgers and Lakers take a
turn crapping down their legs like why god man, I
wanted awful week and the Lakers get blown out by
the Clippers and the Dodgers get hammered by the Angels.
Just a little brother beating your ass and back to
back nights. How about that. I gotta gotta explain it.
For a lot of the national audience. That may not

(01:51:59):
be a because we have a lot of fanboys of
the network and some of the teams lose. You have guys,
you have actually employees here that won't show up for
work that that day or night. That is a true story.
That is a true story. I can talk about like
safe spaces on campuses like cal Berkeley. We got one here,

(01:52:20):
Oh yeah, yeah, there's They just hide out. They want
no part of, no part of this when their team loses.
It's actually unbelievable if you think about it, is literally
like depressed because some twenty three year old who doesn't
know who they are didn't score enough points for their
team to win a game, and they're upset about it.

(01:52:41):
Maybe maybe you should do like it in the gut
or just airing out those people, you know. Listen, I'm
not into that. Let's start with Iowa, Sam, I'm about that.
I don't know that by the way, Dave, are you
okay if we do in the gut or next segment
or do you have to run? I know you're a
very busy man. Usually are hanging out in her I
gotta go, I gotta go. Sit in traffic for nine minutes, okay? Well,

(01:53:01):
I mean, listen, we could always do it from the car.
Who knows what technology? Now were you planning on getting
to the Francisco Lindor Jeff McNeil, lie, that was told
last night? All right, you hear this one, Bucky, This
complete load of Oh my god, I listen, I've heard

(01:53:22):
of lies before. That's an all timer. Just you guys
gotten a skirmish in the dugout and they come out
with it was we were arguing over whether or not
it was a a New York rat or a raccoon.
This d like what like? Come on, man, you couldn't
do better than that. I mean, I appreciate the effort,
but that's just a bag of crap, Bucky Brooks, that's

(01:53:43):
a lie. Guys lying like you don't think their raccoons
in New York? I think there are rats. I I don't.
I don't think they were arguing about it in the clubhouse.
I mean, but you know, it's something there. It's something.
There was a flood in the area and and there's
like bodies and roading swim around the stadium. Let me
come on, it is New York. Though. I do hear

(01:54:05):
that rats get to be the size of raccoons in
these big cities. I have heard that. Well, yeah, because
they eat well the pizza. Yeah, if you're a rat
in New York, all you do is just go hang
out and dumpsters and eat pizza like literally, which is
in the middle of the streets too, because they dump
all their garbage in front of the buildings. I see.
I'd be willing to bet right now that rats in

(01:54:26):
New York at least of them have diabetes. I'll be
I be wanting to make that bet with anybody right now,
because it's not pizza. It's some sort of dessert that
was thrown out or or some Yeah, I'm telling you,
do you think Do you think they have diabetes because
they got vaccinated and then went to Crispy Kream's after
a show their vaccine card. I don't know. I don't know.

(01:54:49):
I don't like, I don't I don't know anything about this.
There's a lot of times I make you feel comfortable.
But just you know, I just listen. I'm just I'm
just looking out for the rookies that are going to
be in Bills training camp. I hope they can survive
and not being vaccinated. I just you know, I hope
that's uh, that's gonna be okay. Man, all right, Jonah

(01:55:11):
sucks Bucky Brooks here on Fox Sports Radio. You can
hang out with us on the I Heart Radio app.
Coming up next, we are going to go into the
gutter if we didn't already literally into the gutter of
sports talk radio and at yours next year on fs
are get your mind out of the gunner. Oh yeah,
I got this red Yeah, I could see this. I

(01:55:32):
could see Bucky Brooks back in the day, top down
on the convertible this with his buddies after a big
win in high school football on a Friday night, seventy
degree weather. I could see this. I did. I did
have a convertible Firebird with not a fire not a convertible,
but I had tea tops on the Firebirds t tops

(01:55:54):
keep staying m h, I mean listen to you know, Uh,
I I too had a like a vintage truck like
back in the day that I never took care of
it was it GMC sierra uh, and a lot of
people called it the produce truck because it would be
like one of those things you see on the freeway

(01:56:14):
carrying produce in the back. It was not the most
appealing thing in the world. So I don't know. I
don't have the car, Um. You know, I don't have
that car background or resume like you do. Bucky Brooks.
Not as fortunate as you. Listen, and I would have too,
I mean I would have too. I had chevron legs
back in high school. I was walking everywhere. There was

(01:56:36):
no no car insight for me. Um. Now, let me
let me just ask you this. Do you think this
is a good approach, Bucky? Because we've got Canelo Alvarez
Billy Joe Saunders coming up tonight, big fight in boxing.
I'm gonna be at my in laws house there of
course Mexican, Um, and I am going to root for
Billy Joe Saunders during this fight because because they all

(01:57:00):
love Canelo, and I figured, you know what, why don't
we why don't we throw a wrench into the whole
thing all cheer for Billy Joe Saunders, even though I
don't think he's gonna win, just to piss a bunch
of people off, I think that would be the way
to go. That's where that's what I do. You know,
that's the same Canello that Mayweather he did. Yeah, Mayweather.

(01:57:20):
By the way, Mayweather, I'll give him credit for this.
He sure does. No win to fight guys is supposed
to do so. I mean, I just it's it's a
it's very well played by him, by the way. Speaking
of well played, it's time for another edition of something
we do on the show, and it's called this And

(01:57:49):
here we go. The gas Man himself, David Gascon, is
here to drop nothing but good stories with us on
our laps here as we conclude the show here on
a Saturday. What's up, David? Not much us? What was
the last time you're in South Carolina two thousand, fourteen
or fifteen while ago? Yeah? Alright, Well things have changed

(01:58:09):
and I don't know if you know about this, but
a lot of frustration but the lack of drugs that
are available out there for certain things to be done well.
The great state of South Carolina, guys, lawmakers have now
voted to add a firing squad as an alternative to
the electric chair or lethal injections coming to a theater

(01:58:30):
near you. That. I mean, I'm just gonna say this,
go ahead. It's a great segment. Maybe maybe the timing
isn't the greatest for South Carolina to come out with
a firing squad option, you know, maybe maybe maybe it's
not the best timing in the world for something like that.
Just saying like, what do we do it here? I mean, like,

(01:58:54):
I just like what's happening? I mean Singapore Canes, you
know what? Going back to that, like, like what's going
on here? I mean, you were good with you were
good with Lorenzo and the shotgun and said a certain
house against Officer Hoyt. Yeah, it's listen. That's Denzel Washington
and his best roll ever. He can get away with
anything in that movie. I mean, come on now, I

(01:59:16):
mean he listen. He rolled up a Chinese food menu
and use it as a warrant to get into somebody's house,
and he can do whatever the hell he want. I
want to see that warrant warrant. Oh boy, guys, that
we do a little bit, we do things a little differently,
and here in California. A man is under some some

(01:59:37):
hot water right now and and some fire because well,
he received five million dollars part of a P P
P loan program by the Great State of California. Guys,
he proceeded to buy a Ferrari, a Bentley, and a Lamborghini.
He's used about five million dollars that of a P
P P loan that's been given to him, but the
Great State of California. And here to answer for himself,

(01:59:59):
Bucky Brooks. Listen, man, if if somebody's gonna always try
and cut corners and scam somebody else, it's just the
way it's gonna be. Like we we just like, I
don't know why people get surprised by these stories. It
was it was, it was it Josh Bellamy who was
the former I think it was. He played for the Bears,

(02:00:20):
he played for the Jets, and I think he used
his loan or whatever he got from the government during
COVID and he went out and bought a bunch of
jewelry and scam some people and got arrested by Yeah,
I mean, none of the stuff like that. Speaking of that, guys,
staying here in California, a bar owner has just been
arrested for selling undercover agents fake COVID nineteen vaccine cards,

(02:00:48):
looping total of twenty dollars. You could get your own
fake vaccine card. He just got popped. Fifty years of
age slinging vaccine cards. Welcome to California. I mean, look again,
if there's a way to make a buck, you're gonna
try and make a buck. Like if you would have
told me two years ago, Hey man, two years from
now people are gonna be selling fake vaccine cards. Like,

(02:01:08):
what are you talking about? Man? Put down the put
down the methan fetamans and here we are, Dave, here
we are. Oh boy? How about this? In Utah? A
woman who disappeared five months ago, Um, she was found. Guys. Uh,
there's a big search for this woman. Five months ago
she was missing in action. She was discovered at a
campsite she had built up for herself, just forty seven

(02:01:31):
years of age. She's fifteen miles south of Provo. She
set up a camping site and the authorities finally found
her after a drone had crashed in that area. Well,
hold on, so, I mean, why did she had arrested
her anything? Nothing at all? So she just got lost. No,
she didn't get lost at all. She just set up
a campsite and she disappeared for a hot minute. Hey

(02:01:51):
good for her. Man. Let me tell you something. Some
people like to just set up shop anywhere and live.
Reminds me of Venice. Yeah, well, speaking of that. While
we were at break Iowa, Sam showed me a bunch
of pictures he called see Alis photos from his trip
in northern California. How about that? Not enough time to

(02:02:11):
explain I would like to not see those. Uh,
