Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports. Oh that is us everyone.
Good evening, Aaron Torres, aren't he Span your right here
on Fox Sports Radio? Great Saturday night. How you doing tonight,
Doras Arnie, I'm doing well man. How you doing, Buddy? Good?
Good Eddy? Any fun stuff today? You go out and
about or just stay at home and prep for the

(00:23):
show tonight. Well, thank you for asking. My mom is
in town for Mother's Day. It's right. Happy Mother's Day, everybody.
Thank you. Happy Mother's Day to best Span here as well,
since you'll probably forget tomorrow, so Happy Mother's Day to Beth.
But yeah, no, my sister lives in San Diego. So
we met halfway. We got some lunch. I got a
nice little tan. I know that you probably still have
eight feet of snow on the ground there, but I

(00:44):
have never looked better. Let me say that, Look at you?
Look at you? You know what's so funny? As I
called my son, I go, did you get your mom
a card? He goes, yeah, I have it right here.
I'll mail it tomorrow. What is wrong with you? What
is wrong with you? After his dead? Gosh if I
go for all those no mail on Sunday? And I go.
He goes, well, just get there a little bit late, like,

(01:04):
are you better do something? You better figure it out.
The funny thing is there is literally no person in
America that knows the male system better than his mom.
Because you said about eighty packages here every Christmas, which
we all appreciate. And when I say you, I mean
your wife, you have something to do with it. So
his mom probably knows the post is system better than
any person in America. So all he had to do

(01:25):
is call and ask her, Hey, if I put this
in the mail, when will it get there exactly? You know,
just by the way. Yes, I hope everybody has a
great Mother's Day tomorrow. We get an early start here
since it's almost midnight, so it's almost Sunday, So I
hope everybody enjoys their Mother's Day. We do have a
lot to get do today though. It is a busy show,
so if you want to get in, be part of
the show. Aaron underscore torres, I'm a stinking genius one.

(01:49):
Obviously a lot of people are talking about are are
you all Aaron Rodgers out yet? Or no? Not yet?
Am I all Aaron Rodgers out? No? I don't I
wouldn't sam all Aaron Rodgers out. I am fascinated by
what's gonna happen, but I'm not all Aaron Rodgers out
by any stretch of the imagination. You know what I
want to say is um before even say who's right,

(02:10):
Aaron Rodgers? What the latest rumors are, what's going to happen?
My thing is this. Whenever a superstar, like let's say it,
Anthony Davis, um Aaron Rodgers, whenever they demand the trade,
the team never gets full market value um when they
go ahead and trade him. You know that, we all
know that it's not even close. Sometimes you don't even
get fifty cents on the dollar. UM. It would be

(02:32):
so much better if we made it easier for the
teams that are being like health hostage in this case,
to trade and work. It doesn't count, you know, you
get well that counts against the cap. You're you're you
have to wait till after June one. What difference doesn't
make before June one? After June one, ease some restrictions
up so it isn't so painful. So when a superstar says,

(02:54):
I want Addie here, Okay, you're gonna lose his talent
but maybe it doesn't hurt you in the pocket, and
it doesn't hurt your team when it comes to cap
and all that. You know, Yeah, I mean sure, in
a perfect world, I think you just want the trade
so we have something definitive to talk about. I mean, yes,
I don't know why. I gotta wait till June onet anyway,

(03:15):
but go ahead. That's as you say. I don't think
even if there were no cap restrictions, and in the NBA,
you gotta match this with that, and that's salary. I
don't think the Packers are gonna a rush to trade
them and and and the organization has said as much
this week, So whatever, I mean, I get what you're saying,
because I do think it's certain points. There are times
where that kind of stuff holds stuff up. But at

(03:36):
the end of the day, does it really though? Aren't
you know? Listen, Jared Goff got traded with that abysmal
contract this offseason, Carson Wentz got traded, and uh, who
knows who what what's gonna happen with that trade. But
I don't know that that's the biggest issue. I just
think the biggest issue is can you bring them back
in all those kind of very well, just again, Becau,
we weren't out all week. Um, you can't bring them back.

(03:58):
It's it's it's too little too late. Um, there's too
many bad feelings out there, especially what was released. I
wish you would, you know. I love this because this
is like, did you did you and your wife get
a divorce? The first time? You guys got a little
bit a little argument. First time you left the toilet
seat up? She was following, I never leave the toilet

(04:18):
seat up, but go ahead, yes, go ahead? Well first
time you uh, first time he sent her out with
a shovel during the northeaster. Did she did she? Did
she demand a divorce? Or did she say, hey, Rny,
maybe next time you help me out. What do you
say it's not too little too late that that they
can always make up and move on, because, um, I
don't see that happening. I think there's already too much
dirty water out there and there's no way that they're

(04:40):
going to be able to coexist. You say it's about
every guy that demands a trade. You said this about
Russell Wilson. Russell will wasn't still a seahawk. As far
as I could tell. He wasn't He wasn't really taking shots.
Come on, let's be on. He gave them four teams
and said, yeah, you know if you want to trade me.
The rumors about him saying stuff about the general manager

(05:00):
and calling him, I mean, come out, we're calling him
Jerry krause Um. You know, there's the animosity there. This
is not something that we oh, there's alleged reports. You
could feel the animosity. We haven't even heard from from
Aaron Rodgers. Can you imagine what would would be like
if these two were in the room together. You know
that there's a lot of bad blood. And by the way,

(05:22):
why is it so tough to just say goodbye? The
Patriots do it all the time. I mean, the Patriots
could say goodbye to Tom Brady. Okay, so they made
a mistake that usually, oh many mistake that may set
their franchise back thirty years. This isn't getting rid of
a backup defensive tackle or a thirty eight sayn't get
rid of chad Ocho Cinco when he's thirty six years old.

(05:43):
We're talking about now. They're going to get rid of
him either now or next year. There's no way he's
going to play after this year. You you understand that,
don't you. He he's just not coming back. So if
if you're going to get rid of him after next year,
why not just going and do it now one year early.
See what you can get. He doesn't want to be there.
He wants to move on with his life. You've already

(06:05):
drafted a quarterback. You you know, it's so funny, You like,
did you you and your wife want to go and
get a divorce the first time you have a fight.
Well maybe not, but when she's picking out her second
husband before, I'm already gone, Hey, come on now, he
can't get over something like that. You gotta move on.
And why is it so tough to move on from
somebody like that with one or two years left of

(06:28):
him having productivity. I don't know why. Why it's so
tough to do that, Torres, Because he just won the
m v P. That's why this isn't Andy Dalton, this
isn't Cam Newton. This is the m v P of
the league. And I mean, and how many Super Bowls
has that got you for the last decade? How many
super Bowls? Is Jordan's loved one? I I haven't checked

(06:50):
this Wikipedia lately. I have to look that up second
to commercial break. Yeah, you go ahead and look that up.
But I'll get back to you on that, you know.
I just it's a Let me just say, I think
it's a very interesting scenario. I I think the Packers
have to do something. They they gotta they gotta do
something make Aaron happy. And oh, by the way, maybe

(07:11):
you are right. Maybe they do believe that Jordan's love
is ready to take over and play at an m
v P level. Now, we have no proof that that's
the case, because considering that he wasn't even dressing for
games late in the year. So there's clearly something. And
so here's the thing. Everything in life is a negotiation, right, Um, hey, honey,
you shovel the driveway. I'll whatever you do at your house.

(07:33):
I don't know, but there has to be something that
they can do this this week we heard that there
was also issues with his contract. He wants an extension,
they want to restructure, on and on and on, and
so I I do agree with you that, Hey, Packers,
I don't know who you think you are. I don't
know who you think you're gonna be without Aaron Rodgers.
You gotta give a little something to the league m

(07:55):
v P when he is not happy? What what did you?
I don't know who you think you are without Aaron
Rodgers tonight, Let let me ask you maybe maybe there
was something broke? Good by headphones? I get new headphones? Yes? Yeah?
Who who are the Green Bay Packers there? Because because
the Packers were nobody before Aaron Rodgers, right, and there'll
be nobody after. You know who was that nobody before

(08:18):
Aaron Rodgers? Matt, you know you know who wasn't nobody
before Aaron Rodgers? What is this guy, Brian Gutenhorsed whatever
his name is, Yeah, close enough? Who cares? I don't
know how to say his name because he's irrelevant because
he's nobody. He's a dude in a suit. He's not
the guy rolling out to the right throwing across his
body a dart to Davante Adams or whoever for a touchdown.

(08:41):
And so the point I'm trying to make, Yes, the
Green Bay Packers organization was something without Aaron Rodgers. But
guess what. You know who we're gonna talk about later.
The Los Angeles Lakers great organization over a seventy year period.
What were they for a four or five year stretch
before they got Lebron We're very good. They weren't very
good at all. And my only point is the Green

(09:02):
Bay Packers. I mean, listen, maybe maybe they do want
to start over. And I think this is gonna be
a theme throughout the show. You brought up the name
Jerry Krauss. Maybe this is Tom Brady and Bill Belichick
and it's just not gonna work. Maybe it is Michael
Jordan and the Bulls and it's just not gonna work.
I just don't understand the concept of making your your
your MVP quarterback, your m v P again, not Annie

(09:24):
Dolan here. I just don't understand why you're going. You
seemingly are going out of your way to make him
unhappy when he wants to feel respected by the organization.
You've already made him unhappy when you drafted Jordan Loves
So you know, I don't think I've already forgotten about that,
because I have. And if you're Aaron Rodgers, but um
let me, I'm not going I'm not going out of

(09:45):
my way to make it worse. But but Aaron, you're
not going to give him an extension. They don't want
to give him an extension. He's thirty eight years old. Look,
there's only one Tom Brady that can play till your
forty five. Doesn't mean Aaron Rodgers is going to do
the same. And don't compare of the two. You want
to look at super bowls. If he would have had
five or six super bowls, maybe he would have got

(10:05):
that extension. And even Tom Brady was forced out. You know,
Tom Brady's dad about five years ago said when it's
all said and done, this phone no and well for
Tom and he was absolutely right about that. What is
the old saying, those who do not learn from history
are doomed to repeat it. Yes, why can't the Green

(10:27):
Bay Packers look in the mirror and say, you know what,
we screwed up. We thought this guy was on the decline.
We drafted this guy and and everybody knows, Aren'tie. I
will say in your defense, you're right. You do not
draft a quarterback if you do not think by year
two he is going to take over. And this isn't
and it was I was just talking to somebody about
this today. This isn't. When Aaron Rodgers got drafted by

(10:47):
the Packers and Brett Farr was there, and you can
wait to know you got toured in love about a
rookie contract and he's either ready to go and you
can build around him, or he's not. But my my
question for you, aren't You're asking a lot of questions.
Let me ask you, why is it so hard for
the Packers to just say, you know what we did.
We did exactly what you just said, Arnie, We did
draft Jordan Love, We really did kind of think you

(11:10):
were on the way out. We were wrong. What can
we do to make it right? Why is that so
hard for the past They all they have to do
is give him the contract extension, But they're not gonna
go ahead and do that. So obviously they don't think
they were wrong. Maybe they were wrong last year. Maybe
they don't think they're gonna be wrong this year. Look,
I think they should have given Aaron Rodgers the extension,

(11:30):
but now they're at this point, it's too little, too late.
Now you've already made the fork in the road. You've
gone the wrong way. There's no turning around and ending
back and try to go to the other side. Now
you've got that, You've made your bed, Now lay in it.
That's what I would say you drafted him. You traded
up to draft him, that's who you wanted at the time.
I don't care if you made a mistake. Now I'm

(11:53):
out of here. Can't you just didn't he made him?
I mean we everyone else in society does it right.
We come on air and we joke about it. You
picked the Cowboys to win the Super Bowl. I thought
it was denied, denied, denies No. And one weekend you
were like, you know what, I really screwed this up.
Let me get this right. And you picked whoever. I
have made a ton of terrible predictions. And I say,
you know what, I didn't think whoever? Or Okay, I'll

(12:16):
give you an example. I thought the Clippers are gonna
win it last year. Oh boy, was I wrong? So
why can I just be you know what I messed up?
I thought Kauai and Paul George were the big two
in l A and it was really a D and Lebron.
I was wrong. You picked the You picked the Cowboys
to win the Super Bowl? You were wrong. Why can't
the Packers just be like, yeah, we thought Aaron you
were on the decline. We had X, Y, and Z
reason we were wrong. What can we do to make

(12:38):
this right. Yeah, I don't think you hear that too
many times from any organizations out there. Very few say that.
By the way, we're getting a lot already on Twitter.
So if you want to join in Aaron on the
score tours, I'm in stinking genius one like Ralphie Boy
says Arnie and Dorres straight fire. Right now, please give
him the keys to the car when Ralphie Boy wants
you to drive. We're filling in this one that we

(13:00):
are wait Friday night for Jason and Mike. Maybe I'll
give you the keys to the car for like an
hour or two. But I've got to call up all
the executives and fill out forms and Triple Kid. There's
got to be a vote. There's a hundred people that
take a vote. All you need is one vote. I
don't know if you can get that. Um, there's definitely
I've got to check with all the higher ups. I'm

(13:21):
not so sure I can get this approved. Well. Listen,
when I when I took that shift, I knew I
was working with you, and I knew it was gonna
be easy because you wouldn't give me the key, So
you better shove them down my throat two minutes before
we go on air, and you're giving me the keys.
I need to know. Maybe maybe we'll share the driving.
I'll do two hours or do two ours. I don't know.

(13:42):
I got I gotta throw it by the higher ups.
I don't think they're going to approve it anywhere. Here's
the prompt. I think they'll say, why would you want
to do that? You know what? You know what the
situation is. It's like Aaron Rodgers, if Aaron Rodgers actually regressed,
and I'm Jordan's love, if Jordan's love was actually good,
like I'm we're the opposite of the packers, like I
am actually ready to take the keys of the car
and kick you to the curb and the opt the

(14:03):
packers of the opposite where the old guys should stick
around for a while. I saw you driving last time.
You had so many trash cans. I had to get
the car fixed. We'll talk about it. You want to
get in air and underscore tours um in sticking genius one,
John goes, can we please stop having the stake conversation
over and over again about Aaron Rodgers. When we get back,
I want to talk a little bit about the Lakers.
I want to talk a little bit about Albert Pool

That's how you drive. My friend, did you ask me
if I was paying it? I really wasn't paying attention, Jesus,
because that's how good I am. You should pay attention
so you don't drive us in the ditch. Remember that
clip we've all seen of Michael Jordan's standing at the

they think that you passed away? Because that was unfortunately
said too soon, too soon. I'm so you want to
get hit? Are under scot dores oven stinking genius one? Um,
we're gonna get to the Lakers. But I want to
just touch on Alvin pool Holds real quick. Um, but
so he's going to go ahead. He will get released

(16:08):
by the Adam High and Angels. I said out here
on my local show, I think the Red Sox should
take a look at him. They could use a first baseman.
And we're talking about you're really just kind of renting
him for the rest of the year. They don't have
a face of the team. Um, they certainly could use him.
They've been a surprise in baseball right now. A matter
of fact, I think they have the most wins in
Major League Baseball. I think it'd be a good fit. Besides, pool,

(16:29):
Holds does have to be in the American League. But
are you surprised it came to an end like this?
And boy, he did not live up the expectations when
he went over to Anaheim. He's a Hall of famer,
but he's a Hall of famer base when he did
it in St. Louis, did you know that the lowest
he batted in St. Louis was two ninety nine, pretty
much three hundred. Otherwise after that as Lois was like

(16:51):
three twelve. He never batted three hundred for the Angels,
never even came close to batting three hundred. It was
like night and day what he did for the Cardinals
as he compared to what he did for the Angels.
So let me ask you a question, because you're probably
even more of a baseball guy than I am. Um,
you know, statistically, he was fine, and he had some
good moments with the team. He had a forty home

(17:13):
run season. We have to call this contract to bust though,
right Oh, absolutely, zero playoff appearances, Like like, I don't
think he's bad. I don't think he was terrible, and
I don't think he's alone in the blame. But I mean,
you talk about a ten year whatever it was, two
eight million whatever it was. I mean he was an
All Star one year one year while he was with

(17:35):
the Angels. That's incredible, insane, especially with the money they
were paying him. That was the first big contract. And
it goes to show you, Um, and if I said
this a million times, especially when it comes to baseball,
I'm not given these seven, eight, nine million dollar contracts.
No disrespect to Mookie Beds or Fernando Tatis Jr. Um

(17:57):
really great players, but you really never get your money
back when you give somebody thirty five million dollars a year,
especially when it comes to baseball, it just doesn't want
you just don't get your return back. And over an
eight nine ten year contract. And yeah, I mean Albert
Pujos is forty one years old as we speak right now.

(18:18):
Uh just turned forty one in um excuse me in January.
And oh, by the way, he was thirty two when
he signed that contract. I wonder if if it was
a six year deal, and all that money. Okay, go
for it, you know whatever, But when you're talking about
into your forties, and it's really funny, aren't he, because uh,

(18:38):
this is how long ago that contract was. I was
getting ready to move to l A when he signed
that contract in the off season, heading into excuse me,
and I moved in the summer of twelve, and I
remember it being like, are the Angels the team to beat?
Are they? Are they that? But even then it was like, well,
you might get six really good years, and they didn't,

(19:01):
for to be abundantly clear, but you might get six
really good years, but those last two or three or
four years on the back end, you better watch out now.
And sure enough, here we are officially on the back end,
and there really isn't all that much to show for it.
I mean, you wasted your years where you got Albert
pool Holds for ten years and you've had the best
player not only in bait. What're you gonna say. You
can't say you wasted those years. You wasted the money,

(19:24):
but you can't say you wasted those years because Albert
Poohols is part of the problem. And so my only
I didn't want to cut you off there on. But
if if if Albert Poohols and Mike Trout were the
bash Brothers and they was gonna say, yeah, well you
have the best guy in baseball. You may have one
of the best guys in the history of baseball, uh
in Mike Trout, and you've got nothing to show for
him in pools all those years. Yes, but I don't

(19:48):
think you can say that because pooh holds wall paid
as though he was one of the best players, wasn't
actually ever one of the best players, And so again
you wasted the money, you wasted Mike Trout's prime. But
I don't know if if you can say that that,
I don't know how to say what I'm trying to say,
because coming in he was unbelievable. I mean, it was

(20:09):
insane to what the numbers and the batting average. But
you know, he's a career to nine the eight hitter,
and if he wasn't as bad as he was with Anaheim,
he'd be like a career three twenty hitter or something
like that. He's his his numbers in St. Louis. I
think the average of his batting average UM is like
about three thirty or something. It's it's insane the numbers
he put up there compared that, Ahim, it's just incredible.

(20:32):
How about this eleven straight seasons in St. Louis to
start his career with at least thirty two home runs
eleven his rookie year hit thirty seven. And so I
bring this up because since he got to Anaheim one
season in which he hit thirty two or more homewards,
So thirty two was the basement when he was in St. Louis.

(20:55):
Thirty two was basically the ceiling when he was in Anaheim.
So now, and like I said, that's why what the
Red Sox design him, because now you don't have to
pay him the money the right uh, the Angels of
pretty much gonna go and pay him everything on his contract.
Once he clears waivers, the ten years will be done.
Then you can get him for you know, pretty much
minimum wage or something, um and take a chance on him.

(21:18):
That's why I think it would be a good chance
for the Red Sox because they really don't have a uh,
you know, a solidified first base, so um being a
good pick there. Well, it's clear he still wants to play,
and so somebody is going to sign him. But it
was crazy. I mean, you're more of a baseball guy,
not to say girl chime in here in a minute.
Was this six? I mean, I know he hasn't been

(21:38):
playing well, but was this expected? It really wasn't right
because I saw the reaction when it happened, and a
lot of people seem surprised by it. I mean, if
this was really good to be his last year, and
I think it is, wouldn't we have liked to say
goodbye he? I mean again, like what he didn't sing
Louis was incredible. Um. There's people that certainly, you know,
want to go ahead and you know, show their appreciate

(22:00):
into him. I think he deserves that too. Uh, you know,
I think it would have been great. I was kind
of surprised that they went this round because I think
he wanted to play more and they weren't playing him
that much to begin with this year, you know, absolutely,
And and so I understand why the decision was made.
It just felt like the timing was a little bit surprising, Um,

(22:21):
simply because it just seemed like it caught a lot
of people off guard, even though it was probably the
right decision. You're still young. I'm just wondering, Uh, semi young.
Is there anybody that's left your favorite team? Um that
to this day, he just was an absolute crusher to you.
I got to assume Laker fans when Shack left that
probably left a bit well, you know, left traded whatever.

(22:43):
Um went to another team that that left the bad
taste in your mouth. Obviously, when Tom Brady left the Patriots,
I don't know if there's too many players when I'm
growing up, that one guy left that had me really
crushed in my youth, you know what I mean, I
really just you know, had me break down and be miserable. Well,
and it is interesting because I don't I mean St.

(23:05):
Louis fans felt that way, but they hit it really
well because I remember you and I arguing when he
hit a home run in in St. Louis and they
gave him a standing ovation. Remember that we were You
and I were an agreement on that, and our listeners
were like, you guys are crazy. Why shouldn't give him
a standing ovation? Because he's because he's the opponent, exactly
the opponents. So I remember I was going back and

(23:27):
forth on that. You want to get in Aaron on
the score tours, I've been stinking genius one. We'll come back.
We'll get to the Lakers. But first our first check
in of the night, let's see what's trending. We go
to the Sega. What's going on out there? Hello, gentleman.
And Aaron's point is good that he was already thirty
two when Pool sided with the Angels at the time

(23:47):
ten years do you not know the age that he
currently is. They didn't get one, They got like one
good year out of him. Put it this way, he's
a lifetime three hitter who has now been batting about
two forty for five straight year as it was going on. Still,
it was a surprise that early May the move was made.
But it's not just that the Angels literally have not

(24:08):
won a playoff game with Trout and pooh Hooles as teammates.
And by the way, Trout's first year's Rookie of the
Year season was Poohole's first year in Anaheim. Not one
playoff victory, not just not a series, not even one
game in the playoffs in their favor. But now they've
had Otani in recent years too, and he came in

(24:28):
one Rookie of the Year coming over from Japan, and
Trouts won the m v P at least three times.
The Angels have been under the five hundred mark five
years in a row, and now this year they're under
the five hundred mark. And right now in Anaheim, the
Dodgers lead one over the Angels. Dodgers the six Please
stop doing that. Look they crashed after I said that

(24:49):
last week? Oh my goodness, yeah, the way plus three
weeks now this offense has been crashing. In fact, the
Dodger offense this week with runners in scoring position, they
were three for thirty six. They've lost four games in
a row, and then tonight first five innings ten of
sixteen with scoring position. It's a little bit different. By
the way, you mentioned the Pool's ten year contract. He

(25:11):
didn't get to finish year number ten. That is different
than the Padres giving Fernando Tatis Jr. A fourteen year contract.
The money is still massive, but Tatis is only twenty
two years old, so that's an enormous difference. Meanwhile, the
ballgame on FS one is still going. It is Phillies
four Braves for in Atlanta, bottom of the eleventh inning

(25:33):
and the Braves have first and second with one out,
a chance to win it. This game seemed to be
over with the closer on theirs for the Phillies. In
the bottom of the ninth, Pablo Sandoval was pinch hitting
and with two outs two strikes in the bottom of
the ninth, he hit a two run homer at a
time exactly and Sandoval, the former Giants hero. He has

(25:55):
four pinch homers already this year for Atlanta. Ronald Kunia
left as he was hit by a pitch on the
hand bruised finger. X rays negative. It's now two outs,
two on bottom of the eleven. This thing may keep going.
The Phillies have a five game winning streak on the line.
What a finish at Texas. Crazy game, Rangers nine eight
over Seattle As Texas throughout a runner at home from

(26:15):
the outfield to end the game. The Rangers had scored
three runs bottom of the eight for the lead. Boston
won again eleven to six at Baltimore. Xander Bogart's three hits,
including a homer. He's batting over three fifty. The A's
and Giants each one again today, Yankees one in eleven innings.
Cubs won their fifth game in a row and in
the NBA really unusual Saturday nights usually a late gamer. Two.

(26:39):
We have four games that didn't tip off till after
ten pm Eastern time. That includes the Nets, who had
a very poor first half, down fifteen at the break
at Denver. The Nuggets lead is now just eight to
seventy four against Brooklyn as they approached mid third quarter.
A lost tonight championship exactly. This would be lost number

(27:02):
five in a row for the Nets, but not over yet.
They're down now eighty three seventy six at Denver. Meanwhile,
Golden State gets to play Oklahoma City, a truly awful
basketball team that even basketball fans cannot name anybody on
the roster. The Thunder of lost five games in a row.
Steph Curry had twenty four points in the first quarter
tonight and then three points in the second quarter. Because

(27:24):
he hasn't needed to keep playing. It's the Thunder. It's
Golden State ninety two to fifty seven in the third
quarter right now, absolutely it is. Steph Curry has played
twenty four minutes. He still has thirty eight points in
the twenty four minutes. Yeah, you could get into this game, Honestly,
you could. The Utah Jazz best in the West, or

(27:46):
up seventy two against the Rockets in the third quarter
at the Blazers after beating the Lakers last night, and
they hold the tiebreaker over the Lakers. Now Blazers are
winning again tonight third quarter against San Antonio. It's Portland's
seventy nine to sixty three. The NBA regular season ends
a week from Sunday, and finally, the NHL regular season
schedule ends in just over a week. Nashville clinched a

(28:09):
playoff birth tonight. Toronto clinched a division title. Pittsburgh one.
It's East Division. Back to you, all right, the Sega
real quick. Jason sends in when Mike Piazzo left the
Dodgers in nineteen seventy seven, I hated Rupert Murdoch for years.
Very interesting topic n Radio. Would I say seven, I'm
sorry you remember one player leaving a team that just

(28:30):
was a crusher back and I remember when Garvey left
right to the Padres. You would have thought that l
A just suck into the ocean, you know what I mean.
It was, But hey, they got Gregg Brockett first base
and won the division title the first year, but then
Garvey went to the World Series for next year. So yeah,
the idea how popular Garve resolutely Garvey not being a
Dodger to finish his career, and now these jerseys retired

(28:53):
in San Diego playoff hero in eighty four. I'm trying
if anybody else comes to mind, Yeah, because this is
I mean, there are instances like you you would mention
the Joe Namath didn't finish with the Jets, but that
was the end of the career. Franko Harris didn't finish
with it. Yeah, exactly. You know, I'm sure Colts fans
would have loved to see Peyton Manning only play for

(29:15):
the Colts, but there were different injury circumstances. This is
not this is not that. Now let me jump in
with something. So de Sega rightly pointed out how embarrassing
the Oklahoma City thunder arm. So here's my question for you.
Why isn't it basically unanimous that and I know why,

(29:38):
but Chris Paul should be the m v P of
the NBA. I'm sorry, like, no disrespect to joke it
who's having a great statistical season. They made the Western
Conference finals last year. Chris Paul leaves Oklahoma City, the
organization completely falls apart. He goes to the Sons, who
I know, we're hot at the end of the bubble.
Last year they're in second place. They were in first

(29:59):
place in the West A Conference a week ago. How
is that guy not the m v P. Well, he's
gonna get consideration, will probably be top because there's there's
a lot of other guys that are having fantastic scene.
Who's more valuable than Chris Paul Well? I can't go
by what happened last year because he left the team
and the team went belly up, So that's part of it.
We always say that with Lebron, Lebron leaves Cleveland, they

(30:20):
go in the tank. That's part of the resume with Lebron.
Why isn't it part of the resume with Chris Paul Well.
I'm just worried about what he does this year. Now,
way they could have fell on apart and he still didn't.
Never this year, he's about to take a team that
hasn't been to the playoffs in a decade to the playoffs.
There the second seed, one spot on the top scene,
and like I said, he'd be up there in probably
my top five. But I mean, what's the most important

(30:42):
statistic to you? When you look at the m v
P wins and losses value wins and losses. Value to
me is obviously a subjective term, but I just think
this this award has been hijacked in the statistics advanced
analytics era, UH by guys that put up the craziest

(31:03):
statistics like Jannice after what Janice did last So Janice
has won the last two obviously right, first year, okay,
I have no prompt but after that he goes to
the playoffs, he doesn't have success. Last year, Milwaukee is
still in first place. How valuable is he if they're
the same team they were the year before. I know,
by the way Lebron James you can criticize him, took

(31:24):
the Lakers from out of the playoffs to the number
one seed in the West. And so all I'm saying
is I just think somebody like Yo Kitch. I'm not
trying to tear down what he has done this season,
but to me, if we're talking about value, which it's
in the name of the award, how can anyone be
more valuable than Chris Paul who is who has taken
a franchise that and I'm not kidding, haven't been in

(31:46):
the playoffs in a decade, they're in the number. They're
gonna get the number two seed, maybe number one seed. Well,
I I I like to look at statistics, so a
little bit. And do you know what position Chris Paul
is in? Point to point? God? Baby, he said position.
So I didn't let you finish the same. No know
how many points the average is a game where he's Um,

(32:09):
he's not even close. Okay, let me just go ahead
and tell you that to where the other guys are.
That's cool. I didn't know that the leading score had
to be the MVP of the league. You have to
be in the top five. Why, because that's what MVP means.
You're one of the top You're one of the top scorers.
That's what it. Being the most valuable player means. No,
but if you if you want, you have to be

(32:31):
maybe top five in scoring, rebounding, and assist. Steph Curry
is number one in three pointers made, He's number one
in points per game. Um, why wouldn't you think about
giving it to somebody like that? Because how much value
does he have? If his team is fighting for the player,
where do you think they would be right now if
they didn't have stuff Curry. So so this is a good,

(32:52):
great question. So you know, let me. So you're arguing,
you're not arguing about his points per game. You're argue
about his value. That's out now. Some of his value
is inherently has to do with the amount of points
per game that he scores. But you're not arguing about
the points per game. Because what about Bradley Beal? He's
second in the league. Should he be m v P?

(33:14):
He should have consideration? Why shouldn't he have consideration? No,
you're saying that he should be either number one or
two because he's the second leading score So I said,
you could be in top five in both in three
of the categories. What about somebody like Luca who's actually
top five in points and assist and you don't have
too many of that? Why shouldn't he get, uh, be
one or two? I think he should be in consideration.

(33:37):
I'm talking about value, aren't he? And my Maybe my
opinion of value is different. But tell me who is
more valuable to their team than Chris Paul saw valuable
And I gave you five picks to start your team tomorrow. Well,
every time I brings up the best player and it's
the most valuable. We have established that it's not the
best player, because if it was the best player, Lebron

(33:58):
would have about fifteen of these ands out of four.
So we've established already it's not the best player. It's
the most valuable player. Uh, Aaron on the score Tour,
tearing on the score Tours. I'm instinking genius one. I
want the listeners to sending right now your top three picks,
rum v P. I bet you Chris Paul won't even
make the top three for for most of our listeners. Okay,

(34:20):
then there because we have smart listeners. And if they
don't know, I'm kiding. I was gonna say, if they
don't want me to block them on Twitter. But I
know it's okay to disagree. But but the the award
is and this is something and I think it's a
great debate that happens every year, and this happens with
the Heisman sometimes too. Right, is it the most outstanding,

(34:43):
most outstanding and most valuable? Is different? I think you could.
I think you could argue Steph Curry has been the
most outstanding. He's been the most fun to watch, There's
no doubt about it. Janice is having a great year.
You brought up Luca Joki obviously, but but but I
don't know, no disrespect to joke. They made the West
chir Conference finals last year. You want to get you
want to get an air and Underscore Tours. I've been

(35:04):
stinking Genius one will come back. We'll pick it up.
We'll get a little bit to the Lakers. You gotta
pay off the these all that covering up next right
here on Fox Sports Radio. Alright, good evening everyone, Aaron Torres,
Arnie Span You're going through a busy Saturday night here
on Fox Sports Radio. You want to be part of
the show, Aaron Underscore Tours. I've been sticking Genius one.
Torres kind of want to go through. We're getting a

(35:25):
lot on Twitter where Steve says MBU NBA m v
P number one, Steph Curry number two, Joel m Bead
number three, Chris Paul. So there's a third place vote
for Chris Paul out there. But we didn't talk about
Joel Embiid maybe getting it. Earlier in the year. I
thought he was the hands on favorite. Not so much now.
You know, well, if you're gonna read one that disagrees

(35:47):
with me, you gotta read the one that agrees with me,
which is Darryl says CP three is most definitely a
point guard. Torres is correct, and value is taking. Okay,
see to the playoffs, which Chris Paul did last year
when they were trying to rebuild, not even trying to win,
taking Golden taking Golden State to game seven before the
hamstring failed him, taking the same son's team, making them contenders. Darryl,

(36:12):
if you want to co host this show, I feel
like me and Daryl Vibman right now. You know I
was gonna say, I can't remember the last time we're statistics. UM,
don't play into who should be the m v P. Now,
maybe the only case I could give you is like
when the gram wins a cy Young or something perfect. No,
it is not because his e r A is something

(36:34):
ridiculously low and that's why he wins it. So slow
down there. First of all, Chris Paul is third in
the league and assists um he is in terms of steals,
he is right up there. So you know you only
value UH statistics when it's points per game, Aren'tie? It's
important to me, my friend? What about wins and losses?

(36:56):
When I when I ordered dinner. The vegetables are not
important to me. If the steak is good, I could
deal with the broccoli not being good. You understand that,
don't you. Steels are like the broccoli. Steals are like
the broccoli. Um, maybe you eat it, maybe you don't,
maybe you like it, but it's like the broccoli. What
you really want is the steak, which is the points

(37:18):
per game, the rebounds, the three point shooting. So then
we should just rename the award most fun to watch
and not most valuable. Well that it definitely would be.
It would be dug doubt about that. Let's ask a
different question. If the Sun's got the number one seat,
would that change your opinion? Because I mean I don't
take Chris Paul. Look, because I don't want to give

(37:40):
him number one. I would put him in the top five. Um,
you know that doesn't mean I don't think he's having
a great year. See, I'll just give producer bow credit.
You know, he he steps in in night Wall. What
did he have to say? Yeah, night one, he steps
in for Burst, and all of a sudden the shows
a hundred times better. But that's another conversation for another day.
But producer both said to say. He said, the only
difference betwe mean the Suns last year that did not

(38:01):
make the playoffs and the Suns this year that are
one spot out from the one seat. Is the point? God,
Chris Paul, that sounds real quick. I was listening to
uh Brian Owen Ryan Hollands they were on before us,
and Ryan Hollands like, come on now is They were
talking about the Lakers and if they'll make a run
this year, and it's like, come on, we don't want

(38:22):
Utah or Phoenix in there. Could you imagine if I
said that in the NFL, like, man, we don't want
the Saints in there, I won't watch the Super Bowl
if the Saints are in there, or come on, we
don't want green Bay there's a small market. I won't
Why could you imagine saying that that? That's how that
that that's what a bad position the NBA is is.
And don't if if they don't get like a big

(38:42):
name team in there. Don't we kind of say that
about every sport? Though? I mean, isn't it like didn't
we spend all of February like are we even gonna
watch the n c A Tournament if Duke and Kentucky
aren't in. And I mean we do it in college football, well,
I mean Cincinnati, I mean Cincinnati can't make the playoff.
We gotta put in Notre Dame, gotta put in this team.
So I think we do it with most sports. I

(39:03):
think the NFL is just the outlier that we will
watch no matter what, because we love the NFL that
much more than everything else. Well, real quick, then the Lakers, Um,
they're gonna have to probably be in the playing game.
I don't think they're gonna be able to catch Portlands
because they're a game behind and they've lost a tiebreaker
to them. Lebron says, whoever thought of the playing games

(39:24):
should be fired. I don't know if you realize that
it was around last year too. Um, kind of a
delay there, but you know, I understand why doesn't want
to play. But is this kind of the beginning of
the end of Lebron or No, not really, I had
this thought, is it the beginning of the end of
Lebron and the Lakers? Because I mean he's got a
four year contract, this is year three. I mean he's

(39:47):
quit on other people before. He quit on Dwayne Wade
in Miami. He's like, you ain't good enough anymore. I'm
gonna bounce out of here. That that's the question. That's one.
But I mean, I'm feeling like, oh, I won't be
a hundred percent this year. I'm gonna sit out and
I'm not. I'm gonna give a vague reason, and nobody
really knows why. I don't know. I don't think it's
the end of Lebron. There's only one place he can go,

(40:09):
and that would be the New York Knicks's. I mean seriously,
that the only place he could be iconic enough for
him to say I want to go there and resurrect
the New York Knicks to a championship and where he
could be loved all over again. Other than that, he's
got to stay in l A. There's no place for
him to go. And to be abundantly clear, I don't
think he's leaving the Lakers. But it's not as though

(40:30):
he has never quit on a team or a teammate
or coaches or whatever throughout his career. Our one in
the books just flew on by. You want to be
part of the show, real simple, Aaron underscore Torres, I'm
in stinking Genius one. Next hour, Christian Revus will stop
on by from MSP Nation. Got a lot more hoops
to get into. We'll get more into the Lakers, a
little bit more on Rogers. We got a lot baseball

(40:52):
they get through here. Fox Sports Radio, Oh that is us.
Good evening, everybody, every dores Arnie Spanier here on Fox
Sports Radio. You want to be part of the show.
Air and on the score. Torres, I'm instinking genius one.
We called Torres Billy Joe. We called me Canello. Well

(41:15):
the way Canello wins with a t k oh, Billy
Joel's got a pretty messed up by that's close shot,
like the way I threw that in there, kind of
like the way I do that in there, Torres or No,
I liked my analogy better of where the reverse Aaron
Rodgers and Jordan's love. I'm actually ready to go. I'm
actually ready to take this league by storm. You're on

(41:36):
your way out the door. Whereas the Packers it's the
opposite Aaron Rodgers an m v P level much like
me every Saturday out the door for crying out loud.
And I'm like Tom Brady, I got a good three
years left. I think. Yeah, I was gonna say something
about you not being married to a model, but I
don't want to bring that into this because she's beautiful

(41:56):
and it has nothing to do with all. Right, you
want to get in else simple air and other score tours,
I would stinking genius. Well, we got a lot from
last dowar. I just uh kind of want to clean
that up and says typical clueless bonehead and buffoon stinking genius.
The runaway m v P is the icon and Defensive
Player of the Year. Joe l Embiid, Um, I think

(42:17):
we both agree on that. I don't know if Embiid
would get in the top three votes right now, to
be honest with you, Torres, So, who would be in
top three? Then? Um boy, my top three would have
Steph Curry. You know, by the way, I love Russell Westbrook,
But I don't think you'd make my top three. I
just want you to know that. But my top three
would be Steph Curry, Luca and yr Kich. That would

(42:41):
probably be my top three. By the way, Joel Embiad
has missed like a quarter of the We can't just
be just handing out this award to just whoever. Um
here is what was the one that I saw that
I liked? Uh, this one Mike and Jacksonville. I agree
that Most Valuable Player awards should go to the most

(43:02):
valuable player, the one who makes the most difference on
the team. But that has never been the case. And
he's right. I just I just think we need to
rename the award to most outstanding because and it's kind
of again what happens in college football with the Heisman too.
It's always the quarterback that puts up great stats on
a good team. Well, I'm not debating that that guy
has value, but I mean, is the Alabama quarterback really

(43:26):
the most valuable guy every single year? You know, like
like like to me, if we're gonna just be if
it's just gonna be a statistical award, then let's just
call it a statistic award. Let's stop calling it most valuable.
For the record, I felt the same way last year.
I thought Lebron should have wont it over Janice last year,
and so I feel that way. I believe Chris Paul
should win it over all of Arnie's fake contains, David

(43:46):
says a steak of genius steels are like broccoli I'm
stealing that and putting it on a T shirt. Yeah,
that you gotta get be part of the proceeds on
that one. I thought that was a really good analogy.
Um yeah, steals are like broccoli. I mean, once in
a while you have to eat the broccoli business a necessity.
But you could go nine out of ten times without
touching that thing. You know. You know what's what's broccoli

(44:08):
is points per game for an individual player. It's a
nice stat. But if if it was all about points
per game, Carmelo Anthony would have about eight m vps
right now? How many vs he have? Wow? Nature boy
just said CP three is you have to make it
to the finals. Don't think it'll be any different this year.
Fool's goal neither has nis and he's won two MVPs.

(44:28):
That is true. Thank you, Nature boys. Sit down, buddy, Sorry,
I'm on fired today. I look at you on the back.
I was out in the sun. I got a little
fresh air. Oh my goodness, that fresh air. That pollen man,
it must be My brain is firing on all cylinders.
So let's finished, Nature boys. As Lebron is aging in
dog years after the high ankle strain. Bottom line he's

(44:49):
just more interested in space jams and uh and stuff
like that. So, UM, I'm wondering, Look, Lebron is never
gonna be on that level that we know him to be.
He's certainly winding down his career. How many more good
years does he have left? Three years? Four years? And
that's pretty much it, you know, So two things. One,
I'm not ready to give up on Lebron and it's

(45:11):
easy to say how many good years does he have left?
But we said the same thing about Tom Brady like
eight years ago. Big difference. Here's my question though, real quick,
and we get back to difference. What did you make
of him? Like, Yeah, I'm not gonna be a hundred
percent of again. Like that was a weird comment, wasn't it. Well,
even if it's true, why did he say that? Is
he already using it as an excuse for the rest

(45:31):
of this year when they probably get eliminated in the
first round. They'll get through the playoff game. But I
gotta tell you, and I know they've had injuries. I'm
pretty disappointed though where they are right now. The NBA desperately, desperately,
um wants to make sure that they advance and get
through this playing game would not be funny if the
Lakers finished seventh in the NBA said, we're just getting around.

(45:54):
There's no playing game this year. We're just we're taking
the top eight. That's it. We were our mistake are bad?
Sorry about that? So serious question. We all kind of
agree something's not right with the lake or something that
something is not right with the nets. Who do you
believe is the actual favor right now? Because just real quick,
for people who don't follow the NBA day to day,

(46:15):
Philly and Milwaukee are number one two in the East.
Obviously neither of those teams with its current core has
made the finals. Brooklyn is in third place, Arnies New
York Knicks are in fourth place. And then in the West,
Utah one Phoenix to l A Clippers in Denver, and
so obviously Denver made the Western Conference finals last year,
but the Clippers underachieved. And I, you know, Utah and

(46:35):
Phoenix do we really trust him? So I'm just curious
what your thoughts are. Utah is the number one right
now in my opinion, though the I mean, you know,
I probably shouldn't say that I think they're the best
team in the NBA, but that doesn't mean they have
the best chance to go to the finals because they
play in a harder conference. So, um, are you asking
me who's the best team? Who has the best chance
to go to the finals? Because even though Brooklyn's falling

(46:56):
apart and then at one point game now they've lost
four in a row, they still have a better chance
to get to the finals than a lot of teams
in the West. Books. It's so brutal out there, you know. Yeah,
what I was asking not who the best team is?
Who do you think in the end? You always talk
about Bernie flying out to Vegas and putting you up
at you know, Flamingo or wherever you want to stay.
Where you're in Vegas, Bernie handzia a wat of cash.

(47:18):
Who are you going to the money and putting it
on the window, putting besides my New York Knicks besides them? Right?
So put them on the next If that so you think, no,
I mean, come on, that'd befuss you get down the toilet.
So but I am, I am, you know, encouraged by
what they did this year. If I was gonna put
the whole thing on on one team would probably be Utah.
But you don't get much money value in that um,

(47:40):
if I was gonna go in a different direction, try
to get a little bit of value, maybe the Clippers,
but it certainly wouldn't be the Lakers. I'm done with them.
They're they're done. So it's it's over r for the Lakers.
They're not gonna do anything this year. Yeah. What I
would also say too, and I will say because we
have been critical of a lot of elements in the
NBA in previous years, and one of the my biggest

(48:03):
complaints was there was about a three or four year
period where you knew there was only two, maybe three
teams that can win it all. It ain't that way
this year. And so I think it's the conglomerate of injuries,
of the Lakers playing so late into last year, of
other teams stepping up, Milwaukee trading for Drew Holiday, Doc
Rivers coming over to the Sixers, whatever the variables are.

(48:25):
It just feels like there are way more teams that
could actually win this thing this year than ever before.
What happened to the super teams the Dodgers. Bill Plowski
from the La Times wrote that the Dodger team was
gonna be the best team in the history of baseball.
They came into the into the game today, there was
seventeen and sixteen. Brooklyn had lost four to row. I
mean there's still forty three and twenty four, but they

(48:45):
lost four in a row coming in. They've only played
with how many games with the Big Three, So nobody
really knows how they're gonna react. The Yankees are picking
it up, but they were, um, what seventeen and sixteen
right now? Nothing to write home about. There was supposed
to be phenomenal. My Mets were supposed to be fantastic.
They can't hit their way out of a wood paperbag sometimes,
so you know, these super teams have not really turned out.

(49:08):
The Padres what about that? Remember Padres Dodgers, Padres Dodgers.
They phone on a little bit of hard time, these
super teams. Sometimes it's just not working out right now.
You know what's really interesting. First of all, I'll give
myself a little pet on the back because they were
go ahead, go ahead now everyone like three weeks ago,
it's like Dodgers Padres, great rivalry, and I'm like the

(49:28):
Padres at the time, we're in third place in the
NL West. I was like, can they at least get
into second place. Like usually rivals are the top two
teams in some way, shape or form. But it is interesting.
And by the way, this is why we love sports,
right because sometimes you put a super team together, like
the Tampa Bay Bucks this year. They brought all those
personalities and we were talking about that in October November.
Can anton Antonio Brown mixed with Mike that's not a

(49:51):
super team. I mean, come on, Tom Brady, Antonio Brown,
Mike Evans, Gronk, Leonard four Net. That's as close as
there is to a super team in the NFL in
a long time. I know you brought in Gronk, he
was already retired. Um, it wasn't like he was still
the Gronk that was a Hall of Famer out there.
For Nett, it wasn't like he was the big time
running back. Yes he helped a little bit, but I

(50:12):
mean only a small amount. And Tonio Brown was I mean,
out of a scale from one to ten would tend
being the best, he was probably like about a five.
Um in making a difference of them winning the Super
Bowl was wasn't those guys that really made the difference.
It was all about Tom Brady and and that defense.
It was all that defense once the last five six
games came around in the playoffs, for sure, and they

(50:33):
felt like a super team to me with all those personalities,
because what is the super team? It's by definition, I mean,
it's obviously a lot of really talented pieces. But to me,
I do think there's a stylistic, personality driven element to
this as well. Remember when Vince everyone, Vince Young called
the Eagles the dream team, and it was because, like
it was a lot of talented players, but it was

(50:54):
a lot of personalities as well. But to answer your question,
this is why we love sports because you look at
something on paper and it should be a done deal
and then you gotta get on the court or the
field or the ice or the rink or whatever, and
you got to actually prove it. And so right now,
you're right, the Lakers don't look very good. Now can
they get right in the playoffs with enough rest and
enough time between rounds assuming they get out of the

(51:16):
play in sure, could the Nets figure out a way
to play defense? Maybe? But this is why we play
the games. You know would be great? Is um? First
of all, Brooklyn was supposed to be the super team
that was only gonna have like ten losses this year.
If they were like that, they would be like public
enemy number one. Oh, it would be like, who do
they play? Let's beat them, Let's beat them now. People

(51:38):
really just don't care until the playoffs start. They're like Brooklyn,
they're not playing very well. A matter of fact, Milwaukee
closed in on four enough games and in them over
the last one four for five games. It's ridiculous, Brooklyn,
the number two seat all wrapped up right now. They
may play the New York Knicks in the first round.
How great would that be? Unbelievable. Nets may have to
play Miami in the first round. That's not a very

(51:59):
easy match for them too, absolutely not. And I mean
it's just even the bigger principle of two things. They're
not playing well right now, although they have made a
come back against Denver to night, but they lost fourth
straight coming into tonight. But even beyond that, even if
they start to figure it out with this collective group
of players, they still got out a guy by the
name of James Harden back in that hasn't basically played

(52:20):
with this with this collective collection of guys. So the
Nets are fascinating. Listen I'll say this. I don't know
if it will work. I don't know if it won't,
but I do think they're the most interesting story in
the league. I mean the Lakers to degree, because they're
not playing really well right now, But the Nets, to me,
are the most fascinating kind of conversation point in the
league right now. Gregg says steak of genius. Torn on

(52:42):
whether super teams work out or not. When the Lakers
had Shack, Kobe, Karl Malone, Gary Peyton, they looked unbeatable
until the finals. Many super teams implode long before that juncture. Um,
I'm not so sure about that. I we'll see what
the Nets do this year. But I think a lot
of them have load before they get there. You know. No, Yeah,

(53:03):
I'm not most don't implode before they get there. They
might not last for very long, or they might get
there and not win. But I mean, as a generality
super teams, yeah, I would say most of them at
least get to the finals and stuff. Right by the way,
Sean sent us in Arnie, I'm looking forward to your introduction.
I'll fly out to New York for your big day.
He sent something from the Radio Hall of Fame. So, um,

(53:26):
I'm sure just a matter of time before I get
in there, you know, Yeah, I mean, I see, I
don't know what goes on in your career because Brian
No wrote like an eight thousand word feature on you
and you didn't even mention my name. So I mean,
you could be inducted into the Hall of Fame and
I won't be part of the speech. So I'm still
waiting to get into the Southern California Jewish Hall of Fame.
I've I've not got into that yet, and I think
I'm the wa a Jewish guy in Southern California that's

(53:48):
in the media. So I'm so waiting for that one tour.
As you know, I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Some day
if I hear of anything, I can't really respond. I
don't know how to respond. Coming up next, Christian Revas

How are you doing good? Thanks for stopping by. If hey,
if you were going to give you your top three
right now we're arguing about this. Is Chris Paul in
your top three for m v P? Is your m
v P? Or do you keep about altogether? Oh? That

(55:17):
I mean in terms of this impact alone, I think
he belongs in the conversation. But like Nicola Yokich is
probably the favorite, followed by Joel Embiid and then uh god,
I guess yeah. I think she'd be in my top three.
Actually I hadn't. I hadn't thought about it about either. Well,
let me ask you a question, Christian. You said in

(55:38):
terms of impact here, I mean, it's called the most
valuable player. It's not called you know, looks coolest in
the uniform or looks puts up the best stats. It's
the most valuable. Name me a player that's more Valuableteph Curry,
Steph Curry is not more valuable. Let me finish the
sentence to our lovely guest here. So my only argument,
and I've been yelling at this old man here for

(55:59):
the last hour, is I get joke. Yokich has incredible stats,
but then not gets made the Western Conference finals last year.
Haven't made the playoffs in a decade. This guy is
the only difference between last year this year. I just
don't understand how he's not MVP. Yeah, I mean, and
it's a it's a good argument, and um, you know,

(56:20):
especially with Nikolaoket right now, I think the one thing
he has going for him is uh Jamal Murray being
out for the remainder of the season and them being
able to stay as as a top three season the
Western Conference I think it's a testament to how good
he is. Um and similar to like Chris Paul and
Lebron James. I don't know if that system Mike Malone's
trying to run works without a player like nikolaokich Um

(56:43):
it's funny. I think a player like Nikolaiokis. I don't
know if we've ever seen a player like him, like
a like a point center like him. But no, I
get that. But in terms of you know, impactful players,
if that was the award every year, I don't know
if you could give it to anybody but Lebron Jane Ship.
Let's get over to your Lakers. Then, did you bring
up Lebron James? I think they're pretty much tested for

(57:05):
that play in game. They're a game and a half
bind Portland, they lose the tiebreaker. Um, it looks like
the Pavio end up play in San Antonio and that
win one or lose two or whatever the hell you
want to call it. Uh, what do you think it is? It?
Just when that then losing the first round to the
Sun's or you tell me how this is gonna play
out for them? I mean it's hard to rule out

(57:28):
the Lakers entirely. Uh, if Lebron James and Anthony Davis
are both healthy. Uh, but I mean it's sounding like
a big if there's five games left in the season
Lebron still not back and you know he came back
for a little bit and and has to go back
on the injury report because he wasn't feeling quite right yet.
We really haven't seen that from Lebron at any stage

(57:48):
of his career. So uh, I think Lebron is a
bigger question mark than Anthony Davis right now. Uh. Eight.
He actually put up a really good Southland against Portland,
and I would bet on him being percent and looking
like he did in the postseason last year. I'd bet
on Lebron James doing the same. But right now, it's
more faith than than anything that's in front of us.

(58:10):
And and uh, you know anything tangible. I know it's
from about five New cycles ago, Christian, but what did
you make of the Lebron James I'll never be one again?
It felt weird to me. Yeah, and it was definitely
unsettling amongst people that have covered the team to to
hear a player like him. So somebody that who you

(58:33):
know every time he rolls his ankle. All it takes is,
you know, a light jog and he's back to normal
for him to say, you know, he'll never be a
hundred percent again that you know, that could be him
just saying at this stage of his career with uh,
you know, at his age, that he'll never be fully healthy,
a hundred percent healthy, but still healthy enough to you know,

(58:56):
compete at a high level. I'd be interested in knowing
if Lebron him thought he was a hundred percent last
season after the hiatus that came back from because if
the answer is no, then you know, you look at
the numbers he put up in the postseason last seas
and you say, okay, well, if that's not Lebron James,
if that's him at that's a that's a player he
can build around and are comfortable given an accession to you.

(59:18):
Obviously the Lakers did the ladder, but um yeah, I
don't know. Again, it all depends on how he looks
when he comes back. I'd like to think he's gonna
look as good as he did last season, but it's
it's not a lot of time. Only five regular season
games left. Christian. What happens if the finals are Milwaukee
and Utah. Do we just put it back on tape

(59:39):
delay and then it was like it wasn't the eighties
because nobody's gonna care or what you tell being Uh, well,
I think the main intrigue there is Jonason and Sakumpo.
It's always nice to see young stars like him a
two time m v P. Now. I know it's crazy
to think with how young he is, but um yeah,
I in honest still has some intrigue. But Milwaukee and

(01:00:03):
Youthah series. I'm trying to think of the last time
two small market teams went up against each other like that.
I guess it would have to be Cleveland and San Antonio.
So let me ask you a question here, Christian Um
in terms of of just looking at the big thirty
thousand foot view weather. Okay, so the Lakers are clearly
struggling right now. The Nets are not playing very well,

(01:00:26):
although they are beating Denver as we speak. Who do
you believe is the actual favorite? You're in Vegas today,
somebody gives you a hundred bucks, says here go put
it on. Whoever you think is actually gonna win it all?
Forget the odds. Who do you just think is going
to emerge late June early July, whenever the playoffs end
up getting, you know, finalized, Who do you believe is
the actual team that's gonna win it all based on

(01:00:47):
what we know right now? Based on what we know
right now, I think you'd be hard pressed to argue
against the Jazz. Uh But making the case for the
Jazz is really just looking at their body of work
from this season and when you're making off productions, like
that's what you should be doing. But also, this is
a Jazz team that after their their playoff series last year,

(01:01:09):
people were asking questions about, you know, whether or not
Rudy Gobert was was a two times Defensive Player of
the Year, was somebody you can play in the postseason. So, um,
they certainly look different this year that they're moving the ball,
wall making making three point shots at a high level.
But uh yeah, and there there are questions beyond that.

(01:01:29):
But just going best off at this season, I think
you look at Utah and you look at Philadelphia as
the two teams that with the way they look right now,
they're gonna be a tough out, even even for teams
as stars set it. As you know, the Lakers nets
and Clippers. Christoph By the way, do you like to
play in games? I mean, right now, we're really doing
it just for what Washington, Indiana, Memphis and San Antonio.

(01:01:53):
Um is this is this something that's going to stick around?
Do you like it or I don't think the players
like it though? Yeah, that's I mean, I think players
like it a lot more when they're at the top
of their conference. I think the idea of a competition
that makes regular season games feel a little more meaningful
than they feel right now. Uh, it is always a

(01:02:14):
good idea. And if you look at it as just
an extension of the postseason and and not so much.
Uh you know this added thing that that players have
to do. I mean, you think about it. The seventh
seed only has to win one game. If you're a
seventh season and you can't beat that, if you can't
beat lower seeds in in two games, you probably weren't

(01:02:35):
gonna do much in the postseason anyway. Kind of like three.
It's kind of like three to make two and free
throws back in the day, you know, right, Yeah, And
so that's my thinking with it. I don't mind it
so much, But I think the real solution to all
of the NBA's regular season problems, if you will, the
whole competitive factor is taking away conferences entirely. But I

(01:02:57):
guess it's neither here nor there last one for me
christian Um just the Knicks in general. I mean, it's
been such a fun story. How much have you enjoyed
covering these guys? Watching these guys? Is there a better
story in the league right now? Because I'm enjoying watching
them whenever I can see him on TV? Oh? Absolutely not,
Because I mean going into the season, you had people

(01:03:18):
talking about the Knicks being one of the worst teams
in the league because nobody bought Julius Randall having the
All Star season that he's having this year. R Jay
Barrett had had a pretty rough season last year, and
for them for Tom Thibodeau to come in and turn
that not not just a team, but that organization around

(01:03:38):
the way that he has h has been something to watch.
And I yeah, I don't know if there has been
a better story in the NBA this year other than maybe,
you know, LaMelo Ball coming in as a rookie and
and carrying the Hornets the way he has. Yeah. I
remember when the nixt higher Tipota I'm like, come on, man,

(01:03:58):
that's the best we got out there. Come on, I
was aggravated about the whole thing. By the way, he's
Christian Revers. You want to go and check about you
want to get hold of them on Twitter rad reevs
r A d r A v r r A d
r I v A s Rightes for sp Nation. Christian
always a pleasure. We're gonna have to do it again,
my friend. Yeah, thank you. Guys. All right, take care

(01:04:19):
of Christian Revis everybody. We're gonna come back. We'll discuss
some of the what do you have to say? Plus
that playing game. We'll talk about the last five six
games in the NBA. But first another check in with
the saga, what's going on with my Dodgers tonight? What's
up going on? As long as you keep saying that
my Dodgers, you will be the curse on this team.

(01:04:39):
No way they can give up that many runs and
lose after what were they up? Have you seen the
Dodger bullpen this year? I know it's not that bad.
The Dodgers currently have eight pictures on the injured list,
just pictures eight on the injured list. Well, the Dodgers
were up thirteen nothing in Anaheim in the fifth. It's
now Dodgers fourteen eleven over the Jels in the top

(01:05:00):
of the eighth. Just for the record, the great researcher
Sarah Lang says, in MLB history, the largest comeback win
is being down by twelve. Angels were down thirteen nothing
midway through this game. They have yet to tie it.
But I'm just saying, apparently a decade ago the Indians
were down twelve and still beat Seattle in a game,
and then like a hundred years ago it happened a

(01:05:21):
couple of times too. But my goodness, and that's no
way that's gonna happen tonight. No way. Well, they've already
scored eleven off the bullpen. I mean Clayton Kershaw started
and on short rest and an enormous lead, they said, okay,
five scoreless innings, five strikeouts, that's fine, you're done, and
then eleven runs off the bullpen. I was just thinking
about this. What were the Angels on the in game

(01:05:43):
betting when they were down nothing like one or something
like that. They have not tied the game, but it
is a game. I remember at one point the Angels
were down thirteen nothing, and one of the Angels batters
bunted and it really ticked off Dave Roberts and the
Dodger dugout and Clayton Kershaw was almost laughing on the mound.

(01:06:05):
He pointed at the scoreboard, like what are you doing?
And now the Angels have scored eleven times the scooard. Now, yeah,
I would like to know what the manager think. If
I were that guy that bunted, I would seek out
the opposing manager during batting practice the next day and say, Okay,
you got something to say to me? Everything's final. In
the NBA down, Steph Curry had forty nine points in

(01:06:26):
twenty nine minutes at Golden State, they whipped Oklahoma City one,
thirty six to nine. Seven six straight losses for Okay
c Brooklyn was down fifteen at the half and still
one at Denver tonight on one nineteen. Kevin Durant thirty
three points, Kyrie Irving with thirty one. Philadelphia is the
first place team in the East, still three games over

(01:06:47):
the Nets, who end a four game losing streak. Philly
is three and a half over Milwaukee now because Philly
won again. That's eight straight victories for the six Ers.
One eighteen one oh four over Detroit Memphis in Portland,
with wins Utah and Washington as well. The Wizards won
in overtime by a pointed Indiana Russell Westbrook a triple
double one one hundred eighty one triple doubles in his

(01:07:09):
NBA career that ties Oscar Robertson's record. Bradley Beale had
fifty points but left late with a hamstring strain. In
the NHL, Edmonton star Connor McDavid with his one hundreds
point of the season, and it's a shortened season. In
fifty three games he has a hundred points. Edmonton has
just beaten Vancouver for three although for Vancouver this season

(01:07:30):
is going to go on a while they have so
many makeup games, so the regular season schedule doesn't end
till over a week from now. Nashville one clinching a playoff,
berth Pittsburgh one clinching the East Division, and Toronto one
tonight clinching the North Division. As for some of the
other baseball, there was the FS one game tonight which
ended after midnight Eastern time in Atlanta. Braves give up

(01:07:52):
three in the top of the twelfth and then score
four in the bottom of the twelve to beat the
Phillies anyway, eight to seven. The Phillies had one five
in a row, Boston one again, Giants and A's each
one again. And then there's the late game Dodgers fourteen
eleven over the Angels, two outs, two on for the
l A team in the top of the eighth. By

(01:08:13):
the way, if anybody tries to tell you that the
Angels are an l A team, just realized that the
Dodgers have to leave the county to go play Angels.
They can call themselves l A all they want. It's
good marketing. Feel free to go ahead. They just it's they.
They are nowhere near Los Angeles. When you lived in
l A, aren'tie and you had to go to a

(01:08:34):
game in Anaheim, it would take you an hour to
get there. Right, Oh that's another state state? All right?
Thanks a lot. The sager, Aaron Torres, Arnie Spaniard, you
want to be part of the show Air and Underscore Tours.
I'm stinking genius one. They were up thirteen nothing, Torres, nothing.
Nobody's ever come back from a deficit that much. Can

(01:08:56):
you believe if the Dodger bullpen squanders this lead, and
they already took out their best players like Mookie Bets
and and guys like that. That will teach you to
take out your best players when you're up thirteen to nothing.
You know, absolutely, this is kind of wild. Yeah, we
have it on in studio here. Scores fourteen eleven in
the eighth could get interesting. Remember any of any major

(01:09:17):
comebacks from your favorite team. I remember the Dolphins, Um,
we're playing the San Diego Chargers that one year. I
think they were down was three or something. That was
on the Tony Nathan uh pitch and catch year. Uh.
They end up losing in overtime, but that was a
big come from mind to do something like that. Well,
it's funny. I remember the Cleveland Indians come back against

(01:09:38):
Seattle where it was the one that Disaga referenced. Um.
It was a Sunday night baseball game. And I used
to be really into baseball. So I'm not gonna say
here in Lion say oh I watched every second of it, um,
But I vividly remember, you know, it was a Sunday night,
probably turning it off thinking, oh, this game is over.
It's whatever, twelve to one or whatever the score was. Is.

(01:10:00):
And I woke up the next day and they said
that was the biggest comeback in the history baseball or
whatever it was. I don't know if it's the biggest
or whatever, but I vividly remember that game. Oh. One
of the ones that hurts the most to me in
come from behind is Reggie Miller. What he did to
my New York Knicks when he made eight points in like,
uh was it eight seconds or something like that? Hit

(01:10:20):
the three, Steele hit the three, Steele hit two, hit
the three again. I mean, but what do you do it?
Stop stop in bounty the ball. He's dealing it every time,
stopping bounty the ball. By the way, how about this,
Jamie just brought up this point. I referenced that Seattle
lost to Cleveland in two thousand one. That was the
year that the Seattle Mariners set the single season regular season. Yeah,

(01:10:45):
it would have been one seventeen if they hadn't blown
a massive lead. So just a little fun fact, but
a good fact on that. Wow. So yeah, we'll see
if the Dodgers can hold onto this lead. They're up
fourteen eleven right now, they got runners on first and second.
They're in the eighth inning, I actually they're gonna have
base is loaded now with two outs up fourteen eleven.
Do you guys have the game on TV out there
or you guys are not getting to the game in

(01:11:06):
Los Angele. Keep in mind that we also get the
Angels games locally as well, so so that's why you
guys have and I think we're watching the Angels broadcast.
I get the Dodgers games at my house. I think
I get more Dodger games in Vermont, and then you
guys get in l A. I'm I'm pretty sure about that.
You've watched more cow football games and probably anyone in
America the last five years, that's for sure. By the way,

(01:11:29):
the playing games in the NBA, you for them, you
don't like them, you like abroad. And the guy who
came up with that idea should be fired. Like I said,
who are we really doing it for teams nine and ten,
which is Washington, Indiana, Memphis, San Antonio. Um, I don't know.
It doesn't create some excitement where teams seven and eight
only have to win one while the other ones win two.

(01:11:51):
Good idea or bad ideas? I think we should get
rid of one. Correction, you said the playing games no, Arnie,
they're the state farm playing games. My bad, And I
bring it up for a very he said, who is
it for. It's to pay the bills, aren'ty span here?
Every everybody was short on a tendance this year and
all that stuff. So I actually so I understand why

(01:12:12):
they're doing it for right now. It is a one
year deal. I think it'll be extended in some form
or fashion. But I bring it up because I do
like it. I actually enjoyed. If you remember last year
we had these in the bubble and we got Memphis
in Portland's in an eight nine game and it came
down to the wire and it felt like the n
c A Tournament, only with better players. And so I know,
it's a little bit of a weird thing, like you said,

(01:12:33):
where if this team wins, they advance. If that team wins,
they gotta play again. But I actually like it a lot.
I enjoyed it. Excuse me. I enjoyed it last year
when it was Grizzlies Blazers, and I'm excited to see
who it's going to be this year. Yeah. Again, if
we didn't have it, though, Aaron All, we'd be missing
out or the you know, Memphis and San Antonio and
teams like that. But like you said, it does give
you a little bit of intrigue, a little bit of

(01:12:56):
excitement to kind of, you know, kick off the playoffs
and maybe get peep we interested again instead of just like, well,
let's just wait to the finals and see if the
Lakers are gonna be in it or something like that.
You know. Two additional thoughts on why I do like it. One,
I do think it just keeps more teams involved in
the regular season. Now, doesn't stop say, you know, James
Harden from taking his time coming back, Lebron whatever. These

(01:13:17):
are superstars. They just want to get into the playoffs.
They don't care what their seat is. But too, it
also gives a benefit to the teams that play well
during the regular season in terms of the top six
seeds that get a few extra days off to end
the regular season. So for those reasons, I like it. Now,
when it's four teams instead of to like last year,
maybe I'll feel differently. I am open to the idea

(01:13:37):
that once the games are played, I'm not gonna love it,
But for right now, I think it's a pretty cool concept.
I really do. I'll tell you what I am intrigued
about if the Lakers in Golden State do get as
the playing games Golden State and Utah, And I know
it's not the same Golden State team, but I just
feel you just feel like maybe Golden State can make
some of the ways there and the Lakers against the Suns.

(01:13:59):
If the Lakers get healthy, who knows what they could
do in that first series, though I'm not expecting a
whole heck of a lot um. To be honest with you,
I don't even think they'll get by the Sun's. So
that would make Chris Paul a very important key to
you want to get him that m come on the
PR campaign or whatever now. But yeah, I will say

(01:14:20):
I do think that. Um. All of this is fascinating,
and I am very curious about the Lakers because the
one thing just in general with Lebron as he has
always been, I just want to get into the playoffs.
I don't care what our seat is. I'll figure it
out once we get there. It'll be interesting to add
the layer of a potential playing game for that team
in that organization, less than to open things off. I've

(01:14:41):
tried to see you would be the best fit in
the Eastern Conference. But I mean, right now with none
of those teams are sorry, Wizards and Pacers, I really
don't care. I mean the seventies six one eight in
a row, so I mean, obviously the intrigue is there,
but everybody wants to see Brooklyn in the finals. I mean,
would you, I mean to cut you off? You the
Hornets out of all those two so seven, eight, nine

(01:15:03):
ten is Celtics, Hornets, Wizards, Pacers. First of all, I
don't think the Celtics gonna be an easy out, even
though they have been very good this year. But we
we would have to agree, as Christian said, the Hornets
with LaMelo Ball he's now back. He is a fun
player to watch, man. I mean, that's the team that
we're all kind of excited about out of that group, right,
I do like watching them if you want to get

(01:15:24):
in real simple Aaron on the score, Torres, I'm it's
thinking genius one. When we get back to Saga has
more on the big night for Russell Westbrook that's coming
up next right here on Fox Sports or Radio. All right, everybody,
good evening, Aaron Torres, aren't he span your on a
busy Saturday night? Here on Fox Sports Radio. Let's finish

(01:15:45):
out the hours. We check in with the Saga. Another
big night for Russell Westbrook, My friend, what's going on?
Tying a little NBA history? Oscar Robertson had a hundred
eighty one career triple doubles. Russell Westbrook now has one
eighty one. He had the ball in his hands, tie game,
end of regulation, took the final shot against Indiana tonight

(01:16:06):
and missed it, so it went to overtime. Late in overtime,
he had the ball in his hands, took the final
shot and missed it, but the defense was called for
a foul and obviously Indiana argued vociferously on that one. No,
it was not changed. Westbrook hit two free throws with
one second left, and then after a time out, Westbrook
blocked the final shot by the Pacers, so Washington won

(01:16:28):
the game in overtime one thirty three, one thirty two.
Westbrook finished with thirty three points, nineteen rebounds, fifteen assists.
Since the All Star Break, Russell Westbrook has twenty five
triple doubles, twenty five in the thirty four games his
team has and triple doubles in history, No in just

(01:16:51):
this year. Oh well, even in history, nobody else is
close to those two. Magic wasn't even to one forty.
I think Oscar Robertson Russell Westbrook over here's my question.
He used a big s a T word their vociferous Barney.
Do you even know what that means? Yeah, using the
sentence and give me the a lot. By the way,

(01:17:12):
going into this night, it was Westbrook four triple doubles
since the All Star Break, and the rest of the
league thirty eight combined. Now in this game to Montes Sibonis, Well,
Bradley Deal you want points. Bradley Beal had fifty points
in this game and nobody's can remember it. He did
leave late with a hamstring strain. Is that your m

(01:17:33):
v P. Bradley Beal? He scored fifty to night Arty.
That's a lot of bad. It's not bad. Didn't win,
but not bad. Comeback win for the Brooklyn Nets. In
one of the late games, they were down fifteen at Denver.
They they give up seventy one points in the first half,
it was six and the Nets still win the game
to end a four game losing streak. On one nineteen,

(01:17:54):
the Nets shot sixty from the floor. They now, by
the way, have the same record as Denver four four
and twenty four and the regular season ends a week
from Sunday. But over in the East, the Nets are
still three back of first place Philadelphia, which did not
have Ben Simmons tonight due to a bad back, but
Joel and beat at twenty nine points in just twenty
three minutes. Philly won it's eighth straight game, beating Detroit

(01:18:16):
one eighteen to one oh four. In the East, Milwaukee's
won five in a row, but there's three and a
half back third place team in the East, Dwight Howard
a Philly by the way, nineteen points, fourteen rebounds. We
can update the Dodger game. They got a real reliever
in there in the bottom of the eighth, Victor Gonzales,
and it was quick. So the Dodgers still lead fourteen
eleven over the Angels. It's top of the ninth. Now,

(01:18:38):
Dodgers did lead bases loaded in the eighth, just for
the record, and it's not only the Dodgers that took
out starters. And what was a blowout game. Yes, Mookie
Bets and Corey Seeger out, Mike Trouts out on the
Angels side, he would have been batting in the bottom
of the eighth inning, but no, he's not in the
game anymore. As far as the Dodger Channel, by the way,

(01:18:59):
it was the first set even years after the Dodgers
created this channel, that most of Los Angeles didn't have it.
In fact, for a lot of games, I saw local
ratings and there were more people inside Dodger Stadium than
there were actually watching the game on the channel in
all of Los Angeles County. That was the case for years.
But finally, right before last season, they announced, we have

(01:19:22):
an agreement with A T and T and their properties,
and so most people are going to get the Dodgers
channel in l A now, And then we had the pandemic.
Negotiations in baseball did start for another three and a
half months, but finally l A had the channel in
of all years, the season where the Dodgers finally win
the World Series. They've been waiting over thirty years for that.
But the Dodgers have a twenty five year agreement with

(01:19:44):
this sports net l A channel of theirs, and that
essentially pays for their payroll right there before they even sell.
It's an enormous deal. It's eight billion dollars total years.
So finally they're gonna start making some cat in, you know,
getting the eyeballs on the channel starting last year, just
in time for the best team in the history of

(01:20:05):
baseball too. So yeah, you know, at the end of
that column that plash Ky wrote in The l A Times,
it was right after Tommy Losorta had passed in the
off season. He kind of mentioned Tommy, and Tommy was
always pro Dodger and over the top, and I got
the feeling that the column was so over the top
just kind of as a tribute to Tommy, not that
he didn't think it was a great team or could

(01:20:27):
get back to the World Series or anything like that,
but as far as going crazy, I think that that
might have been part of it. By the way, since
the Dodgers have had this channel of their own, uh,
they've won the NLS literally every year. This is eight
years in a row. They're not hopefully going to be
blowing this game tonight for we have that on taple. Wow.

(01:20:54):
Angel Again, the largest comeback in Major League history was
a team was down twelve and still one. I found
the box score. It was the Mariners team that at
the time in two thousand one. They were eighty and
thirty and they were up twelve to two in the
seventh inning and lost fifteen fourteen. I think the final

(01:21:14):
was Oh no, it's twelve. Nothing earlier they lost fifteen
fourteen in eleven innings. Alright, thanks a lot. The Sager
two Hours are in the books. The Power Hours coming
up next, Uh, Aaron Underscore Tours. I've been stinking genius
one here at Fox Sports or Radio. Ah, good evening everyone,

(01:21:35):
Aaron Torres, Arnie Span your right here on Fox Sports Radio.
It is the Power Hour of this show coming up
in about twenty minutes. Bertie Frattos straight out of Vegas.
We'll see what Bertie's got to say and what's going
on in Vegas out there, by the way, enjoy spa
like comfortence. Save big on your water bill with a

(01:21:57):
Navy On tankless water heater go tag because with Navy
on you could save hundreds on a new Navy On
tankless water heater with local rebates. So just visit Tankless
made Simple dot com. Big plans from other's day tour
as tomorrow or what we are going out to? Uh
A late lunch so probably about one o'clock how about

(01:22:17):
you guys up there in Vermont. Nothing really nothing, you know,
my uh, let me take my wife out. But there's
still you know, my wife's a little hesitant on going
back to restaurants just yet until she gets her um
second vaccine. We haven't gotten our second shot yet. That's
that's another week or two coming up, so then we'll
probably you know, going back to the restaurants after that.
There's like eleven people in the entire state. The matter, Well,

(01:22:40):
they don't have the post I know they have the
post office up there, because as we said an hour one,
nobody knows the post office system better than your wife,
who sends the entire staff some great Christmas gifts every year.
So there's there's nothing like a Mother's Day buffet, you
know what I mean. I don't know if there's too
many buffets doll left out there. Yeah, I think they're
finally starting open open up in Vegas. We can ask
Bernie freddo the hard hitting questions like that in a minute.

(01:23:02):
But so you guys out there, you guys are not
Everything's pretty much back to normal, man, I mean, you know,
there's there's you know, I have a lot of thoughts
on why things are going back to normal. I think
it's because our governor realizes his time is ticking here.
But I think that's why things are open. But yeah,
I think it went to the yellow tier I believe

(01:23:23):
was the term. But Dodger Stadium sixty seven percent capacity
here good and yeah, things are starting to get back
to normal. But here, yeah, well here on these like
in Massachusetts if you want to go to the Red
Sock thoroughly a like, um, I believe twenty percent capacity. Yeah,
a matter of fact, they just got up to from
twelve and a half percent. So things are moving will

(01:23:44):
maybe a little bit slow out here, though I don't
know why. Like our our last five days are new
infection right here in Vermont is like thirty two fifty,
you know, stuff like that. So what even really triple
digits out of here? Well, it's interesting because we got
a kind of NBA TV and just kind of recapping
the now. But the Blazers just got fans in the
arena yesterday against the Lakers, first game all year. Yeah.

(01:24:06):
Dame Lillard of course earlier this week said so we're
just gonna be the only team without fans, huhn. Later
they brought fans in Yeah. No, last night it was
crazy because I was while I was getting ready for
the show, I was I was with my mom this afternoon.
We were kind of walking through somewhere and they were
replaying the Lakers game, and I said, oh, the Blazers.
They have fans in the stands. And I said, I
knew the game wasn't from tonight because I knew the

(01:24:27):
Lakers played Thursday Friday, and um, I said that must
be new. And then sure enough, I was obviously doing
a little homework, a little prep work for the show,
and last night was the first time all year the
Blazers had fans in the standars. Wow, you want to
be part of the show air and underscore tourist. I've
been stinking genius one just real quick, because we were
talking about Aaron Rod just to start the show off,
I mean, who's not talking about it? And we talked

(01:24:47):
about Albert Pools. I just said, was there any athlete
that left your favorite team that really just left a
bad taste in your mouth and you've never really been
able to overcome something like that. I brought up how
when Steve Garvey had to leave the Dodgers. I'm sure
when Tom Brady, Um, you know left the Patriots. Though
tom Brady was forced out, big difference between being forced

(01:25:10):
out and and leaving on your own, you know what
I mean, and Cleveland losing Lebron James. I mean we
even though he came back to win a championship. Um,
I think that you know, eased up, you know the
way people felt about him. But before then he was
like public, gotta be number one out there. Oh. Absolutely,
the first time versus the second time Lebron left, it's

(01:25:32):
it's two completely different deals. But I mean there's there's
been a lot. I mean there there's been somewhere guys
haven't wanted to leave and we're kind of forced out,
like Tom Brady. There have been others where guys left
for various reasons, like Lebron, Montana and It's Smith, you know,
people like that. Certainly Um got forced up as there
was people behind them too. Absolutely, I know you sent

(01:25:53):
a list earlier today, Patrick Ewing. People forget uh hakimla
Juan did not end his career with the with the
Houston Rockets. So there's been quite a few that have
been forced out. And then obviously there's quite a few
that have left on their own volition as well. Shack
another one. I'm sure that hurt. That one has to be,
I mean, because that one is really that was a

(01:26:13):
player decision. And I'm not saying Shack made the right
or wrong decision, but that was a player decision that
I mean, you know, we can legitimately say it altered
the course of NBA history um by him leaving Orlando
when he did. It was really interesting. I saw the
highlight we had about I think it was the twenty
seventh anniversary. If you remember, remember the day, Arnie, that

(01:26:34):
David Robinson went into the end of the regular season
and he needed to score seventy one points to win
the scoring title. It was to beat Shack in the
scoring title. And it was Shack's second season in the NBA.
So Shack was the leading score going into the final
day of the season in his second year in the NBA.
And obviously he only stayed in Orlando for about four years.

(01:26:56):
Obviously left at the at the not even his prime.
He was still just entering his prime. So that one
has to be all time. I mean, in terms of
a player at that skill set, at that age, that's
pretty high up there. I'll give you another one. Um,
how about the best wide receiver in the history of football,
Jerry Rice. I mean, I'm sure San Francisco fans were

(01:27:19):
not happy about when he left and he played for
what Seattle? And Okay, right, so there there too. So
he's still had some years left on him. So let
me ask you a questions as this conversation is about
Aaron Rodgers, who do you believe is right and who
do you believe is wrong? And the Aaron Rodgers case

(01:27:41):
specifically or is or are both sides? Have you know
kind of right and wrong elements to each of them? Well, look,
I look, Aaron has another year left on his contract.
You know, you signed the contract. You have to live
up to that. I understand you want to get into extension,
but if they don't want to give you extension, you
have to hold out. So, um, that still the option
you have left. I think he should live up to it.

(01:28:02):
But I understand that he wants to get traded, and
I think he's right for that. You know, Green Baby
made it perfectly clear last year they don't want him around,
whether it's for this year or the year after. The
only reason he's still on the team is because he
had an m v P year. If he had a
subpar year, he wouldn't be on the team right now.
It's time to move on from him. You can't just say, well,

(01:28:23):
give us one more year and then I'll move on.
It's like a girl saying I'm gonna break up with him,
but not until after Valentine's Day because I want the presence. Okay,
doesn't work that way. Okay, it's time to move on.
You gotta get rid of Aaron Rodgers. I know you
have to wait till that June first date. If that
wasn't around, I think he would have been traded by
now and he would have been gone. Aaron. Yes. So

(01:28:45):
to me, this is every one of these deals is different.
And so when we talk about Deshaun Watson pre obviously
all his his allegations just talking about trade, debt, trade, like, oh,
well you you said Deshaun Watson has no right to
ask for a trade. Well, Deshaun Watson got handed a
contract about eight months ago and he is the franchise,

(01:29:07):
the Packers. It's a different deal. They basically drew the
line in the sand about a year ago, a year
in a week, a year in ten days whatever it was,
and said, we don't think you're our answer long term.
Russell Wilson, Deshaun Watson in the NBA, Anthony Davis, you
go on and on. The organization was fully committed to them,

(01:29:27):
and those players just said, in some degree, some way,
shape or form, I'm not really committed to you. Now,
Russell Wilson didn't officially ask for a trade. That's different
than de Shaun Watson, Anthony Davis. But I only bring
it up to say that Aaron Rodgers, they did kind
of say like, yeah, you know, we like you, but
we don't love you. Your time's kind of ticking. So
word you use the analogy earlier, but we're not asking

(01:29:49):
for a divorce today. But our girlfriend is moving in,
you know, in the guesthouse. I hope you don't mind.
So I understand his frustration, and I think the team
would be crazy to trade him at this particular moment.
Make him hold out. But if that's what it comes
down to, that's a different deal. You know. It's all
going to continue to happen too, with quarterbacks able to
play for a longer period of time. Um, who knows.

(01:30:12):
When Russell Wilson, they're gonna say, well, we don't think
we're worth it. You're worth all that money, Russell, and
he's gonna say, fine, I'll go somewhere else and play
for another two, three, four more years. Let me think, yeah,
go ahead. Do you think Tom Brady screwed it up
for all these NFL teams and coaches and gms? Because
I think he did, because the narrative a year ago,
you and I were on Arnty. I say this all
the time, whatever we talk about Tom Brady. We were

(01:30:34):
on in that Titans Patriots game. When that game went
final one, tom Brady through the pick six, and we're like,
this guy's done, he's old, he stinks, and it was like, no,
the team just wasn't giving him very much support. And
I bring it up because Russell Wilson hinted at this
with his trade is that he wanted more decision making
and player personnel. Aaron Rodgers clearly isn't happy with what

(01:30:55):
the Packers have surrounded himself with. Do you think Tom
Brady two degree, all these other quarterbacks now that are elite,
they're looking around saying, wait a second, now, he told
me I can't have this guy, this guy, this guy,
and this guy tom Brady went and got his guys
and look at what happened for him. Yeah, but tom
Brady also got Antonio Brown to the Patriots too. Don't
ack like they didn't give him a few things out there.
But it was too little, too late by that anyway,

(01:31:16):
you know, Grounk get retired and the Patriots were I
think we're going downhill. They were pretty competitive to the end.
They just didn't want tom Brady anymore because of his age.
Turned out to be a big mistake. Now Belichick his
bag pedaling right now. He has to have a good
year this year or he's gonna look real stupid and
everybody's gonna say the only one because of tom Brady.

(01:31:37):
He's got a real important year this year coming up. Oh,
he absolutely does. And obviously mac Jones could be that
could listen. M'd be playing him from day one. I mean,
we're kind of at the point. If it's not day one,
it's kind of a two, uh week, three week, four deal.
I mean, I don't know how long he can wait.
If he's your guy, your delusional. If you think that
Cam Newton's you're a guy, and he's gonna take you

(01:31:58):
to a super Bowl. And if if you we do
believe that, all the power to you. I don't. And
if you really don't believe it, then you should get
mac Jones in there from day one. I don't disagree
with you on that. I mean, you know, you get,
you get the year. Here's the thing. We thought it
was gonna be okay, a to three year grace period
for Belichick because we thought Brady will go to Tampa Bay,

(01:32:20):
they'll be better because Jamis Winston turned the ball over
thirty times the year before. But whatever, they'll they'll finish
second in the division behind the Saints, and they'll get
a wild card, they'll go to the you know, maybe
the divisional round. Whatever. He won a super Bowl. And
so now all of a sudden, Belichick's clock is now
ticking us. Yeah. I know, it's a seventeen game season.

(01:32:40):
So instead of seven and nine, you go seven and
ten this year, you go eight and nine. I mean,
people are gonna start if they haven't already, and a
lot of them have. Well, your success was Tom Brady.
So I'm with you. Gotta start mac Jones because I
do think the pressure is ratcheting up a little bit
on Bill Belichick. You think you think Patrick Mahomes will
finish out his career with the Kansas City when it's

(01:33:00):
all said done. Roll just finished out his contract with them.
It's so hard to know. And I'll tell you why.
It's because this is not Brady Belichick deal. From the
perspective that Andy Reid is sixty three years old right now.
And yeah, I wish him nothing but the best, and
I'm not rushing him out the door. And I love
watching his offenses every Sunday and Monday and Thursday whenever

(01:33:23):
they play. But it feels as though Patrick Mahomes is
going to outlast Andy Reid. And so if Andy Reid
retires and you hire the wrong guy, what happens then,
right then you may want to go in a different
direction when your contracts up, especially if they don't want
to keep paying you all that money. And also if
your team is not competitive, and they'll always be competitive
with with Patrick Mahomes, but if the team is not

(01:33:45):
a super Bowl bound type team, they may want to
go in a different directions. And we just can't pay
you all that money while we have so many holes
in so many other places. You know, absolutely absolutely esppocial
to you with the offensive line problems they add um
last year, but they've already addressed those needs. I'll be
curious to see when it's all setting done for Patrick Mahomes,
how's it going to play on out? I'm curious to

(01:34:07):
One thing that bothers me about Aaron Rodgers um is
that that he didn't go and say anything for himself.
I didn't like this whole Mike Tarrico thing, you know
what I mean, what was that about. I want to
hear from the man himself. You know, he said it
last week. I mean, I think it's smart. You're you're
not you can kind of control the narrative. I mean,
what do we give feel every athlete? They control the narrative.

(01:34:28):
They put out news as they wanted, and Aaron Rodgers
didn't want to talk because he didn't want to get
asked the tough questions. I don't really blame him, but
he did want to talk. He talked through Mike Tarko.
He just didn't want to say it himself. He just
wanted somebody else to say it. You know, sure I
would also say we now know that. Oh, by the way,
maybe this information got out at an in an opportune time.

(01:34:51):
So I think even when you and I came on
air last week, it's a different deal. Knowing now that
the chief reporter, and I'm not criticizing him, but Adam
Schefter came out and said, this week, yeah was nothing.
There was nothing really new. I just gotta yeah, it
all came It all came together two hours before the draft.
So all right, you want to get in air and
Underscore Tours. I'm instinking Genius one. When we get back.

(01:35:12):
Bernie Fratto stops on by straight out of Vegas. Let's
check it and see how Vegas is doing. That's coming
up next right here on Fox Sports A Radio. Alright,
good evening everyone, Aaron Torres, Arnie Span you're right here

You want to be part of the show airon Underscore Tores,
I'm instinking Genius one. He comes up at the top
of the hour, but we talked to him. Now, it's
our buddy, Bernie Fratto. How you doing, Bernie, gentlemen, I

(01:35:55):
just wanted a one thing. I don't care if it
was a rat or a raccoon. I just want to
know where wearing a mask. Was he social distancing? Was
he exercising an abundance of caution? It's all I want
to know. Yeah, I was gonna bring that up later on.
I was there odds on that I would like to
bet that, Hey, Bertie, I'm gonna put you on the
spot when the Dodgers were up thirty nothing, if I

(01:36:17):
wanted to in game, bet the Angels to come back
and win even though they lost fourteen eleven. When I've
gotten what a thousand, the one, ten thousand, the one,
a hundred thousand and one, a million, the one, because
nobody's ever come back for a bit definite that much?
What kind of roughly, what kind of odds would I
have gotten on that well, it was only I think
in the third inning when they were up thirteen and nothing,

(01:36:38):
But I guarantee you a hundred dollars probably would have
brought you back about four thousand. Wow, about forty two one.
You you would have easily gotten that. Oh, you know,
not a lot of value though, and that I thought
it was gonna be like a thousand the one or something. Well,
the books aren't looking to be you know, stupid, I
mean nothing, No, you know, well, you know what what

(01:37:00):
it was fourteen eleven last I checked. Yes, it's over
now for a field goal. I don't know what burn
NFL drafts done. Let's talk actual football, not Arnie's crazy baseball.
And obviously with the draft comes Rookie of the Year odds.
What do you got for us? Well, we now have
offensive and defensive Rookie of the Year odds and obviously

(01:37:23):
for the offensive rookie, UH, quarterback Trevor Lawrence, who went
number one to the Jacksonville Jaguars. He's a clear favorite.
Here's the problem. History is not on his side. UH.
In the last thirty nine years, the top overall pick
has only one Rookie of the Year three times. Interestingly enough,
three all three have been in the last ten years,

(01:37:44):
Carlier Murray and Cam Newton in eleven and Sam Bradford.
And I don't know that you can really back any
quarterback because Zack Wilson. He could come out of the
gate and do well, but the Jets are gonna stink still.
Mac Jones, I don't know if he'll start before week five.
Trey Lance may not get on the field law Year,
who knows. But Ernie, you guys are and Aaron, both

(01:38:04):
of you. You remember last week when I said I
really like Najia Harris at twenty to one. He's the
most popular pick at William Hill. A ton of money's coming.
He's still down to ten to one. And uh, you know,
you've got a couple of wide receivers in the mix
that are getting some action. Cincinnati's Jamar Chase is nine

(01:38:25):
to one and Jalen Waddle and DeVante Smith are both
fifteen to one. They're gonna see the ball, They're gonna
put up numbers. And by the way, another guy getting
a lot of action is Atlanta tight end Kyle Pitts
at six to one. So I would say it's wide open,
but it's a crap shoot, you know. And there's one
other prop that just emerged yesterday. Yards passing. You could

(01:38:48):
bet Trevor Lawrence over under four thousand, one hundred and
fifty yards or Zach Wilson three thousand, eight hundred yards.
I would go on around both and remember it's a
seventeen game season, but you don't know they'd have to
play all seventeen games the you know, planets have to
align right, and you know, just one of those situations
where I think it's a crapshoot. Now, the NFL Defensive

(01:39:09):
Player of the Year, Micah Parsons has emerged as a
clear favorite at six to one, Quitty Pay right behind
him at eight to one. Betters like to bet on
edge rushers because they're very visible and if they get
sacks and they wreak having they're the type of player
on the defense that can wreck a game and get
noticed and get people to vote for them for Rookie
of the Year. But if you want to take a chance,

(01:39:31):
Patrick's or Tan at Denver ten to one, and Travan
Morriguh the Raider safety that they drafted out of TCU.
He's twenty to one on defense. Though, for the Rookie
of the Year, you can go ahead and um, you
have to be a good team. For offensive Rookie of
the Year. You could be a bad team and run
up those statistics and still win it. Don't you think

(01:39:52):
or no, oh no, I think that's a very point
because it's statistically based and it's gonna be a situation
where you've got to get reps, you've got to get numbers,
and the numbers are gonna stand out. That's how you
really measure an offensive players out put. There are a
lot of other grades that make a defensive player effective.
I mean, what if Quitty pays highly affective, but he
commands a double team, so he doesn't have great numbers,

(01:40:14):
but on film, he's doing his job. So that's a
good point, arn'tie, so burn, I want to go thirty
thousand foot view here. Obviously we're now into May. I
saw that the March betting handle came out, and I'm
gonna take a while. Guess n C A tournament was
back legalized. Gambling continues to become more kind of commonplace
across the country. Obviously you're in Vegas. I imagine March

(01:40:35):
was a pretty good month for the books. Go to
the front of the class here, and he's got a
pretty good arm. You better watching watch the back of
your head. Uh yes, uh, look, the March handle was
just released by the Gaming Commission last week. Las Vegas
sports books in March did six hundred and forty six

(01:40:58):
million dollars thirty nine million in profit. That's up from
last year. I know it was COVID, but everything didn't
shut down to March seventeenth. Here's the kicker. Because I
had been saying all along, I get the feeling, I
get the feeling we're gonna set a new March Madness record.
And then I heard we came close. We were a
little short. Here's the final tally. The March Madness was

(01:41:19):
a three hundred fifty million dollar handle, breaking the record
of three from so Vegas is flying. Forty four shows
are back, conventions are returning in June. Hotel bookings are
through the roof. It's very crowded, very packed here. Other
than people wearing masks, it feels the same. But at
your point erin the March handel was outstanding, and it's

(01:41:41):
aided and embedded by a lot of things, including a
lot of problems. Real quick, I just want to jump
in dumb question for the casual listener. Handle is total
money brought in or total win by the books. That's
the total amount the books have bet in the in wagers.
So yeah, so Let's say there's a game between the
Jets and the Colts and there's a five thousand dollar handled.

(01:42:03):
That means the books cumulatively took five thousand dollars in
wagers on that game. The common term in parlances they
call it the handle. Uh, you know, I know we're
gonna get to the NBA, But I want to ask
you this. Remember when we were talking to you last
year or months ago, uh, but last year actually, and
people you said, people that been on Tom Brady tend

(01:42:24):
up with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers got something like twenty
to one or maybe something you want rageous than that.
Can we do the same thing with Aaron Rodgers? I mean,
let's face it, he's not gonna go back to Green Bay.
Can we just bet that he's gonna be on Denver
and get what five to one, ten to one? Or
is he going to stay on Green Bay? Can we
bet this thing? Or what you can get it in

(01:42:45):
nonregulated markets? And there are plenty of those, and right
now the latest I checked on this late last night,
it's really kind of a fluid situation. It's actually now
even money that Aaron Rodgers will be a packer and
he will stay in green Bay and the you know,
or you can get the field at five to one.

(01:43:05):
I've talked to local people here and frankly, the Raiders
don't really want them. I mean, they have to give
up an arm and a leg. He's maybe got two
years left. And the reason the Raiders struggle is because
of their defense. So Aaron Rodgers couldn't save the day. Now,
I know Denver would crawl through four miles on broken
glass on their knees to get him. And I think
Mark Shlareth has reported that he thinks it may be done.

(01:43:27):
You know, I just don't know. I'm really following it closely.
I'm gonna talk about it a lot tonight. Uh if
you put a gun to my head, I think he's
still in green Bay. But this is such a fluid situation,
and it's only May. Once we crossed June one and
the lower salary cap hit rears its head. But again,
what are you going to get? What is Green Bay

(01:43:48):
going to get back from him? When they're gonna have
to pay the price of going from a team to
probably a seven or eight win team. They're on the
cusp of the Super Bowl there twenty six and six
their last two years. They've been to the NFC Championship
game twice. And I get it that Rogers is only
one and four in NFC Championship games, but he loves
to play football. I can't see him retiring. He loves

(01:44:10):
Green Bay. He's going through this little diet tribe. That's
my long winded way of saying, I just can't believe
that he's gonna go anywhere. The last one burned from me. Obviously,
NBA playoffs are getting really close here. What do betters
that maybe you know, don't really pay attention till the
NBA at until after March madness. What do they need
to know as we gear up for the playoffs. Well,

(01:44:31):
if you look throughout this season, there have been a
couple of teams you wouldn't suspect that have been absolutely
favorable and very friendly to the people who backed them.
The number one team they've covered six of the games,
arn'tis New York. I was about to say New York
Nicks up there, Uh four three against the number. This

(01:44:54):
is amazing to me. They're an average plus four point
seven to the good against the spread. That means the
markets just never caught up with him. They kept making
him a big dog, and the Knicks would win those
games out right. And you know, obviously they weren't a
favorite very much, and they would hang the number all
the time. And they got smoked by Phoenix yesterday. But
for the most part, hey, this is a playoff team.

(01:45:15):
They've had a great year. Not surprisingly, the worst team
against the number the Los Angeles Lakers. They cash why.
They're expensive. They're always expensive, and so if you bet them,
you're gonna pay a big tax. Phoenix has also done
incredibly well. I guess that's to be expected. I'm very

(01:45:37):
intrigued by them. I'll tell you what, if they they
found their way into the NBA Finals, I wouldn't be surprised. Utah, Washington, Memphis,
they're all very profitable for their betters. Meanwhile, bringing up
the rear, the worst in the league the Houston Rockets
twenty three and four four. They've only covered thirty four
percent of their game. Bernie there, guys, yeah, yeah, the

(01:46:03):
Eastern Rockets. I don't know if you heard that last part.
There only forty four against the number. They only covered
their games. I love it. He's Bernie Frodos, straight out
of Vegas. He's coming up at the top of the hour,
must listen to we can't wait to hear your Bernie.
Appreciate you stopping on by. Come on out, guys, we'll
have some fun. I understand rat is gonna open up
and they're gonna do their version of Rocky Raccoon. I

(01:46:26):
love that. Thank you, Bernie Frado straight out of Vegas.
Try the vil. He's here all week. Coming up at
the top of the hour. Let's get a final check
in with the Sager. What's happening out there? Referencing the Mets.
There Francisco Lindoor batting one nine, starting the big contract
with the Mets, did score on a throwing air as
he was stealing second and came all the way around tonight.

(01:46:48):
And he also later had an RBI single and they
won by two. So a w for the Mets tonight,
four two over Arizona. And they do say Jacob deGrom
will start tomorrow after his side injury, so not all
is bad. He needs a man up and pitch every game,
every game. Yeah, it's God, doesn't do it. Man up.
They need him to pitch every game. It's been that
way for a few years now. Meanwhile, Clayton Kershaw was

(01:47:10):
needed on short rest for the Dodgers tonight. Five scoreless innings,
five strikeouts. The Dodgers led thirteen nothing in the fifth inning,
the bullpen allowed eleven runs to make it interesting. The
Dodger lead after seven was fourteen eleven. In Anaheim against
the Angels, Dodger offense left base loaded top of the eighth.
Probably some fans say, oh, here we go, but then

(01:47:30):
two reliable relievers closed it out and it was Victor
Gonzalez with a scoreless eighth. Blake tried it with his
first save of the year, a scoreless ninth, two strikeouts.
Dodgers win fourteen eleven. This Dodgers team, as defending champs,
had started this season thirteen and two. The last three weeks,
the Dodger record was four and fourteen and not a
lot of offense, certainly not clutch offense with runners in

(01:47:52):
scoring position. They've been awful all week tonight, just the
first five innings ten for sixteen with runners in scoring positions.
So the four game lou Sink streak is over. I
will say that one of the reasons they needed a
starter on short rest this weekend, Dustin May is due
to have Tommy John surgery on Tuesday. The Dodgers have
eight pictures on the injured list. Also hurt last night.

(01:48:12):
Outfielder Aj Pollock was out tonight with a strain hamstring.
Cody Bellinger's missed over a month. Atlanta with a crazy
game on FS one tonight that ended after midnight Eastern time.
With four runs in the bottom of the twelfth, the
Braves beat the Phillies eight seven, ending the Phils five
game winning streak. Ronald Lacun of Atlanta did leave after
being hit by pitch on the hand. It's just a
bruised finger, they say. The excitement bottom of the night,

(01:48:35):
Pablo Sandoval, he's still in the league, hit a two
run homer to tie it with two outs and two strikes,
his fourth pinch homer already this year. Toronto won at
Houston eight to four. The White Sox scored eight runs
in the first inning, top of the first. They went
on to a nine one win at Kansas City, which
has lost seven in a row. Lance Lynn with another

(01:48:56):
Victorizy Areas about a one and a half. Texas throughout
a runner at home to end the game and beat
Seattle nine eight, and Rangers had scored three in the
bottom of the eighth. Boston Red Sox. Remember when they
were swept in the season opening series three games, three
losses against the Orioles. Since then, well, they seems like
they haven't lost twenty one and ten is the good team,

(01:49:18):
though I don't know how the hell they're doing it well.
They do have Alex Verdugo, the Dodger prospect. They got
Mookie to bats trade, But you're right top to bottom.
It's it's a little bit of a wonder. Zander Bogart's
is batting over three fifty at three hits, including a homer.
Boston won at Baltimore eleven to six. Milwaukee into the
six game losing streak with a six to win at
Miami Cleveland's Aaron Sevali's five and oh After beating the

(01:49:40):
Reds nine to two, Oakland and San Francisco each one again,
Cubs won their fifth straight Yankees one in eleven innings. St.
Louis BA Colorado nine eight Today in the NBA, and
the regular season ends a week from Sunday. Utah's first
in the West game and a half over Idle Phoenix.
Now Utah is fifty and eighteen after in Houston tonight.

(01:50:00):
Now the Suns will be at the Lakers tomorrow night.
Lebron James will miss a fourth straight game. Kyle Kuzma
doubtful for the Lakers with a bad back steph Curry
did play at Golden State three quarters worth forty nine
points in twenty nine minutes. Golden State ripped the Thunder
one thirty six to nine seven. Okase, He's lost six
in a row Portland and Brooklyn, with wins Philadelphia one

(01:50:22):
at eighth straight, Memphis got a victory and Washington wanted
overtime on too late free throws from Russell Westbrook. He
had a triple double in a win in Indiana one
thirty three, one thirty two. Bradley Beal fifty points for
the Wizards. He left late with a hamstring strain. Two
other items, two other sports. NHL is closing out in
just over a week. Pittsburgh won the East Toronto clinch,

(01:50:43):
the North Nashville clinch to playoff birth tonight and engulf.
Rory McElroy's two shots back at the event in Charlotte.
But the news is from Bryson to Shambo. He had
to take an eighteen hundred mile round trip flight home
to Dallas and back. He thought he had missed the cut.
Yesterday flew to Texas. Turns out he didn't miss the cut.

(01:51:04):
He's still golfing this weekend. He made it back to
Quail Hollow in North Carolina with an hour to spare
this morning, shot sixty eight, but a double bogie on
the last hole. He's eight shots behind, tied for twenty three.
You mentioned the boxing earlier. That was at the Dallas
Cowboys Stadium crowd of seventy three thousand Canelo Alvarez super
middleweight champ t k O win over Billy Joe Saunders

(01:51:25):
after the eighth round. Back to you, like, by the way,
when's that what you will call it? Fight? The YouTube
guy fight? You mean I'm talking about real boxing, You're
talking about the YouTube guys fight? Yeah, I guess I
couldn't give you a date on that one. I honestly could.
To see this, I do. I'll pay a couple hundred
just to see that one. What's funny, it's his brother

(01:51:49):
that's actually fighting Floyd Mayweather, I know, on the other
and the other guy took the hat right, Yes, Yeah, Jake, Paul, Jake, Paul,
you wouldn't pay a hundred hours to watch up oh,
just to see if he gets his butt kicked. So
here's my question, you should get his butt kicked? By
the way, is floy So like Floyd's getting paid a

(01:52:09):
lot of money for this, right, he doesn't go out
of his house unless he's getting paid. Yes, No, And
I understand. I actually heard an interview with him. It
was really interesting this weekend and they were like, He's like,
they want me to come back and fight real fighters.
He's like, they're paying me a hundred million for an exhibition?
What am I? What? Am I gonna fight a real fighter?
But my my point is if we know it's an exhibition,
and he knows that we're paying, and he wants to

(01:52:31):
keep getting paid this money for exhibitions, like he's got
a toy with him for a few rounds. Right, you
can't just knock him out in thirty seconds? Well it's Floyd,
there's no second And that's what I'm saying. So, but
shouldn't he be able to knock him out in thirty
That's what I'm saying. He's not a real fighter. So
to answer Artie, Artie, I think I would pay the
hundred dollars just because I don't think it will be
over in thirty seconds or one round. He should kick

(01:52:54):
his butt though, if you want, I mean, if he
wanted to, I think you should be able to take
him out in a second. And I don't think this
guy is very tough. I again, I saw this last fight.
He fought what that m M A guy or something
shamed on that guy. I should fight that guy, get
some money. Apparently we're a month away from the fight.
Just for the record, are you taking that night off any?
I mean you're taking off for the next victory parade.

(01:53:16):
I know you're a big Logan Paul guy, So I
don't know if you're taking all right that that was
really the sound of hope question. He's taking a full
week off, but somehow not missing a single one of
these shows. So yeah, so there you go. By by
the way, you're filling it. We're filling in for next
Friday night. Yes, next Friday night. I'm not giving you

(01:53:37):
the night off. And you guys are on next Saturday
night also, right, Yes, we are family. I may I
may have to give the keys to Torres for Friday night.
I I don't know if the bosses are gonna like that, though,
I'm gonna have to double and triple check fill out
you know, forms and triple kitten all that stuff. So
what you're basically saying is Jason and Mike show just

(01:53:57):
means because you don't trust me in our window, but
you're just gonna throw it for First of all, let
the record show. I've run the show without you. I've
run the show on Sunday's heard what happened You've done
without me? Believe me, we've heard. We want to mark
Cony for one Sunday show Me and Bernie Fratto asked Bernie,
next time he's on, what were the odds on that?
And then we won one. I have no idea we're

(01:54:18):
filling in for Jonas and Brady. So anyway, if you
need me to drive you just let me know. Okay,
I don't know how to drive a stick shift. I
may do it. I learned how to drive it. I
learned how to drive on a stick shift in real life. Um,
I wanna have to do one discovery. But anyway, continued,
I want to ask you real quick what happens if
the Lakers were the same record as the Utah Jazz

(01:54:41):
and they were fifty and eighteen, what would we be saying.
We'd be going, Oh, this Laker team, they're just so fatime,
there's no stopping them. Put him in the finals right now.
We'd be going on and on and on about them.
Here's Utah fifty eighteen. All we hear is, please don't
let them make the finals. Nobody wants to see them.
And you people like you say and yeah, I still
don't believe they're gonna go to the finals. We no

(01:55:03):
respect for the Utah Jazz. I will say, if the
Lakers in this season had the record that the Utah
Jazz did, which is the best record in the NBA,
I think we would be talking about it as one
of the most impressive regular seasons ever. Seriously, off of
the bubble where they didn't play, They didn't end the

(01:55:24):
season until what the middle of September, and then they
had to come back Christmas Day, I think we'll be
talking about them as as one of the great not
great individual teams are great, but but one of the
great accomplishments in the sport. And I'll also say, I
think that's why people aren't that upset that the combination
of eighties injury, Lebron's injury, and that's why, like we

(01:55:46):
kind of get yeah, they're a little banged up this
year after everything they had to deal with last last
summer and fall to get that season in. Yeah, but
Laker fans always thought even though they were banged up,
they were gonna make a run in the playoffs. Now
I think they're coming to the realization that are banged
up and there isn't going to be a running the
playoffs for the Lakers. You know, I don't know how
you can think that based on the fact that, as

(01:56:06):
you just said, they are banged up, they've lost eight
out of their last ten. Couple of them aren't haven't
even been competitive. I'd be I mean, I'd be worried
if I was a Lakers fans. So no, that's why
I said that I would be worried. Maybe I said
that wrong. You're right, I I I Laker fans are
word they're coming through the realization, Um, it's going to
come to an m all right, you want to get
an air and underscore tours. I'm in stinking genius one

(01:56:28):
who have a few predictions before we get out of here.
That's next right here on Fox sports or radio. All right,
could even think everyone Aaron Torres already spanned your final
segment of the show. Remember Bernie Fraddles straight out of
Vegas coming up at the top of the hour. Right,
a few predictions. I'm gonna mix it up for you,
Torres real quick before we do that. Two things, well, One,

(01:56:51):
I want to wish best Span You're happy Mother's Day.
Thank you very much. And you and your mom too.
Thank you. My mom was listening earlier. She may be
asleep by now. Mom, if you're still listening, Happy Mother's Day.
Can't wait to hang out tomorrow. But we appreciate all
the moms out there, many moms I'm sure are listening
across the country. So thank you for everything that you
guys all do. Uh. And yeah, now we can get

(01:57:13):
back to all right, here we go. I'm gonna give
you the first one left out of left field here.
I don't even know if anybody cares about this. I
think you do. Um, University of Hartford going for to
give me start on this. It's going from D one
to D three. Um is an absolute travesty that's going
on right now. So for people don't know, yes, uh,

(01:57:34):
it is a small school in Connecticut. It is in
the town where I grew up West Hartford, Connecticut. I
could literally walk there from the house that I grew
up in. And yeah, it is a travesty. They just
are coming off their first ever nc A tournament. Um
the school president is on a power trip. He claims
it's over money, yet all the projections show that they
won't save nearly as much money as they're claiming. Uh,

(01:57:56):
donations are certainly going to go down. And it's a travesty.
I mean they're they're uh hundreds of kids at that
school right now that signed up to play D one athletics.
They're either gonna have to transfer, they're gonna be phased out.
I'm sure you saw Arnie the softball team has blacked out. Yes, yes,
they've black out. Of bothered me though, to be honest
with you, Aaron, because well, you're under scholarship. They were

(01:58:17):
gonna under the scholarships whether you want to be there
or not. I think I would have kind of lost
my cool if I was the president. I saw that, Well,
if you're a student that came there to be a
Division one athlete, when yes, I would, Yes I would.
I I am sympathetic to them. So that's why I
didn't make a big deal about it. But um, I

(01:58:38):
do feel bad for them, I I really do. And
one less team in Americas. Uh, Aaron Rodgers will be
the starting quarterback for what team? When we one comes around?
I know I'm in the minority. I'm still gonna say
Green Bay Packers, Jared Bernie Frado's still fifty fifty. Here's
my question, Jordan's of Do you believe he'll be on

(01:59:01):
the Packers to start next season? Yes? Absolutely? Why wouldn't
he be on the team. Well, I mean if Aaron
Rodgers comes back and maybe behind the scenes there's a
few ultimatums. Um, I'm not saying he's gonna demand that
Jordan's love be traded, but I mean, you know, that's
a pretty good commitment to Aaron Rodgers. Is hey, the
guy that we drafted to replace you. You know, Well,

(01:59:25):
the way should he be saying anything or he's doing
the right thing? Um by keeping low talking about Jordan's love.
You're talking about Jordan love now, Yeah, I mean, yeah,
I don't. The thing is, I don't really know what
he could say, right, Like, I mean, seriously, because how
about he said, yeah, we should get rid of Rodgers.
I'm ready to take a spot. How about that? Yeah
he wont the v P, but you should have seen

(01:59:46):
me in practice. Yeah, I know the wouldn't let me
put out a uniform, but may that be great if
he could say, look, he's not all that great anyway.
It's a team effort. So yeah, get rid of him. Yeah,
he's only good. You should see what I the work
I put in with him in the film room every day.
I'm the story. I'm the real story here. But I
would I would totally love to see that the Lakers
will go how far in the NBA playoffs. They will

(02:00:09):
go at least into the playing round. Now I'm kidding.
I think they win the playing round at that. After
that they have to play maybe Phoenix, I guess be
interesting because that's not the normal, even for a downtrodden
team like the Lakers. Are trading in the wrong direction.
I mean, the Suns basically have no guys except for

(02:00:29):
Chris Paul that have played in the playoffs. So I mean,
if you're gonna get a first round opponent as the Lakers,
I mean, I'd be curious. This is a question we
should ask Bernie Fratto who would be favored in a
seven game series. I would guess would be the Suns
because especially they have home court advantage. But I mean,
you're looking at here's their their top five scores. Devin

(02:00:51):
Booker's never played in the playoffs, Chris Paul obviously, DeAndre
Atan's never played in the playoffs. Michael Bridges has never
played in the playoffs. So and can Amma Johnson has
never played in the playoffs. So all right, let me
let me give you one more real quick and if
you answer anything, then then what you should answer, I'm
gonna call you out because we haven't talked about this,
so the answer should be no. But to no hitters

(02:01:12):
in three days, there's no hitters still a big deal.
The answer is no. It is though, because we didn't
even talk about it. I like all these historic no
hitters that we're getting. No, Like, well, this one's sort
of a no hitter, but it doesn't count because we
have the seven run seven innings, And then the other
one the other day that was a perfect game, but
it was really a no hitter because a guy reached
on a strikeout. So as long as they keep getting

(02:01:34):
quirky I'm down for him, so yeah, but again, back
in the day would be against big name pitchers that
would throw no hitters. Now it's like, who are these
guys throwing no whit does? Don't even know who these
guys are. Yeah, but it's not a big deal. Yeah,
I'm with you on that one. Not a big deal
at all. And uh, matter of fact that that that

(02:01:55):
it's not a great accomplishment, but it just seems like
people are, you know, not going all crazy when they
see no hitter out there. So I get others day.
By the way, Happy Mother's date to everybody. Thanks to everybody,
Laker Don thanks to beauregard Our producer to Sager on
the updates my partner Aaron Torres Bernie coming up next
