rate quote Aaron Torres, Arnie Span your great sports talk
(00:23):
Saturday Night. How you doing Torres? I am doing well, Arnie.
I gotta just ask off the top, do you have
a A F fever or what? Oh? I'm all over
a f What do you kid me my Arizona hot Shots? Yeah, yes,
I'll ask me who plays? I don't know, but I'm
going with my hot Shots this year I walked into
(00:45):
the studio and they were like, oh, we we got
the A F on for you and I'm like, oh cool,
Like is there no other real sport on right? Well,
first of all, I want to thank you for coming today.
I was surprised. I know you're very nervous. I know
it's a off time for you right now. I don't
have a lot on your mind. So um, I want
you to know I appreciate you coming in. Well, You're welcome.
(01:07):
I I you know, you are very lucky that I
grace your presents every Saturday. So you wow what I
tell my fiance all the time whenever she's you know,
you're just lucky to well you want for Valentine's I mean, well,
that's what I'm talking about. You got you got recently engaged,
did you not? I mean like eight months ago? Right?
But this, this is your first Valentine's Day since you've
(01:29):
been engaged. Right, yeah, absolutely, you understand the immense pressure
that's on you right now, don't you. There's literally no
pressure at all. Oh my goodness, how naive are you?
I'll tell you why? How? No? No, let me tell you. Okay,
let me let me explain something to you. For a
guy that's been married over one hundred years, I want you,
I want you to know something. This is your first
(01:52):
Valentine since you've been engaged, and you told me there's
no pressure. I'll tell you there's no. You're so naive.
I love these millennial nowadays showed never forget her first
Valentines since you were engaged. You gotta do something special.
Flowers dinner, so sooner, off the Vegas then go to
(02:13):
New York City, go to Paris. Go to Italy by
her new car. You gotta do all that? What's wrong
with you? Okay? So two things really quick. Yes, First
of all, she literally said to me, what are you
getting me for Valentine's like two days ago? And I said,
I got you the ultimate gift. You said, rock on
(02:35):
your finger. You see that thing that got came out
of that diamond mine. I said, hey, you want a gift,
I'll give you a gift. Give me that ring back. First,
you sound like a gem to be married to and
you're not even married. You got some blood diamonds. I
didn't want to say it. I didn't want to say it.
I have some thoughts on where that diamond to come from.
I actually do have a hypothetical and not even hypothetical,
(02:57):
just a scenario I want to run by you. I
read it by Dan Buyer when I was filling in
the other day. So this Valentine's not even this Valentine's
just in general, might not be a wedding if you
don't have a good Valentines I want you to know that.
But no, but let me put the press urew and
you go ahead. All right. So there's a very nice
steakhouse down the street from where we live. It's Flemings.
(03:18):
You know. I don't know if I should throw out
the name there in case we have another steakhouse that
sponsors our show. But we got a Flemings White right
within walking distance, right down the street from where we live.
And you know, her and I had a happy hour
every once in a while and it's a good spot whatever,
nice food, nice nice cuisine. Whatever. So I bought her
a gift card around Christmas time to Flemings because I
(03:40):
was like, oh, we'll go on some dates whatever. We
haven't used it yet, So my question for you, Aren'tie,
am I allowed to bring her to Flemings on Valentine's
Day with the kind of subtle understanding that we're gonna
use the gift because I'm still paying for it. It's
technically her gift card now, but I put down the
money up front. Am I allowed to bring her to Flemings?
(04:02):
And do you not want to get married? I just
do you not want to get married? You got to engage,
you know. I usually call him Rader Ryan. Just for this, mom,
I want to call him Papa Bear even again. Which
would you tell him what he's doing? Rock? Papa bear. Gosh,
she's not listening to me. Um, you know the saying
(04:23):
spare the rods, spoiled the child. Okay, well, I mean
if you go easy on her in the beginning, she
thinks you can walk right over over you. So I
mean what Air is doing is very smart. You put
the ba down early because so she knows she can't
push him over if I take her to Italy on
the first Valentine's where I gotta take her the second
(04:45):
Valentines of the moon, they're not taking Marge. Is some
advice my dad gave me before I got married. Okay, alight.
My dad said when him and my mom got married,
they made a deal. My mom would make all the
all of decisions in life and my dad would make
all the big decisions in life. In fifty years of marriage,
(05:06):
there was never a big decision. So I just there
there you go, all right. We got a lot to
get through. By the way, if you do have advice
for Torres, please give it to him. If you don't
want to listen to me, Aaron underscore Torres or instincting
genius one, please explain to him how there's forget about
no pressure. There's the most pressure right now. He should
be sweating. A matter of fact, he should pass out
(05:27):
right now because there's so much pressure on him. Right now,
can I say really quick? I know we actually have
to talk about sports. I feel like there's no pressure
now because she's so naive. She just wants to get
down the aisle. She just wants that ring, and she
just wants complete control. I feel like there will be
a lot of pressure next year. Next year, the buzz
because we're getting married in July. Here, the buzz of
(05:49):
the wedding will have worn off and it will be
back to so what kind of good stuff did you
get next year? I feel like this year I'm off
the hook though, all right? Tell him Aaron underscore Torres,
I'm in stinking genius swim. Um, A couple of things
we want to get to. Obviously, it is a busy day.
I know we have a whole bunch of stuff to
get through the first weekend, the first show of us
having to do without the NFL around. But um, I
(06:12):
wanted to go and start with Anthony Davis. You heard
the reports that the NBA was gonna find the Pelicans
a hundred thousand dollars if they were gonna go ahead
and sit Anthony Davis. Now. I know he played twenty
four minutes last out. I believe he played thirty four
minutes tonight, and they're lucky they played him thirty four minutes.
And it's not because they were gonna get find a
(06:33):
hundred thousand dollars. And I can't believe so many people
have gotten this wrong, got their opinion wrong on this
side of the story. I was listening to Brian, No
great guy, he got it wrong. Um, I gotta say,
you don't go ahead and handle it the way the
Pelicans are handling it right now? How are they handling it?
I think it's and I'm gonna play what Van Gundy
(06:56):
said later on in the show, but I want you
to know something. What uh what the Pelicans are doing
to him? I find so disgusting and so heinous that
they would sit the guy after twenty four minutes because
they're so mad at him for saying that he doesn't
want to be there anymore. I think this is a
bullying tactic and I don't think it should be tolerated
(07:18):
in the NBA right now. Aaron Well, I completely disagree.
This only happened and you I guess you got it
wrong too, so go ahead. This only happened because he
demanded a trade because he's under contract for another eighteen
months and he's saying, I don't want to play for
your organization. To me, this all comes back to you
don't sign the contract if this isn't where you want
to be long term. And let me ask you this.
(07:40):
Suppose he said, Okay, I want to come back, but
I only want to sign a one year extension. What
do you think the Pelicans would have said that. Suppose
suppose his contract ended at the end of this year
and he told the Pelicans, fine, I'll sign with you again,
but I only want to sign for one year a
right what what? What would the Pelicans do? What would
(08:01):
the Pelicans do? Uh? If they said no, no, no,
one year is not good enough. Um, we're gonna go
ahead and bench you until you decide to sign with
us for the NBA MAX what would you do that? Well,
that's different because he has some leverage at that point,
because he would just say, Okay, you don't want to
play me, I'll leave in the off season. But right
(08:21):
now it's clear he doesn't want to be there. They
have to do what's best for this organization, and right now,
what's best for the organization isn't necessarily what's best for
Anthony Davis. They know he's not gonna be their long
term I don't know that they really want to win
games right now, and I frankly, I don't really know
that they want to keep him around. But he is around,
and he is under contract, and they are allowed to
(08:43):
do what they want. Unfortunately, we all have bosses, we
all have somebody to answer to. Anthony Davis and his
his agent Rich Paul tried to pull a power play
and they didn't. It didn't work out well for him.
A right, I know people are on the line. Is
he from on the line? Is that what you guys
told me? Did he from? Want to go ahead and
chim on and Eve from who was on before us
with Brian? No, how you know what he from? I'm
(09:04):
good man, how you do it? Good? Good? Look. I'm
just gonna when you start asking Papa Bear or Raider
Ryan for a relationship advice. I'm in the car. I
literally just left the building. I'm in the car. I
had to call in and strike anything he said from
(09:28):
the record. You do not want to go into a
marriage with advice from Papa Bear. Thank you, so tell him,
tell him this first Valentine's Day is the most important
of them all. He's getting bad advice, he from I'll
tell you this. You've you've proposed to this young woman, right,
you know, and she said yes, that's kind of proposal. Yes,
(09:51):
thank you. Right. So, so when you were in a
situation like this, Valentine's Day is good. Hopefully you get
to the point of your relationship or you guys, don't
celebrate Valentine's. My wife and I we stopped celebrating Valentine's
about a decade ago. Fantastic makes no sense right her
yesterday more than I'm gonna love her on Thursday like it.
(10:13):
Trust me, it's it's you. It will save you a
lot of this heartache and money. But what I will
say is it's okay to do something extraordinary for your
wife or you're soon to be wife at any time
Valentine's if you want to go all out, go all out.
Never go into doing something like I don't want to
do it like this because she's gonna expect this. She
(10:35):
knows you, right, tell her right. So the things that
that that that that will make her smile. Focus in
on doing those things I don't worry about. Don't worry
about it if if it's too much now and what
about later all that TI, don't don't get caught up
in there. Oh my goodness, you're getting sappy on me.
(10:56):
Oh my god, I thought you were gonna set up
straight theory from I'm not so sure that out. Hey. Look,
what I'm telling you is to find real love, it
is hard to do. Once you find it. Number one,
you have to nourish you. Okay, you have to nourish it.
You have to make it grow and you, hopefully you
guys grow together. I'm giving you the real. Me and
(11:16):
my wife been together for fourteen years, been married for
thirteen years. Like, trust me, I know what it is.
I know what it is. I don't know what Papa
bart got going on over there. I know Lea Dayton.
Trust what I'm telling you. I appreciate. I don't need
Dr Drewe. I got E's okay, that's great. From my
(11:39):
love him to death. Honestly, that's the dumbest thing I
ever heard. Stick with me, all right, this is what
I gotta say. I'll break you home, playboy, I'll break
it home. You know what I'm saying? Yeah, is even
still there? Now you have to decide you're gonna listen
to Papa there, You're gonna listen to the super Bowl chance?
(12:00):
Are you the particle? He's got a super Bowl ring
and a heart of goal. That's the man that I
am listening to now. He said he was married for
fourteen years. Yes, I've been married for you can ask
give me a hard questions. Now, I've been married for
round up carry the four. It's like, at least can
(12:21):
you do the math for me? So that would be uh, alright,
So let's yeah, twenty four years, right, So it was
during World War One? You guys got the three Aaron
underscore Torres, I'm in stinking genius. One will come back.
I want to get so much more into the Anthony
(12:42):
Davis situation because I think the Pelicans are so wrong,
and I think also obviously Torres is wrong. I'm trying
to think of his name. I'm so flustered. All that's
coming up next right here on Fox Sports All Radio?
All right, could he think everyone? Aaron Torres, aren't he
spatting you around? Fox Sports Radio? And it's brought to
you by this, Discover become a new card member. Discovery
(13:02):
will match all the cashback you've burn dollar for dollar
at the end of your first year. Learn more at
discovered dot com. Slash match limitations do apply. Getting a
lot of Twitter, what did you say? Yes? Does a genius?
To who? You answering? I, I I can't figure it out. Okay,
so we had our buddy, Shawn said, and it isn't
(13:23):
actually genius where I think about He said, the right
move would be to find the gift card and then
pocket it. And then when you take take the lady
out when the bill comes, you grab the bill really
quick and say, hey, sweetie, I got it, slip the
gift card in as as if it's your credit card.
It's a great it's a great idea until she goes
(13:45):
looking for the gift card like two weeks later. That's true,
that's true. But then I can then I I don't
know where the gift card is. I mean here, I
gave it to you, and I can't. I don't know
where it is. Better, I have a better idea. Better
move is when the bill comes, say oh, honey, have
to go to the bathroom, and you stoop off the back.
This is why we don't ask you for advice. You know,
(14:05):
this is this was my mistake. You know what was
my mistake. It would be tough. That's that's a great idea.
The only part that would be tough is when she
can find our way home she comes back to the
apartment that we both live in. Then I would have
Darryl said, is Torres a trolling from or does he
seriously believe he has a Super Bowl ring? I thought
he was a Super Bowl he does know he played
(14:28):
the falcons that part. Hey, listen, I'll tell you what
he's played in a Super Bowl. I never have. So wow,
don't don't don't say that you're you're a good guy. Also, yes,
I appreciate that I think I'm awesome. I'm lying. I'm
being sarcastic. Please stop, all right. Um, And there's a
lot of me on Twitter, so we'll get to them
in a little bit. Um. Just back to Anthony Davis.
(14:51):
Let me ask you this. Suppose, Um, I pick up
a guy that you know that you maybe never heard of,
or a little known guy because I need to fill
out my roster. Maybe I have an early injury. And
I said, you don't want to take this guy I
saw in the jim used to be a football player.
But man, I was watching him in the jim he
could play some serious hoops. I put him on my team.
(15:13):
After ten games, next thing I know, he's averaging fifteen
the twenty points a game. And I go to my go,
you know what, I want to sign you. I'm gonna
give you a million a year. And he says to
be hey that forget a million a year, I can
get two million a year. When when the season's over
and I go, well, you're not gonna sign with us,
I'm gonna go ahead and put you on the bench
and devalue you. How's that for something. How would you
(15:36):
like me to do something like that? Aaron, Well, I
wouldn't like you personally, but your management. I mean, this
is this is what happens with Anthony Davis. When you
make the decision, I am going to say that I
don't want to play here. You better hope that your
agent does his job and gets you out of there,
which his agent didn't do. By the way, I don't
(15:57):
blame Anthony Davis. Anthony, to me, I have no problem
with what Anthony Davis did. He said, I've been in
the league like seven years now, We've won one playoff series.
You've done nothing to put a competitive team around me.
But at the same time, you have to know that
that when you demand a trade a week before the deadline,
there's a chance of trade isn't gonna go down, and
(16:19):
there's a chance you're gonna have to come back to
that organization. And I do think and this is kind
of in the macro, not just with Anthony Davis. I
think Anthony Davis and his agent, Rich Paul, who's obviously
Lebron's guy, which so Lebron you know, is in on
it too. I think they all overplayed their hand. I
think they all thought, oh, we're gonna say that we're
only going to the Lakers, and we're gonna have Anthony
Davis's dad say he won't sign with the Celtics and
(16:40):
blah blah blah. And it didn't work, and now Anthony
Davis has to deal with the repercussions. It didn't work
because the Pelicans are doing the wrong thing. Well, because
I thought they got a really good offer. And if
I'm Boston, I couldn't sign Anthony Davis and give away
the farm because I don't because you already heard what
his father had to say, what his father speak for him.
His father there hasn't hasn't said anything in six years.
(17:03):
But he now obviously there's a reason why he's talking now.
He's trying to change the narrative here. This is not
the American way. You don't go ahead and punish somebody
because they don't want to go in and sign long
term with you. I think that's extremely wrong and extremely dangerous.
What happens if Kevin Durant answered one question about whether
(17:24):
he was coming back to Golden State and said, no,
I don't think I'm gonna come back after this year.
With Golden State have benched him, would they have traded
him before the trading deadline? Maybe I don't think so.
But what Lynn White, Why don't they do the same
thing to Kevin Durant because they have a championship to win.
The difference is the Pelicans, now they know they're Superstar
(17:45):
doesn't want to be there. They've actually got to try
to lose games. Now the Warriors have to try to
win games because Kevin Durant can leave at the end
of the year. Anthony Davis cannot. He's sucked there for
one year. Great point, this is what happens is that
everybody wants every everybody wants to be so pro player.
Why is nobody talking about the fact that this guy
signed a deal through two thousand twenty are if you
(18:07):
signed a four year contract with Fox Sports Radio and
a year and a half in you decide you want
out or two and a half years in. Fox Sports
Radio doesn't have to play by your rules. They say,
we you sign a contract, get behind the mic and
shut your mouth like that's exactly what's happening with Anthony
Davis right now. No, it's it's a little bit different though,
because they went ahead and only played him twenty four minutes.
(18:28):
They went ahead and didn't play him after three fifteen
left in the third quarter. And that's the problem. You
have problem. I have a big problem because they could
have well, first of all, they could have used them
down the stretch. Well, they they played him thirty four
minutes today. What what's the difference between today and yesterday.
I don't know. I'm just saying, I'm just I mean,
(18:49):
I I don't I think they wanted to send the
point to him first day and not the second day,
and another thing. Why are they not allowed to send
a point. He's the one that's demanded that he be
moved when he has a year and a half on
his contract. I want you to know something. Do you
think putting him on the bench is good for the
team and his psyche? Did you see how many shots
he got today? By the way, I did not how
(19:10):
many eight? He averages more than twenty a game. In
thirty four minutes, he got eight shots. Now, something's not
right here, Something's not right, Aaron. This is not the
American way. I gotta tell you, I have the Commissioner
Silver should step in and say, you know what, I
don't care if the trading deadline is over, We're gonna
have We're gonna have a special case here if you
(19:30):
want to, Anthony Davis. He's now on the market, and
I don't want to hear anything about the Rose rule,
the Max rule, or any other damn rule. Everything's open, right.
They're already blacked one trade member with the Lakers, with
um Chris Paul, so that he could open it up
and get him out of there. This is not in
(19:50):
the best interest of the Pelicans, Anthony Davis or the NBA.
He needs to get out of there immediately. Well, that
was different with the Chris Paul deal because at that
time the Pelicans, which were the Hornets, had no owner
and the NBA was the owner. David David Stern as
the acting owner just said that's not good enough. So
(20:11):
it's a hundred percent different. This year. The owner said,
I don't really care what you want, Anthony Davis. You're
under contract and you have to do what I say.
And by the way, you said something really interesting? Are
you said, Okay, go ahead quick? Yeah? I complimented you.
That's why No, you said you said something The effect of,
they're trying to prove a point with Anthony Davis, and
(20:32):
maybe they are. Maybe they're telling their other guys, not
that any of them have the leverage that Anthony Davis does,
but hey, listen, we pay you guys a lot of money.
You guys are under contract. Do you played or we'll
stick it to you? Is that? What is that what
they're saying? Yeah, I think it could be. What's wrong
with that? What kind of message is that sending? It's
(20:52):
sending When you sign a contract, you have obligations like
this is the insane part to me. We just live
in this world where it's just okay. Like Anthony Davis
at some point did not have to sign a long
term contract in New Orleans. He did it because it
was gonna pay him a lot of money. Well, this
is part of the deal. When you get paid a
lot of money, you have a job to do. And
(21:13):
and by the way, I happen to think they've done
a terrible job building a team around him. But at
the same time, he knew what he was getting into.
This organization was dysfunctional when he got there. They had
a number one pick for a reason. They're still dysfunctional
to this day. Nobody made him sign this long term contract.
I mean, I mean, what what is better for the
Pelicans for Anthony Davis to come out and say that
(21:36):
he wants to be traded, or for him to shut up,
not say a word, play the next year and a
half and then leave, leave when his contracts up and
they get nothing for him. What what's the best thing
for for the Pelicans? The best thing for the Pelicans
is to trade him this offseason, like they're going to.
Oh so the best thing was for him to say something?
Then well yeah, I mean, oh so, wait a minute.
(21:58):
The best thing for the Halkins is exactly what he did,
and you're still gonna punish him. That makes no sense whatsoever.
No no, no, no, no, no no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
you're missing the point here. The point is no, he asked,
he asked for a trade, and he basically said, without
saying it, I'm really only gonna go to one team.
(22:19):
Like I know, he said, Oh, I'll go to the Knicks. Oh,
I'll go to the Bucks. We all know that neither
of those teams in their current situation has enough to
get him, and so he knew that, like like this
was so poorly planned out right, he demands a trade.
He thinks, oh, the Celtics can't trade for me, So
I'm not So that's not even in the equation. They're
(22:39):
gonna want to get something for me right now, when again,
I still have a year and a half on my deal.
And he just thought, oh, they're gonna send me the
next time. No, no, then they'll send me the Lakers
because it's the it's the best thing, because they can
offer the best package. Without realizing that this is not
like like they don't have to play by your rules
just because you want to be traded. Next time, he'll
shut up and then you'll get nothing. If you're the Pelicans,
(23:02):
you'll lose one of the best players in the NBA
and get nothing. We'll see how much the Pelican fans
and the Pelican team would like that about. In fact,
I'll bring that up. We're here with Jeff Van Gundi
had to say all that's coming up first though, Let's
check it with the secrecy. What's trending for the first time.
What's going on to Saga? I know he's coming up
and no, he was around two three. There we go
(23:25):
everything final in the NBA. The Late Game in college
Hoops has number four Gonzaga up seventy two thirty three
against St. Mary's and still twelve and a half minutes
left to the go. It's Gonzaga shooting over from the floor. St.
Mary's at twenty four percent more college hoops in a
minute first off. In the NBA Late Game, Milwaukee lost
at home to Orlando one oh three eight three. The
(23:46):
Bucks had won sixth straight, but Jana Setanna Compo, one
of the captains of the upcoming All Star Game, was
out tonight with the sore knee, and earlier Toronto one.
It's game, so the Raptors are just one game behind
Milwaukee for first place in the East. To please or,
Toronto was the winner at New York, which I thought
was your team one oh four ninety nine. The Knicks
(24:07):
have lost sixteen consecutive two huge comebacks. Tonight, the Clippers
were down twenty one early third quarter and still won
at Boston one one twelve. The Clips had been down
twenty eight in the second quarters, so this is their
biggest ever franchise comeback victory. And in the feature game
at Houston, Oklahoma City was down twenty six and still
(24:27):
beat the Rockets one seventeen to one twelve. Okay See
was down at halftime seventy to eight and still won
the game. Russell Westbrook a ninth straight triple double to
tie the NBA record of Wilt Chamberlain Paul George forty
five points. Indiana won its fifth straight game NBA All
Star Game a week from Sunday night in Charlotte and
college hoops. Number one Tennessee beat Florida Number two Duke
(24:49):
a winner at number three Virginia tonight eight one seventy one.
Kentucky and Nevada each one Michigan, as well overtime wins
for North Carolina and Florida State. Perdue got a victory
to Night Clemson upset numbers eleven, Virginia Tech fifty fifty
one and TC. You gotta win at number seventeen. Iowa
State ninety two to eighty three. Paul Casey leads Phil
(25:10):
Nicholson by three strokes at Pebble Beach. We'll be back
to the show in ten seconds. But first, a word
from farmers. From a dog accidentally flooding a living room
to a dog taking a joy ride, we've covered it.
Talk to farmers. We know a thing or two because
we've seen a thing or two. We are farmers under
written my farmers struck fire insurance exchanges and affiliates products
unavailable in every state. And yes, the new football league
(25:31):
started tonight, the Alliance of American Football Orlando and San
Antonio with victories. So there you go, Artie span your
in erin tors I'm a big Arizona hotshot fan. That's
my team. I want a chimpion. If I remember correctly,
they are the odds on favorites. That's why I heard
you say that. That's why I jumped on the bandwagon.
(25:52):
You were also the guy that bet the Lakers the
day of the NBA free agency because you were convinced
they were getting Kawhi Leonard and Paul Jelan. Wow, we're
coming to your live from the Geico Fox Sports Radio studios.
It's easy to say, fifty of more incur intrums with Geico.
Go to Geico dot com or call nine four seven auto.
And the only hard part, well, that's figuring out which
(26:13):
way is easier you can reach him and Aaron underscore Torres,
I'm instinking genius one. Obviously people know how to reach
you because um not, and I feel bad. Not only
am I just smacked you around with a two by four.
So are our listeners all over Twitter? They're smacking you around.
You know that? Don't you like? Who? Like? Like the one?
Dur answering, don't play stupid? Then we start with one
(26:34):
neck right thet me start with a straight no chaser.
Torres sounds like a clown. Now it's okay for teams
to be vindictive and take petty shots at the Star
This season is a winning message. The the who where Nie? Who? Wait?
When they finished? Just like the Calves that day Gilbert.
Players don't play, shut up and dribble. Go ahead, Arnie,
(26:56):
Yes have you heard of the Philadelphia seventy six? Yes?
I have. Where are they in the standings right now?
The fourth right for in fourth place, they're in position
to get home court advantage in the first round. And
they did that by tanking for many years to get
Joe l Embiid and Ben Simmons. What they did was
so wrong for for the wrongest for the longest time,
(27:17):
and it really when we put him in fourth place. Please,
there's a couple of more. Um. Of course Arnie is
right about Anthony David's situation. Of course it's awkward when
a player wants to leave. But what happens to professionalism?
We expect athletes act professional after being unexpectedly tore. Sounds
like a shell. Okay, so here's my here's Are you
(27:37):
okay enough for Jyka Daniel? I am great. I am
fantastic because I'm right about this and all the listeners
are wrong except for the one who just weighed in,
who is a correct His name is Dr feel Good.
Oh I like that. That's what I'm gonna call myself
on valenty this one, the problem was that that Davis
camp went public with the trade demand. Rich Paul and
(28:00):
the boys are so arrogant they thought the public pressure
leaks to the media would work. If the if they
demand the trade in private, it would have been done.
Rich Paul's because I asked you. I I went ahead
and I asked you. If you would have kept his
mouth shut, didn't say anything, played for the next year
and a half and walked away without the Pelicans getting anything,
then you really would have been upset, Arnie. So I'm
(28:21):
gonna tell you something I've been saying all week. You
know that, you know the second that the Pelicans decided
they were not going to trade Anthony Davis to the Lakers.
I can tell you the exact second what they were
never gonna do. It is what you're gonna tell me.
No the second remember that Friday night, it was right
around Christmas time, when Anthony Davis and the Pelicans played
(28:42):
at Staples Center. They asked Lebron James about playing with
a D, about Tamperin, he said, asked me about a D,
asked me about Kyrie, asked me about Ben Simmons. You
know what, Lebron, Lebron said. Lebron said, he goes, they
can't control what I say. Like, first of all, like
a little child one but two at that exact moment,
(29:04):
if you're the Pelicans, If if the star of the
Lakers is publicly talking about your best player while Anthony
Davis is on your team and you're the Pelicans, why
would you ever do anything to help that team? All right?
Ian maybe asks what about when reporters asked Kevin Durant, Kevin,
if you made a decision, are you coming back next year?
(29:25):
Do you want to sign with Golden State long term?
Or you're gonna leave after this year? What would you
like Kevin Durant to say to something like that? If
he if they said, what say it again? If Kevin,
are you going to sign long term with Golden State?
Or are you going to leave after this year? If? If?
What what is the bigger First of all, I actually
(29:45):
I actually defend Kevin Durant because there's only so many
ways that he can say that, I'm gonna check all
my options. But what do you want him? He can't
answer the question, Kenny, is my point. I mean, he
could answer it, but he can't because if he says
he's leaving, then they could bench him like they're doing.
They have that Davis, They're not gonna bench him. It's
different scenarios, aren't. You can't just compare apples to apples.
(30:05):
It's they have nothing to do with each other. You know.
Sometimes you could have fruit salad. You could compare apples
to oranges. Nothing and don't always have to be apples
to apples. Make it a fruit salad every once in
a while. Torres, It makes no sense because the Warriors
are trying to win a championship. They don't care about
is Katie going to be here this year? Next year?
(30:25):
The Pelicans are in a completely different scenarios with them
no good to win this year. Suppose it was before
the trading deadline they said, we don't want to get
Kevin Durant hurt because we can get a lot for him.
Now we're gonna put them on the bench. You'd be
okay with that. I would think that it's idiotic. They're
not trying to win games when they're the favorite to
win the championship. They can win without Kevin Durant. They think,
(30:46):
who thinks they say they won without Kevin Durant and
they not? Or am I making that up? To they did,
and then they lost in the finals and they had
to go get Kevin Durant. Oh my goodness, Aaron underscore Torres,
I'm it stinking genius. So on, Arnie, we're not okay,
go ahead. I want to ask you because I think
that what happened with the Lakers on Thursday night against
(31:08):
the Celtics, I think opened up a whole new Pandora's box.
Do you think that the trade that they offered all
those guys if they keep winning, because they looked pretty
good on Thursday night, if they winning, is that trade
still on the table in the summertime, or do they say,
wait a second, now, we were in fourth place before
(31:30):
Lebron got hurt. We were actually a pretty good team.
He goes down, we fall apart. If they get hot
again and they sneak into the playoffs and these guys
start playing good, do you think that the Lakers start
to reel back in and say, now, wait a second,
maybe we should hold onto a couple of these guys
and not trade our entire team for one player. Wow,
now I really feel bad. Obviously, we've been hitting you
(31:51):
with too many two by four's. We've hitched in the
head too many times, you're out of your mind? What
do you think? Of course, like make the trade? You're
gonna make me stop a trade based on twenties something games?
When I've seen what this guy could do for seven years?
What's wrong with you? Okay? For what you've seen for
seven years is one playoff series win and a guy
who has ever played eight two games, never played eight guys,
(32:15):
and now you're gonna pair him with Lebron, without Kyle Kuzma,
without a Lonzo Ball, without Brandon replaced those guys with
Obviously they're not very good because the Pelicans didn't want
those guys. The Pelicans didn't want to make a trade
with Lebron. That's that's the bottom line. They didn't want Hey,
this isn't petty stuff. I don't want to make a
(32:35):
trade with the Lakers. You do what's best for your
team and your fans. And at that point, that was
what's best for your team and your fans. Say that again,
that was was best for their team and their fans
was to make the trade with the Lakers, because let
me tell you, how do you know that? How do
you know that? I? You know? That's that's why I
get paid. That's why I get paid the big bucks.
(32:57):
That's That's the first thing. I've heard this argument all week.
This was the best trade they could possibly get, Arnie.
Do you remember when Paul George got traded from Indiana
and everyone said, oh, brandon Ingram, that's the best piece
you're gonna get in a trade. Then they got Victor Oladipo,
who's an All Star. Remember why Kawai Leonard got wanted
to get trade in and oh, you can't get better
than Brandon Ingram and Kuzma. They got DeMar de Rosen,
(33:19):
a star. Did you see what? Did you see what
the Celtics gave up to get Kyrie? They should be arrested.
What what they gave up? You never get full value
when you trade for a for a superstar. Whatever do
you think you're gonna get full value? Now? I would
argue Indiana, I would I would argue the Pacers absolutely.
I would say the Pacers maybe even one that trade? Okay,
(33:41):
one trade out of how many for a superstar? Where
are the Spurs in the standings? And by the way,
you think you're gonna win a trade with the Celtics,
that's not gonna happen. With Danny. I think that we
don't know what the market is because this is another
thing that's driving me. Daddy age is not giving your
Tatum because it's gonna be a rental. That's not happening. Well,
(34:01):
my whole thing is everyone says like, oh, that's the
best trade you're gonna get. How do we know? Like
I said, the Raptors weren't even considered as a Kauai
front owner. They get them. The Pacers weren't even considered
a front runner for Paul George. They get them. So
who's to know who's gonna have what and who's gonna
offer what in the summer. What's the best deal they
can get? I'll tell you when we get back. Plus
what they'd some of the late games. All that's covering
(34:23):
up next here on Fox Sports or radio. From a
hot air balloon landing on a car to a load
of concrete falling on one, we've covered it. Talked to farmers,
we know a thing or two because we've seen a
thing or two. We are farmers under written my Farmers
truck fire insurance exchanges and affiliates products unavailable in every state. Alright, Arizona,
(34:46):
stay with a fifty lead over Washington under seven minutes
left in that one. I watched a lot of Pack
twelve today, also saw that Duke Virginia game. Um My Wildcat, Slaus,
We're not gonna make the tournament. We stink, We're not
a good team. We're horrible to as. I'm upset. I'm
salty about that. Are you excited about the lukewallon are
at Arizona? Because I don't think he's I don't think
Sean Miller is gonna make it through another year man,
(35:08):
with all these assistance getting fired, and I'm not sure
how that's going to end out for him. I don't
think he's gonna gonna get fired because of the year
that we're having, because we do have a great recruiting
class coming in next year. But um it is getting ugly.
I still don't know who um it is supposed to
get in trouble because of the scandals and which coaches
(35:30):
don't get in trouble, you know what I mean. Well,
I don't know how much longer Sean Miller can avoid
trouble when he now has two assistant coaches fired for
breaking NCA rules. One of them, of course, broke federal
crimes and a third one was also named in this
investigation and they just don't haven't brought out any proof yet.
What are you gonna blame me now too? Is that
(35:50):
what you're gonna do for your terrible Anthony Davis takes?
We're getting a lot on twitter. Uh, go get him.
You're absolutely right already. The Anthony Davis just played the
rest of his contract, shut his mouth and just said
blank you without saying a thing. Torres would be all
over the radio saying he should have said something, and
you exactly you'd be saying that if you would ahead
kept his mouth shut, played and then walked away from
(36:12):
them and they got nothing. Uh, the fans would be
livided him right now. Well, listen, there's the thing is
is that this has happened before where a guy is
coming up on the end of his contract and the
team and him have a very real conversation about, Hey,
what's the deal? Is this going to happen or is
it not? It happened with Carmelo Anthony and his last
year in Denver. It happened with Paul George when he
(36:34):
was in Indianapolis or in Indiana excuse me. So it's
like It's not as though Anthony Davis would have lied
to them and said, hey, I'm definitively coming back and
then on free so he wouldn't have answered. He would
have just done with Kevin Durant, kept it to himself outside,
and they would have been all out with nothing. Then. Well,
Kevin Durant signed a bunch of one year deals, though,
I mean it's kind of understood that he's keeping his
(36:56):
options open. Anthony Davis at some point signed a long
term deal and committed to this organization long This guy's
played what six yet was this the seventh year? Six year? Whatever?
Was six? Plush years? Been a model guide, no problems,
played great basketball. Now you're gonna jumped down his throat
because he's tired of waiting the wind down there. He
gave you as many years as he could. What's going on?
(37:16):
I don't know to stay there. I feel like he's
getting bullied into staying down there, were bullied by the
fans down there. I just don't like this erin well,
I'll tell you I'm with you, and the fact that
I don't really disagree with him just saying hey, I
need a fresh start. Um. But I also think that
the way that I listen, I think the big loser
(37:37):
this week it wasn't Anthony Davis. I think it was
Rich Paul, his agent, and I think it was Lebron
because I think they thought that they could strong arm
the Pelicans into trading Anthony Davis to the Lakers. And
I do agree with you, by the way, if he
had just said I want to trade and there hadn't
been all these tampering rumors, and not even rumors like
actual tampering, I think the Pelicans would have been more
(38:00):
are willing to help. But I can't blame the Pelicans
for saying Lebron has been talking about this guy publicly
for the last six months. I'm not gonna do anything
to help him, especially, by the way, when I don't
know what kind of what kind of deal I can
get in the summer, when the Celtics are gonna have
you know they're gonna be able to make this trade
that Nicks might have the number one pick in the draft.
(38:21):
I also don't blame the Pelicans for wanting to wait
to see what else is out there. Jeff Van Gundy
spoke on the situation. Here's what Van Gundy said. I
think it was earlier today, actually yesterday. Here's what Van
Gundy had to say. I think they're owner Gayl Benson
has missed out on an opportunity to take a stand
for her team and for all small market teams in
(38:42):
the NBA. Anthony Davis, one of the five best players
in the NBA, publicly demanded a trade, and now the
n b A is trying to bully her and threaten
her with unduly harsh fines. And if I was her,
I would say I'll pay the fine. But at the
end of the day, I'm gonna do what's best for
my franchise. I'm not gonna put him out there at
(39:04):
risk for injury and reduce my lottery chances or my
trade opportunities. I think the league is wrong. I think
they should allow New Orleans to do exactly what is
best for them, because everybody else is doing what's best
for themselves. Anthony Davis and the league let the Pelicans
do what's best for them except for the obvious. I
(39:26):
disagree with Van Gundy when he's saying stand up for
all small market teams. It's not like people wide up
around the block to go to the Clippers. People aren't
wide up around the block to go to the Sun's
the Dallas Mavericks. Um, you know the Brookwood Nets and
those are large market teams. Aaron, So let me ask you,
so you seem really frustrated with the Pelicans. What your
anger really is is with Adam Silver. It should be
(39:48):
with Adam Silver, because not at all why the Pelicans
wanted to sit him and aunt and Adam Silver said,
you're not allowed to do that. You know this new rule.
I don't think they should be allowed to do that.
But you're complaining because they're not because they're playing him.
They want to. I never complained that they were playing him.
Yes you are. You're saying that they're toying with him.
They play him a little bit. They don't play him
(40:09):
a lot. We can okay, well, no, no, no no, okay. Look,
let's everybody take a deep breath. I need one. Everybody
take a deep breath. Hour one in the books. I
don't know where the hour went. Double check the time.
I think they're ripping us off on the time, and
we may take another hour down on the back into
the show. We worked more than Anthony Davis. This week's unbelievable.
I think the rushing us our one in the books
(40:30):
will come back reset. I want to get into the
Lakers and Lebron Vegas Runner next hour. All that right
here on Fox Sports Radio. Oh right, everybody, Good evenings.
We're coming to you live from the Geico Fox Sports
Radio studios. Did you know that fifteen minutes could save
you fifteen percent of more in car insurance? What do
you have to do? Visit Geico dot com for free
(40:51):
rate quote. Great Saturday night Here ninth day of February,
Aaron underscore tour as I'm a stinking genius one. We're
also given Torres a little bit of Valentine's Day advice
since it is his first Valentine's Day since getting engaged, um,
which is a big one. He doesn't understand that. Let
me give you some advice, Aaron, maybe five or ten
(41:15):
years down the road. Which is what I do every
Valentine's Day. Okay, this is what I and I know
it's only Saturday, but I have to work on this
all week long. As the week starts, getting there a
not feeling good. Then when Thursday comes around, oh you know,
(41:38):
the full cough not feeling good? She say, oh no, no,
no, no no, let's not go out tonight. Let's let's go
Friday to celebrate. Meanwhile, Friday, everything's half price because Thursdays
when they rip you off. So Fridays when you get
the half price this that in the dinner and you
don't have to pay full price for it. What do
you think about that? That's what our producer Vince just
(41:58):
told me during our break. He's he got married on
January onet because everything was discount because it was New
Year's Eve, right, Oh that's genior New Year's Day. Yeah no, no,
everything was everything was like, everything was slashed because it
was the day after year. It was the first day
of the year. Slash hig prices slash hick. Now now
now like that, but get married on a Wednesday. You know,
(42:22):
I actually did really screw this up. I was talking
to Ryan about this a little bit. My wedding day
will actually be the day before my birthday. So I'm
getting married July five. My birthday is July six, So
I feel like she's gonna package wait a bit of
way to wait. What your birthday is never getting celebrated again? Wait? Wait, wait,
what are you getting married July six? Yeah? No, no,
(42:44):
that's not going to work. I'm sorry deposits being put down. No, no, no, no,
that's not going to work. First of all, that July July,
I'm not so sure. You know, that's a good month
to get married. I would I would think, I'd think
more like August is a good month. You know. No,
I don't know why I got married in September, you know,
(43:04):
right before the start of the NFL season. August is better.
You go through the summer, you have a little bit
more time to plan. Why would you want to go
ahead and get married on the fourth of July weekend?
That's a party weekend. You don't want to You don't
want to go and ruin your party weekend, do you one,
That's exactly why I want to get married. It's a
party weekend too. Not to nerd out here, but I
have a lot of know I have a lot of
(43:26):
family traveling from the East Coast. It's a long weekend.
I think about other Unlike you, who's a narcissist, aren't
I think of other people. I thought it might be
nice for my family who's traveling that they don't have
to rush out and rush back. They can hang out
for a few days. Let me while you're on with family.
Let me tell you something, Okay, I wish my mother
in law did not spend the money she spent on
(43:49):
my wedding. I wish you would have just given us
the money and we would have just eloped. What a
waste of money. Don't worry. Look, don't worry about the
relatives of the friends. Worry about you and your wife,
you know, don't worry about spending a lot of money.
For crying out loud, listen, if it was up to me, see,
I will say, you know, I know, you think I'm
just totally naive to this process. You are, young man, Well,
(44:13):
I understand that I really have no say in most
of these is true, you really have zero say. And
so this is the wedding that she wants, this is
the venue. So I'm just along for the ride. But exactly.
But at this point it's a little late for me
to say, Hey, let's just a lope. I don't think
that's gonna work out too long. Make sure you know, well, well,
everybody else is having fun, because really your wedding is
(44:35):
for everybody else. But you just have a plate of
oar durvs and sit in your room and watch a
little TV. That's all I did, really, to be honest
with you on your wedding night, No, before the wedding,
Before the wedding, yeah, I mean everybody was like having fun,
and you know I wasn't allowed to drink. You can't
get drunk and go up there and get married, going
I do. We can't do that. Cat you that is
(44:58):
something seen something but you see stuthing like that though
I've had uh of course, yeah, no, that's uh, that's
um what I told my my my fiance. Her one
rule is like you honey. So I actually have a
funny story for you. So I was filling in a
couple of nights ago with Jason Smith without me for
(45:18):
Mike Harmon. And as we all know, Mike Harmon is
what what is Mike Harmon for Jason Smith? Arnie his
best friend, his best friend friend. And so I asked
Jason Smith, I said, so where do I Where am
I in the pecking order of your best friends? And
he said, well, Mike harm is my best friend. And
then I think it was Bill Plashki, who's a regularly
(45:40):
guest on their show. He said, Bill Plashki's number two.
He said, so you could be number three, and I said,
that's great. I said, because it's like being a groomsman
at the wedding. Right, If you're at a wedding, the
groom obviously has a lot of responsibility. Can't be a
drunk idiot up there, given you know your vows. I do,
And the best man can't be drunk because he's got
to give us each and he's gotta do whatever. But
(46:01):
it could be a little bit of drunk. Well yeah,
but the third guy just gets to hang out and
party and talk to the guys maid. So so I'm
Jason Smith's third best friend. What a what a spot
to be? That's great. Yeah, get to hit on all
the girls that that that's not a bad spot to be.
And I do have to give you that. If you
want to reach Torres with advice, Aaron underscore Torres, I'm
a stinking genius one. Or you can get in eight
(46:23):
seven seven ninety nine on Fix eight seven seven s
six nine, our first show without NFL football, though we
did have a a f football Get to that a
little bit later on. You seem to be upset with
the Lakers and lebron because you think that they're strongholding
the Belicans in the making a move. But if the
Lakers want him and he wants to go there, wouldn't
it be better for the Lakers to give up pieces
(46:45):
for him to go there instead of waiting from the
become a free agent and go there and not give
up any pieces and the Pelicans walking away with nothing. No,
I agree with you on that. It makes sense for
the Lakers. Now. I think you give up so much.
I don't know how you fell out the roster. What
I was saying last hour, though, I don't know why
it made so much sense for the Pelicans. There's no
(47:06):
you just don't know, right what if the what if
the Celtics get to the Eastern Conference Finals they don't
get through again, Kyrie threatens to leave if you don't
get it, like like you just don't hear what happened
in six months. But he's already made his point. He
his point was, and we all know he wants to
go to the Lakers. He doesn't want to go to Boston,
he doesn't want to go to any of those He
(47:28):
said he'd go to Milwaukee, said he'd go to New York,
he said he'd go to the Clippers. A lot of
places he's not going to go ahead and sign a
long term deal. Anybody that would trade for him can't
take the chance that he's going to leave after a year.
So they're never going to give you a full value.
Why the Lakers, because if if the Raptors, the Raptors
don't have any guarantee on Kawhi Leonard they traded for him.
Oh they did was give up the Rosen That's an
(47:50):
All Star. Everybody's an All Star. Now, this isn't the
NFL with the Pro Bowl, where literally everyone in the
league is an All Star. No, I mean, you just
don't know. And by the way, Anthony Davis says he
wouldn't resign if he gets there With Kyrie, Let's just say, hypothetically,
the Celtics do trade for Anthony Davis. Are you talking
about Are you talking about Kyrie who got hurt today?
(48:11):
By the way, I who hurt his knee and that
to leave the game in the second quarter and did
not return. But go ahead, I'm just saying, what if
he gets there and they get to the finals? What
if he gets there? By the way, Kevin Durant is
no longer in Golden State next season, as we've discussed
a little bit and they win the championship. He's really
gonna walk away for the Lakers. By the way, I'll
say this for the Lakers, I think the reason that
(48:33):
they pushed all their chips in the middle is because
they're afraid it's gonna be Paul George two point oh.
Is They're gonna let him go somewhere else. They're gonna say, no,
We'll wait till he gets to be a free agent,
and then he ends up sticking where he ends up.
Wait a minute, how could you blame the you know,
all the people involved with Lebron and the Lakers and
all that. If if you think that he ends up,
it may go somewhere else, if he plays somewhere else
(48:54):
for one year that he wasn't tied into the Lakers
as much as everybody thought he was. I blame Lebron
because he was publicly tampering with with Anthony Davis four
months at a time and the Pelicans, which are allowed
to do because I've seen pictures of everybody getting on
the banana ball together. But go ahead, yeah, no wad Yeah,
(49:15):
that banana boat's gonna sink if Carmelo gets on. He's
so overweight, But um no, I mean, I think, look,
it's one thing if Anthony Davis, like you said, he
just demands to trade whatever, But it was so clearly orchestrated.
Lebron very publicly talked about Anthony Davis, and if you're
the Pelicans one, you just don't have to trade him
(49:37):
now because you don't know what's gonna be available in
the summer. And to why do you want to help Lebron?
I think this was all about not helping the Lakers. Well,
first of all, I think that was ridiculous. The rumor
or you know, I guess the rumor is that the
Pelicans never intended on trading Anthony Davis to the Lakers.
Think they wanted They just wanted to make them look
stupider or embarrassed them. I think that's ridiculous. Why the
(50:00):
Pelicans really did that, shame on that. Why I think
it's ridiculous that the Lakers are publicly talking about another
team's players when they're under contract. But he's allowed to
he's a player. It wasn't just him. We've heard Magic
got busted for tampering, but I'm not talking about Magic.
You're you're talking about Lebron. Lebron has nothing to do
with this. Lebron is allowed to talk about any player
(50:22):
he wants. Listen, I'll tell you this. I use this
analogy with Ryan in the break. Let's say you go
out to a bar with your your lovely wife. What
is her name, Debbie? Debbie's no, what's it? What's her name?
Tricks Tricksie? Okay, what's okay? So you go out with
Tricksie to the bar. Some hot shot comes over and
(50:44):
starts hitting on it. Right, your blood gets boiled, you
get so mad. Six months down the road, tricks He
comes to you, she says, She says, Arnie, one, my
name is Tricksy. But two, I want a divorce. And
when guy that was hitting on your lady finds out
that she wants a divorce, he hits you up and says, hey,
(51:05):
can I get her number? Just because your wife wants
a divorce doesn't mean you have to give that guy
her number. And that's exactly what the Pelicans just went through.
Lebron has been hitting on Anthony Davis publicly, and the
Pelicans are saying, you know what, this divorce is gonna happen,
But I don't have to help the two of you
to get together, Anthony Davis and the Lakers. But what
you don't understand is they're getting together at the All
(51:27):
Star Game. And what do you think Lebron is not
gonna talk to Anthony Davis when they're in the locker room,
Like they haven't sucked anyway on the phone, of course,
Like even if they interviewed him, and let's say the
interview Lebron at halftime and he said, yeah, we're looking
good out there. Look at Anthony Davis. Man, he is unbelievable.
Has twenty points at halftime? Man, can this guy is
(51:48):
so good? I I couldn't imagine the team not waiting
with this guy. He could say all that if he
wants to, and there's nothing you could do about it.
Absolutely not. But well, there is one thing on TV
if he did that, well, there is one thing you
can do about it. If you're the Pelicans, you can
just make sure that Anthony Davis doesn't go to the Lakers.
You have no choice in that, because now Anthony Davis
will stay the year and a half. You want to
(52:09):
bench jam all next year. You want to see what
that's gonna do for you. You want to stay that's
going to work out. They're going to trade him. At
the course, they'll trade him, so they'll have him for
another half a year. Congratulations. We'll see how the we'll
see how the fans are gonna like that, and how
that's gonna be a black guy in your on your
team real quick, let me ask you a question. If
the Celtics offered a package that included Jayson Tatum, would
(52:32):
you say that it was better than what the Lakers
just offered. Yeah, but I couldn't imagine they would do that,
only only because that he's only a rental right now.
But how do you know. I mean, the Celtics are
ok because they have no guarantee that he wouldn't be
just the rental. But the Raptors had no guarantee that
Kauai was the rental, and they traded an All star form. Well,
they gave up the Rose in which they were happy
to do with because they said, we'll clear the money
(52:54):
and we'll see if we have a good chance to
keep it him here. Yeah, and I think the Celtics
will do the same because, like I said, if you
take that chance by giving up Tatum, you think that's
worth it. I think that if Kyrie resigns with the
Celtics and Anthony Davis gets traded to the Celtics, Antony reason,
I don't know you blank. Speaking of marriages, you hear
what Danny Ainge said the other day about Kyrie, Yes,
I did. He said, right now, we're engaged. We'll get
(53:16):
married July one. I'm not so sure. I think Kyrie
is starting to get cold feet. Kyrie is a nutjob too, man.
Can I know? We gotta get to break. I have
a big Kyrie Kevin Durant thing I want to share
with you. I'll tell you what saving saving I want
to get the Vegas Runner. He's gonna be joining us
next erand on the score, Torres, I'm at stinking genius
one Vegas Runner next right here on Fox Sports or Radio.
(53:39):
From a car landing on a roof to a car
landing in the pool, we've covered it. Talk to farmers.
We know a thing or two because we've seen a
thing or two. We are farmers under written my Farmers
truck Fire Insurance Exchange and affiliates products unavailable in every state. Alright,
Aaron Torres, Arnie Span, you're right here on Fox Sports Radio.
By the way. Great news is a quick way you
(54:01):
could save money to switch the Geico. It only takes
fifteen minutes. As see if you could say fifteen percent
or more in car insurance. Just go to Geico dot
com and see how much you can save. Let's go
ahead and get to our guests joining us now. You
can check about at the Big Moves dot com. That's
the Big Moves dot com. Or you can tweet him
at Greek Underscore Gambler. That is Greek Underscore Gambler. It's
(54:21):
Vegas Runner. How you doing, Vegas Runner? Never better? Aren't
he about a week removed from the super Bowl? This
is usually the slow week for Vegas books. You know,
people are hungover after the super Bowl. But there was
plenty to go around. He had college basketball NBA daytona
fine hunter at Tomorrow USC tonight, so there was plenty
at the sports books. But there's always that law in
(54:45):
between the Super Bowl and the conference tournaments. Once we
get that those conference tournaments, everyone starts getting into that
March madness, uh fever and uh then sports books get
busy again. So it's a little slow. No one's complaining,
and they they made a profit for the Super Bowl. Well,
let me let me start with that. Then the big gambler,
(55:05):
as you heard about that gambler X, who bet like
a couple of million dollars. All the big gamblers seemed
to have bet on the rams. I don't know if
anybody was betting in the five to ten million dollar
range on the Patriots. Am I right on that or wrong? No,
you're right now. I mean that that's not a surprise. Um,
the late money was going to come in on the rams,
So most of the the big bets, if they hadn't
(55:29):
come in, they were expected to come in on the
rams because the Patriots money came in early. But with
that said on it, even though in the state of
Nevada we did well with that outcome, if you look
at like New Jersey, Um, those books lost. I mean
they booked thirty five millions and lost four and a half,
so they lost over ten percent based on their handle.
(55:52):
And if you look at their hold for the year,
they did great. They booked a billion dollars in bets
and turned the profit of seventy two million in their
first six months. So that's a hold of like seven
with the built in edge is usually around you know,
obviously it is four and a half percent, So books
usually make around that five percent. Hold anything above that
(56:14):
is a good six months or a good year. So
Jersey had a good six months. But you saw the
outcome with the Patriots winning costs them money that those
books you know, didn't come out ahead. Um, and the
game staying on there probably saved them more what it
turned out worse. But here in the bad again they
did well. And when you get that much volume, you know,
(56:36):
hundred over a hundred million dollars being bet, it's hard
to lose because again, when you have a built in
edge on every dollar that's bet, it's hard to lose,
you know, especially when you're getting good balance there towards
the end. All right, the question everyone in America wants
to know, give us your craziest a a f betting story.
(56:57):
So far, Vegas runner, at what I can tell you
is this that that the sharp's got them wrong today. Um,
of course, And yet they moved. They bet Atlanta, They
dummy Orlando up to that key number of seven, seven
and a half. They took Atlanta and over they lost
(57:19):
both the side in the total. They also took San
Diego plus three plus two and a half and the
over in that game to never take the over on
San Diego. Everybody knows that the four and yet you solved.
I mean the totals moved four points. Um So, yeah,
they're definitely the books moved based on that sharp money.
(57:40):
But the outcome was not good for them, but a
good outcome for the books, that's for sure. Well, gambling,
since you just mentioned that there was some money on
the a f well gambling make that league successful for sure. Absolutely,
as long as they put if they keep putting off
points spreads and they put them on pine time televised
gay games, there's gonna be action. It's football, Arnie. There's
(58:04):
names people are familiar with, even though they're not familiar
with the teams. And as long as you could bet,
and and they're playing it the same way, you see,
the scoring is the same. You know, the totals pretty
much line up with your normal NFL game. I mean,
it's not much of a switch. It's not like arena
football where there's such changes. Um So, I think if
(58:26):
they put up a point spread like I said, and
get people televised games to bet, especially during the slow
time now granted during March madness, I doubt it's gonna
get much betting action. And then with the start of baseball,
there's also excitement for baseball. But after baseball's first month,
it's really open season until the NBA playoffs. So if
(58:48):
they could capitalize and really focus on the betting market
right after that March madness and before the NBA playoffs,
there's about, you know, that six weeks space where they
could really make a mark and get you know, fans
behind them and get people betting. If you build a
Betton fan base behind the sport, it grows quickly. So
(59:08):
how did sharp betters like decide what was hot and
what was not? I mean, obviously there's some names people know,
but I mean where were where were they getting their
information and what information did they value because we literally
knew nothing anything to do with these leagues, this team, etcetera. Yeah,
I mean listen, they the way these guys do it,
unless they're getting some kind of other information um as
(59:33):
season progresses or injuries in those kind of things. It's
it's based freckly on power ratings and the way they
power rate these teams are the same way they power
rate every other team. They I mean, they've never seen
a freshman in college play yet either except in high school.
And yet they're going to power rate them and give
him a number. And they do that pretty well. And
(59:55):
as the season progresses, rest as short, they will sharpen
those numbers ump and they'll get very good at it.
And I fought with the w n B A within
three weeks of the w NBA starting, and no book
wanted to book it. I mean, the guys crushed it.
They went on a tear for like the first two
or three years until the yuncemakers really caught up with
(01:00:17):
the game. I mean that the betting sand gets got
out ahead of it, and I wouldn't be surprised if
they did so. Here if the limits are are large
enough for them to get involved, that's the only question.
Because if there's low limits, these guys don't get involved,
they're not going to put in the work and not
be able to get down. And that's going to be
the question. How much are books well in the book
(01:00:39):
on this kind of games? Vegas? I want to wrap
up the Super Bowl. Uh, you heard about all these
long shots that we're hitting people betting that the Rams
would score just three points or that there'd be no
touchdowns in the game, which he just missed out on that.
Do you know anybody I saw one person wouldn't like
a hundred thousand dollars And that's a beautiful thing. And
(01:01:00):
it happens, you know in a lot of the Super
Bowls where it happened when the safety score, the first
score was a safety in that I think Seattle Denver
Super Bowl was it. Um So when the first time
Brady passing, When when a long shot prop like that
comes in, it's you're gonna hear about it, and it's
(01:01:21):
importantly someone's gonna have a ticket because remember, you know,
billions of dollars are being bet on this game. Every
single prop, I mean, just out of randomness, someone's going
to take a shot on a hundred the one prop
for five dollars, ten dollars. You see it all the time.
Like I said, I've been here twenty plus Super Bowls
and I see people in line all the time. They'll
(01:01:42):
have a hundred dollars and they'll play five dollar props
and they'll only play the promps that are like fifty
two one or higher. And that's how they're enjoyed the game.
And they'll wait for crazy things to happen, and if
it doesn't, add they blew a hundred bucks. But if
it does, they make a nice score like this one,
and you see that it doesn't cost the books much. Um.
When that happens, they're they're happy to advertise it because again,
(01:02:06):
if they're paying you out a hundred the one, the
true odds are probably closer to five hundred the one.
I want to switch gears to college hoops really quick.
There was a kind of a crazy game today. U
c l A was up four oh yeah, yeah, fourteen
points with like four minutes to go. I think ESPN
is kind of win probability. They were like eight percent
to I think it was actually nine plus percent to win.
(01:02:29):
Did you hear any crazy stories or were you in
the sports book when that one went down? Because it
was a wild finish. Yeah it was, And I wasn't
that game. It was the sign that mattered. The total
had already been decided, and that total got steamed up
from the one sixty two and a half mood seven
and a half points and it flew over. A hundred
(01:02:49):
eighty five points were scored. Um. But like you said,
the money was on the U c l A side.
As well, and for you too to do it. I
mean they had to score sixty one points in in
that second half, which you're defying probability, so obviously, um,
it's not gonna happen too often. But yeah, that wasn't
a bad result for the book that much, I can
(01:03:10):
tell you, because they were getting U c. L A money.
A couple of spots had that game go up at
minus five, it had opened it four unbelievable. You get
ahold of the the Vegas Runner at the Big Moves dot Com.
That's the Big Moves dot Com. You could tweet him
at Greek Underscore gamb where that's Greek Underscore Gambler. Have
a great weekend. My friend will catch up with you
next week. Thanks any, thanks sound thanks for having me. Guys,
(01:03:32):
enjoy the games. There you go, Vegas Runner, joining joining us?
Where from where else? Las Vegas? I man, do I
want to be out there for March Madness? But since
my team isn't gonna be in it? What at my
Arizona Wildcats? Your team is team right side of the bet.
That's the only thing. Let's go, Hey man, there's always
the n I T I hate you guys. Let's check
(01:03:54):
in with the saga. See what's trending? What's going on?
Even the undefeated team Impact twelve fly lost tonight, Washington
have to Washington State. That's the worst team in the
PAC twelve. In the Washington State did be the Arizona State.
I'm embarrassed, one of the worst teams. Washington lost at
Arizona State seventy sixty three in the late game. By
the way, Washington had been ten and oh in conference.
(01:04:15):
And yes, it is possible that only Washington from the
PAC twelve gets into March Mantis. Well, what happened to
my conference? What happened? Agreed? U c l A. You
mentioned with that loss, gagging that game, they're five and
six in conference play. U c l A twelve and
twelve overall, cows at the bottom. They're winless conference. The
(01:04:35):
late game was Number four Gainzaga whipping St. Mary's ninety
four to forty six. Zags twenty three and two. This year. St.
Mary's got twenty cent from the floor, including one of
thirteen from three point range. Number two Duke one at
number three, Virginia one seventy one, Number one rank Tennessee
one again beating Florida seventy three sixty one overtime victories
(01:04:55):
for North Carolina and Florida. In the NBA two huge comebacks.
Clip Beers were down twenty eight in the second quarter
and still one at Boston one one twelve. Kyrie Irving
left early with a spray knee. Oklahoma City came from
twenty six points down to win at Houston one seventeen
one twelve. Russell Westbrook a ninth straight triple double, tying
(01:05:16):
the league record. Toronto sent New York to a sixteenth
straight loss one oh four ninety nine, and the Raptors
are now one game behind Milwaukee for first in the East.
The Box lost at home one oh three eighty three
to Orlando as soul star Janis attendant Coopo was out
with a sorenee. Tonight fourteen n h L games, including St.
Louis beating Nashville three two Today. NASCAR's clash at Daytona
(01:05:37):
is tomorrow on FS one three pm Eastern time. The
dual races are Thursday night on FS one. Paul Casey
leads Phil Mickelson by three strokes at Pebble Beach. Casey
shot a third round sixty seven. Jordan's speech shot seventy four,
fell to a tie for eighteen and at UFC two
thirty four in Melbourne, it's over middleweight champ Robert Whittaker
did not fight tonight out due to surgery impending for
(01:06:00):
and abdonimal Hernia and so Anderson Silver was the feature about.
He lost by unanimous decision in a three round fight
against Israel Asanya. The show returns in ten seconds, but
first still word from farmers. From a dog accidentally flooding
a living room to a dog taking a joy ride,
we've covered it. Talk to farmers. We know a thing
or two. Because we've seen a thing or two. We
(01:06:20):
are farmers under written my farmers truck fire Insurance Exchange
ALIS products unavailable in every state. Arnie span your Aeron
torres back to you, all right, thanks a lot to
sag Aeron Tours. That's Aaron Underscore Tours. I'm at Stinking
Genius one as we're coming to you live from the
Geico Fox Sports Radio studios. Remember now, it's easy to
say fifteen percent more in cor insurance with Geico. Just
(01:06:42):
go to Geico dot com or give them a call
one eight nine four seven auto. Uh. The only hard
part well that's figuring out which way is easier, by
the way are and I feel like less and less
people are. We're paying less and less attention to college
basketball as we get to March Madness, because it's really
only abou March Madness. We used to get all pumped
up about conference play and and you know, conference championship
(01:07:05):
not not really anymore. It's just all about the n
c Double A tournament. Yeah, and you know, I love
college hoops, but you know, I think part of it is,
first of all, I was talking to uh. I think
it was Jason Smith this week. I guess the Super
Bowl used to be a little bit earlier, which gave
college hoops all of February. But I also think the NBA,
the trade deadline and the off the court narrative just
(01:07:27):
took a week that would have been for college basketball,
you know, I mean, you know, this week would have
been a little bit about NFL post recap and then
you get into college basketball. But we have this crazy
Anthony Davis story that you know, two weeks after he
demanded a trade, three or four days now after the
trade deadline ended, we're still talking about it. There's new
wrinkles every day, That's the insane thing to me, Arnie,
(01:07:49):
is that since that trade demand started, it feels like
every single day there's a new twist and turn to it. No,
you're right, maybe we're paying a lot more attention to
that though. Um all we hear about how college basketball
is and the Pact twelve is only going to have
one team, and uh, maybe it's time that we gave
the mid majors a lot more chances. I think there's
a great year for the mid majors to get a lot,
(01:08:09):
a lot more teams in than usual. Yeah, I hope so.
And I mean, obviously I know that Fox here has
the Big East, and usually the Big East is a
really good conference. But you get past Marquette and Villanova,
who actually played today. Um, you know, there's a lot
of teams that are struggling right now. So I do hope.
You know, it's funny. I know the head coach at
Nevada really well, Eric Musselman, and I've talked to him
about this. Is we remember loyal as Chicago, we remember Nevada.
(01:08:34):
You know, you don't remember who else, like who else
was in the final four last year? Obviously Villanova, but
a lot of people don't remember. You do remember the
Loyalist Chicago. So I hope more of those small schools
get in. Yeah, I would like to see it. I'm
curious to see if the Pact twelve will be a
one and Donne and it looks that way unless the
other team get somebody winning the conference championship. You know,
I live out here in Vermont. Watch out from my
(01:08:55):
Vermont Kadamounts. There, my friend, they're really good again. Huh yeah,
they are really good again. They've been good for about
three years. Wow. Wow, really first place in their league.
You know, my Harford Hawks were supposed to be good
this year. What happened to them? That didn't? Didn't quite
happen there? From college basketball the college football, Josh Fields,
we'll get immediate instate our reinstatement or immediate eligibility. I
(01:09:19):
guess I should say to be the quarterback for Ohio State.
I think this is fantastic. I hate that a kid
has to jump through hoops and come up with a
special circumstance in order to be active right away. I
really feel like the kids are getting the raw end
of the deal. If somebody doesn't want you and doesn't
want to play you. What's wrong with the kids saying
(01:09:42):
you don't want to play me? Uh, you don't think
I'm good enough? Fine, allow me to go get my
education and go to somebody that does want to play me.
I I don't understand why that's such a problem. Aren
It's funny because I'm the supposed millennial here, but you're
the one that sounds like a millennial. Oh, I'm not
getting my way, so I'm just gonna go to the
next place. It's not getting your way. Look at Jalen Hurts,
(01:10:04):
you're not playing. You're on the bench. Why I want
to play? You know, if I'm not good enough to
play here, allowed me to go someplace where I am
good enough, don't But I'm just not gonna sit on
the bench for the rest of my life though, Go ahead.
Jalen Hurts was on the bench for the whole year
this year, right, But now now we can go somewhere
else because he didn't want to sit out. But but
(01:10:25):
if if you allow him to transfer without sitting out,
he would not have sat on the bench the whole year. Well,
let me ask you a question about you. But my
whole point was why should he have to sit on
the bench instead of going someplace where he could play.
I don't unders why that's a problem. Well, it's it's
I don't know if it's a problem. I mean, the
reason they do it is because they don't want kids
four years, four different schools. I mean, you know, I
(01:10:47):
just think that it creates this kind of mass chaos
free agency and Alabama brings in twenty five guys in
their recruiting class, but nobody plays because all the older
guys are so much better. They could lose twenty eyes
off scholarship. Can't you say, maybe we'll give your one
free transfer. Doesn't have to be every year, don't have
to be four times. Maybe we'll give one kid a
(01:11:08):
do over, one kid or not one kid, each kid
one do over and say, okay, take another choice without
sitting out a year. See that on one of mind
and listen. I mean, you know this is something with
all these topics in sports, right, it always has to
be one way or the other. But I have no
problem with some compromise. I have no problem with like
you said, Arnie, uh, you get to a school. It's
not what you think it is, by the way, and
(01:11:30):
I think this is happening more and more. Not only
is a head coach maybe leaving after year or two.
After year or two. We had one that left up
for a week. Well that's what I was gonna say.
With the coordinator at USC, they had a bunch of
kids that committed specifically to play for Cliff Kingsbury because yeah,
well they play. They signed up to play for Cliff Kingsbury.
They're like, well, if he's not gonna be here, this
is the whole reason I'm coming. So I have no
(01:11:52):
problem with it. You know, I know, or I believe
he did. I don't want to quote him exactly, but
I believe our buddy Joe Klatt has been an advocate
of um, if if the coach gets fired or leaves,
you should be able to leave. And I like that,
but you know, and and by the way, I want
to be opposed if you get one free shot. I
just don't like the idea of every single year you're saying,
well I didn't get playing time, I'm just gonna go
(01:12:13):
to the next Well, but you seem to be explaining
this to you. Let's say in any sport could be football,
could be basketball. Let's say I'm a star quarterback. I
I think I could take it to the next level.
I'm in Alabama and I see that too, has got
a a stronghold on the quarterback position. Do I just
sit there in Alabama realize that my dream is slipping away.
(01:12:34):
I'll never play in the NFL because I'm never gonna
play college ball, So I should be forced to sit there,
and if I leave, I should have to sit out
a year. That doesn't sound right that that's not the
American way. If you don't want me, isn't the amazing way?
Hard work? Isn't the American way. Overcome adversity? It is
(01:12:55):
every every way sign of adversity. I'll overcome adversity. Okay,
then instead of going through the boot chip Alabama, I'll
go to Rutgers. I'll go to whatever program was three
and eight and see if I could turn them around.
I'll work hard and take my opportunity. I should stay
(01:13:15):
on the bench, stay at that school and make sure
I don't go to the NFL or the NBA or
Major League Baseball or whatever sport you want to play it.
I should give up my dream because this coach doesn't
want to play me. That doesn't make sense to me. Well, no,
and that's what I'm saying is like I do think, like, hey,
if we want to give every kid one waiver to say, hey,
you don't have to sit out of here, I would
(01:13:36):
have no problem with that. I would have no problem
if a coaching change happens that you get to leave.
But I'd also say, by the way, some of this
is on the kids. In this case, justin Fields, this
kid committed to Georgia after Jake from got to Georgia.
When I call him, Josh, I'm sorry, go ahead, it's okay.
I think, yeah, Josh Fields, maybe a baseball player. I
don't know, I don't know why. It's all good, it's
(01:13:56):
all good. But the point is is some of this
is on the kid too. I mean, I'm not saying
if you think george is the best place for you
and you're willing to go compete because oh, by the way,
Trevor Lawrence beat out a guy at Clemson that was
in you know, a starter. But you know, he did
go to a school that had just made the national
championship and had a freshman court that they made the
(01:14:18):
national championship with a freshman at quarterback. Obviously, that guy
has two years left now. Obviously he thought Josh Justin Fields,
excuse me, I thought he was gonna beat him out.
Some of this is on him too, though, I mean,
there were a lot of great options, So he made
a mistake. We should punish him before that. You can't
make already like he made a mistake against the r
or anything like that. He just made a bad decision,
(01:14:39):
aren't he already told you? I agree with you. You
keep wanting to start and I think you're still mad
that I'm so right about the Pelicans and Anthony Davis.
You keep wanting to start a fight with me, and
I'm like, no, I actually agree with you. Jeez, I'm
salty about my Wildcats. Coming up next, though, the Sager
tells you everything you need to know about the Alliance

(01:15:45):
going on to say? Is there such a thing I
didn't in the Forbes magazine though, that your Arizona hot
Shots were the odds odd favorite for this league. That's
the team coach by Rick Newhis So how much you
think they're paying all these coaches and announcements. They think
they've got really big time announces, the coaches. So how
much do they pay these guys? They are getting TV money.
You're right, it's two or three different networks. I mean,
(01:16:06):
there's two games on cable tomorrow. It's just not that
long of a season. It's when the NBA playoffs start.
Made April, that's the final weekend of this football league
already made April. I'm just amazed that that Vegas Runner
was so on top of like, oh, we have power numbers,
and like, how do you have power numbers on something
that literally didn't exist yesterday? I don't understand. That's a
(01:16:28):
good question. Tonight's game on TV was at the Alamo Dome,
coach Mike Riley San Antonio Commanders a winner over coach
Mike mart San Diego Fleet, and then pretty much since
I was gonna work two games on Saturday, two games
on Sunday until April, and then by late April they'll
have a Saturday championship game. I said that that short
of a season. Yes it is. It's ten weeks and
(01:16:49):
that'll do it. And so there's four teams in the
West and four teams in the East. I mentioned San
Antonio one fifteen to six. It was six six starting
the fourth like we were used to that. And then
it was Steve Spurrier's Orlando Apollos winning forty to six
over Atlanta. I didn't see no. Apparently at a forty
(01:17:10):
to six win, there was no call for that. That
doesn't matter. Should come off. Memphis coach by Mike Singletary
is playing tomorrow. Can't do it, can't win with him.
We'll see if we can win with him. His quarterbacks
are Zach Mettenberg and Christian Hackenburg. That's tomorrow. That's one
of the two games tomorrow. The league co founder is
(01:17:31):
Bill Pollyan. But with the rules, you may have noticed,
no kickoffs, no extra point kicks either. You have to
go for two after every touchdown. So then once you
get to overtime, of course, no extra point kicks in
that either. They'll just stick the ball first down and
goal at the ten and you have four downs to
try and get in the end zone. I won't thank you, Mike.
(01:17:52):
Good luck tomorrow. The super Bowl, by the way, got
under one hundred million viewers this past weekend for that
lowest scoring super Bowl ever. They did tack on another
twelve million viewers for out of home ratings. Nielsen has
that now twelve mile. The Super Bowl post game show
was fifty four million, which is down twenty five percent
(01:18:15):
from a year ago. College hoops, the number one ranked
team in the country is still Tennessee beat Florida today
and the Valls have one eighteen straight. Number two Duke
one at number three Virginia. Duke shot fifty eight percent
from the floor on three pointers thirteen for twenty one
and one of the three. Great freshman R. J. Barrett
had twenty six points. Yeah, sure he should have the
(01:18:36):
number four rank. And Zaga Bulldogs with the blowout win
over St. Mary's tonight, it's their seventieth forty point win
of the season. Duke the last team to have that
many such blowouts, and that was back in two thousand
one played. But the thing is they're not winning by
fifteen or twenty, which is what they used to do.
They're just slaughtering people. This is a great and Zaga
(01:18:58):
team twenty three and two, and Kentucky's ranked fifth in
the country and they want a close one at Mississippi State.
Kentucky is nine and one in conference and it will
host number one Tennessee next Saturday night. And I saw
an article today that John Wall, injured for the Wizards
in the NBA, will finish his Kentucky degree while he
has this next year off him. Yeah. Absolutely had made
a promise to his father. I believe. Ages ago Number
(01:19:21):
six Nevada beat up New Mexico. Nevada's only loss was
at New Mexico a month ago. They had lost by
twenty seven. Today they beat them in the return match
by twenty nine largest swing and to my friend, gotta
watch that out in Nowbuquerque. Michigan got back at Wisconsin.
They'd lost at Wisconsin last month after the Wolverines had
started seventeen and oh this season. Michigan wins today in
(01:19:44):
the top twenty matchup with Wisconsin. Looking at the box score,
the Badgers on free throws today over too for a
whole forty minute game over two from the line. Number
eight North Carolina won an overtime against Miami freshman Kobe
White thirty three points, so the tar he'll their nine
and one in conference, tied for first with Duke, and
North Carolina will host Virginia on Monday night. Number nine
(01:20:06):
Michigan State had lost three in a row but beat
up Minnesota today. And you mentioned the Big East with
FS one. Number ten Marquette beat number fourteen Villanova six.
It was and Marcus Howard with thirty eight points. They'll
be playing at Villanova on FS one at the end
of the month. Until today, Villanova was ten and oh
in the Big East and now it's Marquette just a
(01:20:27):
game back in the standings. And for some reason, Virginia
Tech is still ranked eleventh in the country. This week.
They lost it Clemson today. Virginia Tech is just four
and four in its last eight games, and the Hokey
shot just twenty eight percent from the floor today. Thirteenth
rank Kansas had lost four out of six, but did
today beat Oklahoma State today, perdue one tonight against Nebraska
(01:20:49):
and Florida State in overtime. Beat Louisville in the top
twenty five matchup. Louisville Cardinals twenty three turnovers, f SU
just eight. Louisville is gonna host Duke on Tuesday night.
Good luck on that. Let me know how that works
out for them. Why didn't Zion Williamson go to Arizona?
That's the question everybody wants to know. Everybody one literally
(01:21:09):
one person. I'm gonna be bummed out if my Wildcats
don't make the tournament. I can't watch. That seems likely
for much of the pack twelve. Not likely, it's a
guarantee at this point. Two hours are in the books.
Thank you to say, are the power hours coming up next?

that clumps and has a problem here on Fox Sports
or radio. I want winners. I want people that want
to win. Two big comebacks in the NBA tonight, Oklahoma
City was down twenty six points at Houston and still
defeated the Rockets one sevent one twelve. Paul George scored.
The Clippers were down twenty eight and the second quarter,
(01:21:50):
but still wanted Boston twelve. Kyrie Irving and the Celtics
left with the spring knee. Toronto now just one game
behind Milwaukee for first place in the East. RONA one
in New York one, sending the next to a sixteenth
straight loss. Milwaukee All star Jani Setena Kumbo did not
play tonight due to a sore knee, and the buck
six game winning streak is over, losing at home one
(01:22:11):

stinking genius one. We've actually done something good today. We're
(01:22:58):
helping Torres, uh say, of his marriage, even though he
hasn't started yet, because he's getting married in July. He
actually was naive enough to think that this Valentine's Day,
the first one ever, uh since he's been engaged, is
no big deal. I remember when I was naive like that.
So we're pretty much just say may or, aren't we? Torres? Yeah?
You know if you add a zero? Yeah wait a minute,
(01:23:19):
you're thirty, right, yeah, so it's all that New York
I just saw that New York Post article that said
seventy is the new forty. So if I'm fifty five,
that makes me thirty. Then the last time you were five? Wow?
Maybe wow? Geez, so real quick, aren't you know? You're
(01:23:40):
quick to dispense advice? What are you what are you
doing for your lovely wife? Trixie? Trixie? Sorry, I couldn't
even get it out. Suppose we have a listener and
his wife is actually named Trixie, and we're laughing at
his wife's name. By the way, is that's still I've
never heard recently if anybody said I'm gonna have a
daughter and I'm gonna call her a Trixie. That's I
(01:24:00):
guess that's kind of a forgotten name, kind of like Arnold.
You know what I mean, what an awful name? Who name?
Believe you? That's why I change it to Artie. That's
a little bit better. You're not too much better. So
what are you doing for your lovely wife? You will,
you've you're kind of duck in the question, I'm not
gonna do anything. What do you mean You're not gonna
do anything like hei from said when you've been married
this song, You've got to the point where you know,
(01:24:22):
every day's Valentine's Day from my wife, So why did
you like do something special on Thursday? I don't know,
it's your seventy second Valentine's Day as a married couple.
And they say that that's just as my wife. You
called her old and see what you have to say
about that. By by the way, where are you going
on your honeymoon? That's one thing we haven't figured out yet. Unfortunately,
well I don't know if it's unfortunate fortunate. So here's
(01:24:43):
my here's my deal. Oh, please allow our listeners to
help you out on this one. Where should Torres go
on his honeymoon? Think back where you guys went, um
Aaron Underscore Tours. I'm it stinking genius one. And let
me start off by saying, I'm not gonna tell you
where to go. I'm gonna tell you where not to go. Okay,
(01:25:04):
And that's where I went from my honeymoon when my
wife said to me, where do you want to go?
And I went, I don't care, pick a place, and
for some reason she picked the Canadian Rocky Oh yeah,
I've heard this, Yeah, the Canadian Rockies. Bam Lake Louise.
And I gotta tell you. We were on the honeymoon
for ten days. How much glasses of water can I drink?
(01:25:28):
And my wife goes, wow, look at that lake and
the glacier and how beautiful it is. And I'm looking
at it not even ten minutes and I'm board to death.
I can't take two weeks of this. I go, what
are we gonna do the other nine days? I'm board
off my backside, looking at water. This is what I'm
doing on my vacation on my honeymoon. I'm I'm looking
(01:25:50):
at water and glaciers and I'm drinking cold water. Old boy,
it's delicious. Don't go to the Canadian rockies. Okay, trust
me on that one. Arnie Span of the first man
to file for divorce while on his honeymoon ridiculous. Okay,
So here are the parameters of my honeymoon. My only stipulation, Arnie,
is this, I have one rule, one stipulation. It has
(01:26:14):
to be somewhere that has all inclusive resorts, because all
I wanna do is go chill out and just drink
and relax and get some sun for like six straight days. Now,
I was gonna go. My wife and I were on
the New we Wed Game, and yeah, and I don't know,
don't know if rad to Ryan could find the speed
ending to it. I do, because that's not my name name.
(01:26:37):
We changed your name now from Papa Bear to Rador
Ryan asking relationship advice. But I was on the New
we weed game. We won, and we want a trip
to Micronesia. Now that's supposed to be like some fancy
plays where like John Kennedy Jr. Used to go scuba
diving and stuff like that, but we never went. It was,
(01:26:58):
you know, we my wife was pregnant. I wasn't allowed
to go with somebody else, so yeah, we I would
rather just go to Hawaii. What's wrong from Hawaii? I
thought you were sterile? Thank you, thank you very much
on that. Though I do have a kid. Why why
not just go to Hawaii and make it easier on yourself?
So Hawaii doesn't have all inclusive there's no all inclusive
resorts in Hawaii. We've looked into this, believe me, Arenie, Well,
(01:27:21):
you're really a diva, aren't you. I'm a diva because
I want free booze, Aren'tie. I don't want to I
don't want to have to go around looking for restaurants,
looking for this or that. I just want to walk
down to the pool and say, give me a couple
of my ties. Let's go. It's eight am. Let's get
going here. Let's get this show on the road. I've
never been on a cruise, but I'm not a cruise guy.
(01:27:42):
I'm not a cruzing Why you're not a cruise guy either,
or what? No, I'm not a cruise guy. So anyway,
so we so that was my only stipulation. I was
in on the Bahamas. And then she saw that August
apparently is the start of hurricane season, and oh, we
can't go. Eric. I'm like, the hurricanes don't really start
till September. Everybody knows that. I mean, you know, it's
like saying winter. You know, the fall starts on September
(01:28:04):
twenty one. I mean that, that doesn't mean the leaves
are different colors on September twenty one. But she's so,
she's down on the Caribbean. I'm not a Bahamas type guy.
Why why didn't you like it? It was pricey and um,
I don't know. I didn't have the best time out there.
I I prefer Diva. Look at you, Mr Diva? Wow?
(01:28:27):
Well maybe the maybe wait you want to your what
you want to go someplace fancy. I'm more of a
down to earth type. I'm down here. I'm a lunch
pale type guy. You know, oh you are okay, yeah,
you know that you you prefer sushi I'm more of
a bologna sandwich with spicy mustard. Yeah, chucky cheese. Listen,
(01:28:48):
I um, I'm saying I'd be down for a little
kabo or cancoon or something like that. So there still, Yeah,
I know that's why I can afford to go there.
It's called price line. You should look at it all right,
well if you have suggestions for tours where you should
go in his honeymoon. Uh and and by the way,
you know it could help you if somebody gives you
a good suggestion because you don't want to go someplace
(01:29:10):
that's gonna be terrible or the you know, cost you
a lot of money, or you know, just ruins the experience.
That's why I said, don't go to the Canadian Rockies.
You're you're not gonna lie. We went from the Bank
to Lake Louise to what Calgary, I don't even know anymore.
Um might get me the heck out of or I
wanted to get the get on home right lots to
get to this hour. You'll get our picks coming up
at the at the what forty five, So stick around
(01:29:32):
for that. And we do have a few picks on
that I was gonna reset Anthony Davis and all that,
But I want to go ahead and talk about one
story that's not getting a lot of talk about, but
yet I think it's pretty important. And I'm talking about
the Clemson football team because coming out today, Clemson officials
said they still don't know our aren't saying how three
football players tested positive for the illegal performance hancing drug
(01:29:56):
prior to the December twenty nine cotton ball, but the
program continues to appeal the suspension, I mean earlier. They
also went on to say that they're not sure that
if the university may have given them those p d
s by mistake, Aaron, does that open up the whole
door to everybody that says, I have no idea how
(01:30:17):
I got it, that we may have to believe them now.
And if the football team and the coaches make a
mistake like that, certainly kids can make a mistake like that,
can't they or what well they have? Um? You know,
so the pd that was found in these kids, uh, um,
you know whatever system. Yeah, it was the same thing
(01:30:38):
as your buddy Alonso Treer played at Arizona and now
is with the New York Knicks, And it was the
exact same deal. People it was literally in his system.
For like, when they're saying they don't know how how
they may have given it to back said, that's a
bunch of bologna, then is what you're saying. No, it happened.
It happened Alonso Trier, same deal. But maybe you should
(01:30:59):
have warned of the Alonzo true situation, so they should
have been on that. No. Yeah, I mean I don't
think that anyone intentionally gave them anything. I mean, right,
if if Clemson was intentionally giving them stuff, then the
whole team be a much bigger story. Then would it
matter why? I would think so? Yeah, if the whole
team was busted for p d S, yeah, I'd say so. Well,
(01:31:20):
I would think those three players have a pretty good lawsuit.
I'd be contacting an attorney if I was them. Uh
Dexter Lawrence is going to be a top fifteen NFL
draft pick. I think he's gonna be just fine. That
doesn't make what happened to him right though, And how
do you know he wouldn't have been a top ten
if he wouldn't been suspended. How do you know other
teams are not turned off because because of the suspension
or because of this drug test. How do you know
(01:31:40):
he doesn't have a little bit of a bad name
of a couple of teams that may take him a
spot or too early. I'm not so sure. I wouldn't.
I are an attorney because of this, And you're gonna
sue Clemson on what grounds if it was accidental? I
don't give a damn if it was accidental. You what
are you suing them for? My good name? What do
you mean? What am I suing them for? You heard
my good name? You got me suspended and in may
it cost to me be millions of dollars? Well, what
(01:32:02):
about advertising and commercials I'm gonna do? And you know
what about other stuff like I I do charity for
the boys the Girls cover or whatever? What about keep
you in charity? Boys and Girls Club? Isn't gonna turn
you down? No, but you still you hurt your good name.
You should have something for that. You're gonna tell me
you hurt your good name and you've been suspended? Be
(01:32:22):
real quick. Who was the Super Bowl m v P
this year? The souper I could barely remember it was Edelman? Yeah,
what what did Edelman? He got suspended for something? Right? Yes,
he did? He got suspended for the first four games
for p D s also, and what happened to his
good name? Is he having trouble getting endorsements? Well, what
are you saying, because somebody has been busted with p
(01:32:43):
D doesn't hurt your good name? If it doesn't hurt Edelman,
I mean, he won the Super Bowl m v P.
Nobody seems to care. Well if the Super Bowl MVP
had to go to the guy who had the best stats,
he had the best stats. What were they going to
take it away? But he had p D tom Brady.
What I'm saying is that he got best p d
s and nobody's knowing his good name. Isn't ravage the
way that you think that these Clemson players good names.
(01:33:05):
Tom Brady's name was because he voluntarily cheated. Well, he
could still win the m v P. They were they
wouldn't have taken the m v P away from him
over that? Would they have taken it away over what?
Because of what happened because of the cheating? Would they
have take the m v P away? No, I'm talking
about p d s. I'm talking about p ds. You're
talking about somebody. You're saying that these poor Clemson kids. Oh,
(01:33:28):
their names have been ruined forever. Yet a guy just
one Super Bowl m v P that got busted for Petle.
How do you know he's not getting commercials are not
staying away from him, or endorsements are not staying away
from him because of that. I don't know if you
have proof that they are. I'd love to do I
have proof. No, Coca Cola or any other company didn't
say we were gonna use Adelman, but now we're not.
(01:33:48):
But that does make sense, does it that if a
company wanted to use you, I can see you backing
out because you're being suspended because of the E D S.
It's not a good thing that you've been busted, would
be E D S? Yeah, I mean I think if Elemson,
I think if Clemson says, my year, Disney used them,
Disney used them, Well, Disney uses all the people that
win the m v P. Oh yeah, yeah, I know,
(01:34:09):
I know what you're saying. Um, yeah, I just think
that if you're one of these guys, I mean, it's
really sucks that you got suspended for the playoff, But
if it wasn't intentional, I don't really know what either
Clemson is supposed to do or I don't know what
what a lawyers? So what what are you seriously? You know, accidents,
You can't sue people when there's accidents. They don't have
(01:34:30):
to be that. You don't go them on purpose their accidents.
So you like when there's a car accident, it's not
like I purposely drove into you. We had a car accident.
But blame me, you blame me, Well, you blame me,
I blame you. We're gonna go to court, we're gonna
sue each other. Somebody's going to win. I didn't do
it on purpose. It was by accident. Yeah, but you're
(01:34:52):
talking about libel, and to win a libel case you
have to prove malicious intent. And i'm there's any malicious
intent on behalf of Clemson. I don't think Clemson doctor
there their smoothies after practice. Just you serious? Are you
gonna tell me they made a mistake. If they made
a mistake like this and and and got these kids suspended,
you're just gonna say, oh wow, that's life. That's that's
(01:35:14):
just the way it's got to me. You have no
recourse over something like the stakes happen all the time.
Stakes happen all the time. These things happen all the time.
I mean, there's like a million people across the country
and jail that are believed to be innocent. Seriously, I
saw a stat like one out of you know, there's
like over a million people in jail that could be
like like that might be innocent and they're in jail
(01:35:36):
right now, so you shouldn't let him out. Then that's happen. Sorry,
well that's what But what I'm saying is is that
mistakes happen all the time. I just I don't know
what you expect a lawyer to do to me. It
didn't affect this kid's draft stock. I mean, look, this
is what I would love. Well, that's what I was
gonna say. This is what I would love to me.
This isn't a conversation right now. If Dexter Lawrence falls
(01:35:59):
to the second round, if a team comes out and
says we can't draft him because of p d S,
then I think it's a conversation. How about it? How
about his agent is saying that? Did his agents say that?
I don't know, but suppose his agent is thinking that
was all agents would think that. Well, I think it's
really fair of an NFL team to look into it. Um,
and I do wonder. You know what I actually thought today, Ernie,
(01:36:21):
when I saw this story when you sent it to me,
is is Clemson trying to protect the kid because now
the kids getting asked questions about are you a p
d US? That was what I thought, is I don't
think they want to hurt their good name for future
recruiting though, so Um, I'm not so sure they do that.
By the way, Nick says, excellent resorting Cancoon. We've been twice.
(01:36:43):
It's absolutely amazing and it's definitely all inclusive. So give
that a call. Check that out there. One, Nick, my My,
My direct messages are always open on Twitter. Two. I
have been to Cancoon and I will tell you that
is a fun place to hang out. And I went
to an all inclusive resort there. All right, well we
get back. I want to get a little bit into
(01:37:04):
Kyler Murray. We'll discuss that he's here in Taures. I'm
already Spaniard. This is Fox Sports are radio for a
car landing on a roof to a car landing in
the pool. We've covered him. Talk to farmers. We know
a thing or two because we've seen a thing or two.
We are farmers under written my Farmers truck fire insurance

I've just come up with a genius idea, Torres, I
mean genius. I think when you get married, you get
(01:37:53):
married on a Saturday night, too late, but continue, just
you get married on a Saturday night, you show up
to work, you get married while we do the show. Okay,
Rader Ryan presides over the ceremony, right, but you can
marry them, couldn't you. You can make that up. You
can come up with some have raid to Ryan marry
(01:38:17):
you guys, and and and all the listeners could be
present while you get married while we're on the air
and talking sports. What a great idea, you know. I
don't actually hate that idea, unfortunately, listen. I am all
about making everyday life into a gimmick for this ship,
would love it, would just love it. I will say,
(01:38:39):
I bet it make for some compelling radio one. I
don't know if the lady would be down for that,
and too, most importantly, uh, we have already set our
wedding date for that weekend and it's actually we're actually
getting married on Friday. By the way, are you getting
married in Los Angeles right outside the city? Yeah? Are
you in that way? Are you gonna be in the
(01:39:00):
tuxedo and nights dress? Are you gonna be the millennial
will get married on the beach wear shorts and no
shoes and bare feet? Uh no, My my lady would
not be happy if I was wearing shorts in them.
Come on, and that the new thing now George's bare
feet the beach, you know? Uh? Yeah, I think it is,
(01:39:21):
but not for us. I will say, though, did I
tell you we're actually staying at a casino? So so
like the reception is at a you know, a regular place,
but then right down the street as a casino. That's
where everybody's staying. So we're gonna be hitting the tables
late and early and everything in between. But no, I
don't think it will be during this show. Maybe I'll
(01:39:42):
call in about maybe it could be a chance that
you so there is a chance maybe I'll call in
that night. Well, I don't know what kind of condition
will be. If you call it that night, then you're
really gonna be headed for divorce. I trust trust me
on that one. Yeah. If that's what I'm focused on
on the night after my wedding, is Arnie Spanning, You're
focusing on the rock. Think if you do have a
honeymoon suggestions for Aaron. We're getting Cancun, a lot, a
(01:40:05):
lot of people I can coun You could get us
at Aaron under score toras I would, thinking genius one Cancun.
Have I've been the Cancoon? Mr, I'm too good for
the Bahamas. I've been the Mazawan. Okay, I think that's
I had to think about it for a second and
I go, no, I've been the Mazawan. I think that's
right here. I barely remember Mazawan. That was when I
was in college, don't boy, it was one of those
(01:40:27):
you were in college, barely remember which of your seven
years at Arizona was it? Oh? I have no idea,
I have no idea. Just want with that. One of
my fraternity brothers. You know, Keag and Resin and Keish
and those guys, you know, just the usual guys, Keg
and Resin, like he don't forget kesh Key show ka.
(01:40:48):
I bet he was a ball to hang out with.
Who was the craziest one on all of him? I
feel like Keish that's when he would come home after
the Keg was pretty wild. Yeah, I guess when you
get the nickname keg or you used told call his
girlfriend pone, So what does that mean? That's too I'm
too young for that. Forget? Can I can I go
out to Millennial Rant for a second? Go ahead? And
it has to do with sports, So it has to
(01:41:10):
do with your boy, Kevin Durant future nick Kevin Durant.
So I was thinking about this this week, right, so
go ahead. So we're he we heard this story about
Kevin Durant. The reason he wants to leave New York
is because he's so frustra or. He wants, yes, correct,
my bad, leave Golden State for New York because he's
(01:41:31):
so frustrated that no matter what he does in Golden State,
he cannot be considered greater than Lebron James. And I
was thinking about him, And I was thinking about Jimmy Butler,
who has been ten different places and he's not happy anywhere.
I was thinking about Kyrie, who played with the greatest
player maybe in the history of basketball, Lebron James, and
he wanted out now he might want out from the
(01:41:52):
best run organization in the NBA, arguably with the Boston Celtics,
who was going through the worst a two game stretch
in gosh knows how. I just I feel like this
is like the what is the thing that we say
about millennials, like as a group, right? Oh, they can
never just say they jump from job to job, They
moved from city to city. They don't settle down in
a relationship. I feel like all these guys are such millennials.
(01:42:16):
Like Kevin Durant is the second best player in the world.
No one disputes it, no one's arguing it. He's got
infinite wealth, He's won back to back championships, back to
back finals MVPs, And no matter what this guy has,
it's not good enough. Like this thing he's looking for.
What's he looking for? And That's what I'm saying. You know,
I I don't know Arnie, and I think that's The
(01:42:37):
thing is, I think he's gonna wake up one day
when he's sixty or seventy and say, why was I
so angry all the time? I had an awesome career.
I was the second best player on the planet for
a decade. And I don't know, I don't know. What
do you think he's looking for any because it just
feels like to me, I just it's just like, you
(01:42:57):
got a great thing going in Golden State. And I'll
tell you what, it's gonna be really hard if you
go to the Knicks, because, by the way, you couldn't
get to the finals when you were in Okay. See. Yeah,
but he's never going to be the guy. And I
don't mean the guy, but he's never going to be
the face of Golden State. That's always going to be
Steph Curry. And forget about who's better, who puts up
more points. As long as Steph Curry is on that
(01:43:20):
team until he retires, that's going to be the face
of the Golden State Warriors. Plus, you could see that
maybe Draymond Green is not gonna be back when that
contracts up, is they're not gonna be able to afford
everybody He's won his championship. It's time to move on
to him become the face of another team, or for
him to be the face of a team, and that
would probably be the New York Knicks. Now there's no
(01:43:41):
guarantee he's going to go to New York, but I
can see why he'd want to go in that fashion.
I don't agree with it, even though I'm a Knicks family.
You don't, you don't agree with it. I don't agree
with it because he's chasing something that really isn't there.
Even if you go to the Knicks, are you gonna
be the face? You have to win like three championships
before we say wow, look at you. He's never gonna
(01:44:01):
replace like a Walt Frazier or Willis Reid or or
anything like that. Maybe will be the current face and
helped turn around a Knick's program that hasn't won in gosh,
I don't even know how long anymore, what eighty something,
but it's embarrassing. But I don't even know if he
goes there he's gonna find what he's looking for. Aaron Well,
I agree with that. I don't know if he's gonna
(01:44:22):
find what he's looking for. And even if he wins
a championship in New York, it's gonna be onto the
next thing if he's not considered better than Lebron. But
what do you think about I thought this was a
point that a lot of people brought up. Jason Smith
brought this up. I know Doug Gottlie brought this up.
If this guy can't handle the softball media in in
San Francisco, in the Bay Area, the New York media
(01:44:44):
is gonna eat that guy alive. Yeah, they'll be up
a little bit more. And by the way, I don't
know if you saw what Kawai Leonard had to say
when they were talking about the afterwards. They asked him, so,
you know what's up with the contractor, but what's up
after the year? And he said, only asked me about
the game. Next question, and guess what they asked him
(01:45:05):
about the game. That's all you have to do is
handle it like that. You don't have to go off
for a rant like Kevin Durant it. Yeah, no, I
don't disagree, and I'm with you and that I think
what he is chasing, I don't know what he's chasing,
but he's not going to get it in New York
because First of all, I don't believe that unless somebody
(01:45:26):
else is coming with him, and I do think somebody
would have to come with him for him to make
that move. I don't think he's winning a championship one,
but even if he does, he seems to be chasing
something that doesn't exist. He just isn't happy with no
matter what he has, whether it was in Oklahoma City
in Golden State, winning back to back championships. I just
think this guy is unhappy and he needs to stop
(01:45:48):
worrying about what people like you and I say, stop
worrying about what's written about him, stop worrying about social media,
and just go play basketball because he's pretty good when
he does that. Will says, why leave wine Country for
the honeymoon too, or the wine untree for the honeymoon?
I don't know, you guys. Wine country guys are what
they're torres. I am not. I don't even like wine.
Let's not a wine guy either. I'm not. You know,
(01:46:09):
I don't know too many people that aren't wine people.
If my wine doesn't come in the box, I don't
want it. So uh. Plus, I'm gonna be staying at
the casino too. So if I'm staying in that area.
I'm just staying at the casino. I'm not or mad
Dog twenty is what you need out there. We'll talk
more about not only what's going on with the Celtics,
but I want to get more in the Kyler Murray
first though, Let's check it with the Sacre, see what's
(01:46:30):
trending out there, what's going on. We'll get to the

Geico dot com or give them a call one eight

that's figuring out which way is easier. Torres, I'm full
of idea. I'm an idea guy telling instead of um,
serving the rubber chicken that's white and pasty on your
wedding and really nobody likes. They're like, oh, this is
(01:50:11):
so good, but they really hate it. You should take
a page out of the White House and like get
the in and out Burger truck to comment serve your
guest in and out burgers. How about that? So originally
we were gonna look into something like that. Honestly, really,
I think that's a genius idea. And what ended up
happening was because we're so far out of the city
(01:50:31):
it's hard to get a truck or uh yeah, we're
pretty listen, I'm I'm just telling you facts. I mean,
and that was something that we thought and I think
what we're probably gonna do is, uh well probably you know,
we're gonna have the regular. We thought about all the
rubber chicken that nobody likes and you know, and it's
all pasty or what I will tell you. We had
(01:50:53):
to go to the venue probably about a month ago.
They were like, oh, we have all of our vendors here,
all of our you know, you could try all the food. Man,
I'd rather have my mom just cooked in the meal
or have my my mother in law cooked the meal
for everybody. It was much better than I love it. Now.
That's a good idea that I'm surprised to do. The
if you want, you can't. But if you could have, uh,
(01:51:14):
the one on one burger or the in and out
burger truck, um, you know, something like that would have
been absolutely awesome. I think your guess what it would
have liked that r Kyler Murray Um talk about interviews
and the guy that needs to learn how to deal
with the media, because I heard him out with Damn Patrick. Boy,
he didn't have a lot to say. But now if
we find out he is going to go to the
NFL combine, Um, I think he's gonna be selected in
(01:51:38):
the first round. And I saw my draft that had
the Dolphins taken him with the number pick. I'm still
not sure, but I get the feeling that this guy
really does want to play football over baseball. I don't
think he's really interested in baseball as much or nearly
as much. Aaron, I agree with you. You know, I
was the person that throughout the college football season, I
just said, look, there's too much money involved in baseball.
(01:52:02):
I don't think he's going to give it up. But
ever since those first couple of days after the baseball
or after the football season, when he did hedge, when
he did say I'm thinking about it, ever since then,
it seems like where his passion is is in football.
And to me, the way that I look at it is,
I don't really care which one. You do. Do whatever
you love, And even though I think it's the wrong
(01:52:23):
decision for him to play football, football seems to be
his first love, his first passion. I think that's what
he should do. You get mad at the media for
pushing questions like on Kyler Murray or like on Kevin
durandt or on um uh what's his face for Toronto
Kawai Leonard um because they're not gonna give you answers
for the most part, and when they do, you see
(01:52:45):
what happens to Anthony Davis. So should we stop badgering
them or should we continued to ask him questions like that?
So I think that Kyler Murray deal is different, right, Arnie,
Because Kevin Durant, Kawhi Leonard, they have media availability after
every game, before every game. There's only so many ways
they can answer the same question. But with Kyler Murray,
he showed up at the Super Bowl solely to collect
(01:53:07):
a paycheck. Nobody made him be there. But when you
come to that setting, you have to know that there's
literally only one question that people want to know. Is
he gonna be football? Is gonna be baseball? Baseball? Football, football, baseball,
And at that point it was still up in the air. Now,
I think now that he's going to the NFL Combine,
it's pretty much on, you know, indisputable he's gonna go
with football. But to me, that was such a bad
(01:53:27):
look for him because, like I said, I'll defend Kadie,
I'll defend Kawhi Leonard. But when you're Kyler Murray, you
know there's only one question people want answered, and then
you show up and act surprised and get mad that
people are asking it. Right, what what should the upset look?
I've still have not made a decision. It's up in
the air. And uh, as soon as I make a decision,
you'll be the first to know about that. I'll call
(01:53:49):
right in, Dan Patrick. Yeah, that's I mean, I think
that's the right way to do it. Or you know,
you open the interview by saying, you know I'm here
on behalf of whatever um or just so you know
we uh you know, I haven't to decision. Yeah, I
think that's perfect. I think the way that you laid
it out is perfectly fine. Jake says the show sucks
when you guys agree on everything. Now stop him. He
didn't listen to the first hour. Were just about everything
(01:54:10):
in the first hour. Yeah, I was ready to strangle.
You know, we're not even the same studio, thank god,
and we weren't even close on the same page on that.
A matter of fact, I I think more people see
it my way where I think the Pelicans are being
are wrong. I think Anthony Davis is getting wrong by
the Pelicans. And by the way, you never even comment
(01:54:30):
on on I think that Commissioners Silver needs to step
in say we're going to forget about this. Uh. The
trade uh deadline allowed teams to pick up Anthony Davis
and I don't want to hear anything about the Rose
rule or the max contract. Anybody that wants to make
your best offer now you can get them. See, I
(01:54:53):
think you're talking about the right person, but you're saying
the wrong thing. Okay, So the reason your big complaint
is at Anthony Davis that the Pelicans basically are kind
of yo yoing is playing time and Jeff trying to
make everybody happy, and it's gonna make the Pelicans happy,
Anthony Davis happy, the NBA happy, that everybody wins. In
my scenario, I don't like the idea of just randomly
(01:55:16):
changing a rule because there's always there's reasons that rules
are in place. But anyways, my big thing, Arnie is
I think you're missing who the real person is to blame.
It's Adam Silver because the league, because the Pelicans wanted
to sit Anthony Davis. They said, look, he doesn't want
to be here to do that. The league decided that exactly.
But you can't do that anyway to him. Not right.
(01:55:37):
He doesn't want to play. You got him for a
year and a half. You're gonna send him for a
year and a half because suppost nobody wants to trade
for You're gonna send him for a year and a half.
You're gonna teach him a lesson because he doesn't want
to come back to New Orleans. What's wrong with you, guys, Well,
he doesn't want to play for the team. The team
doesn't want him to play. He wants to protect himself
to make sure he doesn't get hurt. The team doesn't
want him to get hurt. I don't understand what the
(01:55:58):
big deal is, but it's actually the league that stepped in.
Anthony Davis was ready to sit and the Pelicans are
ready to sit him, and it was the league that
stepped in and said no, no, no, no no, he's got
to play. The league stepped in because they saw what
the Pelicans were doing and it's completely wrong. No, you're
missing it, Arnie, You're totally missing it. You're totally missing it. Well,
(01:56:19):
the NBA is on my side. Here is this is
directly so as you mentioned earlier, he played thirty four
minutes tonight. This is what is from straight from ESPN
dot com. Some voices in the Pelicans organization supported not
playing Davis after the team decided not to trade him,
sources told ESPN. The Pelicans, according to sources, were told
(01:56:39):
by the NBA they would be subject to a fine
of one hundred thousand dollars broad game point two point
six million if you do the rest of the games.
It's not that much. I mean, are you gonna give
up two point six million dollars. You just could. If
I want to prove a point, I will. I don't
think they want to prove a point. I think what
(01:57:00):
they're saying is we want to sit this guy. We
want to protect his trade value. He wants to protect himself,
and the league isn't doing it. I think you're you're
just I don't think you and I disagree. I think
you're just blaming the wrong person. It's Adam Silver. I
don't know why Adam Silver feels like he has to
play Judge and Jerry here. Why can't the team just
sit him out if they don't want to play him.
We'll wrap that up. I want to get the Celtics,
(01:57:21):
will get our picks. All that in the last segment.
That's next. Uh So check it out out right here
on Fox Sports a radio. From a hot air balloon
landing on a car to a load of concrete falling
on one, we've covered it. Talk to farmers. We know
a thing or two because we've seen a thing or two.
We are farmers under written my farmers truck fire insurance

exchange and affiliates products unavailable in every state. All right,
He's Aaron Torres, Am Marty Span your final segment of
the show. By the way, tours, you're filling in for
Plank tomorrow, are you not? I am stuck with you
for another night. My friend, Well, Blank never shows up
when football season over. Right, when the Super Bowl is done,
he's done, He takes off. Where does he go? Who knows?
(01:58:05):
Who knows what he's doing? He goes into deep depression.
When NFL football is done, he just crawls in the
hall and doesn't come out and told who knows when?
When the crying is By the way, I'll put you
on the spot because I can't find the tweet. I
know you commented on Tom Crean, Um, did you talking about?
(01:58:26):
What did you say? Did you see that quote? Yeah?
Could you submarize it? I don't have it in front
of me. Long story short, Tom creen that the new
head coach at Georgia. Georgia, he basically said Indiana College.
Former Indiana coach basically said, um, you know that. They
asked him why the teams struggling, and he basically said,
(01:58:47):
I could have run all these players off, most should
have gotten rid of most of them. But I decided
to bring him back exactly, And that's the crux of it,
and he just sounds like such a chair. Yeah, he goes.
Most when new coaches come in, they usually get rid
of everybody bringing their own team, which isn't true. Um,
but I you know, I've got I can't complain. I've
got to live with it. I'm the one that decided
to keep these guys, so it's it's on me. That
(01:59:11):
is just such a terrible look. I don't even know
where to begin with that. That that just says that
the stinks of saying you guys stink and I should
have got rid of all you guys. Um, for you
can't get rid of everybody when you come in. I mean,
that's that's a bunch of ALLOUDI here and you know that,
and I know that first of all. Yeah, I mean
my question is it makes it seem like he wants
to be the sympathetic figure, like, but now it looks
(01:59:34):
like a horse's backside now exactly. Hey, I could have
gotten rid of these guys and they stink, right, but
I'm too nice to get rid of him, and now
we stink. Don't you feel so bad for me? No,
Tom Crean, I don't feel bad for you. I don't
well who we feels coach I had to inherit a team.
He's doing pretty well, they're ranked, they're doing pretty good.
Who else Old Miss might make the tournament? Pits playing
(01:59:56):
pretty well, believe it or not, aren't either. There has
been a first year coach that has had success, so
not I. I just saw that. I thought that was
kind of disgusting. As for picks tomorrow, you don't have
to give us any music because I'm just gonna give
you a a F picks. I like Birmingham over Memphis, uh,
for no reason whatsoever. And and I'm gonna take my
Arizona hot shots against Salt Lake tomorrow. Um, so there
(02:00:20):
you got my picks. Okay, I'm frantically googling the a
F schedule. Those are the only two games tomorrow. So
I like Salt Lake City because I didn't know they
had a team until you said that. So okay, so
you're gonna go with Salt Lake. I mean, I don't
have the lines on any of these games either. And
then the Memphis Express versus the Birmingham Iron. Did you
(02:00:41):
see that the Iron has a player who was busted
for prostitution already? I must have missed that. But he's
going to miss the game with a groin injury, which
is that's facts. So now that I know that Birmingham
is down one of their defensive lineman who's out with
a groin injury after getting busted for prostitution, I will
go with Memphis. Are you gonna watch any of the
say for no, not none whatsoever. You cannot convince me.
(02:01:03):
I don't care if you know the thing that I
thought we love football or do we just love NFL
and college football? Yeah? I just think it's we don't
know who the players are. We don't know anything, We
have no allegiance, and I think they made a mistake
by not going after the Johnny Manziel's, the Tim Tebows.
I don't know. I don't I doubt capital. I don't
think the Johnny Manzels and the Tim Tebows would want
(02:01:25):
to play that. That's what I'm saying. I mean Johnny
Manzel would have maybe Johnny right, yeah, maybe john Like
if Johnny Manzel had been playing today, I would have
tuned in. He has he was playing up in Canada. Well,
I would have tuned in if I knew how. But
we're gonna go up to the game. He's playing for
montro We had him on the show about a couple
of months ago. Yeah, I know, he's like your best friend.
So it's so sad we didn't work out for him.
(02:01:46):
But what can you do? Well maybe next year. It's
so sad we have nothing to pick. But you're right.
If how about Colin Kaepernick, I don't think he would
have played. I think his brand is too strong right now.
If Colin Kaepernick played in the a F, I would
have predicted that that a f F game would have
gotten the same ratings as a regular season NFL game.
(02:02:07):
I bet it would have. I at least calls. It
certainly would have been much you know, must see TV
that as far as I'm concerned. Yeah, because I do
think right like the Colin Kaepernick haters would have tuned
in wanting to see him not succeed. Who wouldn't tune in?
Huh dude, it's such a great point. I don't know
if he would have actually played in that league. Okay,
I do know. Yeah, you're right, but it certainly would
(02:02:29):
have been great to see. I mean, do you want
to talk about putting the league on the map. All
you needed is one guy like that. So what are
we gonna talk about tomorrow when I'm in with Chris Blank,
when you're fill it in for Plank? Yeah, well, see
what breaks tonight, my friend will see what breaks tomorrow.
We'll see if what goes on with the Lakers. We
didn't even get to the Celtics, who had a twenty
eight point lead. Unbelievable. But by the way, coming up next,
(02:02:53):
straight out of Vegas. What Bernie Fratto love. Bernie love
getting the Vegas perspective and obviously he'll get a lot
into the NDB A college basketball baseball season around the corner,
pitchers and catchers going the report in a week thanks
to the crew, thanks to Vince producing the show. To
Segre on the updates are Buddy Ray to Ryan doing
that's not my name. I don't even know what to do,
(02:03:14):
so I can't even call you by your name. I
don't even know what to do for crying out loud.
For my partner, Aaron Torres, he's back tomorrow, sitting in
for Chris Flank. So we'll both be back tomorrow eleven
PM to two am Eastern. That's eight P two eleven
p on the West coast. So we'll wrap up the
entire weekend that's coming up right here on
