The dudes kick off the Summer of Sleaze with 1998's Wild Things! The gratuitous nudity and violence drew you in, but the smart script and numerous plot twists keep you interested. It's hot people doing bad things off the Florida coast, and it's a lot smarter than it looks. Jack Horner wishes he wrote this.

The dudes hunt Jack the Ripper in 2001's From Hell. This take on the ripper legend proposes an elaborate royal cover up to protect the Victorian monarchy, the Freemasons, and the established class system. Just rich and powerful people doing what they do. It may not be the best movie, but it oozes atmosphere, crafts an intriguing mystery, and has some great performances from Jack Sparrow, Hagrid, and Bilbo.

The Dudes celebrate Christmas in July with 1992's The Muppet Christmas Carol! It successfully blends the emotions of the classic tale with outstanding puppetry and humor. And Michael Caine gives one of his most memorable performances. Humbug? I think not.

The final entry for Pride 2025 is 1985's fun, if uneven A Nightmare on Elm Street 2 : Freddy's Revenge.  While this sequel doesn't have the gore you'd expect from the franchise, the gay subtext and 80s style keeps you returning for multiple rewatches.  Plus, it's always fun to see Marshall Bell get his for any reason.

The Dudes get experimental with 1969's Funeral Parade of Roses. Equal parts surreal, profound, and beautiful, this film is entirely unpredictable, and deliberately makes a strong stance that being gay or trans is entirely normal no matter what you think about it. It's weird and lovely and you will never forget it.

Pride 2025 kicks off with class and panache with 1987's Maurice, a Merchant-Ivory joint full of wit and sophistication.  This tale of repression in early 20th Century England will both move you and outrage you, sometimes within the same scene.  We've come a long way, and yet much of this movie that takes place in 1910 will still feel unfortunately modern.

The Dudes discover sex, drugs, and rock 'n' roll in 1970's Beyond the Valley of the Dolls. Written by Roger Ebert and directed by Russ Meyer, this debauched trip towards fame and fortune not only glamorizes late 60's counter culture, it satirizes Hollywood conventions of the era. This is our happening and it freaks us out!
