The coterie was notified that a Town Hall meeting was about to begin in response to a slew of murders at the hands of vampires. Everett reluctantly agreed that it was his duty to attend, Doris’s tarot cards warned of great danger and a meeting of the minds, Val hated pretty much everything, and, Evangeline, along with 4 other captives, was forced into a frenzy, soon to be unleashed on an unsuspecting Town Hall.

Val and Everett avoided talking about the whole “Dad” thing as they returned to the station, Doris interrogated their prisoner and learned that someone with terrifying skill had tampered with his memory, and Evangeline awoke in a basement, facing a cauldron of boiling blood and a strange and powerful vampire, her face concealed by a beaded veil. Just what is this new vampire’s plan for a brighter future?

Everett and Val captured one of their assailants, but only after Val murdered the other two and called Everett “Dad,” Evangeline was drained of blood to the point of torpor, and Doris was treated at Desanti General Hospital, then climbed on top of a taxi, having apparently expected a horse and carriage. With the shooters having blown up the squad car, damaged Cherry and peeled away in different directions, the coterie commandeered two vehicles and split up to cover more ground. Doris stayed behind to watch the crime scene and had a meaningful conversation about nothing with occult shop owner Margery Pritchard, Everett and Val cornered one of the vans in an alley and began their attack, and Evangeline found the second van ...

The coterie discovered that the corpse was indeed a snare meant to lure in vampires when a powerful ward blasted Doris back in a burst of white fire. With missing surveillance footage and a number of recent staff changes at the Sunset Retirement Home, it seems that the planning behind the attack was more sophisticated than originally suspected. The Coterie arrived at the Sunset Retirement Home to gather evidence and find those who had sent the frenzied attackers. Evangeline explained to Everett how they investigate crimes, Doris compelled Loreley Beerfass to reveal that it had not, in fact, been a “normal night” and Val broke into a locked shed only to find bloody symbols on the ground and a corpse, its flayed face contorted in a scream.
