Star Wars Droids & Star Wars Rebels - animated series
John has us take a look at two animated series based on the Star Wars property. The earliest example of animated Star Wars is the first thing we examine, Droids. The latest example we examine is Rebels.
The Star Wars holiday special showcased an animated short featuring Boba Fett and was the first foray in animation with the property.
Droids, set about a decade before A New Hope...
DuckTales - original animated series and reboot series
Brian's pick is one of the most memorable Disney television animation series. Based on the comic and character by Carl Barks, DuckTales follows the adventures of money obsessed Scrooge McDuck.
The original series had an impressive level of animation for television and put Disney TV squarely in the front for viewers.
Spawning a couple spinoffs and a video game it was a smash It ...
GLOW - the Gorgeous Ladies Of Wrestling (documentary & netflix series)
Keith's pick explores a short-lived 80′s wrestling show and the netflix series that recently aired dramatizing it.
The series is funny and dark. The casting is great with lots of physical performances.
The documentary is alright, it gives a glimpse at the world of the show from the perspective of the performers.
The GLOW series is available on Netflix. The GLO...
Saturday Morning Cartoons' Greatest Hits (album 1995)
Season four kicks off with this pick from Jules of cartoon theme songs from some 70′s properties as covered by mid-nineties alternative rock bands.
The album had a TV special tie-in starring Drew Barrymore, which is around on YouTube if you want to dig it up.
There are a few good tracks in here. There are better covers by better bands, and better theme songs, but this is what...

Noel (animated TV special 1992)
Our final episode with Dan is also his pick! And what a special and joyous way to spend our Christmas.
The Rankin & Bass production is cheap looking for early nineties animation. If it weren't for the relationship of the writer to the production house I doubt this special would have been released.
Even with a sparse and limited subject matter, which is reflected in the still images we're presentin...
The Nutcracker 3d (movie 2010)
Jules sure picked a winner this time... This is a tale of the rise of fascism and the blitz with a veneer of music and holiday magic.
The director felt that film can't capture ballet so he avoided dancing, instead opting to shoehorn lyrics into the Tchaikovsky composition. I can't imagine how they got Tim Rice to help with these clunky phrases.
The imagery is at times beautiful and often disturbin...
The Ventures' Christmas Album (1965)
Holiday albums are amongst some of the top selling records of all time, which means lots of bands have a Christmas record. We are bombarded by them from the moment Halloween decorations leave the shelves. Keith's pick is one of the few you may be able to stomach on repeat listen.
The Ventures are a prolific & pioneering band, playing with pedals and effects to create sounds that to date had nev...
A Christmas Dream (tv special 1984)
It was a golden age of prime time network television. A-Team, Webster, and dozens of new shows were bringing in the viewers. In the tradition of TV specials NBC made A Christmas Dream, a loose narrative upon which to hang celebrity appearances, ice skating, ventriloquism, music, magic, and when you're lulled in- a healthy dose of dogma.
The two featured stars, Emmanuel Lewis and Mr. T, were both ...
