Fusillade, an Arsenal Podcast

The four benevolent overlords of The Short Fuse talk about Arsenal and other tangentially related things that strike their fancy. But mostly Arsenal.

Episodes

October 9, 2012
Ted and Thomas discuss West Ham, Theo Walcott, and the difficulty of not kicking someone in the face.

Ted and Thomas dip a toe into the morass that is the transfer market as the window eases closed, and try to keep from drowning.

As the new Arsenal season begins, the guys from The Short Fuse take a look at what's about to happen by answering as many reader questions as possible.
Mark as Played
The guys discuss Mikel Arteta and Yossi Benayoun's importance to this Arsenal campaign, as well as whether or not taking a break in a game you're safely winning is a good idea.

Well, we hadn't lost to a relegation-threatened team for a while, so why not now? Also: cursed pubs, a dent in the left flank, and iTunes.

Newcastle has been Verminated. Who's going to get the next one? Rosicky? Chamakh? HLEB?!

Two Arsenal wins in one podcast? Surely you're kidding! No, friends, this is just the New Arsenal. With fully functional fullbacks.

The pilot episode of The Short Fuse's new podcast, starring Thomas Wachtel and Aidan Gibson. We'll complain about missed chances against Wolves, debate the merits of Thierry Henry's return and Lukas Podolski's possible transfer, and preview QPR. Also Thomas mispronounces "trequartista" like three times.
Mark as Played
There's only one Thierry Henry, and he's back from New York to (hopefully) be better than Marouane Chamakh. Also we use FIFA 12 to predict the outcomes of some upcoming games, which should tell you how Thomas feels about most match predictions.
Mark as Played
Well, that went well! We spend more time than anyone really wanted on the Swansea game, but trust me - the podcast really gets good when we preview the Manchester United match, mostly by making jokes about Michael Owen. Catharsis!
Mark as Played
So the Manchester United game didn't go quite as we'd hoped. We break that down, then talk about some ancillary details - like our collective distain for fans booing their team's players.

Ted and Aidan discuss Arsenal's dramatic come from behind victory against Aston Villa, as well as Jack Wilshere's injury.
Mark as Played
The gang review the Blackburn rout and preview the Sunderland match.
Mark as Played
So, that was fun! The guys discuss the last-minute win on Sunderland's beet patch, Thierry Henry's unadulterated awesomeness, and the specter (spectre?) of AC Milan looming. Also some mad skillz from Cristiano Ronaldo, for no real reason.
Mark as Played
We beat Tottenham. Yeah.
Mark as Played
The pod go over, reluctantly, Arsenal's capitulation against Milan and their exit of the FA Cup, plus pessimistically predict the Spurs match.
Mark as Played
Few predicted it, but Arsenal almost managed to pull themselves out of a self-imposed 4-0 hole to get past Milan in the Champions League. We talk about that, beating Liverpool, and the future of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (among other things).
