The resurrection of the Son of God is the single most important moment in human history. What happened on that Sunday morning surprised the mourners, refuted the skeptics, and change the world.
Could God really die for the sins of the world? How would that work? Why was it necessary? How did Jesus become the lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world.
It was an easy out, give Barabbas what he deserved and let Jesus go free. Yet, Jesus had a different plan and he received what Barabbas deserved.
In the midst of the chaos of the week, Jesus finds a few final moments with his Father. It is intense. It is painful. And, it is interrupted by a betrayal.
Jesus was a Jew. He had grown up celebrating the Passover and reciting the story of the Exodus. Now, one final time, he celebrates the Passover to foreshadow his own week to come.
The week begins in triumphant as Jesus is welcomed into Jerusalem as the King of the Jews. Ironically, it is the very title they will later use to mock him.
