At 16 Krystle Allen became Blind and turned inward. Eventually curiosity and strong connection to her family, friends and the community in Newark, New Jersey helped her launch her non-profit organization, Eyes Like Mine Inc. Hear about events like the Miss Blind Diva Empowerment Pageant, Dancing with the Blind and more aiding others in their adjustment.

Cultural competency in AD means authentic experiences of film and television because #RepresentationMatters! Yet, the "white washing" of Black content continues. One of the most egregious examples, "Hair Tales" all about Black women and their hair was narrated by a white woman. Something has to be said.
