The Road Case features the four women of award-winning country band Nice Horse. With each of them coming from very different musical backgrounds, they had no idea their worlds would one day collide into starting a country band together - but they did, and it worked. The ladies have had major ups and downs along the way, resulting in experiences that have been gut-grabbingly hilarious, incredibly trying, occasionally heartwarming, and sometimes downright idiotic. Hop into the tour van and join Katie, Brandi, Krista & Tara in The Road Case: stories of life on the road, with some of the friends they’ve met along the way.
TW: We do touch on the subject of sexual assault in this episode - we just wanted to give you a heads up.
This week, we have listener updates on Krista's mystery targeted ads and some new fire & gas escapades! Then, Tara and Krista nerd out HARD with all their favourite book and podcast recommendations from the last few months.

This week: we all get told about proper fire protocol by an actual dispatcher, Katie and Tara can’t stop talking birds, Krista commiserates with a listener who got hoodwinked by a social media advertisement, and we discuss the magic, wonder, and weirdness of targeted ads.
This week, we’re talking imposter syndrome, and no one is immune - including Neil Gaiman and Neil Armstrong. Brandi and Tara share some personal moments when they felt like they weren’t supposed to be where they are, Krista hits us with some cool science, and Katie tells us about the life-or-death scenario where she never ever hesitates. But first - we all have some very close brushes with FIRE! FIRE! FIRE!

Turns out you all were into ghost stories, some weird celebrity name-drops, and the surprisingly compelling sound a banana makes - but mostly, you folks just really love cats. Listen in as we listen back (with some brand-new commentary to boot!)

D'orjay The Singing Shaman colours outside the country music lines with anthemic, bold blues, honky-tonk and rock-flavoured roots with a distinct queer, Black twist. Originally from rural Alberta, she was a 2021 nominee for Country Artist of the Year at the Western Canadian Music Awards, and has been featured in Rolling Stone (!!!)
We kick things off with the story of D'orjay's incredible path to music, which took her...
This week, we welcome a couple of ethically non-monogamous lovebirds to the podcast - Vanessa and Bex! They take us through their sweet (and sometimes spicy) love story: how they met, how they began exploring polyamory, how Bex become a part of Vanessa's life alongside her three kids and spouse of 13 years (who is not polyamorous), and all the challenging, hilarious, and heartwarming moments along the way.
Plus, Vane...
It’s been awhile since we’ve all seen each other, and we have a lot to get caught up on! Brandi ducks out early because she had a bit TOO much fun during the Canadian Country Music Awards and lost her voice. Katie tells us how she learned about ethical non-monogamy, and applies the concept to Tara’s recent tour with (gasp!) ANOTHER BAND. Plus, we all have a lot of feelings about the new reality of travelling during the COVID-19 pan...
This week we welcome one of our very favourite Canadian singer-songwriters to the show -  Don Amero! This JUNO nominee hails from Manitoba and is one of the sweetest and most talented dudes you'll ever meet.
First off, we reminisce about Brandi's old van, Ruby, Don gives us the rundown on his recent gig with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra (!), and we discuss how best to escape the polar bears in Churchill, MB -...
This week, we welcome Sergeant First Class J.G. Miller to the show! J.G. is the principal horn and section leader of the US Army Field Band, and he also toured with legendary British rock band The Who. For real - this guy's got some stories.
First, though, Krista wants to make sure everyone in the world knows how old she and J.G. are by reminiscing about their time together at the University of Southern California, an...
This week, it's the incomparable Corb Lund! This born-and-raised Alberta boy has a history as an artist spanning 25+ years, including ten albums, three gold records, and a literal armful of awards.
We chat about all-ages shows and metal, clear up the pronunciation of "Nice Horse",  and try to get Corb's 81-year-old barrel-racer mom on the show.  Then we get serious and dig into all the important stuff ...
This week we welcome Michael McAdam to the show! Google "Funny Flight Attendant", and he'll be in the top three hits, guaranteed. Michael and our own former flight attendant Brandi swap some good, bad, and ugly stories about their experiences in the ...
Kelly Prescott is a third-generation singer/songwriter from Ottawa, ON. She's CCMA-nominated, has toured with Alan Doyle and Matchbox 20, just signed a record deal with Warner Music Canada, and is one of the funniest people we know.
We kick it off with some talk about the dangers of too much alcohol before flying, Tara and Kelly's meet-cute in Hamilton, and Kelly's vocal routine (hint: it involves spicy foo...

Brandi provides a detailed PSA on why you should never use cruise control while driving through the Rockies in the wintertime, Katie lays down the law on the absolute necessity of learning to drive a stick shift, and Krista and Tara deliver an open love letter to neuroscientist Andrew Huberman (call us, Andy!) Next, Katie regales us with a...
First up, we hear about Katie and Brandi's writing trip to Nashville and a close call that made them feel like a couple of teenagers with an over-the-counter test, and we chat about the weirdness of being a musician in the time of COVID and mourn the loss of our favourite taco joint. Then, start your engines: Krista tells us about a scary near-miss on Ontario's Highway 401 (home of the show "Heavy Rescue: 401"),...
