This doesn't happen very often, in fact this is a first. For this weeks radio show I played the set from the Sydney House Dance Battle. However that's only 90 minutes long and the show is two hours, so this mix has 30 minutes of extra music.
I'll be honest every time I heard the original mix I was left wanting more when it ended with Jesus Creates A Sound. Well I've answered my own wish!!
The songs in the last 30 min...

This is my 300th Podcast release!!!!!
It's been coming for what feels like years now, but we made.  I can't I've released this many mixes over the last 20 years.
If you were to play them all b2b without stopping it would take you over 21 days!!!  I owe so much to you guys for your ongoing support. Twenty years is a long time, and that's only the length of my digital story.  There is another 14 years prior to that whe...

I've been trying to get Tony Garcia on my radio show for the whole of 2025 and after eight months we got there. DJ/Producer and all round nice guy Tony has a number of residencies around the city, many of them playing vinyl. Founder of Rotary Disco and Klubhouse two great events on Sydney scene over the past decade.
This mix gives a hint of what we might sound like together. It's the first of three confirmed b2b session...

Originally recorded at the end of July but missed the release window.
This mix has a nice healthy dose of garage in the centre, but the last third is just straight up fire. The Riva Starr mix of Dennis Ferrer's Hey Hey from 2020 is the highlight for me.  Everytime I hear it it gets me going.  Genius.
Other standout tracks this month, "The Situation", "Better Days" and Dennis Quins quality garage take on Lood's classi...

So last month I started the annual classics series with the 2005 mix.
This week I flipped it round and did a mix based on the month I bought the music.  Since it's July that's the month I went with.  I have done this a couple of times on Pressure Radio with a Junes and Decembers mix.  It's fun and helps you reconnect with older music you may not have heard for years.
When I started the mix and looked in my music fold...

Where do we start with this one. Started off as a regular guest mix show with Emma (aka em_laa) who previously appeared on the show back at the start of the year.
However we were having so much fun that when we cut the feed for the radio we carried on for another 2hrs. Yes that's right this is an almost four hour mix.
And I can tell you it's chock full of sexy smooth deep house and soulful house goodness. It's hard t...

This mix marks the start of a new series - Back To - in which I dedicate a whole show to a specific year.  It's not the first time I've done it.  There are three or four such mixes from the old Pressure Radio days.  The different this time is consistency.  You see I didn't have any theme for the one of my weekly slots.  We already have a new mix, crate digging, a guest DJ and now going forward we'll have a Back To.  I can ...

Released just in the nick of time.  This is another mix that's been on repeat in my car, on my headphones for a couple of weeks now.
I love the flow between the first two tracks, you realise it's a different song it just sounds like the first song moves into a new section.  We have a big helping of Mr V in this mix.  All tracks you've heard in my mixes before but with a twist.  Each is a remix from the likes of Louie Ve...

Apologies for the late arrival of the May mix.  Ironically it was recorded on April 30th's radio show, but as per you the perfectionist in me wasn't 100% happy with the flow and had intentions of re-doing later in the month which of cause didn't happen.  However the more I listened to the mix the more I fell in love with it.  Now I don't hear any issues or flaws in it!
The tunes in the mix really are top shelf.  I feel ...

This is a fun mix from May this year.  Just before the start of the show I thought of playing only Copyright and Liquid People music since they were both big UK producing duos of the 00's and I had a decent amount of both of their catalogue.
Very much unplanned so no idea how it would turn out.  Would there be enough variation in energy to allow the mix to flow?
Luckily there was bucket loads.  I wasn't initially goi...

This weeks show was a crate digging session.  A digital crate dig, not sure what the word for that is.
Music ranges between 1995 and 2012 with the majority of tunes coming from the 00's
The whole mix manages to stay on a Soulful house vibe, very unual I know.  Not sure what happened I must have been in a chilled mood.
There is a little Subliminal section from the early days in there for the die hards.
Still loo...

Another special guest show and this month I'm proud to present good friend and Sydney legend DJ Dante Rivera, founder of Klubhouse and countless other Sydney events over the years.  Dante was partly responsible for my exposure to Sydney clubbers.  He was the first person to reach out post Covid to ask if I would play for Klubhouse.  That set has resulted in me playing for multiple promoters around the city.
Anyone that ...

This mix is a recording from the set I played for Night Safari on March 22nd at Carousel in Sydney.
Carousel is a relatively new club that recently got voted one of the top clubs in the world!!  It's somewhere I go regularly, the sound system alone cost $600k AUD!  Funktion one throughout, even in the bathroom they have a small Funktion One!
It's been a dream of mine to play there ever since it opened.  The DJ Booth ...

We had another special guest DJ on the show this week, DJ So Michael from Sydney.  Tried to get him on before Xmas, but you know Xmas.  So glad we didn't let it slip and so here we are.
Sol is a very rare talent having started DJing at the very tender age of eight!  By 14 he was playing in Sydney's clubs warming up for the likes of Dave Lee (back when he had his cool name) no less.
His Mum was a raver waaaay back in ...

Full write up over the weekend.

For now, here is the recording from this week's show.  Theme ended up being 00's which in turn ended up being a homage to Soulfuric with a couple of exceptions.

This is a 90% vinyl mix on a radio show.  There are a few dodgy transitions, I hope it doesn't spoil your enjoyment of the overall mix.  I normally don't release mixes with ropey transitions, but the tunes are too good ...

Finally broke my Soul of Sydney duck.  I went to their very first party at Sydney Park maybe 14 years ago with my then two little boys.  The youngest who was only two took to it like a duck.  He dragged me into the middle of the makeshift dancefloor and started dancing.  He didn't want to leave.
Fast forward to 2025 and I'm the one behind the decks spinning vinyl classics from 91-94.
It was a beautiful sunny day an...

Here we go with the start of a new month and with it a new mix of fresh new sounds.

I actually ran out of new tunes, it was a well discussed topic in the chatroom as to whether I had enough.  So I decided to end the mix with two of my own tracks, Can't Play which was my second track made and my latest one, Beautiful Persons.

I was also so happy to be able to play a track I melted in 1998 in my attic room in Nottingham.  I go...

Last show of the month and we were lucky two get two guests on the show, em_laa and Jeremy Sylvester.  The first show on VBR was a new mix of new(ish) tracks, so that leaves this week for crate digging and boy did we dig!  At least three quarters of the mix is vinyl as I didn't switch to digital until 2005 and most of these tracks are much older than that.
No preconceptions of what I was gonna play or even the style.

No you are not seeing things!
If you had told me at any point in the last 30 years that I would get to play b2b with the person that made so much of the music that I played back in 97/98 I’d have maybe peeeeeeed laughing.

With over 350 releases under his belt and over 950 DJ gigs around the world there is no doubt Jeremy Sylvester is one of the godfathers of UK garage.

Jeremy is a DJ who is capable of covering a vast...

Week two on VBR and it's guest mix time!
Joining me on the show this week was DJ em_laa (Emma McGuigan).  As the name suggests she is in fact Irish.  Em spent her Uni years in the heart of clubland, Liverpool and Manchester through the 90's and 00's.  Now calling Sydney home for the last 2 years it's time to test the local scene and showcase her skills.
Em played alone for the first hour to maximise your exposure to ...
