Two Idiots and a Dog

Two Idiots discuss movies and media in an effort to make a better life for their dog. Meet the Dog: Kaiju is the brains of the operation. Best guess she is a Black Mouth Cur mix, she came in to Zolgar's life when his mother found her on the street. Zolgar agreed to keep her temporarily. Kaiju promptly declared that Zolgar belonged to her and he was powerless to argue. We tried to have Kaiju on the podcast, but she kept eating the microphones. She's also not very opinionated about movies. Meet the Idiots: Grimm is a giant nerd and professional dork whose passions include fiction, gaming, and unchecked chaotic world building. Since he has OpinionsTM on most media, this seemed a good fit. Zolgar is a media junky who grew up on a diet of scifi movies and fantasy novels, which may explain why he never really grew up. He has an unhealthy love of terrible sci-fi and creature feature films, which he loves inflicting upon Grimm. Shark movies especially hold a special place in his heart.

You asked for it, and we delivered. Six ideas for movies straight out of the Idiots' heads!

This idea originally came up during the big Hollywood writer's strike, we joked about pitching our own ideas to Hollywood. (We would never actually scab like that though, and the folks on our Discord decided it sounded like a good idea...

So here we have a few ideas, mostly coming from our writing folders, that we think would make ...

Join the Idiots at they discuss some media properties they feel are under represented in the video game market.

There are tons of amazing games out there, and tons of amazing media properties. Even tons of amazing games based on amazing media properties...

But there are some media properties that never seemed to get a good video game adaptation, and we think that's a crime, so we decided to talk about it.

Now can someone tell m...

Join the Idiots, a little late to the party as usual, as they discuss the Game Awards, which much to Zolgar's chagrin don't include tabletop games.

We're back! Finally. The Idiots managed to both get sick at the same time and it took longer than expected for them to recover, but don't worry they're still just as stupid as ever!

This week, the Idiots talk about the Game Awards. Well, Grimm talks about the Game Aw...

Join the Idiots as they discuss the toxicity and general bullheadedness of a certain subset of media fans.

We've all been there. We've been excited about a piece of media, or we've been pissed off at a piece of media, or anywhere in between. We've probably said some things that maybe shouldn't have been said, or at least should have been phrased better.

Most of us try to be cognizant about this behavior tho...

Join the Idiots as they discuss the remake/reboot/reimagining of the 1998 anime icon, Trigun.

We were a little hesitant about Trigun Stampede when we first heard about it. Grimm especially had some 'old bun yells at clouds' moments with the design choices and the animation style.

But we decided to sit down and watch it and, spoiler alert, we're both very glad we did. Released early in 2023, Trigun Stampede tells a new v...

Join the Idiots as they discuss the age old question: Are video games art?

Since the dawn of time, or at least the dawn of video games, people have denied that they are art, dismissed them as a medium for telling deep and meaningful stories.

Somehow, despite many examples to the contrary that are available today, some still argue this point. Some still refuse to accept that video games are just as legitimate a media for conveying s...

Join the Idiots as they discuss one of their favorite topics: tabletop RPGs, specifically the myriad of options that aren't Dungeons and Dragons.

The Idiots each have more than two decades experience with tabletop roleplaying games, having both run and played a wide variety of games. While their opinion on Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition differs these days, both find themselves irritated at the frequency at which people d...

Join the Idiots as they answer the trending question "When did my favorite media franchise get political?"

We've all heard the question or seen it on social media. When did Star Wars get so political, when did Star Trek get so political, when did comic books get so political. Feels like every week they're complaining about how yet another property has been 'ruined by a political agenda'.

Well, we...

Join the Idiots as they pretend to be smart and discuss the concepts of heroes, villains, antiheroes, antagonists and protagonists.

We've all been there, talking about our favorite antiheroes and some uneducated turnip says their favorite antihero is Darth Vader or some shit. Well, Grimm is sick of it and Zolgar has Opinions on the matter too, so here we are.

Also, did you know we're on the YouTubes now?

Join the Idiots as they discuss one of the most common tropes in pop-culture and media, the One Person Army.

It never fails. Thousands of enemies, hopeless odds, the fate of the world or something of equally dire importance hangs in the balance. Entire armies fail, and then one person rises up and does the impossible. It's been a staple of stories for probably as long as stories have been told.

So, we decided we were definitely...

Join the Idiots as they discuss some of the technologies of Star Trek, and the (oft terrifying) real world ramifications thereof.

We love Star Trek, we love the bright shiny virtually utopian future it shows us, where humans have matured as a species to the point where we exist as a singular species instead of thousands of little nations warring over resources or religion... but let's be honest, that's also how we know it&#...

Join the Idiots as they discuss the best 2022 Finnish film about a gold miner killing Nazis that they have seen this year, Sisu!

Released in 2022, and finding its way to American cinemas in 2023, Sisu is a bloody, violent one-man-army type action movie featuring a lot of brutal Nazi kills. In short, it's a blast and if you haven't seen it yet, you should fix that. Starring Jorma Tommila, Aksel Hennie, Jack Doolan, Mimosa Wi...

Join the Idiots and special guest Cody from Robots Don't Age as they discuss the Terminator franchise in a long overdue episode.

Released in 1984, with an excellent cast, the original Terminator was an awesome story of (wo)man vs. machine, with a simple and effective formula. It could be argued though that it didn't really take off until 1991 with Terminator 2: Judgement Day which really captured the interest of audien...

Released in 2023 and starring Nicholas Cage, Nicholas Hoult, Awkwafina and an exceptionally talented supporting cast, including none other than Sonic the Hedgehog, I mean Ben Schwartz. Join the Idiots as they discuss the strange, stylistic action movie named after puppet theater, Bunraku.

Released in 2010, starring Josh Hartnett, Woody Harrelson, Demi Moore, Gackt, and the legendary Ron Perlman, this hyper stylistic action film has largely been forgotten. It's strange, and humorous at times, featuring aesthetics pulled heavily from Japanese puppet theater, or Bunraku. It's a story of vengeance, romance, b...
