R party. You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. Oh yeah,

(00:42):
it is The Odd Couple. I'm Chris Brusson alongside my

show we have for you today? We're back together again.

(01:03):
I've been in New Jersey and New York doing some television.
First things first, I'm back on the Left coast with
my man, Rod park I'm excited. I love being with
you man, the energy and all that. It's great to
have you back since some of us had to work,
you know, and I was you really want to go there? Yeah,
We're gonna go down. Was doing radio from seven pm

(01:25):
to ten pm Eastern, getting up in two thirty so
I could go to a four thirty a year meeting
for first things First, so don't I've been trying it.
Three hours of sleep. Brother was doing well. I literally
did one of the shows on hardly any sleep because
I was tossing and turning all night, couldn't sleep. Something happened, nothing,

(01:45):
but my family had to get up take care of
some of that. I got no sleep, but I persevered,
did the show and made it back and went back
home and took a heck of a nap. I understand. Yeah, no,
I've been hours. I've been trying to hold it down
since you've been gone, you know what I mean, filling in,
doing a little triple duty. But it's all good. Good

(02:07):
to have him back. It's great to be back. Man.
Your your holidays was good. Mine was great. Yea fantastic holiday. Yeah,
everything was cool, everything was fun. Well. We got a
special celebrity corner coming up at the bottom of the hour.
It's great to get good guests. This is a guy,
he's an actor. Uh. Some people may know him from

(02:29):
some of the shows he's done. He was in the
movie Jump in the Broom and several other things. So
I'm excited to have him on and we'll get with him.
Obviously a lot of NFL but also some NBA. Did
you jump when you got married? Didn't? We didn't, That
would be like your style. I'm surprised because we are
an afrocentric family, That's what I mean. But yeah, we didn't.

(02:50):
I don't. I don't know why we didn't. To be honest, well,
y'all got married forty years ago, so it probably wasn't
as much as style. Almost twenty five, twenty five, twenty
four years unbelievable. Yeah, yep, going strong. All right, let's
get right to it. We wouldn't be able to do
this fine radio program without him. Of course. Rob g

(03:11):
is our producer, Alex working triple time man over the holiday. Rob,
we are the hardest working man in radio. There we
are where that due. When I've been doing the DP show,
DJ Alex Tisher wasn't around and I was the herd
one show, and I didn't know I did two shows.
I didn't the Day Passage Show twice and one day

(03:33):
I did that and the Eye Couple and DJ Alex
Tisher either show. So stop it, wow, crash and that's right.
Alex got the hair grease back. I like it very
nice you getting like t J. Houshman, Zaida Man. Steve
is at the anchor desk, he'll keep us updated throughout
the program. And Elijah, our social media guru uh is

(03:58):
here as well. So they were all on the other
side of the glass. Come on, Chris Bussard on this
TV theme song Thursday, let's kick some at Let's do
just that. And look, we go over our notes, you know,
before the show, and we talk topics and both of
us chime in. We have some ideas we may email
in texting or talk about when we meet and Rob,

(04:21):
you know, I love you, but you have a take
that I just think it's ridiculous. I think it's self serving.
I think it's to support your narrative that a year
long with the Green Bay Packers and for this is

(04:42):
the take. For you to sit here and say that
of all the quarterbacks in the playoffs, Aaron Rogers has
the least amount of pressure on him, that is ludicrous.
I can't believe you w even fix your mouth to
say that. It makes it's hard to believe you believe that.

(05:05):
It makes perfect sense when you look at this team
and what they've done this year, how balanced this team
is they were three and oh when he didn't throw
a touchdown this year, which was impossible in years gone by.
The years ago they were aiding one against good teams.
They won other ways. This is not just about Aaron Rodgers. Finally,

(05:27):
it's about Aaron Jones. It's about the Smiths on defense.
That's fine. He had nineteen touchdowns and he can score.
Then all I'm telling about to be Ezekiel Elliott. It
ain't about all I'm saying. They won all year. They
were thirteen and three with Aaron Rodgers having them good season,

(05:50):
good season, say it good seeing you. You know what.
He has had a good season. He was a pro bowler,
he had, he had a good sea. And all I'm
saying is that there are other guys who have way
more pressure, but Aaron Rodgers I believe he has. He
doesn't have any pressure. Okay, this is about going out

(06:11):
and playing. Everybody's written him off. Bucky Brooks has told
you he's broken down and no good. Aaron Rodgers had
three games each year, so nobody's gonna be expecting anything
from Aaron Rodgers this year. We'll just wait and see
for the playoffs. He has no pressure he can go
out there. He ain't got to score forty points. He
don't have to throw five touchdowns. They've been winning all

(06:32):
year without that. For the first time, he can just
go out and play football without knowing that without you,
there's no way they can win. And that's what he
always went into every year and every postseason. Okay, if
you're saying that they have a fairly balanced team, that's
what I'm now, He's got other you know, the defense

(06:53):
can not only on him, right, Okay, that's one thing.
Also now agree, No, I don't agree. But if you're
if you're saying that should they lose first, I'm saying,
okay that nobody, there's not gonna be any problem. Oh
the Packers they were thirteen three day lost their first
playoff game. It's okay. I mean when you say no,

(07:16):
because the pressure comes from the media, the fans, the perception. No,
But that's what I'm saying. I agree with you that
they got a balance squad. This is different for him
Ryan for every game he's gonna have to be Aaron Rodgers.
I'm not saying something. I'm not saying that he can
go and not have a touchdown and they win. A
playoff game. All I'm saying is, this is not the

(07:37):
Aaron Rodgers team that has given up forty or more
points four or five times in a postseason and Aaron
has to throw a some hail Mary touchdown in order
to tie the game or win the game at the
end because the defense gave it up. This is a different,
well balanced team, And I'm telling you he doesn't go
in with that burden of knowing if I don't have

(07:58):
a record setting day not winning a playoff this Tom Brady,
You've said that all year, right, he won a super
Bowl last year without throwing the touchdown. No, Tom Brady
has doesn't have to be spectacular. Oh he has to
be better than he has been because he don't have Rogers.
They're gonna win a super Bowl. I told he's gonna
have to give us one of those vintage air R

(08:20):
least one we saw the last time we saw Jimmy
Arrooppolo have to do it all for the forty nine Ers. No,
the argument is this, Roy Parker, if if if Patrick
Mahomes doesn't get to the super Bowl, nobody's gonna rip him.
Yes they will. He's in this second year as a starter,
that's all right. Years a start the Super Bowl and

(08:44):
Dan Marino is praised. Dan Mareno was one of the
ten quarterbacks of all time because of that second year. Well,
he's didn't win anything. Didn't we bet that? You said
he was gonna have forty or more touchdowns? He finished
with twenty. He got hurt. That's the reason why. That's
the reason why he got hurt. Are you sure? Why
are you leaving the discussion because you know I'm right?

(09:07):
Because you hold on there's no pressure on Patrick rule,
there's no pressure on lawn. Is anybody gonna kill Ryan Tannehill?
When if they lose the first game? No? Yes, and
gets team don't most people do not expect them to

(09:29):
beat the Patriots? Whynot the Patriots? And it's in Foxborough
and they haven't lost the home playoff game in years.
All I'm saying is this notion that there's no pressure
that the question was that the question? That's what I
was told. Did you said he has the least amount

(09:49):
of pressure least? That doesn't mean no, Okay, there's more pressure.
If Aaron Rodgers doesn't get to the super Bowl, he
will get criticized more than if the Sean Watson totally
and if and if and if Lamar Jackson fizzles and
can't win, right, say they fall behind and they can't

(10:10):
run the football and they gotta throw and he can't
do it. Everybody in their uncle will point and say, see,
I told you a running quarterback can't winning the playoffs
or can't get to the super Bowl. He has more
pressure because they had an unbelievable season and people expect
this to continue the postseason. It doesn't matter, it does,

(10:32):
it doesn't. Nobody expected Lebrons and Jamia James didn't make
the playoffs his second year and totally different And no
it's not. I mean Dak Prescott was getting praised for
just winning a few games and getting Dallas to the playoffs,
even though they didn't get to a super Bowl. I
think Jacksons wins he ever won, h the same thing.

(10:54):
It's the same thing. He doesn't have the same pressure
because their team is beat up and battered and if
they were somehow so were able to win the playoff game,
he would be on another plays which doesn't have everybody
knows pay completed pressure. I would say, I think, I
wouldn't say, I wouldn't put him in the category. Like
I said, my homes Watson, he stayed health. They won

(11:16):
their last four games to get in. People have already
said Carson wouldn't showed us something this year. Would you
agree with that? Yes, but he showed. The problem is
the standard he's following Nick Foles, who won a Super
Bowl in Philadelphia. You know are in Philadelphia. They're not rational.
You know that they're not gonna say, oh, Carson showed

(11:37):
us something. He beat the Cowboys and the Giants at
the end of the season, and the Redskins and you
know these weak sisters that they played against. I know
he did it with with beat up you know, a
beat up roster, and I'll give you. I'll give you that.
It's not the most pressure in the world on him.
I'm just saying the seat here and act like if

(11:57):
the Green Bay Packers lose their first or second what
I said, say anything about. People already talking about Aaron
Rodgers wondering where's the old Aaron Rodgers? Why did he
only have three or four games of three hundred or
more yards? Why do you have so many games with
zero or one touchdown? And Rogers carry him if they

(12:18):
lose in the playoffs. You don't think people are gonna
start saying that. I'm talking about going into the playoffs.
He doesn't have to feel like I got us put
up forty points in five touchdowns to give my team
a chance to win. That but not news. That's what
it is. New. This is new for him. This is
my point. That's why couldn't it done and they had
to do it was always about him. You know that

(12:40):
it'll give you that you don't have to do that
this year and they can still win. They were when
he didn't throw a touchdown. It's just different for Aaron Rodgers.
San Francisco can do the same thing. Garoppolo wasn't carrying
them all the time. I'm just saying, there's okay, So
you're not saying that he won't be critics will be criticized. Okay.

(13:02):
That's where That's what pressure is. That's what pressure is.
Pressure is at having you know, I just don't see
it as having a balanced team. But let's see what
you guys say. Eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox
eight seven seven nine nine six sixty three sixty nine.
How much pressure is Aaron Rodgers under heading into the
playoffs and are there other quarterbacks with more pressure on them.

(13:25):
We'll continue the conversation with you. Next, it's The A
Couple of Fox Sports Radio RelA. Be sure to catch
live editions of The Odd Couple with Chris Broussard and
Rob Parker weekdays at seven pm Eastern four pm Pacific
on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeart Radio app. Man,
It's a TV theme song Thursday, my man Alex always

(13:46):
looking out for me and Chris. Today we could do
the official countdown of the Golden Girls cruise. When now?
When is it? It's about fifty nine days from now.
Serious Bebary in February, late February. So you're taking off again?
What do you mean what? You just went to an artist?

(14:07):
I just worked a Christmas and New Year. Just say
working four times. He works four times a day for
a week and then it takes off ten days. I'm not.
I'm not taking off ten day. You take it off,
taking off another week to go to it on the
cruise and a bunch of senior citizens, I mean, one
of you. But I'm gonna do live hits from there.

(14:28):
I'll be working. We're gonna do. I'm gonna do a
live hit. You don't want to know anything about that.
You're hitting right on this cruise right after right after
dinner at four o'clock, I'll call in hit. No one
will and no none of that. All right, it is
the couple, and we got great news for you. There's
a quick and easy way you could say money. Who

(14:50):
doesn't want to do that? Switch the guy Coode. It
only takes fifteen minutes because if you can say fifteen
percent of more on your car and shoes, go to
geco dot com and see how much you can save.
All right, we threw it out to you. Rob thinks
there's no pressure on Aaron Rodgers in these playoffs. I
think there's a lot of Okay, he thinks there's a
very tiny amount. Yes, I think there's a lot of
pressure because people are saying he's not the same Aaron

(15:11):
Rodgers and if they get beat early then it's gonna
I think there's more Lamar Jackson because people have been
saying that you can't win a title. Nobody nobody playing
that way. Chiship right like him? Well, all right, let's
go to Matt and Seattle, Yo with Chris and Rob. Matt.
Welcome to the Eye Cover, Hey fellas, that guys doing
to the not too bad enough spat. So I gotta man,

(15:34):
I gotta disagree with you strongly, Rob. And this is why,
this is why of all the teams in the playoffs,
only four and a half quarterbacks have won a Super
Bowl if you call a count Wentz. And of those
four and a half quarterbacks, only one has a buy.
And so it's expected out of Aaron Rodgers to win

(15:56):
and win at home. And if somebody knocks off Sam's friend,
he has three games at Lambo, sorry, two games at
Lambo before the Super Bowl. If he can't win those
two games, I mean, what is it to be said
at that point? No, but but I think, Matt, you're
you're missing You're missing my point on Aaron Rodgers. In
the past he's had to do everything because he didn't

(16:20):
have a defense and he didn't have a running game.
This is the most balanced Packers team I've ever seen.
But that's why it's even more so because he's expected
to win, he doesn't. I don't think they's never really
gotten blamed, right, I don't think. I don't think this
prussure the other one blame. I don't look at it
that one they don't get if they don't win, he'll
get blamed because he's gonna get blamed anyway because he's

(16:42):
a quarterback. So I get that part, but I don't
I think going in quarterback, think going in he didn't
have the same prussure of always where he couldn't he
had to almost be perfect because he didn't have the defense.
That's all I'm saying. He could just go out and play.
All right, Let's go to Joe in Louisiana. Joe, you're
with the Eye Couple. Hey, what's on our cover? Thanks
for having me on. Thank you guys, do a fabulous

(17:02):
job for a sound calling long Thanks what part of Louisiana. Hey,
I'm in Monroe, Louisiana, Great Northeast very night. I was
born in Baton rouge. Okay, that's what's going on saying.
I want to just say that you guys, I missed
the news on this because no neutral fan of Aaron Rodgers, Joe,
make a stand, take a stand, No neutral, We don't

(17:24):
do the neutral. Oh man, ro Come on, man. As
much as I respect you, man, I gotta you gotta
call it many every every blue moon. You can be neutral. Joe,
just pick a side. It's all good. Hey, if he loses,
he's gonna get the blame every then. What's that That's

(17:47):
called pressure? That's pressure? All right? There you go, good
call Joe, call you know what Christian arts something else.
Stephen Columbus, Ohio, you're on the y cover Fox Sports Radio.
You you pushed him into that. Hey, Steve, thank you,
Happy New Year too. There you go, there you go.

(18:09):
So I'm gonna have to I'm gonna have to side
with uh with Chris on this one. I mean, Aaron
Rodgers has all the pressure. Aaron Jones is kicking booty,
their old line is and their defense is playing well
against horrible teams, but nothing like, nothing like they did
in twenty tenants all on Aaron Rodgers. He hasn't been
able to get the ball anywhere to any receiver. I
think it's his time to shine him. This is when

(18:30):
he needs it. Excellent cost, Steve. That's Steve. I'm too bad.
You're in Columbus and you just don't get it. Honest.
One day you'll have a football team in Ohio, prof
state US that profile state gets it done. Jason in Kentucky,
you're on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio what's up?
Except for last week? They what's up? Buddy? Aint not much? Hey,

(18:53):
I think there's more pressure on Lamar Jackson. I think
everybody has basically assumed they're gonna win it, and the
datas are gonna say I told you so. Yeah, they
don't win it, and I think the pickers have kind
of flown under the radar all years. One of the
top teams, so I don't think they're expected to really
to win the Super Bowl. Nobody is picking them to
get to the Super Bowl three. Nobody's picking them. Jason,

(19:13):
You're you're picking them. I'm I'm a Packers fan, but
I think Matt la Flora is supposed to be this
offensive genius and I haven't seen it all year, so
I'm more curious as to see what he can do.
So because I think the defensive has won him a
lot of games, but if not being because of him. Yeah, alright,

(19:34):
Jason appreciate picked them, Rob No, I'm just saying Nick
Wright picked them, did he really? He picked up before
he's got No, he's got them getting to the super Bowl. Yeah,
before the years before them, though, Well, I think he
picked them to get to the super Bowl. You got
him winning it. Yeah, I got them winning. That was
gonna picking nobody. You said nobody. I'm just saying nobody
else's you ain't trying to do. You know what I

(19:59):
said to Skip And the other day I reminded him
of the bet we made before the season that it
was nothing AFC championship that wasn't going out. Kevin and Philly, Kevin,
you're on with Chris and Rob, Hey, fellas, really appreciate
you guys. Let me talk to you for a minute.
I actually think Carson Wentz has the biggest pressure. But

(20:19):
going with your debate, Rob and with you, I got
Lamar Miller, Lamar Jackson. And the main reason Christ is
because the minute this kid falls, minute something goes wrong,
the first narrative is going to come out is that
you can't win with a running quarterback. And even though
they have got to, they've got the infrastructure around him
with three great tight ends, with a great running game

(20:39):
with Mark Ingram that takes a lot of the pressure
off of him. The minute he stumbles and falls, then
the naysayers are gonna come up with that I told
you so, and he has you think, Roger, I agree,
Lamar Will get critics he has. He has twelve Pro
bowlers on that team, like they gotta win. He's they
gotta win. He will get criticized, but he's in his

(21:02):
second years to start, not even the second full year
year and a half he's been a starter. Aaron Rodgers
will get criticized if Kevin still wins. I want to
hear you give it. Tell us about Wins because there
is a school of that that you know, hey, he's
doing it with a bunch of beat up guys. I'm
glad because I wanted to say to you, my honest

(21:22):
feeling is that your national guys, your narrative on Eagles
fans are so wrong. It's just you got to live
off of what's happened in the past. Years ago. He
got my grandfather and grandfather different thing. The thing with
Wins is he's playing great ball right now with a
bunch of no name guys and the fact that the
cancer I'll shun Jeffrey isn't playing. But the fact that

(21:43):
Nelson Aguilar isn't playing, He's got young guys on that
field that want to play that when up believing him,
and that when we're playing so good, I'm sant that
on first things first all week. But the fact that
that that Folds won the Super Bowl, isn't that pressure
on wins? That's not what this roster. But I'm not

(22:04):
saying it'll get a lot of credit for an ATA boy. No,
no, no no, but but but I don't think you when
all those guys hurt, if they're losing the playff, they'll
be live. They will undemand he won't get killed. But okay,
he won't. They won't love him in Philly, all right.
Our next guest is starred in two of the biggest
movie franchises in Hollywood history, and he also happens to

(22:24):
be a long suffering Redskins fan. Wow laz Alonzo joins
our celebrity corner next, but first. Fox Sports Radio has
the best sports talk lineup in the nation. Catch all
of our shows at Fox Sports Radio dot com and

We already a couple coming you live from the Geico

(22:45):
Fox Sports Radio studios. It is easy to say fifteen
percent of more on your car insurers with Geico. Go
to Geico dot com or call eight hundred and nine
four seven Auto. The only hard part is figuring out
which way is easier. It's time for celebrity corners. God,
I know, for the odd couples, celebrity corners. This week's

(23:11):
guest on celebrity Corner. I mean, the resume is stacked, stomped,
the yard jump in the broom. He was an avatar,
which obviously is a historic movie. Fast and the Furious series.
I mean, which one number nineteen, A lot of them,
A lot of them, all right, but here we're excited
to have him more. And he also before he got

(23:34):
into acting, Rob, he worked on Wall Street Wow, So
he knows acting, he knows finance. I don't know if
he knows sports though, because he's a long time Redskins fan.
I would just get another team. But let's welcome in
Lives allions or what's up? Brother's up? What's up? What's up?
What's up? Were all was going on? We're doing great
to have you one man. Hey, look, before we start off,

(23:55):
I gotta address two things. One to Rob. I was
in i'sn Furious for the movie that saved the franchise,
all right, all right, when Vin Diesel came back, and
then the Chris. I obviously don't know sports because I'm
a Redskins fan, miserable for the last twenty years of
my life. You grew up in dcizoo. That's the only

(24:16):
reason I grew up. When the Redskins were kicking button
taking names. Yeah, Charles Man, that's the manly Joe Tiemann Riggins.
Like the glory is. You know, it's unbelievable when you see, yeah,
how bad it is and the empty seats and there
used to be a waiting list, and the and the
hogs and all that other stuff. I mean, it was happening.

(24:39):
And how hard is it to root for your team
and see what's going on. Well, I'm gonna tell you, man,
for the first time in my entire life, this season,
I took a different approach. I rooted against my team. Wow,
you have no idea how hard it was to root
against my team. But I knew that the only way
Dan Snide was gonna make any significant changes is if

(25:03):
the fan base was so loud and fire Bruce Allen
that hashtag. If you look at my Twitter feed, it's
all fire Bruce Allen every single week of this season.
And I got I made a lot of enemies from
our own fan base who were mad at me, calling
me a fair weather fan, telling me I'm not a

(25:24):
real fan, right, But I felt like it was my
responsibility to speak up for the players because we've had
amazing players played for that squad in the last ten years.
That would have been super Bowl. They would they would
have rings, Santana Moss, you know what I'm saying. That
were true talent, but they wasted their best years of

(25:47):
their life playing for a team who's whose management did
not share the same winning attitude that the players on
the field. You hated, Bruce Allen, you got you got
it done. Let me ask you, how do you feel
I'm gonna ask you about two people, Ron Rivera obviously
the new head coach, and Dwayne Haskins the quarterback in
the future. How do you like both of them or dislike?

(26:08):
So I'd like to start off with Dwayne Haskins. That's
another point of contention that I argue with Redskins fans
about who try to criticize the young man who got
thrown in in the middle of the season, never took
a rep with the first team, got thrown in in
the middle of the game, was never developed by Jake Ruden.

(26:28):
This kid was basically put to the side, and I
saw what he did the RG three. If you don't
fit in his system exactly the way a square peg
would sit in a square system that can't score in
the red zone. By the way, because Alex Smith, Alex
Smith couldn't score in the red zone and Jake Ruden's
offense neither Kirk Cousins. Look at how he balled out
this season. So it's a quarterbacks go to die under

(26:52):
Jake Ruden's offensive schemes. Okay, and to put this kid,
he didn't design a playbook to ease him into the league.
Take his strength, and let's amplify his strength. So I
already knew I didn't want him to play. Everybody was like,
let's put it the kid in, let's put hasslet's I
didn't want him to play because A I knew Gruden

(27:13):
was on his way out, and B I didn't want
him to ruin his confidence by throwing him in an
offense that's not designed to bring out the best in
the place. And it's gotta be rough because Washington has
become the DC has become the championship city in sports America.
Right the Nationals won the World series, the Capitols won

(27:33):
their first Stanley Cup, right and the NBA you got
the Wizards and the Redskins are the only problem. But
it's been good times in DC, hasn't it? Sports wise?
Dan Snyder? Dan Snyder needed to have egg on his face.
And it took a three and thirteen season and see
all the other teams in DC now become the face

(27:56):
of DC for him to realize that he had to
make a big chains and what he's been doing up
until now, the fans didn't matter. And this season, finally
the fans matter. Now. You live out you live out
here in LA now and you're big basketball fan. The
big question in town is Lakers or Clippers? Who you

(28:17):
riding with? Who's the better team? I thought it was
Maryann or Ginger? No, is that not the big question?
I'm sorry, Robs. Want to be long that you can hold.
You can have it. Rob, I'm saying my name is Bennett.
I'm not in it as I got you. Um. But
you know what, man, I really really love Kauai. I

(28:38):
love PG. I love the energy that they brought to
this city. I love that they came in doc Rivers.
You know, everybody's an underdog, but they're humble. There's no
sense of entitlement in that team. It's just hard work,
their workhorses. Now I love Lebron and a D two,
don't get it twisted. I'm not from this city, so
I don't have an emotional connection to either team. I

(28:59):
just love LA basketball. You know, I love what it
stands for in the league. I love what Magic Johnson
stood for. You know, Kareem Shock. You know, these are
all Lakers. But for the first time, I think ever,
we get we get to witness a possible changing of
the guard as to who claims LA Basketball. However, yeah,

(29:22):
that is. How about the big topic in the NBA
two this year is the load management. You notice, you
you make movies, people gotta go pay to see it.
You know, there's paying customers. And in the NBA, you know,
some guys think, well, I need to take some time
off and not play back to back as a fan.
And the guy who's paid money to go to games.

(29:43):
Where are you on that load management? Do you understand
it or does it bother you? Because I have a
problem with it. If you'd asked me this question ten
years ago, I'd have had a problem with it. But
once you hit forty you understand load management. They ain't
forty years old like Kawas taking load management the first
weekend at season. But here's the thing, here's the thing,

(30:06):
all right. So in my business, right you'll turn on
like one of my shows and you'll see me do
some crazy stuff. Some of that stuff. I may have
done some of that stuff. There's a stunt man that
does it look good. The only reason that you stunt
man is because you got a load manage your star.
You can't afford him getting hurt doing a stunt. Now,

(30:26):
you gotta shut the production down down for two or
three months till we can get back on his feet.
That's really low manage LOLd management. I think that's not
a bad I think that's apples in orange is. I
get where you're going though, but we'll we'll have to
agree to disagree on that one. Let me let me
ask you this a two part question. One were you
an athlete growing up? What sports did you play? And two? Uh,

(30:50):
do you do you if you could play any athlete
like in a movie? Do you do you desire to
do like a sports movie? And who? What athlete would
you want to portray? So I grew up in boxing
and taekwondo back when. Yeah, see, I was an only child,
so my mom she put me in sports that I
could defend myself. Uh because you know, she said, you

(31:12):
don't got an older brother to call when means get rough,
and DC at the time was the murder capital of
the US. Yeah, he was like, so I'm not raising
a boy that's gonna be getting chased home from school
every day. You got to be able to defend your
coat that I spent money buying, and those boots that
you wear, and if she bought you some Jordan's, hey
they I saw many guys in New York growing up

(31:33):
go home with in socks. You know, I tell you something, man,
I got. I got my big wheel taken one time,
and she stopped me at the door, turned me around
and told me, go get your big wheel because he
didn't steal it from you. He stole it from me.
I paid for it. Did you go get that change?
That changed my entire way of looking at it. I
was like, this guy stole my mother's big deal, right

(31:54):
and he and he paid for it? All right? All right?
But anyway, so, yeah, so I grew up in I'm
bad sports man, and I still do them to this day.
I still box, still practice martial arts. I've added some
jiu jitsu into the mix. Um that's my thing. But uh,
as far as I would think, you know, I almost did.

(32:15):
At the time, there was a production company out here.
They wanted me to play um uh, the baseball player
from Puerto Rico. What's the brother's names. My name had
been thrown around in the mix for years to do
that film, and for one reason or another, it never
came to pass. But that was something that I was

(32:37):
passionate about because he was such a powerful humanitarian. Was
bigger than just sport. He was Wasn't that like New
Year's Eve? Was going to take stuff to help people,
was taking stuff, supplies to help people that I think
they were some kind of natural disaster and the plane
went down. Yeah, tragic, tragic story. Well, laz A Linzo,

(32:58):
excellent job, brother. We had a lot of fun talking
with you. And you in LA. We invite guys to
come in spend an hour with us in from the studio. Yeah,
let men, Yeah, okay, we'll do that. We'll rob Yeah,
I'll come in. Oh and I forgot to tell you
Ron Rivera. I'm very excited about him. He's gonna change
the culture in DC sports. I am. I am predicting

(33:20):
that this year in the NFC, the entire NFC East
is gonna make up for what we've been doing for
the last few seasons because we've been so y'all making
the playoffs. I'm not gonna go there because all right,
I just want to make sure if we need an
old line, you know we need. We're changing to a
four three defense after being a three four for over

(33:40):
ten years, so there's gonna be some growing pain, but
I do see us being more competitive than we've been
in a very long time. All Right. This is the
great actor Lisa Linzo. He's currently starring in The Boys
on Amazon Prime, and I'm gonna want to show on
Amazon there it is The Boys. You gotta check it
out Amazon Prime and La fin Us Spectrum. So you

(34:01):
got a lot of stuff in the works, brother, and
we'll be watching and again we will get you in
the studio and have you in us in with the
odd couple. Man. We appreciate the time. Thank you, gentlemen,
appreciate being here. Yes, brother, piece, someone in sports is
on the verge of making a thirty million dollar mistake.
We'll explain next as the Eye Couple of Fox Sports Radio.

(34:21):
Who me be sure to catch live editions of The
Odd Couple with Chris Brusar and Rob Parker weekdays at
seven pm Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio
and the iHeart Radio app. All right, folks, it is
the Eye Couple of Chris Brussard and Rob Parker on
a TV theme show Thursday. All right, let's get to

(34:41):
this quick, Rob, we don't have too much time for it.
But to a tagliavola your time. I know, I didn't
say it totally got to I was close, though, to
a tonga viola. All right, viola to vla tonga vloa. Rob. Monday,
he's gonna let us know whether or not he's going

(35:03):
to go to the NFL Draft or stay at Alabama.
A few other players, right, Rob, G top flight players
have decided to stay at Alabama, and people are now
starting to think that Tua might do the same. I'm
sure Nick Saban is telling them, Look, you guys do
not want to go out like this. Two losses, you know,

(35:25):
not in the playoffs. You come to Alabama. You're supposed
to win championships and be in the playoff every year.
I'm sure that's the sale, But I'm sorry. If I'm Ta,
I gotta go to the NFL. You can risk injury.
And you know Robinson every sport. The more they see you,
they're gonna scrutinize him to death. All the flaws, everything

(35:49):
that you gotta go, every little flaw, they're gonna, they're gonna.
Don't think Ta has a decision because this whole notion
that he wants. You know that the scouts in the
front office, people need to see him play again, him,
see him healthy. No, you've already been hurt twice. If
you go out there again and get hurt, you wanna

(36:09):
talk about leaving money on the table. You won't be
anywhere you will be. You won't be anywhere exactly already
are to a somebody. But somebody will take a chance, though, Chris,
because of because of the where there's a you know,
the risk reward kind of thing, and they might go,
we got lucky because he got hurt. Other people passed
on him. We grabbed him. He got healthy. Don't forget guys,

(36:32):
get healthy. When Matthew Stafford first came to the Lions.
He got hurt his first couple of years, Chris Right,
he kept getting hurt and everybody's like, oh, he hadn't
been hurt in eight or nine years. Now, I'm just saying,
you could get out of that, So you gotta take
a chance, but you can't play. You can't afford to
get hurt again. That is really where he is too.

(36:55):
Him would be crazy to go back to Alabama. Crazy.
He talked about looking at the money situation, which I'm
not mad at him about. I'm glad he's being honest
because that is a big deal. But if he goes
at the top of the draft, rob first, the first
number one pick gets a thirty five million dollar contract,
twenty three and a half million guaranteed. The fifth pick

(37:18):
you got twenty nine million dollar contract, nineteen million guaranteed.
Now where do you think he would Let's say he
goes fifteenth. That's fourteen and a half million on your contract,
only eight point eight guaranteed. So I get where he's saying.
He was thinking, Look, if I come out next year
in college and have a wonderful year, I'm maybe winning

(37:41):
the highs when I'm the best quarterback. I think that
would be hard though, because people love Trevor Lawrence and
then Justin Fields a lot of people love him as well.
They'll both be there next year. But let's say he's thinking,
I can go number one a year from now and
get my twenty five million guaranteed, or I can go
this year and maybe I only end up getting six

(38:02):
or eight million guarantees. So I get that. But there's
a few things. One you, if you go lower in
this draft, Rob, you may be doing yourself a favor.
You may go to a better team. You may not
go to a bad team and being a bad situation
where they can't protect you and you wind up getting
beat up and battered right because the offensive line is bad.

(38:25):
So I agree with that. You might wind up going
to a middle of the pack team or or team
that's ready that all they need is a quarterback exactly
saying so, and then you'll be in line for that
huge contract your second year. So I think he has
to look at that. I'm with you, Rob, you gotta
come out. I'm sorry, yeah, And I know Nick is
gonna be selling him hard. And then the second refined

(38:46):
another quarterback, and the second if you go on a
second round Chris, you could get paid quicker because you're not.
You're not locked in, right, You're not locked into that
rookie deal that the first rounders get. Ye looking Lamar Jackson.
He fell and it worked out out perfectly for it.
All right, it's the Eye Couple. Chris Bruce Ar Rob Parker,
two hours left. You know what to do? Keep it locked.

sixty eight on a Graham All right, we'll be joined

(39:52):
by our good buddy joins us every week. He won
a Super Bowl, so this is his time of year
the postseason. He's also a Fox NFL analyst and a
budding bodybuilder. He won't let that go. We're in the
new year. Seed music is his Steve music man. He's like,

(40:12):
it's twenty and I'm still going through that. I'm not
gonna do any bodybuilding jokes. But he will hear his
theme music. I want muscles. He's gonna have to muscles.
We gotta think of some of the great muscles theme songs.
What other ones are there? We'll come up with some more.
But that one's great though. That was perfect. That's great,
Diana Ross, that good again. Let's hear that is so perfect.

(40:40):
I ain't gonna say all right. He will join us
at the bottom of the hour. We're gonna stick with
the NFL and rob Two teams that have really been
disasters for the last two Deacs Gaids are showing us

(41:02):
why right now. The first, of course, the Cleveland Browns.
Jimmy HASLM. How many years of ownership? Rob G? Check
that out? Twelve years? I think of ownership with Jimmy HASLM.
Rob G's not listening. Look at him, rob G, rob G,

(41:25):
what are you listening to? Check on Jimmy Haslm's ownership.
Turn off, Turn off that podcast. We just selected a
new walk up song for Greg better than Diana Washing
is anything but muscles who like it doesn't. It's not
a masculine song. Can I say? I don't know if
you can say that in twenty twenty, but that's why

(41:47):
it's so perfect. But you got a better one, all right? Um?
But Rob Gi Hashim's owned the Browns with ten years
twelve years, so he's gone through six different coaches, and
he's gone through several front general managers. He's seven years,
he's been the owner seven years and five coaches, five gms.
Because he's been the owner for seven years. Yes, and

(42:10):
he's fired five coaches and five general managers. I mean,
come on, I don't care if every coach and general
manager you hire is terrible. You gotta stick with somebody
at some point. You can't just expect dudes to turn
it around in one year or two years. Only coach

(42:31):
he gave more than two years was Hugh Jackson and
he got two and a half. So their ownership that's
a big problem. And then the other team, of course,
Rob the Dallas Cowboys. Now they haven't been as bad
as the Browns, but context too were with Dallas Cowboys.
I'm sorry, I don't expect you. You've won what five

(42:53):
Super Bowls, second most all times, and they had a
dynasty when they won three out of four when Jimmy
Jerry Jones and Jimmy Johnson first took over. And since then,
since they won that third Super Bowl and uh was
that ninety six? They've now in the last twenty five years,

(43:14):
Chris have won four playoff games, have never been back
to the NFC Championship Game. Forget about getting in there
and having a chance to win and losing. They haven't
even been to the NFC Championship Game for twenty five years.
They've been horrible. And again, context, I don't judge the
Dallas Cowboys by the same standard I judged the Cleveland

(43:34):
Browns by. I'm sorry, you're the Dallas Cowboys like the Lakers,
I don't judge the Lakers. Six years out of the
playoffs would be nothing for some franchise, right, all right,
So so both of those franchise had been horrible and
Jerry Jones, look, I don't know, I mean now, I
don't think Jason Garrett's gonna remain a head coach. No,

(43:58):
I still don't. They're gonna today their third meeting. I mean, now,
the reports in the speculation is that he's going to
have another job in the Francis and I talked about that.
I think they'll come out and announced he's being reassigned,
right or promoted to the front officers. I'm telling you, Chris,
because he has such a Jerry has such an affinity

(44:19):
for Jason Garrett doesn't want to embarrass him. Their families
are intertwined. His brother works for the organization. This all out.
What do we keep saying? We use the term all
the time, Chris, Jerry runs it like a mom and
pop stores is the greatest, and he doesn't want it.
But he doesn't want to let Oh my, I can't
do this to Jason. He's in the family's right, he's

(44:43):
own man. Yes, I wann't hired as a as a
pro football coach. You know what happens. You get fired sometimes.
Most people get fired. Ballotcheck got fired exactly. Everybody gets
fired at some point. I mean, come on, so and
here my thing, Rob, I look, I don't know if
you can have Jason Garrett in football operations. I just

(45:07):
think it's gonna create more of the madness that you've
had these last ten years. With Jerry being a guy
you can go to. Now it seems like a lot
of players like Jason Garrett, right, whoever the new head
coach now, not only may I might go to Jerry,
but I also might go to Jason. You know, man,

(45:29):
we used to do it. It was better the way
you did it. You know, your offense was better than this.
We need to get back to that. I mean that's
you're gonna have all types of stuff now you could
have you could have a situation. That's why normally you
need to break He's gonna be a marketer or advertising website.
You know that's gonna write a column. Jason Garrett's column

(45:52):
is gonna be on Dallas Cowboys dot com. I can't
wait to read this first collumn. But you know, like
you gotta get hymore where you couldn't even do a
college because to be criticizing the team, right, you gotta
get him away from football where he's not there all
the time. The connections too close. So what wasn't edward
Er kind of had a little report about that, right,

(46:13):
But he might and I get it because it makes
sense if you look at I just don't think it's
a smart move. No, I agree. But here's what I'm
gonna do about the Haslems, Chris, I hear what they've
done in seven years, right? Seven? Admit that's horrible. That's
a lot, right, But they're not a lot. That's horrid.
But they also went through a winless season. They had

(46:34):
one win, so they had some bad stuff going on.
But I'll tell you what he did with John Dorsey.
I totally agreed, and I give him credit not to
stay the course when that guy through a monkey wrench
in what you had put together and hired an inexperienced

(46:55):
Freddy Kitchen. Should have never got that job. You said it.
I know it, you know it. Everybody knows that, Chris.
John Dorsey tried to force Freddie Kitchens on all these
veteran coaches who wouldn't even come for the interview. Right, Okay,
are you right and wrong? Give me that right. I
agree with you that he made a mistake. That was
a pine Freddy Kitchen, Yes, that was a big mistake.

(47:17):
Did it have to be fatal? Yes, this is a
guy that has a winning pedigree. Again, this is a
guy that, Lets look, there was a reason that people
thought the Browns would be nice this year. There was
a reason I picked him to make the playoffs this year. Well,
you made a mistake because they had a lot of
talent and who put that talent together. That's only but

(47:39):
it's on paper. But I'm saying in Kansas City they
were two and fourteen before he got there. He turned
them around. Now they're one of the top franchise. I'm
just saying, I'm asking you. All I'm saying is the
dude has a track record of winning. And that's more
I can than I can say for most of the

(48:00):
people in thatization. Mistake. I just don't know that. And
I'm not gonna say defend him to high Heaven, but
I'm just saying, now you, here's what they're gonna do,
Rob They're gonna hire the head coach and let him
have a saying pick in the gym that's backwards, and

(48:20):
I get it. Mike m you can bring in certain
guys that have that type of cashe Mike McCarthy. I
think he gotta hire Mike McCarthy because I need an
adult in that organization and that I need an older
man who's got some respect, and he had and Mike
McCarthy would have it because he's already won a championship.
And see this is I think what the Haslems are

(48:40):
looking at Chris is that he's so he's so messed
up the whole situation in not realizing with the with
the personalities he was putting together, that you couldn't have
a coach that the guys didn't respect. Do you know
what I mean? Like, how did John do she really
think this was gonna work? And he also a lot

(49:02):
of people looked at it and said he wound up
giving Baker Mayfield too much credit and allowing him to
pick the coach because he had a relationship with Freddy Kitchens.
Why are you doing that with Baker Mayfield, a second
year guy? And you know what happened to him this year?
He took two steps backwards. I agree, right, that's where

(49:23):
John Dorsey made a mistake. It's a fatal mistake. This
team was not supposed to go backwards to six and ten, Chris.
They were seven eight in one last year. They added olbj,
they added all these other pieces, right, and they went backwards.
They were worse than they were. That's why I think
John Dorsey had to pay for it with his gig. Well, look,

(49:46):
if you bring in the right hand coach and you
get the right structure in front office in place, I'll
give you that. But I just think they're going about
this thing backwards. Now, now you're gonna hire it better again,
it better, Mike McCarthy, because what if you if you
hire young even in Urban Meyer, and there is a
report that they're interested in Urban Meyer, Borrow and Bruce Felman,

(50:09):
and then Jimmy Haslm came out and said, right now,
they're focused on guys in the NFL, so he kind
of shot it down at least for the time being.
And I really like Urban Meyer. I think if the
Cowboys hired him that that would be a good hire.
But Jones my only question. I agree that Jerry would

(50:33):
have to give him the reins, which I don't think
he would do, and that's the problem. But I'm kind
of assuming if they do hire him that Urban will
have told them and made sure. Look, I'm gonna be
able to run things. But getting back to the Brown,
I know what I would have told Jerry, Joey, You've
been doing it for twenty five years. Man, let me,
I'm a football guy. I'm gonna do right by you.
You wanted him win another championship. Let me do this,

(50:54):
I agree, Let me do this. I agree. But as
far as the Browns, here's my only question about Urban
Myrin and it obviously from Ohio and you know Ohio
State bowling Green great success at these places, but he
hasn't coached in the NFL. It's another guy that is unproven.
That's what they've been doing. And it doesn't always translate

(51:16):
because Nick Saban failed in right, so stem failed. Yep, yep.
That's my only question. I if I'm the browser, you
never know for sure. But I want a guy that's proven.
If if they hired Mike McCarthy and it doesn't work,
it's hard to kill him for that. That's the right

(51:36):
higher right. It just it just didn't work out. But
I agree with that. That would be one where you
would look and go pedigree uh walks into the locker room.
He automatically has respect, he has has my championship. Break
could tell nothing. Don't tell me. I work with Aaron Rodger.
We went on the road and won a super Bowl.
We beat Pittsburgh you know what I mean. Ye, And

(52:02):
I'm gonna try. You want to get a Super Bowl,
you're trying to get there, Let me lead you. Yep.
I'm trying to tell you I've been there. I've worked
with Aaron Rodgers Baker. Listen, right, sit, shut up and listen.
Look like he's like a dad. I'm just saying, like,
you need that's what is raised with authority, and I

(52:27):
think that's good. Yeah, a back hand, the front hand,
a belt, but that's what I think they need to clear.
Let me ask you this, Rob and we'll throw it
out to our callers. Jerry Jones, we talked about two
franchises where the ownership is kind of screwing things up.
Who you got more faith in, Jerry Jones or or
Hassling Has. I'm serious, Jerry has has a twenty five

(52:51):
year track record that he will not give up the reins.
He continues to run it like it's his home, personal plaything.
And I just don't see him like this late in
the game. Chris, He's already in the Hall of Fame, right,
he still wants to do it his way. He will not,
but I know he wants another one, but one the

(53:12):
way he got the three yes, right, because he got
three like that, he wants his own. Look, I think
Jerry Jones is a better owner than Jimmy Haslim, But
I agree with you in this immediate context because he's
not as hands on as Jones, because he doesn't have
his own radio spot every week, because he's not holding

(53:36):
court for thirty minutes after every game, right even before
the coach talk. Right. Because of those things, Yeah, I'm
going with Jimmy Haslim. And that's the situation, all right.
What do you think? Eight seven, seven ninety nine on
Fox eight seven, seven nine nine six sixty three sixty nine.
Which owner would you trust more? Moving forward? Jimmy Haslim

(53:57):
of the Browns or Jerry Jones of the Cowboys. You're
turned away in We'll continue the conversation with you. Next
is The I Couple of Fox Sports Radio. Be sure
to catch live editions of The Odd Couple with Chris
Broussard and Rob Parker weekdays at seven pm Eastern four
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeart Radio app.

(54:17):
Moving on to the east Side, Come on, Chris, we
finally got up piece of the Pah. Here we go, fish,
don't find the kitchen a bees, don't burn on the grill.
Took a whole lot of trying. I'll just to get

Did not turn that bed long with me. Here is
you and me baby. Ain't nothing wrong with that word.
We're moving all up dudy side. Best theme songs, no
doubt get you jumping. You got that one, hoping we

Jimmy Haslem and the Browns or Jerry Jones of the Cowboys.

(55:47):
Let's start with Bryce in Virginia, Bryce showing with Christ
and Rob Ain't Christ and Rob love you guys the death,
thank you, thank you. Not that I agree with Rob
or your rock singers. Oh my man, come on that
bad right, Robert. Pretty bad stuff there. But that then said,

(56:08):
I kind of changed my mind while I was on
hole here because I don't have a problem with Jerry
Jones as an owner, because he's getting close, But him
as a general manager is the problem. He's the one
that went with the woozier who couldn't cover his face
all year long. He had a chance to get Jamal Adams,
he had a chance to get Earl Thomas, but he

(56:30):
wouldn't give up a fourth round drafted for either one.
You can't be an owner and a GM and be effective.
I don't believe. I think we haven't seen it. We
definitely haven't seen it happen. Hardly anybody else even tries
it right because they don't know football well enough. He
thinks as he played that he knows I'm with you
because I think Jerry Jones a better owner. I mean,

(56:50):
you look at the value of the franchise and obviously
they stay in the news, which even though it's for
negative things, they're in the news. I mean, we're always
talking to cowboys. But he's too involved and Haslem's involved too,
but not to this degree. Hey, Bryce, thank you. How
about Keith and piora Illinois. You're on the odd couple

(57:11):
Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Keith? How are you doing
Fellersize and going? Man, good to hear from your Fellers.
Good to have you guys back again. Yeah, Rob, you
got to do something about that voice. Oh man, I
know they keep saying you Chris Good. No, see, Chris
drowned me out. That's why you think it was great?

(57:31):
Is that what it was? Fellers? I might be a
little biased because I'm a cowboy, diehard Cowboys fan me myself.
I don't have problems with what Jerry does too much.
I know he's a little maddling and stuff like that.
But if I owned the team, I have some one
of them say about what was going on? Also, would
you you would be out? But after twenty five years, though,

(57:53):
Keith and you're having one Jack, I understand where you're
coming from. He needs a disciplinarian again, that's what he needs.
Something body that's going the whole players, as you said
Chris earlier, accountable for their actions. But it's hard to
be a disciplinarian when I know I can go speak
to the owner right if you get on my nerves,
I'm going to talk to right outside the locker room.

(58:13):
By might be in the locker room. Like you said,
get the right coach, get the right person in there
that's gonna demand discipline and demand the players be accountable
for themselves. You don't need kenoties when you out for
third and fifteen and you didn't stop the person, but
you didn't. Got to hold in keenalty for this and
that some of the foolish stuff that they do, dropping

(58:35):
passes and things of that nature, that stuff you hold
players accountable for. Coaches can't help that. We just teach
you the game. Let's go to Jerry in Nashville. Jerry
with Chris and Robby. I'm like, I enjoy hearing you brothers.
See that brings back a lot of memories of my grandmother.
When I was a kid. I'm a little kid. You

(58:57):
was watching that on TV Land with the Jefferson though,
y'all singing that man and maybe laugh on the way home.
There we go. We always try to have fun on Thursdays,
no doubt. A second point is, hey, man, I'm with
I'm with Chris on this one. I think I think
Jenny Hanson is a better owner. For the simple fact is, yeah,
he makes some mistakes, you know, trying to figure out

(59:17):
who the who the coach and things like that. But
Jerry has got to stop. Twenty five years is long enough.
You need you need, you need to back away. Be
a good owner. Still do your yapping, but do it
from a farm. I like has him better. He stays
out of the out of the way. He right right,
no doubt, no doubt, Jerry, and I like, here's the thing,

(59:38):
Jerry Jones has to understand, rob He's gonna get credit
if they win a Super Bowl. You'll get credit. You
will get credit because everybody knows right right. But but
just step away, like, Okay, you tried to do it
your way for a long time, and you should look
at the results and be like, you know what, this
just isn't working. I need something. I need help, I

(59:58):
need somebody else, Marking Sacramento. You're in the odd couple
of Fox Sports Radio. What's up? Mark? What's going on? Gentlemen?
You know what? You guys keep singing and now I'll
go find good times to go with that. You guys
be right on the money. Good times might be next
good time? Are you gonna sing with us? Or when
when we sing good times? Good Times is a good
one too. I don't want to the same thing. You

(01:00:22):
didn't the same singer in both songs. It's because La
sign good times. She sang. She definitely sang the Jefferson Jefferson.
Now go ahead, Mark, what's your point? And real guy, guys,
this might sound kind of strange coming from me being
a Raider fan, but I do believe Jerry Jones kind
of learned how to do this from Al Davis, who

(01:00:43):
always involved in there and the buck stops with Al Davis.
Rich guys like those guys, they don't give up control
until they get can't remember or have to turn it
over because of health reasons for their team gets taken
from him. That's the only way to do with you
know what? You right about that? Because Al David, and
it's Al Davis had his little run right early on,

(01:01:06):
you know that they used to win there. John Madden
was the coach, that the Raiders were the real deal.
But then you learned how to market the coup Boys
from what Al Davis had done and tried to brook
his own deal, and Al Davids did that as well.
All right, you looking from Al Davis. He the other
thing I want to say before the game game and
that you take Jenny Jones because I hate to say,

(01:01:28):
but the Cowboys. Dude put together great ross and he
has his son whenever he wants to do something like
draft Johnny Manazelle son. No, it would not drafting Johnny Manozelle.
Dad he Guarden walk in there at some point to
kind of I think Steven's pretty good. I mean, because
they do get dat. They draft well. But but but

(01:01:48):
it hasn't it hasn't been able to turn into turn
into bad, right, cult, no doubt. All right, Greg, Jenny's
is on the road to becoming the most swamp. This
isn't me. This is Rob g the most swoll analyst
in sports media history, and he joins us next. But
first be sure to catch live editions of the Odd

something up his sleeve? The only hard park figure nowt
which way is easier getting that numbers? Eight hundred and
nine four seven eight uto. All right, he's one of
our few guests because he's one of our top guests
with his own theme music and uh he is a

(01:02:53):
super Bowl champion Fox NFL. I don't know if he
likes this one better than Diana washing Rag. Let's see
what he likes this one, or muscles? Greg? Is he there?
Is Greg? Jenny's there? He is he there? Oh my gosh?

(01:03:16):
Did he hang up? He's so mad at you, Alex
that we lost No, we lost him, we did. Man,
that was such a build up. I like muscles better, dude.
This one's great, Yeah, but muscles, but the muscles says
it right. It says it that part. But you gotta
hear this shirts. A lot of people probably don't even

(01:03:37):
know that's what he said. All right, we gotta hear what.
It's one he likes though. All right, we got him back.
All right, all right, Greg, Jenny's back. Greg. How you doing?
Happy New Year? Happy new year? Man, Chris? Did you
hang up on me? Man? No, we were wondering where

(01:03:57):
you went? We kind of you're Matt look listen to
the firing us. So we want to know what. We
trying to get your theme song together. And we got
two choices. So here's choice number one, Greg, Jaime. All right,
So that's number one, and here's number two. Greg. Yeah,

(01:04:26):
I got right right, that's perfect. It's great to have
you on the show as always. Brother. This is your
time year you won a Super Bowl. You know what
it takes, uh in the postseason to get it done.
The first thing I want to ask you about your
former team, the Green Bay Packers. Rob's got them picked

(01:04:47):
to win it all. Most people don't. What do you
think about the Packers in their chances uh in the
in the playoffs? Well, I think they have a really
good chance. Um, They're they're a really interesting team this
time year. Obviously, their record is really good, they obviously
have the buy the second seed. But what makes them

(01:05:10):
so intriguing to me is they've been one of those
teams that have won but haven't had that signature win.
But they they are scary because you don't know what
you're gonna get when you compete against them, specifically defensively
as well as offensively, what kind of attack they're gonna

(01:05:30):
approach the game with so um And then they have
that guy that has won in the postseason, that has
a Super Bowl, that is hungry for another one. I
don't like them to win at all, but I like
them a lot. Do you have any question, great, because
you've heard some people are questioning, is this still the

(01:05:50):
old Aaron Rodgers? Rogers, the vintage Aaron Rodgers? We haven't
seen a ton of that this year? Do you question that?
Is he not quite what you to be? Well? I
think I think what we have to understand it is,
you know, time, time presents change, and when you get older,
you evolve. I think we've seen a smarter Aaron Rodgers.

(01:06:14):
We've seen um Aaron Rodgers that has not taken as
many risks as he has in the past, and I
think that's what's so alarming, and that's what stands out
the most is he hasn't been forcing things with his arms,
making those electric, wild popping throws that has us on
the edge of our seat that we have grown accustomed

(01:06:37):
to simply because he's been a lot smarter with the
football and has had to do it in different ways
because he hasn't had the skill guys that he's been
privileged of having over the course of his career. And Greg,
this is this is my reason. First of all, thirteen
and three, eight and one against teams with winning record,
which is really impressive. The Packers the best in the league.

(01:07:01):
Here's the other part. This is the most balanced I've
seen the Packers in a long time. They have guys
on defense who can make plays win games. You have
a running back who can get you up one hundred
some yards or whatever, and he scores in around the
red zone. He's he's got nineteen touchdowns. So you're this

(01:07:21):
is not Aaron Rodgers feeling like I gotta put up
forty in order to win a playoff game. Yeah, Rob,
You're You're You're spot on, I think, And that's what's
taken away from this this what we were so accustomed
to scene When it came to Aaron Rodgers, it was
solely all on his shoulders, and now it is not.
And I think that benefits Packers as a team that

(01:07:45):
has rather than what they've had experience with in the past.
But Greg, I think there's pressure on Aaron because if
they don't get it. I mean, do they have to
win the super Bowl? Maybe not, but if they don't
get deep in the playoffs at least to the super Bowl,
and they have a good defense now, they have a
running game now and Aaron doesn't have any of those

(01:08:08):
vintage performances, I think people are gonna look at Aaron
and say, Okay, he was the problem this year. He's
always gotten the pass because of the defense or whatever.
But I think people would look at him this year
if he doesn't have the vintage performances and they lose.
I disagree. I completely disagree. I disagree. And if they

(01:08:29):
would use any throws for like two hundred and fourteen
yards and no one or no touchdowns, You'll think he's
gonna get criticized. I believe he's definitely gonna get criticized
because that's what happens at the quarterback position, and he's
Aaron Rodgers. I will be the first. If he doesn't
put up a performance that is enough to win and

(01:08:50):
they need him to play well and he doesn't, then yes,
I'm going to be the first to jump on him.
But what I don't want to do is jump on
him prematurely simply be because they are a different team.
They are not just an Aaron Rodgers driven team. And
that's what we have to understand. And I think the
biggest stat that tells you that is when Aaron Rodgers

(01:09:11):
hasn't thrown a touchdown this year, they're three and old.
That was never the case in the past, and that
says a lot. Let's let's questions. Will if they win
the Super Bowl and Rogers doesn't have a touchdown, will
uh Rob give him credit? Yeah, because he had to
hand up to Aaron Jones. Rob didn't give He didn't

(01:09:33):
give Tom Brady credit for last year Super Bow. No,
that was a parting gift, all right. Speaking of Tom Brady, uh,
you know a lot of people this could be his
last game as just you know, as the starting quarterback
in Foxborough. You know, even if they win the game
and move on, you know, they gotta go to the road. Uh,
what's your gut on just Uh? Could they lose this
game to the Titans who run the football really well?

(01:09:55):
Ten Ads tenne Hills played pretty well of late and
h if they do lose, do you think he'll be
back with the Patriots next year? Greg? Two part question,
two part question. I don't think they lose to the Titans,
simply because there's so much writing on this. This may
and very well could be his last game in Foxborough.

(01:10:16):
And I think when you have played and you are
a special special piece of that organization, guys are gonna
pull out every stop, everything that they have to ensure
that you have another opportunity to play and continue playing,
and they allow you to go out on the right note.
As far as moving forward, I don't know where he

(01:10:39):
ends up. I would like to see him stay in
a New England Patriot uniform until he calls it quits
and allow him to go out on his own terms.
He in my opinion, as a player, as one that
has played and one had has watched him play at
such a high level for so long of a period
of time, and what he's provided that organization, he deserves

(01:11:02):
that at the very least. All right. That's our man,
Greg Jennings, and he settled it. We got this thing.
We got muscles, all right, brother hap Happy New Year,

it credit rip off? Good time? Scratching as so viving?
Hanging in the child time? Ain't we lucky? We got

(01:12:08):
him good time? That one't that's good? The only reason
I know the line is hanging in the child line, yeah,
is because Dave Chappelle did a skit on that. He
did a skit on like it was something like name

(01:12:30):
the Black theme song, something like that. I never knew
what that was. And the child line, I know, what
did you know it was hanging on the child I knew.
I just knew, like hanging in the child man, I
know it was easy, easy, easy credit ripping. Man. They

(01:12:51):
gotta get those plays out of hood. Oh yeah, out
of the business. They were ripping the people off in
the hood. All right, anyway, it is the Odd Couple,
and uh, it's time for shop talk. Nobody ain't still
been a bomb shop you know that. Ain't nobody you
talk about whoever it whatever, whatever you want to in

we get to this segment, I must say that now

I don't want you to sing the next you know what?
That sounds like, rob That sounds like that sounds like
I gonna say, I got a funny joke in my mind,
but I'm gonna let it go. That sounds that sounds
like that sounds like a bitter producer staying in another

(01:13:33):
hotel after you dare you wow? In his car? In
his real car. Now, all right, it is shop talk
the O couple. Dudes. Every single Thursday forty five pm,
meter we discussed something to happen outside of the world
of sports. And you know what. Last week was Christmas
and a lot of us were off. We had a
skeleton cruise. We don't really need a chance to talk

(01:13:54):
about it. And right now the shop talk topic is this.
What is the best It's Christmas gift that you got?
This here, if you didn't get one that was good
to kill maybe all time that you got. We'll start
with you, Chris Well, both of my daughters, My daughters
are twenty one years old, twins. They both got me
outstanding gifts to Alexis and Noel. But Alexis did she

(01:14:17):
got me a gift that was just awesome. It's a
little book called What I Love Most About Dan Wow,
And it has all the you know I like it
when you or I used to love when you did this,
and you have filling the blank and she filled them all.
It's fifty of them, wow. And she filled them all in. Man.

(01:14:38):
It was awesome. It was it was out. I feel
like tearing up right now. Man. That was great. Get
even all the way back to her childhood and you know,
things you didn't think they were listening to, they were
listening to and just the advice you gave them, and
you know, you even get a little bit clup. I'm
getting a little Bit Club for clip. That's a world

(01:15:01):
I don't even know. I can't even follow that autum.
I mean, I'm sitting here. I'll say something Travis Scott
Jean advice, but I will say my best friend Fred,
who's lives in DC, he sent me. I sent him
the picture of when I went to an art could
have won where I'm in the big jacket, got the
peace sign up. He had that blown up and put

(01:15:23):
into a really really nice frame. And I hung up,
and I had no idea what was coming. So it
came in the mail or whatever, and it just was.
He put a caption on like a plaque. First black Man.
He didn't do all that, rob g What about you.
I got some cool gifts. My hearts got me a TV,
which was nice but to me, TV, yeah she did,
But the gift I really enjoyed. The mote. Yeah, well

(01:15:46):
for me, it ain't Chris. We started nice, but it's
nice for me. You know, staying in the lower rent hotels.
You know, it's like me, it's like a hotel. They
would have a TV, they would have it to holiday exacte.
But no, you know what, the the gift I really
enjoyed the most years. My mother in law got me
new hair clippers. You know, I cut my hair all
the time, and so she got it does Yeah, so

(01:16:10):
she got me some new clippers. I was pretty pumped
about that. You actually are pretty good. Thank you. It
looks good. She can't tell let you do it yourself. Wow.
R DJ Tischer. Well, no, it's well, it's it's a tie.
There was two things that got this year that are
pretty darn darn good. One of them has to be
from the great Rob Parker. Was my first pair of Jorans,

(01:16:33):
which is by far. It was amazing. I was strutting
around the Fox Loot looking like I shouldn't be there.
I'll tell you that I never had a pair that
was great, and he didn't know they would come in.
I had no idea that was. I still can't believe it, Rob,
But I would say my mom, she watches a lot
of my habits and she knows I'm very health crazed
and I make smoothies every day. She went out of
her way and traveled to a place to get this

(01:16:53):
like rare ninja smoothie blender that can process food and
make dough and different. She went out of her way
to get it for me. I use it every day
and I love Wow. Every day is great. The gifts
with the thought you know that that's say that thought,
the thought. Yeah, that's what you know. So that's what
it's all about, all right. It is the I Couple,

(01:18:00):
of the hour, our man Martin Wie is in for
trolling or rolling, but we got a special guest right now.
He saw us tweeting about the Aaron Rodgers conversation, and
Rob Parker in particular tweeted something about Bucky Brooks saying
Aaron Rodgers didn't any good or what was it? I

(01:18:21):
didn't say that. Is that what I said? Something to
that effect? What do you say, Rob, Rob Gee? I
don't know. Rob said it, and Elijah the social media
guru just published it online. Elijah's alias are instigated a night.
He's starting the fight between me and Bucky Brooks. Is
now we got I think you started it weeks ago.
Who mena, I'm a lover, not a fighter. I'm not

(01:18:43):
in the all Laddin. We got Bucky. Well, anyway, here's
our man. Uh, former NFL player and front office member
and now Fox NFL analyst, Bucky Brooks. What's happening to
Bucky Well? You man? I'm great, I'm you know. I
was minding my own business this year. In the kitchen
I got I got the broccoli cauliflower kind of spartan.

(01:19:06):
And I look at Twitter and I see my name
has been brought into something that I didn't even get
credit for, something about Aaron Rodgers being broken down or
he doesn't have pressure. So I just felt like I
needed to clear and kind of figure out what you
got were talking about? Oh yeah, we were just talking
about the playoffs, and my big contention to Chris and

(01:19:26):
this is where they hold Aaron Rodgers conversation, is I
don't think he has as much pressure. I think he
has the least pressure going in because it's not about
all about him. They weren't able to win this year
thirteen and three. Uh, they were three and old when
he didn't throw a touchdown. They have a running game
this year. They have players on defense who get takeaways.

(01:19:50):
It's not like a typical Aaron Rodgers has to score
forty points or they have no chance to win in
the playoffs. So I said, I think he has less
pressure than most of the court, than all the quarter
going into the playoffs. Uh, you know what, for once, man,
you're finally making some sense, like, no, it's not all
the way on him, it's not on his shoulders. Now,

(01:20:10):
I would say part of that is because he hasn't
played at the Aaron roster standard for most of the year.
But they go ahead and say it by he's been west.
He hadn't even been that usually. He hasn't been rustled,
no heat. Yeah, that's what's Beverley. He got the people

(01:20:32):
doing the heavy listening like Aaron Jones is more of
the Kauhi. You got Davante Adams on the outside, who's
kind of acting like KG thirteen. So he has been
able to really play quarterback the way that you need
to play with an older quarterback meeting. I don't need
him to play at a franchise level all the time.
I just need him some of the time. And I

(01:20:52):
think actually it's going to help him because now in
the postseason, they only needed to play at a high
level two or three times, and they may find themselves
in the Super Bucky where I think they're gonna get.
I think they're gonna get to the Super Bowl, Bucky.
I do where I disagree with Roy Bucky was I
do think I get it. You're he's right that Rodgers
doesn't have to carry the team, that the idea of

(01:21:13):
scoring forty points to be able to win a playoffs, right,
But if he doesn't, if they let's say they lose
either their first game or their second game in the
playoffs NFC Championship and he doesn't produce like they he
throws the two hundred and fourteen yards and one touchdown
under no touchdowns. He can't be that old. Aaron Rodgers

(01:21:34):
I think he's gonna get criticized. No, he will get
criticized the defense and say, we gave you a defense,
you got a running game, and you didn't get it done.
I mean, there's always gonna be some of that. It's
the same pressure that Drew we as Brady Wall always
down because we expect so much of the elite quarterback. Um.

(01:21:55):
I think for Aaron this year, UM, the defense has
played better. They have created turnovers, and I think that's
the number one thing for them. If they play in
a game where they don't get the extra possessions because
of the turnover, that's the game that they need Aaron
Rodgers to play at an a level. But if the
defense plays like he's been playing, getting stops, generating turnovers

(01:22:16):
and Jones running the ball, nah, And Rogers has shown
that he is content this year to just play the
game the right way. Let all the other guys make
the plays. But I think he is the ultimate kind
of like security blanket because he had the inside he
can make those exaculive plays that he can put them
on their back. It's just a matter if they need

(01:22:36):
him to play that level for them to win. Bucky
Brooks joining the eye couple. Here's my last question about
Aaron Bucky. I hope. I assume you've been following the
NFL's top one hundred players of all time, ten quarterbacks,
ten receivers, ten running backs, on and so forth, and
both Rob and I thought that we had two changes

(01:22:57):
that we thought should have been among the quarterbacks. We
thought Aaron Rodgers should have been on instead of Brett
Farve and Drew Brees should have been on instead of
Dan Marino. What are your thoughts on those two or
the list in general. Yeah, yeah, especially those two. Boy.

(01:23:18):
Bret farrm should absolutely be in there. Really you told
you because you think he's better than Airy? Oh? Absolutely,
I think so. And this is why I was up there.
I played with Brett during that run where he won
three straight MVPs, and I think what happened for Aaron
he played so long. I mean for Bret farr he
played so long that people forget him in his plan.

(01:23:42):
And I think if you go back and you really
look at how he played in ninety five, ninety six,
ninety seven, there wasn't a player that played to that level.
Even at Aaron at his best didn't necessarily have the
same kind of magic that Brett Farve. So to me,
Brett shouldn't even be in debate. And terms of not
being on the list, I can understand why people would

(01:24:04):
talk about Damn Marino because if you go a Dan Marino,
he went to the Super Bowl maybe a second year,
well it was a second year after six or seven year.
You know, he wasn't lightening the league up anymore, right,
So I can see why people would take that. And
also football was played at a different time. I think
then the debate is are we talking about Drew Breese

(01:24:25):
and Drew Brees get in because there was a time
where Drew Brees had a lot of empty calories. They
were thrown for a bunch of yards, but they were
finished right at seven and nine, eight, nine and seven.
And so look, man, you're spending years. Whenever you have
the list like that where you have ten quarterbacks over
different eras, I think you kind of have to shorten

(01:24:45):
the era and maybe make it just the Super Bowl
era because you can put all those guys in because
the game has changed so much. Yeah, you can't even
go by stat and you know what, even that's a
good point, it probably should have gone. Yeah, That's probably it.
One last thing, Bucky, sorry about that. One last thing
is about the Tom Brady. This could be his last

(01:25:06):
home game, right, I mean, they got to go on
the road even if they win this do they do
they even win this game against UH Tennessee. A lot
of people are questioning whether or not the Patriots could
even be the Titans here in this game after what
happened against Miami. Well, I think they can win. I
think they can win this one. But I think what

(01:25:27):
we have to kind of realize the Patriots on the
Patriots of old Tom Brady, for all of his greatness
or whatever, if you just wipe the name off the
back of the jersey. Tom Brady hasn't played well. When
you look at the stass from Week four and beyond.
He's the bottom six quarterback based on the numbers. His
numbers from week nine on our completion percentage worse than

(01:25:48):
duck Hodges. I mean Josh Allen passer rating and all
those things are in the range of mitter Ubisky and
Duck Hodges. So it's just really a matter of can't
Tom Rady dusted off one last game. I don't think
he can do it for three games to get him in,
but he may have one magical game left in him.
I kind of liken it to Michael Jordan with the Wizard.

(01:26:11):
He can give you one, but he can't give you
a sustained effort over multiple games. I think for the
Patriots to win, it's gonna be all about their defense
and the special teams that for Garry. All right, Bucky,
great stuff, man. We appreciate you. Joy and happy new year. Brother.
Hey appreciate it man. You guys up all right? Yep,
rob Let's uh, let's switch to the NBA quickly. Zion

(01:26:34):
Williamson the reason that you turn on the television every
three nights and right unfortunately, yes, every night. Room. Even
though he's playing well, it is Zion Williamson. And Zion
had his first full practice since the knee surgery this

(01:26:56):
week on on Thursday today. And the question I'm going
to throw out because it's been some debate. There are
some in the NBA who've told me, I don't you know,
I don't know that it's definitive or if it's just
a rumor going around the league. But some I'm thinking
that he's not gonna play this year. And I the

(01:27:17):
old school in me doesn't like that. I'm like, look,
at some point, you gotta play, and if you get hurt,
you know what, it was just meant to be and
you weren't gonna be healthy anyway. But I do understand it. Look,
this is a team that thought they were gonna fight
for the playoffs. Right now, They've got eleven wins. They're
the sixth worst record in the NBA. If you keep

(01:27:39):
Zion out and you keep playing this poor They've won
fourth straight. They're on a little bit of a hot streak.
But let's say you finished, you know, in one of
the five or six worst records in the league. Maybe
you get that lottery pick, or you get a number
one or two or three pick or something like that.
You add another good young player. You also give Zion
a year where maybe you can work on his body.

(01:28:02):
Although I'm not sure they've been doing you know, it's
health much yet. I know they'll try, but work on
his body, get that knee as healthy as possible, and
get a top pick. Maybe. I mean, I hate to
say it, but I get the logic in that this
season is lost. You're not making the playoffs, so maybe
let him sit out. What do you think yeah, I'm

(01:28:23):
disagreed with that. I think if he's healthy, he should
play to why Prolonge it was like the sneaker that
blew out. Remember we're watching and you know people are saying, oh,
don't ever play again, you know, like just go to
the pros. You don't want to. And he got healthy
and he played. He didn't have another incident. Things happen.
If you're healthy, you should play. If you're not, I'm

(01:28:43):
saying because one hundred percent, no rushing him back, none
of that. I'm talking about. You're healthy, you're going and
you could play like full speed everything if you can
do that. Getting him sometime now with some of his
teammates is gonna be better for next year rather than
being out the whole year. That's true, right, Like you're

(01:29:03):
getting because if you they were starting all over again,
that makes sense. That's all. I want him to know
who your teammates are and get a feel for the
other guys so that we're not starting all over again,
and then everything that we gained this year will go
out the window because now we're all gonna learn to
replay again with Zion. So don't worry about the draft. No,

(01:29:26):
I'm wanna you just get what people are saying is
that this isn't a draft that's I was gonna say, No,
it's not like over the top where you like, we
know who's gonna be the number one pick on number
two pick. We don't have that feeling. So that makes sense.
I get him out to get him acclimated to to
his teammates. And then you say to yourself, uh, and

(01:29:48):
you're right. If you're gonna get hurt, Chris, you're gonna
get hurt. So they gat no way to say guarded.
He could sit out the whole year, play game one
of next year and and hurt something. And then you say,
what while we shut him out the whole year? Now
what right? Yeah, so so you can't win. Yeah, it's
that's a good point. I mean, get him, get him
because you're right if they if he sits out, then

(01:30:11):
next year becomes let's see what Yon can do. It
doesn't become like if he plays well this year, then
next year is about let's make the playoffs. Right, you
go when you go and tell you ad him in,
there's still enough games to be played, but not even
at the All Star break around, there's no way he's
not going to be you said, you know, don't rush him.

(01:30:32):
Don't rush. There's no way he's gonna need the entire
season to get that need. He just practice, right, this
is what January second, Today's right, January second. Yeah, and
he there's no way he should be ready really not
gonna play eight latest. It should be after the All
Star That's what I mean. If he's ready at the latest,
after after the All Star break, he comes back, he's

(01:30:53):
healthy and it's full going. He's going full full board practice. God,
you gotta play. That's out of play. You're in the
league to play. Come. It's your job to your player, right,
I mean, So anyway, I wonder if everybody believe thinks that.
I mean, let's see what you guys think. Eight seven,
seven ninety nine or Fox eight seven, seven, nine nine

(01:31:17):
six sixty three sixty nine. Should Zayi Williamson sit out
the entire season or not? Should he come back and play?

We threw it out to you, guys, zion Should he
play or should he wait? This season eight seven seven
ninety nine on FU to the number. Let's get it

(01:32:44):
started with Andre in Cape Cod You're on the odd
couple of Fox Sports Radio. Yeah, thanks for taking my call.
Happy New Year, guys, Zion absolutely needs to play. We
need to see him for a minimum of twenty games.
They need to follow the same planet they did some
years go with Anthony Davis under the leadership of Monty Williams.
You need to get some time. But obviously you're gonna

(01:33:05):
bring them along slowly. We know that the Pelicans they
play in the major leagues at the Western Conference, so
they're gonna lose anyway you slice it. They're gonna they're
gonna take them else good point. Okay, So if you're
a graft status that that that's not going to and
if you don't take the Elves, then praise the Lord.
You got you got something going all right? Yeah. Indeed,
so they have a young core there. We see Lonzo

(01:33:25):
coming back. He's been playing a little bit better. You
have Angerman's doing that. Yeah, Jackson Hayes another young thundercat
that's out there making some moves. So put them in
the mix, you know. Again, twenty plus games to the people,
we get a glimpse, you know, and you'll also achieve
you know, your overarching goals in terms of the lottery
going forward. Finally, I have to stay it's a sad
day in the basketball community with the passing of Davis Stern,

(01:33:48):
the greatest commissioner and team sports. So we need we
need to mention that I haven't mentioned that. We will
get to that talking about but that's Look, the last
thing they need is another pretty good young player. No right,
you got enough pretty good young players. Unless it's gonna
be a superstar, you can do without another young guy.
Let's go to Marty in Kentucky. Marty, what's happening in Brothers?

(01:34:11):
What's up? Fellas? Why did I picture Rob dancing like
Carlton when Rob teams? You know what I could have been.
I don't know if I can do Yeah, I could dance.
I don't know if but he could dance. UM. On
this subject, I'm still I'm gonna repeat what I've said

(01:34:35):
every time we talk about it. Jamma, Rant's gonna be
the guy to this draft that we're talking about ten
years from now now. I do like I do like Jan,
but I don't like his physics of his body and
and the speed of the league, and I just don't
think his body's gonna hold up. I'm still sticking with that.
It's what I said originally. I hope I'm wrong because

(01:34:55):
I like the kid. But if if I'm the Pelicans,
I have to put him in. I gotta see what
I invested he and get him out there, get him
learned in the NBA, getting mentioned with his teammates, you know,
before they know what his rookie contract would be up.
You gotta get him in Compagne's no, that's a good point, Marty,
no doubt. See what he's made up. He might not
be a great player at this level. So the sooner

(01:35:17):
you find that out, the better, and he might not
right away. Jonathan and Orlando, you're on the couple of
Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Jonathan, how you guys doing great?
So I want to talk about a Zion situation. I
think he shouldn't have played this year. I think he
should play next year. The reason why I say that

(01:35:39):
because you remember back in two thousand and seven when
Greg Olden was taking number one overall to the Portland Trailblazer.
It was so much hype and then he had so
much injuries, right right, So I think was Zion in
this situation, he shouldn't have played. I think he should
wait till next year to get his body adjusted. And

(01:36:00):
when his body is adjusting, when he's fully healthy, we'll
see him make an impact next year as far as
this year now. But Jonathan and Greg and it wouldn't
have mattered. No, he's just I mean, he just couldn't.
He couldn't stay healthy. Structure. Yeah, he wasn't gonna be
healthy no matter how long. But you got to realize,
what if Greg Olden was healthy, but he would he
wasn't gonna be just I don't think there's anything they

(01:36:22):
could have done. And Jonathan the same thing here, You're saying,
wait till next year. What if he gets hurt in
game one? Now, next season is almost kind of like
another Okay, here we go. We're starting from scratch. So
so I don't I don't think that you just staying out.
If you're playing and your injury prone or your brittle
or whatever you want to call it, it doesn't matter

(01:36:42):
when you're just not he John sent him in. I
start off talking about like, I get where people are
coming from. I could even understand it, but at some
point you gotta play, and it's just too much of
the season is left. It's not like you got hurt
in January and you could have come back for the
last month. No, let's sit him out. You got hurt

(01:37:04):
with the whole season left, so I think you just
gotta play. And the whole point of it is still
you don't rush him when he's one hundred percent, You
know what I mean. When you're one hundred, you go
out there. If you're one hundred after the All Star break, fine,
if it's a week before the All Star break. Whenever
you're one hundred, doctors signed off everybody, you feel good,

(01:37:26):
you could cut, you could move Chris, you could do
everything your basketball player can do. Then you should play. Yeah,
and he's practiced. If he practiced today full go, I mean,
it just doesn't seem possible. He won't be ready before
the All Star break. I could understand, that's a full
month and a half away, you would I could understand
if you bring him back after the All Star break.

(01:37:47):
But let's be honest, if he's practicing full bore, it'll
be before you would think he can play before that,
because if they said he had a full practice, and look,
it was six to eight weeks was the prognosis, It's
been much more longer than the eight weeks now, and
so yeah, I mean, see what he can do. I'm sure,
he's eager, and there are a lot of people that

(01:38:07):
think he gained some weight, you know, while he was
sitting out, So get him out there playing running getting
that weight. You don't want him to get too big either, right,
No you don't, No, you don't. But tough year for them.
This was supposed to be the year where they're a
pretty good team and it just hasn't, you know, manifested itself.
Also be more fun for the fans because I want
to see Zion. I want to see what he can do.

(01:38:29):
He was great in the preseason, rob twenty three points
a game, seventy percent shooting from the floor. He was amazing.
It'd be it would It would add a little more
possess to the season. I think you already got some
pretty good storylines, but they add a little more if
Zion could come and play. And to all the talk
about the ratings being down, that's part of it too.

(01:38:50):
One you got the Pelicans on all the time and
no Zion. No, definitely people were looking forward to it.
Don't forget durant is her. Yeah, I mean there's a
lot of factors that go into it, but a lot
of her. The Golden State's not a factor exactly, Kyrie
Irvan has been heard, I mean Thompson. Yeah, there's a

(01:39:11):
lot of things that are that are factoring into it,
and people especially You're right, all those games for the
Pelicans will put on those national broadcasts and you're going,
like h especially early on they're playing better, like you
said lately, but before that you're turning on and there
down twenty five. You're watching that game, Chris, you could
be an NBA fan. You're watching that. No, no, not
down twenty five. I'm not watching no, no. All right,

(01:39:34):
there's a reason some folks call Nick Saban the biggest
villain in sports. We'll get into that and so much
more controlling and rolling with our man Martin White. That's next.
But first, be sure to catch live editions of The
Odd Couple with Chris Broussard and Rob Parker weekdays at
seven pm Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio
and the iHeart Radio app. All right, it's thee I

(01:39:55):
Couple Chris and Ribb coming you live from the Geico
Fox Sports Radio studios. It is easy to say fifteen
percent of the more on your car shooters with Geico.
Go to Geico dot com. Or call eight hundred nine
four seven auto. The only hard party is figuring out
which way is easier. It's time for trolling a rolling.
Tom Brady, he's done. Aaron Rodgers did not have a

(01:40:19):
Pro Bowl season. It's trolling or Rolland Happy New Year
to the odd couple. Happy New Year, brothers, Happy New Year,
appreciate it. It's time for trolling a rolling everybody's favorite segment.
And thank you for my Christmas and Birthday gift. You're
well got bolts. At the same time, it was just
like a parent that really loves you. We're combining the

(01:40:40):
gifts this year. Oh is that it? If you ever
heard trolling a rolling, I'll break it down for you
real quick. If the boys liked the story, you hear
you hear the roll sounds. And if they don't, you
hear the troll sounds. Oh man, hey, hey, hey, hey
hey hey. So we all know there's no love lost
between Nick Saban and Jim Harbaugh. Saban ripped Hardball back

(01:41:02):
in two thousand and six. I'm sorry twenty sixteen after
Harball held his infamous satellite camps in Southeastern Conference territory.
So when Alabama was demolishing Michigan twenty eight to sixteen
with time running down. No one was surprised when Alabama
called a running plans that are taking a knee while
running up the score. Hardball countered by calling a time
out before the last play for Shape Patterson just to

(01:41:23):
throw a game ending interception. Rob Are you trolling or rolling?
Nick Saban running the score upon Jim Harball. I'm rolling
with it, rubbing in his face. Do whatever you gotta
do that the third highest paid coach who hasn't won
Jack has been a major disappointment at Michigan. Make him,

(01:41:44):
make him grovel, make him feel bad. I loved that.
Nick Saban, do your thing. I'm rolling as well. Are
you your daughter goes to Michigan? Look, man, you getting paid,
like you said, you're getting paid million highest BA. I
never the major college level. It's one thing if you're

(01:42:05):
playing a Division three school or you know, Division one
against one, Double A or something. But everybody's a top
notch program or the pros. I don't want to hear
about running up the score. If you don't like it,
stop us tackle me so I don't score. Don't try
to hurt me, but stop me from getting an end zone.
If you don't want me to dunk on, you block

(01:42:26):
my shot, keep me out of the lane. But I
don't want to hear grown men getting paid. And in
this coach case, the coach is getting paid. The players
on scholarship, half of them going to the NFL. No,
there's no such thing as running up to score. It's
affair trolling. A rolling odd couple of Fox Sports Radio.
Carmelo Anthony made his long away to return to his

(01:42:49):
longtime NBA home last night. When the Portland Trebles just
beat the New York Knicks, Carmelo morphed back into that game.
O boops, you're right then, I'm sorry, I just read
that Knicks are actually playing well. Yeah, no the Nicks one.
Carmelo morshed back into prime, Carmelo scoring a season high
twenty six points in the loss late in the fourth

(01:43:14):
That's what I said. Right late in the fourth quarter,
Knicks fans started chanting, we want mellow, we want mellow, Chris,
Are you trolling or rolling Knicks fans wanting that old
thing back? You know what, I'm gonna be nice and
I'm gonna say I'm rolling with it now. I don't
believe for a second that they actually want Mellow back,

(01:43:36):
but you're showing him love. Okay, it was. It didn't
go well when Melo was there, let's say, but for
a few individual performances here and there. What he scored
sixty one sixty two one night he got him That
year they went to the second round of the playoffs,
win fifty four games. He was second MVP voting. Outside
of those few things, it was a failed tenure, and

(01:43:58):
they could have been harshawing. They gave up half the
team for him. They could have really, you know, gave
it to Mellow. I'm glad they took the high road
and made him feel good. They don't want Mellow back,
but you gave him love. I'm cool with that. I'm
trolling that, of course you're if you're writing, you're ripping,
I'm trolling it. They oh, man, hey, yeah, they want

(01:44:22):
their boot thing back for one night because it's cold out.
After that, they don't want their boot thing back. Exactly.
That's all it is. Yeah, all right, Mellow's in town.
We don't want you to stay. What time's your flight?
I'll drop you off, you know what I'm like, Yeah, exactly,
that's all it is. They don't want Mellow back that

(01:44:43):
nothing happened when he was here. They went to the
second round one time. Stop it just this Mellow's pretty
good compared to what they are now, I get it,
but still long term, nah, I can't. I'm not buying
that trolling the rolling odd couple of Fox Sports Radio.
As you all know, January second, it's about the time
where everybody breaks their New Year's resolutions. Only about twelve

(01:45:07):
percent of people actually keep their New Year's resolution. And
head coach of national national title contender lsu at origin
Roun he made one. He said he'd probably tried to
eat less, but it won't happen. Rob. Are you trolling
or rolling New Year's resolutions? And do you have one?
I'm trolling them? Oh man, hey, hey, hey, hey. Now

(01:45:28):
what I do do is I make a list of
things I want to accomplish in the Colundar year. But
it ain't one of those you know what I mean.
It's just like, these are some things I want to do.
Last year, Chris, you know this because I talked about
certain things. I had a list of about twelve things
that I wanted to do. An article was on it,
buying a new car, remember to watch I really wanted

(01:45:49):
to get, you know what, I want certain things like that,
and think other things I wanted to accomplish losing weight,
working out, so I put that on that list and
then I try to scratch off as many on the
senior new avatar you you have been working out? Yeah,
you see, I'm swollen on my avatar. The avatar is
like it looks more like Anthony Joshua than Rob Parker.

(01:46:13):
Come on, Alex, you know I'm swollen like you. Now, Rob,
you don't stop, you don't sleep. I love it. Yes,
I am trolling resolution he Now I will admit I
should be more. I think I need to be a
little more discipline discipline or make a more concentrated like playing,

(01:46:34):
like these are the things I want to improve on.
But I I you know, I got him in my mind,
like I want to do this, I want to do that,
but but you gotta write them down. I know I
should do that because I think it'd be it'd be
better for me. But now I don't make resolutions. I'm
pretty happy with where I'm at and what I'm doing.
But there are obviously things you can improve on, and
uh so I have them in my mind in here

(01:46:55):
where it counts, Martin, What about you? Do you have
a New Year's resolution? I made some New York resolutions.
It's more dare to share, save some money. Okay, saving
savings is good. I could do that. Get the shit.
But did you did you put one stop buying a
new pair? No sneakers this year? No? Stop it none.
You know that you're serious? Not one pair, not one

(01:47:17):
pair of this year. And here's here's the other thing
I did. I put down the first one hundred days
of this year not buying anything, you know, other than food.
The groceries are gas. Yeah, but nothing. Just one hundred
and twenty days. And I promise I'm going to live
by how many pair of sneakers did you buy last year?
Do you know? Probably keep? Probably twenty five. I'm serious.

(01:47:40):
I'll just say, for somebody who trolled New Year's Resolutions,
it sounds like Rob has a few. No, but it's not.
It's just on the list. No, definitely, I would bet you.
But you you have all the control of it. But
I have, But you know I have controls. I don't know.
I'm not sure because every every every other week you
walk in with a new pair are sneakers that cost

(01:48:00):
one hundred Alex? Do you think I was always talking
about sending girls to college? You ain't sending girls? And
how you buying the sneakers? No, not what you're doing now.
I'm going to Atlanta in a couple of weeks, so
you know I'm gonna have to need a new pair
for no. No, no, I'm just bringing money for them.
You know that, all right? Right? So what was one
of your saved money? I need some specific, some savings

(01:48:24):
in order. Okay, I'm gonna put that one out there
because I don't want everybody know how rich or broke
I am. Okay, but working on that broke, working on
a six pack I don't cost no money. Right now,
he has are you? Now? He has a call, he
has a cake. Now I'm gonna get in there. I
wasn't in there a lot the last week. I've been
in the gym. I'm gonna get the gym working on that.
You look slim, and I'm trying to make this a

(01:48:46):
full time thing. Remember right now? He was he used
to weigh five hundred pounds. I don't know if Chris
knew that I knew you were bit wasn't five hundred. Now,
come on, you were looking over going like hundred. He
was my biggest two eighty three. He waited two eighties
two six feet about six one six two go. You

(01:49:06):
should see the picture. I was a healthy eater. You
were up there, but that's all I got an unhealthy eater.
What do you wait? Now? Like one shout out? Good,
good job. So you lost one hundred pounds. Just about
the best way to lose one hundred pounds is gain
one hundred and ten. What I'm saying, the best way
to lose one hundred pounds to d and muscle, because look, everybody,

(01:49:30):
you lost one hundred pounds, Like, it's like, oh congratulations.
If either one of you lost one hundred pounds, we'd
be like, yo, what's wrong, let's go to let's go
to the hospital. Something's wrong. Oh yeah. The only way
to lose one hundred pounds, it's the first game of
buck ten. All right, I get you. All right, that's
our man, Martin White. Shout out to him for trolling
the roll in another great episode, more The Eye Couple

(01:49:50):
coming up. Keep it like Fox Sports Radio, be sure
to catch live editions of The Odd Couple with Chris Brusso.
Then Rob Parker weekdays at seven pm Eastern four pm
Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeart Radio app.
This was a good show. It was it tried, Rob

(01:50:11):
che going to man, he was trying to be saying
for the sun if you should come on after Champrence
on NBC. It wasn't as good as that was Jack
Albertson and Freddie Prince, Freddie Prince, Freddy Prince. Was it? Yes, tragic?
He died tragically, he died young. Oh yes, say will
fault Chico and the Man? Yeah, I really did say

(01:50:35):
will for Chico and the Man. I really think all
you did was who I didn't get? You know, every
song from nineteen fifty seven through two thousand and four,
and then that's what I started watching TV. All right
about that? You know, that was the last TV show,
petticoat Junction to Family Ties or whatever family matters. All right,

(01:51:00):
all right, we're gonna I'm gonna share a little thoughts
on David Stern, the commissioner in the NBA who passed
away to late commissioner and former commissioner. But first we
got some breaking news with Steve the Sager. Breaking news
from Fox Sports. Well, this is at least an update
on the Cowboys situation from Edward or ESPN saying Jerry

(01:51:20):
Jones and Steven Jones have moved slowly and with an
abundance of Karen respect for Jason Garrett, but that phase
is expected to conclude soon with Garrett not being part
of the Dallas organization. The next phase would involve the
candidate interviews. Quote. One thing people should know regarding the
deliberate and confusing process in Dallas, the Joneses would not

(01:51:41):
be operating like this if they had any indication they
would actually be risking a head coach candidate they desire
most to other teams. But Dallas Morning News said, yes,
Garrett's had at least two meetings with the Joneses. The
two sides did not meet today. All right, thank you,
thanks Steve. All Right. David Stern, thirty years commissioner of

(01:52:01):
the NBA took it. I was on Fox Business News
today talking about it. When David Stern took over the
NBA rob in nineteen eighty four, league revenue was one
hundred and sixty five million total. Now think about it
nowadays you got players. One player gets a contract for

(01:52:21):
more than that that is unbelievable. Now it's worth, of course,
five point five billion dollars. I think, Rob, I think
you disagree, but I think David Stern was the best
commissioner in American sports history. And here's why I say that.
Not that he was perfect. He made some mistakes, for sure,
but I think he had obstacles to overcome that other

(01:52:44):
commissioners didn't. And I'm talking about the three big sports, Football, basketball, baseball.
Baseball obviously was America's pastime, so that was a built
in advantage football was. Even though you had half of
the league at that time, may be a little more
than half was African American in an America that was

(01:53:05):
more racist back in the seventies and eighties than it
is today, you still had a lot of white stars,
and especially quarterbacks who were you know, they were keep
blacks from being quarterback for the most part, So you
had a lot of white stars that you could sell
to mainstream American stuff. The NBA was about seventy five

(01:53:26):
percent black as it is today and viewed as a
league that was too black and in the seventies that
had the drug problems, and the image was this a
league that's too black and too drug infested, and it
didn't have the history of being America's pastime or anything
like that. It had always been number three if that,

(01:53:50):
among American sports because boxing was huge at one point.
So I think those obstacles he overcame them to make
the NBA America's of American sports. It's the biggest global
brand that America has in terms of sports. And he
deserves a lot of credit for that. We talked before

(01:54:12):
and you had said he certainly, you know, you don't
give him as much credit because Jordans, Magic Bird, Elijahan, Barkley,
guys like that came in and no doubt they deserve
a ton of credit as well. But David Stern still
had to create the business model to maximize those guys

(01:54:32):
platforms and their greatness because they were. We always had
great players in the NBA in the seventies and early
in the early eighties. You had Doctor Jay. He was
as exciting, maybe not not quite as good, but as
exciting and as big of a superstar as Michael Jordan.
You had Kareem Abdul Jabbar, you had you had white
superstars to pistol, Pete Marivich, you had Dave Cowins. You

(01:54:54):
had Bill Walton, who had led the Blazers to a championship.
You had Doctor dunk Stein, Chocolate Thunder Daryl Dawkins for
exciting players. So you had players that you could market
and sell to the American public and make your sport
more popular. But the guys that preceeded Stern did not

(01:55:14):
do that, And his genius was in marketing individuals. And
with marketing individuals comes storylines, comes personal ties, and that
is what has made NBA players, even though it's not
our most popular sport in the country, NBA players are
the most marketable, most recognizable athletes in America, in the

(01:55:37):
country and throughout the world. And I think David Stern's
business model had a lot to do with it. So,
you know, he was rough. Some people said he was
a bully. I had good interactions with him, but I
think he was a great general manager and a big
reason that the NBA is thriving as it is today. So, uh,

(01:56:02):
you're writing, you're ripping. No, No, we'll talk more tomorrow.
I can't do that. Justice We'll do okay, all right,
it's the we're back. You'll be studying the night on
how you can tear it at apart pus
