of doubt, and then all of a sudden you were like,
maybe it wasn't as good. You know, Rob as usually
the most honest guy in the room, So if he
tells me it wasn't good, it wasn't good. Rob, g No,

and maybe something else, so we'll see. But anyway, another

(02:35):
then in the third hour, David Gascon steps into the
hot seat. Is this his first term on the hot seat? Yes?
And guess God has the pipes you know, like to
be he's a broadcast. Yeah, but he's met burn up.
You know what I mean? I just couldn't you just
roll up on the hot seat? Just could you sound good? Though? Mean,
you know what you're talking about. You know what I'm saying.

(02:57):
I'm telling Gas sounds terrible, but we know what we're talking.
I hope he's listening. On his way in. He just crashed. Yeah,
speaking of trouble, he's in trouble. That's all I got
to say. Can I tell you my little thing real quick?
Before we introduced the odd Couple crew? So I dropped
my car for just a simple oil change, you know,
I got a new car. Basically, I'm like, okay. So

(03:20):
the woman hits me back from the dealership. She says, Okay,
your car's ready to come pick it up when you're ready. Okay, cool, Thanks,
I'm having lunch. Phones ringing, it's the dealership. It goes
to voicemail. Because I'm thinking, okay, she gave me a message.
Maybe she thought she didn't call me. Phones ringing again,
phone ringing again. It's the dealership. I'm like, what's going

(03:40):
on here? I'm coming, like what what? What did you
want me to come get the car? Like like right now?
I got to pick up a car that's been oil changed.
There's no room. Then she says, hey, uh, how are you?
I said, I'm doing fine. She goes, oh, well, I
have some bad news, and her voice changed. I was like,
what bad news? What are you talking about? She said, yeah,
your car was involved in an accident. I dropped it

(04:03):
off for an oil change. How are you gonna have
took your car for a joy ride? They said they
were going to wash it or something, you know, like
they were on the Pacific Coast Highway with the with
the top down, air hair blowing through the wind, probably
some alcoholic beverages or something. Has that ever happened to you?

(04:25):
When you a dealer shop, your car gets crashed because
usually there's nowhere to crash in the garage. Well, see,
I guess they don't have a place to wash the
car in the garage, or they gotta take it out,
because that's what they were doing washing it. After you know,
you get an oil change or service. They always wash
it and cleaned it out. So I was like, what
So now I got a loaner, and now I was

(04:46):
gonna be in the body shop. It isn't as bad
I showed you the picture, Chris, as bad as I thought.
But but but still, it's just it's a little shocking.
It's the principle. I was going to ask them to
give me a new car, like I want a totally
new car. I don't want that car because now when
you go to car facts, the car facts, it's gonna
say that my car was involved in a crash. Wow,

(05:08):
at least that card. Yeah, is that? You know what
I was thinking? Having impact? Yeah, I know what you
were thinking. We was to try it. I was thinking
I should get out of it and then go get
the others. I know what you want. You know what
I want. You should do that, try thinking it. You
could blame it, obviously, you can blame it on them.
On the deal with yourself. I want out of this car.
You know what, I'm never gonna I just bought it.

(05:28):
I'm serious, right, I just bought it a few months ago.
And now it's dinged up exactly, and you guys dinged
it up. I didn't ding it up. I think you should.
All right, so that always goes my job. Are you
gonna do that? We'll see what happens. I'm figuring not mean,
though you gotta have a little mean. It can be
mean if I need to. Like, if I'm in a
store and somebody's like not doing right by me, I'll
just say real quick, you don't want me to act

(05:50):
black in here, do you? That's what I said, and
usually I get my way. Did you really say that?
I said it before. You don't want me to act
black it here? So why don't you just return this
and give me my money back? Another day, that woman
was saying to me, Hey, wait a minute, the tag
doesn't matter. I said, miss, what are you? Here's the receipt.
This is the tag that's on the clothes. Don't tell

(06:13):
me the tag don't don't match. You got the I
bought it two days ago, so you wore it with
the tag. I didn't wear that. No, I didn't wear
all right. It is the odd couple. Odd couple, cool Chris.
We wouldn't be able to do this fine radio program
without the must welcome in Rob Ge, our producer Iowa
Sam of course our engineering for Alex. I was gonna

(06:34):
say that situation reminds me of something from Fair Spieler's
day Off where they take the Ferrari and they're supposed
to park it in the garage. Instead those guys, the
guys in the in the garage, they take it out
for a joy ride and then a dometer comes back
with like five thousand extra miles on it. I was saying,
how old are you, I'm thirty two. I'm surprised you
even know about Fair. Great movie, classic movie, classic teenage movie.

(06:57):
It is all right, I'm proud of you though. I
like that Dev Carsons is our sports anchor. You'll keep
us updated throughout the evening. And of course Elijah who
will take care of all the streaming Periscope, Facebook, Instagram,
Instagram and YouTube YouTube. So we got them all, so

(07:19):
we are in full effect. They're all on the other
side of the glass. Come on, Chris Bouchard on this
check cashing Wednesday, let's kick some asks. Well, I got
something to say, all right, I'm dead serious. I was
waiting for you to finish your little cartale. All right,
all right, if the Cincinnati Bengals do what many people
many reporters are saying they want to do which is higher.

(07:43):
Hugh Jackson. Yes, that Hugh Jackson. No, the one who
was three thirty six and one in Cleveland, the one
who's been fired from two jobs previously Oakland and Cleveland.
The one who, after a one in fifteen season said,

(08:05):
I guarantee we will not win only one game next year,
and if we do, then I will take a dip
in Lake Erie only to go winless and win zero
games the next year. That Hugh Jackson. If the Cincinnati
Bengals hire him, Rob Parker, America, you will not hear

(08:29):
one negative word out of my mouth. In fact, I
want the Cincinnati Bengals to hire Hugh Jackson because I
am convinced after the way these hirings of NFL coaches
are going that there is absolutely positively no standard for

(08:52):
hiring coaches. There's no standard. How in the world can
Cliff Kingsbury have a losing record at a lower level
thirty five and forty at Texas Tech three straight losing seasons,
fired by his alma mater, get a head coaching job

(09:13):
at a higher level. The NFL VIC Fangio, sixty years old,
nice defensive coordinator, did a great job in Chicago. Never
been a head coach in his life on any level,
sixty not thirty, not forty sixty, and never been a
head coach. Freddy Kitchens never been as high as an

(09:37):
offensive coordinator at any level except for this last half season.
Half season. He proved enough to them in a half
season as an offensive coordinator, and he gets the head job.
And of course Matt Lafleur, who only went to Tennessee
and made the offense worse. That's the criteria ry Parker

(10:03):
from being a head coach. In other words, there is
no criteria. It's not based on wins, not based on
you know, experience as a head coach. What in the
world is it based on. So that's why if Hugh
Jackson is hired by the Cincinnati Bengals, I will do

(10:23):
nothing but applaud it because I do actually think Hugh
can coach. I thought in Oakland when he went eight
Nate he got a raw deal. And I'm not saying
any of these guys, Kingsbury and Kitchens, they may be
good coaches, but generally there's an expectation that there's a criteria.
You have to have a resume, and now I'm saying

(10:47):
the only thing I would hold against Hugh Jackson is
his resume. But nobody held that against Kingsbury Fangio Kitchens
on the floor, so I'm not gonna hold it against
Hugh Jackson. I don't want Hugh Jackson to get the
Cincinnati Bengals job. I'm tired of the NFL doing the

(11:08):
same thing over and over, which is just setting up
black coaches to fail. And Chris, this is what we
gotta get rid of a terrible job. Here's one gets
a terrible job. Let me, can I just give you
like the coaches who got fired, the black coaches who
got fired, Okay, all five of them, all bad teams,

(11:30):
nobody's given nobody's given a black coach access to like
the Packers or some some other good team with a
good quarterback. Here are the five guys got fired. Arizona
historically backback okay, the Bank quarterback. Yes, they haven't won
a playoff game in twenty five years. Media, okay, quarterback, okay.
The Browns, they had won one game in the last

(11:51):
couple of years. Rookie quarterback, all right. The Jets, same thing,
they haven't won a Super Bowls his nineteen sixty nine
and Denver. So when they do higher black coaches, Chris,
do you know what the problem is? It's always the
bad team where you almost have no chance at winning
or turning to Roland was and this has been one
that was got a good job right and this but

(12:13):
this is what this is. Normally in that San Diego try,
you got a quarterback, but that team was struggling before
I got there. But normally this is what the charges. Again,
have they ever won anything? No, this is what I'm
saying is and the only guy who's ever got an
opportunity was Jim Caldwell, who went after Tony Dungee won
a Super Bowl and decided to retire. They turned the

(12:36):
team over to him and at one point, remember they
went fourteen and over or something. Yeah, okay, so but
I mean there were fourteen to know when then he
set the starters and I think they lost the last
two games if I think if I remember correct, and
he did a good job. I mean Detroit was what
nine and safter he went to the playoffs twice, went
to two and three times, and now you got Matt
Patricia And this is what I'm trying to la who's late.

(12:57):
I hadn't eat late for meetings, right, the head coach,
it's late for the team meeting, and I'm not This
is not an overstatement. Tell me, rob g I was saying,
If it is, that's like us being late for our show, right,
were showing up at four or fifteen? Yeah? Just you know, Eli,
just take it till we you know, till we show
up at four or fifteen for the show. Come on,

(13:19):
play something from yesterday? What did you say? He said,
What do you say the equivalent? We'll just play something
from yesterday? That would be it. Play something from yesterday
until we get there. Right, We'll get there when we
get there, don't you know who we are? We wre
on TV this morning. We'll get here in my hands
going backwards to boot exactly. No, But Chris, do you

(13:42):
see what I'm saying. I gotta I got a problem
with the league. This is why when when Black Monday
turns into black Black Monday because black, because the black
coaches keep getting the worst teams. They didn't look, they
didn't look at a brother and say, hey, the Packers
or some other job. It's always the worst time. And
I get it most of the times. The job that

(14:03):
are open or bad teams. But it seems like the
black coaches normally get the worst teams that you can't
turn around. Nobody can turn around. So they hire a
black guy for a couple of years, they got a
young quarterback, back, quarterback, whatever, they can't they fire him,
and then all of a sudden, they're spending money on
free agency. They go get a quarterback, and then and
then all of a sudden, now they go, Jim carwell,

(14:25):
thanks very much, but we don't need you. That's exactly
what they did in Detroit. You went to the playoffs
two out of three years in Detroit, yeah, which doesn't
make the playoffs generally, and you still got fired for
what you have now, I mean, come on, that's all
I'm saying. I want you to get it because I
think you might do a good job. I'm not overstating

(14:46):
this with this with these teams. No, he's an altimate
teams they are and those are the guys. All I'm
saying is I'm still waiting. I don't know, Like, you
got two black coaches in the league with thirty two teams,
that's seventy percent black. The players of seventy percent it
would be like it would be like the National Hockey

(15:06):
League having seventy percent of the coaches be black and
ninety five percent of the players being white. It would
be unheard of in any other industry. It would not
even make industry where a lot of times the coaches
come from playing backgrounds, if not in the NFL, then
in college. And then the thing that's even crazier is

(15:29):
most of the guys, a lot of the coaches never
even played, They never even played in the league, never
even played. So then you got this situation where you
go Bill Belichick never played in the NFL. You could
go down the list. It's a ton of them. Of
the coaches who get these opportunities, and guys who actually
played in the league, who've done everything they could to
get a job and coach and being an assistant, you

(15:52):
know what I mean, and all those things scout whatever
it is to get an opportunity. So all I'm saying is, no,
I don't want to see the Bengals hire Hugh Jackson
another bad situation just so that he could get fired
into year or two. I don't let the let the
I want them see him get a chance another chance.
I mean Heck, it's progress if we got black retreads. Yeah,

(16:15):
but we don't have black and that's what I'm saying,
So we can make you a retread. All right? Are
we off the base or what do you think? What
are your what are your ideas on this? We give
you your chance to weigh in eight seven, seven ninety
nine on Fox eight seven, seven nine nine six sixty
three sixty nine. What in the world are the standards

(16:36):
for hiring a head coach in the NFL? We'll continue
the conversation with you. It's Fox Sports Radio VII Couple

(17:46):
All right, you tuned into the eye couple Chris Bruce
Sard and Rob Parker. Rob Parker was just talking about
his car in an accident. And let me tell you something.
When you're shopping for car insurance, consider this. Geico has
been saving money on car insurance for over seventy five years.
So if you're serious about savings, it's simple. Go to

(18:06):
guycod dot com. After seventy five years, they know how
to save you money. And we start off the show
and I said, look, I don't know what the standards
are for hiring a head coach Denver. You need to
work on your offense. Your defense is fine. You hire
defensive coach who's sixty and has never been a head
coach at any level. And Vic Fangio might be great.
This my rant was not about that any of these

(18:28):
guys aren't might not be good coach. I have no idea,
None of us have any idea if they're gonna be
any good. But I'm just saying, typically there are qualifications
that you have to meet, and African Americans are constantly
told about the qualifications that you have to meet, and
then all of a sudden you're not using those for

(18:48):
other people you hire. They're getting better jobs. And my
problem is I don't want Hugh Jackson to get the
Browns of the Bengals job because it'll just be another
black coach in a bad spot so that he could fail.
And everybody will say, see them, but they get they
can't do it that those are the jobs that we get,
those are one of them. All I'm all in. I'm
all about you now, No, I'm all about I don't

(19:11):
want Hugh to be some token You don't want that
because I don't think he would be though, because they
you know what I'm saying, but they really do want
him but a token hire. Because the NFL fired black
five black coaches got fired on Black Black Monday, and
then uh, there were eight jobs open and no black

(19:31):
coaches got a job. That that's that's gonna be the
end then for the NFL, is that there were eight
coaches fired, and there's talk, there's no block. See that
Miami likes Chris Richard. We'll see, we'll see, right, But
I get it. And that's the thing I don't want. Now,
you got three coaches, three spots left. I don't want

(19:53):
one of these teams just to hire a guy because
he's black, right. I don't want that. And that's not
what you know. You want, just fairness. And that's what
I'm saying. I'm looking at the credentials of the guys
being hired, most of them not Bruce Arians of course,
and I'm saying, well, we're the credentials. What's the standards?
Eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox, you chance to

(20:16):
weigh in? Eight seven seven ninety nine, six sixty three
sixty nine. Let's start with Ronnie can't remember the other night.
Let's start with Ronnie in Toledo. Ronnie, welcome to the
old couple. You know how I found out about you guys.
I have a I'm in a truck in industry, so
I have a couple of friends out of Ring in
North of us in Canada. They turned me on to

(20:36):
you guys and they live in another country. Oh you're serious.
I had when I heard you guys sub jets rats
at uh skip who Shannon woo wow here we appreciate that.
And you're a homeboy because you know I'm from Ohio,
so uh we got love for home. Yes, yes, hey,

(20:58):
I you know I've been agreement with you guys. But
I'm not really well versed. And who are the offensive
coordinators and fensive coordinators that are an African Americans that
are worthy of getting a chance. But I would believe
they would because what you see in the in the
hiring of coaches, they always talk about the same guys. Yes, always,

(21:18):
it's always the same guys. And yes they may be
a white color, but it's always the same guys. And
as far as Cliff Kingsbury, whatever his name is, the
thing I keep hearing about him is he's an offensive genevery.
You know, the new style is Sean McBay. Everybody wants
a Sean McBay his innovative ideas about the offense, and

(21:39):
I guess Kingsbury or Klingsbury fits that mold. So I mean,
are there guys out there, because again, I, well, that's
what that's what. I was actually texting with one of
the black coach in the NFL. He's not in the
league right now, he's been a coach in the NFL,
and he told me he thought that it wasn't racial.

(22:00):
It was more about, you know, got teams going for
offensive coaches rather than defensive. That's all. That's always. It's
always like, yeah, vic Fangio, Denver needs an offensive coach,
and they hired the defensive coach. And again, nothing against
Dick vic Fangio. He might do a great job, but again,
what what what's the criteria? And who's the old Boy

(22:21):
Network which which actually brings in new boys? And and
because now these young cats and what a Cleveland they
hired the guy a bathroom, I mean kitchens. I'm sorry
when Rob g loves that higher he has no idea why,
but he loves it. That's because Rob loves to eat,
so he's always in the kitchens. That's why he loves it.
Why I was saying, I was saying, better give me

(22:45):
I got his own little stuffy Dustin and Bakersfield, California.
You're on the yad. A couple of Fox Sports Radio. Yeah,
I'd like to push push back, baby, push back. You're
free to do what you want here. YEP, I really
appreciate that. Okay, when it comes to like white coaches
or black coaches, you guys are talking about criteria, and
I agree some of these hireds are like really whacked out.

(23:07):
I'm a Raider's fan, so I've seen a lot of
garbage over the year, even the group. When is a
I mean for one hundred million, come on, Well, yeah,
I'm hoping that works out. But that's just that's just weird.
I can't stand that they're going to Vegas. But anyway, Um,
you guys are talking about the criteria, but what's the
criteria for keeping the coach. You talked about five black
coaches being fired, but I can't imagine why you'd keep

(23:29):
Hugh Jackson or you know, you had Todd Bowls with
the Jets for like what four years? Yes, No, no
one's saying that they can't hold on Dustin, that they
can't get fired. But I'm just saying the only jobs
they seem to get, all the worst franchises that don't
have that haven't been able. White guys can't win Denver.
Denver has been a good franchise, right, but they hadn't
been when they hired. They had fallen off when they

(23:51):
hired Ben Joseph. All of all I'm saying is Dustin,
if you we lost them, if we keep doing that,
then then they'll they'll they'll never succeed. And I would say,
we're not saying every black coach is gonna be great. No.
Jim carl Well to two year out of three years
in Detroit, why he was fired. Yes, they lost the

(24:13):
playoff game, right, they lost? That was it. They said
that that's what they do in Detroit. If they get there,
they lose. Right, But they said Bob Quinn said that
wasn't gonna be good enough. Just making the playoffs. That
was his thing. So what is Matt Patricia doing his
first yoar he didn't make the playoffs. So it wasn't
that enough to make the playoffs. But but but of
other things that Matt Patricia did and Steve Wilkson Arizona, Look,

(24:38):
whether the guy can coach or not, he had one
shot one year with a rookie quarterback on the team
that we knew was gonna be bad. So that's that's
all we're talking about. Look, we're gonna get to you guys,
stay on the line. But first we want to talk about,
is the Lakers two and five record without Lebron actually
a good thing for King James Ten year NBA vet

(24:58):
Ryan Hollins has the answer. Next, we will get back
to you on the phones a little bit later, but
first we're gonna bring in Deb Carson to tell us
the latest in sports deb But hey, guys, well you
guys have kind of hit on this already. But the
Broncos new head coaches Vic Fangio. The Bears defensive coordinator
Fanjoe gets a four year deal from Denver with a

(25:19):
fifth year option. Gary Kubiak, who had been a senior
personnel advisor, will be the Broncos offensive coordinator. Sticky situation
in Cleveland, the Browns promoted offensive coordinator Freddie Kitchens to
be their next head coach. Well, Greg Williams, who had
been their interim head coach, was also their defensive coordinator,

fifteen percent or more in your car insurance with Geico.
Go to Geico dot com or called eight hundred and
nine four seven auto. The only hard part figuring out
which way is easier. And we are excited to bring

(27:11):
in our next guest. He's just a great analyst. We
were talking about this off the air. Robin. I Uh.
He's honest, which a lot of ex players aren't. They
don't want to, they're afraid to, you know, say the
wrong thing or offend somebody. And our next guest keeps
it real and we love him for that. Is ten
year NBA veteran Ryan Hollins, My man, Ryan, what's happening? Brother?

(27:32):
Tell us? What is going home? We're good, man, We're good.
We've been talking a little NFL, but we're gonna switch
it up with you on the NBA. And look, I'm
just gonna start it. I took. I just talked about
how honest you are. And Rob Parker broke the internet
last week and the television too up there that was

(27:54):
why the right He said that James Harden is the
best player in the league. I said, he's awesome. I said,
but I still am not saying he's the best player
in the league. Where do you stand on this, Ryan?
I mean, are we talking about his just his of

(28:15):
current players? Talking about right now? You never is the
best player? Change every week? Like cool? Who see That's
what I'm talking about role? But I but even the
last year does not change every change racial who's the best?
But change playing the best? Hold on? So what do
we are we giving out like like, I mean, Lebron James,

(28:39):
ain't Lebron James? Like thank you? Is he right now?
Is he Lebron James? And Lebron James? I know it
is currently on a team that's built out, that's barely
five hundred and has been swept two years, almost swept
two years in the row in the finals. That's the
best player in the league the finals? Well how many finals?
His hard mento? Where where he's laying his team? He

(29:02):
didn't get swept the last time he was the sixth man.
He'd rather not go and get swept like Lebron. No, man, listen,
listen James Harden. He's playing phenomenal. I'm watching him improved
time and time again, defensively. No matter what we want

(29:25):
to say, the man is capable and now he's wts
to defend and he is. He's doing just about any
and everything. But you can't tell me that whenever Lebron
wants to, he can't put his pedal to the metal.
Rob Parker and let him have it. Now, when you
see James Harden cooked like that in the Game seven

(29:47):
of the playoffs lead his team to an NBA championship,
Now my whole conversation changes, Brown. He does it with
some form of consistency. My whole conversation can change. But
you can't tell me I'm with you right now he's
playing to the best. Question, he's the best, Robs don't

(30:10):
know what to say. No, actually, is that a tier?
I heard, I heard what you said. I just I'm
just talking about right now. The best player who I'm
watching right now in the league gets him and whether
or not he's the best player, so so what whether
you were hiding behind right now, right now, right now,

(30:30):
right now, he is tonight Yannis might be the best. No,
it's not that, I'm just all right, all right, let's
let's move on. I got one if you don't mind, right,
Jimmy Butler, there are reports that he was causing some
problems again in Philadelphia. We know he had issues in
Chicago and Minnesota, his only two other stops. Do you

(30:51):
think this is a problem for Philly? I mean, they're
playing well with him, they're sixteen and six with him.
But do you think this is a problem or much
ado about nothing? Not at all. I I actually really,
I actually really like really really liked this. Uh and
it ain't for every organization. And Eldon Brandon company knew
what they got when they got the Buckets. You got
a truth teller. Truthtellers. Okay. I just became one after

(31:17):
my career, Okay, okay. And I actually had a talk
with Jimmy Buckets recently before everything kind of came out,
and Jimmy stepped into Elton Brand's office and they had
a little talk. But it was interesting. Before Jimmy had
his talk and Rob we talked about this on First Take,

(31:38):
everybody blew blue a gasket last summer when I said, uh,
they wouldn't make it Philly wouldn't make it past the
second round because my man Simmons doesn't have a jump shot.
And then guys like Rob Parker jumped on my bandwagon.
That's neither here nor there. Then I took it a
step further, okay, and I said, since a client, Jimmy Butler,
Ben Simmons is now actually getting in the way, and

(32:00):
you may want to consider putting him on the bench
in the fourth quarter when it's winning time when I
need a bucket. He's getting in the way about that,
And I got just okay, okay, so hear me, how
do you put him on the bed? You're right, because
what's what they're doing is they're putting being on the
post and that makes him putting mbat at the three

(32:22):
point line for spacing. And then in beat is the
guy setting the screen. But inb don't necessarily want to pop.
And when everybody was critical of his three point shooting,
with my dog going through the best big man he
went and got dirty in the paint, he would have
got dirty. So because I'm just saying, Jimmy Buckets is
just expressing, well, I don't say that Brett Brown knows it.
Brett Brown is not an idiot. He went't boring yesterday.

(32:43):
It's just cash, like Jimmy Buckets and Ryan Hollins. That's
all I'm saying. No one agree. And the whole thing
is Brown asked them for input. Don't ask people for
no input and then be mad when they tell you
something you don't want to hear. So I am buying that.
Here's the other thing, Ryan, I think the Lakers are

(33:05):
in trouble, especially if Lebron is out another week or
so because of the Western Conference and the seating. Everybody
had them being the second round, second team in the
West and they would play a home series. And if
this continues, and when the Lebron gets back, there are
five hundred team and barely hanging onto a playoff spot,

(33:25):
they might be a first round casualty because they're in
in the bottom four of the seating. You disagree with
that they're in danger that they are, but listen to me.
As soon as it happened, as soon as Lebron he
tweaked this deal on first day, I got through out
and we said, listen, it's gonna take two to three
weeks and Lebron will be back. And this couldn't have

(33:49):
come out a more favorable time in the in the
in the season now. Unfortunately Rondo ends up going down,
but they're all paced to play about five hundred ball,
which can laugh. I see when till Lebron James gets back.
So within the next week or so, you're gonna see
it healthy, renewed, rejuvenated Lebron. Are you sure? Are you

(34:09):
sure about that? Are you just guessing? I know the
growing injury. I've had it happen. It's a common thing
amongst ball players. So Lebron James is gonna be back
within the next week or so. But this is one
of the did did you have one when you were
thirty six thirty four years old and played a million
games and the most minutes in the NBA? Is that
when your growing thing happened? So I'm trying to just

(34:30):
credit that injury. This is a common injury amongst ball players. Okay,
it's a common injury. I just missed it. I had
one right in the column in Seattle. I had the
same thing happened to me. Oh my gosh, hey, hey,
so listen, listen. They got the Pistons, who are no
pushover the Jazz. But then you got the cavaliers of

(34:51):
the Bulls, and you're gonna take an ad to the
Thunder or you cassability have a chance to win it
in the Rockets. They listen Lebron James shoul back by
January seventeen against the Thunder just in time, and they
actually took the Thunder to the wire at home. So
now you lasted. They're in the ape spot, and not
just that. You're gonna have a healthy Lebron James. The

(35:13):
guy is running and drawing, shooting and doing all those
little things right now. But this is an injury walpart.
You gotta be safe. This is in game seven of
the playoffs. You don't go and throw him out there
this early in the season. So the Lakers are absolutely
in a decent spot. But what really really hurt is
that run John went out and you didn't think that
that would happen. And I just think you know him

(35:35):
and Chris Paul, the little altercation man. God don't like
ugly man. So maybe my guys are getting some humble pop,
both of them. All right, it's the eye couple. We
joined by ten year NBA veteran Ryan Hollins, Ryan, we
got about a minute left. DeMarcus Cousins supposed to come
back January eighteens for Golden State. How do you think
he's gonna fit in there? If you're gonna be excellent,

(35:56):
They're not gonna ask him to do anything that he's not.
He's gonna gonna be squitt on screens that show on
pick a roll. He's gonna get buckets on the block.
He's gonna rebound which state dangerously dangerously imminently need, which
is rebounds. Um, he's gonna be a difference, man, but
he's not gonna be anything that he's man. All right,

(36:16):
all right, that's the great, Ryan Hollis Man, excellent job.
I'm glad you sat Rob straight on James har that matter,
and I want you to know the next you know,
while you were on first take keep mentioning it, we
were watching The Undisputed, so we didn't see you. But
we'll be nice if I could be on understand. But

(36:37):
a skip thaylist might be scared of me, man, I
don't know about that Skip Bay scared of anybody. He'll
have you on. We'll get you one. We'll see. I'm Gona.
I'm gonna eat him up, all right, Ryan, great job man,
take care of all right. Age is nothing but the number.
I'll explain next in Bruce ARD's Big Six, it's the

(36:58):
Eye Couple Fox Sports Radio. From a car landing on
a roof to a car landing in the pool, we've
covered it. Talk to farmers. We know a thing or
two because we've seen a thing or two. We are
farmers underwritten my farmers truck fire insurance exchanges and affiliates
products unavailable in every state. Are you back with the
Eye Couple? Chris Bruce Ar and Rob Parker? And guess

(37:20):
what it is? Time for Bruce Arts Big Six? Are
you ready the heat? Like lepron, We're going big. It's
gold town. It's Bruce Arts Big Six, all right, Rob.
Yesterday we were talking about Trevor Lawrence being able to
go to the NFL after his freshman year. It got
me to thinking about hardship cases. So this week's Big

(37:44):
six are the best NBA preps to pros players of
all time. Number six Tracy McGrady. At one point, Tracy
McGrady was battling Kobe Bryant for the best swing man
in the league. Status everybody talks about. He never won
a playoffs playoffs, but hold on, it wasn't his fault.

(38:06):
In four playoffs series, he averaged thirty or more points.
In six he averaged twenty five or more points. He
put up numbers in the playoffs. His teammates just didn't
get him any help. Number five Dwight Howard. I know
everybody looks at him as a kind of a laughing
stock now, but Dwight Howard in his first eight years
was phenomenal, phenomenal. He beat lebron in the playoffs when

(38:30):
neither of him had a second start. Picked that game series,
I remember it. He got Orlando to the NBA Finals
and he put together one I'm telling you, people are
gonna live the best dunk performance in the slam dunk
contest history. In his first win, I think it was
two thousand and seven, and he didn't want to play
with Kobe so bad. He left thirty million dollars on

(38:52):
the table, right right. That's when his career went down
here when he left Orlando, he's the poster child for
the grass is not always greener. He should have stayed
in Orlando. Number four Kevin Gardinett KG one of the
best leaders, I would say in NBA history. Loyal to
a fault. He didn't want to leave Minnesota even though
their team was terrible. He wasn't even making the playoffs.

(39:15):
But when he finally relented and went to Boston, he
became a part of the Big Three, and that kind
of led Lebron to one of Big Three, and all
of that kind of changed NBA history. So, Kevin Gardinette,
number four, number three, Moses Malone, fou fou faul. You
remember that, mister Parker. Yes, you mean, I've been covering

(39:35):
the league. I remember Moses, Moses Malone when he stepped
into the ABA. Now he went from the high schools
to the ABA. He averaged nineteen points fifteen rebounds as
a rookie right out of high school in the ABA
in Utah. I think he's a part of one of
the greatest teams ever, that nineteen eighty three Philadelphia seventy

(39:56):
six ers team with Doctor J. They swept Magic and
Kareem in the NBA Final. Great team. Sixth best center
of all time, Number two Kobe Bean Briant. This one
was obvious second best two guard ever, behind only Michael
Jordan and I'd say he had the second best Laker career,

(40:17):
Laker career of all time. Kareem is the greatest player
to ever play for the Lakers. But of course Kareem
was you know, half of the time with the Lakers.
He was passing the team no once. Yeah, but he
was great. I'm just saying, yeah, I get you, I
get your magic, greatest Laker, But Kobe right there at
number two, number one, and you care to guests Rob

(40:39):
parkas helfare to Lebron Lebron James. He's the only high
school the pro player in NBA history, not ABA NBA
to play near an All Star level as a rookie.
He stepped into the league straight from high school at
average twenty twenty. Kobe average seven as a rookie, Kevin

(41:03):
Garnet average ten. There were no no he came right
in and was doing damage. I was at his first
game twenty eight, nine and seven against a really good
Sacramento team in Sacramento. So Lebron James's the best player
ever to go from high school directly to the pros.
You remember those good Sacramento teams. Oh, Chris Webber, Pages

(41:25):
Stoyakovic was Sam real Quike bibby the ABA. What color
was the basketball? I believe it was uh of red
and blue and white. All right, you didn't get it?
You got it right? Yes, you you You sound like
you got lucky. But you got because it's red, white
and blue. That's the way he said. He said red,

(41:46):
blue and white. Right. It's probably the only time in
American history it's been said that way. Couple. Yes, you
are on with the I couple. He is Robbed. I
am Chris, and we are coming to you live from
the guy Fox Sports Radio Studios. Fifteen minutes could save
you fifteen percent or more on your car insurance. Visit
geco dot com for a free rate quote. Last hour, Rob,

(42:09):
we were just talking about how I don't understand what
the criteria is for hiring head coaches in the NFL anymore.
I do. What is it? It's the old boy, It's
the old boy that works. They bring in a little
they bring in some new young boys, but it's the
same the same guy. Adam Gase was just hired as

(42:31):
Dave Carson just reported by the New York Jets as
their head coach, and Adam Gates was six and ten
two years ago seven and nine this year in the
same division as the New York Jets. He didn't get
done the post to resurrect Ryan Tannehill, didn't do any
of that. But but this is my thing. He just
got fired and he got rewarded like getting a bigger

(42:52):
job in New York College. And I know the Jet
seven won Jack. I got that. Miami has some one
jack in a long time not walking through that door.
But I don't get it. I don't. I don't get it.
And it just tells you too that if you're Mike
McCarthy and you're still running the two thousand and five offense,
and you're a little a little too many steak and potatoes,

(43:13):
and you got a little older look to you, they're
not interested in you. They're not interested. Well, it's certainly
off I mean, Vic Fangio got the job. There's only
two jobs open now. Yeah, McCarthy, don't look. I don't
understand why everybody thought, now, maybe he still will get
a job. But Mike McCarthy, our complaint was, your offense

(43:34):
is too simplistic. Your offense is not innovative enough. Your
offense is behind the times. You had arguably the greatest
quarterback in the league and you didn't do anything with him,
so why would a team run to hire him? Although
with the way some of these hires are going, you know,

(43:55):
maybe I should be surprised he didn't get hired. I'm
just saying it, and it just proves my point that
I made last hour that this is ridiculous. There are
no standards for hiring these head coaches. It's just whatever
wim this particular owner wants to go on. And that's
why I'm gonna be fine if Cincinnati Snatty hires Hugh Jackson,

(44:15):
I'm gonna be just fine. I'm not. I don't want
you to take that job. I don't because at this
they'll give him security. Though you saw it how patient
they were with Marvin Lewis. Yeah, but it's not good.
I want not. He had that in Cleveland obviously, but
you just didn't have players. But he didn't have he
didn't get any patience in Oakland. So in Cincinnati, maybe

(44:36):
you'll get a real shot some players. But that's why
I couldn't be a doctor, because I don't have any patience.
That's one of your better ones. That's actually when Sam,
are you sleeping over there? What are you doing. He doesn't.
The last thing Sam's expecting is for you to say
something funny. So Gill get on Sam because he wasn't
ready for that. How ready shocked? All right, we're gonna

(44:57):
get back to that. And I know a lot of
you on the weigh in the phone lines are lit up.
We will get back to this topic of the NFL
coaches next hour, so stay tuned you will get a
chance to weigh in. But first we want to go
to the NBA and talk about Kevin Durant versus should
I say, versus Walt Frasier. And we want to say

(45:18):
this before before you just laugh at wal Cliente Frasier
and the clothes and all the other stuff and his
vocabulary on the broadcast for the next games. He is
one of the fifty greatest players who ever played. Fraser
was a star, a superstar, and he and he Chris
that role that he played him and Joe Namas back

(45:40):
in the seventies when they got on the first coach
and driving the Rolls Royces and they were like big
time New York stars. So let's not don't diss him
like he's some nobody or whatever. He is one of
the stars of the NBA, no period, no question period.
He won two rings, yes, two rings with the and
when we always see you know the historic iconic IF

(46:06):
tape of willis read limping out for that game seven
Uh in the finals. The star of that game was
Walt Frasier. He had thirty eight points, nineteen or six.
He was unbelievable. I just want a bunch of steals too.
I want the millennials who don't know who he don't
get it twisted about him and act like he's a nobody.

(46:27):
He's a bona fide top fifty player of all time.
He's play well. Said, Uh that to that point. Uh,
Obviously the New York Knicks want to get Kevin Durant
there GM Scott Perry worked with Kevin Durant in Seattle
when Durant was drafted. Um, his agent is based in
New York and a lot of people think he wants

(46:47):
Durant in New York. M Durant, you know, he may
leave Golden State in New York is certainly gonna be
on the list. And but here's what Walt Fraser said
last summer, and with the Knicks playing Golden State last
night and not surprisedly getting blasted Kevin Durant putting up
twenty four points the h Here's what Walt Fraser said,

(47:11):
it came up, it became a story. So this is
from last summer. Walt Frasier Durant. I mean it's great
a player he is. I would still hold back because, man,
he joined a team that really didn't need him, you
know what I mean. I mean, he's he's right there
with Lebron, probably with Surpassabron is the best player in
the game soon. But for him doing that, I still

(47:32):
don't give him the full credit that he probably would
have deserved if he stayed with OKC and won a
title with that team, that would be uh astrich by
his name and uh Walt Frazier said he was flabbergasted
by the pushback he got, you know, from the whole
comment about Durant. But I'd say, Chris, I'm flabbergasted that

(47:55):
he was flabbergast. I'm flabbergasted that the close he's still
wearing a twenty nineteen. Seriously, but you know, to quickly,
guys get caught in eras. But the guys get a
lot of dudes from that era. Have you seen World
be Free ever in the game where he's caught in
that era Calvin Murphy. But that's because in that era
Alan Iverson better be careful. I mean, he he's this

(48:16):
stuff isn't quite as bad as it used to be, right,
But he could get caught in the era too, So
you gotta stay current. But to clothes that Clyde are
where those stores close down twenty five years ago, I mean,
at some point you got to start doing some more shopping.
I don't know if this is true, Rob, but I
was told that what Clyde does is he'll go to

(48:37):
like you know how you go to a pawn places,
what the cloth cloth places that sell cloth where they
call him, you know, like if if you want to
reappose crazy and he'll get the material and he'll have
his tailor making a suit. We no, I believe it
that because he it's now it's a part of his
persona on television in New York and he and he

(48:59):
does a great job with the knicks. He's done it
for a long time, like over thirty some our years,
become somewhat iconic. Yeah, no, even off the court. And
the funny thing is, look at the difference between him
and I know Bruce Bone wasn't some big star with
the Clippers, but it caused Bruce Bone his job. Talking
about Kawhi Leonard and then walk Clyde Fraser says it's

(49:21):
about Durant, which you'll be like, you're scaring them away,
you know what I mean? And they would never like,
like you can't fire walk Clide. It's to your point earlier.
I mean, he was one of the fifty greatest players ever,
led him to Ken their only two championships, and yeah,
and it didn't even play for the clip right right.
So but anyway, here's the what we're wondering. I mean, Rob,

(49:44):
do you think Durant needs to leave Golden State and
win it somewhere else? Is it New York? To kind
of get that? And what Kaide meant, we're not talking
about a literal asterisk. No, but what he's saying is
on a lot of people's mind. I would say it
this way. It's not getting rid of the asterisk, it

(50:05):
is getting rid of the Yeah, but no, I agree,
that's what you know, that's yeah. But I don't think
Clyde is off base at all. I think, but a
lot of people think that. And the only way to
me for Durant to really like build his legacy is
and it's not that like he lets his wagon on
and he wasn't big in the finals and MVP. We

(50:25):
get all that. So so he did all that. But
if he can go somewhere else, lead his own, lead
a team or even I don't know, you go back
to Okase and win a chap like Lebron went back
to Cleveland. You go back to OKAC and win a championship.
Now they have Paul George, but still but still, I'm
just I'm just saying, like, if you would go somewhere

(50:46):
else and win a championship, he could go to the Clippers.
It doesn't have to be in New York. Now if
you go to New York can do it only because
they haven't won since nineteen seventy three. It would put
you on on a on a plateau, uh that nobody
else is on. It would be like, Wow, this team
that hadn't done jack and all these years, he comes
along with another fla where they put him I think

(51:10):
depending if they win. He can't be Jordan, So let's
not Jordan. Not Jordan. But if he say, say they
win three or four in a row the Knicks. No, no, no,
I'm saying the Ward say least leaves straight three straight
or after four straight. So he decides to stay for
the first year of the New State and they win,
they win four in a row. He's on part with
nobody right as far as and I think that would

(51:32):
remove a lot of the Yeah, but because he won
four straight, because nobody else is done, but it's still
with that. Ye, there's still a little tens and then
he and then he goes to say the Knicks and
they win a championship and won, you know, three four
years down the road, and he's the main guys. It
would be huge. I think people would look at him totally.
Here's the thing, and Walk brought this up Clyde Frazier

(51:54):
about Yeah, if he goes to the Knicks and wins it,
there he'll be, you know, up there with Michael Jordan
and Lebron James. Here the problem, it's the Knicks. What
in the Knicks, how many games if they won eleven
something like that, I mean the world Friday Night, you know,
in the world they got ten wins. I overestimate it.

(52:15):
The Lakers Friday Night and going to the Knicks and
leading them to the championship. Kevin Durant is outstanding. Kevin
Durant is phenomenal, But he ain't going to the Knicks.
The Knicks have a star. He's hurt. They got Chris Stop.
He's always hurt though, that's the problem. He's hurting. Now,
can he play a full season? I want to if
I'm Kevin Durant, I love KP. Porzingis. No, you don't.

(52:38):
You're ripping them. No, he's always hurt. I want to
see you on the court. I don't want to see
you in the hospital. Are you blaming him? Or? People
get hurt, Chris. They know all the time. There's a
hundred hospitals around here. People get sick, People get hurt.
Chris stops. Port Zingis gets hurt too much. My cars,
and I'm not sure that Christos Porzingis can be my

(52:59):
wing man because he gets hurt too much. He look,
he played seventy two games, he played sixty six is
second year, all right, he's going down. He played forty
eight last year and he's not gonna play that mini
this year. All right, Let's see if he could get help.
I want to if I'm Kevin Durant. You sit, I
sit in Golden State for my fourth year, win my

(53:21):
fourth straight ring, and watch and see if port Zingis
can get healthy and do they get a Kyrie Irving?
But if they get a Jimmy But if you need
somebody else, I got it. But if he's healthy, say
comes back and you see port Zingis is healthy, you
win your four and then there's a chance of getting
somebody else. Say that Kyrie stays in Boston but he
has an opt out after second year or something. I'm

(53:41):
just saying like yeah, or Jimmy come me, Jimmy kell
I'm just gayer scenario right, And Durant says, well, I
mean Porzingis is okay, he's been healthy playing well, Uh,
this guy is available. You know, Jimmy Butler can join
come to New York because he was on the Knicks
war on his right. And then Duran and then you go, Now,

(54:02):
let's look at the ease. Let's see where it is.
Kyrie left, I mean a choir left. You know what
I mean. I'll give you. This is what I'll say
to you, Rob, because again I think he could go
to the Clippers and lead them to a championship, and
that would remove the Yeah. But but of all the places, like,
what would remove it more than anything, what would be

(54:23):
the best for his legacy. If he's gonna lead another
team to a championship? You are absolutely right. If he
led the Knicks to a championship, there, that would be
the best thing for his legacy. There's no that would
be bigger than Lebron leading the Lakers to a championship.
The Lakers always win. Him leading the Knicks, who haven't
won it since nineteen seventy three and haven't been good

(54:46):
in ages, right, it'd be huge. But that's a tall order, man,
there's no doubt. I mean, it's a tall order. But
if you're going to if you're going to take that
leap after you've won three or four in a row,
it's worth a gamble because especially if you win four,
it's the payoff. Right, You're not gonna you're a made
man because you four. Because if you don't win in
New York, everybody goes nobody was able to win in

(55:07):
New York. They're not gonna totally blame it on every
So you don't lose, you win four three. Look, he's
already a made man, he's got two, he wins three
if he won four straight. We talked about it, Lebrown, Magic,
Kareem Oscar. None of them did it will Michael Bill

every Wednesday. It's none other than mister Eddie House. What's
happening today? What's up? What's up? Fellas? Was good? How you?
I'm good? Man, I'm feeling I've been a better never

(57:00):
man's up in these lbs? Left and right? Man Zo,
what does that diet zea diet or whatever it calls. No,
I'm not on that. I'm on a hoop diet. Man.
I played you bawling. Okay, so that's what's dropping the pound.
But that the cheesecake at night at midnight ain't gonna
help that. No, No, you know, I try to stay
away man. You know, I do have my occasional cookies
here and there, but I'm trying to stay well I'm

(57:20):
being disciplined, man, right, I'm glad. I'm glad to hear that. Well.
We were just talking about how you remember last summer,
Walt Frazier said that for Kevin Durant, you know, he
needs to go somewhere else to win a championship, to
remove in his mind the asterix that's by his name
because he went to a team that really didn't need

(57:40):
him seventy three wins and all that. What's your feeling,
I do, Eddie, A lot of X players that I
talked to, there is kind of this, there's always this yeah.
But with Durant, you know, there's always this yeah. But
he went to you know, and so do you feel
like he really does need to do that to get
the ultimate respect that he deserves. No, I don't. I

(58:02):
don't think so for this reason is um, it's just
other people. I think he made the right move for himself,
right to go there, to win a championship, to get
things going. If he wants to go somewhere else, it's
for him. But we want to knock something that he
did his success right for going to go to Stay.
But look at what he has an asterisch because he

(58:23):
went to that team that was already set, is what
they say. But you could put asterist on a lot
of things in sports. What if if Jordan didn't retire,
would Houston Rockets have won those back to back championships? Right,
there's asteris there? You know what I'm saying. It's like
those type of things that you could look at. So
I think it's it's for KD is not going to

(58:45):
be the best player until Lebron leagues or Lebron starts
falling off, and it'd be the best player in the league.
And as far as the greatest of all time. I mean,
I don't think he's in that category for for this reason.
He just doesn't do all. He's just not He's not that.
He's just not that. Uh. I don't want to stick
of the sound blasphemous. It's just he not that dude.

(59:07):
But he is that dude. But he's just really not.
I don't think that him by himself can take over
a whole franchise and be like, Okay, put him on
it back. This is why we're good. This is why
we're gonna get to the playoffs. This is why we're
gonna make a run, uh in the finals with me
to these health. Yeah, he has to prove that, but
I don't. I mean, but he's gonna need other players

(59:29):
in New York though, right, he can't do that by himself. Oh,
I got poor Zingis. If he was healthy and maybe
Jimmy Butler joined him, that might get Okay, So what's
the difference what's the difference of when I mean, I
think about what Lebron did, right, because this is what
we're while we're saying to Greg when he was with Cleveland, Okay,
he had Kyrie, he had Kevin Love, but we know
Kevin Love was some timing and everybody else was I mean, well,

(59:54):
I mean whatever everybody was else was filling players. Um,
they don't. If Duran have Porzingis and another guy, another star,
it'd be similar. Yeah, it will be. It will be, Yeah,
it'll be it'll be similar. But then again, if he
needed help, look at look at what Lebron doing with
the Lakers right now. This is the thing. This is

(01:00:15):
the difference. If you took Lebron off of the Lakers
and put k D on the Lakers, or the Lakers
gonna be doing as well as they were when Lebron
was playing. That's my question. I don't know. I think
they would. I think you know, of course you would
have think I wouldn't even talking to you. Wait a minute, now,

(01:00:36):
wait a minute. I'm glad you brought up the Lakers too.
Are you a little concerned now? On pace to be
a five hundred team? And uh, now you keep say
they look like Eddie, this is twenty two and nineteen.
That's not five hundred. It is because they're gonna be.
They're gonna be nineteen and twenty two to second half.
But anyway, Eddie, here's my point. Uh, the difference though

(01:01:01):
these games, some of these games that they're losing that
they should have won, like they lost to the Knicks
at home. They've had some bad losses in Lebron's absence.
If Lebron has gone another week, two, three weeks, I mean,
they could wind up falling to the second half, you know,
the five through eight in the Western Conference and have
to go on the road and could easily get knocked

(01:01:22):
out in the first round. I mean, the longer Lebron
is out, the more it hurts there. They're seating in
the in the NBA in the Western Conference. Do you
agree with that? Of course, it's gonna hurt that they're
gonna not have as many wins. But when he comes back,
what about all the wins they'll start piling up once
he comes back to kind I mean, it's it's hard
to make up those losses, um, But at the end

(01:01:43):
of the day, when you look at it, he is
so important to that team that he put them. They
were in a position what were the third to fourth?
They were third or fourth in the in the West?
Now yeah they were ye. I mean he's been hurt
for two almost two weeks, man, I mean, I mean,
what do you expect he's about play. That's that's what
shows everybody that like his worth to that team, you know.

(01:02:04):
And like I said, if if Kevin Durant was still
on there would they be if you if you flip
flop him, right, if you take Lebron off the Lakers
and put kd there, what they have been third or
fourth or before and say he got hurt at the
same time, there was no way but Eddie, maybe those
guys would have been able to play better with Durant,
like Brandon Ingram who wasn't being able to play well.

(01:02:25):
Stop it. Like, maybe those guys play better with Durant
rather than Lebron. You know, Lebron's hard to play with. No,
you know, he's not hard to play with, He's just
he's demanded. My question is this, how is it hard
to play with somebody who's a willing pastor as a
post Kyd is is not a think about KD. His pass.

(01:02:45):
He can pass, but that's not his thing. So you
asking Brandon, how is Brandon Ingram gonna get his money?
He likes the ight, So how is who's gonna I mean,
you know, I these guys who have been being set
up by Lebron this whole time, So I mean, I
just wouldn't now the Lakers are gonna be fine once
he kids back Man and he and we was proving

(01:03:06):
that when they were when he was healthy and they
all were healthy, they were right there at the top
of the Western Conference. I'm charging. I'm trying to tell
you Lonzo would make free throws if he was playing
with KD. Eddie h Golden State they're right now, they're
the second seed. They're twenty seven and fourteen. They had
lost three straight at home before smashing the Knicks last night.

(01:03:30):
Do you think that they're vulnerable? I think some people
are starting maybe fans. I don't know if people around
the league really are starting to think that, you know what,
maybe they won't win it this year. Do you think
they're vulnerable. I think they're the most vulnerable they've been
since everything's come together. It's still not like they're gonna lose.

(01:03:50):
You still know what they are capable of doing. Clay
had forty last night. Um, I mean, anybody on that
team at any given night, I can give you forty.
You might have two guys just able to do that.
I mean, they're able to do it, but you might
have two guys that do it in one game. You
never know. But I think they're vulnerable because everybody going
to blame it on the You know, it's monotonous to them,

(01:04:12):
it's old. But also going to four straight finals, it's fatigue.
You know. You you you're long seasons, short summers, you're
right back into the grind and you're short summers. You
out everywhere, you're in China, you're doing things, you're doing
all these promotions. You really don't have time to press
the reset button. And they use the regular season as

(01:04:32):
a reset button. But you gotta be careful with that
look at how Draymond is playing. Once that's fat with
Draymond and Katie. I don't know what's going on with
Draymond's game, but he doesn't even want to take shots.
He doesn't look like himself, he's not sliding his speed.
He wanted to be defensive player of the Year. I mean,
that's that's a far reach for him to try to
accomplish that now because he's not playing defense the way

(01:04:52):
he used to be playing. So this is the most
vulnerable they have been. And that's not saying that they
can't still win it. I'm just saying that if you're
gonna have a chance to knock them out right now,
they're a little wildly look like it's the eye couple
of Chris Brusa, Rod Parker. We're joined by NBA champion
Eddie House. Yeah. I just wonder sometimes I always say
in the NBA, the difference is is this is an

(01:05:13):
equal The equalizer when you talk about teams like them
is four out of seven. If this is a single elimination,
then I buy that you can knock them out. But
when you talk about having to beat them four out
of seven times, Eddie, with the talent that they have
and there. What is the report that Boogie Cousins is
coming back in the eighteen nineteen Yeah, yeah soon. I

(01:05:34):
still think that, Yes, maybe that maybe they've lost games
and not gonna win like they used to, But I
still think they're a very viable team to win again
and uh and compete. I agree with you. I didn't
say that because they're vulnerable. That doesn't mean that there
they still have a chance to win it. I believe
that they still have an opportunity because if you look
at there are five to six players is tough. It's

(01:05:58):
gonna be hard you define a five or six that
can match that, especially with their three. We'll just go
with with K, D, Steph and Clay. Those three right
there is and then you add Boogie. I mean, that's
hard to find four top tier players like that on
any roster. But how does how do you implement Boogie
Cousins into your offense? How do you have how does

(01:06:20):
he how is he gonna mess with the team. I
think he'll be fine, but still these are unknowns right
there and and right now. The way that they're playing,
they're not playing their regular type of warrior basketball. They're
struggling in games. I mean there's a few days, a
few I want to say, a week ago or somebody.
They lost the Sacramento I mean, I mean they had
a tough game with them. Just a couple of other

(01:06:41):
days they had a tough game with Sacramental. That's bankless.
Sacramento is not a great team. They're young, but they
have a lot of energy, so you can you can
catch them right now. They're vulnerable, That's what I mean
by being vulnerable. There you can get games and get
confidence on them. But in the playoffs when it comes
down to it there, I think they're still the clear
cuff favorites, but they can't get got Eddie. We everybody

(01:07:02):
was saying, including myself, when Ben Simmons was a rookie,
he's a problem. Now is he a problem in another way?
In the negative way? Because he can't shoot like I
watched him and there he can only score driving or
you know, he's got some nice stuff around the basket
and the post and all that. So I see them
playing him in the post, and then Embiid has to

(01:07:25):
be outside for spacing and NBA doesn't like that he
wouldether be in a post, Like do you think that
this could be a problem for Philadelphia. I think so,
because what happens is, you know Christ and Rob, when
the playoffs come, everything is condensed, Everything slows down, the
game gets tighter. You know every single thing about every

(01:07:46):
person at your garden. You know their plays, you know
the play call, everything about him. There's nothing that you're
is not You're just gonna have to beat him. So
you can scheme for that. You have a guy that
can't make jump shots, you can scheme for that. You
can ye. You can't even go to hacker being if
you need to, because he can't make free throws. So
that is a liability when you have one of your

(01:08:08):
better players, one of your better players on your team,
top three on your team, that you can't really trust
them latent games because he can't make a jump shot.
Picking roles. We're just gonna go under him, you know,
we're not worried about it there, or we'll switch and
just go with or well, whatever will fall him. Send
into the free throw line, force him to make jumpers.
You know, when they passed to him, We're gonna stunt

(01:08:30):
at him and make him shoot you. And you only
can drive it so many times into especially if the
paint is packed in giving you that shot, you only
can drive it a few times to be successful. So
I think he could be scheam four. So that could
be a bad thing for them moving forward. All right,
you here, it's the great Eddie House. We appreciated brother
as always, and you might as well just give James

(01:08:50):
Harden the MVP trophy. Now it's all over. He is
killing though. I mean he's killing out there. Yes, he's
playing great, Rob says at this very moment yesterday, but
today right now, but Ron playing He's hiding behind that

(01:09:12):
right now. Lebron's not playing that exactly what it is
he represent right now. Hey, guys, I gotta ask you questions.
If you look at the standards, there's really no surprise
early on it. It was surprising, you know, all these teams,
But it looks like all the teams that we thought
would be there. I would ask you this, though, Eddie. Okay, Minnesota, Utah,

(01:09:33):
and New Orleans are out of the playoffs in the West.
You think they're gonna stay that way or one of
them is gonna move up? It's you know what, Minnesota
should they got the talent. This is ridiculous. They're gonna
knock the Lakers out of a spot. Who else, Well,
the West is deep. It's ridiculous, man, The West is
deep and look like just a and so bunched up

(01:09:56):
that if you go on a three game losing street,
you can be from third to ace like that. But
I think I think Minnesota dude does have the talent.
Is just are they gonna put it together? Because I mean,
we nobody trust Wiggins, you know what I mean? Nobody
trust Wiggins. And then what the performance Karl and Zi
Towns had last year. You kind of like the light
too bright Morens, you know. So it's unknown right there.

(01:10:19):
The Lakers need Lebron back so they could get some
cushion because Rob you you you own to something. Though,
if they don't get some staying going, they could be
on the outside looking in. And what a tragedy that
would be there. We wouldn't have Lebron in the playoffs
somebow how you had the best player in the world,
not even in the playoffs. They would not allow that
to happen. To believe you know what, I might would

(01:10:40):
expand it to ten teams. I might actually buy tickets.
I'm sorry. Alrighty house man, great job is always brother,
all right, man, say take more. The eye couple coming up,
but first let's get to Dab Carson for what's trending
and Death's the best too. Well, thank you, sir as.

(01:11:01):

Jets have a new head coach. Guys. They're hiring former
Dolphins coach Adam Gas as their next head coach. Jets
wanted someone who could come in, work well with and
continue to develop quarterbacks Sam Donald, and they believe Adam
Gase is the guy who was only twenty three and
twenty five and three seasons with Miami, but did win

(01:11:22):
five of six of the Dolphins games against the Jets.
So I guess if you can't beat them, have them
join you. Bronco's new head coaches Vic Fangio, the Bears

Does he have to stay in Golden State? Or I

(01:15:24):
should say, does he have to leave Golden State? Uh?
To get the asterisk removed from his name his legacy.
Let's start with Mark in Sacramento. Mark, how you're doing.
Welcome to the odd couple. What's going on? Gentlemen? Great man,
We're great? How are you good? All depends on how
you look at it. The way he left and who

(01:15:46):
he went to at the time he went. He may
have to do something to collect that. I don't know
what that may be in there, but those circumstances, going
to the team that gives beat gives a few months
before that, that's I think that's what's gonna stick with him,
and that's what he have to summow to wait correct that.
You bad couldn't go back to Oklahoma City. That maybe
the only way to correct that. But that's that's out

(01:16:06):
of the question. So you're saying that it's not so
much that he went to a great team. It's that
he went to the team that they had beat and
that they lost to exactly. And when it comes out
that he was communicating with Draymond Greene during since, I mean,
you know, that's to me, that's more of of what
people don't like and where he went. I'm I'm I'm

(01:16:28):
old school guys, I'm a must cities. I've seen guys
go to teams all the time and this is not new,
It's really not. I've seen what he did, you know.
I mean, vib McAdoo went to the Lakers with Macado
of the times, I would agree with that, But I'm
just saying I'm not gonna blame him but for leaving.

(01:16:51):
But what I am gonna do is the foot confessor
surrounding it, because he was just team that they probably
could have been. That and Chris, you always say this too,
and it's true. When we talk about the greatest of
all time, Nick nickpick right, So we look at only
things and all the things that go along. So that's
that's only fitting. You're gonna look and say, well, why

(01:17:14):
did he go there? Who did he have on his team?
This guy won without that, this guy that's what we
do when we're talking about the greatest of all time. H.
Peyton and Louisiana. You're on the odd couple of Fox
Sports Radio. What's up, hey, guys? How we doing tonight? Man?
We're doing how we sound in Louisiana? We sound good? H.
I didn't know Chris was born in New Mexico, but
I know he's got some Louisiana's high. So shout out

(01:17:36):
from Cajun Country, thank you. Now. I was born in
Baton Rouge. My parents lived in New Mexico before I
before I was born, so that's all I was saying. Yeah,
but yeah, I'm all Louisian. My whole family's down there.
There's a Bruce Art Street, there's a Bruce Art restaurant
in the French Courter, There's a Bruce Ar town Son Louisiana.
So if you go back to New Mexico, there was
some rent that wasn't paid. Is that what happened? And

(01:17:58):
then they wanted to go to New a go ahead
and pay Get into the Kevin Durant conversation. Um, I
think in the long run, Kevin Durant might have played
his cards right because once he goes to another team
and wins another ring. Say he gets three or four
with the Warriors and then goes to Nickson gets one.

(01:18:19):
It might just be a ring count after that, and
the media can just look at and go, Okay, he
got his rings and he did it like as a
lead soul player by himself on another team. So now
we're just counting the rings like if he finishes with
five or something like that. Oh, that's a good point.
I mean, look, if first of all, if he wins
four straight, now that's a tall order. But if he

(01:18:39):
wins four straight and Golden State, that's gonna be one
huge notch in his belt. And then if he went
somewhere else, especially New York, that's when I look, I
don't think he's better than Lebron James. I just don't.
And I'm not talking about this year. Ryan just looks
like a better player. But that would be something to

(01:19:00):
contend with when did it happen during n E right?
All right? Right? Think about that. The other thing for Rob,
I think with the Lakers in their playoffs seating, um,
I think at this point Lebron's not really concerned about
where they end up in the playoff race because he knows,
all right, if I've got any chance to win a

(01:19:22):
ring this year, I've got to go through Golden State anyway.
So even if I get him first round, I could
even build some from momentum for our team and we
can make a playoff run. So I think he's just lose, right.
I think he wants to look he would you would
want to have a home and the NBA a home
home court advantage is big, right, you would get him.

(01:19:45):
I get what he's saying because last year didn't matter
in the East. But I think he minds meeting anybody
else in the West in the first round. But if
you meet Golden State in the first round, is bye bye.
I just think that you would want if you if
you had it your way, Yeah, you wouldn't want to
have some games Edward in Nebraska. You're on with Chris
and Rob. Hey, thanks for having me on th say

(01:20:07):
can you hear me yea? Thanks for car all right, thanks.
I was gonna say that givin Durants never gonna find
the respect you once, because even if he wins a
championship in New York, they're gonna say head Port zingis
if he goes somehow they're gonna say that the goal
post does Lebron never get does he get respect? Now

(01:20:30):
here's here, here's the correlation. Lebron's the top guy. Kevin
Durant will overcome that the same way that Aaron Rodgers,
just for a parallel, won't overcome Tom Brady because Tom
Brady's the top guy. It's the way they've for marketing.
Just speaking as marketing, Edward, Edward, I hear what you're saying,
but I don't totally agree with that. Porzingis was yea,

(01:20:53):
and everybody needs something. Just leave. You can't do it
by hisself, Edward. Come on, man, that nobody's leading a
bunch of no names to the championship. Can we squeeze
one more end? We got time for Frank and Dallas. Dallas, Frank,
we lost you, all right, we lost him? Yeah, I mean, look,
everybody needs some help. Like I said, Lebron hasn't won

(01:21:14):
it without Wade and Bosh or Kyrie Evans. But but
the port Zingis was a nick draft pick me. It
ain't like it was ain't like he went three different
guys left different teams to go to New York to
go win a championship. That would be something different. Yeah,
if porzingis is and he would be a big part
of would be honest. Even if he went to the Clippers.

(01:21:35):
Let's say he and Kawhi went to the Clippers. That
would be different too, That would be I mean, that
would be different than Golden State. They got a good
team going right now, Clippers. That's why I say if
he went to the Clippers, if he didn't get Kawhi,
they still would be a really good team and have
a shot at winning it. And he doesn't have to
go to New York. No, it doesn't have to. Yeah,

(01:21:57):
but but to be a friendship franchise like that, you
know what I mean? You think, No, I'm just saying
like New York or the Lake Clippers, who haven't won.
I'm talking about like, so let me throw this in.
What if Jimmy Butler leaves Philly and Durant went to Philly.
You don't think that would but they hadn't won. Yeah,
but those are two good star players, but they're their
own players. So yeah, he would be the number one. Yeah,

(01:22:19):
all right, to see a couple, Chris and Rob keep

been talking about the NBA Kevin Durant and does he

(01:23:05):
need to go to the Knicks as Clyde wal Clyde
Fraser suggests to remove the so called asterix from his name,
which I'm not as so it's more of a yeah,
but it's more of a year. But yeah, but they
won seventy three games without him. Yeah, but they won
a championship without him. Yeah, but they were up three
one and uh lost to him. Yeah, but he doesn't

(01:23:27):
have money for a haircut. Yeah, but why are you
dissing this? See you personal? No, I'm not that's what
they don't I'm not going to play in. I'm just
playing He can do whatever he wants with his head,
if he wants it to be natural, be natural, all right.
I'm with that. The natural. Look the peasy peasy head.
See now that you that ain't no look, it's not

(01:23:48):
a disc. Nappy is not a disc. I said, just
a description. I said natural. I'm just saying peasy or nappy.
It's just a description. Whatever your hair is nappy sometimes,
no it ain't. Don't be saying that white white nappy.
Now he's gonna be like he's doing this his whole
light skin good as say. I know, I never my

(01:24:09):
legacy of white supremacy. My hair is good, it is good.
Your hair is good. Nappy is good. My hair is not.
I'm telling that all y'all black folks out there, ashamed
to your nappy hair ain't nothing to be it ain't
nappy all right, anyway, something I'm ashamed. I used to
watch him a lot on television when I was a kid.
Nappy Russell. Oh that was Nipsey Russell. Give him the

(01:24:30):
whatever your thing is for, Corny. I'm waiting Ia saying
come on or something. All right. Anyway, all right, you
gotta be ready, baby, you gotta be ready when I'm
on you know what, I'm ashamed of some of these
NFL owners, And I'm so ashamed that last week when

(01:24:51):
the news broke that Hugh Jackson might get the Cincinnati job,
that that's really who they want to hire. I don't
want him to get that. I said, no way to
borrow your phrase. No how really, I said it would
be ridiculous. How do you hire a guy who's three
thirty six and one in his last stint. But you
know what, I've changed my tune because NFL owners have

(01:25:13):
showed me that there's no standard, there's no criteria. It
doesn't matter what your resume says. We just hire whoever
the heck we want to hire. We like them. They
don't win, they're old, they're not what we need, but
we like them, all right, That's what's going on in

(01:25:34):
the NFL. VIC Fangio defensive coach Denver needs offense, and
it's sixty years on Earth. He's never been a head
coach anywhere. You mean, not in high school, not in college, nothing.
But that's not even the worst of it. Cliff Kingsbury

(01:25:54):
Texas Tech, not a football factory, not a Michigan, not
an Ohio state, not in Alabama. He wasn't even at
that level. He's a tier below even though he was
D one Texas Tech thirty five and forty. That was
his record there last three years there, losing record. That
was his alma mater, and they fired him. I tell

(01:26:17):
you this, out of all league guys who got gigs.
And I mentioned this before Chris when he got fired,
he jumped at the USC job. He never thought that
he would be up fool job because all Texas t
He wouldn't have taken a job before the Black Monday
and all the job became available. If he really thought

(01:26:38):
that he was on that level. It tells you that
he wasn't even considering himself as a NFL head coach.
Why you need to know? Why would you? And he said,
wait a minute. You know this is a copycat league,
and right now it's all about McVeigh. So now I

(01:26:59):
kind of looked like McVeigh and he's known as an
offensive guy. I'm an offensive guy. So now all those
guys are now getting hired. Who's the other guy who
had a cup of coffee in the sweet role with
McVeigh and they hired right, that's all he had went
to Tennessee this year as their offensive coordinator, and uh,
the offense got worse. It's got There were twenty seventh

(01:27:22):
in the NFL in points per game, and yet you
you turned Aaron Rodgers over to him. This is who
it's supposed to work with, Aaron Rodgers. There was some
other guy who brushed up against him at a bus
station and they wanted to hire that guy. So, yeah, anybody.
And then today Adam Gase, I mean, he wasn't even

(01:27:44):
a CAD coach yet. You know he had been fired
by Miami when we went off about this two hours ago,
and then news broke that Adam Gase is the New
York Jets new head. So let me te. So he
was six and ten two years ago, seven and nine
last year. So you fail in Miami and you get
a promotion to go to go work in New York. Yeah,

(01:28:05):
we know that it's New York. It is. And you
got Sam Darneld. You got a good young franchise quarterback
who made strategs first year. Chris rob I'm just baffled.
And again I'm not even Vic Fangio may turn out
to be great. Matt Lafleur may turn out to be great.

(01:28:29):
Kingsbury may turn it around. I mean, I'm not saying
these guys don't know football and may not be able
to coach. What I'm saying is, what in the world
is the criteria? Because African American coaches, five of whom
were fired this year, have been told time and time again, heck,
African American people, these are the qualifications. These are this

(01:28:53):
is the standard. You don't reach this standard right, qualified people,
we want to There's not enough qualified backs out there.
There was a time when the coaching process would happen
in the NFL where no black coaches would get interviews. Zero.
That's why the preposterous rule, the Rooney rule, that you

(01:29:16):
have to put in it, that you have to be
forced to interview black people for jobs in a league
that's seventy two three percent black. Just think about that.
Imagine the National Hockey League where where it's the ninety
five percent white and seventy five percent of the coaches

(01:29:36):
would be black. It would be everybody would look at
it and say, this, that's not possible. It makes no sense. Right,
we're good enough to play, but we can't coach. It
doesn't make any sense. And then some of the coaches
in the NFL. Who do it get these jobs? Chris
never even play in the NFL. I'm not saying that
that you have to, but it's just unbelievable that here

(01:29:56):
we go again and this coaching cycle is going to
come through, because I do not believe that the Browns
are going to replace a black coach with another black culture.
I think. And then my coach opposed like Chris Richard, Okay,
you think he's gonna get hired because there's somebody. If
I had to bet, I would say no, Mike McCarthy's

(01:30:17):
without a job. Miami might be his only other option. Yeah,
because Mike McCarthy gonna get shut out too. And here
here's the thing I wouldn't want, neither of us want,
and I don't think black people in general want them
to just hire a coach just because, oh you know what,
five were just fired. We had eight openings. We better
hire somebody black. Nobody wants that. You just want a

(01:30:41):
fair shot. You just want to know. Okay, this is
what I have to do to reach this level. If
I want to be a head coach in the NFL,
this is what I need to do. And if that's
the case for everybody, then that's great because we know it,
and I've got to go out and do that if
i want to get this job. So Mike McCarthy's not

(01:31:02):
getting the job because here's a tweet that came out
where he said, with the Jets job off the table,
Mike McCarthy told me this guy Tom Tom Pellicero said
that Mike McCarthy told him he's sitting out the season,
and his wife and kids started cheering at dinner when
he told them. Family excited about dad being home in

(01:31:22):
twenty nineteen. That's all that matters, as we both know
he'll prepare to be ready for twenty twenty. He'll never
get he won't get another job, I mean rob And
they also found out he took the DNA test. He's
a ten percent black. So Mike McCarthy's like, God, I'm

(01:31:49):
not surprised, though, Mike McCarthy, I mean, can we stop
talking about him like he's Bill Belichick? Can't we know
you had one of the best quarterbacks in history in
his But all I'm saying the offense was too simplicic.
Why in the world should people have been beating down
their door to get the Mike McCarthy, No, but the
guys that the motley crew of the guys that they're hiring,

(01:32:10):
that that's the only thing Chris is at least you
could say whatever you want about Mike McCarthy and maybe
after thirteen years it was time to move on, but
he did go to the playoffs nine out of thirteen years.
He has a resume that you could at least look
and say, this guy's accomplished some stuff. The guys that
they're hiring han't accomplished anything, that's the problem. And then

(01:32:30):
when they're no black guys who haven't accomplished anything in
the mix, that's the problem. That really is the problem.
If we're hiring a bunch of guys who are unqualified,
they get a few brothers. That's all I'm saying. Have
you saying that there's plenty one now if it's just hey,
let's let's hurt so and so. Didn't make sure some
of them are black? The league is too black not

(01:32:51):
to have two black coaches out of thirty two teams.
It's amazing too. That's it. So that's what we're talking about.

Rob how y'all doing show Man, Thank you, buddy. Appreciate
you to try to listen to y'all. Lisa Hour every day. Anyway,

(01:35:05):
I wanted to say, um um, I think I agree
with you guys about the running rule being just it's
I mean, it's just you know, smoking smoking mirrors, you know, right,
But and I consider like that rule is kind of
the same reason like the point you guys made the
other day when you made the point about it, it's
it's it's highly suspicious that the only two sports that

(01:35:29):
are pretomly i mean predominantly black, college basketball college football
you have to give them college years, right, you know
what I'm saying, sports, You don't have to write nowhere else,
even when even when we talk about tennis and golf
fourteen sixteen, this soccer, even soccer, every sport, baseball, baseball, everything. Yeah,

(01:35:52):
I had a friend. I had an actual friend who
was playing pretty pro ball while we were in high school.
You know, you know, I ain't gonna let you guys
discussing than support we appreciated. What about Kevin and Wisconsin.
You're on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio? Hey,
how you enjoyed Chris and Rob? What's happening? Hey? Well,

(01:36:14):
I guess my take on it is that just partly
because I want to speak on a different part of it.
But I feel like it's sad that it's twenty nineteen
and we're still going through types of things. It's just
it's just sad. Um. I don't understand it. And I

(01:36:35):
guess me personally, being a Packer fan, my my outrage
is not as much as far as not having a
black coach, because we all know we saw it when
they had Ray Rose. They gave him one year. The
man was five hundred. They ran him out of time
he was he was a Nate and what you what

(01:36:55):
you I don't know if you remember this. Ray Rose
was a black coach and it was the first time
I'm in NFL history. His offensive coordinator was black and
his defensive coordinator was black. It had never happened, and
it happened in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Yep, yep, and they
stay stay, you figured, if you have one year, give
me a chance after that. But but my outrage comes

(01:37:17):
from the fact of you got Aaron Rodgers at the
age of thirty four. He has probably probably three maybe
four good years left and you're wasting them with the
guy who had the twenty seven franc office. And it
was conscious. Everybody who's a Packers fan was like who.
We were googling, like who is? We didn't even know

(01:37:39):
who that's That's fair. You want somebody that can come
in and you'd be ready to win. Now again, they
thought they think it's gonna be Sean McVay, and they
came in right away and turned it around and uh,
you know, look, we'll see. I'm just saying the criteria,
the standard is, it makes no sense. Let's go to
Patrick in California. Patrick, welcome to the Eye Couple. I

(01:38:03):
fella the first time caller, a longtime listener. Pleasure to
talk to you guys. Thank you, Pat, thanks for calling. Rob.
I wanted to know how you felt. Chris also, Um,
you know, I thought we were making progress when we
had as many black coaches as we have had. But
some of these coaches are taking jobs through the setup

(01:38:23):
to sale. Yes, And you know what, Patrick Kristen, I
talk about that earlier in the show. That's the problem
that I have when I went over to jobs. All
of the teams are historically bad and the black coach
black coaches had Arizona, the Bengals, the Browns of Jets,
and then Denver, right, and and that's the problem. Now,

(01:38:43):
Mike Tomlin's done well, he's with a winning organization. He
got a chance to get a team that has won
and always been up there, right, and he's done that.
And then Anthony Lynn went to wa right now the
LA Clippers. But he's turned that thing around, the Chip
the Chargers. So here's what happens. But what happens, Patrick,
and I'm sure you understand this is it's like, look,

(01:39:06):
there's only thirty two of these jobs. I get it.
So I'm gonna take whichever one I get. It might
be bad. I don't take it. I don't want you. Yeah,
you have to because look, I mean, Anthony Lynn, the
Chargers have been to the playoffs what once in the
last six seven years before he got there, So that
wasn't a good job. He turned it around. I'm not

(01:39:26):
saying everybody McDaniel's turned the head coaching job down, didn't he? Yeah,
but that's you know that. You see that there's a
little leeway that they get that we don't. Absolutely, So
I just think that it's a situation where you have
to take whatever job you can get for the most part,
regardless of your race, for the most part, because there's

(01:39:49):
so few. But I just hate to keep seeing the
same thing happen. Hey, Derek and Sacramento. You're on the
odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Chris Ron?
How ya doing tonight? How are you? I'm surviving? Are
your backs feeling all right? Because y'all a care in
this network? You know that, Wow is all right? Dad,

(01:40:09):
Thank you man. We appreciate that though much. Absolutely I
want to. I want to drop a little love before
I hit you with this, But we're doing that. Here
we go. He set us up. Now he's gonna kill us.
Go ahead, No, no, no, no. I'm a Cuban American,
so I have no representation in any other sport but baseball, right,
I got you, Okay. So I think the focus is
on the wrong problem. The focus really shouldn't be about, uh,

(01:40:32):
in my humble opinion, on black men getting an opportunity
for coaching positions. Rather, it should be on minority ownership
groups being able to empower minority men to coach other
minority men, because if you have two white men talking
to each other, they know how to interview with one another.
And I think, really, if we can get some more

(01:40:53):
minority ownership, that would thee to resolving this this problem. Well, no,
there's certainly no question about it. Michael Jordan. In Charlotte,
they have a lot of African Americans and just people
of Feller in general in their front office. The owner
of the Jacksonville Jaguars is Muslim, isn't he? Yes? Jackson Yes,

(01:41:14):
And they have Ron Rivera. There's no question. That's a
great point. The challenge, of course, is it takes a
ton of money. Not only that they're not giving up
those teams, those guys, there's only thirty two. It's only
thirty two. And then when they do come open, it's
a hard thing to get in. I mean it's just
if you remember, you remember, even even like TV networks,

(01:41:35):
there's a lot of things that it's very hard to get,
even when you have money. Mark Cuban wanted a baseball team.
He couldn't get one. You know what I'm saying, No,
no question, it ain't as easy. But that's a great point.
There's there's no doubt if there was more minority ownership,
there would be more minority head coaches, people in the
front office. Jeff and Virginia, you're on the odd couple

(01:41:56):
of Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Jeff and Chris? Are
you doing? How are you good? Uh? I just wanted
to get y'all's take on Christopher Shard, the Cowboys code
defensive coordinator. He had a couple of interviews I guess
with the Jets and some other teams. Well, like, he's
a prim head coach candidate, and I feel like the
Cowboys should look at him if Garrett, uh, well, do

(01:42:18):
you know he ain't keep Garret just one to just
won the division for the second time and the playoff game,
which is rarity. But but but the only thing that
was Shart isn't He's a defensive guy in a new trend.
Is not those guys. I'll take a defensive guy that's
firing can get a defense. It was terrible two years ago, right,

(01:42:39):
play like they're playing now. I agree with and and
and Jeff. Look at the playoffs. Is not the offense
that's winning, it's the defense, because usually it does come
down to these points are a lot, the score is
a lot lower. One more thing, Rob stopped being a
cowboy hater and tell Skip to calm down about the cowboys.
I'm a cowboy fan. But he takes it too far. Man.
I know somebody's got to j Jeff, somebody's got to

(01:43:01):
counter him. He's all in. But you were chaining. You
were chain of beating. Come on, all right, Jeff, appreciate.
Let's go to Kenny in Baltimore. Kenny, you're one with
Chris and Robb. Hey, guys, how y'all doing to night?
We're doing great. Look, man, I want to speak on
this issue. Man, I'm fifty nine years old Black Americans.

(01:43:22):
It's appalling, man that you only have now two black
coaches in the NFL. Yeah, but you know, I think
also when you look at college football where they're getting
some of these young coaches from we know the records
are even more appalling dead where only got four or
five black coaches and Division one football, I think it's now.
I think it's up to thirteen, which is the better.

(01:43:44):
But still that's right and something. And you know what,
and even I bet you I would say eight of
those on lower Division one, you know, like our major program. Yeah, no,
it's you're right, You're right. I mean, there's no doubt.
It's a it's a travesty. And again go ahead. Yeah,

(01:44:08):
I just wanted to make the other point. I think
it's star as the NFL is concerned. What's gonna have
to happen, Man, just like years ago with Jim Brown
and Ali and them, You're gonna have to have this
the top star players in the NFL that don't necessarily
have to worry about getting cut, that got leveraged because
they start players, got guaranteed money. You're gonna have to
have them come together and have press conferences and summits

(01:44:31):
to really begin to push this to the forefront where
the media is dealing with this, and you're having to
star players address it. If not, Hey, I hear what
you're saying, but good luck the divided conqueror. I wish
they would. It wouldn't happen, and I wish they would. Kenny,
we both are totally in agreement with you. But here's
the thing. The time for that. If they were gonna

(01:44:54):
do it, they could have been done it. You know,
it should have been happened. And they do have great leverage.
They won't even band together and help their own pension
plans and healthcare. They can't even come together and fight
for that. How they gonna fight for some guy's job
who they who? They don't even care about. It ain't
gonna happen. They need to they I agree with Kenny.

(01:45:15):
They need to come out and make a statement or something.
But then good luck. I'm not if you're waiting for
the Players Association or some other association to come out
with something, it ain't gonna happen. All right. If you
can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen. Our
fs far our teammate David Gascon is jumping in the
hot sea. We're about to burn him up next. But

(01:45:37):
first let's get the deb Carson for the latest in sports.
Deab Hey, guys, well, the big breaking news tonight. The
Jets are hiring former Dolphins coach Adam Gas as their
next head coach. Was twenty three and twenty five and
three seasons with the Dolphins, but Miami was five of
six as they went head to head with the Jets.
That and I guess the Jets wanted someone who could

(01:45:59):
come in, work well with and continue to develop quarterback
Sam Darnold and they believe Adam Gase is that guy.
Also one of the same reasons that Cliff Kingsbury was
hired as the Arizona head coach because of their young
quarterback Josh Rosen. Josh Rosen is incredibly talented, one of
the most talented throwers you'll see a young player obviously

(01:46:19):
that I'm excited to work with and develop As a
pure thrower. It's hard to find a guy that throws
it better. Yeah, it was Cliff Kingsbury. Today, as he
was introduced as the Cardinals new head coach, there was
a revelation by owner Mike Bidwell. He said that during
Kingsbury's introductory press conference that Kingsbury resigned from USA before
interviewing with the Jets and Cardinals for their head coaching

(01:46:42):
gigs also have news of two other coaching vacancies being filled.
The Browns are promoting their offensive coordinator, Freddie Kitchens to
be their next head coach. Broncos new head coach will
be Vic Fangio, the Bears defensive coordinator. Wednesday's Discover Card

back with the odd Couple in ten seconds. But first,
a word from farmers. From a dog accidentally flooding a
living room to a dog taking a joy ride. We've
covered it. Talk to farmers. We know a thing or two.
Because we've seen a thing or two. We are farmers

(01:47:46):
underwritten my Farmers Truck fire Insurance exchanges and affiliates products
unavailable in every state. Rob Chris back to you guys.
Thanks all right. We are the Eye Couple. We're coming
to you live from the Guy Coo, Fox Sports Radio Studios.
It's easy to say fifteen percent or more in your
car insurance with Geico. Go to Geico dot com or
call eight hundred nine four seven Auto. The only hard

(01:48:07):
part is figuring out which way is easier. And I
hope Gascon is ready because it's time for the hot seat.
Damn son. The current temperature beyond couple are making it
hot in here. Damn hot. Time to sit your butt
down in the hot seat. Yes, sir, it is the

(01:48:28):
hot seat on the Yard Couple of Fox Sports Radio
segment where Chris and Rob invite one of their Fox
Sports brethren to defend three of their hottest takes against
the Yard Couples. Today's contestant our Fox Sports Radio teammate
David Gascon. Davis say, what's up to the guys, what
are you doing, Dave, Dave, we love you man, Dude.

(01:48:49):
This personal this is going to be as easy as
one could be, especially with your Dak Prescott hot take.
Are you all right with third degree burns? Do that
work for you? It's all good man, born and raised
in soul the calif think you have vegan diet will
help you heal faster. And you know we're like, we're
not burning real chicken. It's that fake chicken. Okay, Jack

(01:49:09):
fru baby. That's how we do it. All right, gentlemen,
back to your corners. Let's get it started right here.
With topic number one, David Gascon says that the door
for Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers is officially closed. Dave,
you got thirty seconds make your case. Well. The first
things first with the Green Bay Packers, they have no identity.

(01:49:29):
They haven't had an identity since they actually won the
Super Bowl. Ranks thirteenth in offense this year, eighteenth in defense.
You don't know where their points are coming from. In fact,
I mean they ring fourteenth and points per game at
twenty fifth and points against. You look at the body
of work over the last six to seven years. Aaron Rodgers,
for all tensive purposes. Hasn't been on the field for
the majority of the time. So you look at where

(01:49:50):
he's at right now, thirty five years of age. He
turns thirty six next December. Packers have no identity Aaron Rodgers.
He's not on the come, he's not a gun in
the rise and they NFC. He's got to go to
win another Super Bowl. It's not in Green Bay, gas gun.
As I often say to Rob Parker, stop it. Their
identity is Aaron Rodgers. And I'm telling you, when you

(01:50:12):
have a franchise quarterback like that, the door is never
closed until he's old and ready to retire. Exhibit A,
Drew Brees seven to nine for three straight years. We
thought the door was closed, which it's Drew Brees there,
so it's never closed. Exhibit B. Philip Rivers. They didn't
make the playoffs or what like eight years in the

(01:50:33):
last nine or something like that, but you got Philip Rivers.
You're straighten it out around the doors not closed. Chris.
I think that's cute because you brought up some certain
teams and certain players, but you're not looking at what
they have around them. They have a supporting cast. Green
Bay doesn't attract free agents. That's one concern. Number two
is they don't draft well. In fact, when they do

(01:50:54):
draft well, what do they do? They don't retain their talent.
So that's another issue for Packers fans and obviously Aaron Rodgers.
If you're gonna win in your late thirties, like a
Drew Brees has done, like a Philip Rivers has done,
you need to have a complimentary pieces. Aaron Rodgers doesn't
have that. The division is not Green Bays, the Chicago
for Minnesota gascon. What do you come on, Dave, what

(01:51:15):
are you talking about? They don't They pulled in one
of the biggest free ages ever. Is his name was
Reggie White. Do you remember they want a Super Bowl
with him? You're telling me that that Aaron Rodgers can't
be the division with the Lions, Bears and Vikings. Oh yeah,
the Bears are so good they couldn't win a playoff
game at home with the with the best defense in
the league. And Aaron Rodgers sat for four years, so

(01:51:38):
he's not really thirty four. He's twenty nine in NFL years.
He's not old. He is that twenty He's there, Rob,
you smelled at that that's Gascon's breaches thirday, that's what
that is. When Reggie White was in green When Reggie
White was in Green Bay, Parker was thirty years old, stopping.

(01:51:59):
Come on, Robbie got tested. Now it was close, and
so rob said that he was thirty four. You take
away four and he's twenty nine. By default. Round one
goes to Gascon. All right, No one's poetic license, no way.
That was for emphasis what Gascon won that round? Round

(01:52:21):
number two, David Gascon says that Freddie Kitchens, Baker Mayfield
and the Cleveland Browns are gonna be the only team
that can challenge the Colts and the Chiefs for AFC
supremacy in the future. Gas I got thirty seconds. Tell
us why. Yeah, we looked at the last twelve to
fifteen years. What do we got? We got Manning and

(01:52:41):
Brady going back and forth with an outlayer of Ben Roethlisberger.
That's exactly what we're gonna have now with Andrew luck
Patrick Mahomes in Sirt, Baker Mayfield and what has he
done in Cleveland. Yeah, he's a little cocky, might be
a little bit arrogant, but he got onto the field
and they won football games with Freddy Kitchens as his coach,
Kip in mind our offensive there five and three record

(01:53:01):
as his guy. His numbers went up as soon as
Hugh Jackson was out, and he competed in a tough
AFC North Division. So keeping mind bills, not a lot
of play time gets stopping David gascon with a tough
NFC North, they got nothing but bump teams there. He
didn't beat anybody with a winning record except for Baltimore
early in the season, yesterd he put up a lot

(01:53:23):
of numbers against a bad Cincinnati team that gave up
five hundred yards three straight weeks in the row, got
their defensive coordinative fired. Then you're kidding yourself. No coach
even wanted to go to Cleveland with Baker Mayfield. So
stop at Cleveland is going nowhere until they start beating
good teams. Quarterback quarterback rating in the resin of one

(01:53:45):
sixteen point five when Kitchens was there, nineteen touchdowns, eight imts.
And it's not just Baker Mayfield either. He's got Town
to run him around him. He's got a complimentary running
back and Nick Chubb. He's also got weapons on the outside.
David and Joe to Jarvis Landry, Antonio Kallaway. Oh and
by the way, he's gonna pret decent defense they can

(01:54:05):
get after the quarterback. Pittsburgh's as Baltimore is a mass
of course, since today you don't know what you're to
get from them. That's the division that Cleveland can take,
and obviously the don't leave them the AFC. Look, I'm
actually with you on the Browns. I think they are
gonna be a good team going forward. But I'm not
ready to write off Pittsburgh because they still got a
lot of time and that's just a great football program.

(01:54:26):
For all of their issues, I think they can get
them straightened out. And I'm certainly not ready to write
off Houston with Deshaun Watson. And then beyond that, this
is the NFL gas. I mean, Jacksonville almost got to
the super Bowl last year out of nowhere. That happens
all of the time in the NFL. Teams come out
of nowhere from worse to first, so you can't rule

(01:54:48):
out everybody else. Last round, Rob Parker let his team
down and he totally redeemed himself. Round two goes to
the old the first it's the couple of Fox Boards
Radio The hot Seat with David Gascon. Last, but not least,
this topic is kind of interesting because David Gascon, talking

(01:55:11):
to two guys who are living in LA says that
Mexican food is in California is better than the Italian
food you get in Chicago and New York. Two guys
who spent a lot of time in New York, Chris
and Rob Dave, you got thirty seconds. Make your case,
all right, you absolute homers. Here's the deal here. You
know about real estate, right, location, location, location. Here in

(01:55:31):
southern California, you can find Mexican food all over the place,
at all times of the day. That's the best part
about it. A Talian food in Chicago, New York. Not
so much all about availability, and you get that with
Mexican food breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Poning me up. I
don't need thirty seconds for this one, you guys can
sit back. Oh No, First of all, there's plenty of

(01:55:53):
Italian food to be found in New York. Okay, I
haven't tried the Mexican food out here in LA yet,
but that's how just something. It's not that good. I
want the Italian food in New York you can't beat it.
There's a pizza shop, real pizza on every corner. No
way you can beat that. Let me tell you something
about this, Chris. Since you don't eat Mexican food out here,

(01:56:14):
I can actually have it for breakfast, breakfast burritos, I
can have Carnya soda burritos, I can have tacos. I
can carry that over to lunch. I cannot definitely carry
it over to dinner. And then most and poorly. Since
you live in something California, you know you can have
it for drunk food. You cannot eat Italian food for
drunk food or too. Is that pizzas not Italian? Well

(01:56:36):
that's one thing, that's one item. What a d You
got a limited profile? My friends? Are you eat not Mexican?
You gotta stop eating Mexican food, vegan And just because
you would like to use the dollar menu from Taco
Bell doesn't mean you eat in California Mexican food. So
you need to get off of that. And you know
what we're saying. You go to little Italy in New

(01:56:57):
York and then tell you forget about there's nothing but
good food, pastas and spaghetti and meat Paul's and all
of the good stuff in New York restaurants everywhere, and
Christ is right. The pizza is second to none. That's
Italian food. You're drunk. I want to slice a right, No,

(01:57:19):
we gave you lisagna, meat balls, spaghetti pasta feduccini. Last round, gentlemen,
I've been to New York, have been here in LA
of eating Italian New York eat Mexican in LA. I
gotta tell you something when I went to the Italian
restaurant in New York and look the cook was Mexican.
Score that one for David Gas and he didn't disclosure.

(01:57:43):
What's your ethnicity? Rob? You mean all right? Thank you?
This is this was fixed. This was like some of
those NFL coaching hires. We didn't stand a chance, you
know what. The two black eyes came in and we
didn't get the job. Thanks mister. I's got a great job.

on the podcast Power Rankings. But this week Rob We

(02:00:19):
always do the podcast Power Rankings on Wednesday. This is
a list you don't want to be on. Trust me.
It's the biggest fallers of the week. It's usually big ballers,
but this is big fallers, right, and we're dealing with international.
That doesn't include Canada at number three. Greece they fell

(02:00:39):
from number twenty to twenty three. They slid to TI
number twenty. At number two, Israel falls from number seven
to number ten. That's not Kosha, that's a good one.
At number one. Japan. Japan fell from twelve to sixteen.
We gotta pick it up in those country on the outcome,

(02:01:01):
no doubt about it. How about states, Chris, I know
Mike McCarthy's no longer coach, but Wisconsin fell from twenty
two to twenty five. Sounds like the Packers regular season.
Right Maryland they fell from seven to ten. What happened
to the Maryland in that top part of the country,
right the DMVs that what they call it? Yea, yea.
And then Louisiana, your home state, they let you down, Chris,

(02:01:23):
I gotta give me love. They fell five spots from
twenty four to twenty nine. That's because I think they
ran out of spices down there for the chickens, so
they are not in a good move all right. In
the cities Seattle at number three, they fell from number
eight to number eleven because they thought the SuperSonics were
coming back. Okay, that's why, all right? Number two, Denver,

(02:01:47):
they fell five slots from sixteen to twenty one. Wow.
And New Orleans number one fell seven slots from number
thirty five to forty two. What's up with Louisiana? You
guys gotta pick these things state. My parents went to
Xavier in New Orleans. Y'all we we gotta pick it
up New Orleans and all of Louisiana. Well, it was

(02:02:08):
a good show today, got into a lot so fell NBA.
And tomorrow you actually gonna take on Tom Brady? Yes,
you really want to do that? I was on the hurt.
You think about that tonight and pray about that tonight.
Should I pray? You really want to go there? Yeah,
because if you do, it's gonna be ugly. It won't
be ugly because I'm helping he a win this week.

(02:02:29):
I'm trying to help them and that they need to
move forward. Sometimes you know, like you, they're gonna put
their quarterback. I don't know anybody but Tom him, that's anybody.
He needs a chance. Tom Brady was was a six
round draft choice. Nobody need made better. It was an
out of shape six round draft choice. And look what
happened to Tom. He wasn't out of shape. He was

(02:02:49):
just big bones. You see that dad body walking around
with Hey, I don't care anymore. He can throw the
football that He looked like that when he was throwing
the football. There's three Super Bowls he can't even throw
the ball out of bounds. Now, that's win this weekend.
This is gonna be the big one here and watch.
Everybody will make an excuse, Well, what do you respect?
You'm Rady forty one, What do you respect? Lebron James

(02:03:13):
doesn't have any help. He had a better season than
Aaron Rodgers. We're not talking about Aaron Rodgers. That's a
that's a that's just as he had a better season.
