(03:05):
and Elijah Sepbouna.
Speaker 3 (03:08):
All right, yeahj let's get right to it.
Speaker 1 (03:11):
This has now become forget news of the day, news
of the week. It happened a week or so ago
and we are still talking about it.
Speaker 3 (03:21):
Sean Payton, of course, went off.
Speaker 1 (03:24):
On that Hackett, Nathaniel Hackett, the offensive coordinator for the
New York Jets, who was the head coach briefly before
he was mercy mercifully really let go last year after.
Speaker 3 (03:39):
I think four to fifteen games.
Speaker 6 (03:41):
Yeah yeah, but now he's, as I said, the OC
of the New York Jets, who played Denver in Week five,
and Sean Payton said it was one of the worst
coaching jobs.
Speaker 3 (03:54):
In the history of the league.
Speaker 1 (03:56):
Aaron Rodgers pushed back, called Peyton and secure and now
Nathaniel hacke it has spoken about it. Yesterday he addressed
the media. Here's what he said.
Speaker 7 (04:07):
I've been involved in this business my whole life, and
as a coach, you know, as a coach's kid.
Speaker 3 (04:12):
You know, we live in a glasshouse. We know that
we all live in different rooms, we all got a
key for it. And it's one of those things that
there's a.
Speaker 2 (04:19):
Code, there's a way things are done.
Speaker 6 (04:21):
It's frustrating and it sucks, but we're all susceptible to it.
Speaker 3 (04:25):
They're things that you do.
Speaker 5 (04:26):
Mistakes you make, and it costs you time on the field,
cost you your job, all those things.
Speaker 3 (04:31):
And I own all that stuff.
Speaker 2 (04:32):
It's unfortunate that had to happen, that the comments that
were made, but hey, they did.
Speaker 3 (04:38):
I'll say this, Vie.
Speaker 1 (04:39):
I don't know if you watched the whole press conference, Nathan,
you'll hack it really came off.
Speaker 3 (04:45):
As likable to me.
Speaker 1 (04:46):
Yeah, you know, last year obviously all you saw was
him ducking bullets, and rightly so it was bad.
Speaker 3 (04:54):
But this year he came off well, this has worked
out for him.
Speaker 1 (04:57):
He's become kind of a sympathetic figure, at least for now.
We'll see how this season goes. But overall, give me
your thoughts, as we haven't heard from you on what
Sean Payton. I mean, we know what he said, but
do you think he broke the code? You're hearing a
lot about that he broke the coaches cold criticizing another
(05:21):
coach and all of that.
Speaker 3 (05:22):
What are your thoughts on that? And Hackett's response.
Speaker 5 (05:25):
I'll tell you this, Chris, he broke more than the
coaches cold. There's one thing about me, Chris, that'll get
me to not like a guy real fast, and that's
guys that break guy code. There's unwritten Yeah, there's unwritten
guy code. Yeah, there's unwritten guy codes in life among men.
You know, you know, rightfully, you know, right minded men
that you follow. People can try to act like it's
(05:48):
not there. No, there's guy code out there, and one
of them is all our fathers always told us. He'll
speak on another man's business, he'll speak on another man's pockets.
Those are just some Those are just some things, man.
That's part of the guy code, and the coach code
falls underneath that. He went and spoke out on another
man's business and spoke out on what was prior to
(06:09):
him coming in there. A lot of people try to
say it was to try to cover for Russell Wilson.
I don't know why you want to do that. He's
done and it'll show again this year. Last year was
not a fluke. That kid, don't know why I want
to do that yeah, yeah, Yeah, it's called his quarterback.
What about that, well, it could be his call. He's
defending it. Was he supposed to come out and say
Russ was horrible.
Speaker 3 (06:28):
He's want to work. I don't say nothing. He don't
say nothing.
Speaker 5 (06:31):
Just worry about what you're doing now while you're speaking
on while you're speaking on what this is. This is
what I'm saying, Chris, Why you speaking on last year
and when you got this position? For instance, when you
when you were giving the show here right, you didn't
worry about who was in this time slot before you.
Speaker 3 (06:44):
You didn't worry about what they did before you.
Speaker 5 (06:45):
You worried about Chris Brussar to Rob Park and y'all couple,
what we're going to do now.
Speaker 3 (06:50):
That's how I am. What am I going to do now?
Speaker 5 (06:52):
I'm not worried about who was sitting in this chair
yesterday or when we were on Saturdays, who was sitting
here last year before we got our show.
Speaker 3 (06:58):
I'm worried about now. I ain't speaking on that in
the past.
Speaker 5 (07:01):
That was a mistake of his and it was shown
that he had to come out and apologize for it.
He had to come out and have a press conference
to say I still have a fox hat on and y'all,
y'all y' and all this other stuff.
Speaker 3 (07:10):
No, I didn't.
Speaker 5 (07:11):
I didn't like it one bit, and I tore it
down from the beginning. Now on Hacket side, he was
always likable to me.
Speaker 3 (07:16):
Chris.
Speaker 5 (07:16):
I was defending him last year. I know, because I
know Russell Wilson's done. That's how I was defending him
last year. So it was it was all Russell Wilson
on the day. It wasn't all Russell Wilson. But we
know in football, the quarterback gets the glory. The quarterback
gets to blame, and yeah that comes second though, but.
Speaker 3 (07:33):
Nobody trying to blame.
Speaker 1 (07:35):
But he made unprecedented, unprecedented mistake.
Speaker 3 (07:39):
Sim head coach is gonna make some mistakes, and we
get that ripped.
Speaker 1 (07:42):
But over and over, have you ever seen one make
mistakes like that?
Speaker 3 (07:45):
Yeh, Stanley Stanley for the Chargers, he made some mistakes.
Don't keep going for it on.
Speaker 1 (07:52):
But now, I mean, he made unprecedented mistake. That's that's
what Sean Peyton was doing. And I'm not he went
a little far, but he was defending his quarterback and
he went overboard. But it was the right thing to
do is defend your quarterback. Now, again, he didn't have
the drill Nate Hacket. What he said wasn't. I mean,
(08:16):
my thing is this people. The code is fine, but
people are acting like he committed some egregious crime and
let's stop it. He didn't create it, commit any egregious crime. Again,
we're overboard. But everything he said was accurate, and he
(08:37):
did make a mistake by putting a target on his
team's back because now nobody was really expecting much from
the Broncos. He also said in that interview that he
would be so ticked off if they don't make the playoffs.
Speaker 3 (08:50):
You know, now all of a sudden.
Speaker 1 (08:51):
People are like, Okay, they're expecting some stuff. They're looking
at the Broncos now, not just that Week five game,
but overall this season. And he put everything on Hacket
and what went on last year in the building. So
if it doesn't go well, people are gonna look at
Sean Payton. I would say this though the Jets and
(09:12):
Hackett was likable to me in this press conference, But
the Jets, particularly Aaron Rodgers, who I actually think is
gonna have a good year, they need to, you know,
stop with the self righteous act. Cause you're talking about
codes VJ. How many times has Aaron Rodgers broken the code?
(09:33):
How many times has he passed the buck on his teammates?
How many times does he you know, put it all
on them, you know, rather than taking some of the
blame himself like a lot of quarterbacks do.
Speaker 3 (09:49):
I mean last year it happened when.
Speaker 1 (09:51):
He said that, you know a lot of guys making
a lot of mental mistakes and they shouldn't be playing
as much well.
Speaker 3 (09:58):
His own former team, hey, who won a Super Bowl
with him.
Speaker 1 (10:01):
Greg Jenny's here at Fox Sports criticized him for that.
So my thing is, Okay, y'all can call out Sean
for what he said and it'll be settled on the field.
But the self righteousness coming out of the Jets, they y'all,
y'all can chill out with that because y'all broke in
(10:23):
some codes to particularly Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 5 (10:25):
Well, I got my I got my opinion about the
Jets too, and we'll get in that little later in
the show with Aaron Rodgers. But back to Peyton and Hackett.
I defended Hackett for whatever reason. My reasons are my reasons.
But he was likable to me to begin with last year.
I don't like firing the coach after one year, but
they decided to do it. But listen, think about it.
Hackett was okay until the fourth down decision on opening
(10:46):
Sunday night.
Speaker 3 (10:47):
I believe it was of a Monday night game. I'm
not sure which game it was.
Speaker 8 (10:50):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (10:51):
Yeah, he went for the sixty four yard field goal,
and I came on radio and said, hey, listen, if
he thought his quarterback had it in on the pick
it up, he didn't let his quarterback try to?
Speaker 1 (11:03):
Well, I do he even admitted did he admit it
was a mistake.
Speaker 3 (11:07):
Of course he had the backtracking. He was getting killed.
He was getting killed. Now he he was, he was
getting killed. Back up, he was getting killed. Ball you guys,
murder didn't kill. Okay, So that's why he was a
bad move. He admit it.
Speaker 5 (11:20):
And just like Sean Payton did. Sean Payne was getting
killed for this, and what did he do. He went
back and apologized. So it's the same thing, Chris.
Speaker 1 (11:27):
But it's the same thing talking about a strategic move
that you defended.
Speaker 3 (11:31):
Yeah, and he admitted it was wrong. Yeah, I saw
that because he said it was wrong.
Speaker 5 (11:37):
Because well, doesn't he's saying this wrong after the fact
that shig side twenty twenty they make the field go
nobody's talking about it. We're not worried about it. It's
the fact that he misses the field goals the reason
why we wanted to pick it apart.
Speaker 1 (11:46):
But to say that about anything, man, any play, you
can say that about Okay, well, then all right, that
that made a sixty four yards and ball travels well
in Mileht Stadium.
Speaker 3 (11:58):
We've seen it.
Speaker 5 (11:59):
We've seen it, We've seen a bad move. I'm Hackett
was always likable to me. I like the fact that
he responded, like I said, I'll dig a little more
to how even Aaron Rodgers kind of responded his whole
demeanor and personality with the New York Jets right now.
But I like the fact that Hackett and uh and
backed it up and came out and responded to it.
You're right, week four, we get the game. The players
(12:21):
a week five and excuse me, players are on the field.
There's no excuse. Coaches can't do nothing but coach. The
players are the ones that's gonna make the look. The
players are the one that's gonna make things happen. Well,
coaches got something to do with it, for sure, I
said they coach, coach, no coach, but what But when
that ball kicks off, it's man on man, it's body
on body.
Speaker 4 (12:40):
Man.
Speaker 1 (12:40):
But don't don't think the coaches don't have anything to
do with that. I know they play a huge part.
But I'm with you on that. Like at the end
of the day, put on your big boy paints. Oh
he hurt my feelings. Okay, let's sell it on the
field and we will in week five. All right, it
is the odd couple starting off hot. Chris Bruce Vernon
(13:00):

So we'll do it. Go to the call line right now,
to the Bluegrass State. Let's start there with Marty. Marty,
(14:16):
you'll at right now.
Speaker 5 (14:16):
Fox Sports Radio on the out, a couple Chris Boussar
VJ running Husky the Big Vanilla, filling in for Rob Parker.
Speaker 3 (14:22):
Talk to us, buddy about Hackett.
Speaker 5 (14:23):
What was your thoughts in his comeback to Sean Payton
and Sean Payton shooting off.
Speaker 9 (14:28):
Well, the first thing I'll do is I'll point out
the situation Chris went through himself, and I'd like to
hear back from him when I'm finished. But it was
just a few years back that an elite star in
the NBA had a little bit of review his career
accusing Chris blind And I know Chris is an honest
(14:49):
man and I trusted him. But Chris would not reveal
his sources. And Chris would not break the code that
you don't break because an honorable man. So I'm gonna
use Chris is.
Speaker 7 (15:03):
Don't sit you Chris today?
Speaker 9 (15:07):
Now, am I wrong?
Speaker 3 (15:09):
Chris?
Speaker 7 (15:09):
Did you not stay within the durant?
Speaker 3 (15:12):
It was well, go ahead.
Speaker 9 (15:15):
Yeah, and you stayed was in the code. And I
think that Sean Payton broke code. And he's no one
to be puting the finger because he had bounty Gate
and I don't remember the craw and to mentioned fingers
the biggest problem but in in with the bit, I'm sorry,
the biggest problem in Denver last year. I'm not gonna
(15:37):
say the coach was great, but Russell Wilson fell offt
because that mallet finger he got. He got two pins
in that finger. That is not a common injury for
a quarterback, especially in their throwing hand. A lot of
offenses and linemen and get that and they'll tell you
your numb from that point up. And he got two
pins in that finger, the middle finger, the last finger
that touches the ball when you release it. His control
(15:58):
has been affected, and if he ever reaped from it,
I'll be surprised. I was a huge fan of he is.
I thought he was great. I thought he was just
a big a part of the Seahawks says as the
lead in the boom. But he's not who he used
to be, and recovering from that maunt of finger surgery
might be more than any quarterback can overcome.
Speaker 1 (16:18):
Yeah, I look my situation with Kevin Durant. To me,
that's completely different. That was sources revealed, sources or something
like that.
Speaker 3 (16:27):
That's different than I'm not saying what Peyton did was great.
Speaker 1 (16:30):
I'm just saying I think he was defending his quarterback
and he went too far.
Speaker 3 (16:35):
And then I've said, so they can push back.
Speaker 1 (16:37):
I got no problem with Nate Hackett and even Rogers
pushing back. But I gotta let Rogers know he's broken
some codes himself.
Speaker 3 (16:43):
That's all I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (16:44):
Jared still, and I'm actually looking for good things from
Rogers this year.
Speaker 5 (16:51):
We'll get into that in a little while. Jared Stenham
will be starting by week eleven. Russell Wilson will be benched.
Just marked that, Yeah, mark that down, all right. So
we'll move on to MJ. And not New Orleans. They
call it knowledge. They say knowledge down there, m J.
New Orleans man, you're live right now to y'all. A
couple of Christmas are v J. Vernerhuskeet big vanilla funny.
Talk to us about Hackett man foul affair. You like
(17:12):
the way he defends himself, Sean Payton, what you got
for his brother?
Speaker 10 (17:16):
We got two other laws. I mean, uh, Louisiana guys
up in the house to night today, right, I'm.
Speaker 3 (17:23):
From Louisiana, but nah VJ. I' from the DNV baby.
Speaker 10 (17:29):
Right right, okay, all right, but I.
Speaker 3 (17:31):
Love but I love. No V was creole or something looking,
I can pass for it.
Speaker 10 (17:39):
Chris, I know you're from Baton Ruins, but yeah, I
thought he was. But look, you keep it showing twimpled.
Speaker 8 (17:44):
Let's keep it a sousand.
Speaker 10 (17:45):
You're saying you buddy Hacket, as I called it, was
hired to try to lure a Aaron away from the
Green Bay leaf pack. John also pointed out that broncos M.
George Patton and those and even higher the team executive
office with the same brush on the subject of being
in twenty twenty two season and af Jack disaster, which
(18:07):
is Fox handlers have on all. It was exactly what
fourshows like this needed going to baseball months. And I
also remember Buddy Ryan and seven gilbar come on man
all right.
Speaker 3 (18:20):
MJ from Knowledge.
Speaker 5 (18:23):
Yeah, and we got one more man, Kevin from uh Michigan,
which we both christ and I Fromil's Beautiful Daughters went
to Michigan. I'm a big lifelong Michigan will Ring football fan.
You're lot right now in the yard. A couple of
Fox Sports Radio VJ Vernon Husky, Chris Brussar and Nathaniel Hackett.
Speaker 3 (18:38):
Sean Payon go.
Speaker 11 (18:41):
Of course, of course he broke the cold. I mean,
Sean Payton is the most arrogant and as cocky as
they come. This guy's done nothing but won one Super
Bowls in twenty ten. He always thinks he's the smartest
guy in the room. What's it to you? What's it
to you with this guy done in the past. You're
the current coach. Why even why why just even have
that man's name in his mouth at all? You're the
(19:02):
current coach. You're doing your job. Just the fact that
he's mentioning another guy who didn't do a good job,
that's whacked ay, that's super corny. He broke the cold.
Speaker 10 (19:11):
Man.
Speaker 11 (19:11):
He didn't have to mention this guy's name at all.
This guy he won Super Bowls in Super I don't
think he.
Speaker 3 (19:16):
Did mention his name, did he. I don't think you
mentioned his name, his name, his name. It was one
of the worst coaching jobs.
Speaker 1 (19:23):
I mean, he was talking about him clearly, but I'm
just thinking specifically. I don't know if he said his name.
Speaker 11 (19:28):
Man, he broke the cold to the full He broke
the cold to the fullest.
Speaker 8 (19:31):
And he's super overrated.
Speaker 11 (19:33):
This guy thinks he's so smart and if you better believe,
if they lose games, he's gonna blame Russell Wilson. I
know Russell Wilson name at his best right now. He
ain't been as great as he used to be. But
he's gonna blame Russell wiss Wilson just as much as
he's taking up for him. Let him start losing games,
he's gonna blame.
Speaker 3 (19:48):
He probably will. But look, he put man unwinningly.
Speaker 1 (19:53):
I think he put the focus now on the Denver
Broncos because I don't think. I mean, there were a
few people we expected something from them, but for the
most part they were off the radar. People thought they'd
be better. He said we should make the playoffs, and
I already got and then well Handler they let go.
Speaker 3 (20:11):
But they got Tim Patrick out for the year.
Speaker 1 (20:13):
So when he's supposed to be the quarterback whisper, so
we're gonna see what he can do with Wilson.
Speaker 11 (20:19):
Chris, why even speak on another man's name though you're
the current he.
Speaker 3 (20:22):
Didn't say his name. I don't believe speaking the job before. Look,
look it's fine, I get it. He went a little
too far, but y'all, I mean, come on, man, he
broke the code.
Speaker 5 (20:34):
That's necessarily that's a serious offense, breaking the coachers.
Speaker 3 (20:37):
And if I could really quick to Kevin as far
we got people on all types of.
Speaker 1 (20:42):
Kevin President of the United States breaking as far as
Kevin was saying about Champagne, I agree with you. Super
Bowl in twenty nineteen, and if you remember that game,
Porter with the pick six, peyton maned driving in that game,
and I think the whole world Phils peyton Man is
gonna go score. Don't read the right route, throws the
pick six final they win the Super Bowl. But Sean
Payne also has in there three seven to nine straight
(21:03):
seasons with a Hall of Fame quarterback and Bounty Gay,
and I agree with him on hundred percent.
Speaker 3 (21:08):
This guy does have this arrogant feel about him.
Speaker 5 (21:10):
He was sitting on Collins couch last year and we
all thought the Chargers job was there for him. He
thought the Chargers' job was there for him because everybody
thought Stanley was gonna get fired. And when it didn't
happen for him, the Denver move, Chris felt like the desperation. Okay,
I want to get back to coach and I'll take this.
Let's also remember he wasn't Denver's first choice. They wanted
Demico Ryans first. He wasn't even their first choice and
(21:32):
they didn't even fit nothing on his list. He said
he was looking for right year round weather, golf, year
round young quarterback to Molde that none of that's in Denver.
So it felt like this This situation started off like, Okay.
Speaker 3 (21:45):
I'll take this job, and then now Denver.
Speaker 1 (21:48):
If he fails in den he gonna get nailed. Yeah,
there's no doubt, especially after these comments, there's no doubt
about that. All right, Eddie Houses around the corner.
Speaker 2 (21:56):
But first, Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk

Our man, Eddie House, Eddie, what's up man?
Speaker 8 (22:27):
What's happening? What's going down?
Speaker 7 (22:29):
Guys?
Speaker 1 (22:30):
We are good and look, we know you love baseball,
so let's start there. Do you think the Los Angeles
Angels did the right thing by keeping show Hey o'tani
well instead of trading Yeah.
Speaker 7 (22:43):
I think for this reason, you have a chance to
make the playoffs.
Speaker 8 (22:47):
It looks like you get it. You have a chance
to get there.
Speaker 7 (22:50):
It would be looking like you're giving up on everything.
You got one of the best players ever, if not
the best player ever. And when you when you look,
kid is like, okay, So we have a chance to
make playoffs. We haven't done it in a while. We
have the best player. We can maximize our opportunity right now.
He might like it here and if they can sell
(23:12):
that then they.
Speaker 8 (23:12):
Might be able to keep him. But I don't. You
just can't give up on that.
Speaker 7 (23:18):
Otherwise it looks bad to your fans. You just start
looking like an owner that only cares about turning over
a dollars.
Speaker 5 (23:25):
Eddie House, My man, VJ. Vernon Husky here, Great to
be talking to you again. Brother, How you doing?
Speaker 8 (23:30):
What's up? Are you doing nothing?
Speaker 3 (23:31):
Before I ask my question? I got one question for you.
Speaker 5 (23:33):
You still got the fresh three sixty waves because you
had the best waves in like the NBA for like
twenty five years. You still rock the fresh, the fresh
three sixty waves.
Speaker 3 (23:41):
You still got rag.
Speaker 8 (23:43):
Hey they not as deep as.
Speaker 3 (23:44):
They used to be, Okay, okay they still Yeah, there
was they was waving back in the day.
Speaker 5 (23:52):
Everybody wanted to Eddie House waves with the with the
Rod Strickland line up.
Speaker 3 (23:56):
All right, man, let's jump over to NBA.
Speaker 5 (23:58):
We all know about what's going on with the Portland
Troive Blazers in the day, but there's an angle there.
I want to go ahead and ask you about they
can get this move and get some young pieces. What
does this do for a guy like Chauncey Billups, who's
the coach there who we know can play ball, we
know he knows the game of basketball. But if he
could get past this whole name thing, get some young
pieces that he can really nurture and coach and grow
(24:20):
and state himself as a legit NBA head coach, and
it may just your thoughts on just what this could
do for Chauncey once they move past.
Speaker 7 (24:28):
All of this, well, I think it could do. It's
two fard with this. One way you could look at
it is like, yeah, it could show that Chauncey could coach,
he could galvanized guys, he could develop guys, yes, right,
And if they don't have the right guys that don't
get developed because of just whatever they're on, then it's
gonna fall back on Chocey.
Speaker 8 (24:48):
So it's a double edged sword.
Speaker 7 (24:51):
I think you always want, especially as a young coach,
you always want to come to a situation where at
least you have a superstar you can always rely on,
not always young players, because young players gonna bump their head,
they're gonna make mistakes and they're gonna have to eventually
figure it out. But when you have a star out there.
He can also be an extension of you out on
(25:12):
the court, extension of your mindset, your philosophy, the way,
what how you believe, also helping these young guys become
pros because he's already won, you know, as far as
the star players. So it's a double edged sword man
coming in as a young coach, I would think you
would want to have a superstar. You don't want to
start from scratch with a bunch of young players. We've
(25:32):
seen how that story goes all over this league.
Speaker 8 (25:36):
For four years, we all.
Speaker 1 (25:38):
Been waiting for Damian Lillard to be traded, speaking of
the Blazers, and it still seems like he's gonna end
up in Miami sooner or later. If he goes there
and they keep Bam and Jimmy Butler, of course, say
they give up Tyler Hero and some other young players
and picks. How good do you think they will be?
(26:00):
Will they be the favorite in the Eastern Conference?
Speaker 8 (26:04):
A favorite?
Speaker 7 (26:05):
I will say if you look at their talent and
you go just by saying, okay, look at their their roster,
look at their coaching, look at the culture, look at
the front office, look at all everything that the Miami
Heat organization is about you would say, yeah, but then
there's other teams that are really really good in the
East as well. That when you start looking man for
(26:27):
man and the same thing across the board as the
only thing you don't you're not going to get the
experience of a front.
Speaker 8 (26:36):
Office guy or an eric exposure.
Speaker 7 (26:38):
But up and young coming coaches who are putting their team.
Speaker 8 (26:42):
In position to succeed.
Speaker 7 (26:43):
But I would give them the edge to them because
you know they that's a lot of heat over there,
and they all three play in different ways, and to me,
that's when the Big Three works the best is when
they all bring different skills set to the table and
can maximize what each one of each other can.
Speaker 5 (26:59):
Do well, Eddie, let's stay in the Eastern Conference, man,
I want to go to the Boston Celtics because I've
been scratching my head with their offseason moves. Didn't like
the smart for Porzingis trade. You let great Williams go.
He was the only one that had the great fruits
to get in Jimmy Butler's face and go forehead to forehead,
which I love to see from the old days of
being competitive in the NBA. And then Jalen Brown gets
(27:19):
the big deal. I'm not mad at the deal. I
want the brother to get his money. But I'm looking
at Boston and I'm just scratching my head, going, Okay,
you traded the heart and physicality for your team for Porzingis,
and you gave a guy who can't go get you
a bucket late in the playoffs this massive contract. Am
I wrong here? Am I seeing something? Or is there
a little crack or there's little desperation. It looks like
(27:40):
Boston's employing here to try to get that championship.
Speaker 7 (27:44):
No, I think they're looking for two year run. They
got a two year run before all the money starts
coming together. And you look at those contracts and they'll
be virtually impossible to have all of that rocking together.
But for two years they can piece together a team with.
Speaker 8 (27:58):
The great core.
Speaker 7 (28:00):
It's funny that you say that Jalen Brown can't get
a basket late in the in any game or in
a playoff game, when this guy is an All NBA player.
Speaker 8 (28:09):
It's that's hard.
Speaker 7 (28:11):
That's a hard peal to swallow to say that about
somebody who's an All NBA player. He can go get
a bucket. Whenever you want to. It just be.
Speaker 8 (28:19):
Sometimes is your night.
Speaker 7 (28:20):
Sometimes it's not in this Sometimes teams are just better
than y'all, you know, and and that happens. But I
think they'll be fine. I think they're headed in the
great direction.
Speaker 8 (28:30):
They're looking.
Speaker 7 (28:31):
They have youth, So think about how young for Zingison,
He's in his prime, Jalen Brown's in his prime, Jason
Tatum and his Franz.
Speaker 1 (28:42):
They clearly Eddie, they're going offense. Remember, obviously under Email
was more defense. Now under Missoula is clearly more offense.
They'll still be good defensively, but they're going more in
the offensive first direction.
Speaker 3 (28:56):
Do you like that change in philosophy?
Speaker 8 (28:59):
Well, I don't. I don't.
Speaker 7 (29:00):
I don't really believe that that's the case because we
act like for Zingis is not a decent rim protector
at seven feet.
Speaker 8 (29:05):
You know, we're we acting like Rob Williams.
Speaker 7 (29:07):
Is not going to have a full summer to get
healthy and he can protect the Rims. This team is
gonna be a whole lot different from what people think
that they're supposed to be because they do have offensive weapons.
So that's the cat that's in the bag right is
they're going to play a lot better defense than what
people are expecting them to play. I think they're going
to play a different style than what people are expecting.
Speaker 8 (29:28):
Them to play. You look at the higher they have
on the staff.
Speaker 7 (29:30):
With Sam can Sell, he's gonna be able to teach
you know how good Sam was on the post and
absolutely and working and work in the mid range. That's
going to be able to be passed down to these
guys and if they are receptive and willing to accept that,
and also the whole staff understanding that at times you
don't have to try to shoot every three that guys
(29:52):
that have experienced me, excuse me, that have advantages height
wise and athleticism, you know, you can go to the
block and get some ISO. So I think they're gonna
be fine. I think that the Boston Celtics will be fine,
and they'll be one of those teams that are competing
to come out of the East for sure.
Speaker 1 (30:09):
All right, quickly, before you go, we got Terrrist Bud
Crawford coming up in the next hour.
Speaker 3 (30:15):
Man, were you did you see that coming?
Speaker 9 (30:19):
Hey?
Speaker 7 (30:20):
No, I don't think anybody did. I don't think anybody
seen that coming. Bud Crawford Shout out to him. Hey,
by far, by far, the best performance against in a
big fight that I've seen. Dominant finished hand, speed, power, elusiveness, defense, footwork, skill.
(30:42):
Shout out to Bud Crawford, man the champ out there.
He did a fantastic job, went out there, and I
don't even know. It don't matter I don't think where.
It don't matter what way they they go meet at,
and it don't matter what planet or wherever they light at.
Speaker 1 (30:56):
Budd Crawford got them in the backyard wherever.
Speaker 3 (31:00):
I mean, they really spins.
Speaker 1 (31:02):
Need to go beat up a few other people first,
in my book, you know, get his confidence back, because
if they fight again right away, it's gonna be the
same either way.
Speaker 3 (31:13):
You come back in December.
Speaker 7 (31:14):
Hey, don't even wait, just you might as well do
it right away. Go ahead, go ahead, get that ass
whipping over with it.
Speaker 11 (31:20):
That's all.
Speaker 1 (31:22):
I know.
Speaker 7 (31:22):
I got some spind it from school.
Speaker 8 (31:23):
I came home.
Speaker 7 (31:24):
Let me hurry and get it over.
Speaker 1 (31:28):
That is our man, Eddie House, good stuff as always, brother, Thank.
Speaker 3 (31:32):
You, Thanks Eddie, y'all take care of brothers. God bless
all right? Uh is there already already? Another Patrick Mahomes.

Speaker 3 (32:14):
All right, VJ, let's go to college.
Speaker 1 (32:18):
Football, just for a moment, and at the great USC
quarterback Caleb Williams, who is a fantastic I'd be surprised
if you don't think so yourself, Heisman Trophy winner. But
now he is being Some are calling him Patrick Mahomes
two point zero, and you know, look I don't. And
(32:42):
my buddy on first things first, Nick Wright, one of
my co hosts with Nick with Kevin Wilds, he you know,
he loves Mahomes and he's from Kansas City and he's
calling Caleb two point oh Patrick Ohons two point oh,
and I had to remind him. I said, you know that.
I know you don't mean it this way, but two
point oho means better.
Speaker 3 (33:03):
Yep, Michael Jordan.
Speaker 1 (33:06):
Two point zero would be somebody who's like Jordan but better.
And so I had to like chill with that. You
could say, he reminds you. I just think quickly, and
I love like I said, I think he's phenomenal Caleb
Williams and he may end up being special, but I
think right now that's too much to put that's just
(33:26):
adding pressure.
Speaker 3 (33:27):
I like the way he handled it, saying, look, he's
won two Super Bowls.
Speaker 1 (33:31):
I haven't even won a national championship yet, so I'm
just the first Caleb Williams and so, but putting knows
that type of those type of accolades on him is
it's almost like what people are doing with Wym Banyama,
and you know they saying he's the best prospect ever.
It's like, man, well, what's he got to do to
(33:52):
live up to this? And I just think let's let
Caleb do his thing before saying already, because I think VJ.
Patrick mhon the best quarterback ever. Now he's not the goat,
he's gonna have to win a lot more before he
can get in that discussion with Brady. But I test,
I think he's the best quarterback ever, and so to
(34:12):
put Caleb Williams already in that.
Speaker 3 (34:14):
Class is just too much, too soon.
Speaker 5 (34:17):
I agree with you, well to tell you this to
your first point, No, I'm a big fan, so we're
not gonna disagree there. I love the forty five hundred,
forty two touchdowns, five interceptions last year. Very productive, almost
forty points a game for SC. And then plus he's
a DMV boy. He played a Gonzaga came out of WCAC,
which is the second best high school conference in football
other than the Trinity League, which is out here in
(34:37):
southern California. So I'm a big Caleb Williams guy. I
think he has the goods to be a great NFL player.
Now it's gonna depend on where he gets drafted to,
what type of head coach he has, what type of
front office, what type of ownership is their, is it
steady ownership?
Speaker 9 (34:50):
Is it?
Speaker 3 (34:51):
You know?
Speaker 5 (34:51):
Who knows who's gonna end up trying to take for
him this year. So a lot plays into that. But
as far as him being compared to Pat Mahomes, I'm
with you.
Speaker 3 (34:58):
Let the kid.
Speaker 5 (34:59):
Let's let the kid be a college player for right now.
We don't have to try to compare him to any
NFL guy just yet. Let's let him see if he
can win a pack to twelve excuse me championship game
and get to a playoff. And let's see if he
can get to a playoff and win a semifinal game.
And then let's see if he can get to a
national championship game and win that game. There's that's four
games that he would have to go win that he
hadn't done yet before we start calling him Pat Mahomes.
Speaker 3 (35:20):
What happens, Chris is we watch a lot.
Speaker 5 (35:21):
Of highlights and a lot of scrolling on social media
and a lot of a lot of clips, and we watch,
we watch somebody do something and we go, wow, he
looks like such and such. He looks like such and
such as Most of the people are not saying you're
your co host, But a lot of people who say
things like this probably don't even watch, you know.
Speaker 3 (35:38):
Five USC games.
Speaker 5 (35:39):
They just watch the highlights they hear about him, and
he's I don't even think Pat, I don't even think
he's Patrick Mahomes. He's he's a different he's a different
type of guy. He's a different type of quarterback. And
I just like, I want to keep it there with him.
I want to give him that love and that respect.
Let's let Caleb Williams.
Speaker 3 (35:54):
Williams. Yeah, and to your point, look, he's gonna go
to a bad team. Yeah, it's a horrible team. You know,
we know that.
Speaker 1 (36:00):
And if it's the wrong situation, if he doesn't have
the right coach, I mean, I'm not saying his greatness
can't help him overcome some obstacles. Heck, we saw Trevor
Lawrence go into a bad situation and look miserable.
Speaker 3 (36:12):
And I don't mean his countenance, I mean his play
look miserable in that first year.
Speaker 1 (36:18):
And then last year you saw him start to kind
of come into his own and look as great as
Mahomes is. And he's awesome, As I said, I think
he's the best ever. But he went into a good situation,
not only because you know, you can argue did he
have to sit that first year whatever, but just being
with Andy Reid, you know that.
Speaker 3 (36:37):
I mean Andy.
Speaker 1 (36:38):
Reid is a great quarterbacks coach, great coach, overall, especially offensively,
and so that's kind of what you're talking about. Hopefully
Williams can get into something close to that, but being
drafted number one is he's likely to be. It could
be a bad situation, but hey, if you that Burrow,
remember they thought Burrow.
Speaker 3 (36:57):
Shouldn't even go to the Bengals and he turned them around.
Speaker 5 (37:01):
But they also have a good, good head coach off
of a good off of a great head coaching. Trida
and Cincinnati and Mahomes situation is so different because remember
the Chiefs trade up to get him. They move up
to take Pat Mahomes because Pat Mahomes was, you know,
not a lot. He wasn't He wasn't he wasn't a Yeah,
he was a good they were a good team he
(37:22):
got with Andy Reid. There's not not unless a team
trades up to number one, like the Carolina Panthers did.
Remember the Panthers didn't originally have the number one overall
pick that belonged to the Chicago Bears. But the Panthers
didn't go up and get Bryce Young. They have a
top five rushing offense in the league right now, they
have a decent defense, So he's not a bad situation.
Speaker 3 (37:40):
It's okay, he can make it better, all right.
Speaker 1 (37:43):
It is the odd couple of Christian VJ two hour left.
Y'all know what to do.
Speaker 3 (37:47):
Lock it,
