Speaker 1 (00:58):
We got a jam packed, so we got Eddie House
coming up in about ten minutes, and of course he's
a big time friend of the show, NBA champion and sharpshooter,
and then followed by Randy Mueller, former NFL Executive of
the Year, so we're gonna have some fun this hour.
A lot of powerful information and insight for you. Let's
(01:21):
start though with the NBA and Rob G. Look, team
USA not only failed to win the gold medal, not
only failed to win a medal period in the Feeble
World Cup.
Speaker 3 (01:38):
But what was it?
Speaker 1 (01:39):
Were they five and three or was it six and three?
Either way, it's bad for America. But was it five
and three? They lost three games? They lost to Lithuania,
which has two and a half million people.
Speaker 3 (01:55):
Rob, Brooklyn's bigger than that, I mean, thinking about Troe.
No talk about we didn't send our big dogs. We
we didn't send Lebron and them.
Speaker 1 (02:06):
What do we have to Brooklyn is bigger than Lithuania.
Speaker 3 (02:13):
And they beat us? Then Germany, Germany.
Speaker 1 (02:18):
Put it on us, made France and Moe Wagner look
like freaking all stars. And then Canada. That wasn't that
much of a surprise. I mean, Shay Gilgers, Alexander, my goodness, Look,
okayse might be something to tell you. How you letting
(02:41):
Dylan Brooks drop thirty nine and he didn't even beat
up anybody in the game, You know what I mean?
Speaker 4 (02:46):
Think about that.
Speaker 1 (02:48):
Rob G, give us the the you know, tell us
kind of summarize what's going on now now on on
on the heels of all that, on the heels of
us getting thunked in the feeble world, cut up what's
going on now?
Speaker 5 (03:02):
In typical Steve Kerr fashion, his team loses a championship
and he calls up Kevin Durant, Now I'm just playing No.
According to multiple outlets, the Athletic ESPN Pick your Favorite source,
team USA is calling in the big guns now. They're
tired of being embarrassed on the world stage. So a
group of stars studded NBA players including Lebron James, Steph Curry,
(03:25):
Kevin Durant, Anthony Davis, Jason Tatum, and Draymond Green are
all ready to commit for twenty twenty four to play
in Paris. And that's not counting guys like Dame Lillard,
the Aaron Fox, Chris Paul, Kyrie Irving, and Devin Booker,
who said, if the right people are there, count me in.
Speaker 3 (03:44):
Rob What do you think about this?
Speaker 4 (03:48):
Really? Is that what they need to do?
Speaker 6 (03:51):
Like, you're gonna put Lebron out there at forty five,
You're gonna put ad out there so that he could
rupture something.
Speaker 4 (03:59):
I mean, really, is that what you're gonna do?
Speaker 1 (04:00):
I just that's that's a good point. I mean Lebron
and his aide, what what is he doing over there?
He wouldn't play, I mean maybe play a lot, But
you know what I mean, You're right, I.
Speaker 3 (04:10):
Mean Lebron can't be risking injury. I just idea is
always a freaking.
Speaker 4 (04:16):
That's what I'm saying, Chris.
Speaker 6 (04:17):
Like, if I'm the Lakers, I'm like, really, all the
money we put into this and what we're trying to do,
I just it's nice to play for your country, Chris,
that they can't do it without you, Like, really we
need to What we need to get Michael Jordan to
play too, is that we need him back in order
to beat Lithuania and these other countries.
Speaker 4 (04:37):
All excuses all.
Speaker 6 (04:39):
And I saw a JJ Reddick podcast where he made
excuses that every player from the foreign countries you know,
NBA who were in the NBA, they played like they
were Michael Jordan, he played, you know, like they just
this was their hurrah.
Speaker 4 (04:55):
So they.
Speaker 6 (04:57):
Bulked up and played their best game ever to beat
the United States.
Speaker 1 (05:01):
And I'm like that, thank you, Chris. It's the biggest
it's the biggest excuse. Anthony Edwards that this was important
to him.
Speaker 4 (05:09):
Thank you.
Speaker 3 (05:10):
That's what I'm important to.
Speaker 1 (05:11):
Austin Reeves and and and Jaydens.
Speaker 4 (05:15):
You think they want to lose, right, and to use that.
Speaker 6 (05:19):
As like they played great because they were playing in
the United States, and and all those guys and all hogwash,
total excuses Chris to bail those guys out. They lost,
They shouldn't have lost. It's embarrassing. How's that?
Speaker 1 (05:34):
And let me say this now, ROGERI who are the guys?
Give me some of the names again, Lebron, Kevin Durant, Steph.
Speaker 5 (05:40):
Curry, Anthony Davis, Jason Tatum, Draymond Green. According to the Athletic,
all of those guys have already said we're in no
matter what, We're going.
Speaker 4 (05:48):
Ken another one.
Speaker 1 (05:52):
And see, Steph will be old. Steph will be thirty.
I mean he still can play, but you know he'll
be a year older.
Speaker 2 (05:58):
Rob.
Speaker 1 (05:59):
Remember the redeem because for all those now, I wouldn't
pick against that team. I'm pulling for America to win.
I would want to see them go over there and win.
But Rob, for all those talking about, yeah boy, we
gonna show him what's up.
Speaker 3 (06:17):
Remember the Redeemed team.
Speaker 1 (06:19):
Yep, let me throw out a few names. Carlos, Boozer,
Jason Kidd. People might all they okay, whatever, kids obviously great,
but he was a little older. But Boozer, it was
an all star Lebron, Darren Williams who at that point
in time, Rob was a monster. Darren Williams one of
the best point guards in the world today. Oh he was,
(06:39):
he was right two thousand and eight. Michael Redd who
was a great, one of the best shooters in the world.
Dwayne Wade obviously we know what he is, Kobe Bryant,
Dwight Howard.
Speaker 3 (06:51):
Rob twenty two years.
Speaker 6 (06:52):
Old was a beast, monster, Absolutely, Bosh was a beast.
Speaker 1 (06:58):
Chris Paul was twenty Carmelo Anthony twenty four, takes on
Bridge twenty eight.
Speaker 7 (07:04):
Rob.
Speaker 3 (07:05):
You know what the score? They won? The goal they
beat Spain. Guess what the score was.
Speaker 4 (07:14):
I don't remember good.
Speaker 3 (07:16):
One eighteen won eleven. Wow, it was a good game.
Speaker 1 (07:21):
Right, Remember Kobe had to to you know, and now
I wanna say bailis now, but Kobe started was really balling.
Speaker 4 (07:28):
Was it a four point play? Chris? That was it?
If I remember Rob, g.
Speaker 3 (07:31):
Mike, I don't remember all that.
Speaker 5 (07:33):
You remember the d ye the four point play? In
the final two and a half minutes is basically what
sealed the deal, right, because it was a close It
was a close, back and forth game. I think it
even said in the redem Deemed Redeemed Team documentary that
it was a four point game with like three and
a half minutes left, and then Kobe was like, this
is what I'm looking.
Speaker 1 (07:51):
Forward to, Rob Lebron. Kobe weighed Dwight Howard when he
was great. Chris, I mean, Carmelo, like, those are all
Hall of famers and some of them top ten players
of all time, and they had their hands full. So
(08:17):
now they're older and obviously got Duran would have stuff I.
Speaker 3 (08:21):
Would I would like I said, I would pick us,
but it wouldn't be easy and it wouldn't be automatic.
Speaker 4 (08:30):
No, I agree, I don't think there's anything automatic.
Speaker 6 (08:33):
No, And you're talking about older players, Chris, and my goodness,
I just if I'm the owners of some of these teams,
I'm just like, I just Lebron, do you have to go?
Anthony Davis? My goodness, do you have to go? Kevin Durant?
Do you have to go?
Speaker 3 (08:53):
Right? Right?
Speaker 4 (08:56):
I mean, I wouldn't I wouldn't want him to go.
Speaker 3 (08:59):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (09:00):
I mean, do you think that we essentially have to say,
like baseball has right, I.
Speaker 3 (09:07):
Mean, we don't care if we win the World what
do they call it?
Speaker 4 (09:10):
Do they call it the World Baseball Classic?
Speaker 3 (09:12):
Baseball? We don't care. We don't win, but we don't
care if we lose. Do you think we just have
to start treating this that way, because you're.
Speaker 6 (09:19):
Look, Japan won, right, they won the World base the
World Baseball Classic, the WBC. The Japan won, they beat
the United States. Nobody was like, oh my god, they
got great. The Japanese players look good. Chris was a
game down to the wire and they won the game,
(09:40):
and one like the end of the world, like, oh
my god, can we go get some former start Hey,
Barry Bonds, can you still play? You know, like we
need to go do something to get our game back
or whatever. It's not like that, you just gotta play better.
Speaker 3 (09:54):
The other thing is this rob.
Speaker 1 (09:58):
I mean, we've won these gold medals with a bunch
of stars. I'm not even gonna talk about the Dream Team.
I mean that was you know, there was no competition
the Redeem Team and some of the other top teams
in the nineties where we were still trouncing people. And
even even last time last year with Durant, you know,
(10:21):
we won, but that was a tough one. They lost
the game, didn't they rob you? They lost the game
first and then came back and won the goal. But
we send over a bunch of stars, and that doesn't
necessarily mean that's the best team.
Speaker 3 (10:41):
You do need some role players.
Speaker 1 (10:44):
You do need some guys that aren't necessarily looking for
their shot. They can hit a shot, they can score,
but they're thinking defense first. Even the redeem team, Kobe
up until the end of that gold medal game was like, man,
I'm just DM up, I'm locking cats down.
Speaker 3 (11:03):
He took on that role, and you that's what you're
going to need.
Speaker 1 (11:08):
It might the best team might not be twelve all
NBA players.
Speaker 3 (11:15):
It might be need you might need a couple.
Speaker 1 (11:18):
Of role players in there. And what you're definitely gonna
need is some size. Because we saw in this tournament
we were getting out rebounded, we were getting destroyed on
the glass, and we were getting posted up. I mean,
they treated Austin Reeves like a child. They hunted him
(11:38):
and brought him down to the block and served him.
He said, I'm him, Yeah, They was like, that's him,
that's him, post him up, that's him.
Speaker 3 (11:48):
I mean, really, who do we have that could go
expose somebody down to the block. I mean, first of all,
do we have somebody to do that? Secondly, do we have.
Speaker 1 (11:58):
Somebody that wants to do that? Because I said it, Rob,
and I'll say it again, it's not.
Speaker 3 (12:03):
That difficult to develop a post game.
Speaker 1 (12:05):
Are you big post game. I'm not saying don't shoot
the three. I'm not saying don't work on your handle.
I'm talking about you big boys. So I'm not saying
don't work on the mid range, but also work on
the post game. Drop step with the right hand, you know,
drop steps, jump hook with each hand, turn.
Speaker 3 (12:24):
Around jumper, some drop step move. Like, it's not that difficult.
It really isn't. I'm sorry.
Speaker 6 (12:31):
Well, they're hoping, Chris, that m B picks the United
States over France. I guess right that.
Speaker 4 (12:38):
Yeah, they're hoping that he has dual. Right, yeah he
just did.
Speaker 1 (12:42):
He just got his American Yeah, you're right, they are
hoping for that. And that's another one, Rob. If you're
the Sixers, you don't want Joe lmbat over there playing
in the in the summer in the Olympics. He's never
healthy for the playoffs as it is, you really think
(13:03):
I wanted playing in the Olympics. And now rob Remember
the NBA just today it was came out that they
are strengthening the rules against oh low management.
Speaker 4 (13:17):
How how how hard are what are these new rules
that are so tough?
Speaker 3 (13:21):
Rob G?
Speaker 6 (13:21):
You got I was in class, so I did not
see the new rules or Chris or Rob G you'd
have it.
Speaker 5 (13:27):
Yeah, I mean they're trying, but they're also baked in
some excuses that says. You know, for example, if a
guy is thirty five years old or older on opening night,
or he has thirty four thousand plus racies minutes, then
he can get like an exemption for sitting out. So
they do have ways you can work around it, but they're.
Speaker 1 (13:46):
Gonna have harsher punishments for the games on national TV.
Speaker 3 (13:50):
See the n season tournament.
Speaker 1 (13:52):
Uh, how about you know, multiple all stars sitting out together?
Speaker 6 (13:56):
How about how how about somebody gets hurt in that
m game tournament?
Speaker 4 (14:01):
Well, how will that go over? Let me see what
we were trying.
Speaker 6 (14:04):
I was trying to win the end season tournament, and
now I'm out for the postseason.
Speaker 1 (14:10):
I think there will be a day in time ride
when that in season tournament means something. It's gonna be
a long time from now, though, I think to a
lebron a d you think that's gonna mean something. Now
they are like regular season games, so you know that's
I thought that was a pretty good idea. It doesn't
(14:31):
make it seem feel like a tournament, but it is
at least, you know, you would think they're gonna play
hard because it's like a regular season game. But all right,
we got Eddie House coming up in a moment, the
NBA champion. We'll talk to him about Team USA. That's next,
a couple keep it locked. Fox Sports Radio.

only Eddie House.
Speaker 3 (16:04):
What our brother?
Speaker 9 (16:06):
What's happening? What's going on?
Speaker 7 (16:07):
Gentlemen?
Speaker 3 (16:08):
Weird man?
Speaker 1 (16:09):
Look, let's start with Team USA. How does are you
surprised at this point?
Speaker 3 (16:16):
We we never win the Feeble World Cup anymore? You surprised? Disappointed?
What are your thoughts?
Speaker 9 (16:24):
I would say, uh, I wouldn't go as far as disappointed.
I would say, yeah, I'm kind of disappointed, even though
at the end of the day, that was our B team,
you know. And I was just talking to a guys
from Canada and he was going back and forth talking about,
uh and you know, in the Olympics, they gonna come
for us, and I was like, man, we're gonna have
(16:45):
our real hitters coming over the next time, you know,
in the Olympics. So I was disappointing the fact that
that they they did lost. I still thought that they
should have had an opportunity. But again, you got to
give credit to those other guys, but that was our
B team. Man, let's be and C team.
Speaker 3 (17:05):
I hear you, I hear you.
Speaker 1 (17:08):
And obviously you got Lebron and Duran and Staph and
d Book and all these guys talking about playing in
the actual Olympics, and I, look, I would pick us
to win. But remember with the redeem Team in two
thousand and eight, and they were loaded, right Kobe, Lebron,
d Wade, Dwight Howard when he was at his best
all that, and.
Speaker 3 (17:29):
They had their hands full with Spain in that championship game.
Speaker 1 (17:34):
It ended up being an eleven point victory, but it
was in the balance in the final moments. So even
I think even if we send our heavy hitters again,
I would pick us to win, but it wouldn't be automatic.
I mean, we'd have our hands full.
Speaker 9 (17:50):
I think, Well, I don't think it would be automatic.
I'm not saying that the countries aren't better than what
they were in ninety two when it was the Dream Team.
They're head and shoulders better and that's and they're showing
that when they beat us in the Fever when we
send our B and C team over there. But when
it comes to the Olympics, I think that you've got
(18:11):
to give credit for what David Stern did and the
NBA globalizing the game of basketball, making it to where
it's something that is. The NBA was reaching everywhere. People
wanted to be a part of the NBA. People love
the NBA, the advertisement, the promotion of it. So that's
this is the we're seeing the fruit of it, you
(18:33):
know what I mean. So yeah, I think that no
matter what, Big're gonna win to go uh in the Olympics.
Speaker 4 (18:41):
Hey, Ed, let's go to a serious topic.
Speaker 6 (18:45):
Kevin Porter Junior and the story that's come out and
all that's happened, and obviously a man innocent is proven guilty,
but it just it looks pretty bad, uh the NBA
and how they move forward or deal with this.
Speaker 4 (18:59):
We've seen it other sports.
Speaker 6 (19:01):
Uh, you know, the Dodgers have had two pictures with
some issues. They cut those guys loose rather than bring
those guys back. If these all the accounts that we've
read and seen are true, how severe.
Speaker 4 (19:15):
Do you think the punishment will be for Kevin Porter?
Speaker 9 (19:19):
I don't it's not looking good from what you just said,
you know, is you've got to follow suit and kind
of keep that because there's no place for that regardless.
I don't care what's going on. You shouldn't uh get
to that extreme unless you fight for your life, right,
you know. And now it'd be different. Somebody got a
gun about to shoot you, got a knife and a
stab you and things happened. You gotta get got up
(19:41):
out of there, and something happened to it where you
were just protecting yourself. But when it's in that situation
big as a man he is, I think it's an
unfortunate situation for everybody involved, you know, for for him, uh,
the organization, but now also for her. What happened to endure,
So so I'm expecting a stiff penalty. I think that
(20:03):
this is something that has been getting cracked down more
and more, and we've seen more and more instances of
these type of of this type of behavior, so I
expect it to come down harder, almost like an example like, Okay,
this is the one right here where we're gonna set
the We're gonna set the standards.
Speaker 1 (20:22):
Yeah, I mean, look, I'm all for second chances and
all that, but.
Speaker 3 (20:27):
He may not. He may need to be out of
the league for good.
Speaker 10 (20:31):
I mean, it's ridiculous, like a year or so, where
then he can ask for a real statement if he
gets re obligation or whatever, but definitely at minimum a year,
a minimum minimum.
Speaker 9 (20:46):
Yeah, I wouldn't argue. I wouldn't argue with you guys.
Speaker 1 (20:50):
Whatever.
Speaker 9 (20:51):
I think whatever the Commission is gonna come down with
and the league comes down with, I don't think there's
anything that anybody can argue with at that, you know,
when it comes down, unless it's something that's super light
and to slap on the wrisk and I just don't expect.
Speaker 4 (21:04):
That I need to do.
Speaker 9 (21:05):
I expect this to be an example and she's a.
Speaker 4 (21:08):
Part of the NBA family. A w NBA player that's
a part of family.
Speaker 9 (21:13):
That's crazy.
Speaker 3 (21:14):
It's just horrible what he did. What are you thinking?
I mean, are you a bit surprised?
Speaker 1 (21:22):
I mean, we're like about two weeks away from the
start of the season, believe it or not, as far
as training camps and stuff like that. Are you surprised
that Damian Lillard hasn't been traded at this point and
are you starting to feel like he won't be traded
before the season starts.
Speaker 9 (21:40):
Well, I'm not surprised for this. Once it came out
that it was like Miami or nowhere again, I feel
like at that point people going to be in Who's like, Hey,
we ain't gonna allow that to happen. No, no, do
not do it.
Speaker 11 (21:53):
The league.
Speaker 9 (21:53):
We've seen the league stepping before it and Nick's a trade,
Chris Paul going to the Lakers, So we've seen it
before and it might not be on the forefront, but
in the background, I'm quite sure that there's something going on.
And then they're probably asking for a vote load for him. Man,
at the end of the day, Miami's not probably not
willing to part with some of those pieces. I know
(22:16):
that tat Riley loves Tyler Hero and so you know
he would definitely have to be involved in that trade.
I'm not sure if Tad is willing to let the
youngster go, you know, for an older guy, but he
always is looking to win. If it does make him
bring a championship, he'll forget about Tyler Hero. But I
think that in the background there are things that's going
on to where it's just hey, you know, you're gonna
(22:36):
have to work this out how it normally goes, and
I think he'll be I said this first, if he
just stayed there until the All Star break or toil
a trade deadline, excuse me, and then from that point
they can move. And that's what I would do if
I was spoiling, because then you could help groom this youngster,
show this jumster how to be a professional. Because when
(22:56):
these young players come in the league, if you don't
have any guidance or any og vents, you just kind
of run them up and you really don't learn how
to become a professional. So it's very important to where
you get drafted at, who you get drafted with, as
far as teammates and things like that and coaching staff
and organizations. So all right, I don't expect them to move.
Speaker 1 (23:18):
That's our man, Eddie House, great stuff, brother, We appreciate
shade you, Thank you.
Speaker 9 (23:22):
On y'all be cool, all right.

NFL Executive of the Year, now Fox Sports Radio, NFL
analysts analysts. We welcome in Randy Muller. Randy, how are
you yo?
Speaker 3 (24:11):
Yo?
Speaker 11 (24:12):
Guys, just go on a.
Speaker 1 (24:14):
Lot with the Jets. Obviously, and let's start right there.
I mean, obviously we're all saddened by what happened to
Aaron Rodgers, but from if you were running the Jets,
and obviously you were in the front office, would you
be content with trying to go with Zach Wilson.
Speaker 3 (24:34):
Let's just start with, do you believe that they are.
Speaker 1 (24:36):
Content because they're saying he's our guy, We're all in
on him. You think they really mean that? Or should
they be looking elsewhere?
Speaker 3 (24:46):
Well?
Speaker 11 (24:46):
Can we do a little can we do a little
of both? I would say this, I do think they're
all in on him. I think he gives them the
best chance right now. I think they've had to have
had this discussion even before Aaron got hurt about what
would we do. Know my years as a GM we
would brainstorm all the things that we thought might happen,
just so we could discuss it ahead of time. And
(25:07):
my guess is they had made up their mind this
was going to be the way it's going to be now.
I'll say this, I like Jack Wilson coming out, so
I have a little longer rope with him. I understand
the things that he went through last year, but I'll
say this in his defense. The whole offense stunk with
the Jets last year. And I'm not making excuses for him,
but they were bad in a lot of other areas.
I think he's a little more humble. I think he's
(25:29):
already gained from being the backup to Aaron Rodgers. I
think he's stacked up enough good days in training camps
where Yeah, ideally they would have liked to see him
sit for a year, maybe two, but it is what
it is, and I do think he gives them the
best chance. I think what the Jets have to do
now to answer your question specifically, Chris, is they've got
(25:49):
it all in the offense. It's one thing to talk
about it at the podium, but they've got to spin
the offense to the exact things that he does well.
I would say this, I have as much question about
the offensive coordinator in that he's always cold plays. When
Aaron Rodgers was involved all his years in Green Bay,
he spent time devising teams. Now that's not the case.
(26:10):
So they've got his pivot and do things that Zach does. So,
having said that, I wouldn't mind if they picked up
a veteran somewhere along the way as an insurance policy
against something happened to Zach. So whether that's a Colt
McCoy or somebody like that that could line up and
play in a week or two and get no reps
leading into the game. I think they've got to protect
(26:30):
themselves that.
Speaker 6 (26:30):
Way, Randy, I'm gonna push back. I think that the
Jets didn't think about this. If they thought if they
thought they had a team that could really have a
chance to run to the super Bowl with an old
quarterback who with a leaky offensive line that was getting
manhandled all in the cheap joint practices in the preseason
(26:53):
games and all the other stuff, and you didn't have
anybody ready. Now you're going to bring the guy Zach Wilson.
I respect if you say you like him or whatever.
Speaker 4 (27:02):
And maybe it wasn't all.
Speaker 6 (27:04):
His fault, but they tried anybody who could play quarterback,
three four different guys last year, anybody, but they ridiculed
this kid. They said he couldn't play if they really
believed in him, and they just felt like he needed
more time and reps and they could win and he
could do the job without We don't need a quarterback
(27:24):
to throw aout four thousand, a million yards. All we
need is somebody not to turn the ball over and
be a game manager.
Speaker 4 (27:31):
They could have worked through it with the defense they have.
Speaker 6 (27:34):
I think that they put all the eggs in the
basket and never even thought about Aaron Rodgers not being there.
Speaker 4 (27:39):
Why not have a.
Speaker 6 (27:40):
Veteran quarterback and there are a few guys out there
to back up Aaron Rodgers just in case he misses
three or four game, not maybe the whole season.
Speaker 4 (27:50):
I don't think you planned for that, but they didn't.
Speaker 6 (27:53):
It doesn't look like they As soon as this kid
throws three picks Randy, they'll be all over him.
Speaker 4 (27:58):
I don't think they have any confidence in it.
Speaker 11 (28:00):
Well, when you say they, we know New York fans
and we know New York media. I can promise you
you're probably right regarding them. But I do think there'll
be a little humility in Zach and you'll see a
little different player. And I think the way he's come
about getting this job that time around, and it sets
him up a little differently inside that locker room. I
think there is a little bit of respect for him.
(28:22):
I think he has grown up a little bit. And
I don't think a bump in the road is going
to send anybody but the media into saying here we
go again, Here we go again. I think these guys
will be willing to do what they can to support
him because I think they think he gives them the
best chance right now. Now, I'm not saying this guy
is the second Coming, Believe me, I get it, but
(28:43):
I think they've got a rally behind him. They've got
to back him. And when I say they, I'm talking
about the locker room. That's the biggest thing for me.
I know coaches can say certain things at the podium,
but I care about what the locker room thinks. If
he loses their trust, then we got issues. That's why
I think to insurance, you get a veteran guy, bring
him in there, have him be the third guy. Now
(29:04):
you don't have to dress him all the time. I
don't necessarily need him to get us out of a game,
but I need him the next day if something happens
to Zach. So I don't know, I hear your point.
I just think this kid's been ganged up on for
a lot of the wrong reasons, and some of it
he's brought it on himself. But I think there's something
there that they can hopefully dictate the things that they
(29:25):
that he does, and use the strength of what he
does to put together schemes and game plans. Now, I
don't know if that's going to show against the Cowboys
this week, because that's a different bird as we saw
they're going to come.
Speaker 6 (29:34):
After, right, let me ask you about that, And Chris,
I just want to Daniel Jones, and you know a
lot of people question the Giants signing him and the
money that they gave him, and Chris and I we
thought he had an okay season, nothing worth forty some
odd million dollars. But anyway, how much of is that
(29:55):
a Daniel Jones or just the Giants and what they
do because that was just an.
Speaker 4 (30:00):
The opening game.
Speaker 11 (30:02):
Yeah, it was totally embarrassing. I totally agree. I think
they would tell you that. I think it was a
meltdown of epic proportions on all phases. I think Daniel
obviously didn't play well. I get a little nervous when
I hear the Giants talk about, well, we're gonna be
able to throw the ball downfield, We're gonna open it
up a little bit. I think they got to go
back and remember who they are and what they do
and what this kid's strengths are. They're gonna have to
(30:25):
rely on the running game. Now, that game got away
from them early. You have a nine point swing the
first time you line up, that's a big thing to
recover from. And I get it, you've got to be resilient.
But I'm not ready to give up on Daniel Jones.
I think they're going to flush that film right down
the toilet and start over next week. But I think
they it was a wake up call in that we
won ten games last year or whatever they won by
(30:46):
doing things a certain way. We're gonna have to do
that same type thing this year. I thought they were
going to. I felt like they started last week by
thinking we're gonna freewheel ourselves. We're gonna be the Miami Dolphins.
That's not who they are.
Speaker 1 (31:00):
Before you go, Randy, obviously, Josh Allen had a horrible
opening game. Concern to you about him this season.
Speaker 11 (31:10):
I'm concerned from the standpoint of and he said it.
I'll just use his words, the same old stuff, right,
that's sos right. He makes the same mistakes when when
we're trying to run over people on a two yard
run and we're hurdling people, where's the risk reward? That's
like like Sean McDermott was pointing to his head. Let's
be smart. That part was missing. I just don't understand it.
(31:32):
I think the kid's really good. I think he's MVP caliber,
but when he plays I don't want to say silly
like that. That's ridiculous. That's a drunk Carnie, you know, ride,
you know that's nuts. I don't think anybody's want to
be part of that. And I think you'll lose the
faith of his guys in the locker room.
Speaker 7 (31:49):
Again.
Speaker 11 (31:49):
That's where I always go back to, Gosh, you're the guy.
You've got to take care of yourself. You can't be
diving into piles on first and ten to make it
second Nate. I mean, that's ridiculous, you know. So I
think there's a learning period there. I just think he
got he has a problem in that he gets out
of his own element and thinks he can do it
all like Superman and he doesn't need to. So that's
(32:10):
it's an issue. I wouldn't nothing, Dore's anything to do
about it except try to reel it back and Friday
getting to play within himself.
Speaker 3 (32:17):
All right.
Speaker 1 (32:18):
That's Randy Mueller, former NFL Executive of the Year.
Speaker 3 (32:21):

Slash match, of course, Jerry Jones spoke.
Speaker 1 (33:13):
He typically speaks on Tuesdays after the Cowboys play on Sunday,
or usually here's what he said yesterday.
Speaker 7 (33:23):
Rob If I've ever seen anybody that is so sound
and its psychic, so prepared, he relies on his preparation
better than anybody that I've been around. You get somebody
that team will follow. That's the key. He's the best
leader that I've ever seen at that position. And we've
(33:43):
been around some good ones. Outstanding Tony I think was
just outstanding. But that's quite a leader I play at
that position.
Speaker 3 (33:52):
It's just a little too much, Rob, who's he talking about?
Dak Prescott?
Speaker 4 (33:57):
Oh god?
Speaker 3 (33:59):
I mean first he said at that position? So does that.
Speaker 1 (34:03):
Bring in other quarterbacks outside of the Dallas family, Tom Brady, Uh,
you know, Peyton Manning, some of these other guys and.
Speaker 6 (34:14):
Them Marino Rogers. I mean, I could go on and
on Bot Starr as he been.
Speaker 4 (34:20):
I mean, come on.
Speaker 1 (34:22):
Even within the Dallas Cowboys family, there was a guy
named Roger Starbuck.
Speaker 3 (34:28):
And then Troy Aikman, which he mentioned.
Speaker 6 (34:30):
Rob, why it's not necessary and it's an especially Chris
after he didn't even play that well in Game one.
They didn't need him to do anything. The defense scored right,
it was a it was a mismatch.
Speaker 4 (34:45):
And what did he have?
Speaker 6 (34:46):
One hundred and thirty yards? One hundred and forty yards?
I mean coming off of that, that's what.
Speaker 4 (34:50):
That's what.
Speaker 6 (34:51):
That's the conversation, Like you gotta inflate his ego and
say something, why'd you go out and get a quarterback.
Speaker 4 (34:58):
Then if he's the best s all.
Speaker 3 (35:01):
This is part of what bothers me about the Cowboys, Rob.
Speaker 6 (35:05):
This is why I know that Chris, and I know
I picked him this year on paper.
Speaker 3 (35:11):
I know what.
Speaker 6 (35:11):
Every year, there's always something and this is I agree
with you. There's no reason to do this, there's no
reason to put this out there.
Speaker 3 (35:19):
You can come, you can easily.
Speaker 1 (35:21):
Say, hey, Dak Prescott's a great leader. We we got
no questions about Dak. We're happy with our quarterback, make
no mistake about it.
Speaker 3 (35:32):
We believe he's gonna have a great year. Is that
too much?
Speaker 1 (35:36):
That's a complimentary And I do think Dak is actually
a good leader, but the best we've ever seen, the
best quarterback leader we've ever seen. Even if he is
Rob just talking about the Cowboys, it's still way overboard.
Speaker 3 (35:59):
It's too much.
Speaker 6 (36:00):
It is and and not a franchise like that that's
had some great quarterbacks and one.
Speaker 4 (36:06):
It's just a total slapping. It's just a total slap
in the face. It really is to to to their
organization and what they've been able to do.
Speaker 6 (36:15):
It just it just is for a guy Chris who's
pretty good at the pretty good, but.
Speaker 4 (36:20):
Hadn't won anything, hadn't done anything that. There's just no
reason to do all that. There's just no reason.
Speaker 3 (36:26):
And he's the one I'm not saying that.
Speaker 1 (36:30):
Look, I think Philadelphia is very good. I think San
Francisco is very good. I think Detroit is really good too.
Dallas is right there. There's no doubt they got a
shot to get to the super Bowl. But the one
one of the major question Rob that people have about them.
I mean, the offensive line is great, right, the defense
(36:52):
obviously is phenomenal, The receiving corps is very good, the
running backs are really good. What is one of the
major questions is what is Dak going to do when
we get in big playoff games?
Speaker 3 (37:08):
So Rob, was Jerry just trying to, like, you know, show.
Speaker 1 (37:12):
Support for him or boost his ego or get him
help get him more confidence?
Speaker 3 (37:19):
Is that what he's doing?
Speaker 6 (37:21):
But you don't need to do that coming off the game, Chris,
take the win, you blew out a division rival.
Speaker 4 (37:28):
You gotta feel good about it, and and and and
and go from there, like what why? Why? The over
the top? Uh?
Speaker 6 (37:37):
Where where it's some conversation You're you're starting to get
people to bash that, to say he ain't all that,
because that's really.
Speaker 1 (37:45):
What you wind up doing. Right now, You're right, you
know what I mean, that's true. That's a great point. Yeah,
I mean, you're right.
Speaker 3 (37:52):
He maybe Jerry thought.
Speaker 1 (37:54):
He was boosting up Dak and I'm gonna say something
great about him.
Speaker 3 (37:57):
You know, he's the one. If there was anything negative.
Speaker 1 (38:00):
To say about Game one, it was just that Dak
didn't play great. Maybe I'm gonna boost him up. But
you're right now people are like, really, ever heard of
Troy Aikman Rogers starbit.
Speaker 3 (38:11):
Now That's what I'm mean. Feel bad.
Speaker 6 (38:13):
So now you're you're actually in backfires on you because
because he's not getting that love, you don't have to
go to extreme say whatever you want to say that
he's prepared whatever.
Speaker 4 (38:23):
I'm trusting him.
Speaker 6 (38:24):
You know, this might be the year that he finally,
you know, can put it all together and have that
postseason game we've been waiting on.
Speaker 4 (38:31):
That is that bad? That's not bad?
Speaker 3 (38:34):
Right, Leave it at that.
Speaker 1 (38:35):
Don't don't have to go to the superlatives. Rob, I
tell you what, I'm excited. I mean, I think Dallas
is gonna win definitively against the Jets. But I'm excited
to see what Dak does against this defense. I think
that's a real interesting storyline. I mean, I think Dallas's
(38:56):
defense is gonna have its way with the Jets, but
I want to see what Dak does because that is
the top defense he's facing.
Speaker 4 (39:06):
Yeah, it'll be interesting to see.
Speaker 6 (39:07):
If he throws the three picks in the fumbled then
the Dallas is gonna be in trouble.
Speaker 1 (39:13):
If he makes it closer than it should be or
I mean, it's hard for me to see them losing,
but if he makes it closer than it should be, Yeah,
it's gonna be interesting.
Speaker 3 (39:22):
All Right, we got the OCA, We got an hour left.
Y'all know what to do. Lock it
