partner Rob Parker. We are coming to you live from

(00:48):
the Geico Fox Sports Radio studios. Fifteen minutes could save
you fifteen percent more on your car insurance. Visit Geico

here on our funky flash Back Friday. DJ Alex tischert
as always on the ones and twos, and you can

(01:09):
bring funk. Now we don't have to play Christmas songs
even though you made it. You made the holiday songs funky.
But now you can do your thing and digging the crates.
But it's an NFL wild Card weekend coming up, of course,
and we're gonna talk plenty of NFL got some great
guests too. A celebrity corner at the bottom of the hour.

(01:29):
All I'm gonna say is this, it's a hip hop legend,
all right. It is a hip hop legend. Rob probably
never heard of him because he's in the groups like
Chief He went to my school, ru, What are you
talking about? Did he? Yes, he's from Long Island. He
went to Southern Connecticut State Universal. You have, sucker, But

(01:50):
what you don't know who he went to? Tell that's
the name of it. Southern Connecticut State University, New Haven,
Connecticut North one of the greatest college towns, one of
the greatest college towns in this country. Then why do

(02:11):
you always claim Colombia? Why Columbia the intro say one
went to an IVY League school other than one went
to a Division three, Division two school in the south
side of Connecticut. One, Why don't you say that, Well,
we don't have enough. We had that in there, but
it didn't fit. Columbia was just a clean or an

(02:32):
easier fit IVY League. You know what I'm saying. And
it was to one up you that you didn't go
to IVY League. That ain't no IVY League college is
a Midwest ivy and ain't no such things the Midwest.
It's a poison ivy is what it is. That's when
you went to poison ivy. All Right, all right, all right,
all right, you got some nerves. You don't know who

(02:54):
he is you. I just told you what group was
he with PMD Alright, alright, I'm not of it away,
but but I want you to ask him jam the EPM. Yes,
I did I know you were older when they came out.
I want you to ask him what school we did
he go to? They went to the Southern Connecticut, Connecticut
Institute of Techno Community College North. Don't this my school?

(03:16):
We had? We had top shelf rappers coming out of
New Haven, Connecticut. What I didn't introduced the Eye Couple crew.
That's right. So we can get to it and I
can smash you in these debates. And you see how firey.
I've already done two shows today, six hours on the board.
I'm going up to nine nine hours stop. I'm the

(03:39):
radio god Radio. I'm the king of all media eyes.
I just did six hours. I crushed everybody who I
had this morning. I'm gonna crush you. It'll be three
for three to hat track. I wouldn't let it slide.
I was going to let it slide. But because you
started dragging about hard I work. The hardest working man

(04:04):
is show business. I missed the dynamite, like James Brown
you if you hadn't have gone there, I wouldn't have
called you out. But now I've got to call your bluff.
Rod Parker talking about how hard you work. Yeah, okay,
this week you're doing three shows a day and I
applaud that's a hard that's a hard week. That is

(04:24):
a hard week. But here's the problem. Here's the problem.
You just took ten days off to go to Antarctica,
and in a month or two you're taking another ten
days off to go on the freaking Golden Girl's cruise.
So don't give me the bragging dosha. Don't tell me

(04:45):
about how hard you work when every other month you're
taking a week and a half off. And it ain't
even for fun stuff. It is fun the Golden Girls
cruise Antarctica. Just wait and see when I come back.
I might have I get csick pretty soon. Rob, everybody
there's gonna be as old as your mom. Wow, seriously,

(05:10):
I'm am I wrong. No, there'll be young girls there,
like the couple I mean working the Golden Girl. They're
working I might meet the midnight buffa, I might meet
somebody who's working on the ship. All right, let's walcome
into our couple of creel. He's gonna rip me because
I worked so hard and I want to take a
week off. I just do my job every day. I

(05:33):
don't take off every two You don't tell you know
you take off every week. Really, I worked last week
Christmas week, I worked TV and radio. You did like
one day. I would sharing four days of TV and radio.
All right, let's welcome into the odd couple of crew.
Alex and I both know because we're here all the times, right, Rob,
I do since DJ tyshon sliding a little, a little

(05:56):
to my little well, because we bonded, we worked together
all the time. The champ is here in the long time, Chris,
have you seen these Jordans? Ye? All right, here we go.
All right, let's welcome into our couple of cool. Wouldn't
be able to do this fine radio program without him. Gavin,
of course, is our producer filling in for Rob g today. Alex.
Our engineer Steve de Sagers at the anchor desk. He'll

(06:19):
keep us updated throughout the program, and our social media guru,
Elijah is here as well. They're all on the other
side of the glass. Come on, Chris Bussot on this
funky flashback Friday. Let's kick some ass. Let's do it.
And speaking of kicking tail, I gotta feeling we're in

(06:41):
church out Wednesday, New England Patriots. I'm not gonna share
my pick yet, but they play Tennessee and I think
that Tom Brady and Bill Belichick when I have something
up their sleeve for these upstart Tennessee Titans. But here
they did. Gavin. I'll say this real quick. Check out
our pigskin picks all year about football soul. You, Well,

(07:04):
this year I had the Super Bowl hangover. I won.
I'm the only one with a ring. We only even
had the show for a year, but I won the first.
I won thee not as much as I beat you
this year. I beat you like a draw. That's not true.
I beat you like last year. You were horrible. Last
I still was over fifty percent. I wasn't below fifty.
You're below fifty. Matter running It was an ell A

(07:26):
running ten. What is fifty six thirty three and one
for Rob Hey fifty six thirty three. Chriscentages that it's
not as good as uh, it's not as bad as this.
That's fifty six percent, right, thirty six I was sixty two,

(07:47):
sixty thirty six. I was sixty four last we're talking
about this year. That's all news. Chris. I got the record.
Not only do I have a ring, I have the
right on the record a couple of record for picks.
So until you do something like that, stop it, something,
stop it. Chris is amazing, like like like the way

(08:07):
he could talk himself into feeling good about him, so
he stunk up to join He was the original Freddy
Bathrooms this year. Hey he Mohammed Ali took a few elves,
but he still was what the greatest? In fact, it's
a perfect time, Alex. No, oh god, it's a perfect time.
If you hadn't played it, I really would have been like,
hold up those Jordan's definitely bought his soul. I was

(08:29):
way rob came in second last year, but he won
eleven games more than you. Yes, thank you, thank you. Yeah.
I was sixty four percent last year. Robber's fifty six percent.
You want in the write home about fifty six percent?
You were like thirty some percent? What was I had

(08:51):
the Super Bowl hangover. But let's go. I can't. I
took you lightly and with good reason. I have been
coming to NFL since nineteen eighty six. Next year, I'm
coming hard. All right. Here's the deal. This could be
Tom Brady's last game with the New England Patriots, and
many people, many plugged in reporters, are saying it will be.

(09:13):
Whenever they lose, that'll be his last game. The question
Rob is should it be? And I say no. I
said absolutely, it should be the last game. You've been
saying that for five years. And it's a combination of things.
The reason why, Hey, I think the Patriots should move on,
but I also believe that Tom Brady should move on.

(09:33):
They gave him a bogus contract with no guaranteed money
in the final two years. He's never gotten paid what
he deserves. And I'm talking about as being that quarterback
that's won six championships, and they never took that extra
money that tom Brady was helping out the roster, and
they never brought in guys to help him, boast up
his offense, to help tom Brady. So why stick around?

(09:56):
Go get paid, Go get a nice contract. You got
a beautiful Houston, Southern California. Your wife is out here
for her model, and do all that come to the Chargers,
get away from Bill Belichick and the Patriots, and you
know what, try to be Peyton Manning and win another
championship elsewhere so people will know and your legacy will be.

(10:17):
Tom Brady was not a system quarterback stock who just
benefited off of Bill Belichick. He's the goat to everybody
on earth except you, and and you calling him a
system quarterback. System quarterback. Bill Belichick has had coached seven
seasons without Tom Brady. Guess how many times he made
the playoffs once, even in New England. Don't get me

(10:40):
all with the Browns. No, he wasn't just the Browns.
He should he should have had another one. He had
eleven wins when bradys. No, they didn't. But it's not
about the best, right, It's about making the playoffs and
they having the year, so that didn't make it bad.
The year before. I don't try to deflect the year

(11:03):
before Brady took over, Belichick won five games in New England,
and then the season when he took over, Belichick had
a losing record. When Brady took over, Brady has been excellent.
If anybody's been carried, and I think he's the goat
as well, it's been Belichick. And so Brady has nothing

(11:23):
to prove. Now I will say this, You go to
the Chargers, you got better receivers, Keenan Allen, they got
a squad, got a squad. And that's my point to
New England. Don't be so clock. This reminds me Bill
Belichick all to talk about. He wants to prove it
without Brady. He wants to move on. Guess who else

(11:44):
wants to move on? Jerry Krause and Jerry Ryansdorf in
Chicago from Michael and Phil Jackson. How that work out?
Do you remember when you remember when don't be so
quick to kill a dynasty. Get some skilled player is
in there that our top flight at pair him with
the older Tim Brady. Michael said he wanted Phil Jackson

(12:05):
to come back. The first thing the Bulls did was say,
we're not residing Phil Jackson. So they basically told Michael
we don't care. And you know why, because they wanted
to show it's not all about Michael. We can do it.
And that's what Belichick seems, at least according to reports
that a lot of people say he seems been on that.
Let me show I can do it without time. No,

(12:28):
do it with time and time. Look again, the Chargers
would gap some receivers for him, but still it's different.
You're comfortable in New England, you're comfortable with the system.
You're gonna be in trouble. Top flight receivers in there
to help him, and I think they can still be
a factor. You you were all in on Dak he

(12:49):
couldn't make it. You're you're all about this ship. I'm
just saying he had one. He didn't have a bad season,
but winning rise. He had a bad He didn't beat
anybody yet, but he has in his career. But this
will be it With Tom Brady, I think I'm saying
for both parties, for Bill Belichick, his obvious tension between
the two. They were saying that last there's this tension

(13:13):
now and if you can before they won the Super
you could pooh pooh to Tom Brady putting his house up,
for saying his trainer and all that he's out of
New England. People don't do that. That's like when Lebron
bought his other house here. You knew he was on
his way here and Tom Brady's on his way should
be all right, what I'm saying, he's not out. I'm

(13:35):
not gonna you know, I believe the reporting out there.
I'm just saying they should think. Both sides need to
reevaluate and say, you know what, it's not that bad.
You know, when you're when you're married and you're your
marriage is having trouble, you're always looking elsewhere who you're telling.
But here's the thing with many divorced people, it's a
marriage counseling. For me, I've been married twenty four years.

(13:57):
You bring the same issues that you got into your
next relationship, and oh, it's all nice and great for
you know at first, because every relationship is like that
at first. First. They might be different issues in your
next marriage, but they're gonna be issues. They're gonna issues
in every relationship. But sometimes, and Chris, I respect that

(14:20):
you got twenty four years on the books. I mean,
I know it ain't easy, but there are situations circumstances
where things are so bad and you're not happy that
sometimes I think this is England. Is low England that bad?
I never thought I would be divorced. I didn't when
I got married. Of course you didn't. I really didn't.
I never looked went into it like that. I told
you this before. Mike's wife is the only woman I

(14:43):
told you said I love you too, because I never
took it for a great because you were mean. No,
I just didn't. I would always just have a you know,
something else to say. I was trying to be respectful,
not to guess. Guess these women up like you know,
guys will tell them any Listen the player player, I'm
just trying women. They was all on me. I want

(15:04):
to mislead them. I mean, by the hundreds, they were
stacked up. Listen to Parker. You could either stand outside,
we'll Champlain's door my door, either one just lit up,
or that note. We're gonna throw it out to you.
Eight seven seven ninety nine on Fix eight seven seven
nine nine six sixty three sixty nine. We're having some

(15:24):
fun on a funky flashback Friday. But we want to
know which from you. Should this be Tom Brady's, you know,
potentially his last game as a Patriot. Let me put
it this way, to be his last playoff run with
the Patriots, right, should the Patriots winning back next season,
I say they should keep it together, not say no way,

(15:46):
no how Let the old man go. All right, we'll
continue the conversation with you. Next, it's The Eye Couple
of Fox Sports Radio. Be sure to catch live editions
of The Odd Couple with Chris Brussar then Rob Parker
weekdays at seven pm Eastern four pm SIFEC on Fox
Sports Radio and the iHeart Radio AP. It's the Eye
Couple of Chris Brussard and Rian Parker. We've got some

(16:07):
great news for you. There's a quick and easy way
you can save money. Switch to Geico. That's right, you
can save money by switching the guecode. It only takes
fifteen minutes to see if you can save fifteen percent
the morning your car insurance, go to Geico dot com
and see how much you can save. This was my
theme song when I was in my twenties. Pick up
the pieces in your twenties. All right, that's not bad.

(16:33):
Off the top of my back, Come on, Chris, pick
up the pieces. You didn't even make Craig Melvin laugh?
What all right? Did I get the rain? Right? Craig
Melvin kawhi nor Craig Miller, all right? Eight seven seven
ninety nine on Fox Age seven seven nine nine, six
sixty three sixty nine. All right, let's go with Diego

(16:53):
in Washington. Diego, Welcome to the Eye Couple. Hey, how's
it going. I just wanted to, first off, get my
decision off. Give a shout out to Rob Parker and
Chris Zard because you'll have been holding it down for
like the past two weeks, just on every single show
out there, like I've been grinding throughing like the holiday,
and as a fan, it means a lot. Thank you, man,

(17:13):
I really do. Yep, I understand because this time of
the year, most of the guys are taking off and
then you got a lot of fillings. And there's nothing
wrong with the fillings, but I get it. You know,
you want to hear your regular guys. People are off now, right,
and they don't get to want to see the TV
shows exactly. So what do you got, Diego? So I
don't I think Tom Brady should retire as a Patriot.

(17:34):
I think there's too many teachers that the Patriot's gonna
need next year. And it's a hard system and learn
offensive week and I don't think it all just starts
in the line from and I don't know I'm not
even a Patriot fan, but see him to go into
the Chargers, I don't know. I think good method. You
know what what he meant said New England, Diego, that's
not a bad thing. That would be a little surprising

(17:54):
if Tom Brady just said I'm done and I'm going
to retire, to retire, Yeah, just retire instead of going
but diego. Remember so many other quarterbacks, great quarterbacks, all
went to play somewhere else. And we've all bring up
the list all the time. Brett Farve and and Peyton
Manning and and and Joe Montana and you know what
I mean, All these guys have done up and played

(18:15):
well other places. Yes, but I think he'd have to
really play well or and go deep with this team. Yeah.
If he doesn't, you know, it's not gonna look all right,
let's do Michael and Alabama. You're on the odd couple
of Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Michael? Hey, guys, man, Um,
here's my take on this deal is, if if Tom
doesn't want to go ahead retire of Patriots, try to

(18:37):
see what they can get for him. Through the years,
they've been so good at moving on from players. No,
he appeared to be at the right moment. There's great
chillers like they'll fell high. He doesn't have any guaranteed
money on his contract. He's a free agent as a
March eighteen, so they can't get anything. Tom can just
not sign with them. Yeah that's fine. I mean I wouldn't.

(19:00):
I would definitely not uncertain because, uh, you know, you're playing.
They've been playing with house money for the past several years.
And the way the game has changed his career otherwise. Man,
if this was the nineties footballer eighties, he'd already becased
oh yeah, because he'd be getting hit. Yeah, it would
be totally different the way quarterback. I just think they

(19:21):
need to get him some skill, some better top flight
skill players. He can't carry mediocre skilled position players like
he has most of his career, So get him some talent.
Let's go to market Sacramento, Markomer, Chris and Robb Hey,
what's going on, gentlemen, what's happening? I might had a
couple I'm old enough to add a couple of more
names to that list. I remember Johnny United has ended

(19:42):
up a Charger and Joe and Joe Namer to pitch.
Georgia Rosen Blooms but New York. It didn't didn't go
well for the Broadway. Joe, No, it didn't work with
the Ram. But he did make a guest appearance on
The Brady Bunch. Joe Naman did he he did? He
was Broadway. Joe hedn't google that. Mark, do we lose him?

(20:06):
I think I think a Brady should should should leave.
Nothing wrong with having a second act, but it probably
won't be the charges. I'll tell you why. The spellos
is don't pay nobody. Go ask Melvin Gordon. They don't
give up no money. Mark. The only difference is the
only difference. They got that brand new building and they can't.

(20:26):
They got to sell tickets. They're not selling tickets, they're
not selling PSLs. They could sit around and be penny
pinchers all they want. They got a seventy thousand seat
stadium that's not gonna be full if you brought in
Tom Braid. Yes it's just selling jerseys. Yes it's worth it.
It would be worth it the first year in the
new stadium, no question. Thanks Mark. Let's go to Mike

(20:48):
in New Mexico. Mike, you're on with the eye couple.
Have it Gonella what's up? Man? So I'm gonna take
a difference twist and say they need to keep him.
I mean, you call me Kelly, who what what other
quarterbacks out there? They're gonna get you twelve wins with
mediocre receivers? I mean, right, did him get him some
good receivers? Am I wrong? No? I agree with that one.

(21:11):
I mean he still got some talent. So I think
it goes around like like Payton Manning. Get him a
two year deal? What's another year option? I mean to
see what happened? Then do that? Go ahead and trade
for Odell Beckham, Julie, let me tell you this that
about that, No, I think, yeah, but here you got Mike.
Here's the problem. When they gave him that new contract
and they made the last two years worthless, they told

(21:34):
you all the one they could have. They could have
easily given him a three year deal, Chris, and he
wouldn't be unhappy. Mike. You see what I'm saying. I agree,
I see that. But what I'm saying is we just
don't know what he's gonna have later on. No one
knows because no one, no other quarterbacks made it. As
far as I know, what he's gonna have. He's gonna
have a walker to get out there. That's what he's
gonna have. Thanks for the call, appreciate it. What about Bruce.

(21:58):
That's right, Bruce and Jacksonville. You're on the couple of
Fox Sports Radio. What's going on? Gentlemen, long time listener.
Thanks for the for the great work, y'all done. You
look at that radio voice you got, Bruce Churs. You
wished me last week when I called in, I got
to use Rob's line. But m nah, I'm not a hater.

(22:21):
I'm a reporter. Got right. I did give him that goad.
I did, And I think that when to lose, Tom
Brady needs to walk away. For most people, he's alreadys
demented his gold status and there's nothing at this point
that will change that. If he loses, he needs to
take the queue from his body because he can't physically
perform the way that he once did consistently, and there's

(22:41):
no way that he can go that he's gonna win
another championship. If they do the unlikely and make one
more run, then he should do the John Elway and
call it a career. It'd be perfect because too often
we see great players who don't know when to hang
it up in the left, playing in the shadow and
wants great tales. So thanks for the time, Fellas. If Rady,
let's just say, hypothetically he went to the Chargers and

(23:03):
stunk it up, it wouldn't hurt his legacy. You know,
we've seen if he goes in and get to the
finals there, it would help there. Well, yeah, it would
help it a little. It's already great, don't you think.
Beside we're going to be joined by a legendary rap
artist who went to school with Rob Parkers. No technical

(23:27):
School of Agriculture North But here's first. Fox Sports Radio

Go to Geico dot com or call eight hundred nine
four seven auto. The only hard part is figuring out
which way is easy as rate on our celebrity guests,
We'll take a few more of your calls. Let's go
to John in Tennessee. John, you're on with Christ and Rob,
and I think Tom Brady this is gonna be his

(24:11):
last or ras got much in the thank anymore. I mean,
he's of course the goat. I think he's had a
great career and he's won several super Bowls, but especially
this week it going up against Tennessee, it's gonna be
his last game. Uh, Like I said, a great career,
but I think Thani and A. J. Brown and his

(24:34):
great career. All right, Thanks John, I'm with John on that.
It's all all right. It's time for celebrity corner. God,
I know, for the odd couples, celebrity corner. All right.
This week it's a special guest, an absolute legend in

(24:55):
hip hop. If you don't know this man, you don't
know hip hop, just stop stop acting like you you
know rap music and hip hop. He is a rapper
and producer extraordinary from the legendary group ep MD, none
other than the great Eric Sermon. Eric. Welcome to the show. Brother,

(25:16):
It's great to have you on. Man and Rob wants
to say something you know I do. First of all,
I'm from Jamaica, Queens and I went to Southern Connecticut
State University, just like you guys did. Didn't you go there? Um?
Paris went there, but I was up there with the
most time yelp up in New Haven. See, I knew
that it was a connection there. Yeah, you know what, yo.
Paras played quarterback in high school with to New Haven.

(25:39):
He didn't get to start a quarterback, but he was
a kicker at that at that at that college at
Southern Connecticut. Yea, So were you guys? Were you you
in parish or you yourself? Were you guys athletes coming up? Well?
I played basketball, Plas played football. Yeah game, Oh no,
I was good. I used to see the way way

(26:01):
long shot before the three point was like famous. I
had a long shot and people knew that I was
gonna shoot far for me. So you were just born
into the wrong era. You wouldn't been paying threes nowadays.
I was running threes. Chris ain't allow yalla yo, um
hands down, though, Yo, you're robbed by swim man when
it comes to sports, and y'all speak not because y'are

(26:24):
on the phone. Y'all speak way truths man all the time.
And I know that, Chris. Sometimes it's hard on people
because hey, it Chris, Chris, Joe and Rob don't care neither.
Chris doesn't care about people. And we gotta time, and
you know we're gonna keep it one hundred all the time,

(26:45):
all the time. That's right, that's right. Now. Let me
quickly before we get all into the sports. Your last
album for Nia, Am I pronouncing it right? Vernia? It
ain't that your grandmother right called Bunnia Vernia. I'm sorry
you as shocking there. And I listened to a nice
album too, but you have shocking there. Oh, thank you? Yeah,

(27:06):
because you know, I produced Shack's first album, the first album,
Um was outstanding, Yeah, was platinum back then. So I
was already friends with him back then. Then I produced
on the second album, though two, with the Rizza and
Bicky Smalls rapping on the album. The second album though too.
So Shack was always a friend that always was rapping
with him back then. So I called him one day together.

(27:27):
You want to rap? He said, sure, I do so
the record because I wasn't some of the Shock's success
was the production was awesome. But I remember him was
that before Foosh nickins On? When was that that was before?
Right after? Nick Nick was the first one to do
a shack record. I remember you heard that shack of
rapp on beat then because a lot of producers like

(27:49):
Premiere turns shack down. Really see it had to tell
people what you did. Well, letting Now, let me ask
you this because you I know, you can't pupped up
with the battle Shock had with Damian Lillard. Dame right,
I had the game you knew. You knew when you
were coming on the eye couple. We just gonna put

(28:10):
you on the hot sea. Who who won that damn?
Or a short story? So you know, Shock dca a lot, right.
So eleven o'clock, t M y'all, My damn goes over
right in the shot. So Shock like you hit the battle.
I'm like yeah, he says, you know what you think?
I'm like, yo, know, like, yo, you're you like that

(28:34):
all you said you wouldn't give him? You ain't give
him like a little bit dude, I look fat right?
Wait wait wait wait who Damon is nice as hell?
But I just told people like Joe he opened the door.
So at the end of the day, it is not
real real beef. You have to respect that Shock opened
the door for you. So that's right, right, And I

(28:55):
thought in that battle, like you said, Damien Damon is
a nice I mean, his flow and everything is great,
but yeah, shot had some punchlines though the one punch
line I could have been just okay was the fact,
like yo, I opened the door for you. So no
matter what, then the day that wholes weight. Yeah yeah, yeah.

(29:16):
Now you you are, like you said, a big time
NFL and NBA fan. Um, Lamar Jackson. I know you're
high on him. Um, you think he's changing the NFL.
I think that, um the comment that y'all made, and
not to be on the side of what black and
white is, but I think that you see how many
um African American quarterbacks we have now and you see

(29:38):
that the change of the landscape of looking like Lamar
Jackson the fallest even when Russell rust. I mean, you
gotta go back to Vic, to Vic first, but he
was the first thing that we've seen, Like you're watching
Lebron James the freaking nature. Um you know, Um, Vic
was was that too, but now we're seeing Lamar as
a VIC. But now it's it's a bunch of you know,

(30:01):
every the Patrick Mahones, everybody coming to jack Anybody's coming
at that position has to run and also throw in
the pocket as possible. So you know, I just see
it being as it changed because of the quickness and
when where it's at now with us, Damn, how about

(30:22):
your your love for the Lakers and when you look
at the Lakers this year Lebron and a D and
then you look at the Clippers, uh, with Kawhi and
Paul George, you still like the Lakers better than the
Clippers when we talk about winning a championship. Okay, Rob,
this is what I'm saying though. Two as y'all watched

(30:43):
the game, no line man, my me watching the game
watching Kauai, like I knew he was dangerous, but not
like that though, like he has no fear of no
Lebron or a D. And it just depends on know
what I would keep one hundred. If they don't have
a bench to go along with the bench of Clippers,

(31:05):
it's gonna be a problem for the Lakers to win
with just those two people. I agree with that because
because the Lakers benches, I mean the Clippers bench, they're
ten deep and and the Lakers bench is gonna have
to be able to match up with him. And listen,
I'm a big fan of Rondo, like he's like when
I was watching Boston as a point guard or what

(31:25):
he was able to do. And people keep saying he's
not a scorer. No, he scored with Boston and this coach,
this ship gave him the rains to shoot threes this
year the too. So at the end of the day,
don't sleep on Rondo as far as him being the
point guard that without Kuzma he can he can make
a run in the playoffs with Look what he did
when New Orleans. When New Orleans was there best run

(31:50):
their best, right, he got hurt, right, clip on that,
and Danny Green knowing that too. But Kuzma, if he
stepped up, then they might be a problem. But un killed,
then the Clippers are just stronger. Way they got they
have of course the six minute a year and not
a seven minute a year with Homeboy, So I think,
to me, it's hard to beat them. Eric, we got

(32:12):
about thirty seconds left. It shouldn't take long to answer this.
But the Knicks, I'm sure you're a Knicks fan, man,
go up. It's wrong with this team. Man, it's not gonna,
not gonna. They gotta get rid of they gotta get
rid of homeboy. It's tough when he's once. Once he
goes and we get somebody who knows, like you know,

(32:34):
knows how to go shot for people the whole night
and the Okay, but not now with him and the
great Eric Sermon man, we appreciate having you on, brother,
and listen. I got to come there live because I
can't get no part with a picture. But the picture
you ever now when you late, let us know, because

(32:57):
you know, I just go rob you know too that
Instagram this problem and get that change that's right, and
come out to LA and come hang out with us
one hour in the studio. Get the number two. We're
gonna stay in touch. He okay, does Carmelo Anthon he
speaking of the Knicks? Does he deserve to have his

(33:19):
jersey retired in New York? And I got you read
that right, I gotta throw out your little You fudged
it a little what he didn't go to Southern Connecticut
Tech Parish did? Yeah, all right, but he's a part
of the PMD. Right on. It was two of them,
but I'm just saying flex you were flexing, man, I

(33:39):
was right, But one of the two, he said he
was with him all the time, hanging out and being
a student. But I knew that one of them was
at the school. I knew it when you flexed the
one the campus when I was there. But I'm just saying,
all right, does Carmelo Anthony deserve to have his jersey
retired with the Knicks? Will continue the conversation. Next, It's

(34:02):
The Eye Couple of Fox Sports Radio. Be sure to
catch live editions of The Odd Couple with Chris Brussard
and Rob Parker weekdays at seven pm Eastern four pm
Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeart Radio app.
It is The Eye Couple of Chris Brussard and Rob Parker,
and it's a funky flashback Friday. DJ Alex Tysher showing off.

(34:24):
All right, so, uh, let's switch to the NBA quickly.
We got it on the screen, Rob. The Portland Trailblazers
are playing the Washington looks like the Washington Wizards. Yeah, right,
like the Washington Generals with that uniform. By the way,
Isaiah Thomas already got ejected from this game. I'm just
glad he's in the league because he had a rough

(34:47):
go of it, and it's unfortunately never got that big payday.
Think about it. This is what four or five years ago,
he was fourth in the MVP voting. Man he was,
he was on the door. He was on the doorstep
of a big deal YEP at least and it didn't happen.
And you know, it was was interesting not to get
up the subject real quick when he when we did

(35:09):
the uh at USC we did at Basketball Players Boot
Broadcast boot camp and he was one of the guys.
It's like, if you want to like try out or
be on TV or something after your career, Chris or whatever,
so you get some training and also boot cap and
he was there and there was a topic that came
up about whether or not you should play or not,

(35:30):
and he just looked straight into camera and said, you know, hey,
I know all about it. I'm a prime example. I
tried to come back early. Like he was real real
with the keeping it that he realized he made a mistake.
And he was telling the guy I can't remember who
the player was, that he shouldn't play and wait till
he secures a contract before you didn't even think about it.
He knows, he knows anybody, and I know it hurts.
It has to hurt. Well, another guy that feels like

(35:53):
he got mistreated by the NBA and he did. Um,
it's Carmelo Anthony. He sat out almost a year are
really a full calendar year essentially, and now the Portland
Trail Blazers picked him up. He's doing okay, fifteen sixteen
points again no um, but you know he's He's shown me.

(36:13):
I always say that he could still be in the
league and still be you know, a decent score. But
the question is this. He was in New York recently
with the Blazers, Carmelo Anthony, and he wants his jersey retire,
which I get, of course you want. You don't ask
for that, Chris, you don't ask for that. No, here's
the thing. Bernard King's jersey's not retired. And he was

(36:34):
a hell of a nick, right, And I look, I'm
gonna be honest. I think Carmelo Anthony has had a
better career than Bernard Kid. Yeah, but maybe only because
Bernard was hurt so much. But don't you would you
agree with that Carmelo's career I don't remember, yeah, but
but I'm just saying. But as far as as a
nick uh either, if he had stayed healthy. Though he

(36:56):
and Patrick Ewing would have played together, they may have
been able to deliver a champion had he You remember,
he forced the Knicks hands and let him go because
he wouldn't let their doctors look at him when he
when he tore up his knee. Because you remember, he
came back and he made the All Star team. He
worked himself back and he could have been And I
don't blame the Knicks at that time. You're not gonna

(37:16):
let all doctors look at you. I can't sign you, Chris,
I agree, So that was the bad part. I didn't
understand what Bernard was going through, but he didn't want
jersey's not retired now most of the players whose jerseys
there's two players whose jerseys aren't retired who didn't win championships.
Dick McGuire, who played in the fifties, you know that's
way back, and Patrick Ewing obviously, and Patrick deserves it.

(37:38):
Not Evening carried the franchise for it, went to two
finals fifty. He's one of the fifty greatest problems of
them all time, one of the greatest shoots shooting big men.
I don't there's no doubt, Like you said, it went
to the finals. Stuff. Mellow look Mellow in my view,
first ballot Hall of Famer definitely should have his jersey
retired prown to with Denver. But no, not in New York.

(38:03):
I hate to put it this way, but it was
viewed it was a failure. Yes, that's that's what it
looks like. Yeah. And when you when you pull the
sheets back, I'm serious. Nobody remembers good times with Mellow.
They love him. He was One year they made the playoffs,
went to the second well, three years they made it,
but one year they went went to the second second

(38:28):
round of the play Yeah, pretty good team. He was
second MVP voting. But unless they start making Bernard King,
Alan Houston Sprewell, unless they start with that, Yeah, Oakley
wasn't it. You got to bring in John Starks, not

(38:49):
if you do Oakley. I don't now. He wasn't as
big as Oakley used to go up against Barkley, and
I know he did. I don't know. We're like, no, no, no, no, no,
all right, I couple two hours left, keep her locked.

fun with him, so stay tuned for that in less
than twenty eight minutes. But we're gonna go back to
the NFL for this segment. This is a little shocking story,
a little bit it is. I didn't expect to see
this because, let's face it, Rob, all we hear about

(40:15):
and understandably so, because it isn't a great place. Is
how the NFL is booming? Right? TV ratings have picked up.
You remember they had the little low a couple of
years ago. Things weren't going well, people weren't watching, and
now the numbers are back to where they were even better,
And there's always a lot to talk like this year.
You hear the NBA ratings are down, right, there's always

(40:36):
talking about baseball's not what it used to be in
terms of popularity. You never hear that about football. But
this story that came out today says that the NFL
attendance this year hit a fifteen year low. So we're
talking about going back to two thousand and four. That's
a long time. That is a long I mean as

(40:58):
big as football was then, it wasn't quite where it
is now, right, No, I mean football scene is bigger
than ever. It's bigger now the last ten years to me,
And because the NFL has turned into a football show.
We talk about it all the time, Chris, when we
talk about economics and pro sports. The reason NBA all
these leagues are doing so well financially is the best

(41:22):
thing on television on live sporting events. Right, People don't watch, right,
everything else to show up. I don't have to be
in front of my TV at eight o'clock Thursday night
or whatever whatever. Sean, I can tape it watch or
they'll let me watch all the episodes at one time
and I can binge watch the whole season anything right now? No,

(41:44):
what are you watching The Guyfather? Harlan? Okay, how's that?
It's excellent? Really? Yeah? So are you being watching watching
it every week? When they when they no, I'm been,
I mean I haven't. I'm not binge watching one or
two days, but I am. Like two nights ago, I
watched two episodes, you'll watch more. Last night I watch one.
So I'll be done in a week. Right, So that
but it's real good. But yeah, so so sports is

(42:06):
the only appointment television and advertisers flocked to it because
they know people on fast forwarding through the commercials, they're
watching the game. They got eyeballs, they pay top dollar,
you know it. Yeah. But people now in the NFL,
like I always said to the NFL is a TV show.
Now now people are staying away. Well let me let

(42:27):
me give them some of the numbers please. Obviously more
people are watching the NFL as you said on TV,
but fewer people are watching it in person. And this
is according to the Sports Business Daily, the NFL average
sixty six thousand, six hundred forty eight fans at home
games this year. That's the lowest since two thousand and four.

(42:48):
Cowboys led the league for the eleventh straight season, and
Jerry World has one almost one hundred thousand, ninety thousand,
nine hundred twenty nine, so basically ninety one thousand, right.
But overall the leagues, obviously their average has dropped and
it's the lowest has been in fifteen, and they say
fifteen teams saw a decline. Here's the thing, Rob, Now

(43:12):
you know this. I mean this goes back what ten
fifty maybe fifteen years ago. I remember hearing stuff like
in twenty five years, in thirty years, they're gonna be
playing NFL games in front of studio audiences. Yeah, like
like wrestling. It would turn into wrestling, like you said,
a TV shows, TV show studio audience, and you might

(43:34):
not have to worry about fifty thousand people showing up
and you have when you open it might be what
a thousand ye whatever if that and they play the game.
But everybody's mainly watching on television and then they pump
in the noise and all that, you know, like you're
doing a show. One of the big things, though, is
that I think it's hurting attend And first of all,
let me say this, let's let's back up. I would

(43:56):
hate that. I don't want to see the NFL as
I like the live games. Now will they have to
make some of the stadium smaller? I don't know, but
I like the live games. But here's the deal. I
love I love going to an NFL game and sitting

(44:16):
in the stands. There's nothing like it. We've done We've
done it before. But here's the deal. The one of
the big things that's killing what I wouldn't say killing football,
but I think one of the reasons why you have
more fans opting to watch it on television rather than
going to the stadium, it's fantasy football. And let's face it,

(44:39):
fantasy football is largely responsible for the growth in popularity
of the NFL, right because there's always it was before
that gambling became legal nationally. People. You can look at
it either way. People are trying to say it's not gambling,
it is. There's a money pot at the end christ's
some financial gain. But even if there weren't, but that's gotten.

(45:00):
Even if you're in the league where there's but there
usually is a pot or something. And I'm not saying
that it makes it more interesting. So people are following
their players whatnot. And if you are really in fantasy football,
do you want to be at a game in the
stadium basically checking your phone or do you want to

(45:21):
be at home where nowadays, like direct TV, you can
watch eight games at once. You can watch four games
at once. You may have two televisions and you're just
watching two at one thing, but you can keep track
of all of the games. And I'll watch I don't

(45:41):
do the eight, but I'll do the four at once,
and like on one TV, I'll have four games. Then
maybe on my computer, I'll have one game that I'm
watching and I'm paying attention to all of them. But
you know, sometimes I like watching one game. If there's
a couple of the game, a few of the games
will be the big games, and I'll pay attention to those.

(46:04):
But yeah, I watched more than one game at once
a lot of times. I'm gonna admit I'm old school.
So there are a lot of games on Chris, I
usually try to pick out the games that I really
want to watch. I'm not I've never watched red zone, never, never,
and it's not bad. I don't watch it religious some
people doing. I want to watch a full football game.

(46:27):
I want to see defense and offense. I'm not just
trying to see when somebody's in the red zone to score.
That's not football. Their plays made all kinds of other things.
So I'd just like to watch those games. And then
what I do, Like, so if I watch on a Sunday, uh,
three games, right, because I might watch an early game,
watch the afternoon game, and then a Sunday night okay

(46:47):
or something like that. So I watched three full games,
and then the other ones I watch on ESPN dot
com or one of these other NFL dot com and
they'll have synopsis of the game video not just the
school or plays, but big plays in the game. And
then you watch another ten or twelve minutes of the game,
and I get a real feel for it, Chris. I

(47:07):
could read the story, I could go through the box scores,
and I really feel like, Okay, I know what happened
in that game, and I saw it, and that's usually
how I do it to do my research, I don't
just you know, flip around eight games and I feel
like I watched one full one at all. I watched
the bits and pieces of a lot, but I never
watched the full game. I do like to watch games

(47:29):
in their entirety, so I get where you're coming from.
I kind of do both, you know, but back and forth.
But but I think that's a big reason why fans
are staying away, because as great as the experiences at
the ballpark or at the field, the stadium, if you
need to pay attention. And a lot of people are
in seven leagues, eight leagues, twelve leagues. I don't know

(47:51):
how in the world they do it. How many leagues
are you on? None? I haven't played fantasy football since
nineteen ninety four? Are you ready? And I play one year?
That was it? Never play. I get it. And people
have asked me to be in their league forever. And
it's not no disrespect to it or I don't respect it.
It's not that was so busy, Chris, I just I'm serious.
And then they're like, well, it would be good for

(48:11):
you because you know, then you can keep up with
the players are like that's my job. I do keep
up with what's going on. I don't need fantasy football
for me to enjoy football or for me to follow football.
I already follow football. Well, it also made the one
year I did it. I granted, when I was doing it,
you kept stats by hand. Where were you? I was

(48:32):
a high school reporter. Okay, I was working for the
Cleveland Playing Dealer, but working in the Akron, Ohio area.
Lebron James was a little tight back then. But anyway, Um,
it made for strange rooting interests, you know. I remember
it was like, you're not pulling for a particular team.

(48:52):
You're just caring about what your player does, you know
what I mean? You didn't care somebody that you yeah,
right right, So it was odd. I didn't really like
that because I like to watch a game, and you
like it for the team right on the team. You
want to see when it's like, oh, okay, my team lost,
but I'm okay, I just got twenty points. I'm like
what right, yeah, yeah, yeah, my running back and I

(49:14):
got this team's defense, and I'd be like really yeah,
But my thing is this rob I wonder if this
trend is going to continue because again, the NFL is
more popular than everything, dominates all the TV and radio
shot talk show. And here's the other part. Two tickets
are expensive. It's not like the one thing about and
you know, the NBA tickets are expensive because it's not

(49:35):
that many games. NFL is not that many Baseball you
can get a twenty dollars ticket and you could take
your family at ain't the end of the world. You
don't have to buy one hundred dollars ticket even though
they are available. But I think NFL tickets are expensive
to Chris, and I think that stops people going I'm
gonna pay one hundred and seventy five dollars for a
ticket twenty dollars to park A friend who said he

(49:59):
went to a game. I won't name him, and unless
he wants me to name me, give him a little
love hub. Is that Gavin? I'm sorry, Gavin, tell us
about your recent experience. What'd you Gavin? What did you
do a preseason game? Preseason? Now you need to be
flogged for going to a prese and you paid money
Wait till it is. Wait, we didn't even get in

(50:20):
the stadium when we spent one hundred dollars on parking
one hundred dollars to parks preseason games, and my girlfriend
had a broken foot so we couldn't walk a mile
or whatever it was to go to the free parking
lot that was miles away. So yeah, one hundred dollars
for the parking at Chargers Park, stub Hub, dignity whatever.
You know what I would have done. I would have

(50:41):
drove my girlfriend as close to the stadium as possible,
dropped her off, drove to the free lot. I'll have
our take it. We could take an Uber back to
the car after the game, or you wait here, baby,
I'll go get the car. You know what, I've almost
had to sign up for Uber to pay for that, well,
one hundred dollars to pay for Unbull But think about that,

(51:01):
and if I can sit at home watch the game
on my fifty inch telling to the bathroom whenever you want, Hey,
I mean seriously, like, I get it, And again, I
don't want to see it. I want to see fifty
sixty seventy eighty thousand people in the stands packed. But

(51:22):
I don't know is this the wave of the future.
Is this a sign of the future. Taberation, that's what
we want to throw out to you eight seven, seven
ninety nine on Fox eight seven seven nine nine six
sixty three sixty nine, NFL attended to the fifteen year
low this year. Is this a sign of the times

(51:42):
and the future? Do you still go to games? Do
you not want to go? What is the reason? All Right,
you're turned away? In eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox,
We'll continue the conversation with you. Next is The Odd
Couple of Fox Sports Radio. Be sure to catch live
editions of The Odd Couple with Chris Brussar then Rob
Parker days at seven pm Eastern four pm Pacific on

(52:03):
Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio I You're tuned into
The Eye Couple on the Funky Flashback Friday. We brought
to you by auto Zone. Auto Zone has the free
services you need to help you get back on the road.
Like their free AutoZone fixed finder service over fifty six
hundred locations nationally, auto Zone is here to help you
save money and time with their free services. They get

(52:25):
the job done and they make it easy for you.
Restrictions apply getting the zone. Auto Zone all right, we
threw it out to you. NFL's attendance in a fifteen
year low. Is this a sign of what's to come?
Do you prefer sitting in front of your television in
your man cave watching all the games? Or do you

(52:45):
still want to go to the stadium? A seven seven
ninety nine on foxles here what you got to say?
Jonathan and Orlando, welcome to the I couple you own
with Christ and Rob? How you guys? How you guys
doing Christ and Rob? How you I'm doing good? I'll
want to talk about I think this is a sign
for the future because you got you gotta realize technologies

(53:09):
out so people rather be at home looking for you
know that fantasy football than be out than being over
there watching the game in person. See me, I like
watching I like watching the games at home. I flip
the channels to see which games do I like? Then
I'll just watch it. If not, then I'll just flip

(53:29):
to another game. Yeah but Jonathan, But Jonathan, have you
ever been to an NFL game? Yes? And you don't.
I mean there is something I'm not saying. You have
to get season tickets? Do you like the the atmosphere?
Like to me? I as a kid, I used to
go to games all the time because they weren't always
on television. But I'm just saying there's a different between
watching a game on television and going no. So I

(53:55):
so I've been to an NFL game, been to the stadium,
the atmosphere is great, but I'd rather be at home. Okay,
you feel like you missed If you're involved in fantasy football,
you're definitely gonna be feeling like you missed out. Now,
you and I are old school. I can go to
one game and really enjoy and just all being engaged
in that game, not worrying about the other games. Right,

(54:18):
But a lot of people now they're so caught up
on what else is going on. Let's see Kevin in
New York. You're on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio.
What's up, keV? Hey, how are you doing? Guys? What's up? So?
I think a lot of people just don't have time.
And going to the game isn't just the length of
the game, it's you're spending a whole day and they

(54:40):
don't have truth for it. They got a lot of
stuff going on. And then you finish the game and
you go home and you look at your wallet and
you're like, man, I just worked all week and it
spent most of it just to go to that game. No,
I get it, very good points. The financial part, Kevin
is real. I'm not even poo pooling to go with
other people. You take kids, and if you take your family,
you like. There was a guy a matter of fact

(55:02):
earlier today on AM five seventy was talking about similar Chris,
and he said he could He had a family of four.
He said he and he only could take his son
to the Laker game. He wanted to see Lebron up
close or whatever. He paid three hundred dollars for tickets
and he just said, he said, I could not take
the rest of the family. It was really it was
his birthday present. It was really what he wanted. And

(55:23):
I think a lot of people on that spot thanks
for the call. He also made a great point about
the time, because it's at least an hour each way,
even if it's not that far. But this is just
by the time you parked, by the time you walk
into the stadium, and then you get in three hours.
They gotta screen you, now right. It takes a long
talking about a five six hour day just to go

(55:46):
watch the ball game. And it's your day off, you know,
Saturday and Sunday for most people. Let's go to Marty
in Kentucky. Marty, what's happening, brother? Are you? I'm good,
I'm really interested in this subject. I maybe fantasy guy,
and I'm you know, I'm a huge Steelers fan and
I'm in the middle of and my suggesting to people

(56:08):
that love to play fantasy football and love the hole
strategic part of it and keeping up with the games.
I'm gonna say this, every week, I'm watching every game,
I'm paying attention to things, I'm checking numbers, I'm trying
to get the best team available out there because I
got a really tough league I play in. But nothing
compares to a live game. Going to an especially another

(56:30):
team's stadium and a black and yellow invasion and having
people scream at you and cuss at you the whole
way out and just it is the most amazing thing
I've ever experienced in sports, is a live in hell game.
How often do you do that anymore? Though? Now that
you're all into fantasy, I mean I have four kids
right now living at the house, and you know, and

(56:53):
a wife, so my going two games has slowed down massively.
But but Marty, we agree with you on both, Marty,
how far are you like a game experience? You could
go to Cincinnati. I guess I was gonna say, where
do you go to a game? Marty? Do you go
up to Cincinnati? I've been to Cincinnati and I've been
stuck in the middle of the season ticket area and

(57:16):
just been towed out. Then there's no I'm surprised you
made it out. I know why. I know he was.
It ended on an Andy Dalton interception and Stellers stilled
it and I swear I was running out there. The
guy with me was one of my best frings. He
was a Basings fans and he was kind of just like,
don't get him. You would take that take that jersey
off on the way out of your team wins, I

(57:37):
tell you that. Last quick question, Marty, so do you
think this is a wave of the future that more
people are gonna be like, you know what, I'd rather
watch at home. I hope not, because even though you're
a big into fantasy, the whole part of fantasy is strategy,
and you do that before the games. You don't really
have to watch them. It doesn't change the outcome. There's

(57:58):
nothing like being in live games. You love face you
should still go to one live game. There you go,
all right, Marty, appreciate it. What about Big Jay in Arizona?
You're on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. How
are you doing, good fellas? How are you doing tonight?
Are you? I'm good? Hey, this is near and dear
to my heart because I got more children than Jesus
should have. How many you wife? How many? I got

(58:21):
eight of them? Well, hey, big Jay, you know there's
a movie. There's a movie theater you could go to
once in a while. I bought a TV. I bought okay, alright,
good one. So the issue is twofold. It's first of all,
the money. If I'm gonna take Mama and all the
babies and now we got some grandkids to the game,

(58:42):
I must spend about two thousand dollars to see the
Cardinals whip up on anybody that comes to town. Well,
first of all, exactly exactly, don't don't no need to
rub it in you too. But the other side of
this coin is the Shenanigans that have gone down in
the league over the last several years. We got dudes

(59:03):
showing up making twenty million dollars a year, but they
can't show up with don't don't come without a hot
air balloon, burning their feet on the bottom of a
cryout chamber, jumping out of here. People are sick of it.
The last live game I went to all everybody talked
about with Shenanigans. Did you hear this? Did you see that?
I think the quality of the game live is better

(59:24):
than anything. I agree, you can't beat it, even better
than a seventy television at home all day, every day.
But the money that you're gonna pay to watch some
of these just grown baby men run around, you realize
it's better spent spending three hundred dollars a year to
have the direct TV package so you can watch everything

(59:46):
at the house. Yeah, big Jay, Thanks appreciate the call.
I want to go to Marshall. Marshall in Minnesota. You'all
with Chris and Rob. Hey, guys for sent when I
say I love the show. You guys are pretty awesome.
Thank you. We appreciate that. Minnesota. We do press the time.
I'm not sure about the love for the Vikings this week,
but you know, well, we'll try to fight. You know what, Marshall,

(01:00:09):
I've heard a lot of people think the Viking. I'm
not peaking them. No, sorry, Marshall, it's all right, I
got no chance. I don't think I'm a HUOT Minnesota fan,
and I'll probably pick the Saints too. Anyways, I just
wanted to say that, you know, I kind of agree
with everyone else, but mostly they're saying obviously, I mean,

(01:00:29):
I'm a I'm a postman. I'm not making tons of money,
so it's like I just don't got the money. I
don't have the money to go right, and you know,
it's it's hard. But and the thing is, as far
as it being a trend, I do think you'll be
more of a trend until they decide to make take
us cheaper. And that's just too hard with how much
they're they're paying the players these days. No, that's a
good point. Yeah, there's all that money out there, but

(01:00:50):
who knows. Sometimes if the if the market bottoms out, Chris,
they might have to readjust because they are making the
TV money, and they still might want to say, man,
you know, we got a nice product, we got TV
money coming in, but look at the stands are empty,
you know what I mean? One thing I've heard rob
a lot and you went to a lot of games
there is. How great it is a stub Hub when

(01:01:10):
the Chargers play, just going on thirty thousand people, the atmosphere,
every every seat. It's a good see, right, So maybe
you eat. I mean I'm talking we're talking twenty years
from fifteen years from now, but maybe that could become
the North We gotta we may take a few more
at another break. We got eat from Salim coming up.
So if you're on the line. A lot of people

(01:01:32):
went the way in, stay locked in. We'll get to
you uh in a little while. But coming up next,
we'll speak with our man, the thirteen year NFL veteran,
about Wild Car Weekend. But first, Fox Sports Radio has

out which way is easier. We love our next guests.
He's a thirteen year NFL veteran. You can hear him
right here on Fox Sports Radios every Sunday five to

(01:02:17):
a pm Eastern Time with Dan Bayer. And the thing
I love most about I from Salim Rob come to job.
No matter how much we beat up on him, he
still comes back when the hot seat, he still comes back.
So I appreciate that. Yes, brother, how those bruises you
healed up from the last time you're on the hot seat. Yeah,

(01:02:40):
well we all know that. That's man. You can't in
the middle of your career start lying from Happy New
Year to the family. Man. You too, Man, You're too
all right. Look I am We're gonna make our picks
in about an hour. Rod. But let's ask him quick

(01:03:00):
about the attendance thing. Since we just were talking about
the real quick the NFL attendance. You may have seen
the story hit a fifteen year low this year from
We're wondering is this a sign of the times, Because
you know, if I'm in the fantasy football which a
lot of fans are, I might rather stay at home
and watch you keep track of what's going on. Not

(01:03:23):
to mention the other things the price to food at
home and are walking rather than go into a game.
What are your thoughts on this? Is this a trend
something to be worried about for the NFL or not?
What technology dictates all of that? Right? The ability to
watch every single game, every single game at home, not
just your team, means a lot, all right. So if

(01:03:46):
I'm like for me, every Sunday, I watched every game,
all right, I get my own couch. They made it
so convenient, right, unless you're a die hard guy who
wants to paint their and do all that. And of
course casual fans get to go to the game too,
But like you said, it's expensive, so why not enjoy

(01:04:06):
it at home? Got your own foods, you don't have
to worry about parking. But I say this, even though
attendance dip down low, that revenue is not dipping. I
can tell you that I don't know television page for everything,
but it's just, uh, you know, for me from and
I hear all that, I understand it totally. But I'm
one of those old school guys. I love going to

(01:04:26):
a game and a crowd in the atmosphere that you
can't get through television, you right, But you know, if
you got to go to the game, especially on your salary, Rob,
you can't you can't even afford to take anybody game
with you know, you get one hot dog, one shoulder

(01:04:47):
ticket and that's all you got. So how many times
a year are you gonna do that? A poster in
biting everybody over get the nachos. You know, it's just
more economical, no doubt about it. All. Let's turn to
the wild card week. Can it's just gonna be Tom
Brady's last game. I mean, it could be the last
game at Foxboro this year. But where are you You
know you've heard the rumors. You're here to talk. Hey,

(01:05:10):
they could lose to the Titans, first of all. If not,
they could lose the next week with the team they have.
And then there's all this talk that he's mad at
the Patriots, mad at Bill Belichick and could wind up
with the Chargers. What are you thinking, Well, I don't
know if you wind up with the Charger charges, but
there is some discourse there. We know Tom Brady's this
year has been more vocal about his disappointment in the

(01:05:32):
organization than ever before. So basically what we're seeing and look,
I picked the Titans to actually beat New England, Did
you all right when you look at at Mike Rabel
and them head to head against Belichick and for whatever reason,
they just have their number. But on top of that,
without the limitations of Marcus Mariota, I mean, I hate

(01:05:58):
to say, but Ryan Tannehill, whoa, he's been bawling this game.
He's playing for the rest of his career. Do you
see on top of that with the running game? Come on? Now? Yeah,
I've been thinking the same way. I told Rob on
Monday that man, I might pick the Titans. It's just
what But I keep hearing everybody saying I thought it myself.

(01:06:20):
They're in Foxborough, it's the page. How much is that
going to matter? Apparently you don't think very much. Yeah,
I don't think very especially not this year. The fact
that without you know what I was the mismatch they
have at the running back position in terms of getting
those backs are not running the ball but getting them

(01:06:41):
out in space. Right, if you take away that, what
you can with the safety and if you double Edelman,
where else is he going with the ball. We've seen
the frustrations this year, and you don't think Mike Rabel
can come up with a game planning to take those
players the way he came from the system. We'll see.
I I okay, let's say they lose, whether it's this

(01:07:02):
week or next week or whatever. I'm of the contention
he from that rather than let Brady go, and even
from his side, rather than go somewhere else, if they
would just upgrade the skilled positions, I don't think he
can carry the mediocre skilled players like he has most
of his career, not entirely, but most of it. And
if they just get some top flight skilled positions, some receivers,

(01:07:25):
I think you can win with Brady. Still, they still
won twelve games. What do you think about that? Or
you think they just need to get rid of him
because he's Brady's unhappy. Yeah, but if he's not happy
because they don't give him, they don't give him anybody
to throw to. But that's my point. At forty two,
he can't carry these guys like he used to. That's

(01:07:49):
you're absolutely right. But that doesn't mean they're gonna go
out and spend a bunch of money in free agency
and do all these things to grab these pieces to
put around them. They have their their mind that on
the things that they want to do and for freightless.
I tell you this, I'm not I'm not talking about
the Chargers. But think about this. If Tom Brady were
to go to the Indianapolis coach, think about what that

(01:08:14):
offensive line, that young stud offensive line right, that defense,
those weapons on the outside, think about that. What that
would look like for Tom Brady next year? I gotta
beyond that would look good. I think the Chargers would
look good too. You don't seem if you don't like
Allen you got some running backs and then they got
a pretty good defense too. You don't don't see the

(01:08:35):
Chargers in the mix or no. Yeah, But what I'm
saying is the ownership is loyal of the Chargers is
loyal to So you think they're gonna bring back on
what he wants to do. I think if Philip wants
to come back another year, what he does, I think
they'll appease him and let him come back new stadium.
How about that Seattle Eagles game? Where are you on that?

(01:08:59):
A lot of people are picking the Eagles too. Uh,
they're beat up, they're battered. Uh, we saw wins in
a lifetime. You know, carry that team through. Uh? I
from win the last four games beat Dallas in a
big spot. But can they beat Seattle. I know seattles
uh banged up at the running back position. Brought back

(01:09:20):
some old timers to try to help him out. Can
they Can they win that game on the road or not? No,
I don't. I don't think so. Um. I think the
fact that you know, I would lean heavily on Russell
Wilson right with Russell Wilson to me in this type
of situation against the team that has underperformed him bad
least week by all year, all that they don't have

(01:09:42):
any running backs although they're they're missing Dwayne Brown at
left tackle, which is the biggest reason why they've been
struggling the last few weeks because they don't have that
assurance up front on the offensive line. I think Russell
Wilson does enough in that type of game to beat
U the Philadelphia Eagles. Okay, all right, let's quickly. Let's

(01:10:03):
get your picks on the other games. Buffalo Houston. Who
you got that's another interesting games? Right? Yeah? I love
Buffalo defense, but their ineftability at quarterbacks. It's just that
it's just I can't. I can't. I can't go with
Josh Allen I can't. I'm sorry. All right, what about

(01:10:24):
this one? I think I know what you're gonna say. Uma,
Minnesota at New Orleans. Don't don't be guessing. He from
might have something for you, man, New Orleans Sean Payton,
Drew Breeds coming off the travestya that they had last year,
I think they're locked in and they're gonna be danger
throughout the playoffs. I think they're the best team in

(01:10:46):
the NFC. It's funny because a lot of people have
a lot of good teams. I know Kirk Cousins hasn't
won a big game and that's his buggaboo, but a
lot of people are picking Minnesota in an upset. I've
seen that all around from a lot of guys. But
from let me hit you with this. Robin. I talked
about this earlier in the week. Did you have you
been following the NFL's one hundred top players. Yeah, okay,

(01:11:08):
so we talked about the quarterbacks ten quarterbacks. Robin, I
felt like the two on the list, the replacements we
would have they have Brett Farve and Dan Marino. We
would have we would put Aaron Rodgers over Brett Farve
and Drew Brees over Dan Marino. What that I would
have put Drew Brees in there. Not sold on Aaron

(01:11:29):
Rodgers yet. And I know Aaron Rodgers just the greatest
thrower of the football according to some people, yes, but
far better man so so many, so many times, Brett Farve,
I mean, excuse me, M. Aaron Rodgers has blamed everyone
else or I don't have weapons, I don't have this,
but yet the other elite quarterbacks. I mean, for a

(01:11:49):
large part of his career, Drew Brees made a seventh
round draft pick, the star receiver of the league. But
he also but he from he also had three years
in a row, when it five, when it was seven
and nine. And here's the other thing with Brett Farve,
Bret Farr as the most interceptions. How many playoff games
ended where Bret Farr threw across his body across the

(01:12:12):
field and wound up getting a pick his last playoff
game with UM Minnesota, That's how the game ended. He
threw a lot of bad picks. Yeah, but but but
but I also his money thing. And you can say
whatever you want. Aaron Rodgers did win two MVPs, he

(01:12:32):
did win a Super Bowl, and he has the best
quarterback rating of any quarterback in the history of the
NFL and the best touchdown the interception ratio of any
quarterback in the NFL. I think that's better than I
think that's That's interesting because we asked Roy Woodson the
same thing and he said the same thing as you.
He went with Marino over Breeze, right. He did go

(01:12:52):
with FARV over Aaron Rodgers, which I thought that Aaron
is better than far for a long time. Now it
seems like a lot of guys that played the game disagree.
And it's all about the likability factor too. Let's not
forget that Aaron's they are problems. Guys have left there
and be like, you know, the coachers have left there.

(01:13:13):
Aaron rodgers own family won't even mess with them, so
you know, yeah, but I can't. I can't. I can't
mix that into the football. I mean this personality. What
type of guy are you in the locker room? Who's
willing to go to bad and fight for you? Well,
I don't know. They sure did when they went on
the road and won a Super Bowl with you know,
Rob likes Aaron Rodgers dirty draws. No, I don't like

(01:13:36):
nobody's dirty draws some great stuff. Man, happy knew your
brother your two brothers. Love you guys, man, Yeah we
should piece. The NFL's attendance is down, and we want
to hear your thoughts and it keep it locked right
here as you're turning the way in a couple of
Fox Sports Radio. Be sure to catch live editions of
The Odd Couple with Chris Bruss and Rob Parker weekdays

(01:13:58):
at seven pm Eastern four'm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio
and the iHeart Radio app. A lot of people want
to weigh in. What do you think about the NFL attendance?
Why are you not going to game aberration? Let's go
to Keto in La Keto. You're on with the Eye
Couple Ketoo Diet. I guess he's keo O Shane in Oregon,

(01:14:23):
you know, with Chris and Rob, Rob, Chris and Shane.
How are you? We're good? What's up? Hey? First time caller.
I listen to you guys all the time. I appreciate
Thank you, man, we appreciate thank you. Hey. Listen, I've
been listening to this honestly, I was, I was. I
was sort of inspired to call in when I heard
that you guys aren't playing in fantasy football or participating.

(01:14:46):
But we can come back to that. I think there's
a whole bunch of people that I'm from Oregon obviously,
I've been I've been a Dallas Cowboy fan since I
was a kid. I don't have the option of going
to a Dallas Cowboy game, and so I think there's
just a lot of people out there they don't really
have the option of just going to a game on
a weekend. I'm not discounting the fact that it could

(01:15:08):
be expensive, that that things are better in your living room,
and that kind of stuff, but a lot of the
NFL experience today, uh is about fans all over the
country who are fans of one team or another that
just don't have the option of going. Here's the only thing, though,
I hear you. But the only thing is that's always
been the case, right, You've always had fans in place,

(01:15:30):
you know in Iowa they just liked the Bears or
but they can't get there, right, They're not going to
games that wouldn't explain the drop. Let's go to Andrew
and Louisiana. Andrew, Hey, Rob, Hey, Chris, how you doing
the first time caller? Thank you um attendance. I'm from Louisiana.

(01:15:50):
I've been a Diver Broncos family whole life, and I've
been to Tiger Stadium of been to Male High. But
i just want to give a huge shout out to
Arthur Blank and the Falcons. We went to the Peach
Bowl last weekend and just the concession prices make everything
so much better. You know what, Andrew, he did a
great job. Chris, you get refills the soft drinks to
two dollars, unlimited refills, are right, Andrew? You get two

(01:16:14):
dollars unlimited refills, hot dogs for less than two dollars,
burgers for five dollars. Yes, that'll make you want to go.
And you know what, and they make it maybe more
money with their concessions because people instead of people going,
I'm not buying a nine dollars hot dog, you know
what I mean? I agree Eddie Orlando, you got quickly
about thirty seconds, yes, sir, can you mean guys? Yeah?

(01:16:35):
I do think technology has a roll. I do think
ticket prices have a roll. And also I think the
casual fan, that fifty fifty fan in markets that teams
have been the product on the field's not good in
some cities Cleveland, Cincinnati, Miami, Tampa. Do you really want
to go spend your heart earn money on a team
that is two and fourteen every year. I think the

(01:16:55):
casual fan is where the NFL needs to get a
figured out. Why that cash fam I'll be walking away
because the team stinks and for too much money. Good
call ye? All right? All right, as we said, uh,
that's interesting. It'll be addressing to see how this plays
out rob over the next few years. But I love
what Arthur Blake did dropping the prices. It may say

(01:17:17):
it made me want to get something now, I mean seriously,
like because I go to games, I'm like, man, I'm
not each think about you buy. You know, like a
soda could be nine dollars or someplace and Chris two
dollars unlimited. We film. That's good. I know you like that,
you know I couple. Fox Sports Radio we got an

Mitchell for all of you betters out there. You're gonna
be betting on a wild card weekend, the MGM Grand
Race and sports book director Lamar Mitchell will join us
in about twenty eight minutes, so you definitely want to
stay locked in for that, but we're gonna stick with
the NFL. Obviously, big wild card weekend coming up, but

(01:18:23):
the big news all week has been the soap opera
in Dallas. And isn't that amazing? They're done, you're not playing,
and you still are dominating the airways. Well, because nobody
else saw is intending to fire a coach put holes
on to him five six a week after the season's over.

(01:18:46):
It just doesn't make any sense. And then to try
to act like you're trying to soften the blow, Chris,
if they don't renew your contract, guess what you're done.
You've been fired. You can call it whatever you want.
You've been fired. I'm with you, right, like, Look, there's
all the reports are that they're doing that. How to

(01:19:07):
respect and this is about the love, and you know what,
I'm gonna be honest. I get that, and I think
that's nice. However, it's gotten to a point where now
I think it's gone from a show of respect to
the appearance. They don't mean it this way, but now

(01:19:27):
it's I think it's starting to embarrass Jason Garrett. Not him,
he's him. I don't say he's embarrassed, but from us
looking at him now, it's making him look like a
pitiful figure. He's made of china. Oh, he's gonna fall
apart if he gets fired. That. Here's the worst thing.
Ginger hair is gonna turn gray. Here's the worst thing.

(01:19:52):
All these leaks are coming out that he's done that.
All this doesn't mean he's staying. Don't don't, don't get
it twisted. He still going to be fired. They're still
gonna get a new coach. If the leagues weren't there,
then I'd be like, Okay, this is all right, But
you're keeping him on, you're letting him dangle and twisting

(01:20:14):
the wind. And we all know because of the leagues
that he's done. Now it's looking embarrassing. It's like the
girl who's dating the guy and she's still they're still
technically going together, but everybody knows she's seeing other guys.
Here's the other part two that is in the realm

(01:20:34):
about this guy's future. Christ if he doesn't have a
spot in their front office or job, the longer they
hold on to him too and not let him know
he's missing out on the job openings if he did
want to go interview, you know what I'm saying. But
but but there's other jobs out there. The giants might
not wait another week. Somebody might come along. Giant's job

(01:20:54):
is gone. Brown's job is gone. I'm just saying. And
then they released him on January fourteen, and they've already
interviewed all these people and they're like, well, you know,
you kind of late to the party, and we already
got a guy. I agree. I agree. So that to
how you helping him, you're not. He's a big boy.
He's a big boy. I mean, honestly, it's got to

(01:21:16):
a point where now, Rob, unless you keep him in
some capacity and organization, some major capacity, then you've done him.
A disservice. At this point, I'm one with you. Make
everybody look silly, make all the people, the reporters, everybody
that's sad. He's done. You gotta now make him look

(01:21:37):
silly and keep him or something because he's looking bad.
I just I don't even think Jerry can do that,
just with the way no, and with the way that
the year went by. Remember he hasn't made the playoffs
seven out of ten years. Chris. People were talking about
when they signed Zekiel Elliott before the season started, right, Oh,
the Cowboys a super Bowl? Right, Sadly I tell you

(01:21:59):
from Warlands to Dallas, because you thought, okay, Mike, they
got that guy. You know, they got everything together and
you were looking good in the beginning there with three
and old four and one right should have won the division.
Everything kind of fell apart when they got into a
toughest part of the schedule. And now you're looking, go,
what are you doing? Like you should be turning the

(01:22:19):
page and moving forward, going on to the next thing. Yeah,
it just it again. It's starting to make Garrett look pitiful.
It really is. And I get I like I said it.
You you kind of went on for me, But I
appreciated the human element initially. I think I said on Tuesday, like, Okay, no,

(01:22:43):
he's still out though, Right, that's the problem. And where
are these leaks coming. They're coming from within the organization.
They're coming from people that talked to Jerry Jones. I
doubt they're coming from him, I doubt. But maybe they
are even coming from Garrett. Jerry No, Jerry, yeah, none,
It could be, but that would be even worse if

(01:23:03):
he's if he's whispering the reporters on the side, off
the record, Hey, he's gone trying to respect. No, you're
not showing If you want to show him respect, make
sure nobody says a word about Jason Garrett. The best
way to do that is you aren't telling people right,
and to just make this thing as swift and easy

(01:23:25):
and smooth, and this is not the way to do it.
By hanging onto a guy who cares krypt Chris if
his contract ends on January fourteenth, Really, what are you
accomplishing by doing that and then saying, well, you know
it's contract. Everybody knows he was fired. Yes, letting it expire.
It's the same same exact deal. Come on, yeah, I

(01:23:49):
you know it's just it's just baffling. And on the
one hand, you can appreciate Jerry's you know, the loyalty
to love whatever, but this is a business. He didn't
get wealthy by playing it soft, No, not at all.
He ruled with an iron fish. You gotta make freaking
Tom Landry came in, man, you want to you remember that,

(01:24:10):
Chris the the news. It was shocked, disrespectful. It was
like disrespectful, right right, And it was like, dude, pack
your stuff and get out Tom Landry. For those young bucks,
he was a legend, is a legend. And Super Bowls
and that was it. And they threw Tom Landry out
and then everybody like was wishing ill will for Jerry

(01:24:33):
and Jimmy Johnson, you know what I mean, the whole
thing when it got started, and then all of a
sudden they started winning. They became a dynasty. They won
three out of four and nobody mentioned Tom Landry again,
right right. And you hear a lot of people now
saying robbed it. Look Troy Aigman said it. Now. I
don't know if it's today or yesterday, but Jerry won.

(01:24:54):
There's a formula Jerry has to win and it's to
go and get a great college coach and let him coach.
But but you said the big problem. You're right because
he did that with Jimmy Johnson, and Jimmy won two
of those three titles. Barry Switcher took his team right

(01:25:15):
with Jimmy's people right and won the third one. But
but Chris, I'm just not convinced that this late in
the game. Jerry Jones, who's already in the Hall of Fame,
already has three championships. He could he could point his
finger at other owners who haven't even sniffed it. But
the bottom line is he wants to win his way.

(01:25:39):
He wants to be able to say I put it together.
I'm the GM. Everything comes through my desk and I
and I did this. I put it together. I did
it my way. That's what he wants to cap off
his career right because he got he got he already.
He's like that, that doesn't give me a thrill. I
got three that way. I want it my way. But

(01:26:00):
here's what Jerry has to understand. I've been saying it
all week. You'll get credit, even if it's just you
hired the right people. Step us get credit, right, Robert
Kraft gets credit, Peter Holt and San Antonio gets credit.
I thought Robert Kraft paid for that, you know what's

(01:26:22):
going credit? Look at you. You're still dying to see
that tape, aren't you? Aren't you? What if the tape
came out? I would watch it. You will watch it, yes,
because don't tell me you wouldn't watch I would watch it.
I do not believe you. It's just a part of
your job. It's a part of your job to read
about it. Elijah, would you watch it? No? Dj Alex,

(01:26:45):
I've never had to pass something so hard on my life.
Robert Kevin, you wouldn't watch the Robert Kraft video. Not
at work? Not at work, okay, not at work, getting
trouble on the on this ip address. Come on, you
know you could say it was worth it's work with
its research, rob saying it's research. But you will watch,

(01:27:05):
Gavin apparently will watch it at home. That sounds that
sounds bad. That sounds that sounds even worse. Hand the
old people stopping you are you are? What are you?
You're going on the Golden Girls cruise? And what fifty
seven days? Even counting down at the countdown? Going is

(01:27:26):
it fifty seven. Swing that thing on the boat. You
could be selling copies of that. You no, no, hey,
going on the Golden Girls. Don't let the gray hand
Ford want to see Robert Craft doing whatever. I just
want to see it. I want to see how incriminating it.
And I don't care about the I'm not trying to
see anything. You can't. You probably can't see anything anyway.

(01:27:48):
Maybe there was a black light, right. I don't know, man,
I don't know. I don't know. They said, I'm uncomfortable.
They said even comfortable. He said it was only in
there for like five or ten minutes. It was a quick, quick,
I'm man of the people. I'm uncomfortable with this. Are
you versation? Man? I'm a little moist right now? All
right here it is you're turning away in Folks eight

(01:28:10):
seven seven ninety nine on Fox A seven seven nine
nine six sixty three sixty nine. What do you think
about how the cowboys are treating Jason Garrett? Do you
like it? Do you get all warm and fussy about it?
Do you think? Man, that's loyalty, that's love. I would
want if I was gonna be fired, That's how I

(01:28:30):
want it, would want it to be, or are you like, look, Jerry,
it's time. We all know he's getting fired. Do it already?
You're embarrassing the port chap Chris scotch Chapiro on the
other line, I don't even know what that means. You
would say if you were gonna get fired, that's how
you want to say? All right? Eight seven seven ninety

(01:28:51):
nine or fix eight seven seven nine nine six sixty
three sixty nine. You'll turned away. In Next, It's The
Eye Couple of Fox Sports Radio. I Need a Cold Showered.
Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple
with Chris Brussar then Rob Parker weekdays at seven pm
Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the
iHeartRadio app. It's The I Couple, Christ and Rob. Funky

(01:29:13):
Flashback Friday, DJ Alex Tyser Digging in the crates. You
know those doritos? Think do they? I was just eating
some nacho cheese doritos. I mean I know they taste good,
but I mean you could smell them in the room,
can't you. Right. Elijah's like, no, what are you trying
to say? Why? I know my breath isn't bad. I
just say your breath, I said, doritos. I'm just saying, kids,

(01:29:36):
you smell them in the room. That's are you up
in here eating your buffalo wild wings chips? That were
good too. I was starving. We can smell it through
the glass, guys, the window, all right, or Fox, let's
get you guys. Let's talking to Mike in North Carolina.
How do you like the way the Cowboys are treating

(01:29:57):
Jason Garrit Mike? What's up? Actually northern California? But that's okay, okay,
And they say, okay, hey, uh, good song. I'm on
the first one. And fire too, by the way, to
bring it in. I think that Jerry is actually doing
this to spite him, really, because yes, because you think

(01:30:18):
about it, he's got fifteen Pro bowlers on that team
and they go eight and eight. I think he's sitting
there so mad. Him and Steve are sitting up in
the in their box, just going I can't believe that
we gave him all these tools and he could win us.
He couldn't even get us to the playoffs. So he's
just sitting there holding him over the fire and gonna

(01:30:40):
just met let him miss out on every opportunity that
you said earlier road that he's just gonna miss on
every opportunity right now for a coaching gig. That's the
take we haven't heard. And you know what, Mike, the
longer they make him, you know, being limbo instead of
just letting the guy be released, they do hurt his
chances of getting another job. I told you you sitting
there with his tape that that Jerry is doing this

(01:31:01):
is spiding. I thought Jerry had so much love for him.
I'm not positive that that's the that what he's doing,
but he is doing it. By what I'm saying, it
is right. Thanks for the calling, Mike. Andy in California,
you're on the eye couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up? Guy?
Who's up? Rob Harker? Chris? You big fan? Even though

(01:31:23):
Rob was always hating on my Lakers. I'm say Andy,
I gotta keep it real. You want Chris to just
blow smoke up up your ball, I'm gonna say something.
Lakers ready to get their act together? What? Oh? I'm serious?
They better when they played the Clippers. Okay, Dust Phoenix
and they played the Clippers, the better show up or
brother gonna change his pick? Oh? Go ahead, Andy, go ahead?

(01:31:46):
Did we lost and we were trying to talk to
you and Dexter in Oregon, Dexter Young with the Eye Couple. Hey, rop,
I got your back. Brother. You know I waited all
week to get through to you. Want to thank you.
I'm a I'm a divorce single dad. I was a
pac ten chaption wrestler at Org State, and you got

(01:32:08):
me through these holidays. Brother, You've got me through them
because you've been on so much working and I cannot
believe that all this is on the Cowboys so much?
Why are they doing it? They say? Jerry Jones says, well,
he's gonna be coaching somewhere next year. I guarantee you
that earlier, a couple months ago. Guarantee Why is he

(01:32:33):
doing this? Why is he holding on to him instead
of letting him go to get another job? These jobs
are gonna get filled. And why is this going on?
Because I've been a RAMS fan. I'm sixty years old,
I've been a RAMS fan. I hate the Cowboys, But
why is he doing this? He's you know, there's no
rhyme or reason for what he's doing. Not a Dexter,

(01:32:56):
not at all, Mike, And you think he's doing this
despite Garrett, I don't. I just think that what he's
doing is he's I think you, you and Gottlip got
it right. He's doing it so that he can get
this publicity when you got all the stuff that's going on,

(01:33:16):
even back when Romo got replaced with Dak and the Posinana.
He's doing this for publicity, and he's keeping attention off
the Tom Brady thing and everything else. He's hogging the show. Unbelieving. Hey, Dexter, again,
thank you for listening doing the holidays man. I appreciate
the kind words. Man, thanks for being an Odd Couple fan.

(01:33:37):
One more thing, can I say it, Dexter, Rob is crying, yes,
go ahead. It was the red Skins and that John
Elway blow out when they scored ten points. Doug Williams
went off in the second quarter and got forty points,
set a record and got MVP when we were talking
about the ten grades quarterbacks and it was Doug Williams

(01:33:59):
and the red Skins. Smoke John. I remember that. I
remember that. That's he put on a show in that
Super Bowl. Thanks so much, Dexter. Let's go to Derek
and Wisconsin. Derek Hill with the Odd Couple. Hey, guys,
Jerry Jones is taking a card from the President Donald
Trump and hogging the media for this entire week. Everybody's

(01:34:19):
in on at Jason Garrett knew the whole time. Everybody
who wants to hire Jason Garrett and knowls what's going on,
they'll be fine. So Jason, Jerry Jones got when he wanted,
no Mania for an owner to have his own radio
show and have a press convers after every game, right
before the coach talk. Come on, man, come on man,

(01:34:40):
let's do it. Uh, Andre in the Cape, you're on
the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Andre?
How you guys doing? Thanks for taking my call. Of course,
Jerry Jones is loyal to Jason fall guy Garrett because
he's the ultimate subordinate. He's the perfect lackey. Okay, has
none of the power, has none of the influence, happy
to take all the blame. So this Jerry's perfect coach.

(01:35:01):
Jerry Jones loved Jason Garrett. God forbid that he would
actually hire, you know, a coach that's going to let's say,
get your franchise into the playoffs, you know, possibly be
a super Bowl. Jerry's not interested in any of that.
It's clear. You know, Cowboys valuation going over eight billion,
he's on that two hundred and fifty million dollars yacht. Okay,
it has to be the Jerry Jones show. In conclusion, Chris,
you mentioned Jerry Jones can't get some of the credit.

(01:35:23):
That's that's out of the question. Got to be all
the credit for Jerry. Okay. And so if you're operating
under those, under those premises, and Jason Garrett is the
perfect individ so you think he's gonna keep Jason Garrett. No,
I think it hurts Jerry's part that he knows he's
gonna have to part. Yeah, you know with the ultimate lackey.
By the way, no self respecting NFL team. You want
to talk about bringing in Jason Garrett as a coach

(01:35:44):
for a fan base, it actually cares because Jason garretton
stand up for himself in Dallas. Out of the question.
I agree somewhere his people probably leaked the stuff about
the Giants now that yeah, weeks ago. But I'm telling you,
nobody's hiring Art. No, I can't see it, and he's
right about that. Andre. Thanks. How about Leon and South Carolina?

(01:36:04):
You're on the yard a couple of Fox Sports Radio
Chris rob Man, I love you guys, Man a rob Gee.
These guys are phenomenal, ridiculous, amazing time calling. Well, we
appreciate you so much. Thank you man. Listen, you guys
do a lot of it's rating. But Jerry Jones, Man,
Jerry Jones know he got to cut times with the coach. Man.

(01:36:26):
I mean, it's clear as not going to happen far
as success winning fit games, it's not gonna happened. Jerry
know what he got to do. But why is he waiting,
I know, to hold on to him? Man, It's just
not right. He's the the seasons for the Cowboys been
over for almost a week. I think I think he
knows what he has to do. He just doesn't want
to come out in public. He said. At this time,

(01:36:47):
everybody in the locker room knows to be able to
knows it. Um, the coach knows it. It's just they
can't come out and say yes, that's what we're going
to do. They can't come out of you that right now.
And can I can I know on one thing? Can
I know? Don't want thing? What's that? Listen, both of
you guys are palmed is it palmp? Prisoner of the
moment or prisoner of moments? Of the moment? Is it palm?

(01:37:11):
Or it is the pop prisoner of the moment, prison
of the moment. Listen, I'm a long down heart Tom
Brady fan. I'm tired of the trash talk. We've seen
it over and over. He's forty tween. Lee, I have
a bad few games, and now everybody so they're gonna
win the super Bowl. They win the Super Bowl? Is shit? Leon?

(01:37:31):
Will you be surprised if they do? No, that's not.
That's not when we asked you yes or no they're
gonna win the super Bowl. If I had a crystal
ball and I could yes or no, they gonna win
the super Bowl. We're winning. We're gonna win. We go
call up when they lose and sends ever guy's gonna

(01:37:52):
ask surprise, Patriots win. You gotta be surprised. No, you can't.
I was. I was not surprised last year. I was.
I wrote, you guys fall for this at some point. Yes,
That's why I'm not giving Rob any credit for when
they lose, because at some point it's inevitable saying it
for eight years. No, but to say that they wouldn't

(01:38:13):
make the championship. No, that's a big call. Get no credit.
That was before the reason you picked the Ravens. I
give you credit for that. Thank you. I did not
even give you credit for because you you didn't see
the Ravens would do all this, but the division? What
you picked? Cleveland City? You know you put you picked Cleveland,

(01:38:34):
you picked Pitch Little Run. Did they make the playoffs?
You know you were. Thank me, get to your super bow.
I'm time for that. We're gonna calls Rob from Oregon.
You're on with Chris and Rob. Hey, how's it calling guys?
What job? Thank you appreciate it. Hey, we're getting the
snapshot on the way the Cowboys do business. That's the

(01:38:54):
reason they're eight and eight. Jerry can't make a decision
and that's why the players played so last As a
basical this season, they can't even fire the coach right away.
That's a good point. That's a great point. Getting very shaky, right,
like like what's the organization right? Why are you? Why

(01:39:15):
are you? Everybody knows you should be can what is
the problem exactly? So if you call play you you
don't do it? And do it? Unfortunately, the guys think, Okay,
you can't make a decision through the team, right, called
your bluff, you're painting you talk to all that nonsense.

(01:39:36):
Remember Ezekiel who? Right, Ezekiel? Who is the guy you
get fifty million lost? You're getting called? I mean really,
it's true, Right, It's true, You're right all right. Up next,
we're going to check in with our guy, you know who.
He is, the big man in Las Vegas, Lamar Mitchell.
He's on next with his betting perspective on wild Card weekend.
But first, Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk

(01:39:59):
lineup in a nation. Catch all of our shows at
Foxsports Radio dot com and within the iHeart Radio app.
Search f SR to listen live. It's the Eye Couple
coming you live from the Geico Fox Sports Radio studios.
It's easy to say fifteen percent more on your car
shoots with Geico. Go to Geico dot com or call
eight hundred and nine four seven Auto. The only hard

(01:40:20):
part is figuring out which way is easier. He's our man,
one of the few with his own theme music. He
walks around Vegas like he owns it because he does.
I'm coming down now, I'm ready. Hey, Lamar's my birthday
next weekend. I'm coming to Vegas looking forward to seeing Rob. Yep,
he's the MGM Grand Race and sports book director. None

(01:40:43):
of it than our man, Lamar Mitchell. Hey, what's up
you guys doing today? Doing great? I can't wait to
celebrate my forty five. It's gonna be fun. Done for
the eleventh time. Do the math, all right, Lamar, Let's
start with game in Houston. The Bills benefited from one

(01:41:04):
of the easiest schedules in years. They only beat one
normally due Yes, I'll look at you. Look you see
you've been hanging with Robers. Yes, there you go. Man.
They only be one playoff team all season, and that
was the Titans with Marcus Mariota. I'm surprised the Titans
are only favored by three points. Is the betting public

(01:41:24):
all over Houston like we to sue? Uh? You know what?
It's it's pretty close both ways. I mean, the money's
a little bit over two to one on the Bills
and the ticket account is about almost the same, a
little bit one and a half. But we've had we've
had sharp play on the Bills plus to three. But
we've had some good casino play from our guests at

(01:41:46):
plus three two. So it's it's we'll see more money tomorrow,
of course, but not a lot of sharp interest on
this but right now. But like I say, a little
bit more money on the bills. All right, let's take
a look at that BILLI Titans Patriots matchup. This game
will definitely be Tom Brady's last home game of the year,
and it no but it could be right. It will

(01:42:08):
be for sure his last home game, and it could
be his last game ever in Gillette. So obviously these
these aren't the Patriots of old, and everyone's been trying
to predict their demise, including yours truly, but it's still
New England and it's still hard to see them going
out in the first round. Give us the Vegas perspective
on this game and whether or not the cold weather

(01:42:31):
will have an impact, because it's supposed to be cold.
I don't know if it's rainy or snowy, but it's
not supposed to be a good day in New England.
You know. The thing about this game is almost similar
to the first game on Saturday. We have taken a
sharp play, sharp a couple of sharp plays on the
Pats but most of it's come in on the casino
from casino side players and ticket count about two to

(01:42:52):
one on the Titans. Wow. Money is about two to
one on the Titans as well too. Wow. I believe
it a lot of people think that the Patriot's gonna
lose this game. That'll be I'll be a little surprised.
All right, what about the Saints and the Vikings. The
Saints are favored by seven and a half points. I'm
surprised it's that big of a line. Why is it

(01:43:14):
so high? I you know, well, do we have to
say why Kirk Cousins, You really have to say why?
But you know, Kirk Cousins has a really good record
before one pm easterns Yes. Um, but this line, it's
all Saints. It's not even it's not even funny, it's
it's Money's tending one in the Saints favor. Ticke accounts

(01:43:35):
through the one of the Saints favor. Nobody really big
believers in the Vikings going on the road. Um, with
Kirk Cousins coming into the you know, coming into Drew
Bilees Breeze's house and beating them, not even covering. Hey, hey, Lamar,
let's move over to the Sea Seahawks Eagles Game eleven
and five. Seahawks had point deferential of plus seven on

(01:43:57):
the season. They will have to travel to Philadelphia to
a lot of close games where they already beat the
Eagles earlier in the season, but the Eagles are riding
a four game win streak. How are the Sharps viewing
this game between the two banged up teams? Actually? Good
to way action on this right here? No sharp played
right now, I believe it or not. Nothing from the

(01:44:17):
Sharps right now. They liked the number one and a half,
they haven't taken it or laid it still one and
a half. Public's all on Seattle with the ticket account
about four to one ratio. Though, let me ask you this, Lamar,
do you guys have a line on the Cowboys next coach?
I wish we did because it's not Jason Garrett, So um, no,

(01:44:39):
we don't have. I was really wondering, did you see
those things sometimes? Ay? Lamar, real quick Gavin, who's filling
in for Rob gr producer. He has our football pigskin
picks all year. I just want you to hear how
but first let me content no, no context is in
poor Lamar, don't listen, Lamar, context is important. Last year

(01:45:04):
we were talking about last year. We've had one season
where we made our picks. I won going away sixty
four percent. Last year. I got the ring, all right.
I had a Super Bowl hangover this year, so I
took Rob lightly. I didn't think he knew what he
was talking about. And to his credit, he's done okay
about fifty six percent. I can give us, but I can.

(01:45:29):
All right, let's go, guys. Rob had a record of
fifty six, thirty three and one on the season. Chris
had a record of thirty six, fifty three and one
on the sea. It was that bad, Chris awful. But
who chose for me last weeks? And Lamar, Lamar, tell

(01:45:51):
tell he tell he must have went one and four
oh and five. Lamar, what did tell he go? Tell
you with two? Went three for you? Last week? When
Rob went three and two. There you go, all right, Lamar,
I'll be in touch, man, Lamar, looking forward to I'm
coming to Vegas though, next big fight. I'm there. Christ

(01:46:12):
we'll hang out all right, all right, Happy New Year.
A couple of Fox Sports Radio. You know what to do.
Keep it locked. Be sure to catch live editions of
The Odd Couple with Chris Brussard and Rob Parker weekdays
at seven pm Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports
Radio and the iHeart Radio app. We should just let

(01:46:33):
James go for a little while. The jabs. That's the
guyfather hip hop right there, Guyfather's soul right, all those
old hip hop samples, they sampled him. They sampled him. Yes,
so your kids don't even know. They just funky beat.

(01:46:54):
That's James Brown. Remember that's scratching, Remember that day they
scratch cutting, scratching. Alright, it's the Eye Couple of Chris
Bruce are Rob Parker, and it is time for the
pig Skin Pickoff. You ready to retire? The Odd Couple
is gonna make you rich corruption the Pigskin Pickoff? Rob?

(01:47:19):
Would you like me to recap the season record? Ye?
Having enough? I mean, wait, what did you buy Gavin
from Jordan's too? No, I didn't buy Gavin Jordans. Gavin's
doing artists for free, he said, I get them for free.
Come all stopping, and Gavin's doing his job. He's an
honest fare guy right down the middle. Right. I have

(01:47:40):
a question, Go ahead, I have a question. All right, Look,
it's the playoffs. It doesn't matter who if you cover, yes,
it is do or do. No, it's we just had
Lamar from the Vegas. It's about to spread. To think
these picks should be no win or lose period problems.

(01:48:05):
No want to, but you guys might be on the
same side. Rob and I disagree. I want to throw
it out to DJ, Alex Tisher, Gavin win or lose
or I want to go with the spread? What do
you want? You three are gonna decide. Okay, so this
is gonna be for the remainder of the postseason. Just
spread or if you're covered, its wind or lose. Baby.

(01:48:29):
Did you always do it with the spread regulars? Yes,
always regularly. This is tough though, because we're still trying
to help people make some money and they need to
spread to make some Right, I'm gonna say my votes
for the spreading. I'm gonna agree with Chris spread because
that's how it was during the season one. Chris is

(01:48:54):
right the other Winds and Rosses is all that matters.
But this isn't about that. No, it's not, because that's
why we have Lamar from Vegas. It's about the spreads
record goes to fifty seven. Disappointed in Alex all Right,
some money is a vegan. I did not think he

(01:49:14):
could be born with a pair of leather sneakers. Texans.
The Texans are gonna host the overrated Bills. Texans are
favored by two and a half points. Chris, where are
you at on this one? Texans by two and a
half because you I don't even know the point spread,
So I gotta think I got the Texans to win
two and a half though three, So let's come down. Yeah,

(01:49:38):
all right, I got the Texans with the points. I'm
gonna take the Texans too. I really want to take Buffalo,
but I think the Texans can win, and it's two
and a half. They can win by field goal and
still cover the spread. The Titans going on the road
in snowy Gillette. Patriots are favored by five and a
half points. Chris, where are you at? Well? I got
the Titans winning. I've been thinking about this all week.

(01:50:00):
I've been thinking about it all week, and look, I
get it. It's in Foxborough. It's Tom Brady, and I'm
gonna be honest. I want the Patriots to win because
it is I don't think they can be Kansas City,
but it is more fun. It's like when the Yankees,
it's our right, It's more fun when the Patriots are alive.

(01:50:23):
So I hope I'm wrong, but man, the Patriots have
not shown me anything this year. Uh, you know, gives
a good team. So I'm I'm I might be crazy,
but I'm going with the Titans. And you know what, Normally,
when Dynas teams are all over, it's kind of just
falls apart. And that game against the Dolphins showed me
something because because they needed to win that game, You're

(01:50:45):
at home, you were already winning, and you gave up
a late touchdown to Fitch, Magic, Fitzpatrick, Punkin or whatever
you want to call them it. So I'm going to
I'm gonna go with the Titans as well. I'm gonna
take the five and a half. I do believe, Chris,
I'm with you that they win outright, Patriots might win,

(01:51:06):
but they won't. They won't cover that win. It's gonna
be tight. I'm gonna take the Titans with five and
a half. Okay, you guys agree on the AFC games,
Let's go over to Sunday in the NFC. Rob you
will start on both of these games, Saints are hosting
the Vikings. Saints are seven and a half point favorites.
I'm taking the Vikings, taking the points to win. Wow,

(01:51:28):
I'm gonna take the points obviously, but I think they'll win.
I don't know Kirk Cousins. They lost their last two games.
He's had trouble, you know, win the big games. Vikings. Uh.
Dalvin Cook is a great runner for them, they got
him back, all this stuff. I'm just gonna the Saints.
I know they played well Chris all year, Drew bre

(01:51:51):
I know, I get it. I'm going to trying to
save him. No, no, no, okay, I'm gonna go with
I'm gonna go with the upset we got. All the
games are not going to be decided by the home team.
I'm got the that's the upset for me. Yeah, I
definitely have New Orleans winning. But that's a big sprand man,

(01:52:17):
it was eight points. It's coming down. Everyone's betting on
the Minnesota right now. Yeah. I got Minnesota to you know,
with couple points. But I got New Orleans winning. Okay,
you guys are in total agreement so far. But I
do have New but but yeah, but he's taking the point. Okay,
Seahawks Eagles, Seagulls are the lone road favorite this weekend? Rob,

(01:52:38):
were you at on this one and a half points? Sorry? Seahawks?
And this is the hard one because I really love
what Philadelphia has done wins in a lifetime, the four
game win streak, but they all still but they all
still depleted. And I know that Seattle's depleted as well,
well you know, and and aren't at full strength. So

(01:53:00):
all right, I'm gonna go against what my head tells me,
which and a lifetime in the upset, which in a
lifetime I'm gonna I don't think that's that bad of
a pick, really, there is. You remember how I felt
about the Nationals beating the Dodgers and you wanted to

(01:53:20):
pick up, Yeah, you wanted to. You talked about it
all weekend. When push came to shove, you didn't take
it right. That's kind of how I feel about this.
And part of it is I talked so much trash
against the Eagles. First, I thought I thought the Giants
were gonna beat them and that they wouldn't make the playoffs.
So I can't go with the Eagles now. But there's

(01:53:41):
a part of me that thinks that they could have
something going there at home, and Seattle has like Seattle, man,
they they're gonna get down, They're gonna be Downtenno, because
you know they're always that's there. But I'm gonna go
with Seattle. Okay, but you got another I'll remember this
one find out with the National right right right, because

(01:54:02):
you talked about it, but you just wouldn't remember. I
kept saying there's something about that team, and I latched
on to him and I didn't back down. Yeah, what
a great week man. It was the first week of
the new year. About to go crash. Man. I did
nine hours today on the radio, nine hours just today.
Is Jason Garrett still gonna be employed on Monday? Oh no? Really?

(01:54:23):
So what you think Jerry's gonna try to up I
think they're gone. I think he will be on the weekend.
I don't know. They might just say yeah, and well,
you probably don't want to upstage the game, so maybe not.
You might do a news stuff, Maybe do it right
after that. You can take over all the next week too.
If that's what he's doing it for the publicity, he could.
I think they're gonna just reassign him or let it

(01:54:44):
play out to the fourteen. That's what I thought, But
I you know, by now, they could have announced that
they were going to give him a job in the
front office and then figuring it out. But they haven't
done that, and Ed Werner said that that there was
no place for him. They're working under contract for Freddie Kitchens.
