At the bottom of the hour less than twenty eight minutes,
we will be joined by Michael Holly. Stop that. That's
not my thing, Parker. That don't come on behind me. Man,
you take it over my lead. I was, I was there,
(01:52):
stop it stop. Look, I got a story to tell.
Stop that something more and you know what to Don't
put that on baby jungle. That's right, what is that?
That's all right? Christias here, this is why Robert. Let
me just introduce our couple crew and let me get going.
(02:13):
This is Michael Holly will be joining us. Christ is
trying to steal a moment after he says, yes, she is.
You know I've been down on the Patriots all year.
All right, let's welcome into odd couple of cou because
we wouldn't be able to do this fine radio program
without him. Rob g is our producer, of course, Alex
our engineer. Ralph Irvin is our sports anchor. We'll keep
(02:37):
him up. He'll keep us updated throughout the program. He's
at the anchor desk, and Elijah our social media guru,
the best in the business. They're here. They're all on
the other side of the glass. Come on, Chris bu
saw it on this Magic City Monday. Let's kick some ass,
all right. I have a story to share. Here we go.
This is just all right, so I will totally hijack
(03:00):
little about myself. I had a good weekend. I was
three and one on my picks. So I'm feeling see
because y'all mocked me because my pigs can pick off
fell off this year. I don't know about the regular seats.
So here we go about the playoffs, baby nobody and
one we got here card wreck already. Anyway. I walk
(03:23):
into the meeting today, our pre show meeting, and Rob
Parker's sitting there with his legs. C Parker like he's
the man, big smile on his face, cheese eating grinned
on his face, and he says, it was a bad
weekend for you. Huh. I said, what you mean? I
was three and one? Were you talking to me? Wanted
(03:44):
the Patriots? Pick the Patriots? I'm like, no, I didn't.
It doesn't matter who's who wants to flip flop who pick?
He says, Wally about what Wally White's picking? The change
He's going, But I ain't really want the Faith to
win it more fun with your faith. You're involved than
(04:04):
this the relevant that That's what he said. Listen now
the sickest chest out or when they got out? Who
did I pick? Rob? You pick the point? I did not.
I picked Tennessee to win. Listen to the chap For
all you kids out there they want to get into
this business. I'm gonna give you some advice. This is
(04:26):
the sign of a true predictor a true guy. You
terrible all years. Don't go with all heart, you go
with your head. My heart was with the Patriots, My
head was with the Titans, and I went with the Titans.
That play it robs you still my day. I want
(04:54):
the Patriots to win because it is. I don't think
they can be Kansas City. You listen, fun. It's like
when the Yankees. All right, it's our right. It's more
fun when the Patriots are alive. So I hope I'm wrong,
but man, the Patriots have not shown me anything this year.
Uh you know it gets good team. So I'm I'm
(05:15):
I might be crazy, but I'm going with the Titans.
There it is. I'm going with the Titans. I said
nothing about points. I don't care if I was wrong.
When the points I wanted the questions, but true my head,
it is not my heart. It's the worst prediction ever.
He's like, the whole way through, I want the Patriots
(05:36):
to win, I'm pulling for the Patriots, blah blah blah
blah blah. And then you're at the last second you
go so so this way, you know what it would
have been. Had the Patriots one, he would have said, see,
I was pulling for him. I wanted him so he
kind of record would have been too. I told you
before the season even started they wouldn't make it to
the AFC Championship. Get well, yes that is they ain't no,
(06:03):
and the player ain't no. This give you some props
they were ain't no. I told you that the Pels
were looking at the first I told you you pick.
Did you pick the brother getting props? Did you pick
the bro? Did you not get did you pick Pittsburgh?
He picks all these teams. He was wrong. This was
my year. This was my Chris pick the be This
(06:26):
was my year. I think the charge told you about
the Patriots. I told you about the Patriots. Don't come
in here with that. Lynn didn't pick the Chargers with
in the Super Bowl Chris had the most topic lame pick.
I went to Patriot win. I wouldn't be many at
the Patriots win, but I'm gonna take the Titans. What
he didn't say is I want to take the Titans
(06:49):
in the five and halm no, because I got this
didn't come out of his mouth. I didn't. That didn't
come out of his mouth because he wasn't when I
was feeling, I didn't tell you that. I told you
that the pare young and take no. I told you
the Patriots for a good listen River in Kentucky. Now
go ahead, I believe you you got a few minutes
(07:10):
to shine. Go ahead. I just had to say. I
wasn't even thinking about going there until you tried to
take away my pick. Alex tried to shake what just happened,
and I've lost. I've lost Alex. Alex was my man. Alex.
Me and Alex had the Vegan connection. All that he
saw me out for some leather sneakers be Vegan and
(07:34):
all that. Where they get the leather from all while
I get the leather from. Is he eating the sneakers?
Playing bass? Now they're making playing bass Jordan's nowadays? Come on, man,
I Triallenge used to be my man. That hurts Chris
and I talk. Go ahead, have you go ahead? You
got the next five minutes. All I'm telling you is
(07:55):
I've been telling you about Tom Brady and the Patriots
over and over and over. If you went on Twitter
and you went on Instagram, everybody know, go look, Rob
called this. I knew this was a fraudulent team. Tom
Brady's fraudulent. I'm telling you, I've been trying to tell
you this was coming. But you remember the video of
(08:16):
Tom Brady and his daughter going off the cliff. I
knew it. I knew it. They couldn't win. When they
lost to the Dolphins, everybody like, well the no waida
They're gonna go out like that and lose to the
Titans at home. No way that's happening. I never wavered
on that. I knew they would lose. And the other
thing is I changed my mind about Brady. You know,
(08:37):
Brady might want to continue to play, but after watching
him and the last two playoffs. I'm talking about his
last two playoffs game, that terrible super Bowl game that
he won, that they won, and Saturday, Tom Brady needs
to retire. Tom Brady is done is finished. Tom Brady
reminded me of Willie Maze in nineteen seventy three, dumbling
(09:00):
around left field missing balls. Willie Mays was one of
the greatest center fielders in the history of baseball, and
he stuck around too long, and he was terrible at
the end, missing flyballs. Tom Brady. It was only fitting
that Tom Brady threw a pick six to end his
career with the Patriots. It was fitting because he's trying
(09:21):
to stick around too long. Get out of the game,
Tom Brady. Let somebody young and healthy and with an upside.
Let them play. Strip that uniform off and go home
to your wife and kids. You don't belong in the
NFL anymore. I don't care what they tell you. He's
gonna be forty three next season. Stop it, tom Brady.
(09:44):
We need you to get out of the NFOL enough.
Everybody keeps pulling like trying to make excuses for you.
Oh Tom Brady. The narrative was always he did more
with lasting Nach, so he did more with the n
Now everything is but he don't have anything he does
he does. Tom Brady was awful. Julia be a Hall
(10:10):
of Famer Holy this season when they would at no
people were talking about they're gonna go undefeated. Yes, when
they were we've talked about that. Those people were crazy.
And I'm telling you right now enough with Tom Brady.
If the Patriots were right, If the Pats, I wouldn't
do it. Because you loved Bridgewater, Bridgewater will be. He's
(10:32):
a free agent, not be in New Orleans. I'd make
Breeze walk Teddy Bridgewater being. You said, what's my plan?
B I just gave it to you. You love to
talk about Joe Man tend to finish his career elsewhere. Peyton,
many Johnny Unities, they all finished their careers elsewhere. They
had playing b but then when they had Andrew Luck
(10:55):
in Indianapolis. What I'm telling that, Steve Youngest everything, what
I'm telling you Jared's did him that match. I'm just
telling you, at forty two, soon to be forty three,
Tom Brady is washed. He's washed. You could keep kidding
yourself and making all the excuses, do not do it.
He is Brady year, he's not. He's not close to Payton.
(11:19):
I'm telling you last year. Let me tell you if
Tom Brady, if you you don't want him, be that
you don't want to have people watch you like they
did Peyton Manning and when he threw for ninety yards
and the Super Bowl and you look like the tim Man.
He didn't win no Super Bowl of defense won the
Super Bowl. He was there for the rock. Tom Brady,
you smell last starting quarter. That's Tom Brady period. Tom Brady,
(11:43):
forget it, Quinn, I will get QUI retire to some
dignity about yourself. Do not do this to yourself. So
Michael Jordan didn't have dignity when he played match, you
know when he went to watching and that was a mistake.
It turned out to be a mistake, hurt his legacy
and all. No, I'm not talking about they wanted to do.
Michael Jordan couldn't even make the playoffs with the Wizards
(12:05):
and forty years old. I'm telling you what wasn't mistaken.
He could do it all over again at forty. He
wouldn't do it. Don't do it, Tom Brady. Go home,
retire to California, let your wife make all the money
as a model, get out of football. But I will
give you this, Rob, that's not a bad take. You
(12:27):
went overboard as usual. He's war She can't do this.
He can't. No, that's overboard. Give him some receivers. I
think the kill Harry will improve. Edelman is fine as
in the slot, but you gotta get him some legitimate
receivers outside. Get them some help. And if you get
(12:47):
him some help, the offensive line is young. It's gonna
be better. Next year. He can still be a contender. Now,
he probably won't win another super Bowl, but he can still.
They wont tw games. It doesn't matter that I'm telling
you to twelve NFL teams. Tom Brady one twelve weeks. Now,
(13:08):
here's the thing. If he did retire, I mean, he's
not going to get better. He is on the downside.
He is about to be forty three. So that's nice,
not a bad take. Just retire. Let us remember you
just one season removed from a super Bowl. That's not bad.
You just went too far with it that he's terrible.
(13:31):
He doesn't belong in the NFL. He's still better than
a lot of starting quarterbacks out there. And if you
get him some weapons, he could still do that. The
phone sent the phone will be wringing at Tom Brady's house,
but it'll be tied to urgent. He's washed they'll use
him as a spokesman for better I was gonna say
only Craig Melvin gonna laughing. Yes, I'm Tom Long. Did
(13:53):
you stay up last night thinking of that one? I've
been in the parking lot since Saturday after that game?
Why couldn't do the show? I ruined? Rob show, he
ain't ruining it. Wait to jump on me. And it
was all wrong. It was all Anybody who listened to that,
they know you kind of hedge you show. You said
(14:15):
you were rooting for the Patriots. You we have people
teams we like, and I like, I was rooting for
the Patriots, but that didn't pick them. It's about the picks.
It's playoff time, man. You know I show up in
the postseason. I told you that A seven seven ninety
nine on Fox A seven seven nine nine six sixty
three sixty nine. Should Tom Brady hang up his cleats
(14:39):
and retire? As Rob Parker says, or like I say,
how about the Patriots give him a few more weapons
on the outside and you go one more time. We'll
continue the conversation with you next. It's the Eye Couple,
Chris brus or Rob Parker, Fox Sports Radio. Be sure
to catch live editions of The Odd Couple with Chris
Brussar then Rob park weekdays at seven pm Eastern four

It's a magic Monday. We welcome your calls. Eight seven,
seven ninety nine on Fox. Should Tom Brady call it quits?
Let's start with Nick in New York. Nick, you're on
with The Eye Couple. Hey, you guys doing man my
favorite show. So I don't want you guys to take
(15:44):
this to heart first, Chris Christen Brusar, I am shocked
that you are back to work already. You take off
more days than think. Nick. That's right, Rob, Rob, I
wouldn't laugh now you was about to take another out.
I'm surprised that you are. You want the young guy
(16:06):
to come in and kick the old guy out when
you're the old guy in the strip club ticking our
young boy. What hey, if you got dollar bills a
chick to come to you too, it don't matter. There's
no age thing. Love you guys and keep it up.
If my favorite parts that you guys do not too polls,
you don't do anything like that. And honestly, you guys
(16:28):
are the best. Appreciate Appreciate you, brother. That's terrible radio.
I hate to break it to people. He said, we
do not do what poles, you know, like taking poles.
Oh yeah, yeah, let's go to the Sacramento Mark. You
on with Chris and Rob. I good to wait to
hear what Chris was gonna say today. Rob I said
this to you about ten weeks ago when he was
(16:48):
going through this crap. Get it, Robbed, you don't know
what I'm not Mark, Mark, did you you hurt to take?
Who did I pick to win you? You have to
give you credit. You didn't go against your heart. That's
the hardest thing. But I don't think they're gonna win.
I gotta pick it. That's hard to do. I hear you,
(17:11):
But I will say this. I'm not gonna go as
far as Rob didn't say he should quit. I see
quarterbacks that shouldn't be playing at all. So I'm not
gonna say that, but I want to say this. I
think it's he should if if he went home and
his wife said, you had to, I want you home.
I don't want you to get hurt. That's the word.
(17:31):
I think that she's sticking his head. Tom Brady can't
move and he doesn't have armstring, and in today's games
they are they're getting more luck guys to try to
kill the quarterback because they can't touch the wide receiver.
A matter of fact, there's another couple coming in next year.
One I'm asa Chase Young coming. He can't move anymore.
Look at all the teams I have morbile quarterbacks now
(17:51):
can get them away from that. Look just look what
happened in the games. Befell him what WU again? Let
me ask you go away, Let me ask you if
they gave him some above average weapons, he can't carry
the mediocre receivers anymore. Do you think they could have
a really good year. I don't think you have, because
I don't think he has the armst anymore. See two
(18:14):
us in a row. He couldn't get the ball of
that twelve yards and it turned into a pick six
of the one was killed yesterday. Yeah, but he doesn't
have the armsters anymore. I agree, Mark, he needs to
step aside and retire. Kevin and Wisconsin, you're on the
odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Kevin? Hey?
How you doing? Robbing? Chris? Hey? This time I gotta
(18:38):
go with Chris. Chris is right. I'm sorry, rob Yo.
You're laying your hatred for Brady blind, Yes, because I
don't Brady. He goes with his heart, not his head. Okay, well, okay,
you don't hate him. But it's similar to yours life.
It's similar to your critique where sometimes I'll get on
(18:59):
Chris because get on my boy Aaron Rodgers. But the
way that I look at it is the same way
with Rogers and Brady, because neither has ever had great receivers.
He hold on a second one time he had, he
had Randy Moss. Rogers has never had anybody. But as
you get older, you could still produce if you get
(19:22):
more help. They sabotage this man and gave him nobody.
Roski retired. They didn't go out and get somebody to
replace him. You get rid of Gordon, which whatever, whatever reason,
I can understand. But two weeks later he had an
All Star game for Seattle. If he left New England
and he went to either the Coach or the Rams,
(19:43):
he would have a way better season than he did
this year. Rob, you gotta admit that. I don't admit that.
I don't think he's good anymore. I've been watching keV
and I think that Tom Brady. People will talk about it,
his arm strength and just the way he can't move
to I'm Brady is washed. I'm telling you I thought
he should go to another team. I think before he
(20:05):
gets hurt or embarrassed or continues if he No, I'm
saying I thought that before. I changed my mind after
watching this game. That's what I'm saying is I changed
my mind. I thought he should go to the Charges.
If I'm telling Brady, I would just retire and go
ahead and spend time with my family. Forty two going
on forty three is enough. He's finished. Let's go to
(20:28):
Marty in Kentucky. Marty on with the eye couple. What
did River here many Chris give River a shout out. No,
he didn't I told River, I said, look, this is
how you pick when you predict games. You go with
your head, not your heart. No matter how much you
might want a team, how much you don't want to
(20:51):
sit there and have to root against them, you gotta
pick who you think's gonna win. And that's what I think.
That's why I never been on the Pittsburg Stills to
Kentucky basketball or the New York Yankees, because I got
too much hard in it. But unfortunately I have joined you,
Chris and the group, the shameful group of losing a
(21:12):
sports bet to Rob Parker called wingstop at Santa Monica
Boulevards today and they told me that I would have
to order through some door, dash me a tweet and
let me know. Just hit me up in my dams
and let me know what everybody wants, what type of
wings and flavors are. We'll do that. Morty, can you
(21:32):
tell everybody what the bet was? Job bet me before
season started dead the Patriots would not make the FC
Championship and I jumped all over it and Rob one embarrassed. No,
it's all right. Tell me, William, what do you think
about Brady now? Does he need to retire you play on.
(21:54):
I think that with I think it's best to retire
because he's because he's he's on the gonna. I just
I just don't like to look right now his arm strength,
like like Marks Sacrament always, it looks weak and he
people expect Brady to contend for titles, and I think
that's over with. He's got a phenomenal defense to back
(22:14):
him up that that kemp An offense, it's been great.
Tennessee's offense has been phenomenal. And Marty think about this.
They gave up fourteen points and they couldn't win. They
gave up that's all they gave up. That's that normally
in the playoffs, you're gonna win that game. Question, would
you agree with that? Yeah, your defense gives up fourteen points.
Let's go to Keith and Peoria Keys. You got about
(22:34):
thirty seconds are we doing? Felix and Oscar he Man,
I'm we know who you are. We know who you are. Hey.
First of all, he's been there long enough. Fellers, I
understand where you're going. Either where it goes, it's a
win win situation. If you want to make a little
more money, go ahead. He's been there he's got his
(22:57):
just do. If he wants to retire, he can still
do it the same way. Rob, I kind of agree
with you on the washed up. I watched the field
the ball Saturday fluttering. Yes, got getting it down feel
like it should be. But I still think he has
enough that if you get some weapons around him and
put it together, he could still be a good enough quarterback.
(23:18):
Agree with me. I agree with both of you guys.
Like I said, That's how I look at it. I
pick the side. Keith, we don't play that. On the
Odd Couple? Should the Should the Patriots even one time?
Brady back next season? Michael Holly, our good friend from
NBC Sports, let me hit a homer from Boston answer.
(23:38):
I can't wait to hear him. Be sure to catch
live editions of The Odd Couple with Chris Broussard and
Rob Parker weekdays at seven pm Eastern four pm Pacific
on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeart Radio app. We're
the Eye Couple, Coming you live from the Guy Go
Fox Sports Radio Studios. It's easy to save fifteen percent
of more in your car insurers with get Go. Go
to get goo dot com or call eight hundred nine
(24:00):
four seven auto. The only hard part is figuring out
which way is easier. My man had the guts to
come on here when he knows that Rod Parker is
just beating his chast what Mike conbearable? He's unbearable today,
mikel NBC Sports Boston right goes back decades with us.
(24:21):
All right, Mike, what are they gonna do now? I
want to know. I want to say, I just want
I just want to make sure. Are you okay? Did
you cry all weekend after Saturday night, after Tom Brady
looked horrible and through that pick six, everybody in Boston
must have died. What's the reaction up in Beantown? Well, listen,
(24:44):
I got my my favorite stuffed animal next to me
right now. My eyes are little, but it's gonna be
all right. I'm gonna be okay. Now, go ahead. Spiker football,
Spiker football. Several times when you're beating we talked about
and Mike, is this if we are we? Is Brady gone?
(25:05):
Because Robert Kraft kind of like is Brady's choice? And Mike,
I think he should retire. I'm I'm saying he's looking
like Willie Mays in nineteen seventy three. Enough with Tom Brady.
Tom Brady needs to go away. You really think you
should retire, Yeah, you should retire. He should retire. I
think if they get him some better weapons, he can't
carry the media. Do you want to keep looking like
(25:26):
this in playoff games? Better weapons? Well, I think that
go out there. For the first point, Broussar, we talked
about Robert Kraft and that Peter King article. That's some
revisionist history from Robert Kraft. The fact is Brady wanted
a multi year count, thank you, That's what Kristin. I
said that to you. But Patriots did not give it
(25:47):
to him. And so now Craft is trying to sound like, oh, yeah,
Tommy wanted to be free and we said after twenty
years so stric No, he didn't want to be a
free agent. He wanted to be a Patriot. They are
going year to year with them, and he wanted them
to give him a Drew Brees contract. They didn't give
it to him. So that's why he said that. Now
the other thing, do I think he'll come back? Yes,
I think he'll ultimately come back because I think he's
(26:09):
the best option that the Patriots have, right. I mean,
you you think about all the quarterbacks in the league
who are better. I know, if there are those who
had better stats, I would take Teddy Bridgewater right now.
I would Tom Brady. Well, Rob, you wouldn't take Teddy Bridgewater.
(26:29):
Tod nice job and releasing Drew Brees now, and you
don't know what what he's gonna do in the playoffs.
He doesn't have a body where I wouldn't trust that.
But I'm saying the Patriots, based on the available quarterbacks
and what they know about Tom Brady, tom Brady is
their best option. I think he said I think Brady
is best for the Patriots, and the Patriots are best
for Brady, so they be able to work that out
(26:53):
without Eagles being two. Bruis most likely does Belichick, though,
want you know you hear all the stories. Belichick doesn't
win him back. He wanted him out a few years ago.
What's the deal with all that? I think Belichick is
waiting for the drop so he I think Belichick likes Brady,
(27:14):
but two things. One, he just keeps looking at say, hey, Tayler,
this can't happen. How can I How can I have
a forty two year old quarterback now next year? How
can I have a forty three year old quarterback and
it's never really been done before in the history of football.
At some point, he's gonna fall off, isn't he? And
the and the funny thing is this year, Yeah, there
was a drop off from Tom Brady. But you have
(27:35):
to ask yourself, Parker, was a drop off because Brady?
You don't think Brady can play anymore? Or is it
because you traded a second round pick for Mohammed Sanu
and he gave you nothing and that Julian Edelman looked
banked up and Philip Dorset gave you nothing and you
had no left tackle for eight games? Like, so what
is it? What came first? Is it the fall off?
(27:57):
Or is the lack of weapon? Rob Holly From Michael Holly,
I'm sorry, NBC Sports Boston. No, I'm gonna answer it.
He just had to do it, He had to reset it.
That's all. Let everybody know we're talking to you, that's all.
But but but this is my problem. The narrative has
always been the praise of Tom Brady. Tom Brady does
(28:20):
more with less than anybody else. And now all of
a sudden, now, yeah, you'd happen, Michael if he's forty two,
trying to still play quarterback where things have changed. He's
just gonna stay out there, wind up getting hurt. You
see his arm strength. His balls are fluttering. I didn't know.
(28:41):
I thought he was throwing knuckleballs at some point during
that game. He was inaccurate. I mean, he was terrible
in that Miami game. Yes, terrible, fluttering. I just don't think.
I don't think that he is uh the quarterback that
he was. And I think, if i'm the Patriots, just
cut your laws, isn't move on and you're one right.
(29:03):
He's mad because they didn't give him the contract that
he wanted. You know, they could have said, you're all guy, Tom,
we're gonna give you three years, fully guaranteed. We're gonna
let you play until your leg falls off. No, they
gave him this phony contract which gave him a little
money in year one, right, Mike this year, and then
the other two years. And it was a slap in
(29:24):
the face. And I think that's why he put his
house up for sale, and maybe he's trying to coax
them into coming with something else. I really believe that
he did. He played his last game in New England.
I do believe Lessen. It's a possibility. Man. We'll find
out March eighteenth. That's when if they don't come to
a deal before then, he's a free agent and he
can go anywhere he wants. But I do want to
(29:45):
address this do more with less? Most great quarterbacks do,
most of them. Most of them can do more with less,
and he has throughout his career. But I will tell
you Rob Parker and christ Bussard, I will tell you this,
this is the worst offense I've seen in England since
two thousand when they were five and eleven and he
wasn't even a quarterback. That was a Drew Bledsoe quarterback team.
(30:07):
They they didn't have any look at their weapon, they
didn't have type. They decided we're gonna punt on tight ends.
But wait a minute, let me ask you how did
they start a No, don't you remember the number they
were blowing out? They would scoring forty points every game.
What happened to that mighty Holly? Well, well I'll tell
you what happened to him. Remember we talked about a
(30:27):
couple of months ago and you said, hey, this defense,
this is no historic defense, is overrated, And I agree
with you. Right, yep I said, though. Part of the
reason they scored forty three in that in the second
game of the year, they had a couple of pick sixes.
Like the defense was scoring, they were blocking punts. But
once that started to drop off in the second half
of the season, now the offense was forced to actually
(30:51):
put some points up and the defense started to show
what it is. It's a good defense. It's not a
great difference. Now here's multi problem, though, Mike. They you
give up fourteen points in a playoff game. Would a
runner like Henry right, and you mean to tell me
you what fourteen points was? It was? Was too many?
He's saying, go ahead, Can I tell you why? Because
(31:11):
if you say you're a great defense, listen he whoever
you're whoever you're picture in your head of a great defense,
whoever you maybe it's eighty five Bears or the Giants,
whatever it is, or the Ravens in two thousands. What
a great what a great defense will do is take
away what you want to do. So they'll take that
away and now you gotta go to your secondary option.
What the Tennessee Titans wanted to do in that game
(31:33):
is run, and they did no I get it. Defense
couldn't take it away. So yeah, but you only gave
up fourteen points. Is the game is still about points
and when they had to. If you told me that
the Pages would give up fourteen points and lose a
home playoff game, you would buy that. Well, listen, if
you told me that Derrick Henry we're gonna average seven
(31:56):
eight yards carry and he's gonna run for eighty two yards,
you've got I have to call that a great defense.
It give us up one eighty two Only is it
about point towards? It about yards? What is it about
about what? No, it's about what It's about taking away
your number one weapon. That's the that's the Bill Belichick
playbook right there. Going into a game with Belichicks, you
(32:17):
always know Belichick is gonna take away your primary option.
So you wouldna have to play in a way that
you don't really you're not really comfortable playing. And that
never happened. But the Pagets were scoreless in the second
half at home with Tom Brady. They have a bad
they have bad offense and a bad offense. Do they
have a bad quarterback? Would you say they got a
bad quarterback? Or no, he's not bad. I don't. I
(32:39):
do not think. I don't believe that. I don't believe
he's a bad quarterback, and you don't either. I mean,
I know you have to play that role. I'm not
playing a role. He's doing a good job. I'm telling you.
I think. I think Ricky. I think Ricky your base
mentioned you last night in the Golden Globes. He's got
something doing a great job. You're doing a great job,
Rob Parker. So he's in heaven today. Mike, Hey, Mike,
(33:01):
all I want to tell you is Saturday night I
needed a cigarette and I don't even smoke. That's how
good it was. What I have to deal with man
on a daily basis. All right, it sounds like it
sounds like that's not happening too often for you. On
that note. Great, Or I could be or I could
(33:23):
be married and have sex only on vacation, you know
what I mean, one or the other. Speak for yourself.
That's not all. That's right. We keep the fire burning
in the Bruce Arn Oh yeah, Michael Holly to Coast Right, Inc.
Sports bosson. Thanks, brother, appreciate it. Hey, Mike, you own
(33:45):
me wings too. I bet you you own me wings
Oh yeah, I do. I got you. I got you.
Don't work all right, don't act like you forgot wing
bets Mike are for the whole I Couple crew, So
we're gonna send in a hundred wings. Yes he didn't

I'm a woman. It's the I Couple, Chris and Rob
and Uh, We're gonna take a few more of your calls.
A lot of you guys want to weigh in about
the Patriots eight seven, seven ninety nine on five. It's
a special day because I was right. I told you guys.
(34:31):
I know people are saying I've been saying it for
ten years. It's not true. I just think I said
it at the beginning of the been saying it for
about eight years. No, it ain't been that long. I'll
stop it real really, six na, this is what twenty
six years? I say four years or so? That disqualifies you.
Then thank you, Barbara Water pop it. That's like me
(34:54):
saying DeAndre Water is gonna lose. I'm telling you, and
then six years from now, when he's old and washed loses,
I'm telling you. I was right. And this was before
the season. You keep saying it's not a big deal.
Let's predict they're not making the playoffs. Let's go to
Gary and let me hear this. Gary, you're on the
odd couple of Fox Sports raining hard, Chris raining on
(35:17):
that parade? What's that, Ron Parker? Only Rob can stand,
can sit there and claim the exact same cake for
a decade and then throw a victory lap when he's
finally right, Rob, let me read a tweet to you.
Pat's wins Super Bowl. No way, no how, Brady will
never make it back to the Super Bowl. Rob, When
(35:37):
do you think that tweet was from? Who do you
think it was? What was that twenty seventeen? That was
twenty fourteen, rother rack. Let let me hear the tape, Wow,
twenty fourteen. Let it Let me hear this sap. They
they they fudged my voice. They'd not qualify Gary. Thanks
(36:05):
for the call. I was right. I don't care what
you say. Yet all these bitter ah, you know what
all these bitter Patriots fans never reach a super Bowl.
You know what they all have they all they all
have to get to Africanti's in a bunch up there.
Hey what about Richard and Orlando. You're on the couple
of Fox Sports Radio. Hey Chris, you guys doing happy
(36:29):
to happy New Year? All right? Um, definitely I agree
with you. Um, A couple of things. As we all know,
once we get to a forties, our bodies changing, no
matter how what great shape you have, the condition you do,
look at you another is a thematic change. Um. His own,
as you pointed out, definitely slotted many drunk the entire year.
(36:52):
You can always see safeties bating to tone over the middle.
So he had a deep three. He couldn't get it there. Yeah,
he can't even get it there, but it to be
a deep threat yesterday. If you don't have a winning game,
you need a deep, a deep thread and deep on.
He didn't have it either. You see what I'm saying
that you stopped one. You make deep safety cheats. Look
(37:13):
see your eyes beating him for interception. I think Philip
Rivers yep, y'all don't win the game wins. That's why
Advance and I'm not going to pick them against Baltimore. Really. Wow, Rich,
Now that's a pick. He said, he's picking. Who's picking
Tennessee overall? Wow? No, but they won the football, Chris.
(37:36):
They're gonna keep trying to keep Lamar off. You keep
him off the field. If you could keep getting first
downs and you run the ball and munch up the clock.
Didn't he won't have that many offensive possession in him. No,
not yet. I'm still gonna take a look at it.
But I'm just saying he's not that wrong about about
about the type of style that you need in order
to keep him off the field. And you could beat
(37:56):
him if they were able to do that, right, That's
that's why the Jaguars did. And when you remember they
couldn't get that first first down, yep, that was it.
If they would have been able to run and get
a first down in New England, they would have beat
them a couple of years ago. But they didn't. They
couldn't do it. They didn't. H Gary Man, Gary came
at you. That's all right, Gary, You know what, all
you bitter New England fans, they're all bitter. You deserve
(38:18):
swallowed a bitter pill. Named Tom Brady. I hope you
choke on it all right, we got two hours left.
You know what to do. Keep it locked right here.
I'm telling you two hours of energy. Right, I'm just
feeling good. Finally, you guys got the real Stark. There's
(38:41):

(39:24):
In less than twenty eight minutes, we'll be joined at
the bottom of the hour by the Hall of Famer,
our good friend, the defensive back extraordinary Rod Woodson, so
definitely keep it lying. Rod will tell them that Brady
should retire too. After that performance. I'm glad you brought
up Tom Brady again. What because you are up here
(39:45):
on your soapbox. I told you, Rob, and I was
gonna leave it at that. I was gonna leave it
at Look, it wasn't all that as far as predictions go.
Tell me they're not making the playoffs. Tell me they're
getting beat in the first round. Then I'll give you
something in the wild card game. But how the wild
card team tell me that? What? Boy the man, then
(40:05):
I'll give you a hold on No. I gave you
five minutes, last hour straight. I was gonna let sleeping
dogs lie right because you're my boy, I'm your boy.
God that made you gonna do something. I'm gonna let
this be your day and let you soak up to
all the praise. And I predicted, but you went too
(40:25):
far and Gary called you out and that was great.
From twenty fourteen you're talking about they're never gonna make
the super Bowl again. But it's even worse than that. Gary.
You didn't go far enough. Here. It is the eye
cover and crew. Rob Gee found this cool outside the metal.
(40:50):
It's microwave take with the oncover quoting you here, he's
on the down side of his career. I want you
to say that as he turns thirty five, Tom Brady's
on the down side of his career. And if you
ask me if he'll ever get to another Super Bowl,
have one answer, no, way, no how that's gets seventh,
(41:13):
two thousand and twelve. Or first take on ESPN, Rob Parker,
did I work over there years ago, seven and a
half years ago, right? And for the record, you said
he would never reach another Super Bowl. He reached four
super Bowls and one three of them. Yeah, but I
(41:34):
didn't realize it to no chomp chi all you guys
gets Backchael Holly, No, no wings you that you you
have gone beyond the spirit of betting. No daid I
bet that I know you're you're you don't do it
in good faith. I bet that they can't make the
same prediction year after year after year after year after
(41:57):
year after year after year after year after year. I
think that's nine that was too many. You can't do it.
My bet you do. My bet this year was that
they wouldn't make the AFC Championship Game. That before the season,
not when they were eight, No, before the season, because
I knew where Tom Brady was headed off the cliff.
(42:17):
You gotta give me credit for that twenty twelve two, right,
you know what I did? That work out for it?
I didn't know they were gonna be lucky, and a
couple of things worked in their favorite. They got lucky
and one more super Bowl. Before that, they had never
won a third, but gone ten years without winning. There
was no way you could believe that they were gonna
win after that. I'm serious. Remember that they had gone
(42:39):
ten years without a Super Bowl and all of a
sudden they lucked into three more lucked in. You don't
luck in the four Super Bowl appearances, three of them victories.
All right. I just had to get that off my chest.
Now when you stopped the bragging, because you can't brag,
you got nothing to brag about. I'm sorry. I know
you came in. This was your day. I feel good,
(43:02):
James Harden? Is that what those are? You? Special? Hardened sneakers?
And I'm feeling great? All right? Well, how you feeling
about the Cowboys and their new coach? They and and
and we talked about this Rob on Friday they went
beyond so called respect for Jason Garrett. It was you
love him, but you're interviewing other candidates before you are
(43:23):
secretly right behind. I agree, I don't understand. Let the
guy be released and then you go out and doing
search some people, you know that, Like, I'm surprised that
Mike mccarthyr coaches even went for that because normally there's
like a you know what I mean, a fraternity and
don't do that, man, you know what I'm saying, like
like he has he been released, you know, or whatever,
(43:45):
and most people don't want to go in. That's bad luck.
When you do that, somebody's still under under contract or
hasn't been relieved of their duty. That's a great point, Rob.
And in fact, had Mike McCarthy said, you know what, Jerry, look,
I'm interested in the job, but until you get rid
of Jake Ken interview, that would have said a nice tone?
Am I right? That would have said a nice tone.
(44:06):
They look, I'm not just gonna be your errand boy
on the coach the team. Bring me in. I'm my
own man. Now. All that's saying I like to hire. No,
I don't have a problem with it. I really don't.
The only problem I have is with Jerry Chris. He
went out and got a veteran coach who's won a
Super Bowl. I like that, a grown man in the room. Okay,
(44:27):
but the only and you can say whatever you want
about Mike McCarthy. He comes in with the hardware, so
we'll see how he deals with Jerry. But he's not soft.
And listen, the only problem, the only issue is will
Jerry finally step back. I know he's not gonna totally
turn over the keys to the Ferrari Chris, That's not
what he's gonna do. But Kenny step back enough to
(44:49):
allow Mike McCarthy to coach and put this together. That's
what that's the problem. That's the issue. The question, Well, look,
if you believe Peter King, and he's obviously a great
rapport order covering the NFL, but you did him Michael
Holly when he talked about how he got a little
revisionist history, Yeah, yeah, yeah, well yeah, because the Robert
Craft story. When I'm talking about Peter King has said
I've heard him several times on the Herd with Colin
(45:13):
Cowherd say that Jerry Jones, I've been there. This is
Peter kingark, I've been in the war room with him.
I've been there on Draft night. He's not the dictator
that everybody thinks he is. We'll see. He's an ego maniac.
He wants to spotlight, he wants his own radio segment,
he wants to talk after, hold the press conference after
(45:34):
every game before the coach. Right. So, but football wise,
according to Peter King, he lets them, you know, lets
the guys do their their job. So I think it's
a good hire. I know you got people out there
pooh pooh in it. Look, Mike McCarthy has not had
I know, you know, his record was great in Green Bay.
(45:55):
I know, the only one won Super Bowl. But heck
seven divisions division titles and you're saying he only won
one super Bowl with only one Rogers Peyton man, he
didn't win another Super Bowl to the end of his career.
And he didn't even and he didn't even win that one.
I mean, you know, the defense won it. I'm I mean,
he gets credit, but you know what I'm saying, right,
(46:17):
And he was on all those good teams in Indianapolis.
Remember Peyton coach because he's only won one Super Bowl
And they say he's the greatest coach ever, one of
the one of the greatest coach. Let's let's stop killing him.
He's a good coach, and I rob I think he's
got a lot of talent to work with. And I
think even though you're not, I'm not, I think you
think they got some talents. They got talent. I'm just
(46:38):
not high on Dak, you know what I mean. I
just don't really believe he can win those games. That's
that's my issue. Now, could he get the best out
of Dak? Could he could he help Dak? Maybe he can,
you know what I mean? And maybe and maybe maybe
he can do something that that they haven't been able
to do with him. But I'm just saying, Chris, I
don't have an issue with the higher. He's a veteran guy.
He's won a championship. This ain't because ain't a lack
(47:01):
lackey higher, right, agree? I agree, some unproven college coach
has to earn their respect. He has to show you
in the first few first week or so that he
knows what he's doing to get your respect. Mike McCarthy
walks in with the respect of the players. Now, I'm
glad you brought up Dak because I told you. See,
(47:22):
I'm not the type to just, you know, want a
whole show to be about me bragging it about you.
Here we go, i haven't even gone there, but I'm
just gonna put you in your place a little bit.
I told you if I could have Carson Wentz or
Dak Prescott, I'm with Dak again this weekend. Why and
(47:46):
I like Carson Wentz. He has played great over the
last month. I give him his props. But unfortunately, Rob,
he's injury prone, and I know anybody can suffer, can come.
That's not his Baldy stayed healthy all year, he won
the last two games. Didn't healthy? Argument with the depleted
(48:08):
team looted Sunday that was included in You're gonna blame
that because the guy hit him helmet the helmet. He's
injury prone. Unfortunately, he's go back to his freshman year
in college. He's gotten injured most years. But because here's
all I'm saying, he's great, here's what your argument. Do
you won the field, Carson, here's your Here's what your
(48:30):
argument doesn't hold up about that? Did they not have
a full team with no injuries? They were loaded to Cowboys.
You just talked about what a good roster they had,
didn't they lead Rob who led the league and drop passes?
Stop stop that, ain't you need to stop? He's still
(48:51):
through fall almost five thousand yards. He's still the league
fourth in QBR YEA. And had those drops not a guy,
had half of the drops not occurred. I'm not even
I'm not even asking for you know, everybody catch every ball,
but half of them if they weren't drop. Most of
his damage was against the bad teams. And you know it, Chris,
(49:17):
he didn't have the phenomenal year. I'll give you some
of that because I'm objective. I'm not the most subjective
of Yeah, you know that. That's what they call me.
I'm waiting for you to buy me my house. Where's
your hat? I got a hat. You don't even have
a hat. But Dak, you're right, they didn't be good
(49:38):
teams this year. But Dak has proven over his first
three years, Rob that he can win big games. So
stop it with the killing Dak. And part of the
job description, this is little words of some words of
wisdom for you guys out there. Part of the job
description as a father and as a quarterback. It's being there.
(49:59):
That's part of it. It being there. No, but also
when you get there, can you play? Carson Wentz was
an MVP candidate before he got hurt. He got his
team to the playoffs. Dak will never be in that conversation.
He couldn't even make the Pro Bowl. Chris just told
me he had, Hey, only stats, he hum, you ain't
(50:21):
find down and he didn't, dudey that down. He didn't
even make the Pro Bowl. They were four and one. Chris,
you're talking out of both sides of your They started
three and oh and four and one to start the
season and they didn't make the playoffs. How do you
start three and o four and one and not make
the playoffs because you have a crappy quarterback named Dak
(50:42):
Prescott who's more fraudulent than a three dollar bill. Stop
it with dad something who's made more Pro Bowls Carson Winzer,
Dak Prescott. Carson has been hurt, so off course is down.
That's my point, Thank you, Rob Parker, No bird putty
in my hey. No, my point is just set you
up perfectly, and you gave me the victory. No, I didn't.
(51:06):
You gave me the victory. Yes, your daddy. Carson's hurt
and I like Carson. I don't dislike him. He's a
man of faith. I like Carson wins they beat. He's
hurt too much, Chris. I need you to stay healthy, Chris.
That's why I'd rather have Dak, because Dak is durable.
(51:28):
Here's the Chris, makes no sense. Dak played, DAK played
against wins in a lifetime for the division. Dak didn't
even throw a touchdown in the game. With all the weapons, Chris,
you make no sense. They had one against one. Remember
that that was the biggest game. That was the biggest
(51:54):
game four years. That was the biggest game of the year.
Dak was a no show. They had to put out
an ap B for Dak Prescott, which to forward three
hundred yards, which was lights out better quarterbacks. He was.
I hate to say it, he was lights man. Don't
laugh about the guy got held. But I'm just saying,
(52:17):
I mean he got I need you to stay healthy, Carson,
That's all I'm saying. That ain't his fault, Chris. It's
never your fault when you get injured, but is it.
You know you gotta be durable. I need different Stock
or something. I don't know. If it's not the knee,
it's the back. If it's not the back, it's the shoulder.
If it's not the shoulders, the elbum, it's not the elbum,
(52:38):
it's a concussion. Back is there? He's there, He's there
eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox, Mike, that's a
mic just he a week ago two? It ain't it ain't.
There was nothing his loyalty with the Jordan by his
Lord would have been a mic drop. No, not at all.
(53:01):
I did something I need as a Christmas present? And
did I did I say I wanted to sell from you, Alice,
I'm telling you nothing. I didn't Alex even, I'm telling
you the real Alex. Did you even know it had expectation? No,
he didn't know what was in that box. He thought
it was hard popcorn and your behaviors. I thought it
was a squash. He thought it was a fourth squash
(53:23):
in the box eight seven seven ninety nine. Five you
gave you gave Rob a five dollars gift card to Starbucks.
First of all, I've given rob Ge some sneakers. Rob Gee,
don't don't front like I haven't dropped some say Rob
g and the guy that I gave him sneakers is
(53:44):
still playing Rob g and gotten him. Let me see,
let me say, you got a pair of sneakers from
Chris and a pair of sneakers from me. Rob d
got his first pair of Jordans from me. The sneakers
you gave him he gave away to somebody because you Yeah,
this is man, Chris. I told you that five times?
Is it my faut you wear? Yes? You should know that,
(54:09):
all right? Which quarterback would you rather have? Moving for
Elijah's next? What size of you wear? Elijah? I gotta
take care Elijah too. What size thirteen? Elijah needs some jewel?
You got yours today? He wears? Well, who would you
rather have? Dak Prescott or coss It wins? Remember, fellas,
remember as the quarterback and the father part of the job.

My man, he owes me wing trucker don don't you
you know I couldn't wait to get on with you guys? Yes?
Did you hear his prediction from twenty twelve? No? No, no,
we're talking about the here and now truck a don
(55:34):
give me some props? Okay, well, I'm gonna give you
a new name. Now. I am gonna defend the goat
against the gloat golocky only after ten whoat? I like
that good load. I gotta get you a new hat. Hey,
(55:55):
you guys could send me a hat. You know I'd
appreciate it. Hold on, hey, you know what makes you
don't hang up? After? We'll get you one. Thank you.
I appreciate it. Yeah. Now you gotta be ready for
Aaron Rodgers to retire because his record was almost to
His stats were almost identical the Bradys four thousand and
four thousand, four yards passing twenty four touchdowns four thousand
(56:17):
and seventeen yards passing twenty two touchdow. The only difference
is trucker don only difference. The interceptions were way lower.
He only had two three. The i nts were the
big difference, okay, and the other one. One other thing,
hold on one other thing, trucker Don was that the Patriots.
(56:37):
I mean the Packers were eight and one against teams
with winning records, the best record in the NFL. They
beat better teams in the Patriots. Would you admit that? Uh? Yeah,
if you call the Chicago Bears are a better team. No,
what I'm saying they were. They weren't schedule No, but
that's they weren't over five. I'm talking about They were
(56:58):
eighty one against teams over five. Hun. If Brady had
those numbers, he should retire. If Rogers has him, there's
no pressure on him to win, right. Rogers also, in
Rob's own words, had a more balanced team. No this
year he's had the most balanced team I remember, without it,
doubt and Brady had the most unbalanced team. You know,
(57:21):
Sony Michelle when he was a running back last year,
this year he was a Sony walkman. Yeah he was not.
He wasn't the same last year. He was a monster
at all. Hey, don hang on, don hang on, Let's
go to Jacob in Las Vegas. Jacob, you're with christ
and Rob. Hey, what's up? Guys? Going good? How are
you doing good? You know I gotta go Carson win.
(57:43):
You're a smart man. What about what about the health issue?
You never know? I understand the health issue. But guess
what super healthy? Deck is at home Philadelphi? Thank you?
Where's Carson? Deck didn't make the playoff? Chris hold On?
And the other reason I'll take team is because at
(58:05):
the beginning of the year, if you look, I think
they played the Redskins. The first game, the Eagles didn't
get him like two twenty four something like that, something weird.
But Carson threw for the green in some yards, a
bunch of touchdowns, did it all the way until oh
my god, he didn't even have a player on the
offense that was held that he didn't have the Sean Jackson.
He didn't have um uh Zack Hurts fall while he
didn't have he didn't have Agilo was dropping past and
(58:30):
you know what, he won the last Award games and
it was unbelievable. Stop. Let's stop hold on, Jacob. Let's
stop dissing Boston Scott and Miles Sanders because those dudes
played football, did they not? Those little dudes were nice.
I'm just saying they were catching that ball out of
(58:52):
the backfield and doing damage. All right, thanks Jacob. Let's
go to Tony and DC. You're on the odd couple
of Fox Sports Radio fellas. What's good? What's happening guys again?
First off, thank you for the hat. I got it
in the mail. Thank you very much. Been rocking it nice.
That's right down in d Let everybody know about the
odd Couple. I say that to say this. Michael Jordan
(59:16):
had a commercial or he's talked about missing so many
game winners, but he kept shooting. But he's still the goat.
This pays me to have to disagree with the group
the greatest radio hosts of all time. Yeah, I gotta god,
Rob Parker. The best ability is availability and Dad is
(59:37):
always there. Dak had a great season in spite for
the Keystone Cops coaching staff that Jerry had assembled. Killing
Moore had no business being offensive coordinator. What had he
done in the league? Yeah, but wait when they my man,
Bruce sard Dad, this is a good pick up for Dad.
McCarthy's gonna really develop him and Cowboys troubling forward next year.
(01:00:00):
You're gonna do some wings. Yeah, we could do that
right now. I got you first, Tony right here, twelve
before you set twelve and four. I bet you that
the Cowboys on twelve and four. All right, mark it down.
Don't forget Jared and Nashville. You're on with christ and Rob.
What's our fellas is always joy to talk to y'all. Ya,
thank you all. Hey, So listen, um, my man, Chris
(01:00:23):
Christmas are he's my guy. You know what I'm saying.
Rob Parker's always saying off the cuff stuff, but I'm
gonna have to agree with him on there. Yeah, Carson Wins,
I'm gonna take it. I'm gonna take a guy who
knows how to make magic out of nothing. You know
what I'm saying. My mom when I was growing up,
didn't never have nothing. She always made a miracle, Carson,
did they make a miracle win Sunday? He wouldn't play,
(01:00:43):
Chris the last four Yahoo he got, he got hit,
he got cuffed, though, what about the other injuries? He
was injury free those two stop. Okay, this was gonna
kill it right here. That Prescott is right now by
on one hundred million dollar offensive one. He's better health,
(01:01:05):
thank you, thank you, career. Yeah, and when he plays,
they can't even beat the depleted Eagles team who's made
more Pro Bowls, right, don't matter. He didn't make it
this year because those numbers he had were fraudulent. It's
our question of the day. Is it time for time
Brady to retire Hall of Famer ride. We have the
answer next, but first, be sure to catch live editions
(01:01:26):
of The Odd Couple with Chris Broussard and Rob Parker
weekdays at seven pm Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox
Sports Radio and the iHeart Radio app. If it is
the I Couple company live from the Geico Fox Sports
Radio studios. It's easy to say fifteen percent of more
on your car insurance with Geico. Go to Geico dot
com or call eight hundred and nine four seven auto.
(01:01:48):
The only hard part is figuring out which way is easier.
He's a Hall of famer and just recent just recently
graduated to his own theme music. And here it is.
That's right now? Hey, O man, Rod, what's it? What's
come on? Man? You got the Shaft theme music and
(01:02:08):
we gave you whelped you up here we go? Are
you doing Rod? I'm doing good. I'm not worth of
that music, man, right right right, Hey, Tom Brady was
awful and should retire Rod. That's what I'm saying today.
(01:02:31):
So that's what Rod. I think, Rod. That Brady obviously
he's not what he used to be, and I don't
think he can carry, you know, average receivers like he
has most of his career. I think if they keep
him in upgrade the talent at the receiving spot, I
think they can still be a contender with Brady next year.
What are your though? I know what. I looked at
(01:02:55):
him as like Willie May's missing flyballs and left field
in nineteen seventy three when he came back to play
for the Mets, as sometimes you need to hang it
up when you can't play anymore. Tom Brady's pushing it well,
you know, let's let's put it this way. You know,
great players are always going to be they gonna they
(01:03:15):
always gonna be measured by themselves. The old player, Darry,
the younger guy, Tom Brady is an outstanding player. You know,
he listened. He brought six Lombardi Trophies to New England.
I think he should deserve the right to Hey, if
you want to keep playing, keep playing. Now. I think
I think you're right, Christeness. Since that if he does
(01:03:37):
come back, let's they got to give him better talent.
He's never he's never had talent at the receiving corps.
He's throwing the Julia Edelman. I mean, it's just, you know,
the one year out of all the years he's played
for this, for this organization, they gave him one Hall
of Fame type talent player and that was Randy Moss,
and he'd do for fifty touchdowns. Ridiculous. Now, now I'll
(01:04:00):
say this, he is older. Yes, he doesn't have the
same arm strength. Yes that's obvious. You have to but
that's why you have to surround him with better players.
The receiving corps has to be upgraded. The defense has
played extremely well. They need a. You know, the running
game has been inconsistent at best this year. They have
to do something if he wants to come back and
(01:04:22):
play for this franchise. UM, I think they deserve. I
think he deserves the patience for this organization to make
his own decision on his own time, and I think
they'll give him that opportunity. I don't think that Brady.
I think Brady was offended when they gave him that
bogus contract that they gave him. He told him he
wanted to play the forty five. And you noticed, Rod,
(01:04:44):
they gave him a really just a raise on the
one year contract and then basically the last two years
weren't guaranteed. He wanted a Drew Brees type contract, three
years guaranteed. And I'm telling you, I believe Brady will
leave New England. I think Brady gonna wind up in
like he's gonna go to the Chargers or somewhere like that,
(01:05:05):
or some other team where they have. The Chargers have receivers,
The Chargers have a running game. The Chargers have a
top five or seven defense. The Chargers have all the
things that Tom Brady would need to be able to
keep playing at forty three next year. Rod's from Calie,
so he's gonna go back home and he has a
house here in Yep, he has a house here. In
(01:05:27):
His house in New england's up for sale. I do
believe that, I really do. I think he should retire
because you don't want to keep looking like he's looked
the last two playoff games, Rod, no touchdowns, fumble, two picks,
it should have been three. Uh, he's looked bad. And
you can talk about this. The narrative about him, Rod,
(01:05:47):
when everybody was singing his praises, was that Tom Brady
does more with less than anybody else. And now that
he's forty two, that's the excuse for him. You can't
have it both ways. You can't you acting like he was. Listen, Listen.
I've always said that, uh, Tom Brady has been the
(01:06:10):
one quarterback in the history of this game that has
done so much with less talent. Uh, you know, and
he and he has proven I mean you guys, everybody
in the history of the game has to understand that.
Listen to the highest draft pick at the receiver position
is his past year. Yeah, but they played in the
act least when it had five or six wins every
(01:06:33):
year to start the season before made. But I do
say this, he's not the same guy. And if he
does want to come back, um, you know, I wouldn't
be I'll be extremely surprised. Put it this way, I'll
be extremely surprised if he left New England. I know
his house is up for sale, but he knows he's
not gonna He's not gonna live in New England when
(01:06:54):
he retires. He knows his time is coming to an end.
But if he plays one more year in New England,
they just got to get him. Listen, they have to
do something in free agency to get him, uh some receivers,
to at least go down with some style. Um. So
I understand what he's thinking about. I know in his
mind he wants to play another couple of years. I
(01:07:15):
don't think he has a couple more years. I think
he has one more year's file. I mean to play
at the level he wants to play at. I think
he has one more year. I think he's gonna do
it in New England. I think Robert Kraft wants him
in New England. I know they didn't give him the
the you know, the money that he wanted, but I
still think that they want him there and they want
him to make that decision to be in the papers
for life. And you notice, Road, they never paid him
(01:07:36):
like like the top quarterback his whole career, Like they
never gave him. Well, he didn't want it. I think
he's looking now the way that they did him at
the end, you know what I mean, Like that should
have been the big payoff at the end. They could
have still given him the money. Right his his wife
makes so I got it. I get it. I mean
(01:07:57):
he's well off. And listen, at the end of the
day when he goes in retirement and everybody's not gonna say, well,
he had that big contract. Everybody's gonna say, listen, he
took six Super Bowls and he brought six Super Bowls
to New England. He's one of the best quarterbacks, if
not the best quarterback to ever play in the National
Football Like I know, the rules of change in his
time frame, but and he's probably arguably the best quarterback
(01:08:20):
who's done the most with the least amount in his
throughout his career. The Hall of Famer Rod Woodson joining
the Eye couple. Rod, what do you think of the
Cowboys hired Mike McCarthy. I think it was a I
think it was a solid hire and a sense that
you know, it's gonna be his offense. Now, the question
would be if he changes the whole offense to a
(01:08:43):
West Coast offense, that's not who Dak is. So that's
that's the first thing. I just don't think that's who's
gonna who Dak is. DA that's a timing offense. I
think one thing he's gonna do more of it will
be more discipline. I think that's gonna be a good
thing he's agree with. He's gonna be on his guys
to do the right thing. Um. You know, if they
(01:09:06):
hired Mike Nolan, which which I thought I heard as
a defensive coordinator, then I think Mike is gonna be
like Mike is a you know, he's gonna die his eyes,
he's gonna cross his team, he's gonna do everything the
right way. He's gonna make them you know. I think
they're gonna be a little bit more exotic in what
they've been in the past. And I think that I
help that's that defense because they have so many athletes
(01:09:29):
that just play robotic. I think it's it will help
them in the long run. So it's not a sexy hire,
but I think it's a solid hire just for the
fact that it's going to be more discipline. There's gonna
be more rules set for the players. And I think
with that being said, since they already have so much talent,
that's gonna lead to a little bit that's gonna lead
(01:09:51):
to more wins. Aren't they a contender next year's super
Bowl contender? I don't know if they're a super Bowl
I don't know if they're a super Bowl contender. I
I mean if they played to their talent, yes, I
mean depending on who they keep. Do they keep Coop?
I mean, you know, there's a lot of question marks still.
Who's gonna be there? All those free agency they state
that are coming up, So if the question is still
(01:10:12):
there for them about all the talent is going to
be there or not. But I think they're gonna have
more wins. I think they're gonna do. I think at
least they're gonna be in a double digit wins. Who
they they have, They have a lot of talent. They've
always come shy on that, but I think they're gonna
be in double digit wins. That that gets them to
the postseason into the Super Bowl. They got a great opportunity, right,
we got less than a minute. Chris and I had
(01:10:34):
another argument about Chris said he would rather take Dak
over Wins in the lifetime Carson Wins because because he's available.
But when they played each other, when they played each other,
he's gonna knocked the guy for getting hurt. All I
know is that Dak lost and didn't even score a
touchdown against Philly when the game really mattered and the
(01:10:55):
division was on the line. But who would you take
out of those two? Oh? Thank gosh, you know I
I would is being there that I like both of them,
but I would probably take Carson Wins. Yeah, that's coming
from the Hall of Famer Chris, just for the fact,
you know, when they're both healthy and they both played
(01:11:16):
their best. I think Carson is just a better quarterback overall.
I just better. You know, Zack's probably a better overall athlete,
better leaders and intangibles. I think. I just think that
Wins has just played well when he's been healthy. I'm
not saying I'm I'm saying if they both were healthy,
they see that's my best. But that's part of the
(01:11:37):
argument right, No, but just talking about I don't know
if he's gonna be there. He was healthy all years.
I agreed that Carson is a better passer of the football,
no question about that. But I just look at the
intangibles and part of those being health, and I would
take that. I mean, you're right about that. I mean
you listen, the best availability or the US players is
(01:12:01):
being available to your teammates and your team. And he
struggled being healthy. Yeah, it's just like justlike you know
in the game where he got hit in the back
and you know, he got he got he got deaned.
He was put out in that in the wildcard round.
So that is a that is an issue at hand
for the Philadelphia Eagles. But that's a that's a great
(01:12:22):
point to bring up that. But I'm just saying, if
they're both healthy, if they're both playing at their best,
I think I would take Curson. All right, all right,
there it is the Hall of Famer Rod Woodson, You're
the best Rod, thank you man, sending him out with
his theme music. All right, all right, piece, it's the
hottest radio game showing the country. Sources say his next
(01:12:44):

Rob Parker weekdays at seven pm Eastern four pm Pacific

it's time for sources say check, check check. Sources say
(01:13:08):
these two have been covering sports for nearly three decades
a piece. I will say this, Let's put the big
Jay journalists to the test. Its sources say, yes, Sirtist
sources say of the Akaba Fox Sports Rady, We'll do
this every single Monday, where we put Chris and Robs
one hundred and forty seven years of combined journalism experience
(01:13:28):
what to the test to find out if they can
tell the difference between a good source and a bad sort.
Now you know why I'm so good at picks because
I've been around so last Right, I'm like Chris Boussar.
Now all these stories sound a little bit real, though
us sound a little bit faked up to you guys
to tell me which sources are good. So let's get started.
Story number one. My sources say that former NBA vet
(01:13:49):
turned rapper Booby Gibson. Booby Gibbs just released a hip
hop lullaby album for babies on his Spotify account. Chris,
and my source is good. God, I mean that sounds crazy,
but I know Booby raps and he is a smart guy.
Was a good Chris, Yes, true, it's somebody else. I'm
(01:14:13):
gonna say false. You sit on a throne. Yeah, let's
just stop the show. Is I'm tired to do? To
see you? Chris? Rob Parker, Chris story he took a
beating in twenty nineteen. Snoop who did that? That was Snoop?
That wasn't Bob not Christ. Story number two. My source
(01:14:36):
to say that Clippers star Lou Williams said he named
his newborn baby six s y X in honor of
him being a three time six Man of the Year.
Rob Parker, my source is good. I thought it because
I thought it's because he had six girlfriends at one time.
Let me see uh yeah, two though true. I'm gonna say, yes,
(01:14:56):
that's true. Oh, chrisy that with too much conviction. Then
Rocker piggyback. Story number three. Sources to say the Akaba
Fox Sports Radio. My sources say the Adrian Broner admitted
that he sent a d M to a sixteen year
old rapper named bad Baby, asking her to text him,
adding quote, I fall Instagram for not having people's ages
(01:15:18):
on their profile. Roba. My source is good. Yeah, that's
true and he sounds ridiculous a sixteen year old girl? True?
Oh damn it all right. Rob Parker up three stories
to two over. Christ We sar sources to say. My
(01:15:38):
sources say that LaMelo Ball has pledged to donate one
month of his National Basketball League salary to Australia wildfire victims.
Christmas source is good. False. Yeah, I don't see that either.
I'm gonna say false. Oh really a rare good story
(01:15:58):
and you guys think it's false? Wow, come on now,
I thought he and uh, never mind, I was gonna
say something. I'll let leave it go. I'll leave it there,
all right. Rob still up to read it too. Speaking
of that Australia fire, former UFC star Page van Zan
has agreed to send nude photos of herself to anyone
who donates at least one hundred dollars to the wildfire victims.
(01:16:21):
Robin re source is good. One more time, she's donating
a hundred bucks or excuse me, she's sending news to
anyone who don't donate one hundred bucks to the wildfire victims.
Everybody's giving away money while the fires. Uh sounds good.
I'm gonna say false. I think it's true. Er stopping.
(01:16:50):
Where's the referee throwing the towel? Chris? Just stop, man,
Come on, I'm worried about you. You right. This is
totally different from last because I was doing the spiking
last show. That's last show. It's about now. The super
Bowl Hangovers twenty twenty is about raw Bok by DJ
(01:17:14):
like you did. You won't leave. Be surprised if Alex
whispering the answers in your ears. So, oh my god,
is this hello? Chris? I couple just can't believe that.

the bottom of the hour. We will be joined by
Ben Lieber Fix Sports football analysts also the KFA in
Vikings sideline analysts, so he'll be able to give us
all we need to know about the Minnesota Vikings and
they're big upset of the New Orleans Saints. That's the game.
That's the one game this weekend. I got wrong, you know,
(01:18:18):
I took yeah and you got the Seattle. What's the game?
Made you think Philly was gonna beat Seattle? They only
lost by eight? Chris One, like they got ran out
the building with the backup. It wasn't that bad. I
mean it's an eight point game with your starting quarterback
now playing. Okay, So Seattle didn't impress me, Like, I
(01:18:38):
give you the name moral victory, but theyin't know more?
What did you about more? I'm it's wus. This is
the playoffs. I told you that you want to feel
good about your Eagles because they only lost by eight, No,
but feel good. But my point that you can't knock them.
They lost their starting quarterback and you're acting like they
got run out to joint. Didn't get run out to join?
(01:19:01):
Who was at home? What where they where? They play
the game. No, but it doesn't matter, Chris. I'm just
telling us matter. You know, at at home without your quarterback,
stop it. That's my point. And you know what, Miss
Carson was there and they had a chance, they had
a chance to tie the game. They were down at
the six eight yard line whatever it was when they
gave up the ball on down. Do you remember that.
(01:19:22):
I'm gonna I'm gonna come up with a new nickname.
The vote the most the mimium vote, the most moral
victories of all the time. That ain't me. Well, you
know who else didn't get a moral victory? The Patriots
and and you. I'm gonna let you gloat for a
little bit. This is like I'm gonna let you and
then I'm gonna shoot it down. Call me Hurricane Chris,
(01:19:45):
because I'm about the rain all over your parade. So
go ahead and celebrate. I'm just telling you prepare for
the wind. Yeah. And that's the best part about it
is finally we saw Tom Brady fall off a cliff.
We saw the wheels come off the bike. Tom Brady
(01:20:06):
was awful. I don't know why people are trying to
make excuses for Tom. They won twelve games. You remember
they were eight No, remember the forty point game. Now,
all of a sudden, damn didn't have anybody? Isn't that fit?
And blame who's he throwing to? There's nobody there. Before
the season started, they were saying that Ed't woman was
(01:20:26):
going to the Hall of Fame. Now all of a sudden,
to buy you and Chris you all involved in that,
all you guys, you guys kill me. Famer. Tom Brady
is washed, acid washed jeans. He's done. Why why won't
people believe that? And you know what, at first I
thought it would be a good idea. Go somewhere else
(01:20:47):
and you know, and and try to win a Super Bowl.
Get on hit your wagon to a good team the
way that Peyton Manning got that cheap championship, you know,
like Brady could do one more. And then everybody was say,
see it wasn't Bill Belichick, it wasn't about Tom Brady.
All right. Now, after watching the Super Bowl with Tom
Brady and this last game again for Tom Bowl, No,
(01:21:11):
but Tom Brady played awful, and I'm convinced now more
than ever, Tom Brady should step aside, retire, resign, step down,
move out of the way. Give somebody who's younger and
and more mobile and who has a stronger arm, and
(01:21:34):
give the people of New England a chance to win
with somebody else like a Teddy Bridgewater. Tom Brady should
should retire enough. It's all over. Okay, we've seen this,
We've seen this act with people. Just give it up, Tom,
give it up. Now. The nine year olds like River
(01:21:55):
from from Kentucky might be impressed that right with prognostication,
like Rob, Rob is tooting his old hole. Chris before
the season chest like he like he did something like
Kip Bayless. Let me go back to two thousand and twelve.
(01:22:16):
Why we're going back's talking about today? FS one existed
in two thousand and twelve. Skip Bayless, Chris Bruce are
Rob Parker. We all were on ESPN. Jason Whitlock may
have been there at that time. Who knows everybody. We
were all there. Colin was there, Colin Cowher was there.
(01:22:38):
And here's Rob Parker or August seventh, two thousand and twelve.
Time that's gone cool outs the metal. It's microwave take
with the on cover of quoting you here he's on
the down side of his career. I want you to
say that as he turns thirty five, Tom Buddy's on
(01:23:00):
the down side of his career. And if you ask
me if he'll ever get to another Super Bowl, I
have one answer, No way, no how. I'm a hurricane
Chris raining all over your parade. Rob Parker, that doesn't
mean that wasn't since you made that prediction. Tom Brady
(01:23:21):
played in four Super Bowls and one three of them
was the ship with this narrative? Was I right? I
made some great prediction. I stepped out on the limb.
I did the guts. I saw what nobody else saw.
You saw nothing. You saw nothing but the same old,
(01:23:41):
tired narrative that you've been kicking for the last eight years.
This is a totally different prediction because this year I
said that they wouldn't even I just said that they
wouldn't get to the Super Bowl. I said, I said
they wouldn't even get to the AFC Championship Game, when
normally all it takes is when they win the division
(01:24:02):
and they get a buy in the first round. It
only takes one win to get to the AFC Championship Game.
So skip Bayless, who you just heard on that other
hot take from back in twenty twelve, bet me this
year before the season started, and he bet me dinner
at mister Seeds. You've been there, Skip took you there,
didn't it didn't he That's a high end restaurant in
(01:24:23):
Beverly Hill. If you had told me at the beginning
of the season that the Patriots will lose in the
wild card round, then I give you some love. Then
I pat you all. It's the same thing, Chris, not
salute you what I said. They wouldn't get to the
FC Championship game. That's not the same thing. Why because
(01:24:44):
next weekend is not the championship round. So that that's
the difference for you. That's a big time for That's
that's guts, that's goods. Well, I wouldn't think that they
won't even beat it in They won't. They will lose
Chris in the first round of the playoffs. That would
have been guts eat. But they would a forty two
year old quarterback that they didn't give him any receivers. Oh,
(01:25:05):
they're gonna not gonna get to the AFC Championship game.
And you want kudos, Yes, I want props. Nobody else. Hey,
my Twitter was on fire in fuego there that don't know,
and that you've been predicting this and you know every
single year since two thousand and twelves. Let me tell
you they were. They were bowing down. They were like,
(01:25:27):
Rob is the goat when it comes super, when it
comes to I would They were doing this on Twitter.
I saw the video. They were like, Rob is a goat.
He predicted that the Toronto Raptors were winning six. He
predicted that the Browns wouldn't make the playoffs. He predicted
(01:25:48):
that the Steelers wouldn't make the playoff, that the Chargers
would make the Super Just my moment of your your
moment video, you forfeited your moment in twelve. You said,
no way, no how, Chris, You're sopit, stop it. I
was gonna let sleeping dogs lie, Rob Parker. I wanted
(01:26:10):
this to be your day. I wanted to pat you
on your back. I wanted to give you something love.
But your win too far as usual. All right, let's
just move on because you're not gonna let we'll talk
about another forty year old quarterback who's also a shod
wa Let me but let a bowl around Tom Brady.
(01:26:33):
He should not retire if he wants too, fine, he's
earned that right. He should retire. But I say the
New England Patriots should bring back Tom Brady and upgrade
the receiving corps. Go all out to get ob J.
You bring him in there, you bring some talent in
there at the receiving position, and I think you're still
(01:26:53):
a contender. Tom can't get. Now, there is another forty
year old legendary quarterback who struggled again layoffs car weekend,
and that is none other than Drew Brees. He had
(01:27:15):
twenty six for thirty three, so far, so good. Right.
You look at that like, wow, that sounds great, seventy
nine completion, but he only threw for two hundred and
eight yards. Two hundred and eight yards, one touchdown, one
interception and the fumble. And I'm not gonna sit here
like maybe some other people and say that Drew Brees
(01:27:36):
lost the game for him, lost the game. What happened
but that fumble as they were marching to take the lead. Oh,
it was devastating. So here's what I say, Rob, not
because of the fumble, but just because I see the
handwriting on the wall. Drew Brees does still have a
(01:27:56):
little bit left he's still a you know, I'm not
left than it might have more left than Tom Brady.
But if I'm the Saints, I would move on. And
I would just because Drew's a free agent, so you
don't have to cut him, don't have to do anything embarrassing.
Just let him go, let him walk away, and let
(01:28:18):
Teddy Bridgewater take over. You were five and old with
Teddy Bridgewater. Because here's the thing. Drew's not gonna get better.
And when he's been at his best, you won one
super Bowl great, but you've also struggled. You've also lost
the last three years in the playoffs with Drew a
better version of Drew than you probably get this year
(01:28:40):
or next year. So that's what I say, Rob, give it,
turn it over to Teddy Bridgewater, and let Taysom Hill
be the backup, you know, and come in and do
his his unorthodox thing that he does. I just think
the time is coming. I think if you remember Chris
even last year with the bad call, they got the
ball back, yes, and Drew Brees wasn't wasn't able to
(01:29:01):
do anything. And I'm just if you look at that game,
you go, you know, he really wasn't great in that
game either after that bad loss to Dallas last year,
you remember, yep, that's when everything went inside. He struggled
at the end because before he was gonna be the MVP.
You remember, he played so well and then all of
a sudden it was it went down the crapper And
I'm just looking at it now and I would move
(01:29:22):
away from him as well. You gotta get younger, You
gotta get these guys. They're trying to play until their
fifty years old, forty some our years old. You're asking
for a lot, and the way that these players are
moving around and what's happening, you're just setting yourself up
to be bad or to get hurt, and you don't
want to do that. He's done, he'd be set records,
he's got a Super Bowl. Chris, what's love? What's love?
(01:29:45):
Let me ask you this, what what do you think
about Drew Brees. Now, he doesn't create the buzz that
pay or I'm sorry that tom Brady would. He won't
put as many people in the stands as tom Brady would.
But what about the Chargers looking at him? Only if
they miss, only if they swing and miss on Tom Brady.
(01:30:08):
So you would rather have Brady with the chargers than
Drew because yes, because remember that's trying to sell a
new a new stadium. All of a sudden, you'd have
a ton of at least people would go to the stadium.
And yes they would. And who would be the who
would have the chargers uniform would be right the jersey,
(01:30:29):
Brady's charger jersey would be in freego. They would. I mean,
I'm not sitting here telling you that Brady wouldn't move
the needle there, Chris, he would more so than Breeze.
And I'm not saying that if you can't get Brady
or somehow he wises up and decides that he's going
to retire and do the right thing. You know, Spike
Lee said it, Brady, do the right thing. Step down, retire,
(01:30:53):
go retire. Okay, stop it already. We saw your act.
It's a tired act. And I know people saying dopey,
disrespectful to time. Tom Brady's had a great career, so
many things have gone his way. He's fortunate. Sometimes you
gotta know, like you want to want to end on.
Here's the problem. Though you said that eight years ago,
(01:31:15):
it wasn't that long ago. Through you chuse today is
the sixth of January. It's not a whole year. So
just if you want to say seven seven, six and
a half, we say you said August of twenty they
graduate from college. Now, I mean, seriously, I think I'm
not so sure. I want to check that tape. You
(01:31:36):
think they dubbed my voice or something on there. I'm
not positive that didn't even sound like skip. I think
there was something wrong with that tape. I'm positive, I'm
sure eight seventy seven ninety nine eight seven seven nine
nine six sixty three sixty nine. You're turning the way
in Should the New Orleans Saints move on from Drew
Brees will continue the conversation with you. Next, it's The
(01:31:58):
Odd Couple of Fox Sports Radio. Be sure to catch
live editions of The Odd Couple with Chris Brussard and
Rob Parker weekdays at seven pm Eastern four pm Pacific
on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeart Radio app. You
are tuned into The Eye Couple with Chris Brussard and
Rob Parker, and we're gonna let you weigh in on
(01:32:18):
Drew Brees. Both Rob and I say the Saints should
let him walk. He's still got a little left in
my book. Bridgewater, you got to see that for five
games and you beat some decent teams that you can
you can keep this train moving with Teddy Bridgewater. So
I think it's it'd be wise for the Saints to
(01:32:38):
do that. And I think other teams are gonna go
after Bridgewater lose him, and then I don't know if
Taysom Hill I like, Look, he was great on Sunday,
but I don't know if he, you know, is ready
to be your full time starter. Maybe you know, with
(01:32:59):
Lamar Jack, you get some inventive offensive coordinators out there
that might try to do something with him. But I
would go with Bridge Rider. Let's see what you think.
Eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox ros CD. I
hope I said that right. Ros CD in Detroit sounds
like one of Rob's old would you stop connect? What's up?
What's up? Man? You know Rob's up? Hecki naw man. Hey,
(01:33:22):
let's check this out. Chris, all right, man, you're my
cousin man. When it comes to this political talk, mean,
when it comes to this sports talk thing, I am
on your team, brother, real talk, man. He's just mad.
He's just mad because Detroit he got a feelings hurt
because I told him about the Detroit teams and he
didn't want to You can, I can I finish? Chris.
(01:33:43):
I am on team Chris and Magic Johnson. I am
on that team. And guess what, hey, Chris, you can
be Superman and I can be a mixture between the
Green Lantern and the Marshall Man Hunter. And we are
fighting the forces of evil of Rob Parker and the
and the Empire and his cronies and we will take
those guys down. Wow. I like it all right, glad.
(01:34:08):
So here's the thing about Breeze. I believe Breeze needs
to stay, but I do believe that they need to
put Teddy bridgewatermore in the mix, meaning that I think
it should be some type of two tier quarterbackers situation.
Believe I always believed in a two tier quarterbacker system
because I think it may make the game more beautiful
and more exciting and things of their nature. And like
(01:34:29):
I said, Chris, I am team Chris and Magic Johnson
all the way. And then you know, Rob got mad
one day when I called the Nach. I knew he
had an attitude. I knew you. I knew he had
an attitude about something day. Yeah, Johnson, and I was
spot on about magic. You want to spot on. I
said you should throw away wet blanket over magic statue
(01:34:50):
and you got mad. It's all good. Thanks for calling.
Let's go to Brian and California. Brian, you're on with
the Chris and Rob the eye complemos like you do tonight.
I think the Saints they gotta move on. Um, it's
sad because you know, I'm watching all these guys that
I was in like junior high when these guys first started,
(01:35:11):
and you know it's coming, it's coming to that time
where their their careers are up. And Brees just you know,
he's showing, he's showing he's getting old. Bridgewater could have
pretty much did the same thing he did in the
first half, and you know in the playoff game he
didn't really do much. And uh, I think it's just
time to move on. He's gonna be a free agent
and they got Bridgewater. They gotta Taysom Hill. I mean
(01:35:33):
the Patriots can't say that they don't they don't have
anybody to could pick up Teddy Bridgewater. What do you
mean they don't have anybody? He's available guarantee They get him,
But I'm saying he's available. He's a free agent in
New Worter. You ain't got him. He's free, No, you don't,
Thanks Brian. How about Patrick and North Carolina. You're in
(01:35:56):
the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up Patrick, Rob?
I guess I'm one of your so called cronies because
I'm with you one hundred percent. So here's a little
something for Chris and his super friends. Yeah, like turnout
the lights that Don Meredith would say, turnout the life.
The party is over. The Patriot dynasty is no more.
(01:36:17):
Out the light. The party's over. Old man Brady is
done for sure. Now with that being now, with that
being said, getting today, In fact, Rob did say it
eight years ago. Hey, you know you're like all the
other Patriot fans. You want to relish on the past.
Now this is today. Yes, Dave Brady is sitting at
(01:36:38):
home now. With that being said, going on to Drew Brees,
I think they were to let Breeze play at least
one more year with the Saints, and if they don't,
then Breeze could go ahead to retire. He's done everything
that he a quarterback could do. And with the comment
of him going back to San Diego. Why would he
want to go back to a team that let him go,
(01:36:58):
that gave up on him. It's true, or Philip Rivers
and look what he did. Yeah, but I sometimes I'm
with you. You know you remember that, And they didn't.
They didn't want to keep him around. Thanks for the
call and to support my man, Patrick and North Carolina
didn't want you years ago. Look at that? Why wow, wow,
(01:37:20):
Joe years ago? Did I thank you? Guys? I love
your show. Thank you Joe. Yeah. You know there's another
issue with both of these quarterbacks is that health issues
you get injuring your forties. It's way worse than your
twenties and thirty. They out over time, they got enough
(01:37:42):
money they could play with their grand children. Yes, and
also I wish y'all talk about Derrick Henry. I mean,
if Derrick Henry plays like that, they could beat any team.
I'm not saying they'll go to Super Bowl, but if
he plays like that, if there Henry was a man
and no doubt a mind he has been all years.
And Joe, when you when you can control the ball
(01:38:04):
and run the football like that, you have a chance
to win. And your quarterback then hurt. You nothing from
tam seventy two yards of Earl Campbell the way he ran, Yeah,
I mean he broke and that was impressive. It was
a franchise record for yards in the playoff game. Considering
(01:38:24):
you had Earl Campbell in that, it's amazing case. Remember
that were the old Houston Oilers, Chris and San Diego.
You're on the old couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's
going on, y'all? How you man? Oh oh man, Rob?
How many ells are you gonna take from Chris Man?
What hell I think? Questioned Chris all year. What radio
station are you listening to? Chris? Let him, don't let
(01:38:48):
him shout you down, Like Chris, what are you talking about? Takes?
You was wrong about? When you was wrong about that?
Was wrong about? Way talking about takes? What he had
a pigs Now he's saying that's talking about Chris has baby.
Chris has been a bad year for you. Chris, don't
even Chris can't even pick the NBA right. He had
(01:39:08):
the Lakers going to the playoffs. Lebron got I don't
want to hear about Carson got hurt. It was from
That's why really lost, because Carson got hurt. Chris picked
the Warriors too to win the championship. Could Steph stephe win,
Stephie Clay injury defil get a chance to do his
thing now that Katie ain't there. And I told everybody
(01:39:31):
no KD, no title. And I was right, Katie. It
was no Clay. No I don't play. He didn't no Clay.
If no Clay, don't wait. I told you that too.
If they had Clay, they would have won. No, they
wouldn't ever stopping on the sidelines. They would have stop it.
You stop it, Chris. I feel bad for you just
because your name is Chris. Don't follow Chris Bussar. Chris,
(01:39:54):
Chris has issue call anytime, Chris anytime. Who is that
your cousin from San Diego? You tell I have no
family in San Diego. You lived everywhere else Rather my
spiells see listen to you. You got you old. You
want to be a stand up comic and you're still
in my material. Stop it. It's time to start looking
at the Vikings as a legitimate super Bowl. And I'm
(01:40:17):
gonna do it. I I've decided for a year now
I'm gonna I'm gonna do the stand up. I'm gonna
clean up the routine. I'm going to do it. In
twenty twelve, when Rod Parker puts his mind to something,
he does it. You know, Antarctica, he did it. He
wanted to go into Golden Girls Cruise. This is the
one thing you have clearly not put your mind to it,
(01:40:37):
because you've been saying this since we were doing weekends. Seriously,
I don't I don't think you're doing it. I'm gonna
do it this shield, I'm gonna get the ball rolling.
I'm gonna write my material just like your predictions in
twenty twelve about Tom Brady, same thing, same thing, do it?
Do it? Already? Talking about twenty twelve? What about today?
What about this today? Last month? This Folk season? Teas

Before we get to Ben, you did predict this game?
(01:41:44):
All right? Ben is ready? I was gonna give you
some love, but Ben is here, got time for a
little love. I picked this game, right, all right, Ben Lieber,
Fox Sports football analyst k f A in Viking Sideline Analysts.
You can follow him on Twitter at Nacho liber That's
Nacho Ellie b E R. Ben. Welcome to the odd couple.
(01:42:04):
What's up? What's up that you handing out love right now?
What's going on? I need love? I right? He did.
I picked the Saints, he picked the Vikings. He got
this one right, so I had to give him a
little love. Well, you have a chance this weekend to
redeem yourself. You say so. They so that you're that
confident that the Vikings are gonna win? Huh uh Yeah,
(01:42:26):
I'm actually pretty confident. I think they match up, actually
really well. They gonna I think they're gonna shock some
people to love their play. Well, let me ask you
this Obviously, we all saw the video of Kirk Cousins
in the locker room as teammates, you know, loving emotion.
That was awesome. And after even you know, after the game,
(01:42:49):
you saw quotes from players saying, you know how it's
been unfair that he's gotten this label. We can't win
the big game, and so on and so forth. Going
into the game, though, how much belief was there in Minnesota,
whether the organization of their players, just fans in general,
how much belief was there that Kirk Cousins would get
(01:43:11):
it done or were people really scared and thinking, here
we go again, he's not gonna play well in a
big game. Well, I think the reality is that people
were a little skeptical. Um, yeah, you're hopeful, but you're
also just two weeks removed from an absolute clunker game
on Monday night against the Green Bay Packers. What they
(01:43:33):
have one hundred and thirty two yards? It was terrible, right,
it was. It was awful, and you know, the offense
just didn't look like the offense we've seen all year.
Kirk looked very overwhelmed, and it looked like the game
was moving faster than he could process. And so look, look,
I think everybody's realistic that he There are times where
you want more out of him. Um, but I would
(01:43:54):
say this season, this season standing alone and you get
you get rid of everything else that seen. This season,
he hitting a hell of a year man, And there
was a time where legitimately he was an MVP conversation
and it didn't finish the year strong, but man, he
had he had a great season. Um. He played with
some grit and determination and h and the players y
(01:44:15):
bought into what he was doing. Yeah, I mean it was.
It was one of those moments you think about because
you could have gone the other way. Remember they struggled
the first two downs and you think, oh my god,
they're not gonna get in after he threw a great pass,
you know, to set up to touchdown and never to
set up to set it all up. What else you know?
We know Dalvin Cook? What else is about the Vikings
(01:44:36):
that make them a tough out in the postseason? What
do you like all other than Kirk Cousins. Well, I
just think that if if the offensive line, if they're
going to continue to play like that, that's gonna be
refreshing because we haven't seen all five guys played that
well through through four quarters plus really this season. So
they played i think collectively their best game. So if
(01:44:58):
that's a huge benefit, not just in the running game,
but in protection wise. UM, you clearly see I think
the challenge that defenses have now we didn't see a
lot of IRB Smith. M IRB Smith is is a
very capable guy to get some separation as a tight end.
You've got ceiling, You've got Diggs, who who are you
going to roll your safeties over in those situations? You
(01:45:20):
got Balvin out of the backfield, and then he comes out.
Alexander Madison is going to run you over as well.
So they have weapons and they have guys that they'd
like to use. BC Johnson's as a young wide receiver
that's really come on as of late. They applaud the
way he can play multiple positions and he's smart. Um.
So there's a lot of weapons offensively that you have
to look out for. Ben Lieber, Fox Sports Football Analysts
(01:45:44):
joining the couple. Ben, we remember earlier in the year
when it seemed like at least the national narrative was
that receivers were calling out Kirk Cousins. You remember that,
and Nowel and Diggs. I think both. But were they
calling him Matt like, what was really the deal there?
And they weren't even throwing the ball a lot. I mean,
(01:46:06):
it seemed like Zimmer didn't have confidence in Kirk and
wanted to just run the ball. Was there really an
issue there with doubt of Kirk cousins or was that
just overblown in the national media. No, I think I
think specifically from Diggs, he really was. I think frustrated
would just not only this season, but how this season
ended last year. Uh, there was a there was a
(01:46:28):
sideline spat with feeling on the last game in which
there was a there's a difference in how the route
was supposed to be run. I think some of that
frustration carried through the offseason, carried into the early parts
of the season, and I think Diggs, I think he
was frustrated, not specifically at Kirk, but I think it's
just how this offense was gonna run. What is our identity?
(01:46:50):
Are we a run first operation? How are we a
run first operation? And critical situations who are you going
to lean on? And then yes, there probably were times
where he felt like he was open. You know, every receiver,
as you guys know was always open and always want
the football and critical situations, and maybe he wasn't getting
some love, and so I think that he disvoiced his
frustration and in a way, I think it was good
(01:47:11):
for this football team. I think it was it was
a healthy family fight. And I everybody knows that nobody,
not all fifty three guys are going to get along.
It's you're it's ridiculous to think that everybody in the
locker room gets along and every tries to respect each other.
But I think when it looks when it comes from
a family perspective, and you're gonna have family fights with
(01:47:32):
your wife, You're gonna have fights with your girlfriend, You're
gonna have disagreements, you air those things out, you lay
it all out, and you be honest and you move on.
And I think that was a healthy thing that happened
for Kirk and for this receiver Corn, for the team Ben.
Is this a failure if they don't get to the
super Bowl or whatever? Only from the standpoint that the
Vikings had a good team. They thought that the only
(01:47:52):
missing thing was the big time quarterback. They went out,
they gave him the big money, signed them to three
years fully Auante contract, even though they won the road
playoff game and look good doing it. Do they need
to get to the Super Bowl or is this a failure? Now?
Don't I don't necessarily think they have to get to
(01:48:14):
the Super Bowl. I think they just it's kind of
it's kind of bizarre. This season's been bizarre because the
franchise in the last few years has been looking for
a franchise quarterback. They've been looking for continuity on offense,
at a productive offense, and slowly but surely, whether you
like Kirk Cousins or not, he's he's solidified that position
and he's solidified the identity of this team, along with
Dalvin Cook. Offensively. Now, the defense has been carrying this
(01:48:37):
team for the last few years. And even when I
was there, we had a really good defense as far
as we're stopping the run. But all of a sudden
that's been the weak link. And they fixed the offense
a little bit. And now our corners at times and
our secondary can't hold up, and we're too leaky in
the past game, and all of a sudden hour, we're
you know, third and manageable situations for the offense and
(01:48:59):
we can't do what we want to do um So
we're far from perfect. I don't think that the narrative
has to be that we go to the super Bowl
or bust. But clearly everybody, i mean, the fan base
hasn't had one. I mean they've been close a lot
of times. But but but the only thing Ben Is didn't.
That's why they didn't. Isn't that why they they went
(01:49:19):
out and got him. Remember they had a great defense
and everybody was talking about but what you don't have
the quarterback to get you there. So if they get
knocked out by San Francisco, how is that a good season?
To me? When Kirk cousins idea of him coming here
was to win the title, I think it all depends
on how they if they if they lose the game,
(01:49:40):
It all depends on how they lose. If if Kirk
Cousins goes against that defense and that defensive front, and
and you've got an all pro corner on the outside
and he puts up thirty points and they lose the game,
you can't put that game on Kirk. You know, you
got to look at the defense and the reason why
they lost the game. And I think that's the difference
in this season is they were teams lost more because
(01:50:02):
of the defense falling apart than the offense falling apart.
And I think, you know, again, you look at the Patriots.
Did they always have the best offense and the best defense. No,
they got to find a way to win as a team.
And that's the and that's the thing I like about
this team is I think zim has really got them believing.
They got them believing to go on the road to
the Superdome against New Orleans and win. And so they're
they're far from perfect, but they're they're jelling at the
(01:50:25):
right time. Ben Lieber, five Sports Football and was k
F a n Viking sideline? We appreciate the time. Man.
We'll see what happens next weekend. Always man, all right,
brother peace, I'm starting to think the NFL refs have
it in have it out from my New Orleans Saints.
(01:50:45):
You know, I'm from Louisiana. Yeah, no, I don't know
where you're from. Every every weekend change. I was born
in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. You're a Pelican state? A yeah?
Because what are they winning games? They actually been playing
pretty well. They won like five of their last six. Okay,
if you paid attention to the NBA every once in
(01:51:07):
a while, you might. I will once the football season
is over. All right, we will get into the rest
and the Saints. Next is The Eye Couple of Fox
Sports Radio. Be sure to catch live editions of The
Odd Couple with Chris Brussard and Rob Parker weekdays at
seven pm Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio
and the iHeart Radio app. All right, it's The Eye Couple,
(01:51:29):
Chris Brussard and Rob Parker wrapping up a Magic City Monday.
And what an unbelievable day. Oh my goodness, this was
just I've been standing Saturday. Yes, I enjoyed everything. I
really thought I stormed on your parade. I thought I
(01:51:50):
was a thunderstorm, a hurricane. All I know is when
I make predictions, I don't play both sides of the fence.
Like You're like, I really want the Patriots to win,
But what does that mean? That means I want them
to win, but I'm predicting they lose. So what what's
so hard to finot is weren't you upset? I win
(01:52:11):
against my own desire because I knew they would lose.
But aren't you upset that they didn't win. You said
you were not die hard Patriots fan. I'm not like this. Yeah,
I'm not in love with the Patriots, but I like them,
and I think it's more interesting when they're alive. I
think it's great that they want to pull against them,
(01:52:31):
and so I wanted them to win. I love I
love that Tennessee would put it on them. I love
that the Pots. This is better for the NFL. It's great.
No Patriots. We can move on and let other teams
get a shot. I love it. Well, there's also no Saints.
And look said this and I stand by it. You
(01:52:55):
don't blame the officials for a loss. Drew Brees would
the big fumble. The coverage on the last play, the
touchdown playing overtime, I thought was horrible. He did. The
defender didn't even look at the ball, had no idea
it was even coming. Bad coverage. That's said. It was
(01:53:20):
a bad call. Ry Parker the tight end who already
had about six inches and sixty pounds on the receive,
or the defensive back pushed him off. That wasn't the
most egregious foul. But when you're talking about a playoff game,
you're talking about the difference between life and death in football.
(01:53:44):
I think I gotta make that call. That's all I'm saying.
And I'm not And again, the Saints killed themselves a
few times, so I'm not blaming that. I'm did they
Was it a pass interfe offensive pass? That? Okay? Okay,
(01:54:06):
But I'm just saying, like every year, it's always the referee. Well,
I don't think they're going, you know, after the rest
like they did last year. This time what Robi, the
fans in New Orleans were throwing trash at the referees
were see, but that's not as bad as last year, right, No,
(01:54:26):
last year was that last year? But what kills me
is they they wanted the past interference to be a
reviewable thing this year and the wind up coming up
to hurt them. No how they hurt them because they
didn't get the call. Yeah, but that I mean, no,
but that, but because that tells you all you need
to know, like it ain't automatic. Yes, because because it's
(01:54:49):
a judgment called Chris, That's what I'm trying to say. No,
that's the difference, but it's a judgment call. That's my point.
I do think they should have a jud dropped and
that one might not have mattered. I guess it wouldn't
have mattered because they didn't turn. They looked at this
one and they didn't do anything about it. But I
think it was pass interference. But again, that's not why
(01:55:12):
the Saints lost. Why they lose, they lost because they
made other mistakes. Drew Brees wasn't at his best. Drew
Brees had the late fumble. The coverage on that play
I thought was piss poor. And you know that that's
not even to mention several other things. So they they
have only themselves a minime. What Alvin Kamara ran for
(01:55:33):
twenty one yards, you know, hello, stuff that hurt them.
So I'm with you on that. I don't want to
play the blame game. All I'm saying is for the
second year in the row, they suffered from a bad caul.
That's it. It's done in New Orleans. Though, that whole
thing is done. They're done. Well, what if they bring
back Bridgewater to start. I don't think that. I think
(01:55:55):
that that whole run is over. There really why they
got everybody said Michael Thomas is young camarg I get it.
If there's Teddy or Drew, I think they're still gonna
be good. Now, I don't say, I don't say, but
I'm just playing off depending on how you demand the prediction.
Now you I mean you all that with the quarterback
(01:56:16):
is and I'll tell you I'm serious, but I'm talking
about winning a Super Bowl. I think the window just closed.
I'm serious. Well, the NFC is pretty wide open, don't
you think. It's a lot of good teams, a lot
of teams on the same level, and I think they
might be there. All right, it was Rod Parker's day
sort of. I came in like a heart. RecA
