Speaker 1 (00:00):
You're on with Mario Lopez. Mario Lopez on Zoom from
the new podcast, Was it Real? Audrina Patrick, Brody Jenner,
my guy, Frankie Delgado, Welcome to the show, you guys,
I were you? Thanks for I like everybody on this
Zoom right now, full disclosure, they're all very cool and UM,
(00:21):
I think it's uh. I think it's very clever of
you to start this new pod. Nice nice title too.
Who came up with the title, Frankie? Frankie, he's not
that creative, is that right? Days the host the scenes?
Oh look at that. Good on you, Frankie. Um, congrats
(00:44):
on on the pod. So are you essentially going back
and watching every episode of the Hills? Is that? Is
that what's happening here? Yes? Yeah, it's a little cringe
e to watch, to be honest, I well yeah, because
you know you're looking back. You're in a different place
in your life obviously. But I gotta imagine there's like
a little therapeutic feel to it too, and UM, it's
(01:06):
gonna be fun. You kind of I learned, I think
from yourselves and stuff because people would do this really,
um seemed to enjoy what made you, guys want to
do that right now, Well, I think that I was
trying to figure out how to capitalize on on my
friends uh likeness like Brody and Audrina us and uh,
(01:27):
I'm just kidding. No, we were. We were talking to
a friend of ours, Jared, who came up with the
idea of like, hey, dude, why don't we do like
a little podcast with you in the Hills people? And
I'm like, what were we talk about? He's like, well,
why don't we just go rewatch the shows and like
kind of like talk about like what it was to
be there, what it was to like uh kind of experience. Uh,
(01:47):
all these dreadful moments that like everybody went like all
the crying moments that Audrina went through, just crying over
crying over Brody, Brody crying over her. Like It's just
I wanted to see the reacttions like like and get
the real right. A lot of a lot of we're
giving the scoop behind the scenes, like things that happened
(02:08):
that no one knows about, and fans are calling in.
We have a confessional at the end. It's been a
lot of fun filming with these two guys, especially I
bet and and Brodie. How does it feel, because there's
been some distance obviously between now and then. How does
it feel to watch it now? Do you feel it
holds up? I mean, you know, like like Frankie said,
Longina said, it's there's moments where you look back. I mean, honestly,
(02:31):
we were so young at that age, and so sort
of the fact that we have all that footage of
ourselves when we're that age and kind of living that
lifestyle in Hollywood and and going through that honestly brings
back great memories. That was a great time and all
of our lives. You know. Yes there was drama, Yes,
there was great time. You know it was it was
all all the emotions. So just to go and relive it,
(02:53):
it's fun, you know. And to be honest, when we
were filming it, I didn't really watch it. You know,
we were living it, so I wasn't I wasn't there
every week and watching. I just was on it, So
I didn't see a lot of these episodes to be
on I'm like looking at some of the girl drama
and I'm going, wow, bringing back So so I would
what is it about two thousand seven eight that was
(03:15):
really like the peak right when it was really on
firing right there. Who were some of the celebs you
all were running into? Because I know you you guys
were all about the club life right there. Who was
whould you used to see out and about who we
all rub nobbles with at that time? I mean I
would always see Paris. I feel like she was always out. Damn.
She've been a constant staple for like decades now. And
she looks the same too, which is crazy, like frozen
(03:39):
in time. Who else anybody else? You would? Honestly, I
feel like I feel like it was a different time
in Hollywood back then. I mean I feel like we
saw everybody everybody. You know, you see Leo, Mark Ballber,
I mean you see everybody because this is pre social media,
pre kind of and pre really good camera phones. So
a lot of these people would go out and they'd
really let the us and it was a time where
(04:01):
a lot of celebrities and stuff, We're able to go
out and be themselves and get drunk or do whatever,
and it didn't end up on TMZ or Access All
the Wood or thank god, thank you. So No, you're
exactly right the good old days right there, man, exactly. Now, Now,
what's up with l c Does she not want to
(04:21):
revisit this era? Was this like a bad time for her,
would you say? Or we haven't approached her yet, Okay,
so it wouldn't really. We would love for her to
come on though, because us three are all of us,
we all went on trips together and had the best
time when there's so many stories to be told. So
having Lauren on would be amazing, but we don't know yet.
(04:44):
I bet she'd be down for it. I think I
think it'd be uh. I think you'd have a lot
of fun. Who do who do you think? As? Go ahead, Frankie. Sorry,
especially because we're not about drama what we're doing with this.
It's all about fun and like reminiscing on the good
old days, not like the We're not trying to let
go out there and be like like kind of like
put people on the spot right exactly exactly. Who's your
(05:05):
little guy right there, Brodie, that's shoeing, that's my little man.
I'm over actually at the Kelly Slater wave branch right now,
so oh sweet, yeah, yeah, So we're just over here.
I brought my dog and my girlfriend and we're just
over here catching some waves out in the middle of
the desert. It's like a hundred and ten degrees here.
It's crazy. Where is that. It's out in Lemore. Yeah,
it's out in Lemore. So it's hot. I bet it's key.
(05:28):
It's nice. It's nice. He's not here. No, No, it's
a different group of guys and my girlfriend and I
she's she actually won that competition. So she's teaching me
a lot over here. Yeah, okay, okay, she's the teacher.
I'm mysterious. It's great. You can always learn from a
good woman. Absolutely, you're getting breaking news with Brod. You
have your girlfriend. Okay, subliminal slick right there. Okay, okay,
(05:52):
I'm not trying to pry, but we'll see how it
works out right there exactly. Hey, who do you think
has changed the most since the show originally aired? I
think I have a lot. I've just said everything I've
been through. I think we all really have thought all
about you, man. I know, yeah, like I think I
(06:16):
think she's right. I think everybody's changed in their own way.
You know. I think that Spencer and Heidi they've changed.
I think Whitney's changed. I think Lauren, I mean, everybody
is just at a different stage. In their lives. We're
all sort of approaching forty here coming up. So I'm
glad we all changed and we were still the same.
Way that'd be I'd be scared and in in my
(06:41):
what I've seen from the outside coming into these people
to all my friends here, I think Spencer and Involved
have like become like amazing couple that like proved to
everybody wrong to like really like I loved each other
and like really like fought for their love to make
it happen. And look at them now they're having another baby, Like,
(07:02):
it's incredible. They've managed. Yeah, they've they've been together now
for quite some time. Huh yeah yeah, good for them,
Good for them. They stuck it out. Yeah yeah, look
at that. Um. So that definitely was real. Oh yeah,
lot of real things on this show though. And we've
talked about this a lot of the episodes too. Yeah,
(07:23):
that's gonna be interesting to go. Now, what are your
thoughts on Paramount trying to to reboot the Hills the
next gen? Um? What what advice would you give to
the cast? That's a better question, has a lot to say, No,
what do you mean? No? I just I look, I'm
I'm happy for them. I think it's great. I think
that they I mean, like I said, I mean, I
(07:45):
think it was popped up in an interview that I
did recently. But in the beginning of us kind of
doing the new the remake of the show, which was
The Hills, the reboot, they originally said that there was
gonna be a whole new cast, and that's where I
talked about in that interview. I said, you know, because
they were like, look, there's gonna we're a new cast,
a younger cast. You guys are going to kind of
be the older generation, the o g s to come
in and and and come in and out and not
(08:06):
be main characters of the reboots. So, m I'm happy
for them. I heard that they were doing it in Malibu, though,
which is kind of I don't really xactly. I don't know.
I don't know how I feel about that. Besides that,
I mean, I'm happy for them. I think that they
should enjoy the moment. I think it's a different time
in Hollywood, and I think they should just make the
(08:27):
best of it and have the most fun they can
and making an exciting show go crazy so people watch it.
That's that's solid advice. Yeah, I don't hold back. Yeah,
don't hold back, be yourself. Who who all has kids? Now? Frankie,
you got how many kids? You have? I have one?
(08:48):
One little girl. She just turned six. Frankie just had
his Frankie just had his tenth kid, Frankie number ten.
I Mario, man, Tom, do you have Mario? I got?
I got? I got three so far. I think she
I think she's tapping out though, but we'll see. Yeah,
(09:10):
so you're the last of the Mohakens. Brody, take your time, player.
Frankie's got three kids, Yeah, exactly. My brother's got three kids,
so I will definitely come someday. I'm just sort of
like you said, Yeah, your uncle Brodie right now, Uncle
Brodie is fun. You get you get to be for
there for the best moments, and then you get to
go to the wave branch. That's the best. That's the best. Man. Well,
(09:31):
it was so nice catch up with you guys. Y'all
look great, and uh, I think this is gonna be
a fun listen. Was It Real? Premieres July twelve on
I Heart Radio or wherever you get your pods, Audrina, Brody,
Frankie think so much for hanging out, guys, look forward
to seeing you all soon. Thank you, take care you guys.
