Speaker 1 (00:00):
You're on with Mario a little bit. It's Mario Lopez
joining me down on Zoom. Emy nominated actress, my girl,
Cheryl Haynes. Welcome to the show, Cheryl. How are you?
How are you? I am doing so good. I'm doing well.
I'm doing well. Congratulations on the Emmy nomination for Curb.
Who'd you kicking with the ceremony? I didn't get to
(00:21):
see you there. You didn't walk the carpet, did you.
I didn't go to the ceremony. I only hit the
after party. One after party, just the HBO after party. Fun, fun,
good time. I had such a good time and went
with Rachel Harris and then we hung out with Larry
David and you know, just um relaxed as much as
you can at a fancy, fancy party, right exactly. Um.
(00:46):
New movie out now about Fate is a rom com, right,
it is? It is. It's it's sort of a h
I don't want to say old school rom com from Calm,
because that's nothing school about it. But you know, in
the tradition of a really fun rom com, there's romance,
(01:07):
there's comedy. Um Lewis tan I mean he does this
fight scene in it that was so fun to watch. Um,
and of course Emma Tom Emma roberts She's so freaking
cute and charming and beautiful. And Thomas Man. I mean,
it was just really fun. It's fun to watch. It
(01:29):
was really fun to be in. I Love Me A
good romantic comedy. Yeah, night, it's fun right there. Um,
what's your relationship to this couple? I play Emma roberts
mom and also brit Robertson's mom, so I'm their mom.
And uh. In the film, Britt is supposed to be
(01:51):
getting married. Britt does get married. I'm not listen, I'm
not blowing anything. Um. And Emma's character needs a date
for the wedding. It doesn't go smoothly. I'm assuming it doesn't. Um,
it shouldn't. He rom com about Fate is a title.
(02:11):
Do you personally believe in faith? Oh? Yeah, absolutely, I
believe in fate, And I also think that people really
need to, you know, pay attention to the science when
you see him. That's the thing. Sometimes people don't recognize
the signs. It's hard to read them sometimes, I know.
(02:32):
And then some people, I think pick they misinterpret as well.
They take things as signs, and it's not. You know,
I have a friend who was, but she wanted to
buy a house that was kind of out of their
price range. But she said when she was outside looking
at the house of Butterfly landed, so she felt like
that was a sign. And her husband's like, that wasn't
(02:53):
an that's that butter is gonna help with the mortgage
at is not the sign? Also the word Bad Mom's
Moms the third movie in this series. Funny title right there.
Anything you can tease us about with that, No, I'm
I'm waiting to hear myself. I mean hopefully. Uh. I
had so much fun doing Bad Mom's Christmas with um
(03:17):
Sharon Sharon kidding everybody's name just a little just enough
wrong today, Susan Strandon Hi and Christine Brantsky and uh
cast Oh my gosh. We had so much fun. So
we're hoping to to to do the next one. We'll see, Yeah,
we'll see. I love that. I saw recently you sent
your daughter off to college. Huh, oh my god, how
(03:38):
was that? Uh really, it's so hard. I wasn't expecting
it to be so hard. I thought, you know, I've
seen the car commercials where you watched them drive off
and sweet, but no, I was like in tears all summer.
And then it was fun because I did do a
(03:59):
road trip with her to the college, which was helpful
because after two days in the car with each other,
you're like, okay, okay, you've got this, Yeah I got it.
You go, I go, I'm gonna go. You stay, And
it was helpful. I'll give that little advice. Uh is
she far? Is she far away? No? She well it
(04:22):
was a one hour drive. Oh that's okay. That's not
like she could just buzz on over then. Okay, no, no,
she would have to take a plane. So it's like,
you know, it is a little heartbreaking when sometimes you
get the call and it's like I wish I was home,
and it's like, yeah, same. Was that her choice? Because um,
I would hope that my kids are sort of close
(04:43):
enough to where they can drop like not drop by
every day, but close enough they need something they can
drop by, or if I needed to see them for
some reason, I can cruise over, you know, like a
good three hour drive. That's what I wanted. She was like,
no offense, but I don't want you to be so closely.
Just come over, she said. I feel like I need
(05:04):
to move someplace else, you know, feel see what it
feels like to live in a different state, a different
city with different people. And I said, yeah, I get it. Independent.
Good for her, she's independent. Um, you got a birthday
coming up next week? Happy early birthday. What you're doing
to celebrate? Well from my thirty seventh birthday, I am
(05:27):
going to you know what I'm doing as soon as
I hang up with you, I'm going to nap A
Valley fun early celebration and well it's it's actually I'm
celebrating my other friend's birthday. But i'll probably you know,
eat some cake too. Let's be honest, absolutely nice, nice,
(05:47):
right there? What's your what do you like? A nice cab?
You a white wine drinker? I mean to be honest
with you, I like vodka. Okay, okay, but she wanted
to go to Napa Valley, so I'm going I'll lean
into the cab. Fair enough, fair enough? You have fun there? Well, Cheryl,
I appreciate you taking the time to uh to check in.
(06:08):
I look forward to hopefully seeing you in person soon. Meanwhile, listen,
you can watch about Fate in theaters now. Thanks so much,
training out, Cheryl. Thank you Mario, always good to see you.
I see you too. Take care of it, we'll see
you next time. On with Mario Lope
