Speaker 1 (00:00):
On with Mario Lopez. Mario Lopez joining me now on
Zoom actor comedian my man Craig Robinson. Welcome to the show.
How you been, Craig, Thank you, brother, I'm great. How
you doing. I'm doing well, man. I always love to
catch up with you. Last time I saw you, I
was the only person that knew the type of boots

(00:20):
you were wearing. Right, yeah, you know, I need to
write that down. Do you remember the name. It was
a fish. It's a Brazilian a Brazilian fish, like true
pacabra or something or something like that. Right, Hey, I
tripped you out that I knew that fish boot. Huh
wait wait wait was this the same boot that David
Keckner was wearing? When yes, man, Yes, see Craig. Only

(00:44):
the cool folks know this. Yeah, that's right, he was
wearing that boot. He came running down city walking them.
That's how I knew the name of the boot, the
type of boot that Craig was wearing. He tripped out
when he looked at me, like, I'm so glad that
that finally got solved. I thought you would just the
smartest dude in the universe. I'm like that, he says,
knows something about everything, well a little about everything. No

(01:05):
expert on nothing, though, um, congratulations on the new show
man killing it on Peacock and you are, in fact
killing it For those who may not be familiar, what's
the what's the Prentice? Uh play a character named Craig
Foster who is down on his lucky Yeah, loses his
job and uh, you know his Um, he's got an

(01:27):
ex wife and a daughter that he's got to look
out for and you know, things that aren't going his way.
And he's a big dreamer and and in order to
uh then he gets an opportunity to uh to fund
his dream by by killing snakes as as an exterminator,

(01:48):
as a snake hunter literally snake Yeah, because he lives
in my you know, he lives in Miami. He's in Florida.
So they have a snake problem and it's a real
it's a real thing in real life. They have people
who don't don't have any snake hunting experiences. They'll have
like a contest to put them to win an a
t V or something just to kind of corality snakes

(02:11):
because the snakes are over overtaking the the state because
people who were buying them and then let them go
later nothing eats them and they eat everything that's wild
man snakes, alligators, Florida people gotta be on point out there.
Um are you are you working with real snaks on
set three? Yeah, every time we work with real snakes.
We've got the American Humane Society on set, but we

(02:34):
have a few episodes of real snakes. We have some
fake snakes. We have some lot c g I snakes,
So snakes on versus two snakes at this point. I
grew up with a ball constructor big work ye named
Jennifer and forgive it was. It got up to six feet.
It was good size. And my cousin and yeah, so

(02:58):
you know what, I don't know because my my mom
meant we ended up having a um my cousin ended
up having to take it because my mom was getting
too big. And then we'd be feeding the chickens and
rabbits and stuff and she was tripping her out. Started
off a little mice, but as they get bigger, as
you know, as I'm sure you've done your research, you
want you feed them, you have to feed like another week.
They're good for like a while. But it was tripping
her out. But it gets bigger and bigger, and then

(03:18):
you gotta do something with it. Yeah, exactly. So as
you gave go us to your family, these most a
lot of people just set them off. That's not cool, said,
So you grew up without a fear of snakes. Yeah,
without a fear. I've always liked snakes. I think they
kind of up with the fear of snakes. But I
didn't lose my fear until I went to Australia several

(03:39):
years ago with my band and we were we went
to animal sanctuary and then I end up having a snake.
They put one of around my neck and I was like,
that snake feels amazing and and it was just cool,
and I realized that, you know how, the snake didn't
mean me any harm. I've been misled by the Bible
and Indiana Jones. That's right, that's right. Good. That worked

(04:01):
out there, and you got over your phobia right there?
Um yea. Let me see that tom cruise pa behind
it is looking like a little little top gun right there.
Somebody gave me that pion and they gave me a
little some brail right there. I tell people that we care,
but let me see this. Look at this fool kids

(04:22):
looking like Tom Cruise. Huh when it came out Tom
Cruise in his book Chill Their Kill their Mario Cruiz.
I'm gonna called Mario Cruz. Um. Obviously, being a snake
handler is an odd job. What's the oddest thing you
ever did for money in real life when you were

(04:43):
growing up? Or honest, jeez, I don't know. I'm a comedian,
Uh told jokes, let me see? Or Predomino was one
time I was a delivery guy? How long was that?
That was in college? That was maybe a two or

(05:05):
three month thing, if that long? Alright, alright, something else
more hard, but nothing I could think of right now.
That's a fun fact. Um. You're also the voice of
Mr Shark in the new movie The Bad Guys. That's
always fun, right when you get to do some of
the r work. Yeah, yeah, I love doing the voice
over stuff. Man, you get to be you know, wild

(05:27):
and crazy and a booth by yourself. But yeah, yeah,
Mr Mr Shark Bad Guys. It's uh was doing pretty
good up there thanks to the people. Man. It was
number one twice in the broad thing. That's awesome. I'm
sure a sequel is probably inevitable. Okay, hey, come to
God's here, brother, right, Um, let's talk to the office
a little bit. Is it too soon to talk about

(05:47):
a reunion or rebooted that series with all the success? Yeah? Hey,
I have no idea. You know, people, well, clearly is
not too soon to talk about it because people have
been talking about it. Um, people are telling me it's happening.
I'm like, I don't know unless I can hear from
Greg Daniels himself. Right, I'm not. I'm not putting any
stock in it. The thing that trips me out about

(06:08):
the show is that like my little cousins and nieces
who are like twelve, thirteen, fifteen, they love it. I'm
how you like? That's I know that's not the target demo,
but how are you kids? Isn't that a trip? Like
all these kids, little kids like it's a trip. The
younger generation just grabbing on it, and that people are
like like watching the three for nine ten times through,

(06:30):
you know, they started from the beginning and just started
back over and then. Uh. And I think the pandemic
had a lot to do with it too. Man, what's
uh discovering it? Yeah? Like, you know, you couldn't go
anywhere and it was like, let me check this out. Boom.
So it's all these new officers as it's crazy dope
Craig as a comic. Um, do you find it ironic
that you probably couldn't make the office today with the

(06:51):
way things are right and some of the material you
guys got away with it so ironic? Yeah, it's uh,
there's no way but yet, but yet it's popular. It's
more popular than that is what's my point. It's more
popular consumed than ever. But yet you couldn't make it.
Doesn't make any damn sense. Didn't make any sense. But
that's that's the way of the world. I know, I know.
It doesn't make it right, though, I'm with you. Um,

(07:12):
I'm gonna put you on the spot real quickquick questions,
quick answers. All right, what's go? What's the go to? Karaoke? Jam? Uh? No?
Bottle team spirit? Really okay? All time favorite comic Richard
by Celebrity Crush, growing up Domna for Good Times, Favorite

(07:36):
TV or movie bad Guy, um my Man from Breaking Bad?
Uh gus gus R. Yeah. What would Darrel from the
Office be doing today? He'd be um part owner in
a of a professional basketball team he's ambitious. I like

(07:59):
it well mean while watch Killing It, which is on
right now on Peacock Craig. Thanks for checking in, brother,
I hope to see you soon. Good to see you, brother.
