Speaker 1 (00:00):
You're on with Mario Lopez, Tell you All with Mario
Courtney Lopez joining me now on Zoom my go to
guy for great skin. Dr Daniel Campbell's welcome to the show.
How are you? Thank you for having me? Well, thank
you for taking the time. Um listen, today we're gonna
be talking about non invasive cosmetic procedures. What makes them

(00:21):
so popular among people like Kim Kardashian or Olivia Coleman
and soon to be Courtney Lopez. Okay, Well, I think
the most popular thing of this procedure, besides that obviously
they're less expensive than a surgery, is that weeovery time.
You have virtually no downtime, and nowadays everybody had wants

(00:43):
to get back to work, get back to the routine,
and that makes this type of procedures unique and very um,
you know, desired by celebrities. What's the difference between a
non surgical facelift and a surgical facelift? Well, it's ricle facelift,
like the name said, involves obviously going under the knife,

(01:05):
going under anesthesia, a lot of recovery time, bruising, swelling,
all that that we know that surgeries do. This is
a combination of different procedures are minimally invasive, like, for example,
the lifting threats or suitures. There are suitors that we
can go through a needle hole into areas of the face,

(01:26):
the neck, even the body and lifted without having to
do an incision. And also they're combined with fillers, certain
type of fillers and obviously a botox that we all
know that smooth out the wrinkles, and that combination makes
a non surgical face lift. Now I'm kind of hiding
off camera. I'm right here, see my hand. I actually

(01:48):
need a necklift. Know you don't, don't use I'm just
want to get on my mic. Come here, come say
with me. Comes over here, come over here, just sit
over here. Oh no, you don't, and you're doing We
did a photos shoot yesterday and I had turned my
head and I've actually been telling him that and I
have no I'm serious. Um, can you explain to me

(02:11):
what the threatening process is? Is it a one time thing?
What is the downtime? Correct me if I'm wrong, But
is it like you're sewing and you could up and
you're sewing. How is there no down time from that?
There's not because we go into a space, whether it's
only fat on this under the skin and we go
right through it and the inflammation. You get some swelling,

(02:33):
very minimal swelling. And I always tell patients if you're
going to have a party tomorrow, don't get it done
today because you might get some rousing. We might get
some swelling, but definitely it's it's so minimally invasive that
visually it's done. I do it, I count my time,
and I do a whole facing four minutes, put the
anesthesia in four minutes. Four Putting anesthesia in takes longer

(02:57):
than doing the actual procedures. So once you go to
someone that is used to doing this, uh, it can
be done very quickly and it lasts about a year
and a half to two years, and you can repeat it.
I haven't. I'm forty eight. I hadn't done twice already.
I'm doing for my next one already. But it's great
because I did it on a Friday. On Monday, I

(03:19):
was working like nothing happened. Where are you located. I'll
be there in about ten minutes, since it only takes
one I'm in Miami and you're more than welcome to come.
But you don't need anything you're young. I'm beautiful. You
don't need that, That's what I'm very conservative. You're so sweet,
Thank you. But I want to talk about fillers too, because, um,

(03:40):
you know there's different kinds of fillers. Different Um. I
cannot have anything underneath my eyes because my body just
doesn't take it in. It just kind of creates like bombs. Yeah,
so what what is your favorite filler? What do you
usually suggest for people? And before you answer that, for
those men who may not be familiar, how do they
work exactly? Doctor? Okay, Well, fillers are substances that are

(04:03):
approved by the FDA, and the most popular one is
a yello uronic acid. And the yello uronic acid is
a normal part of our skin, so we haven't naturally,
so we also produce it in a lab and we
can inject it under the skin to replace volume, especially
soft tissue. We use it a lot for lips, like
you mentioned under the eyes. Um, it's a very good material.

(04:26):
But nowadays I'd like to use another type of procedure
that is calcium hydroxy appetite, which is also approved by
the FDA, and it's considered a liquid implant. And what's
the benefit of this that we can restructure areas of
the face. We can go directly to the bone and

(04:46):
we can inject a tiny bit of that filler. And
that also has the potential of stimulating collagen which yellow
uronic acid doesn't yell. Uric acid would put it in.
It looks great, but that the body of orb set
and it's gone now with this it lasted to two
years and the collagen even improves appearance of your skin.

(05:06):
And is that part of the smoothing. Yes, actually, actually
part of the value micing went to add volume as
we age. Um is part of the aging process. We
started losing volume on the on the face, on then
the body too and that is for to replace our
value for this moving we use botolium toxin or like

(05:28):
we normally know as botox, and that's the part of
that we smooth out the wrinkles. Now I need it all,
I need it all. I know there is no anesthesia
for the non surgical face lift. But is there any
preparation involved? Yes, yes, Actually I always tell my patients
avoid aspiring, avoid iboprofit or add bill, and I always

(05:51):
put them on ar nica. Ar Nica bills are great
because not only they're going to help with the bruising,
but also with the with the swelling and the pain
in and and that's pretty much it. I I always
tell patients you need to look at this like when
you go to the dentists that you know they're gonna
a little bit of needle involved, you're gonna get some anesthesia,

(06:12):
and you're gonna have you feel a little tight. But
then when you leave that the swelling goats down and
that's it. You go back to normal. Last question, doctor,
what are the risks involved with this procedure? Well, this
is this all our medical procedures, and sometimes we talk
about non surgical People assume this is something that can
be done anywhere. This should be done at the doctor's office. Why,

(06:36):
because if we put a needle through the skin, we're
breaking a barrier that's the protective barrier of the body.
And we can have an infection, we can have some bleeding,
we can have complications that even if the person that
is doing the procedure doesn't do it right, the risk
can be catastrophic. Let's stay with the filler. If a
filler go into the bloodstream, it can end up in

(06:57):
the back of the eye and the person can go
blind permanently. So it's important that sometimes I see on
social media people inject him like, oh my god, that's
not a safe area. So always ask who what's experience,
what's the downtime and one of the potential complications when
you're getting a procedure. I will never go to a
botox party. No, no, let me tell you. I always

(07:19):
tell people if a professional that respect himself would never
do anything at the house. Even my friends come to
my office and we'll do in the office. Even myself,
I don't even do it in my house because a
potential complication is anywhere. So if something happened at the
doctor's office, we can fix it, we can make sure

(07:39):
we do what we can do to contain that problem.
But at home, you don't have anything. So it Never
do a botox party. Never have anybody to day. Oh
you have some and so that will go to your house. No,
that's a big red flag that such a professional such
great advice. Don't anyone advertising on Facebook to come to
my garage. I'd see clear and I lied. Actually, one

(08:00):
last question, just quickly, what is the difference in price
between a surgical facelift and a non surgical Oh, it's
it's it's a big difference. Usually when we combine a failure,
the threats and the boat talks is it can run
about three thou dollars thirty five hundred. But when we
talk about a surgical procedure, we're talking about dollars if

(08:25):
you go to a someone with a good experience. But
we have to be a fair here. Um, this last
about a year and a half to two years. A
surgical procedure a last of totain years. So that is
something that the person who wants to get it done
needs to weigh the pros and cons. And I'll definitely
decide even the one surgery or not. That's that's aboutn't

(08:46):
And it might be something that you never you know
it's gonna it's kind of like a haircut. You know
it's gonna somewhat subside and not really really. Um, great
useful information, doctor, I appreciate your time. Listen. You can
