Speaker 1 (00:00):
Come on Mario a little bit. Y'a al mar Lopez
joined me now on Zoom the season fifteen Bachelorette, Mirrorball
Trophy winner and now author Hannah Brown. Welcome to the show, Hannah,
Who are you? I'm great, glad to be here, Nice
to see you. Congrats on the book. God Bless this mess.
That's that's that's something I say every day. You don't
(00:23):
look like you've ever been a mess though. That's a
surprising title by the title, Oh my gosh, Um, I
definitely have. I think, Um, I've had some like great
moments in the public but also like have made some
poor decisions, made some mistakes, and along the way I
really realized, even going back to my childhood, some of
(00:46):
those times that we're the worst in the moment are
actually the things that made me better. And so kind
of like going through my life and talking about the
things that I didn't really realize affected me. Um, and
you know, going on the process of therapy and like
figuring my crap out is really how I learned to
(01:07):
live a little bit better. So that's kind of where
it came from. Well, it seems like the timing is
right too, because you're now a New York Times bestseller. Congratulations,
thank you. What was the goal when you wrote it? Well,
the goal, I don't think the goal can be to
be you know, of course we all want to win
the thing. But what I've realized, um, through some of
(01:28):
my wins that looked like wins, sometimes you get the
thing and if you're not in the right place, then
it never fulfills you. So it couldn't just be to
be a New York Times bestseller, because I've done that
in the past with even Dancing with the Stars and
not been in the right place. And it was kind
of like, this is just to feel different. This was
(01:51):
supposed to make me feel better and it doesn't. So
when I was writing this book, I had a lot
of um really zations for myself that I was like,
I think this could really impact other young women and
if I can just relate to them to feel like
not so alone, not say that I have all the answers,
but um, to kind of say the things that we
(02:14):
all want to say about how we're feeling and that
we just don't know. And it gives other young women
are just women in general, the opportunity to look at
where they're at how they feel and how do we
get better from it? Um? And so when I did that,
it was so cool. I remember like when the book
came out, I thought I'd be stressed because I was like,
(02:37):
as soon as it was getting closer and closer, that's
when like all the all the like stress and anxiety
started to come back up because you're like, oh, what
are people going to think of, Like how is this
going to go? Is anybody gonna like actually go out
and get it that day? And UM, it just took
like having one person being like, oh my gosh, I
distinish your book and like it not like it was
(02:57):
so good, but like it just resonated with and I
was like, oh, I don't care, I don't care what happens.
Like I've got one person that like it changed for
the better. Um. And so when I heard I was
a best seller, it was just like it just felt
really grateful and and and the fact that you're helping
people and it's therapeutic for yourself and that's the win win. Um.
(03:20):
You included text messages from Tyler Cameron, which he apparently
found disrespectful. Is that just sour grapes? Is he just
being a hater. No, I think that was definitely I
think whatever podcast he was on had not read the
book yet and there were no text messages. There was
conversations that I like talked about, but I don't think
(03:42):
he's read the book, nor did the people who did
the podcast with him, So I think it got a
little bit um filtered through wrong um, which I get.
I think he was caught off guard because that's but
it wasn't really the case, so got it. How's the
dating life currently? Great? Um? My boyfriend Adam is amazing.
(04:03):
He's um been a really big supporter and encourager of
all the things that I've been doing. So it's been
nice to be in a healthy, stable relationship, probably for
the first time in my life. So that's awesome. And
you guys met did you meet on social media or
a dating app? Which one? Wasting app? A dating app?
Which one? Um? It was actually Hinge? I like, did
(04:29):
this all as a joke? Um? Are there? There is
there a big difference between all the day I like
Hinge and then what is there the one tender and
then ria all the I don't really know. I just
like my friend had just met somebody on Hinge and
She was like, just download at Hannah, it'll be fun
(04:49):
like and I was like, okay, whatever. We like literally
took a shot, looked a trip to Cabo, and I
downloaded the dating app and it was like all within
I was only on the dating app for like maybe
a week or so, like it ended up working out
for me, damn that quick. Yeah, but yeah, it was fun.
(05:10):
And I think because I didn't take it that seriously
how it worked out, no pressure on it. It was
just like I've already done the most like high pressure
situation dating steals. Yeah, I've already dated, like in the
craziest way so online. I mean, dating from a app
did not really bother me. I always say there are
(05:32):
no rules when it comes to love. So there you go. Um,
let's talk dancing really quick. Did you watch this latest season?
Did they get the winner right? I think they definitely
got the winner right. Yes, I definitely watched. Um. I
think I just have a whole new appreciation for the
show because I just know how hard it is and
I actually can be like, oh that frame was good
(05:54):
or oh that's actually so much harder than it was.
It just puts it in a new light for me.
I think it was a really great cast this year. Um,
but a mom was just so fun to watch, Like
from the very first night, he was my favorite of
like entertainment. He just brought something different and so it
was really cool to watch him grow. Um So I
(06:17):
think that it was. It was a pleasant surprise for
me because I wasn't sure how everybody else felt, but
we all, I guess, felt the same way that he
was so fun to watch. And what are you doing
for the holidays? Christmas? Ears? So I'm going back home.
My boyfriend is gonna come have Christmas with the family.
(06:39):
He's from Oklahoma. Yeah, so Midwest. I don't really know
that that. I didn't say. That's south right, that's kind
of yeah, not really Midwest, almost south right right above
above Texas. I think consider themselves more southern than Midwest.
I would say, so. I asked Adam, and he doesn't
have an accident at all. He think as he grew
(06:59):
up in Tulsa. Maybe. Um, but we're going to go
to my family's house for like Christmas Eve, Christmas, and
then we're going to drive up to ment this because
that's where his brother and the family is going to be. Um.
Because his brother just had two twin boys. So we're
gonna all hang out there and celebrate and then think
(07:23):
about maybe doing Nashville for New Year's. It's gonna be
like in the South for you know, a good week
and a half. It'll be great. Well, good for you.
It sounds like you're happy and in a good place.
Congrats on everything and get God bless this mess wherever
you get books, Hannah, thanks for checking in. Glad we connected. Yeah,
thank you? All right, sweetie, take care all right, bye
