Speaker 1 (00:01):
With Maria Lopez. It's up. You're on Mario Lopez joining
me now on zoom from F nine. Actress Georgiana Brewster,
Welcome to the show. To Ordana. Is so nice to
see Thank you. It's so good to see you too.
I was trying to think the last time I saw
you in was it when we happened to be sitting
next to each other on a flight? Was that it
totally what pre covid right, pre covid? Yes, see where
(00:23):
were we? Was it to New York? I think it was.
I think there was a long flight, yeah, to New York,
because then I ended up following you on social Now
I know everything that's going on in your life, and
I'm gonna fill everyone else in that may not know.
But congratulations, first of all on the success of F nine,
biggest movie so far this year. I imagine everyone's happy.
You got to be pretty proud, right, super happy. I mean,
(00:45):
it's been this WorldWind of of publicity, and we just
had the premiere a week ago, and of course you
were all holding our breath because we didn't really know
what was going to happen, right, Like, are people going
to go back to the theaters or they not, and
and everyone showed up, which is really really exciting. And
I can't believe it's been twenty years since the first one.
Um do you remember the audition for me? Or how
(01:06):
did that rule come about? Um? It came about. I
do remember auditioning for Rob Cohen, and I just remember
Rob Cohen like his note was you're too pretty, like
bring it, like make her a little bit more earthy.
And I was like, I can do that, not not
like totally lying, you know, And I'm like, yeah, dude,
(01:26):
I can I ride horses like you got, Yes, I can.
I can do anything. And then later on you're like,
oh gosh, what am I gonna do? Um? But yeah,
I faked it. I faked it. And then I got
on set and I kind of just copied what Michelle
was doing and yeah, and then here we are twenty
years later, twenty years later, unbelievable, one of the most
successful franchises ever, which is great. Is it true you
(01:47):
don't even have a driver's license though when you started filming.
I was a New Yorker, so I took cabs or
the subway or busses and and then all of a
sudden were the whole cast had to go to this
driving school and Vegas to learn how to because back
in the day it was like legit driving, we were
actually driving the cars. Now it's all blu screen or
green screen. Um, but yeah, I was. I had to
(02:10):
learn how to drive, and I had to learn how
to drive in this city, which is like a challenge
and of itself. Yeah, super scary. Um. But you know what,
driving in l A Is even scarier. Like now I'll
get on freeways. Back in the day, I would never
get on freeways. I would I would hit like map
Quest and go avoid freeways at all cost, even if
it took me like three hours to get somewhere. I
(02:31):
was like that as long as I'm not hitting a freeway.
So you're like my mother in law, I'm begging her
to get on a freeway. She will not get on
areciation from these too. It's the worst. But by the way,
now it's not freeways now it's canyons. Oh yeah, that's
a whole another thing. If I can see the precipice,
I'm like, I'm not doing it over and wait. I
(02:51):
love the idea of not having a driver's license. And
there's like a whole new generation I mean, you're you're
both of our kids are still too young, but that
just uber instead and they don't even want to drive.
And it's kind of cool because you can be on
your phone, you can eat whatever, You're gonna have a cocktail. True,
And I think by the time we're not condoning that
with our kids, No, we're not. That was more for adults.
What's your But I think by the time our kids
(03:13):
are old enough to drive, like they might be self
driving cars, right, like who knows? Yeah, you're right, Oh
my god, we're already moving toward that jets and level
we are speaking of. What of your boys was in
the movie? Right? Was Julian in the movie? In the movie?
That's great? That something he wanted to do? Does he
does he have aspirations to kind of get in this business? Yeah?
(03:35):
He does, big time. Um, I feel about that. You know,
I'm cool with it as long as I temper the
the ego part, Like I've I've kind of got to
to bring it home that. I mean, you know how
hard it is in this business and how hard you
have to work, and you've got to get up really early,
and you have to be rejected a bunch of times,
(03:57):
and so he's not seeing that side. He's seeing the
amazing fabulous, Like go to a premiere, like the Fast
and Furious set is not indicative of other sets that
you go to. Have curious set. There's a sushi bar,
there's a juice bar. Each have a giant trailer and
like Julianne like, let me take you to a couple
of exactly, Yeah, so where's my sushi bar? Yeah? Yeah?
(04:21):
How old howl are your boys? Now? Row? Row is
five and is going to be eight in September. Okay,
so we're like around the same little wheelhouse right there.
How did you survive um lockdown? By the way, where
your girls zooming time? God, that was the only really
big negative was trying to keep them educated right in
(04:43):
the whole zoom teacher that I God bless people who
choose to do that on the daily, have them hold school.
I thought about that. I was like, Wow, some people
actually like to do this. Yeah, that's oh my god,
because I find that kids and I hear this a
lot from from Like if I've got a babysitter or
like a nanny, she's they're like, oh my god, they're
the worst behaved around you. And so it was the
(05:06):
same with Zoom. It was like Jolane was like, mom, no, no,
I'm not going to do math, like there was zero respect,
whereas with his teachers, he'll he'll listen. But so, yeah,
I'm so glad. That's no, No, that's in the same.
We're in the same. That's I think how it is
with all with all the parents, even with with my
son and his wrestling and jiu jitsu. He doesn't listen
to me or not that he doesn't listen, but they're
(05:28):
not as enthusiam and someone else doesn't the exact same
thing than that. More. Yeah, I think he can think
to get away with more, which is uh. But for
the most part, you know, they were pretty busy. I
just kind of we dove into a lot more of
their activities and stuff. So we got through it, thank god.
And Mario was mousy with his own zooms. Yeah right, exactly.
I didn't stop. Um No. I didn't want to spoil
anything for those who may not have seen the movie,
(05:50):
but there is a nice little tribute to uh, to
Paul Walker right in the film of we haven't seen it, Yes,
and is this does this focus on F nine again?
For those who haven't seen it. UM really put the
focus back on the family in particular. Was that a
big central theme in this film? I think that's that's
always um, that's always a theme. I recently I went
(06:12):
to this this party on Saturday where they were like
these comedians were avid Fast fans hosted and they were like,
family is mentioned. I guess they figured it was like
forty or four times in the last nine films. I
was like, I would have thought it would be more
given given how how huge the theme is. UM. But yes,
it definitely circles back to family. And what I love
(06:33):
about this installment is that there's so many questions answered
about the past and how he came to be. And
that was really cool to find out as well. It
was Um, I saw in your I G. Two you
were cleaning up some graffiti on the poster, which was
that that was so funny. Any idea who the culprits
might be? No? And I was, well, actually, so, so
(06:57):
that's like my that's my neighborhood. So I've I quite
all the time. So I thought maybe my sister, right,
And then my mom was like, I tried to bring
it up yesterday. UM, So there was a whole. Yeah,
everyone was very very upset. But yeah, so yeah, I'm
glad I got it off though it was super offensive. Yes, yes, yeah,
(07:21):
definitely not over here. We're team Jordan over here. Also
in the works The Integrity of Joseph Chambers with Jeffrey
Dean Morgan. What is this all about? So so this
was also starring Clean Crawford, who was my co star
in Lethal Weapon. And this was a really fun film
that we actually not a fun film, a really dark film,
(07:42):
um but in stark contrast to Fast and Furious. And
we started during the pandemic and it's this awesome director
called Robert matchoi In And I just can't wait to
see it because it's a whole other side. It's really
fun to just like delve into um material where you're
just just delve into the dark side of humanity. So
(08:03):
I love it. Good for you, jo D look forward
to checking that one out. Thank you. Before I let
you go and put you on the spot with some
quick questions, quick answers. Okay, okay, it's a song. You
know all the words too. Oh hearts so big by
who who's that? What is that song? It's so big?
That one is by um. Oh my gosh. So it's
(08:25):
been redone a gay zillion times, but and my son
and I sing it in the car. You've got a
heart so big you could crush this town. Um, it's
you guys helped me out. Is this just may not
be lumin Ears they did the cover of it, but
(08:47):
it's it's written by um. I'm looking it up right now,
Spotify's Tom Petty Patty. Oh wow, okay, okay, I'm about
to check that out. Now. What's the nickname you had
when you were a kid, Gaga? You're the original Gaga, which,
(09:09):
by the way, Lady Gaga and I went to the
same all girls Catholic high school in New York. You
really never got to like, I never met her. That's
a fun fact, right, Isn't that crazy? What was the
name of the high schools uh, Convent of the Sacred Heart.
Convent of the Sacred Heart. My daughter is going to
an all girls school, most precious. There's a lot of
(09:30):
hearts and then so oh, okay, continent is Sacred Heart. Okay,
so that song is called Walls Walls. Oh, I'm sorry,
my bad. Yeah, you did a deep Tom Petty Walls
and Luminators did cover it. But yeah, it is Walls
parts so big as part of the song. So she
knows the words. She knows the words. Okay, exactly, Jordana.
Who is your celebrity crush growing up? Oh my god? Okay,
(09:53):
this is such a weird one. Sylvester's Stallone too, and
all that's fine? Bowie and David Bowie. Wow, you've got
a wide strike zone. I know that's not interesting, so yes,
(10:13):
so that's just Stallone. Really he had this like it
wasn't even a movie. It was this spread I saw
in Vanity Fair where he was shirtless and like writing pants. Yeah,
I get it. It's like how and David Bowie. H
David Bowie and Labyrinth? Have you seen Labyrinthe? You're on
your own on that one, I have, But I'm more
with Stallone and Rambo and Rocky. But okay, um, what's
(10:39):
your dream car? Um? My dream car is? I mean?
I love I love the range Rover. I just would
I would love the radio to work better, the radio
and the satellite system and all of that. So so
if we could just fix that, that would be my
dream car. Fair enough? And who plays you in the
Jordana Brewster biopic. Oh um, A lot of people think
(11:05):
Nina Gebrov looks like me, and we look like each other,
so I think she could. She could do a pretty
good job. I've never noticed that until you mentioned it.
But yeah, yeah, she's She's a sweetheart too, very cool. Well,
nice catching up with you. Hopefully we'll get to see
in Pursue. Yes, absolutely, and h F nine is in
theaters now, Jordana, thanks so much for checking in. Thank
(11:25):
you guys. Okay, take care of sweetie with Mario a
little pett
