Speaker 1 (00:01):
With Mario a little bit. Ya Mario Lopez join me
on Zoom from the Umbrella Academy and Emily and Parry.
Actress Kate Walsh. Welcome to the show. Kate, how are
you hey? So what are you hoping for? I like
that background explained the hope please. Okay, first of all,
(00:22):
that is an actual aerial view a Google Earth via
photo of a reef that the words hope. That is
an actual reef that the that Shiba has planted, has built,
constructed and planted in Indonesia and UM yeah, so I
have what I first thought, I was like, oh, that's
(00:44):
cool they wrote the word hope. No, it's actually a reef. Wow. Yeah,
so that it's really amazing this campaign. What they're doing
is they're committing in the next ten years to um
construct and re grow reefs up to like a hundred
and I think eighty five thousand square meters of reef
(01:07):
in different various locations throughout the world. In this one's
in Indonesia, they're looking at Mexico, Australia. UM. The say
shells all over the place, UM by twenty nine, so
this should all happen. That's about the size of a
hundred forty Olympic sized swimming pools in case you were
wondering what thou square meters looks like? So it's really cool.
(01:30):
I was like, what are my two favorite things ocean
conservation and cats in terms of charities? And how do you?
I was like, how what's the connection? It's my cat
and a water ski. What's going to happen? Um? No,
but it's a it's beautiful. Like I were, I'm really
excited to be partnering with them, and UM, we're really hoping.
All we want is for people to go on the
(01:52):
sheep a YouTube channel and and watch and see these
videos that it's videos of how they constructed the reef
and what they're doing, and it's really incredible. And every
time someone watches, UH, donation is made to the NGO
the Nature of Conservancy and UM. It's the first branded
YouTube channel that all of the proceeds go directly to
(02:17):
UM this project, So and no one you just have
to watch it like chill on your couch with a
cat without and you're you're you're donating, which is what
I love too. It's super easy. That's awesome, such great
work and it's it's really a joy to watch it,
you chill out, you're relaxing. It kind of eases you,
you know, into the night. Uh. Why are coral reefs
(02:39):
so important to the ecosystem for those not familiar, Yeah,
it's and this is why it's so fun to watch
the videos because honestly, it's really fun, exciting and entertaining
and it's short, so if you have an attention span
of a gnat, you're gonna love this. But exactly so, No,
it's critical to the entire ecosystem of the planet. Basically,
people just for at what's happening underneath the water. But
(03:02):
scientists say that of the coral reefs will be gone
by unless we asked, now, it's not Why is that
not good? Because all the fish go with it, all
the floor you want to go with it. That's our
food source feeds one billion people on the planet. I've
been a big I've been a big ocean conservationist for
a long long time, and so this is very near
(03:24):
and dear to me. Um. But the good news is,
and I think that we've all seen, whether you're an
ocean lover or know about it or not, like we've
seen during this global pandemic, how quickly the earth like
actually can rite itself. How nature comes back. You know,
we saw dolphins that quintessential dolphins and the venice canals
that it like the world wants to right itself. And
(03:46):
this that that Hope reef they planted that. They started
it in nineteen so in two years, just two years,
it went from five percent. That's what you're looking at.
There is fift growth and they read in in the
next two to three years it will be fully grown
fully and it will fill in and eventually will the
(04:07):
word hope will fill into a natural looking and it's
really cool how fast and already species of fish, dark
sea turtles have come back and you'll see on the video.
It's super cool. And they involve the locals in Indonesia,
fishermen and locals to build they they're called um they're
not starfish. What it's late and it's like one in
(04:28):
the morning. Now it's their mental star cages. It looks
like rebar and they're like a meter each and they
attached pieces of coral to it and then naturally grow
on and it's like farming. And so they put them
on the ocean floor and people, local fishermen and people
like float them out in boats, they snorkle them out,
(04:49):
divers plant them in and it's it's cool, man, It's
really in the world anything. Yeah, I just gotta kick
back and watch. We'll congrats on that. Yeah, it's an
important good watch. Um, let's talk about your latest movie
recently dropped sometime other than now. It's like a pretty
serious drama. What did about it was? It wasn't I
(05:11):
think maybe a little bit of comedy. It was Donal
Logan I and it was actually I was thrilled that
people got to see it. It's about just a couple
of just a couple of jungle cats you know later
in life. Um that that I have a past and um,
you know it's like a mysterious stranger Donal Logan rolls
(05:31):
into town and uh, I don't know if any of
you guys remember, but he was in the I mean,
of course you I mean, I'm a massive fan of him,
but Star Wars and of course, yeah, I mean he's
like and he was in um Donald was in the
Tower of Steve and then yeah so he um yeah,
so he's sort of the mysterious stranger goes through town
town and I run a little motel and we end
(05:53):
up having a relationship, and it's really about kind of
people who have made mistakes and of our are kind
of trying to right their wrongs and correct their past.
And yeah, it was a beautiful little film. We shot
out in the north Shore, that one on the north
shore of Long Long Island. Then there was Honesty with
Liam Neeson that also came out that Um, yeah, it
was a love story. So that was cool, very cool
(06:15):
working with some really cool people right there. And as
far as Umbrella Academy, things didn't look too good for
your character at the end of season two. Any chance
possibly coming back at season three? Or I asked, because
why not? I mean in season one I got shot
between the eyes, but I somehow made it back because
of that, you know, very resilient, very resilient. Um, But no,
(06:36):
I'm not coming back for season three. I know they're
shooting it right now and it's gonna be amazing. But yeah,
what about Emily and Parry what we see you in
season I'm glad you said it correctly. You're like the
only one. It's so much fun to say. I want
to say Emily and Paris with a little accent. The
whole done. It's great. Well it's funny because I didn't
even understand that it was at and they're like it's
(06:58):
Emily and Perry, Like, oh, Emily in Paris, and so
it's a lot of the world anyway there. I don't
know what's going to happen with that. I hear they're
already shooting. I know they're already shooting. I posted about it,
but I just heard they were shooting in Santrope and
I'm not there Mario, so I don't know what not
at the moment, but we shall see. I want to
(07:18):
talk Grace for a moment because I can't believe it's
been seventeen seasons now. I mean, they got to find
a way to bring you back for an episode. Would
you be up for it? Yeah, you know, we actually
I we talked about it. They had talked to me.
I think it was in twenty must have been twenty
nineteen when I was shooting um but I was shooting
Umbrella Academy, so I was gonna go do it, but
(07:41):
there was it was like total conflict of schedule, like
I couldn't get away. I was that's in Toronto and
I couldn't do it so then that that storyline what
they wanted to do there went away, and then I've
then I've been gone, maybe gone. So I've been in Australia.
But I don't know that they have to zoom in.
I don't know right we could do it like this,
(08:01):
you know, I'm like, she's above the earth orbiting and
we're home for you. Were you in l A Girl
New York or I was in l A for many
years and then, um, I'm back in New York. I've
got an apartment in New York from No. I grew
up in West Coast in Tucson. But I just love
New York to Arizona. I love that you're from Tucson.
(08:23):
On Tucson. It's nice, said, They're nice. I love that's
We moved there when I was eleven and so I
was there through until I was twenty one. Yeah, I
loved it. Buddy of mine wrote a show a while ago.
It only went like one or two season. It was
called Greetings from Tucson Wait Back, And it was on
my buddy Peter Murray. Yet it's so funny he's from
(08:43):
Tucson as well. Um, before I let you go, I
want to put you on the spot. Quick questions, quick answers. Okay, Kate, Yeah,
what is your TV recommendation right now? Outside of a
project you're in? Shoot? I mean, what have I been watching?
You know? The only thing that pops to mind? Everybody's
already seen it as Queen's Gambit. Okay, that's all right. Yeah,
(09:06):
what's a song? You know all the words too? Oh
my gosh, probably um bye bye Miss American Pie. Okay, well,
Don McClain, yeah, celebrity crush growing up, Sean Cassidy, there's
no hesitation there, Okay. And who do you him? And
(09:27):
Parker Stevenson, though, I was like, you know what, I'm
in fourth grade. I got an allowance. We're gonna get
both posters. I love you guys, different ways, solid investment
party boys. Who do you cast to play you in
the Kate Walsh biopic? Oh my gosh, wow, I can't
even imagine. I don't. Do you have suggestions? I was
(09:48):
thinking as I asked, I was thinking, mm hmmm, let
me think. Let me think. She's gonna be hot, she's
gotta be funny, is challenging, she's gotta love the ocean
and cats and cat I'm gonna I'm gonna have to
get back to you on this. Uh, you know, I
don't even know who would it be? Who are the
young in these days? Or someone I don't even know,
(10:11):
you know what, open open casting call. We're gonna we're
gonna go with an unknown. We're gonna go with an unknown.
We're gonna make a snail all the because it is
a star making role. That's what it is. It's been
an interesting ride by a star. Let's make a star.
I like it. I like it. Meanwhile, we're gonna watch
sometime other than now, which is available on demand. Kate,
(10:34):
thanks for checking in, Buddy, Thank you With Mario a
