Speaker 1 (00:00):
You're on with Mario Lopez. Hey guys, you're on with
Courtney Lopez and joining me now on Zoom. Actress, reality star,
author La La Kent. Welcome to the show. Thank you.
I'm excited to be here. I'm so happy to have you.
First off, your mama, we all know that, and we
know that Ocean just celebrated her first birthday party. What

(00:22):
did you do for that? You know, Jack's and Brittany
were kind enough to open their home for me to
have a spectacular birthday for Ocean. It was ocean themed.
She had her own merch stand. It was like it
was definitely like give them Ocean. And I know she
won't remember, but she'll look back on photos and be like,

(00:42):
you know what, my mom cared exactly And that's why
we do it. They have no it's more for the
parents at one than it is. You know that it
is for the kids, right, um you Um. I've been
a mother for a year now, So how has motherhood
changed you this past year? Does it feel like second
nature now? Because I know I'm still learning every day,

(01:03):
But how do you feel about it? You know, it's
kind of it's kind of both. When I like, literally
just Uh. Now, I was looking at her and I'm like,
I'm your mom, and I feel like a child. Like
how It's so it's so strange when I deep dive
into this new dynamic. I'm learning every day, you know,

(01:25):
I'm She's picking up on little things. She knows if
she fusses, she may get what she wants. So it's
like I'm learning a lot of things to do, what
not to do. But I feel I feel much softer.
I feel like I pick my battles a lot more
hyper sensitive to who I surround myself with. She's just

(01:45):
the greatest thing that's ever happened to me. Let me
just say that you are not alone. And as a
first time parent, I want you to know that because
I'm on my third child and I'm still learning things. Um,
so just know that we are all in this together
and we are all learning together and you know, doing
the same journey. Um. But your book Give Them Lalla

(02:07):
is about to come out on paperbook and a lot
has changed since your first book. Drop did you write
an update? I mean there was we went into the
paperback and my life was, you know, somewhat still the
same besides being a mom um. So you know, I
feel like it's I've lived a hundred lifetimes since I

(02:30):
wrote this book, and I'm very proud of the work
that I put into it and the stories that I
chose to share. And I may have offered too much
information to read hers, maybe more than they were wanting
to know. I think they want to they do. Okay,
that makes you feel better because I definitely may have overshared,
But I'm so proud of it. And to to read

(02:52):
back on this this time in my life, for you know,
to give them La La book, I'm like, Wow, all
of these, all of these moments that I've written about
led me to where I am today. And even though
they're not super proud moments, there are proud moments I
have in the book. But without all of them, like,
I wouldn't be where I am. And I'm very proud

(03:15):
of where I am today, as you should be. Was
it hard to revisit those moments? You know, it's always
tough to revisit, you know, my journey to sobriety. Even
though I know where I am now, it's difficult to
revisit where I once was. It's difficult to revisit the
passing of my Dad, And you know, there's a lot
about my past relationship that's very difficult to look back

(03:39):
on because when I read those moments, it's hard to
stomach that it wasn't real. Like it was real in
my mind, but like what was going on behind my back,
It's like, Wow, I was like in the clouds, Like
it's it's almost like I feel like I was put
in a time capsule and I like, I'm looking at
ocean and I'm like, where did she come from? Where

(04:01):
did the last six years of my life? Yeah? Well,
a lot of breakups on vander Pump Rules right now?
What do you think about Katie and Tom and Raquel
and James. You know, Raquel and James, I wasn't super
I wasn't very invested in. And when I say invested,

(04:22):
I didn't know the ins and outs of their relationship. Um.
I just kind of knew what you guys knew, which
was what we saw on TV with Tom and Katie.
You know, they both worked very hard on their relationship.
And this sounds horrible, but if a split had to happen,
it happened to too. It didn't. It happened to two

(04:45):
people who know how to handle as split very well.
I mean they're still very close. There's so much love
there and I feel like they're handling it with such elegance.
I mean the things that they wrote on social media
and the fact that they can go out and have
drinks together. That's amazing. Yeah, it's a bond that will
never be broken. Yeah, so maybe they were just better

(05:05):
off as friends than married. And sometimes you know, you learn,
but you learn later in life. Um, but you have
a book tour coming up, so tell me about that.
Is it a traditional book tour? Will you be doing signings?
What's going to happen? So, I'm it's kind of a
little bit of everything I'm doing. Give them a law
of the brand new tour, which will definitely be you know,

(05:29):
I'll sign books, I'll have merch and products, but it's
really going to be like a live podcast experience. I
have really amazing guests lined up. Um, obviously I'm in
a different chapter in my life, so I want people
to you know, come and feel inspired and like, you know,
we have a bond. I realized, like I'm a reality

(05:51):
TV personality, Like I'm sharing my life with a lot
of people, and we create these bonds and they slide
in my d M and I get inspiration from them.
So this is a chance for me to meet people
who have really supported me through my most amazing moments
and not so great moments. But that's why you were

(06:12):
so relatable because you didn't hide anything back and excuse me,
and you brought something new to the show. And like
I told you before in our last interview, I just
think you're a badass by and it's it's was refreshing.
It really was refreshing. Um. Speaking of vander Pump Rules,
So will you be back for season ten? Every single

(06:35):
year when we wrap, I'm like, I have had enough
of this. I am drained. And then I start getting
the itch and we're there. I'm like, are we coming back?
Do we get another season? And I really hope that
we get the opportunity to start filming season ten because
our lives are so different. You know, we have five

(06:57):
people who are single that are trying to figure out
in this new stage of life. You know Katie who's
in her thirties, you know, she's been with the same
person for twelve years. Like we talk all the time,
like how do we date? Like how do I get
a guy to know I'm interested in him. It's like very,
very scary, and now I have a baby on top

(07:19):
of it. So I just I think that if we
did start filming another season, it would be like a
completely different show and dynamic. I think you need just
my advice. I think you need to stick with it
for as long as it last, because you know, like
you said there, you're in different stages of your life.
You're gonna help different people, and what you have gone

(07:39):
through and other people have gone through, it's it's, you know,
like their therapy kind of it's I yes, definitely. And
that's my biggest thing is when even from the time
I was a child, I knew I wanted to be
an entertainment but there was a much larger picture for
me and I wanted to create a safe space for
people just see that they're not alone. And you know,

(08:01):
that was my thought process when I was just a child.
You know, It's like, I don't know why I was
having those thoughts, but I still think about that to
this day. You know, if my story can help just
one person feel less alone, then I want to share it.
Are you dating, oh, David, bring me out? I've been
on dates, but I just don't feel like I'm mentally there.

(08:26):
I have so much that I that needs to be
resolved and so many things that I want to do
with my business and take care of my baby, and
I feel like the dating thing it just isn't fitting
into the puzzle right now. Yeah, well, you know, you
know what you need and um kids always come first

(08:47):
obviously and absolutely you know. Um. Well, I'm so happy
to have spoken with you today, so you guys can
get give them la la wherever you buy your books, lalla.
Thank you for checking in. I'm going to keep you
um in my head for if there's ever a guy
I think is good enough for you. Is that okay? Okay, yes,

(09:09):
I'm still open to having some fun. I'm just not
I'm just not looking to like deep as you should
just have fun, that's it. That's all you should do.
So it was the pleasure talking to Thank you for
having Thank you, sweetie, good luck with everything. By my
