Speaker 1 (00:00):
You're on with Mario Lopez.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
Sorot Mario Lopez joining me now on Zoom. Actress and singer,
the very talented Laura Morano. Welcome back, Laura. How you been.

Speaker 3 (00:10):
I've been so good.

Speaker 1 (00:11):
Thank you so much for having me. I always just
love coming on the show. It makes me so happy
and brings me so much joy.

Speaker 2 (00:17):
So thank you, Oh, thank you. We love having you.
It's so nice to see you. Congratulations on your latest album.
I may be an actress, but I can't fake how
I Feel great title. By the way, twenty three songs
on this one. You must have been in the groove.

Speaker 3 (00:30):
Huh, oh my god, it was I mean god. I've
been working on my debut album, you know you.

Speaker 1 (00:35):
I've been talking over the years since like twenty fifteen,
so it has been a labor of love and like
my blood, sweat and tears for like eight years.

Speaker 3 (00:44):
So quite a few songs made day.

Speaker 2 (00:46):
That's awesome. That's awesome, And there are some pretty emotional songs. Right,
why'd you decide to get so vulnerable?

Speaker 3 (00:54):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (00:54):
So right, Okay, So like seven of the songs are interludes,
and those are probably some of the most emotions parts
of the songs that are separate in acts.

Speaker 3 (01:03):
You know, I really wanted to put it all out there.

Speaker 1 (01:06):
It is some of the most honest, raw songwriting I've
ever done. You know, I not only talk about my
past relationships romantically, but you know, I talk about loneliness.

Speaker 3 (01:16):
I talk about I think.

Speaker 1 (01:19):
The role acting has had in my life in terms
of my identity and feeling lost with that a little bit.

Speaker 3 (01:24):
So it was very cathartic in a lot of ways.

Speaker 1 (01:26):
And you know what's been really rewarding is just seeing,
you know, all my fans reactions and even I just
went to Mexico City for the first time and did
like a little listening party with fans there, and that
was like kind of amazing to get to see their
reactions and talk about the songs with them. I like
learned a bit of Spanish to try to also speak

(01:48):
as well.

Speaker 3 (01:48):
I had like a little.

Speaker 1 (01:49):
Speech in Spanish and it was yeah, as one should.
But I think seeing the reaction from fans from all
over the globe and having them connect us way has
been very, very rewarding.

Speaker 2 (02:02):
Well, the first single is Someday. What is the story
behind this one?

Speaker 1 (02:07):
Yeah, So the single of the album, Someday probably one
of the most emotional songs.

Speaker 3 (02:13):
I've ever written.

Speaker 1 (02:16):
It is about basically saying to a partner an ex partner,
that I loved you the best that I could, and
even with as much love as I've given you, I
don't know if I'm the best person for you.

Speaker 3 (02:29):
I don't know if we're supposed to be together.

Speaker 1 (02:31):
I think when I was going through my breakup, I
had that, really, you know, sad, profoundly sad realization that
sometimes I think in a relationship I.

Speaker 3 (02:44):
Love isn't enough.

Speaker 1 (02:45):
And I know that sounds like so sad, and there
was a part of me that's sad. But I think
in terms of when you're talking about marriage, you took
them out like a lifelong partnership. There's so many different aspects,
and I think for me, you know, one of my
lyrics in the second verse is someday you'll kiss a
girl who won't kiss other lips because of her job.
You won't have to be the jealous type like I

(03:06):
think for me, there's so many again aspects of the
career that I've chosen and other things that sometimes can
make a relationship a little bit challenging.

Speaker 2 (03:13):
Oh, heavy, heavy stuff, heavy.

Speaker 3 (03:17):
Stuff, heavy stuff for a zoom session.

Speaker 2 (03:21):
Are you are you currently single or is there someone
special at the moment?

Speaker 1 (03:27):
There is someone special in the moment right now, which
the album also there's like two songs about this person.

Speaker 3 (03:34):
You do have to kind of feel for any partner
that I have. I'm listening to this album because there
are so.

Speaker 1 (03:39):
Many songs on my ex relationship, but I think there
are Something that's really important to me about this album
is that it shows that there is light at the
end of the tunnel, and I think being in a
new relationship and finding that light again was important to
including the story.

Speaker 2 (03:57):
Any plans for live shows or touring, I.

Speaker 1 (04:01):
Would absolutely love to. You know, now that the actors
Strike is over, I'm I think that there's going to
be a bit of filming in my future next year.
So it's always the fun kind of challenge of trying
to fit touring and filming and see how they, you know,
work together. My first tour that I ever did in

(04:22):
twenty twenty two, I did literally right after I filmed
a movie called Choose Love for Netflix, and that schedule
end up working. But you know, it doesn't always work
exactly like that. So I would love to I mean,
that's why I kind of did what I did in
Mexico City because I was like, I want to do
this this year.

Speaker 3 (04:38):
You know.

Speaker 1 (04:39):
I secure this venue at the Live Aqua Resort, and
I was like, I want to meet my fans there,
and I would love to do even more of that
of like going around. I might be filming in some
places in Europe next year. I'm like, can I coincide
that with like some listening parties or even concerts with bands?

Speaker 3 (04:56):
So we shall see.

Speaker 2 (04:58):
That sounds like a very good champagne problem right there.
I like, and this was just announced a new project
called When We Collided. What can you tell us about that?

Speaker 1 (05:07):
I can't say too much, but that is one of
the projects that we're looking at filmy next year, which
it would be in Ireland.

Speaker 3 (05:14):
Which is pretty freaking exciting.

Speaker 1 (05:18):
Yeah, I am producing with my mom and sister. My
sister will be doing her directorial debut with that movie
and directing it. I would also be starring in it
project together.

Speaker 3 (05:31):
I love love working with my family.

Speaker 1 (05:33):
I mean, you know, I don't know if you go
this way as well, when you work with your family
or you know, your wife or anything like that, it's.

Speaker 3 (05:39):
Like no one knows you the way they do.

Speaker 1 (05:43):
Sometimes you also like fight harder with them than you
would anyone else. But it's also just the best working
relationship as well.

Speaker 2 (05:52):
Yeah, keep it literally all in the family. Exactly are
you sticking around for the holidays or are you taking off?

Speaker 1 (05:59):
I am mostly sticking around. I am going to the
UK for like New Year's Eve, which I think will
be really fun.

Speaker 2 (06:10):
So the boyfriend's British.

Speaker 1 (06:11):
Okay, I didn't totally say that.

Speaker 2 (06:17):
For just let's go to London. That'll be fun.

Speaker 1 (06:20):
Nice, Okay, very very very dude, Maria, Okay, I like
your style.

Speaker 2 (06:27):
Okay. Well, things seem to be good professionally and personally,
all right.

Speaker 1 (06:31):
Laura trying, definitely trying trying to also find I think
with this album, after I completed it, for me personally,
I was like, this is something I've been working for
so long. I now just want to have a bit
of a personal reset in terms of like having a
healthier work life balance, because I think it's.

Speaker 3 (06:48):
So important and I don't know if I have that
for a long time.

Speaker 2 (06:51):
I don't know. You come across pretty well balanced to me.
Good for you. What's your phone situation?

Speaker 3 (06:54):
Like these days.

Speaker 1 (06:55):
I knew you were going to ask, and I am
sad to report I do have. I have my smartphone,
which I actually am grateful for.

Speaker 3 (07:04):
I am it makes things.

Speaker 2 (07:05):
Easier, game changer.

Speaker 3 (07:06):
I still have all my.

Speaker 1 (07:07):
Flip phones as well, because I love my flip phones
very much.

Speaker 2 (07:11):
Good for you, well, it was so nice catching up
with you, and hopefully we'll get to see you in
person and travel safe in the new year. Meanwhile, listen
to I may be an actress, but I can't fake
how I feel on iHeartRadio or wherever you get new music.
Thank you again, Laura, and happy holidays, honey.

Speaker 3 (07:29):
Happy holidays for the best.

Speaker 2 (07:31):
Okay, take care
