Speaker 1 (00:00):
You're on with Mario a little bit. It's up with
Mario Lopez joining me now on Zoom. Actress, producer, director,
My buddy Melissa Joan Harr, Welcome to the show. How
are you kid?
Speaker 2 (00:11):
How you doing?
Speaker 1 (00:12):
I'm doing well. I'm doing well. How was your easter?
Speaker 3 (00:14):
My easter was lovely. It was very peaceful, nice. My
brother and my father came into town.
Speaker 2 (00:19):
You had a nice little easter, how about you?
Speaker 3 (00:21):
It was nice?
Speaker 1 (00:22):
Nice? Well, you know saying went to Mass, had a
little brunch and yeah, you know, had a lot of
eggs with the kiddos and the whole deal.
Speaker 2 (00:28):
Sandy.
Speaker 1 (00:29):
Oh yeah, enough chocolate for a while. And there I
knew this. I you're not to tell anybody, But are
you proud of me that I did not say anything?
You were just unmasked on the Mass singer, right, you know,
I do? You know I can keep a secret?
Speaker 2 (00:41):
Now I did? I do? I mean, thank god, because
we have a lot of secrets between us.
Speaker 1 (00:46):
Exactly. Yeah, you're the one that I got to worry about.
Speaker 2 (00:48):
I'm a vault. We'll see budget. That's the thing, right.
Speaker 3 (00:51):
I am like, I am not the best at keeping
a secret, but this one has done a pretty.
Speaker 2 (00:55):
Good job with I'm very excited.
Speaker 3 (00:58):
The challenge of singing in front of people is absolutely
terrifying to me, and I'm not always the best at
keeping a secret. Actually, the only person that knew what
song I was singing was my husband and my ten
year old Tucker walked in as I was showering one day.
Speaker 2 (01:10):
He's like, he heard me singing. He's like, no, Mom,
just no, I'm not a very good singer.
Speaker 1 (01:17):
Keep it honest with you. That's fuddy.
Speaker 2 (01:18):
Yeah. So that made the second guess whether or not
I should do the show at all.
Speaker 1 (01:21):
No, it was great. You were the lamp.
Speaker 2 (01:25):
I was lamp.
Speaker 1 (01:25):
What was that hot to wear?
Speaker 3 (01:28):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (01:28):
It was tough. It wasn't hot. It was like really cumbersome.
Speaker 3 (01:31):
The actual lamp shade itself was like this plasticy, glassy,
very heavy piece, and it was it kind of balanced
on my head in a crown, but then it had
a rod going down my back that hatched around my waist,
and then I had to wear like a corset and gloves.
You kind of lost four out of five senses. I
couldn't really, I couldn't see anything. My sight of vision
(01:53):
was very small. You can't hear anythings you have inner
ears in unless someone's on a mic, and then like
you can't touch it with gloves and you can kind
of feel your way.
Speaker 2 (02:01):
With your feet.
Speaker 3 (02:02):
But I mean, it was just it was it was terrifying,
but it was so exciting. Mark told me, my husband said,
if you're not having fun, what the hell are you doing?
Speaker 2 (02:11):
And I was like, that's so true. Like when am
I ever?
Speaker 3 (02:13):
It's one of the perks of our jobs that we
get to do some of these things, right, I get
to go I'm Askinger, or dancing with the stars, or
win a million dollars for charity on Wheel of Fortune.
So like, why wouldn't I accept this challenge just because
I'm scared? That doesn't make any sense.
Speaker 1 (02:27):
Like that's a good head on. Yeah, absolutely good attitude
to have just in life in general. Did anyone guess
it was you?
Speaker 2 (02:33):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (02:34):
Actually I think it was Jenny McCarthy and maybe Nicole
might have figured out that it was me. It's funny
because Ken Ken Jong and I are on the same
show Costa Grandis.
Speaker 2 (02:44):
He plays my husband. He's mister Chang and I'm missus
Chang and we've.
Speaker 3 (02:47):
Never met in person, but he said this whole thing
about like I work with Melissa, I would know her
voice if it was her.
Speaker 2 (02:52):
It's not her, so that's fine.
Speaker 1 (02:54):
Wait, what do you work with him on.
Speaker 2 (02:56):
It's a show called Costa Grande's on Nickelodeon.
Speaker 1 (02:58):
Are you doing what is the voice over work? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (03:00):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (03:01):
Because my kids are such huge fans of Loudhouse, so
I asked Nickelodeon. I was like, can I be on Loudhouse?
So like, actually, we have a spinoff coming up called
Costa Grandees got.
Speaker 1 (03:11):
Oh good, the congrats on that. That's awesome. You also
have a podcast, Melissa, What Women Binge?
Speaker 2 (03:18):
You've been on it?
Speaker 1 (03:18):
I've been on it, and and you said, I quickly exited.
That's because, well, she decided to have a podcast I
could tell people in the middle of like a Q
and a thing with with with a big audience, and
I just I fell back, as I thought Lacey Shaybeer
was waiting in the wings, and I didn't want to
(03:39):
be taking up all her time. But Melissa doesn't give
a ship. She was just like, I'm gonna keep talking.
Fuck Lacy say bear No. I was like, what you said, Chris, You.
Speaker 3 (03:51):
Were like you were chilling on the couch at this
Q and A like given one word answers, I'm like where.
Speaker 1 (03:56):
I was so not getting one word answers. Don't make it.
That's not my style. Wow. First of all, you know me,
I'm incredibly charming. I do not get one word, So
that's what's shocking.
Speaker 2 (04:05):
You were incredibly charming accept on my podcast.
Speaker 3 (04:07):
Ah, we do.
Speaker 1 (04:10):
Yes, I'm gonna wrestle next time with you. I know
you're a pro, but I have no skills, so I
got She's got three boys though, and her husband.
Speaker 2 (04:19):
I'm sure she's just I'm very scrappy. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (04:22):
Uh. Do you have any shows you need to watch
live or do you wait until you can binge them all?
Speaking of binging, no, I.
Speaker 3 (04:28):
Do try to. Uh.
Speaker 2 (04:30):
I do try to watch some of them live.
Speaker 3 (04:31):
Like I was really into Shrinking when that was on
and then Ted Lasso right now, not live necessarily, but
I try to watch it that night, you know. I
try to make sure that when it's launched, I get
to it right away. But it is kind of frustrating
when you're used to binging in you know, in like
consecutively and being able to get to the next one
and never knowing.
Speaker 2 (04:49):
Also when you are watching them live. You're not really
sure how many more you have to go? Right, like,
get three more? How juicy do I get with this?
Speaker 1 (04:55):
Yeah? I like kind of marinating it. There's certain shows
I watch, well, there's certain shows that only come out
once a week, whether it's Accession or The Mandalorian so
and I kind of miss that. You look forward to it.
Speaker 2 (05:03):
You can kind of digest it all television, right, We television.
Speaker 1 (05:08):
Exactly a couple of months ago. We just headed to it.
We were at Christmas Con. What a turnout? Huh? That
was a huge hit. And what was your favorite part
about about meeting people at They're.
Speaker 2 (05:19):
Doing another one in Kansas City.
Speaker 1 (05:21):
I thought it was Orlando. I thought it was Orlando.
Speaker 2 (05:23):
The other one, Uh, that's Nineties Con Tampa.
Speaker 1 (05:26):
Oh nineties Oh, I got him confused. That's right. We
were at both. Let me rewind we were We're doing
at cons because we are cons. We did a Christmas
Con and we did a nineties Con. Are you going
to be are you going to be at the next
Christmas Con in nineties Con?
Speaker 2 (05:41):
I am.
Speaker 3 (05:41):
I'm planning on being at both I think June and
Kansas City and then September and Tampa.
Speaker 1 (05:46):
I believe where in June June? I think somebody tell
me June what.
Speaker 2 (05:50):
I think it's June tenth.
Speaker 1 (05:51):
Oh, no, I can't do that one. Dang it. That's right,
I can't do that one.
Speaker 2 (05:54):
Well, when you you know, try to figure out your
calendar and schedule on the air, that's well, you know,
we try to do it. Cheeze, my buddy, tenth. I
have my nephew's birthday. My son is taking Stes, and
I'll be at Christmas Con in Kansas.
Speaker 1 (06:06):
You're like, screw my family. I'm all about Christmas Con,
but the not Yes, the Christmas Con is exactly what
it sounds like. It's like comic con but all things
Christmas and all the Christmas.
Speaker 3 (06:17):
Because it tends to be a lot of women. What
I like about is like moms and their daughters or
girl groups coming together. They're all wearing like matching sweaters.
Speaker 2 (06:24):
You know. It's not like your.
Speaker 3 (06:25):
Typical comic con, which tends to be a lot of
like people in costume and like, you know, people that
are really into like the comic book side of things. Right,
the Christmas cons, there's like there's cookies and everyone smells
like gingerbread, and.
Speaker 2 (06:40):
You know, it's just like it's just like and the light.
Speaker 3 (06:42):
There's all Christmas lights everywhere, So you get better pictures
because at other comic cons you're like in a dark
like warehouse with like bad lighting and taking pictures with everybody.
Speaker 2 (06:51):
So I love the Christmas con because it's just so pretty.
Speaker 3 (06:53):
It is.
Speaker 1 (06:53):
It was a lot of fun. In the nineties, con,
which we were both at in Connecticut was a huge success.
A lot of people came out there and they were
dressed up as certain characters and uh, and that was
kind of fun.
Speaker 2 (07:05):
Talk you weren't happy about the TikTok, of course.
Speaker 1 (07:07):
I was at made what No. I had just woke up.
I think I was a little hungover, and then you
were definitely hung over.
Speaker 3 (07:14):
I was definitely we're not hungover because you went to
bed at nine o'clock the night before. You like were
like I walked in the hotel. You're like Millie Milly,
and I went over and then I had like one drink.
You're like, I'm going to bed, and you're like, I
was like, it's like it's like seven o'clock West Coast time,
where are you going?
Speaker 1 (07:27):
And you're like, I'm gonna tell you you can go
to bed a nine o'clock and still wake up hungover.
You can still wake up over. That might have been
just what I told you. I'm kiddy, I'm kidding and
m jay, but that's right. So I wake up the
next morning, she hits me, let's do a TikTok. I'm on,
I get it.
Speaker 2 (07:45):
I know you're doing with your daughter. It's okay, No,
I did you know?
Speaker 3 (07:48):
I love you.
Speaker 1 (07:49):
I did it.
Speaker 2 (07:49):
You did do it.
Speaker 1 (07:50):
Your boys are getting big, hold are they? And what
are they up to now?
Speaker 2 (07:53):
Seventeen, fifteen and ten?
Speaker 3 (07:56):
The ten year old of Troublemaker, he's just he'sither gonn
be a lawyer or criminal.
Speaker 2 (08:00):
I'm not sure which yet.
Speaker 3 (08:03):
Brady, my fifteen year old, is just kind of having
some fun. He's running track right now. And then my
oldest is about to go to prom's junior prom. But
he's going to prom next week with like a girl.
Speaker 2 (08:15):
Very exciting.
Speaker 3 (08:16):
But I got to go to Canada shoot a movie,
so I'm not going to be here for the prom part.
I'll never hear when he goes to school, dances with
girls and stuff. So Luckily is pretty good at buying Carssages.
Speaker 1 (08:26):
So listen to What Women Binge with my girl Melissa
john Hart on my Heart Radio or wherever you get
your podcasts. Thanks for hanging out.
Speaker 3 (08:35):
Yeah, thank you, and yeah that tonight right now, there's
this special episode of my podcast is all about my
experience on Mass Sanger.
Speaker 2 (08:42):
So if you want to know more about my backstage.
You haven't done it yet, have you, Mario?
Speaker 1 (08:46):
No, but they guess me all the time.
Speaker 2 (08:47):
But I haven't done it.
Speaker 3 (08:49):
You gotta do it. It's fine.
Speaker 2 (08:50):
It's something.
Speaker 1 (08:53):
Hey, I won't be at Yeah, I won't be at
the Christmas one, but I'm going to try to go
to the other one that's like in September.
Speaker 2 (08:58):
Tampa in September. Yeah, I think I'm gonna Orlando. Is
it Orlando?
Speaker 1 (09:02):
I think it's Orlando.
Speaker 3 (09:04):
Well, I'm going to go to Orlando anyway because my
son's birthday, I'm going to take him to Disney, I think.
Speaker 2 (09:08):
So it's his birthday the day after all, right on Disney.
Speaker 1 (09:11):
All right, honey, best to the family for me too,
and it would do okay with Mario Lopez
