Speaker 1 (00:01):
Mario Lopez. Mario Lopez joining me nowt on zoom from
the Fox drama the cleaning lady, actor Oliver Hudson. Welcome
to the show man. How you doing? I'm good, man,
happened to be back. I like seeing you. It's happening
more and more these days. Thanks by the good for you. Well,
you've got a lot going on. First off, you had
a birthday last week. Happy, belated. I'd just celebrate. I

(00:23):
was in Santa Fe air and my wife flew in.
We went to this place of Bishop's lodge. It was
amazing and we just honestly chilled. You know, it's beautiful.
It's those moments where you wanted, you know, fill in
your birthday and do all kinds of things. But now,
for for us, it was let's just hang out and
do absolutely nothing. That's what happens when you start turning

(00:46):
forty six. You just want kids and working and traveling
back and forth's like, I just want to do absolutely
nothing exactly. It's and it's the best. It's the best,
the best. You've been fishing lately. I get jealous when
I see all your fishing. Well, it's a southern California
has never been hotter. Right now, right there's Dorado literally

(01:06):
right off of Santa Monica Bay. There's huge blue fin
tuna right by off of Catalina. I mean it is
they're talking about this is one of the greatest fishing
years in southern California of all time, and you're right
about that, because my buddies and my cousins have sent
me picks. I unfortunately been able to go in a minute.
We're planning one right now, but they're sending me picks
and he's cute like you, is a huge Dorado into it.
I'm like, Damn, right here it is on. I mean

(01:30):
it is. They're everywhere. Yeah, unfortunately I'm in Albuquerque and
I've gotten out a couple of times, but I'd be
out every day. Yeah, we get every day by good. Yeah,
you get that Green Chili right now. I love that.
That's true. You can't. You can't go anywhere without great me.
It's like Green Chili ice cream, Green Chili cough. They
put it in every and it's good and it works good. No,

(01:51):
it's good for sure. Well, congratulations. Man. Season two of
the cleaning lady kicks off tonight. What's going on when
we pick things up. Yeah, I'm mean, basically we think
that the sort of crime has been solved, but there's
a portion of it that has not, you know, and
so it's sort of a half a win for my character.
And now we pick up right where we left off.

(02:13):
You know, the bad guys are in jail, but they're
they're hiding something. And now Tony, our main girl, I
know that there's something up still with her and the
bad guy, and so now it's me sort of infiltrating
and trying to figure out the rest of it, which
then devolves into an entire different web of all kinds
of sort of dark vegas darkness. You know, it ends

(02:37):
upon the show. It's good, it's it's fun. I think
it's even a little darker. It looks that way in
the in the teaser right there, and it's it's a
fun premise. Man Cleaning, ladies, Been Fox's most watched drama
in a couple of years. So again, Congrat why why
is it working? Um, I think it works on a
lot of levels, you know. I mean first of all,

(02:57):
I think it's really well done. Uh, you know, as
far as network television goes, I mean you watch it
without the cursing and then the sort of what would
make it rated are. It's got that Vibe, it's got
that feel, it's slow moving, it's deliberate, Um, and it
just locks you in. I think there's just great characters.
They're really great characters, with which is Great Arcs and

(03:19):
and you just want to see what's going on. And
they've added a lot of heart to it too. You know,
that's fine. You know it's a it's a good combination
for sure. Can you guys film entirely in Albuquerquequerque and
then then a couple of days in Vegas? You know, okay, correct,
stuff nice. Um. Also in the works something called the
three of us with Melon Ackerman. Well, that was that was.

(03:41):
That was a pilot I did. Yeah, that's not that.
That was that was before this. It didn't work out,
which was devastating, only because my son was in it. Oh,
let me ask you about that too, when you're when
you're older. Your kids. Now I got fifteen, twelve and okay,
we're we're almost on the same path right there. I

(04:03):
got three myself. Did they want to pursue this, uh,
the entertainment business, Um, and if so, did you try
to encourage it? Discourage it, because I'm always curious because
obviously know how tough the businesses and the rejection that
deals with it. How did you handle that as a parent? Well,
I think you know my the way my parents did
it was, look, if you love it, do it. You know,

(04:24):
I mean if you don't, don't. There was no pushing
or pulling in either direction. With my kids it's the
same thing. It's sort of all they know. I mean
they grew up on sets just we did, my sister
and I. Yeah, and so of course everyone froms like, Oh,
I'm gonna be an actor when I grow up, you know,
and I think they're too young to sort of understand
what that might mean and what that might take. But
in their eyes they want to be performers. And for me,

(04:48):
if you want to do something and go do a play,
I don't want you to be some Child Act or
some child star, you know what I mean. Like that
makes me nervous, I guess. But you know, to go
off a little bit on my stunt Bodie, I thought
it was going to be just a guest spot. COVID rules.
We can consolidate a little bit. It turns out it was.
It was a series regular. So then he had to
test for the network in the studio. I talked to

(05:10):
my wife and Mike. I didn't realize that, but all right,
let's let him. Let him try it, and he crushed
it and he got the job. So it was a
series regular with me on the show. It just went
we just did the pilot, which was enough because I
got eight days with him as a professional actor working
in my environment. It was I was like, you know,
getting emotional every day. I couldn't even believe what was happening.

(05:31):
But now we'll see, we'll see, we'll see what they do.
Now I totally know exactly. How are you feeling? Its
process more I got to do some stuff with my
daughter along the same line. So it's it's fun. It's fine,
it's funn that's great. Um, you also got a podcast,
unconsciously coupled. Yeah, wait, I'll talk about on there. It's
my wife and I. You know I mean we we
have a podcast with my sister called sibling revelry. I

(05:54):
got another one called daddy issues with Joe Buck. I'm
like the podcast crazy person, but I just my wife
and I have a very interesting relationship and we went
through a lot of stuff in the beginning and we
got through a lot of stuff and we were very
candid about it, Yuh, and we wanted to create something
around the reality of relationships and what they were and

(06:14):
talk about the daily issues, you know, and and the
relatable things that we all go through when we're, you know,
in in in love or falling in love or falling
out of love, whatever that is. And then we'll bring
on guests to you know, like celebrity guests and their
couple to try to sort of get into the details
of how, how what their relationships are like and how

(06:35):
they fell in love. You know, it's been fun, man.
I mean it's been fun for Aaron and I. It's
it's just a blast and we've been we've we've gotten
into some fights. So I bet. Oh No, I know. God. Coincidentally,
my wife does a radio show with me right here,
but she only comes in, Um what you come into
three days a week because she had much no, dude,

(06:55):
I mean I pretty sure say it's down to too yeah, exactly,
and used to be. It'll be down one next about stuff.
I'm so unfiltered, like Papa, put the mic down, like
what are you doing there? What are you singing this for.
I'm like, Babe, I don't know. All right, exactly. I'm vited.
I got just goal. was supposed to be candid, right.

(07:17):
I don't want people thinking this about me. God, we're
living the same life, it seems right now. That's awesome, man,
good for you. Um, Hey, on social media, I saw
you recently ran out of gas on the highway. Yeah,
that was bad. What happened, dude? I you know. I mean,
I think people can relate to this. Your your your

(07:38):
empty sign goes Ding and I guess the rumor is
you got thirty or forty miles, right. So I was like, Oh,
let's stock goes off. You got thirty miles. Definitely on
the road. Did Not have thirty miles. And you know,
I wake up. First of all, that thing had been
on empty for a minute and I just kept driving home,
driving home, get abit five am, looking at the thing.

(07:58):
All right, I can make it to work, it's teen minutes.
I got this, get on the freeway and that's boom,
it's just AH, they're you know, that's my theory, Um Oliver,
as to why we don't have flying cars yet, because
they know people right around on all the time. You
can't be having spaceships dropping mid air and ship because

(08:21):
people running around on e too much, and we'll be
like did just we drop it down all the time.
That's a great point. Exactly what I mean. Like sash somebody.
We're a lazy ASS specs. And then when you got
the hat, when you got the cars in the air,
you can't be lazy because it's gonna be crashing. Everybody's
talking about I know my car. I know my car.
That's what happens. Oh Man, always nice to talk to you. Hey, listen,

(08:44):
watch the cleaning lady Monday's on Fox if you haven't
checked it out. Very cool show, Oliver, thanks for hanging out.
Many thanks. Brother, good to see you. Are you too
