Speaker 1 (00:00):
Come on Mari a little bit. It's up here on
Morile Lopez, join me nout on zoom. Scott and Matt
from Pentatonics, Welcome to the show. Are you guys doing good? Man?
Are you doing? Nice? To see you again? I should
say we were recently at the tree lighting at Rockefellow
Center and in New York. How difficult is it to
sing when it's at damn cold outside? Uh? It is

(00:23):
actually pretty difficult. Yeah, a lot of it, I can imagine. Yeah,
extra congrats of hands and not a handem new album
is Evergreen? How do you How do you choose what
songs are gonna perform? Oh? I have like this running
list in my phone, just this playlist of like fifty

(00:47):
Christmas songs. You'd be surprised how many Christmas songs they are.
We haven't run out yet. And any time, like a
friend or a commercial, like I see a new Christmas song,
I'll add it to that list, and then we'll go
through every album and might pick our favorite ones that
fire us from us. From a recording standpoint, is an
acapella album easier to make than than a traditional one?

(01:11):
Or does it take more precision? I think it's I
think it's a little more difficult. I mean, you know,
each has its own different processes, but I think for us,
um we have to there's a lot of dick goes
into the arranging and the recording, especially for this project
that we just did Evergreen. We did everything so organically

(01:33):
in the studio together, which we haven't done a long time,
and so a lot of you know, making stops and
claps out of out of a trash can and you know,
singing around one of Mike and stuff like that, and
so it was really kind of this beautiful organic process
that kind of took a whole month. I think it
took us a longer time to make this record. Well,
the first single is It's been a long long time,

(01:54):
not not traditionally a Christmas song, but it fits well.
Where where did you discover that one? Um? I heard
someone singing it on TikTok and I was like, this
feels Christmas, ea and nostalgic, and you know, the sentiment
of the song really matches what's going on right now
because we haven't been together singing or touring in a
long time. So it just felt like a perfect opener

(02:16):
to an album. Um, you mentioned you're you're on tour
at the moment. What's your favorite part about returning to
the road. I mean, it's got to be the fans.
I mean, it's in two years since we've gotten to
do a show for a love for a Lave audience,
and so it's been i mean we've done like six
shows already and it's just been the best time. Do
you have a routine to maintain your voices on the road?

(02:39):
Is there like no yelling aloud or honestly? Yes, we
we like well also because of COVID, but we don't
go to restaurants are loud places because you don't realize
how loud you're talking. And then always like staying really hydrated,
warming up, warming down. Yeah, we're we're like really militant
about our vocal health on tour. Okay, okay, and um

(02:59):
you eyes, I'm sure you know the Christmas catalog better
than most. What's an underrated song that deserves more attention.
I'm gonna say I Saw Three Ships. Yeah, I'm surprised
by how many people don't know that Christmas song, but
it is so much fun, it is epic. I Saw
three Ships. Well, now I'm gonna I'm gonna Google that
as soon as I'm done right here, I'm never agreeing.

(03:20):
If you want to check it out, Okay, I'll never agreeing. Okay,
I'm gonna all right. Well, now that we're into the holidays,
we've teamed up with our amazing friends um over at
Macy's for Macy's Wishless Wednesday, and of course holiday shopping
is in full sewing at Macy's with some awesome, awesome
gift fifty and under. My wife and I had our
eye on some Steve Madden fuzzy quilted slippers right there

(03:41):
and some from Thirsty Stone with the hands we'd like
to keep warm. What's on your wishless this year, gentlemen? Oh,
I haven't really even thought about it. I mean, honestly,
like anything self care like skin stuff or candles or
a robe like anything that because I just need to

(04:02):
relax at all times. I'm down with the self care. Yeah,
nice face enough. We've I'm about to get married, and
so we've done like a lot of like right after
towards so like, okay, we're gonna ease into Christmas. Gonna
be easy this year. So I was like, I need
like socks and you know, I'll get you. I like it.

(04:23):
You guys are very practical. And congratulations Matt. When's when's
the wedding? Thank you appreciate it. Do you have a
date for the wedding? January? Okay, around the corner there
you go. Yeah, yeah, right around the corner. Right on. Guys, Well,
nice too. Nice to catch up with you and see
you yet again. And listen to Evergreen on I Heart

(04:44):
Radio or wherever you get music. All right, guys, thanks
for checking in. You to take your guys with Mario
a little bit.
