Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is on with Mario Lopez. It's up on Mario
Lopez joining me now on Zoom from Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist
Actress sky Larres and welcome back to the show Man.
How are you, hey, man, I'm good, Thanks for having
me back. That is a nice little zoom area, got right? There?
Is that your kitchen, my friend? That is my kitchen.
It's got a little open floor plan. I went first
some depth of field. You you That is an immaculent
(00:22):
looking kids and not clean it is, yeah, man, I
barely ever cook. I'm a big fan of Postmate. That's
probably that's probably why it looks impeccable. Um Season two
finale of Zoe's Extraordinary Playlist is this Sunday. What can
you tease us about what to expect? Well, my character
Max has a very important decision to make. H He
is franchising his restaurant to New York and also following
(00:46):
his current girlfriend there, which provides some conflict for Zoe Clark,
who is his first love and definitely his first season's love.
So we will see what actually happens and if he
goes through with it, and what the fallout of that
will be. Any chance Max can end up with Zoe
or is that now in the past. Well, look, I
mean there's always there's hope for season three and even four,
(01:10):
and I don't know that we'll wrap it up in
a bow this time around, where maybe we will maybe
I will leave you on a cliffhanger, just like our
show might. I need to be as vague as possible
because I do want people to tune in, and I
actually am super proud of the creative direction that we've
taken for season two. People should tune in. It's a
fun show if they haven't seen it yet, very creative
(01:32):
and clever premise. And I love anything that incorporates music.
And you guys do a great job. Um you're also
part of the Peacock animated series Trolls Trolls Stopia? Are you?
Are you? Is it a mandate that you have to
do every musical on TV because they have to go
through They have to go through me first, and then
when I say yes or no, then they go to
(01:53):
other people. Uh yeah, Look, I mean I will keep
singing and dancing on TV as long as people will
let me. It's the best. I love it. I love
that Arab back in the day and and um, I
think it's it's it's very impressive. I read your dream
is to play Billy Joel in a in a bioy.
Is that true? It is? I think that. Um, when
(02:14):
I saw Rocket Man, I was like, you know, I
have the skill set for one of these. I think
I could do it. I think I could bring the drama.
I think I could bring the musical aspect of it.
And I've been playing piano since I was five. I've
been playing Billy Joel since I was five. And I
really love his story, especially his biography. I go to extremes.
(02:35):
I think that there haven't I haven't read this guy.
What what are some maybe some standout moments that I
may not be familiar with Billy. I mean, I know
he was married a few times Brinkley, and he likes
him young, but who doesn't well, right, Well, it goes
through that and it's a real unapologetic story. It's actually
something that I don't know that he really wants out there.
(02:56):
I had to go on Amazon and by the last
car be for over fifty bucks for a book, um,
which I was happy to do because I really wanted
to get my hands on it and see what he
might not want out there, and I don't think it's
anything that would be incredibly damaging. Uh, It's not like
I cancel culture type thing. I think maybe he just
wants to protect a little bit of his past and
(03:18):
some of the darkness there. And I, as a selfish actor,
would like to tap into those darknesses and play them
and and uh and play it with it with a
sense of human nature and see if people would gravitate
towards that. So, who knows, Maybe I'll pay a lot
of money and option the book. I was not aware
that he had dark moments right there. I would totally
watch that. Good luck. Um, I think that comes to fruition. Also,
(03:41):
saw you volunteered to start on the live action Hercules remake?
You you there. I'm just putting myself out there. I
I would love to. I I do train regularly, but
I think I would turn it up to play a
god like Hercules again, like something else that I just
think like could could potentially work for me. I would
(04:03):
like to do the musical live action version if if
they're doing that. I the Ladyship the movie was good, right,
it was fun of course that yeah, yeah, and they're
doing that with like Little Mermaids, and they're bringing these
iconic you know too d animation movies to life and
and uh and I yeah, sure, I figured I throw
(04:23):
my hat in the ring. Look, I had some time
on my hands, especially early on in the pandemic before
filming is always and I was like, I'll just audition
on Instagram. Let's see what happened. Hey, there are no rules.
Why not? What if you could play Hercules? But as
Billie Joel, that's the only way you could do. That's
inception stuff right there. That's two birds with one role.
(04:44):
What about the love life? Man? You're looking pretty happy
and serious with the girlfriend. How's going? Yeah, we're good.
We're actually going on our first vacation, uh in the
coming weeks. Very excited to get away and just have
some time just her and eyes. She's a lovely, lovely lady,
very in love with her. Good for you? Are you? Uh?
West coast or East coast? Guy? I am by coastal
(05:05):
from New York, but I live in l A. You
live in that kitchen that's not a New York kitchen exactly?
How rich am I New York? If that was in
New York? Wad damn? Skyler is doing real well. Um,
before I let you go, I'm gonna put you on
the spot with quick questions, quick answers. Okay, okay, what's
your current TV recommendation outside of one of your own projects?
Of course? Uh, Monday Night raw? Um you get along
(05:31):
with my kids? Great? Yeah, yeah, yeah, I've actually seen
them at some of the w s. Do you check
it out? Do you? I thought I've seen you there.
I love it. By the way, I forgot you talked
to us about he was here before you like that, right,
that's right? So I just recorded. Um, I haven't seen
it yet, but they had Randy Macho man Savage biography
on on A and E I haven't seen, and the
(05:53):
Roddy Piper one supposed be awesome too, so I have
them both recorded about for me. They actually called me
and asked me to enter view, and then I never
got to follow up call. I was so disapployed. It's like, oh,
finally I get to talk about my fandom. But anyway,
I'll definitely enjoy it as a fan. You'll you'll appreciate
this to um. I was. We went as a whole
w w E family for Halloween this last year. My
(06:14):
daughter was Sasha Banks, my son was the Fiend. My
other son was Otis the Dogs even dressed up and
I got um nature Boy Rick Flair as one of
his real robes sent to me, so I win as
him with the wig. The whole deal cut two. I
was in Georgia working recently and I got together with him.
He was at the same event. I partied all night
with Rick Flair. It was like, like my the twelve
(06:35):
year old me at the forty seven year old was
freaking out. Yeah. Yeah, it was such a great moment.
I love that guy on literally on Death Store and
you could find him to this day is still living
it up. He's the man. He's the man. One time,
Dusty Rhodes asked me to get him a soda, get
him a thoda the best Um. I'm sure you know
(06:55):
many of these, but I wasn't asking what's the song?
You know all the words too, but what's your to
first go to karaoke jam? You want to impress the
the ladies, what do you hit them with? I think
New York stay in minds tiny Dancer. I like to
start off with something comedic, though, you know, just to
kind of like soften the beach and just like have
a good time, maybe like a group spice girls want
(07:17):
to be moments um forgot about dre something that I
can kind of like not flex I mean, I do
sing professionally, so I think it's a little tacky when
a singer really gets up there and does it. But
if it's a situation where it's strongly encouraged, then you
could find me doing some billy Joeler job. I'm the same,
I'll soo. I usually start off with a rap, some
kind of funky rap, slip into like Bob Marley, and
(07:38):
then then you have no ballads though that's the rule. No,
you can't go up there with a ballad. That's especially
if you can sing, because you get someone they're blowing
everyone water just doing Selene Dion. It's embarrassing for every embarrassing.
Last question, what is the first Actually two more questions,
What is the first album you owned? And what was
the first concert you ever want to? First concert I
(08:01):
ever went to was the Beach Boys at Radio City
Music Hall, also Barry Manilow same You're went both times
went with my parents because I was far too young
to be I'm a fan of and uh and what
was another question? What was the first album you bought?
The first album I got was um whatever Ace of
(08:24):
Bass cassette. Uh sign was ninety four. Yeah, that ninety
four was a big cassette year for me. I got
that and Dukie and uh Wheezer, Offspring, good year, Offspring,
less times. Remember it was a great year for me.
I'm older than you. It was funny because the first
it's funny. The first album I remember purchasing on my
(08:46):
own was New Addition really had cool. Yes, Hammer Hammer Okay,
right there. I was in fourth grade and my first
concert was run DMC and the Beastie Boys Here Forever Tour.
That was pretty good. Actually sounds amazing sing Diego Sports
Arena right there. Uh. Nice talking to you, my man.
(09:06):
Congrats on everything. Hopefully we'll see you in person. Meanwhile,
watch Zoe's extraordinary playlist Sunday Skyler. Thanks checking in my pleasure,
Thanks for having me on with Mario. A little petty
