Speaker 1 (00:01):
With Mario little bit. It's up your all. Mario Lopez
joining me now on zoom from True TVs to Coma
f D. Steve Levy and Kevin Heffernan, Welcome back, gentlemen.
How you doing. Thank you being fantastic. Nice to see
to Thank you very much. Nice to see you and
your arms. You showing us up man with these pipes.

(00:22):
I didn't know that. Again, first of all, it's radio.
I didn't know in radio we're supposed to be I
didn't with a whole zoom thing. All right, quit breaking
my balls, you wrap bastards. Uh. You guys are clean
shaving today, I see. I hope the mustaches on the
show are real. However, they are real, man. That's the
only way you do comedy is with real mustache. Can't
smile with the fake mustaches. It automatically makes you funnier.

(00:43):
I think. Uh. Season three of Tacoma f D has
premier top five comedy series. Congrats, gentlemen, there's really been
a shift to comedy over a True TV. Obviously bodes
well for the show, But is there other stuff you
want to do over there with those guys. I just
want to start lifting weights, so my arms can be
like so a roast, a roasting show. Okay, weightlifting show, Wait,

(01:07):
lift the company. I don't even look weights. I'm I
don't even let this is. I'm a buy box and
I do jiu jitsu and wrestle with my kids. Okay,
I've got it, Kevin, Let's do an episode in season
four where Mario is lifting weights in his house and
the and the barbell falls on his chest and he
can't he's trapped. They do not lift weights. But here's

(01:27):
the thing, here's the thing. One would believe it. No
one would believe it because there's no barbell that Mario
can't lift. Thank you, well, that's true, but stupid. What
is in store? Aside from our weightlifting episode? What's in
store for season three? We did a lot of you know,
we had some constraints this year, you know, because because
of the Couvid situation, we couldn't shoot that parade scene

(01:48):
we wanted to shoot, or the game, the Tacoma Raynier's game.
You know, we couldn't go to that kind of thing.
So it's a lot of stuff in the station. So
we we do a lot of a lot of a
lot of fun stuff in the station. You know, we
have a chili cook off and we have a pickleball tournament.
You know, this kind of stuff that is good for
characters in the station. Um, you've also had a lot
of cool guest stars in the past. Were we're able
to to have some considering the circumstances. Yeah, and you know,

(02:12):
in fact, this season we've got some great, great stars.
We've got Whitney Cummings. Um, we've got Steep. Yeah, my
guy from Cleveland who was a real firefighter. Yes, exactly,
and uh so he plays he plays himself. He's our
the Brady Bunch had Joe Namath. We have Steep An

(02:32):
he shows up and he I don't want to say
what happens, but he does kick some ass. He beats
the crap of some people. That's great, nice guy, hunh
for being probably one of the baddest mental of planet. Well.
The funny thing is is that when he showed up
the there is a scene where he where he beats
some of us up. And uh one of our producers
was like, should we get some stunt doubles because you know,
professional fighters sometimes get excited and they'll accidentally hit you.

(02:54):
And I was like, no, no no, no, none, we're totally good.
The first take, he accidentally hit the act and uh
it was through a glass window and he turned to
the camera he was like, oh my god, I hit
him for really hit him. And we were laughing in
the other room because we thought he was he was
messing with us, and we're all just laughing and we've

(03:15):
got this on film and he's like, I'm serious, I
hit him my head. You gotta come in and we're
like this slapping our knees. Went down? Was he okay?
He went down, He took a shot, he down, Oh
my god, he was fine. And you know, actor gave Hogan,
he plays He's the biggest step A fan in the world.
And I think it was a badge of heck. Yeah,

(03:35):
that's a great story to tell. Okay, we have it,
we have it. Un The funny thing is it was
Steep as middle Finger that hit him across the edge
of his nose and he went down. That's how mart
that guy had. Anytime you take a shot from the champ,
it is a badge of winer um. Have you ever
had it called the real firefighters on the set to

(03:56):
the show? Has there been that sense of irony? We did?
We had. We had a thing in the first season
where there was an accident on the set and we
had to call the firefighters and the real guys show
up in there. These guys are are different humans, you know.
They're they're all like six four strapping dudes and we're
standing around like in Halloween costumes, you know, like we're

(04:17):
like little kids. But they walked down to the set
and they're like, what is going on? There's you know,
fire engines and us in uniform. They didn't really took
him a second of process going on, but did it?
And they all want to be in They all want
to be in the TV show after that, right, yeah,
background characters there. Uh what about the rest of the
Broken Lizard Gang? Any plans on getting together for another project? Yeah? Yeah,

(04:41):
you know, I'm glad you asked that question because it's
it's the most uncomfortable one we we got asked. Um,
we are, we're making a movie. But that's all I
can say. I am Mario. As you know that the
studio currently right now is not allowing us to discuss.
That's all I can say. Fair enough. I think I
think they're here. Oh oh my god. Well, when you

(05:04):
are able to come come talk to your boy over here. Um,
what was the first concert each of you attended ever? Um?
I saw the Kinks at Madison Square Garden. Oh, that's
a good one. I saw the Jay Giles band. Hey,
I'll see him in Connecticut. That was my first Angel

(05:25):
is a Centerfold, Yes, it was that album. That's right awesome.
Who was your celebrity crush growing up? And I love
Diane Lane? Oh yeah from Outsider. Yeah. Cherry Ye Cherry
Cherry Vallence. She's and she's still hot. Yeah she is. Um.

(05:47):
I like to lay Ah Thompson. Okay, okay, I like
your taste. I like your taste. Last question, what was
Adam sorry back to the future? Yeah, yeah, exactly. Last Um,
who would be your dream to coma guest star? Oh?
Man de Niro, he's played a firefighter before. It's great

(06:11):
for me. Kurt Russell, Russell, you know both of those guys. Yeah,
that's right, Yes, Backdrafferunion be great. Traff Mario. You know
I told you the last time we interviewed together that
we tried to get you for an episode and we
wound up naming the character Captain Lopez. Uh, but we're
apparently unavailable so maybe it's you. I don't know. Hey,

(06:33):
if you ask me again, I'd love to to make
that happen. That would be awesome. Either you, it's either
you or DeNiro. It's a tough call. It's a tough call.
I'd probably would be a little bit more affordable and available.
That's awesome and it would be an honor gentleman. Meanwhile,
watch Tacoma f D Thursdays on True TV. Steve Kevin,

(06:54):
thanks so much for checking in, man, appreciate it. Right on,
you got it, guys, Hey, let me know. That'd be fun.
Cars Olla, absolutely, I'm shooting the valley man, all right here,
all right, take care of put your shirt on though, Okay,
