Speaker 1 (00:00):
Mario on with Mario Lopez.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
Teba Mario Lopez joining me now on Zoom from the
new two V comedy underdevelop actor Tom Arnold, how are you, my.
Speaker 1 (00:11):
Man, buddy. It's great to see you.
Speaker 2 (00:13):
Great, great to see you too. You've managed to look
exactly the same for the last twenty five years. Congratulations
on that.
Speaker 3 (00:22):
Losing one hundred pounds a couple of times. But yeah,
I feel I have young kids of a single dad.
My kids are ten and seven, so you got to
stay reasonably fit, reasonably young.
Speaker 2 (00:34):
Yeah, just chasing him as a workout right there. Congratulations
on the show, Tom, What is it?
Speaker 1 (00:40):
What's it about? Yeah? Underdeveloped is a show. It's is
funny because we did.
Speaker 3 (00:45):
It before the strike and got a waiver to do this.
It's a show about a development office at a studio.
Like uh Ed, I played the boss, who is one
of these guys. I related to it because he's one
of these guys. It's like, hey, you're my guy. I'm
not gonna pay you or give you a title, but
(01:06):
just know you're by guy. So you get all the
power but none of the credit or money. And so
it's kind of a lot of fun. Considering what we're
going through at the studios.
Speaker 2 (01:16):
Yeah, that's ironic right there.
Speaker 1 (01:19):
And it looks like the office is sort of that style.
Speaker 2 (01:22):
Oh guy, oh funn Well, that's a good style to
be right there. And it looks like a very cool,
funny cast. You got David Kechner, Brad Williams, Thomas and Nichols.
Were you Were you given creative liberty? Did you get
to add lib a lot? Or was it strictly scripted?
Speaker 1 (01:36):
But you got to as I figured out the characters.
Speaker 3 (01:38):
There's a lot of there's a lot of characters in it,
and as I kind of figured it out, I mean
they had a script, but you figure out what's what
you could say what sounds like it comes from me?
And so we had fun with it, and you know,
I look forward to doing more now that the characters
are all fleshed out and everybody does so they are.
Speaker 2 (02:00):
Right, And it was cool that production got a waiver
from the unions. That's why you were able to keep
filming correct.
Speaker 1 (02:07):
Yeah, it is. I mean I wouldn't be here otherwise.
Speaker 3 (02:10):
Last week we were down at the Rosette at the
old Rosette Studio at John Goodman, at Lori Beckef and
Sarah Gilbert, all the riders from those days. So you know,
the striking is is not pleasant. But you're catching up
with a lot of people you don't normally get to see, right, So,
but I hope it's over sooned.
Speaker 2 (02:29):
No, I agree, unintentional reunions happening all over the place
right there. I know you've been doing a lot of
stand up too, Tom, That's why I assume you've been
seeing me in hotel.
Speaker 1 (02:39):
Rooms on the right. I feel like we have a
serious relationship.
Speaker 3 (02:44):
I hear your voice all the time, you know, because
the chat it's the first thing you hear, it's the
last thing you hear. And I keep thinking it's all
going to be due, like you're doing your show like
you do excess, and it's you talking about movies that thing.
Speaker 1 (02:57):
But it's great because it helps my business.
Speaker 3 (03:00):
I'm going to stand up this weekend at Covida Lap
Factory at the Covida Theater Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and
then next week I'm in Ashland, Kentucky at the Paramount
Arts Center on the eighth of September.
Speaker 1 (03:15):
On a Friday. As much of that as I can.
Speaker 2 (03:19):
Oh, and what are you talking about?
Speaker 1 (03:21):
On Stagey's days well.
Speaker 3 (03:24):
Mostly being a single dad, for having four ex wives,
you know, the normals.
Speaker 1 (03:28):
Having to work forever. Because I have four x wives.
Speaker 2 (03:31):
It's a lot of material.
Speaker 1 (03:34):
You know that.
Speaker 3 (03:36):
It's funny because you look at my stand up specials
over the years and whatever who I was married to,
I was just heaping praise on them.
Speaker 1 (03:45):
And that's the thing about comedy.
Speaker 3 (03:46):
You look back and you go, oh my gosh, okay
that my life's different than that. Then you go, okay,
this one will be this is the one, and then
you do that and then now I'm pretty settled in
and being a single dad. Haven't had a date in
six years, no rush, And I will say it's Mario.
You get divorced three times, you can still go, well
those crazy women, but you get divorced four times. You know.
(04:09):
Maybe it's so I'm pacing myself and figuring it out.
Speaker 1 (04:13):
Okay, Noe take it.
Speaker 2 (04:15):
Thank you for that. Congratulations on the show, and keep
killing it on the road out there. Underdeveloped premieres on
to be on September eighth, Tom, thanks so much for
hanging out, buddy.
Speaker 1 (04:27):
Buddy, Thanks for taking the time. See you soon. See
in the hotel. All right, I'll see a hotel. Sounds good.
Speaker 2 (04:32):
Take care of top, Thank You with Mario Lopez
