Speaker 1 (00:00):
Okay, look, ladies and gentlemen, there is so much out
there that that seems on the surface, uh, to be inexplicable.
The problem in this country as the a majority of
people recognize, I want we get this pole here, look
(00:20):
at this. This is a this is a it's a
new poll. It's it was a Pew poll. I think,
I don't know what. Why don't they just put what
the poll is early in the it's a yeah, it
is a a poll from the Pew Research Center. And
the bottom line, eighty one percent of the people in
this country are dissatisfied. Eighty one percent are dissatisfied. Do
(00:46):
you think they're dissatisfied with Ted Cruz? Do you think
they're dissatisfied with the Tea Party? Do you think they're
dissatisfied with the um the opposition to Barack Obama the
Republican Party? Obviously think so, but that is tantamount insanity.
New poll shows more frustration with Washington over the government
(01:07):
shutdown and a risk of default. Number of people satisfied
with the state of the country's plummeting to the lowest
level since the two thousand and eight financial crisis, and
it's only four percent of Americans say they're satisfied with
the way things are going in the country. The survey
picked up a strong throw the bums out sentiment. Now,
of course, what this pole attempts to convince people of
(01:31):
is that everything in Washington was fine and that everybody
was happy with Washington until the shutdown. And I mean everybody.
We were just robustly happy. And then the shutdown came,
and whoever is responsible for that, why everybody's really ticked
off at them, And that would be Ted Cruz and
Mike Lee and the Tea Party, and of course the
(01:54):
Republican and Democrat establishments are lined up that way. And
that's what the polling data is attempting to establish. The
fact of the matter is a majority of people in
this country have been dissatisfied for a number of years
about the way the country is going. And you know,
and I know that the people in this country who
(02:15):
are dissatisfied with the way it's going are not dissatisfied
with the Tea Party. They are not dissatisfied with Ted Cruizer,
Mike Lee. They are the only opposition to what's been
going on. I don't think I was I was trying
to think earlier today. If ever in my life I
(02:38):
could remember any political major not a third, but any
major political party being so irrelevant. I have never seen it.
I have never seen a major political party simply occupied
placeholders as the Republican Party is doing. There hasn't been
(03:00):
any opposition, not any serious opposition. There may have been
votes against this or that, votes against Obamacare, there may
have been votes against the stimulus, But in terms of
a a policy oriented, a package of policies, a package
of principal beliefs of opposition expressed daily by party leaders
(03:24):
against what's happening in this country, there hasn't been. And
I know why, and you do too. The Republicans have
been hoodwinked. There are two things that have happened. Hey,
they are literally paralyzed because Obama is African American. They
literally paralyzed. Before that happened, the Democrats in the media
(03:47):
ran one of the most brilliant political tricks I have
ever seen pulled off. That political trick convinced Republicans, and
more importantly, they're brilliant moderate consultants that criticizing any Democrat
president would anger the independence. Remember that because the independence,
(04:10):
the God bless them Independence. Oh my god, folks, the
princes and the queens, the princesses of our culture, the
moderate independence, the only reasonable people out there. They only
open minded, non bigoted, non closed minded human beings in America.
That of the voting population. It's independence. If you win them,
(04:33):
you win everything. Ask Mitt Romney about that. He won
big with independence, but his base stayed home. That's why
we're here anyway. So the Republicans got hooked into this
belief that any criticism would send the independence running to
the mild mannerd never critical, never extreme, never loud, never arguing,
(04:59):
never bickering Democrats. So the Republicans agreed to tie one
hand behind their back because of Obama's race, they had
the other hand tied behind their back. By this this trick,
they got them to shut up you better you you
and and really double down on that any criticism of
(05:21):
Obama because now you're criticizing the first black president makes
you're racist. So they are not going to go there,
not gonna be critical. The matter's president doesn't matter. If
if these transforming this country in ways it was never
founded to be, doesn't matter. We can't criticize him because
the're gonna call us racist. And then you add to
(05:41):
it this silly notion that any criticism would send precious
Independence running to the Democrats. Note that there was no
behavior the Democrats could engage in that would send the
Independence running to Republicans. The Democrats can call Republicans hostage takers,
they could accuse them of taking a ransom, they can
accuse of them are being terrorists, and that doesn't bother
(06:02):
the independence. But when the Republicans question Obama's Obamacare plan,
your racist pigs, how dare you? And some other Republicans
have been talked into halfway and they agreed on the
other half to shut up, And they have bought hook
(06:23):
line and sinker that what the American people want is Kumbaya,
everybody living together in a circle and loving each other
and no acrimony, nothing but love everywhere. That's what everybody wants.
And if anybody interrupts that, they're gonna pay. And so
the Republicans have done everything they can to try to
(06:45):
make everybody like them, and what they've ended up doing
is creating one of the greatest political disasters I've ever
seen in my lifetime, simply because they failed to show
up and then when they finally did make a play
of showing up, they didn't have the gut stick with it.
Undertake a partial government shutdown, let's call it a slowdown.
(07:08):
Undertaken shut down the federal government for two weeks, and
the end game is that Dingy Harry gets to write
the continuing Resolution and the debt limit expansion and extension.
(07:29):
That's and then after that two and a half weeks,
all of it the Democrats side, the Republican side, blamed
on Ted Cruise. One guy did all this, one guy
created all his havoc. One guy. If this one guy
would have shut up and never said anything, why we'd
be what in fat city? So the Republican establishment, the
(07:56):
Democratic established, there is a full out now. I want
to warn you about this because folks, we're gonna have
to hang tough. We're gonna have to You may think
I'm crazy here. We're gonna have to remain as best
we can, detached from that mess and stay up, bucked up,
(08:18):
optimistic of good, sheer as best we can, because there
is an all out assault now, not just on Cruise
and Lee, and not just on the Tea Party, but
on the conservative wing of the party. It isn't new.
We've spoken of it on many previous occasions, but now
(08:40):
they're things fortified being fortified because now they all think
they've got all the AMMO they need. And that is
this last two and a half weeks is brought about
strictly by the Tea parties. Now you've got moderate Republicans
who call themselves conservatives, like David From suggesting it's the
greatest thing that could happen to Publican Party now is
(09:00):
if the Tea Party just just just branched off and
formed its own conservative party. You've got moderate Republicans and
some who call themselves conservatives suggesting that you don't want
you two party people, why don't you just take a hike?
And even in the New Republic today there's a column
(09:21):
the New Republic, a liberal journal of opinion, telling David
From that if the Tea Party really does that, you
moderate Republicans are forever going to Louise. You don't have
a prayer of winning if you succeed in driving your
base out. This is not the time to abandon Ted
Cruz or Mike Lee, folks. And I'm not talking about
(09:44):
sending the money, and I'm not talking about anything traditional.
I'm just talking about your hearts and in your mind,
because you know they're right. You know that what they
attempted to do here was was I think valiant. It
it's it's uh, it's been an illustration of just how
terribly wrong things are. And there are plenty of opportunities
(10:10):
for lessons to be learned here. Now. Look, I'm not
living in a false reality here. I'm I'm thinking about
this last night too, while I was pondering if I
can ever remember a greater political disaster in my lifetime,
if I can ever remember a time when a political
party just made a decision not to exist for all
(10:32):
intents and purposes. I mean, do you know what The
Republican Party now can't wait to move on amnesty? Paul
Ryan and Eric cantor they can't wait, Obama can't wait.
After this cave on the shutdown, or whatever you want
to call it, the next move at light speed is
going to be for amnesty. The Republican Party leading the way.
(10:55):
It doesn't make any sense to me. It's not in
the tradition a little political sense. Now, if you throw
money into it, demands of donors, advice of consultants makes
total sense. But those are the people that have been
securing defeat for this party, and those are the people
who have have set the table that has resulted in
(11:15):
where the party is. Rather they've been running it. The
Conservatives have not been running the Republican Party, and nobody
can say they have. The Conservatives have been trying to,
but they don't. They have not. The Conservatives do not
run the Republican establishment. I mean, whatever the Republican Party
is today is because the wizards of smart that run
it are not the Conservatives. They're the ones who have
(11:37):
authored this. It's their signature on all of this, and
they are like a lot of other children, a lot
of luck o the victims blaming everybody else. And that's
where we are. But the opportunity here, I still like it.
(11:57):
I've I've finished my thought I was I was thinking yesterday,
I said, and this has picked up a couple of places,
and I knew it would be. No, I've not forgotten
the filmustioning thing. I gotta don't worry. In fact, there's
a there's a new addition to that that the Adrian Peters.
This guy's got more kids than he knows out there,
(12:20):
A couple more have just been discovered. But we'll get
to that at a moment um. I said yesterday on
this very program that there are times I feel like
we've just lost a war to the Communists. I used
the term communists generically, but I can remember back. I'm
a child at a Cold War, and I as a child,
(12:42):
the threat that the Soviet Union was going to succeed.
That was a daily thing you lived with, and if
you were one who was engaged in all that, that
was frightening concept. And I almost feel like that's happened here.
And and then addition to that, it seems like it
(13:02):
happened overnight. I mean all through the Bush years, I
guess the signs were there, but I missed them. I
didn't see the utter, total transformation, and I will call
it deterioration of the pop culture. I knew it was
(13:23):
going on. I thought it was more it's just with
with the election of Barack Obama, and then the next
day after that, it is like the country that was
founded didn't exist at all. And the transformation of Obama
talked about wanting to make really had already almost been completed.
(13:46):
And yet we had had eight years of Bush not
commenting on the specifics of you know, Bushey and policy,
neo conservative, all the things, the Iraq War. But but
it was you know, how do you go for Bush
winning two elections to where we are now in the
spate of a week is like what it seems to
(14:08):
me to have happened. And because of that, I don't
This is where I'm not living in a false reality
because that I don't really think that's happened. We are
being asked to believe it has everybody. Oh yeah, Russia's
got it. These are changing times, country changing. It's passed.
You buy you know, you're you're sixty two, Rush you
(14:28):
me as well be eighty two. You're not relevant and
you don't know anymore. You don't have anything in common
with anybody in this country. And many people tell me this,
you gotta get with it. Rice. You're not anywhere near him. No, no, no,
And this happened overnight. They want us to believe this,
They want us to accept it. They want you to
but things don't happen that way. Now. I know they've
(14:51):
been trying this fifty years and they've been succeeding, chipping
away education, Hollywood, But all of this stuff happening here,
coupled with this inexplicable political caven. I mean, no opposition
to this at all, not serious opposition, no serious pushback,
nobody standing up until Cruise and Lee came along to
(15:14):
explain what's wrong with what's going on, to explain what's
wrong with Obamacare. By the way, the Obamacare stack today.
That one of the funniest things you heard about this
the poor little diarist Daily Cause, this little this little guy,
I guess he posts their regular that's why they call
him a diarist. He went to his Obamacare exchange and
(15:36):
he found out he's going to go bankrupt practically with
what the prices are. So he wrote about that. He
had a headline they call this reform f This well,
all the Daily Cause commentary just jumped on this guy.
Made him feel like three feets. Also, he went and
changed his headline, tried to soften it. I've got the
story some of these compensates. Why why don't you go
(15:57):
shop the market if you don't like what you find?
Any exchange of saying, who who are these fools? Do
they not know? There isn't a market anymore, there's no
market to go shop, And these are the true believers.
And I think the fact of the matter, the true
believers don't even know what's really happened here. The true
believers haven't even really figured out what's going on, who
(16:21):
Obama is and what he's really doing, and all that
is yet to happen, because it will happen and they
will figure it out. And well, I gotta take a break.
But how about about this headline? Let means it's a
Clinton's story. Yeah? That does? This dovetail so perfectly with
(16:43):
the trick. Don't criticize Democrats. The independence won't like that.
They'll go running right back to don't criticize Obama, don't
don't be mean spirited, don't be partisan, and Republicans buy it.
Here's Bill Clinton in a political story. Headline, Bill Clinton,
conflict is good politics. It's just I'm sorry for penning
(17:06):
a table.
