It's a new era for 5 Seconds of Summer. The band has a brand new album on the way, and fans have already heard two songs from the record -- the lead single "Want You Back" and "Valentine," which the guys debuted during an intimate iHeartRadio show in Los Angeles.
5 Seconds of Summer's last album, Sounds Good Feels Good, was released in October 2015, and afterwards, the band spent several years touring. The band explained of the time in between albums, "It was important for us to take this time. We needed to make the best album possible, and we needed to take a second. We've been doing this for a long time. We toured for five years straight, and the third album deserved us to focus and grow into what we potentially can be as a band."
Originally from Australia, Luke Hemmings, Michael Clifford, Ashton Irwin and Calum Hood have been covering songs on YouTube and writing/recording music together as 5 Seconds of Summer over the last six years. In fact, just last December, the guys celebrated their six year anniversary, and Ashton had teased that there was "so much good to come" from the guys in a Twitter video saying, "We've been a band for six years. I can't believe we've been together that long, it's insane. There's so much good to come as well, and I'm more exciting about this band than the first day I joined."
And Michael had tweeted the hilarious, "looked at Ashton today as he tapped me on the shoulder and said 'we’ve been a band for 6 years today' and I paused as I realized I’ve been married for 6 years to 3 lanky Australians unintentionally. welp."
So, being in a band together for six years, the guys obviously know each other very well -- or do they? During a recent visit to iHeartRadio, 5 Seconds of Summer played a game of Who Knows Who Better. Find out how well they really do know each other right here.
