DMX's Lawyer To Play Rapper's Songs In Court To Try To Keep Him Out Of Jail

After pleading guilty to tax fraud a few months ago, DMX now awaits his sentencing, which the rapper will hear in court on Thursday (March 29). "I failed to file taxes," he told District Judge Jed Rakoff back in December. "I'm responsible, even placing other people in charge of it."

The Ruff Ryders artist is now facing five years and prosecutors want to "send the message to this defendant and others that star power does not entitle someone to a free pass." But, according to The New York Times, DMX's attorney, Murray Richman, has thought of a very unique plan to sway the judge opinions about the rapper and keep him out of jail. He's going to play some of X's songs in court.

Murray explained that this move will allow the judge presiding over DMX's case to "understand him genuinely in his voice." The lawyer added, "It is raw Earl. We are not here or desirous of molding him into what some may want to see; Earl is uniquely him and that is both his beauty of mind and his genius."

We do know that X's attorney has already sent the judge lyrics to his "Slippin'" and "The Convo" tracks. There are more songs that he's sent, but we're not sure what they are. The court appearance later this week where more tracks will be played should be interesting...
