Taylor Swift Saved Dave Grohl From "Nightmare" at Paul McCartney Party

Despite having known Paul McCartney for years, and having performed with him numerous times, Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl says the mystique of being in the presence of a former Beatle hasn't worn off.

He says it was never a problem before until he was put on the spot at a party hosted by Sir Paul at one of his residences.

"Paul got up and started playing this song on piano and it was a new song and it was amazing just to sit in this living room and watch him play piano," Grohl recalled during a recent appearance on the Late Late Show with James Corden. "And he finished and everyone turned to me and was like, 'Alright, Dave, play a song!'"

Grohl suggested that he may have been a few drinks deep at that point, but that wasn't his biggest issue.

"I can't play piano. And I was a little out of sorts at that point, and all the guitars are left-handed.  I'm like, 'Oh my god, what do I do? What do I do?' Right at that moment, Taylor Swift stands up and she goes, 'I'll do a song.' And so she saved my ass!"

Swift began to play a familiar tune on piano.

"She was playing the Foo Fighters song 'Best of You' on piano. It was like one of those nightmares where you're running backwards and you can't and everything was just...I kind of just slumped down like 'Oh god'...But it was so beautiful! It sounded so great! So then I got up next to her and started singing along; singing with her, because I sang it the way I sing it, which is [mostly screaming]."

Grohl said in a recent interview that he hopes to get Adele to guest on the next Foo Fighters album; maybe he'll extend an offer to Swift as a thank you.

The Foo Fighters are about to wrap up their European tour. The band will then return for another run of dates in North America in July, September and October.
