Demi Lovato's New Tattoo Honors Her Late Dog With Wilmer Valderrama

Days after getting a rose tattoo on her finger to celebrate her six months of sobriety, Demi Lovato has added more ink to her body.

On Wednesday night (January 30), the former Disney darling took to Instagram Story to unveil the new tattoo in honor of her late dog, Buddy, who passed away in June 2015 after being mauled by a coyote in the backyard. "Thank you @_dr_woo_ for the incredible portrait of my late baby angel Buddy," Lovato wrote on her Story of the new ankle tattoo. "RIP @demisbuddy. I will love you forever and ever and never forget you."

Lovato received the pup in December 2014 with her ex-boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama and it was clear in 2015 that the loss really hit the pair hard. "We are absolutely heartbroken to be writing this but Wilmer and I are devastated to inform you that we lost our little angel Buddy last Sunday," the pop star told her Twitter following at the time. "He was taken from us way too soon in a tragic accident and though I will never know why this had to happen, I do know that God only puts us through situations that we can handle so with that, together we are staying strong."

In related news, Christina Aguilera recently spoke highly of Lovato's strength and "fierce talent," particularly after she suffered a near-fatal overdose in July 2018. "Demi was just such a sweetheart to work with and to shoot that video with," Aguilera told AP of her "Fall In Line" collaborator. "Just to unite with a female that also grew up in the business and knows what's that's like and to have her own stories and her own journey."
