The Black Keys have finally returned! The band is back with a brand new single called "Lo/ Hi" and it's the first new music from the guys in five years, since they released their 2014 album Turn Blue.
"Lo/ Hi" was written and produced by The Black Keys' Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney, and recorded at Nashville's Easy Eye Sound Studio (the studio inspired the name for Auerbach's Easy Eye Sound record label). They sing in the chorus about experiencing a rollercoaster of emotions, "You get low, like a valley/ Then high, like a bird in the sky/ You get low, cause you're angry/ Low high, high low."
Auerbach and Carney surprised fans with the song on March 7th, signifying that their half a decade hiatus is now over. No word yet on plans to release a new album, but the guys are rumored to be performing Woodstock 50th Anniversary Festival this summer.
Although, it's been five years since their last album, both Auerbach and Carney have kept themselves busy with other projects, respectively. Dan released his second solo album, Waiting on a Song, and his label Easy eye Sound is now home to several artists including Shannon & The Clams, Dee White, Shannon Shaw, Sonny Smith and more. Meanwhile, Carney has stepped into his producer shoes working with artists including Michelle Branch, Tobias Jesso Jr., Repeat Repeat, and several others.
