Kehlani spreads her wings in her latest music video.
This Wednesday (March 6) saw the arrival of the R&B singer's awe-striking visual for her latest single "Butterfly." The project behind the record, taken from her While We Wait mixtape, sees a pregnant Kehlani covered in brightly-colored paint and iridescent glitter as she waits patiently to emerge from her cocoon.
Alternating between shots of two male dancers vibing in unison and quick glances of the 23-year-old's metamorphosis, which follows that of a butterfly, the symbolic visualization also finds Kehlani flaunting her pregnant belly carrying her unborn daughter, due to arrive this year.
The soul-bearing track, on the other hand, is all about shedding vulnerability and allowing one's self to completely transparent to their lover — in body, mind, and soul.

According to Rolling Stone, Kehlani partnered with her alma mater, Oakland School for the Arts, for the music video, sourcing dance talent, production and set design help from the institution as a tribute to her old stomping grounds.
"Butterfly" is the second cut to receive the music video treatment from While We Wait after "Nights Like This," which premiered in January. Kehlani's third and latest offering from the project, "Nunya," dropped on February 19.
