Vampire Weekend Makes Last Two-Song Drop Before 'Father Of The Bride'

Over the weekend, Vampire Weekend frontman Ezra Koenig let fans know when they could expect the final two-song drop before Father of the Bride's release next month, and Thursday morning (April 4) he delivered with "This Life" and "Unbearably White."

"This Life" is reminiscent of the band's earlier days, with buoyant guitar riffs that channel Paul Simon and warm summer days, despite forlorn lyrics like "You've been cheating on me/ But I've been cheating through this life/ And all its suffering/ Oh Christ/ Am I good for nothing?"

"Unbearably White," on the other hand, calls back to Modern Vampires of the City with its starkness and simplicity as Koenig sings about holding onto a failing relationship by its final threads.

The last batch of songs follow four other tracks off the album — "Sunflower," "Big Blue,""Harmony Hall" and "2021— which is slated for a May 3 release. A few weeks after the album drops, the indie rockers embark on a North American tour, with a few European festival stops along the way. The tour kicks off with a Hangout Fest set May 17 and sees the band traverse the country, ending with a show at Colorado's iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre on October 8.
