NBC booked some major heavyweights for their May 4 episode as Shawn Mendes will serve as musical guest during the Adam Sandler-hosted broadcast.
The TV network announced the big news on Friday morning (April 5) via social media. In case you don't remember, Mendes appeared on SNL back in 2016 and performed hits like "Mercy" and "Treat You Better" during the Emma Stone-hosted affair. While the episode will mark Sandler's big comeback to the longtime variety show after 24 years, it will, reportedly be his first time hosting the show. "We are happy to welcome Adam back to SNL in what is sure to be a special night," executive producer Lorne Michaels said in a statement. We can only cross our fingers for a Shawn and Adam crossover skit. Scroll on below to see the official announcement!
In related news, Mendes was in the headlines earlier this week when Billie Eilish revealed that she ignored a text message from the pop singer/songwriter. "Shawn Mendes texted me, but I didn’t respond," the 17-year-old said with a laugh during an interview with Complex's "First We Feast." Mendes, on the other hand, reacted to the news in stride.
