Disney World Addresses Rumor That An Iconic Attraction Is Closing Down

Avid Disney World fans were sent into a panic when a popular and (usually) reliable blog about all things Disney parks reported that one of the original attractions in Magic Kingdom Park would be closing down. According to Walt Disney World News Today, there were rumblings the Enchanted Tiki Room was being shuttered by the House of Mouse with plans to replace it with "relevant intellectual property."

An anonymous employee revealed Disney had an "extensive overhaul" planned for the classic attraction. The overhaul would overlay the original design and story to be Moana-themed. There were other rumors recently, as well, that Country Bear Jamboree (a similar attraction) would be replaced with a Toy Story themed attraction.

After facing some backlash over the rumors, Walt Disney World has issued a statement about the Enchanted Tiki Room's future. Thomas Smith, the editorial content director for Disney Parks, wrote in an authorized blog post:

A little birdie told us there are some rumors flying around about our beloved Tiki birds at Walt Disney World Resort. We’re sorry that our fans are being fed incorrect information by unscrupulous sources. While “toucan” play at that game, we deal in facts here at the Disney Parks Blog. Although we won’t address every rumor, we want to set the record straight: there are no plans for our feathered friends to fly the coop any time soon. We’re constantly evolving our stories, but these birds will continue entertaining our guests at the Magic Kingdom Parkjust as they have done since 1971.

While Smith denies the dismantling of Tiki Room, he did not deny the rumors about Country Bear Jamboree. Should any big changes be coming to Magic Kingdom, fans expect them to be confirmed at D23 expo and completed before the resort's 50th anniversary on October 1, 2021. What do you think about these rumors?
