Bindi Irwin hopes to use her wedding day to honor her late father Steve Irwin.
The 21-year-old conservationist's boyfriend of six years, Chandler Powell (pictured left above), popped the question to his sweetheart on her birthday (July 24).
"On my birthday I said ‘yes’ and ‘forever’ to the love of my life," Bindi wrote of her surprise engagement on Instagram at the time. "Chandler, close to 6 years ago I fell in love with you and every day since has been a whirlwind of adventure and true happiness. I’m so looking forwarding to spending our forever together as your wife. Here’s to a lifetime of friendship, purpose and unconditional love. — Now let’s get married already!"
Now, in an exclusive interview with Entertainment Tonight, Bindi revealed her plans to fulfill her childhood dream of having her younger brother, Robert Irwin (pictured right above), usher her down the aisle, a special role Bindi believes is a "really important" way to respect the memory of their dad.
"I'm always so grateful that Robert is there, and he has been such a big part of my life and he's always stepped up and been the one to give me a hug when I need it and encourage me forward in life," she expressed.
"So he will definitely be the one to walk me down the aisle when the time comes, and I think that will make it really special," she continued. "And I think that's what dad would have wanted as well."
As many know, her famous "Crocodile Hunter" father died at 44 in a tragic accident in 2006 when she was 8-years-old.
