From offensive style and vulgar lyrics to the resurfacing of incriminating photos from decades past, there are many reasons that celebrities have been banned from countries all over the world. Katy Perry and Gigi Hadid were denied visas for a visit to China for the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in 2017, Snoop Dogg was briefly banned from Norway for being traveling with marijuana, Lady Gaga was banned from Indonesia for her exuberant style which religious extremists deemed to be too vulgar, and the list goes on.

1. Beyoncé
Banned from Malaysia for being deemed too provocative for their country, which is under strict Muslim leadership.
2. Justin Bieber
Banned from Argentina for disrespecting their flag during a concert and assaulting a photographer.
3. Katy Perry
Banned from China for wearing a Taiwanese flag and a sunflower gown, which Chinese officials claimed was symbolic of the Sunflower Student Movement — a protest against a Chinese trade agreement — in 2014. The sunflower is now seen as an anti-China symbol.
4. Snoop Dogg
Banned from Norway after being caught in possession of marijuana. The ban only lasted for two years.
5. Lady Gaga
Banned from Indonesia for her "vulgar" style. She had to cancel a show in Jakarta due to a security threat from religious extremists.
6. Miley Cyrus
Banned from China because a photo of her doing the ‘slant-eyes’ pose circulated online.
7. Kesha
Banned from Malaysia because of concerns that her performance would “hurt cultural and religious sensitivities.”
8. JAY Z
Banned from China due to the vulgar language on some of his songs.
9. Paris Hilton
Banned from Japan because of previous drug charges in Las Vegas.
10. Gigi Hadid
Banned from China because a racist image of her imitating Buddha circulated online. Her visa request was denied before the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in Shanghai in 2017.
11. Lily Allen
Banned from the US after being arrested in England on assault charges for being up a photographer in 2007. The ban has since been lifted.
12. Hayden Panettiere
Not quite banned from Japan, but there is a warrant out for her arrest because she was trying to save the dolphins.
13. Lindsay Lohan
Banned from India for filming a documentary about sweatshops without a work visa.
14. Sacha Baron Cohen
Banned from Kazakhstan after Borat came out. It was far from politically correct. The ban has since been lifted.
15. The Beatles
Banned from The Philippines after being invited to attend an event with the First Lady and declining.
16. Akon
Banned from Sri Lanka because of the "Sexy Chick" music video. David Guetta and Akon hang out at a sexy pool party, but it takes place in complete with a Buddha statue in the back.
17. Alec Baldwin
Banned from The Philippines for joking about sex trafficking.
18. Sharon Stone
Banned from China for saying a terrible in earthquake in 2008 was “karma” for how China treated Tibet.
19. Bon Jovi
Banned from China because they used a picture of the Dalai Lama on a backdrop when they performed in Taiwan in 2010.
20. Bjork
Banned from China for chanting “Tibet!” after performing “Declare Independence” at a concert in Beijing in 2008.
21. Oasis
Banned from China once officials discovered that Noel Gallagher appeared at a Free Tibet concert in 1997.
